If the Stardew Valley bachelor/ettes were cats...

Shane would be a feral alley tomcat that got rescued and taken to an animal sanctuary and now helps foster orphaned chicks. He'll even keep a nest of eggs warm while the hens are out. If you bribe him with enough treats he'll let you pet him. He just so happens to be in the kitchen whenever cheese or pepperoni is on the counter.

Sebastian would be like my cat Opal, sleek with shiny black fur. Wary of strangers, only affectionate to a couple people and 100% indoors. Spends most of his time in his hidey hole in the cat tree observing the world around him. He's a sucker for catnip.

Abigail would be a sweet medium hair dark grey tabby who likes to go indoors and outdoors, and occasionally gets the mega zoomies. The kind of cat you could take with you in an RV and let loose on a campground to explore. She's a good mouser, too.

Haley would be a pampered persian show cat with a pedigree who likes to lay around in a sunny window for passers by to admire. She loves pets, but make sure your hands are clean or she'll vigorously clean whatever part of her you just touched.

Emily would be a therapy cat, the kind they take to children's hospitals and old folks homes to cheer everyone up because she's so playful and friendly. She has a fascination with colorful things and loves kneading soft fabrics. She's one of those rare cats who will actually let you dress her up.

Harvey would be an easygoing cat that spends his days cheering up patients in a doctor's waiting room. He's friendly but spooks a little easily. Whenever he ends up in a high place like a tree, he gets too scared to climb down and has to be rescued.

Elliot would be a handsome longhair ginger tom, endlessly curious about everything around him. He likes to sit in the window and watch the outside world with wonder. He loves to play with feathers and hang out at the fishing docks for scraps and to feel the salty wind in his fur.

Leah would be the perfect farm cat. Friendly enough to be a great companion, but independent enough that she mostly can take care of herself and live off your land. Loves to sharpen her claws on wood.

Penny would be a sweet little ginger emotional support cat. Always on your lap whenever you need her most. Not scared of kids and always so gentle and patient with them. The kind of cat you'll never forget long after she's gone.

Alex and Sam would be dogs, honestly. Alex would be a sporty dog with boundless energy like an Australian cattle dog. Sam would be a golden retriever, no explanation needed.

Sit down kids because I’m off my meds and I need to rant about how the still I fly scene is literally perfect.

Part 1. The music

The music starts out slow, portraying Dusty’s unsureness about the situation. The tone is very much screaming “is this a bad idea?” But as the song progresses, you can hear dusty become more motivated in musical form. Once he enters piston peak, it’s full throttle. Dusty doesn’t just want to help propwash, he NEEDS to help prop wash, which is why it becomes more intense. “Watch me as I touch the sky” is a clever line, because it portrays something from the first movie. The first time dusty flew in the highway in the clouds. “Give it all I got this time” is nodding towards the fact that dusty is putting his everything into this. As the guitar solo starts, you can hear the motivation, the need, the want, the purpose to help propwash. The music slows at cad’s part, because it portrays that he’s much more of a “unaware, rude asshole who has no motivation about anything but himself and his lodge”. Once the scene with him ends though, it increases. As dusty passes the deer, you can hear the beauty of piston peak through the music alone. The music is speaking thousands of words, as he passes by the bridge, the lake, and into piston peak air attack’s base.

Part 2. The visuals/animation

At the start, it’s rather dreary and cloudy. Although you can attribute it to the fact that it’s morning in propwash, it also has another meaning. Dusty is in a dark place. As he passes by the cornfields, it’s lighter, a sign of hope for dusty. As he leaves the confines of propwash once again, the next scene/cut shows it being stormy. As if it’s almost saying “is this a good idea? Am I doing the right thing? Is this dangerous?”. But as it passes to the valley scene, it’s lighter, with only the formations being darkened. I may be overthinking this, but I believe this is supposed to portray little parts of dusty beginning to feel hope again as he escapes the confines of propwash, attempting to find his purpose. The town portrays a full sense of hope. As if he’s almost screaming “I’m ready for whatever the world throws at me!”. As it passes to piston peak, the sunshine glares into the deep valleys and canyons, almost like the lights of some other worldly creature reaching down to tell dusty “it’s going to be okay.”. The scene with Muir (the train) shows that maybe, dusty will fit in, due to the friendliness of the train. The birds are amazing because of the fact that they show you what piston peak is. A national park, with lots of opportunities for a new purpose. We don’t know how long these small red prop planes have lived in this park, but we can concur that they came for a reason. Just like dusty. As dusty flies through the hole in the tree, you cut to other civilians going to piston peak. Harvey and Winnie are the most important, because their exchange speaks a thousand words. “It’s just like I remember” makes you understand that they’re returning, and due to their old, grandma and grandfather like voices, you can tell it might have been a while since they came to piston peak, meaning that many others may have found themselves and their identity inside the very forests dusty flies over. As dusty flies by, passing the welcome to piston peak sign, you can see the monument that’s named the park. The piston peak. As he passes by the lodge, you can see campers, vacationers, any car, plane, or helicopter of any size can enjoy this park. So a small plane like dusty could find a purpose here as well. Fancier cars are there, as well as older cars. Busses, small planes, rv’s, boats, everyone there can enjoy piston peak. The rest of the scene is practically yelling at you, screaming “DUSTY WILL FIND A NEW PURPOSE!” But at the end, you can see a slight bit of unsureness in his eyes, showing that he’s having second thoughts.

I just realized something. And I've noticed it for a while, so why not share.

This might be a lengthy post so I apologize in advance lol

You know how Dusty always pulled power whenever Blade kept telling him to push his engine? He was scared at first because of his gearbox. Yes we know he had problems with it, and yes he didn't listen to orders. But I think the real reason he didn't push his engine when he was told, was because it wasn't the right time. In other words, he didn't see it beneficial.

I think if he did do it properly right away, I think he was to going to be given the task of putting out fires with the water he scooped up from the lake. So kind of like what Blade did with him with the fires in the oil barrels on the runway, but this time they would try it again for him to put it out properly. If that makes sense.

I think Dusty didn't see the benefit of that. Like, he's a crop duster and an air racer. He doesn't understand the meaning of putting his life on the line yet. He's learning. So how could he understand how to save lives and put his on the line for others if that was all he did?

It isn't until he is forced to shelter in the mine where Blade tells him that if he gives up being a firefighter, then millions of lives won't be saved. You can rewatch that part, and if you watch closely, you'll see he's thinking about the Chief's words at heart before they go into the mine and the fire overtakes them.

Fast forward to the ending where Harvey and Winnie are trapped on the bridge at Augerin Canyon, Dusty knows this could mean life or death. He now understands just how dangerous this line of work is. He knows there's no time for bs or fooling around. He knows there's lives at stake. So, he finally completes the task that Blade has been waiting for him to do all along. And he sacrifices himself to rescue the RV couple.

Now that Dusty was given those words from Blade and helping out in a real emergency, he now understands just how much these firefighters risk their lives for others. He now has meaning to be a firefighter and in the end it helps him see what it means to be a hero. And that I believe benefits him, even if it took longer for him to receive his certification.

ahhh! a maior parte do meu tempo como k-popper foi sendo stan de ggs. comecei com 2NE1, depois 4minute e aí veio o rv. eu fui irene utted por anos e anos, colecionei álbum e tudo! gostava de MUITOS ggs, mesmo. blackpink, aoa, gfriend, ohmygirl, twice, berrygood, pristin, sistar, wjsn, dia, snsd (óbvio <33)... acompanhava alguns mais de perto e outro era mais um crush. o meu grande amor foi e sempre será o 9muses, especialmente a formação de 2015 <33. a minha bias, sungah, agora já é casada e mãe! mas ela vive curtindo meus comentários e respondendo as coisas que comento nos posts dela, é inacreditável. o loona foi um divisor de águas pra mim, eu tinha até uma conta que criei ainda nas revelações das garotas, depois entreguei pra adm que me ajudava. mas aí o nct tomou conta de vez e, por causa das responsabilidades da vida, eu fui me afastando um pouco. eu fui muito obcecada pelo pd101 china e hiragana keyakizaka46 por um tempo, mas foi rápido. de 2018 pra cá eu só me dediquei ao nct praticamente. durante esses anos todos eu tbm gostava de outros bgs, mas era mais focada em ggs. esse ano eu passei a acompanhar mais um pouco loona por causa do redebut, voltei de cabeça! e o xg me conquistou muito, nossa! minha bias é a harvey, mas é tão difícil escolher uma só que tô quase ot7. eu conheci k-pop pelo bigbang, mas quem me prendeu mesmo foi seventeen. eu acompanhava bts&monsta x, amava muito! ouvia alguns bgs casualmente aqui e ali... mas aí, como eu disse, depois do nct ficou mais difícil. fui "droppando" e aí em 2018 virei nctzen até dizer chega kkkkk.

Next-gen Special Characters

the concept of the next animal crossing should be a new vs old gen style thing where we get more NPCs like daisy mae flick and CJ and the older gen NPCs become once a month fill-ins for them (excuse being the main new gen is sick, travelling, etc.) with all the previous new leaf NPCs roles returning and not shoved away like how the post office was replaced by just a boring card stand (ideas listed below)

the nooklings replace nook, no longer just separate roles but overtaking the store business with the signature blue tom nook apron look, they also are the ones to help the player build a house and instead of nook or isabelle declaring you "island rep" (aka GOD) or mayor, the player gets to be a construction worker for an up and coming nook inc in a new town shaped similar to the first animal crossing gcn game with a train station, levels of town that descend, all the minigames from gcn, and a new leaf town plaza (and any other big traits from previous games that feel impactful)

isabelle has moved to a new area to become the mayor of a brand new GCN-style town. if there was a way to link new leaf isabelle would have a portrait of the new leaf mayor on her desk, but it would likely pull from new horizons save data instead and show the island rep. tortimer fills in, taking a vacation from his retirement life by indulging in mayor duties while isabelle visits her previous workplaces. this replacement only happens after getting a lighthouse facility installed to complete the lighthouse thing that existed in the first title. he becomes cornimer in fall.

label replaces gracie's role in new leaf as the ultimate unlockable with the fashion checks, with her own brand of furniture and selling the previous gracie furniture (excluding the gracie series, bought once a month when she replaces label, and the princess series, which i repurposed for a later bullet point)

mabel takes full shop ownership and sable creates her own smaller version, explaining in the prologue she wants mable to try and manage the shop on her own since she's grown up. sable will have her own mini tailors that you build in the intro to the game's format similar to how it was in new horizons, moving out of able sisters on main streeet

the dodos replace the pelicans for mail service by seaplane, with mainstreet having a visible seaplane area behind the post office

leila replaces kapp'n but shes still really young, but she can speak full sentences and instead of playing shop she's playing boat in a row boat (she also sings, and has a new kk song called marine song 20XX whichever year the game comes out)

reese and cyrus have a purple-fleeced kid who they let run the shop kind of like how leila plays shop in new leaf tortimer island, but reese and cyrus are both still present in the building, taking over once a month because their kid is sick

harvey and harriet also have a kid running shampoodle

lottie now manages happy home instead of lyle

wardell replaces wendell

niko replaces digby

the ok motors pigeons from pocket camp have an RV coffee shop on main street the player can work for, while the roost can be developed as a small building in the town run by brewster

redd has triplets that he trains under him to mirror the nooklings, and puts on a fake "retired from crime" facade while his underlings carry out his dirty work, selling fake art but also spying on the town, disguised as a rock the player can "break" on the day before the triplets visit. he manages the fireworks stand like normal, with the triplets coming to make their own brand of fireworks they suddenly launch at 3:33am

frillard and farley return as the "old" gen counterparts to shrunk and leif, with shrunk returning for the club lol and leif running a garden center that slowly expands in crop selection with each upgrade, and allowing the player's town perfect fruit to change. farley sets up a small gnome flower shop that looks like the level 1 garden store in new leaf. the unlock requirement is a perfect town, he would be the only way to store flowers and he can make shrubs bloom regardless of season. he doesnt replace leif as a store runner, but you can see him as a statue outside the store once a month, removed from his fountain area. (im torn between him being the way to get a perfect town and maintaining his wishing well spirit role or this, but i think it would be better to return as the spirit. in that case i think daisy mae runs a vegetable shop, selling turnips on sunday from there and joan visits once a month)

flick and cj are

the snowfolk family idea should return, but they each evolved by one parent stage: snowman is snowgramps with the bingo eyes, snowmaam is snowgran wanting icicles for the ice/frozen series, snowboy is now snowman and mails the snowman series, snowtyke is now snowboy and gives you the same stuff as new leaf, and snowtyke's proportions are repurposed for a new snowtyke with a snow ponytail and she mails you pieces of the princess series (frozen reference that i think is funny)

theres a few special characters that i have NO idea how to replace since they feel so unique and special or dont have any easy replacements

blathers/celeste becoming parents or uncle/aunt to another owl feels REALLY unnatural (only thing i can think of is blathers and brewster get married and adopt a kid)

the resetti moles should get a replacement somehow but i dont know how they would work due to autosaving, maybe they run a town data transfer service? or they create new save files to play on to stop limiting to one per cartridge/console?

the police dogs' new gen should run a community center (acab) akin to stardew's, or they adopt a kid who runs it (gay marriage option #2)

i could see porter staying? he doesnt feel like an old gen and being champ in wild world/city folk i feel like he needs to be in another game to flesh out his personality more. he could always have his old gen counterpart become rover

luna has no real replacement either and she feels equally as new as porter, but they could maybe make her a leap year holiday NPC since that's when her birthday is and replace the dream mechanic with something like the uploaded houses from HHD/HHP

leif could become an earth day holiday NPC, with earth day being like weeding day from new leaf and rewarding with different styles of topiaries, or have either a new younger sibling or leif is the older gen version of a new elderly special character sloth that raised leif and is equally as cheery and happy

the other holiday NPCs like jingle, zipper, blanca and jack dont really have a replacement but i think making them stay the same turns them into more of a mythical unaging santa claus figure, but pave and franklin could have replacements since their holidays dont have a mythical aspect to them

gulliver's pretty hard to replace since he seems too adventerous to settle down with a kid, and it doesnt make sense personally to create a brand new younger character to replace him. i think they could go back to his astronaut UFO design since its been two games now since its appearance

phineas feels like he should just age more instead of having a descendant since he was removed from new horizons and replaced with the nook mile achievements over the badge system on the resident ID card (which should come back on the passport)

pascal feels too young to be replaced by anyone, so he could set up some sort of library cave area that appears on the beach and you can only access every so often (like the reset center in previous games) to show him settling down and less nomadic than before

saharah and katrina can have brand new designs, either full replacements to be less orientalist or they have children that are around lke 10-13 years old

wisp being a ghost would be EXTREMELY STRANGE to have a relative/replacement so i think they should just change him again to be something new, maybe you find his pieces and assemble him instead of finding and then scaring him, and assembling him you find out he was an old king, but its very clearly him roleplaying as one the more times you assemble him

the other special characters i didnt mention (i looked at the wiki when making this) are katie/kaitlyn, serena, the rest of kapp'n family, and lloid: if katie comes back she could be grown up and still travelling but idk how kaitlyn could come back; serena could become the new farley???? i guess?? but i overall think farley works the best since hes the only (?) non-animal character in animal crossing (gnome) and serena is just like. chihuahua; kapp'ns family can easily also replace leila for the once a month thing and then lloid is lloid idrc

Beto thinks he was born in New Mexico, but if he's honest he really couldn't tell you if that was true or not. Vaguely he does remember that at one point that had been the state he'd stayed in the longest, along with his older brother and sister. At least he thinks that's how it was, when he was 5, his parents packed everything up and had them rushing to stay in Mexico for a few months. The memories he had of his older siblings slowly faded away until he assumed they weren't real, after all what kind of parents would abandon two of their children?

Eventually they moved back to the states just before his mom gave birth to his little sister. Beto loved her instantly, which worked out considering more often that not their parents left them alone together with Beto doing a majority of her care. This time around their parents seemed committed to never settling for long, living out of an RV and always moving. It made him and Essie close if lonely at times never really having a real home.

Almost like clockwork, when he was 15 and Essie was 10, his parents just never came to get them from the motel they'd been at. They were lucky that the handy man of the motel helped cover for them. Managing to keep things under wraps for 3 years while Beto worked and got his GED, becoming Essie's legal guardian at 18. It was not long after starting college that he met Grayson, finally it felt like things were fully settling for everyone. Starting a life with him and Essie, he was feeling fairly good about things. When taking a DNA test on a whim led to a match with his older sister, the trio tried tracking Cal and her down. Finding that the last location for them was Huntsville, they packed up and headed out, not knowing they'd be stuck.

Cars 1 (2006), 2 (2011), 3 (2017), Planes (2013), and Planes Fire and Rescue (2014)

The downtrodden vehicles of society rise up to show the world that they can be what they want and stop those who use duplicitous or ruthless means to gain power.

 One of the better parts of this kid’s franchise is the puns that translate traditional phrases or names into vehicle terms, some of them are kinda good. The plots vary a little, the second one did well moving from racing to spy missions, and the second Planes was good as the aim was rescuing people. The consistent message of underdogs winning the day is always welcome.

 The ethos of the Cars universe gets incredibly disturbing. It’s clear that parts serve as organs but any one seems replaceable making them all potential sentient ships of Theseus; there are also points that mention ‘birth’ digestion occurs but is never explained, and if they’re infinitely replaceable then they should be immortal but somehow they can canonically die.

 A common theme is that the villains are always in some way elite, either through fame, riches, or physical power. The animation is mostly good, it tries to innovate in the early films but peters out towards the end by repeating tropes, the better bits are the dream sequences, McQueen’s speed images, and the fires in the second Planes.

 They aren’t all worth a watch because some repeat narratives, the third Cars and first Planes are essentially just about racing and even character archetypes like ‘the idiot’, ‘the idealistic underdog’, and ‘the suave villain’ are repeated. Not all the guest actors are easily recognisable and when they are it can make the twist obvious.

 Cars: 6/10 -Just a cut above average-

 Cars 2: 5/10 -Can’t find a better example of average-

 Cars 3: 4/10 -It’s below average, but only just!-

 Planes: 4/10 -It’s below average, but only just!-

 Planes 2: 5/10 -Can’t find a better example of average-

 -One of the billboards in the original reads “Convertible Waitresses” suggesting the waitresses are topless.

-In the second Cars, Holly Shiftwell’s name is a play on Felicity Shagwell from the Austin powers franchise, which in turn is a parody of the James Bond franchise.

-Some of the better name puns in Planes 2 include Augerin Canyon (an auger is a type of plane crash, auger-in-canyon), Fusel Lodge (fuselage is the main body of an aircraft), and the elderly couple of caravans, Harvey (RV) and Winnie (Winnebago).

Chapter 29

“That’s what he was saying to me in the parking lot. He said he’d waited long enough and I had to choose. I had to break up with you because it wasn’t fair to keep doing this.” 

So the thing that gets me… Reyna watches as her current boyfriend beats the shit out of the guy she was cheating with. Literally MURDERS HIM. 

And Reyna continues to be in a relationship with Oliver? Whom she now admits she not only doesn’t love Oliver, but also was going to end their relationship. So that she could be with Jack. 

WHY IS SHE STILL WITH OLIVER?! LITERALLY NOTHING IS STOPPING HER FROM LEAVING. 

…Unless the narration is implying that Oliver is so abusive that Reyna felt like she couldn’t get away. 

“Yes, Reyna, it is all your fault,” Oliver replied after a long pause, voice clipped and flat. “It’s all your fault. You made me do it.”

Copy-pasted from the pages of “Shit your abusive partner says to you”. 

“It’s three-forty-five now. We are going to sit here until sunrise, until six a.m., and then his game is over. That’s what we’re going to do.”

Again, he’s so fucking hung up over this idea that the second the sun comes up, they’re simply going to be able to walk away from all of this. Why? Does he think that they’re going to be able to run faster than a bullet? 

Left or right. Move or don’t move. Reyna or Oliver.

Chapter 29 summary: Reyna tells them that his name was Jack Harvey, and that he was the man that she was cheating on Oliver with. That she loved Jack, and was going to break up with Oliver to be with Jack. Obviously, Oliver doesn’t enjoy hearing any of this. That night, Jack was confronting Reyna about breaking up with her shitty boyfriend so that the two of them could be together. 

But she panicked. Let Oliver hit Jack. She blames herself for all of this happening… None of which is in any way remotely helped by Oliver, who really leans into the “abusive boyfriend” role. Reyna says that Jack had four brothers, and thinks that this could be them, trying to get revenge. 

Nobody knows what to say about any of this. Mainly because Oliver is doing most of the speaking, calling Reyna a lot of names and saying that their relationship is over. Also, she stayed because Oliver has a good career ahead of him, vs Jack was content to run a bar. Ugh. I’m still on her side, though. 

Reyna looks to Red and demands the walkie-talkie. Oliver insists that Red give it to him instead. This obviously puts Red in a difficult position. 

Chapter 30

Red looked up and breathed out. “I’m the one with the secret.”

Chapter 30 summary: Obviously, yet another fight breaks out because of this. Eventually, Reyna ends up with the walkie-talkie, and starts to talk about Jack. But Mr. Sniper says he doesn’t care; that this isn’t about Jack. 

Mr. Sniper then says that he’s getting fed up. He says that he has 24 bullets left, and then proceeds to shoot one through the RV. It goes clean through, and Red marvels over how fast that it happened. As I’ve been saying: none of what they’re doing is actually protecting themselves. Oliver’s grand plan to leave at dawn is stupid and won’t work. Mr. Sniper shoots one more through, doing so only to prove that he can. That they’re the proverbial fish in a barrel. Red realises at this point that the RV isn’t helping them… they’re trapped in there. 

Oliver, with his self-appointed title as leader, then randomly rounds on Arthur. He’s only been around since the start of the school year, and nobody really knows him that well. Arthur insists that he doesn’t know anything, that he’s never killed anybody, never done anything illegal. Oliver refuses to believe any of this, and starts physically attacking the poor boy. (Whom I’d like to remind you is like 17 years old.) 

Eventually, Red says that she also has a secret.
