Falling for him

She looked at his tie, at the strip of red fabric, the knot, slightly off centre. She didn’t look into his eyes, his laser focus still there, evident in the tingling heat she felt on her skin.

‘Just let me…’ She traced her hand up his chest to the knot, fingertips moving it into place. She looked up, past those pools of green and their hidden treasure. She smiled affectionately as she saw that familiar curl fall just out of place. No thought, just action. She ran her fingers through the soft brown waves, heard his deep breath. His eyes opened and she looked.

‘Thank you, lovely.’ His voice was so soft she wanted to wrap his words around her, sink into them. Harvey smiled, that crooked grin. He smoothed his hand over the back of his neck as he glanced away.

No thought, just action. She raised herself onto her tiptoes. It was magnetic, like gravity, she couldn’t stop herself if she tried. The space between them closed, inches of distance disappearing to nothing, melting away.

She pressed her lips to his face as he turned back, catching the corner of his mouth, feeling the scratch of his moustache, the stubble of the morning after, the warmth of his skin.

She kissed him. Not on the lips. Not on the cheek. Somewhere between. A platonic gesture masking some unspoken thing. More than just physical attraction, infatuation, lust-at-first sight.

Lyra was falling for him. She had been all along.

My most favourite of the Lyra and Harvey fics I have written, Ask Me Anything, is approaching a little milestone on AO3. A fic that is a special point in their story, before they even got together. As a treat to myself, I decided to commission a piece of art to capture an important moment in the story, an almost kiss. I was so lucky to be able to work with my absolutely wonderful friend, the sweet and lovely @sunshinecovey who made this piece that is so amazing, I can't stop staring! It gives me butterflies!

Harvey skyrocketing in popularity among stardew fans solely because of that Hozier song is so funny to me because it makes me feel like we are playing 2 VERY different games. Harvey is not "I'd rather take my whiskey neat my coffee black and my bed at three" he's a walking ball of anxiety dork of a man who probably goes to bed at 10 pm every night. If anything, the roles should be reversed cuz I KNOW the farmer is a freak.

I wanted Elliott's dialogue to be in cursive! sorry if that's hard to read here's the transcript:

E: "Tell me, doctor Harvey. You've been living in the valley for... 2 years now?"

H: "almost 3."

E: "How could someone as handsome as you not have someone to call a lover? Hmm?"

H: "I- er... I suppose... Um... I'm rather shy... And- much older than most bachelorettes. It wouldn't be right (Plus, I'm their doctor...)."

E: "...bachelorettes? And what about the bachelors, doctor? I'm not blind, you know. It may not be obvious to others, but we've been friends for long enough. You're bad at hiding it."

H: "Um... Uhm... Umm... Uumm...." (FUCK FUCK FUCK)

E: "Haha! hahaha! Oh, Harvey."

H: (He's... very pretty like this.)

E: "I'm only teasing, you know. I do wish you were less afraid of opening up."

H: "I, um... I suppose this could be the wine speaking, but... you're right. I've- I've never truly allowed myself to... experiment. Maybe..."

E: "Hm?"

H: "M-Maybe I could, I could, you know, open up... Try to... Try... something new...?"

E: "My. Try something new, you say?"

H: "...Yes..."

E: "I suppose... I wouldn't oppose to that."

E: "...It's late. We should get going anyways. Why not stay over for the night, doctor Harvey?"

H: "Um... Okay!" (WHY DID I SAY IT LIKE THAT.)

Anyhow! I very much believe that Harvey & Elliott have a lot of potential. I think Harvey would very much be a repressed bisexual, & I think Elliott would openly flirt with him (in a playful manner), which would kinda help Harvey loosen/open up a bit :-)
