To me it'll always be Spike Milligan, Harry Seacombe, and Peter Sellers.
i hate that the word “goon” is associated with guys that jerk off to porn all day now. to me “goon” will always mean burly guys with a thick boston/new york/jersey accent that jump out of bed in black tracksuits and beanies , pick up their favorite crowbar , and carpool with the other goons to work to get their ass beat by batman

Join me as I experience my first ever Red Carpet event at Guy Richie’s Netflix World Premiere of the Gentleman TV series at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane. I was lucky enough to see the cast on the red carpet, the premiere of the first episode and a Q&A session after the screening with all the cast alongside the series director.
The series premiered on Netflix on the 7th March and in respect to the cast and crew this video is being released the day after, so hopefully no spoilers.
The Gentlemen is a television series created by Guy Ritchie. It is a spin-off of Ritchie's 2019 film of the same name. The series stars Theo James and consists of eight episodes.
Eddie Halstead has unexpectedly inherited an estate of 15,000 acres and the title of Duke of Halstead from his recently deceased father, but he learns that the land has become part of a weed-growing empire run by Bobby Glass. Now, he must navigate a world of eclectic and dangerous characters with nefarious agendas, while also trying to protect his home and stay alive.
CAST
Theo James as Eddie Halstead, the new Duke of Halstead.
Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass
Daniel Ings as Freddy Halstead, Eddie's older brother.
Joely Richardson as Lady Sabrina Halstead, Eddie and Freddy's mother.
Giancarlo Esposito as Stanley Johnston, a wine aristocrat who is trying to buy the Halstead Manor.
Peter Serafinowicz as Tommy Dixon, a member of the Scouse crime family.
Pearce Quigley as John “the Gospel” Dixon, Tommy's brother and the head of the Scouse crime family.
Vinnie Jones as Geoff Seacombe, the groundskeeper of the Halstead Manor
Chanel Cresswell as Tammy
Max Beesley as Henry Collins
Harry Goodwins as Jack
Ruby Sear as Gabrielle
Ray Winstone as Bobby Glass
Dar Salim as Felix, a “cleaner”
Guy Ritchie entered development of a television series for him to write and direct inspired by his film The Gentlemen with Moonage Pictures and Miramax Television in October 2020. Ritchie was also executive producing alongside the producers of the original film. Matthew Read helped Richie write the pilot script, also coming on board to executive produce at Moonage with Will Gould, and Netflix ultimately ordered the series. The cast; including Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Giancarlo Esposito, Peter Serafinowicz, and Vinnie Jones; was announced the week before filming was set to begin, and Alexis Rodney was added in the first week of filming. In June 2023, Max Beesley was added to the cast, and Hugh Warren was revealed as the series producer. Chanel Cresswell joined the cast in a recurring role during production in December. Ray Winstone was revealed to be part of the cast through a teaser in January 2024.
Production took place in London and Badminton House running from November 2022 through June 2023. Filming took place at Longcross Studios and West London Film Studios with additional on-location shooting throughout the town, including at the Princess Victoria pub and the Tate Modern as well as areas of Hackney and Islington.

I’m with the person from an earlier discussion of this topic who said that as a fan of old British comedy shows, any attempt to link the word “goon” and a sexual context just led to images of Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, and Harry Seacombe in some weird orgy where everyone yells things like “needle nardle noo!” when they climax
I'm sorry but I will never ever use goon as slang for a guy who jacks off a lot or whatever it apparently means now. A goon is a guy in a clown mask and purple tank top who sees a caped crusader swooping down to beat up him and his buddies and yells "IT'S DA FREAKIN' BAT!" and I will accept nothing else.

Oliver! (1968): Please Sir, Can I Have Some More?
Oliver! (1968): Please Sir, Can I Have Some More?
Based on Oliver Twistby Charles Dickens, this is a musical adaptation of an orphan who flees an orphanage. After asking for more gruel at dinner, Oliver (Mark Lester) is sold to an undertaker. Fleeing to London, he falls in with a group of boys raised by a man called Fagin (Ron Moody) who uses them to pickpockets. Falsely accused of…

The Queen's grandson is getting married and she looks like she's sitting through Harry Seacombe's fiftieth go-around at the Royal Variety Show. Let my RBF be known from this day forth as 'Resting Royal Face'.

As a huge fan of 50s British comedy this is extra hilarious to me because no I don't know and I don't think I want to know what gooning is but all I can think of is some sort of confusing orgy involving Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Seacombe where sex noises can only consist of catchphrases from The Goon Show.
"YOU ROTTEN SWINE!!!"
". ..... You silly, twisted boy...."
"whatwhatwhatwhatwhatWHAT??????!!!???"
"THIIINNNNNGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!"
"You got to go OOOWWWWWWWW!!!!"
"Supristy yakamakakas!!!"
"Needle nardle noo!"
now back to my cup o’ goon…

Some brief problems I’m having this evening:
* I have completed my SWTOR Imperial Agent’s storyline, and now have to chose another one.
* There is a song called Herbert the Hedgehog, which I used to listen to when I was, like, five. (It was on vinyl before it was ironic)
* While this song had been brought back into my head, where it didn’t move, I was reminded of the existence of the best name for Presidential Candidate Donald Trump: Fuckface von Clownstick.
* “Did you realise” said my brain, with a terrible smile, “That ‘Herbert the Hedgehog’ could be replaced by ‘Fuckface von Clownstick’”
* Young Fuckface von Clownstick, lived in New York, and his home had a wonderful view.
* I was two verses into a filk before I realised.
* Stopping that kind of thing is difficult.
* And it’s 01:13, and I have work in the morning.
#Captain Beaky#Was the album#Harry Seacombe#sung the song#Fuckface von Clownstick#...#I've no idea what he actually *does*.

Pathos for Breakfast
After a night of Red Skeleton dreams, don't judge me ( I listen to old radio shows online and they may be diving deep into my psyche) Met with this great old Goon's show. I need this comfort, Thank you BBC. I'm both beyond sad & beyond happy, bitter pathos.
