FAMOUS FUNNIES (vol. 1) #89 (December, 1941). Cover by Harry G. Peter.
The origin and first appearance of Fearless Flint, the Famous Flint Man!
Flint was really construction worker Jack Bradley, who was working on Mount Rushmore when an explosion covered him in mysterious dust. The dust turned Bradley's body into an indestructible red flint-like material that constantly gave off sparks (don't let this guy pump gas for you), and endowed him with the strength of ten men.
The change was only temporary, and Bradley would return to normal. However, anytime metal contacted his body he would revert back to Flint. Later on in his career the change would occur whenever Bradley became angry. Hmmm, where have I heard that before?
Art was by Harry G. Peter, who was the original artist on Wonder Woman. Peter drew Flint in all his appearances until the strip ended (on a cliffhanger, no less) in Famous Funnies #109.

(The way she looks at the reader... why does it feel like she's in an episode of The Office)

Famous Funnies (vol. 1) #89 (December, 1941).  Cover by Harry G. Peter, co-creator of Wonder Woman (who made her debut around the same time).
This issue marked the origin and first appearance (and only cover appearance) of Fearless Flint, a man named Jack Bradley who turned red, became super-strong and nigh invulnerable whenever he became mad (hmm, that has a familiar ring to it) or touched metal.  That must’ve made eating with silverware interesting.
Oh, and as Flint sparks flew off of him, which I’m sure caused an entirely different set of problems (i.e. you don’t want this guy pumping gas!).
