hello! <3 I wanted to ask what ''unnecessary complex fix'' from the cringetober list means, it made me a little confused
Ah! I believe you are referring to Day 3 “Unnecessarily complex fit”?
I believe it would mean an outfit with excessive details/accessories? just lots of embellishments and added detailing for fun yknow :D?

I’m back to talk about transfemme Wade (who I think would refuse to go by Wanda bc “we already have one of them, don’t wanna confuse the fans!”) but in an embarrassing amount of thought so anon-
I feel like she has so many wigs that sit along the wall of their room, one for every occasion (Logan talked her out of getting a massive Miku length one bc she would never take care of it Well enough-), her favorite is the Barbie of just a cute blonde ponytail that sometimes she’d clip colorful strips into. Sometimes she showers wearing a wig for the Euphoria of her bf being pissed there’s a bunch of plastic in the drain- she goes through so many phases of what style she likes, their living room was full of amazon boxes at some point and Logan was ‘forced’ to sit through a fashion show and give his opinions, and while he doesn’t know the difference between Lolita (THE STYLE THE STYLE!!!!) and Harijuku, all he knows is his girl is beaming and rambling a mile a minute and he can’t make himself veto any outfit she shows off. Unfortunately his real favorite look of hers involves the same t shirts and boxers she wore before coming out, no makeup, no wig, face mushed into his chest and just Content as can be. He doesn’t care about her putting on a big effort to look femme (though will always lovingly praise looks so the RSD doesn’t trigger), as long as she’s happy and safe, he’s so lucky to have her 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷 anyways I go ESPLODE NOW thinking of my self ship with her-
WAILS AND RUBS MY FACE ALL OVER THIS LIKE A HAPPY CAT
AWHHHHHHH
she is everything to me. EVERYTHINGGGGG
[UNDER A CUT for discussions of bottom dysphoria - as well as related self-inflicted violence, but in a Poolverine way where violence is consensual and sexy and fun for everyone involved!]
I need her to be happy and to find joy and to have a million wigs and for Logan to love her just as much with them as without them, while bitching something rotten while he pulls the gross wads of plastic faux-hair out the drain
I need her to drape herself over Logan's lap like a happy housecat only Logan's the one who starts (embarrassedly) purring as he strokes her because he's so delighted and comfortable in his life right now~ And Wade is just being VIBRATED by the very loud proof of her boyfriend's love of her.... And she is smiling the GOOFIEST grin while Logan turns bright red!
I need her to turn to Logan after a long day of murder and they start pulling voraciously at each other's clothes - only Logan freezes STARSTRUCK because. Damn. And Wade's kinda confused and a bit self conscious, but tries to hide it under jokes until Logan says in this gruff, choked voice - "You look so fucking good in red" and she looks down to see where she's pulling off her costume and she's just fucking covered in this glossy red satin dress of her own blood ❤️
(And Logan maybe buys her a long red evening dress that she's probably never gonna have occasion to wear, but he's flushing so much when he presents it that he almost matches the colour, and he wants to see her in it so bad, and whenever Wade wears it around the house just casually, she gets picked up and fucked against the nearest wall lmao)
I need Logan dipping her effortlessly in a kiss, and she feels so fucking weightless in his arms ❤️
I need them baking together before Laura comes around and they both keep burning shit but they're laughing and having a good time and there's a smudge of flour on Wade's nose and Logan is imploding internally over how cute she is
I also need her to casually say to Logan one day when the Bottom Dysphoria is particularly bad, 'hey can you chop off my dick while fucking me and then just keep chopping it off whenever it tries to grow back??' and Logan is like 'what the fuck babe' and 'I have a vague sense that I shouldn't enable this' and 'babe are you fucking sure' and Wade is like 'yeah I get off on pain and that would make me very very happy, plus it will do no lasting damage <3' and Logan is like 'OOKAY I GUESS' and then they have fun horrific bloody mutilation sex that would look absolutely awful to anyone else but is actually very tender and affirming and cute

Thrifted stuffs and crafted stuffs and adapted stuffs, under ye cut:
We completely forgot it was the 50% last-Friday sale at the corner thrift, until we were headed out the door to go there. Later in the afternoon, it wasn’t crowded at all, so that’s a big plus to keep in mind for the future. There were more dolls and grab bags of interest than there have been for a long while. Also a big plus!
Tumblr media
I don’t Fortnite, but this guy had a ton of articulation, so he was a keeper. This figure--new-in-box, granted--is $50 on Am*zon. $1.25 from a half-off grab bag. No accessories, but nothing’s broken, either. (live-action Jafar came from Ollie’s. I basically robbed him of his turban and snake staff.)
Tumblr media
I’m trying to figure out how to pare down my fashion dolls, and then I hit a small trove. Of course. 1990 Wedding Day Midge, 1996 Holiday Barbie, 70s Sun Lovin’ Malibu Barbie, and I think that’s either an 80s Crystal or Dream Date Barbie. Still need to compare her eye paint, to be sure.
And, finally found a “ma’am, are you okay?” 1980 winking Western Barbie. The pole in her neck that works the winking mechanism is broken. Not entirely sure how to fix it, but her other ‘eyelid’ has gotten rubbery and sticky, so might just fill the face gaps with milliput eventually, paint them to blend in, and find her a new body. The winking head has a factory slit in the back, and closed with just a tight thread and knot. There’s a translucent ‘skull’ under it, for the mechanism. It makes an interesting kind of fembot, without the face.
I love the Malibu’s face paint a real, real lot. She may be a couple of years before my time, but that’s like the quintessential Barbie look, to me. We’d gotten an Ollie’s coupon in the mail a while ago, and I got to use it to finally get one of their not-discounted-at-all made-to-move mountaineers.
Tumblr media
With some neck well carving (she could use a little more, tbh,) Malibu got the body. I love her to bits. Maybe one day, she’ll need/get new hair, but her original blonde really isn’t in too bad of shape, considering. She might go light brown, if I ever do that. There were never enough, and by ‘enough’ I mean ‘any’, brunette Barbies when I was a kid. Teresas and Whitneys, sure, but no Barbies.
Also at Ollie’s, the outfit packs for the small-scale huge-head Harijuku dolls are $1.50 each. Turns out, they’re useful:

The dresses fit Kenner Strawberry Shortcake bodies wonderfully (apron’s a random grab bag find, maybe Calico Critters,) and the shoes fit Pinkie Cooper bodies. Shortcake and Lime Chiffon are thrift finds, but came to me through a deal on the Shifty Thrifting discord. I have a complete Lime, so this one who came nekkid may get rerooted in silver. One of my loftiest ambitions is to have a custom Sephiroth in every scale/line that I actively seek out, as opposed to randomly find, and Lime already has green eyes. sephimint is my first-pass idea for a name. which... I guess if I can find a super-pale green or blue hair to steal, that would work, too.
Lime is also wearing my second attempt at knitting socks for Shortcakes, on size 1 needles. The ‘yarn’ is baker’s twine from Dollar Tree, that happens to be an ideal shade of green and white to match the Kenner tights material. It’s still kinda too large a weight to make good doll socks; legwarmers would be more convincing. Eh, well.
Strawberry’s missing a leg due to a body crack, but I didn’t have a Strawberry in my smol collection anymore, so she’s still valid. Might work out a peg leg for her, if I can’t find a broken donor body. The pink shoe is from a modern cheapie clone, to show that the shoes can be swiped. No room for the tights, but they fit bare Kenner feet. I tried using the clone’s leg on Strawberry, but it’s awkwardly shorter. No soap, doc.
Tumblr media
The twine is good for more than footwear, though. Blueberry Muffin, also from the Shifty bundle, came with naught but Angelcake’s dress, and hats are something I’ve already done for Orange Blossom and Raspberry Tart. I tried a youtube pattern first, didn’t like it in this scale at all, frogged it, and re-did this from guesswork. I should’ve gone one more round on the height, but nailed the rippled brim. Her dress is from a grab bag, some cheapie Chelsea clone most likely, but the color and fit can’t be beat, for something I just happened to already have.

Flower power.
Pulling off a floral print can be a bit of a challenge. Done wrong, it can come across as dowdy, but done right, it is more of a timeless statement. This floral print on white background dress from the Prabal Gurung for Target leans more toward the statement piece end of the spectrum. But don't take my word for it. Four years after selling out almost instantly at Target for $50, it is still showing up on resale sites online for nearly its full original ticket price. It’s not hard to understand why when you compare it to prices on Prabal’s designer collection where a floral top is pre-selling now for nearly $1400.
The bright pink Harijuku Lovers flip flops were a nice complement to the dress on a hot an humid day. Purchased at DSW, they had a “compare at” price of $30, were marked down to $19.94, and were an additional 40% off of that (based on the handwritten note on the tag), but even if there weren’t an additional percentage off of the marked price, the outfit was still well within budget.
When you can find deals on designers, even if it is via a low end capsule collection, you can often watch your clothing investment grow ... like a flower.
