Marco Jansen creates history, smashes fastest T20I fifty ever against India | Cricket News - Times of India
South Africa’s Marco Jansen plays a shot during the third T20I. (AP Photo) NEW DELHI: Marco Jansen‘s blistering fifty, the fastest ever against India in T20Is, almost turned the tide in South Africa’s favor, but India held on to clinch a nerve-wracking 11-run victory in the third T20I in Centurion. Thoughts on our t20 wc squad :
Thank God Sanju, Jaiswal and Yuzi are in main 15.
It's mostly a very safe team... But here's a few concerns :
Bowlers. Siraj and arshdeep kitne form mein hai... We all know. And they dropped mukesh. We don't have any off spinner too.
Rishab Pant will be first priority as wk... And his t20I record is not good man.
He has played 66 t20i matches and his strike rate is 126 💀
I really hope after his recovery he has turned a new leaf and his performance will be better but... Yk.
Then Jadeja. 126 strike rate in 66 matches. And he's our finisher. 😭
Then Hardik Pandya. His performance in Ipl after he recovered from injury has been appalling. All I can do is pray he magicallly gets better and performs.
Other teams will have players like klassen, salt, Travis, etc.
We have Hardik and Jadeja.
And the guy who has a strike rate of 176 in t20I.....we have kept him reserved.
He will run around and hand over water bottles to others. 🙄
As for gill being in the reserve.... It makes perfect sense.
Jaiswal has a strike rate of 161 and gill has 148. Obviously Jaiswal is the better option.
And as for picking ruturaj or ishan ishan instead of gill for backup opener....
Well ishan has played 32 matches and has a strike rate of 124.
And Ruturaj has a strike rate of 140 in 19 matches.
So gill is a better choice as a backup opener.
It just pisses me off coz the selectors don't have complete faith on anyone and it really shows.
They don't fully trust the senior players...and they are not brave enough to completely let youngsters take the reigns.
Anyways.... Jo bhi hai yahi hai.
Really hope that we win this time because rohit, virat, Jadeja, Hardik, Rishab.... They all have a lot at stake and this might be the last wc they are playing in t20 format atleast.
🙏

One of the most exciting events in the lead-up to every season is the IPL Mega Auction, where franchises gather to select the best players for the upcoming season. The IPL 2025 Mega Auction promises to be an eventful one, with teams scrambling to build their ideal squads, make key signings, and focus on strengthening their line-ups.
In this article, we will dive into the IPL 2025 Mega Auction’s key highlights, analyze the best-performing teams, and discuss how the players acquired could impact their respective teams. We’ll also take a look at the strategies employed by some of the top teams and examine fan reactions as anticipation builds for another thrilling IPL season.
Introduction to IPL 2025 Mega Auction
The IPL Mega Auction is a pivotal event that marks the beginning of every IPL season. This auction allows franchises to buy and sell players, reshuffling their squads for the upcoming season. The process plays a vital role in determining the success of teams, as well-planned purchases can significantly enhance a team’s chances of winning the prestigious IPL trophy.
The auction consists of two key phases: the first focuses on releasing and retaining players, while the second is the auction itself, where franchises bid for players. Teams are required to build a balanced squad that includes local and international talents, with specific attention to key areas such as batting, bowling, and all-round capabilities.
As the IPL 2025 season approaches, the Mega Auction provides a fresh opportunity for franchises to strengthen their squads, making it one of the most eagerly awaited events in the cricketing world.
Key Highlights of the IPL 2025 Auction
The IPL 2025 Mega Auction was a thrilling event, with major bids and surprising moves shaping the future of the tournament. Some of the top highlights include:
Record-Breaking Bids: The auction saw some high-profile players fetch record-breaking prices. International stars like Harry Brook, Cameron Green, and Kyle Jamieson were highly sought after, with bids for certain players skyrocketing into the millions.
Notable Signings: Franchises focused on enhancing their line-ups with a blend of seasoned players and promising new talent. Some of the standout signings included:
Big Money Signings: Shubman Gill (₹18 crore by Gujarat Titans), David Warner (₹12.5 crore by Delhi Capitals), and Jofra Archer (₹14 crore by Mumbai Indians) attracted significant bids, highlighting the demand for experienced players in the auction.
Young Sensations: The IPL 2025 auction also saw a surge in demand for young talent, particularly Indian players who could deliver both with the bat and ball. For example, Raj Angad Bawa and Tilak Varma were hot picks due to their versatility and promising performances in domestic cricket.
Surprises and Shocking Exclusions: While there were several notable acquisitions, the auction also featured surprising exclusions, with some big names being left unsold or traded unexpectedly, such as Shane Watson and Ben Stokes, who were overlooked despite their international pedigree.
Trends in Player Selection: A noticeable trend emerged with teams prioritizing multi-skilled all-rounders. All-rounders like Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shivam Dube were heavily sought after. These players offer the versatility of contributing both with the bat and the ball, and this trend reflected the changing nature of the IPL, where balance is key to a team’s success.
Analysis of Teams That Built the Strongest Squads
The IPL 2025 Mega Auction saw several teams making shrewd acquisitions that could impact the tournament. Let’s take a closer look at how some of the franchises fared:

Team Balance: The team already boasts a strong core of experienced players like Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, and Jasprit Bumrah, and the new signings complement their existing lineup, particularly in the fast-bowling department.
Squad Depth: MI now possesses excellent depth in both batting and bowling, which provides them with several options in different match situations.
2. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Key Signings: CSK focused on adding young and dynamic players who can offer versatility. The inclusion of Deepak Hooda (₹9 crore) as a top-order batsman and Kyle Jamieson (₹12 crore) as a medium-fast bowler were strategic decisions.
Team Composition: While CSK retains its leadership strength with MS Dhoni, the new players will add aggression and depth to the squad.
Strategy: CSK appears to be balancing their experience with a bit of youth, preparing for a successful IPL 2025 season.
3. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Key Signings: RCB's strategy revolved around bolstering their bowling attack and filling the gaps in their middle order. Notable signings included Shivam Dube (₹10 crore), who is known for his impressive all-round ability.
Squad Depth: RCB’s squad now seems well-rounded, with a solid mix of batting and bowling resources. Their all-rounders, including Glenn Maxwell and Wanindu Hasaranga, will be crucial in balancing both innings.
Strategy: RCB’s key move was to build a more balanced squad that would complement their explosive batting core, which features players like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.
4. Delhi Capitals (DC)
Key Signings: DC made a strong bid for top-order batsman David Warner (₹12.5 crore), and their bowling attack now looks potent with the addition of Mukesh Kumar (₹9 crore) as a pace option.
Strategy: The team is clearly focusing on youth and aggressive play, hoping to build on their IPL 2024 performance and secure a spot in the finals.
Impact of Key Signings
The impact of key signings in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction cannot be overstated. Teams that made intelligent bids are now poised to see the rewards of their strategies. For instance:
Mumbai Indians (MI): The addition of a world-class fast bowler like Jofra Archer provides MI with the perfect partner for their seasoned pace attack, which includes Jasprit Bumrah.

These signings could change the dynamics of their respective teams, potentially forming new partnerships and creating exciting player combinations.
Team Strategy for IPL 2025

Franchise owners have invested heavily in player drafts, and fresh talents have emerged as potential game-changers. Moreover, with venues spread across iconic Indian stadiums and roaring fans returning in full swing, the stage is set for a spectacular tournament. Top Contenders for IPL 2025 1. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) The "Yellow Army" is known for its consistency and the calm leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. While Dhoni might not be actively playing, his influence as a mentor will remain crucial. With seasoned players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, and the young Sri Lankan prodigy Matheesha Pathirana, CSK has a balanced squad that thrives under pressure. Key Strengths: - Strong batting depth. - Dependable spinners for middle overs. - Excellent leadership and mentorship. What to Watch Out For: CSK's performance often depends on how their senior players manage fitness and form throughout the long tournament. 2. Mumbai Indians (MI) Mumbai Indians are the most successful IPL team, with multiple titles to their name. With Rohit Sharma leading from the front and emerging stars like Tilak Varma and Dewald Brevis, MI is always a team to watch. Key Strengths: - Explosive batting lineup with power hitters. - Quality pacers, including Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer. - Exceptional record in playoffs. Potential Challenges: Over-reliance on their top order could be risky if the middle order fails to fire. 3. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Will 2025 finally be RCB’s year? With stalwarts like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, the team boasts experience and flair. Add young guns and a solid bowling attack, and RCB fans have every reason to dream big. Key Strengths: - Kohli’s consistency and leadership. - An impressive mix of youth and experience. - Ability to chase big totals under pressure. The Catch: RCB’s Achilles heel has historically been their bowling in the death overs. Addressing this will be key to their success. 4. Gujarat Titans (GT) The defending champions of IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans have shown that they’re a team to reckon with. Under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, GT’s all-round strength and innovative strategies make them strong contenders. Key Strengths: - Aggressive batting and clever bowling strategies. - Players like Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, and Mohammed Shami in top form. Weaknesses: They need to ensure consistency across games and avoid over-reliance on key players. 5. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Since their IPL debut, Lucknow Super Giants have impressed fans with their bold approach. Players like KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi bring versatility to the squad. Key Strengths: - KL Rahul’s adaptability in batting. - Effective all-rounders who can change the game in a flash. Challenges: Inconsistency in middle-order performance has hurt them in previous seasons. Players to Watch in IPL 2025 Shubman Gill Gill’s stellar form with the bat has made him one of the most reliable players for both Gujarat Titans and Team India. Expect him to dominate the scoring charts this season. Jasprit Bumrah If MI’s spearhead pacer stays fit, he could be the nightmare for opposition batters with his lethal yorkers and swing. Ruturaj Gaikwad The young opener from CSK has been a revelation in the IPL. His ability to anchor innings makes him a valuable player in the powerplay. Rashid Khan No IPL predictions are complete without mentioning this Afghan wizard. Rashid’s wicket-taking ability and composure under pressure make him a match-winner.
X-Factor Teams That Could Surprise While traditional powerhouses like CSK and MI remain favorites, never underestimate teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. These teams have shown in the past how an underdog can rise to the top with the right momentum. Key Factors That Will Decide the IPL 2025 Winner - Player Form and Fitness: Injuries can change the game. Teams with fit squads have a clear advantage. - Pitch Conditions: Home-ground advantage and adapting to different pitch types are crucial. - Captaincy: A smart captain can make the difference with innovative strategies. - Consistency: Teams that maintain momentum in the league stage usually perform well in playoffs. IPL 2025 Prediction: Who Will Win? Predicting the IPL winner is no easy task, given the competition's unpredictability. However, based on current form and team balance, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings emerge as the frontrunners. Both teams have the experience, depth, and quality needed to win the trophy. That said, IPL often surprises us. Don’t be shocked if Gujarat Titans or Lucknow Super Giants spring a surprise and go all the way! Final Thoughts The beauty of IPL lies in its unpredictability. [ad_1] Gautam Gambhir with Rohit Sharma (PC: X) Subhayan Chakrabarty in Pune India’s journey to qualify for the World Test Championship is currently precarious, with the future participation of veteran players like Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin in doubt due to potential retirements. Their departure could usher in a challenging era of transition for the Indian cricket team. But who are the potential replacements of some of the senior-most players of the Indian team – Rohit, Virat Kohli, Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami – when the time comes for them to bid adieu to the longest format? The likelihood of Rohit Sharma continuing through another WTC cycle seems slim, given his age. Similarly, Ashwin, who would be 41, is also likely to step back. Kohli is 35, Jadeja is 35 and Shami is 34 and the Indian team management should start grooming their replacements in the future in a bid to ensure a smoother transition. Batting options like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and B Sai Sudharsan provide some optimism on the batting front. The depth in bowling isn’t exactly thin but could be labelled as ‘raw’. Avesh Khan, Yash Dayal, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Vidwath Kaverappa, Khaleel Ahmed are some names who are being looked as potential options for the Indian pace attack in the future with Harshit and Prasidh even being part of India’s squad for the tour of Australia. The likes of Yudhvir Singh Charak, Gurjapneet Singh, Vaibhav Arora, Anshul Kamboj are few other options but they need to perform consistently at the domestic level. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Rohit Sharma (PC: X) India may have found a replacement for Hardik Pandya in Test cricket in Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is also part of India’s squad for Australia series, but he is still an unproven product in international circuits. While he has a terrific record in age-group cricket and looks like a special talent, he has just played 21 FC matches and will have to maintain his fitness levels when he becomes a regular in the Indian team. In batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal has claimed an opener’s spot, and with Rohit Sharma’s retirement anticipated soon after the WTC Final, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Sai Sudarsan are in contention. Yet, each brings different challenges; Easwaran’s reputation for underperforming in high-pressure scenarios versus his impressive domestic record, Gaikwad’s flair in limited-overs cricket contrasted with his modest first-class stats, and Sudharsan’s potential to adapt across formats. Out of all, Sudarshan passes the eye test in red-ball cricket best but will have to prove himself in India colours when he gets the chance. For Kohli’s coveted number four position, Devdutt Padikkal offers a stylish option. Sarfaraz Khan has shown promise but his adaptability across various conditions awaits validation. Rinku Singh, known more for his T20 finishing, has the stats, average of 54 in FC, but selectors need to show faith in him for red-ball cricket. In spin, Axar Patel fits well on turning tracks but, unlike Jadeja, might struggle elsewhere. Youngsters like Musheer Khan and Manav Suthar are potential future stars, though their development is ongoing. Washington Sundar stands out as a viable all-rounder option post the Ashwin-Jadeja era, with Tanush Kotian and Saransh Jain possibly following in Ashwin’s footsteps, though they would have to play more shadow tours to ensure a smoother transition. While the Gautam Gambhir-led team management and Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee have plenty of options to replace the ageing icons of the game, they would have ensure that the younger names get to start their international careers on home soil rather than throwing them under the cosh in alien overseas conditions. This will be for the for the first time that senior Indian cricket team will play a T20I match, weeks after lifting T20 World Cup at Barbados. Also, it has to be noted that Gautam Gambhir will start as the Indian head coach with the series. India vs Sri Lanka, 1st T2OI: The forecaster
Accuweather forecast for Dambulla revealed that there are a 88 percent chance for showers and there would be cloudiness of 99 percent. Besides, the chances of thunderstorms are also present by about 53 percent. This implies that relative humidity will be between 81% and 90% and the temperature will range from 29 C to 32 C.
India vs Sri Lanka, 1st T2OI: Our software’s pitch report
Analyzing the past performance, one can say that playing stylistically, the pitch of the Pallekele stadium could be beneficial for the batters, especially if more points are scored after dark. The teams bowling first may have an advantage for the reasons that dew in the evening causes teams to prefer chasing more as bowling becomes difficult.
