🎡 anon here, why is joe writing about 1989 and karlie? idk sis, he's also writing about begging his girlfriend betty to take him back after he cheated on her, and about getting brutally rejected during a marriage proposal. it's weird but it's not totally outside the realm of possibility, i think 🤷‍♀️

i do believe coney island is about karlie and the end of kaylor because the imagery in the lyrics is deeply connected to “new york” and “the sun/the light”, which we all agree (i think) is taylor-speak for “karlie kloss”

“the fast times, the bright lights, the merry go” just screams “welcome to new york, it's been waiting for you” to me (aka the hectic sheanigans of the 1989 era + the beginning of kaylor)

“when the sun goes down” is about karlie (her sunshine) leaving her for josh

“sorry for not making you my centerfold” doesn't make sense if it's not about someone who's frequently featured in magazines

“the gift-wrapped suburban dreams” taylor and karlie were literally wrapping gifts together during swiftmas!! lmao

“were you standing in the hallway with a big cake, happy birthday” i remember reading somewhere that karlie bought taylor's favourite cake from milkbar for her birthday

“when i got into the accident, the sight that flashed before me was your face” people say this is about harry, but i disagree. even if she was with harry during the accident, she was thinking about somebody else, whose face flashed before her. why would harry's face *flash before her* if the actual harry was *next to her*? imo this lyric makes more sense if it's about somebody who wasn't actually there the day of the accident, this person was just in taylor's mind

“when i walked up to the podium i think that i forgot to say your name” almost self explanatory. taylor could never mention karlie because they were closeted, that's all. why do people think this line is about joe, when she's always giving him credit??

i don't think the bridge is about taylor's exes but i have to admit it's a really cool theory.

When has she ever given Joe credit prior to this era lmao she literally never used to say his name? So much so Kay blogs said he’s fake. Like she made him SO INVISIBLE Kaylors and Haylors thought he was fake until WB and a cover for Kar or Harry.

She did make Kar her centerfold, she got her that Vogue cover.

I also don’t know if Karlie was her sunshine tbh. I think if we asisgn a color it’s fake gold/electric/lightning. I don’t think Kar was her sunshine because it was... really confusing like all the time and a total mess. They never had a nice happy exclusive girlfriends situation. Josh was always around and Karlie as we now know for sure loved him more.

So like I hear you and obviously with any muse theory there’s an argument there and you’re not like... wrong you have a pretty well argued take but I’m not sold I’m sorry.

Again, I also go back to this being a WB song. Betty and CP are fictional. This could be read as completely fictional too but it seems to parallel their actual problems (in some ways it’s not unlike peace) so that’s what I still believe lol.

However, if people hear Karlie or the hetty exes that’s cool! This isn’t a math problem, we’re not gonna get a 2+2=4 and it’s a cool theory.

yanno how I was talking about not having an answer and being super anxious?? well I still don't have an answer but I will by Monday morning. the lady called me back saying the meeting about my application went well and said that it felt positive but she didn't know the decision but to check my student account. I'm so nervous still tho (btw my top is Ohio University :))))

I'm single!! and tbh it never felt like I was dating him in the first place because of the distance and how I wasn't his top priority so that annoyed me but it's fine!! single and free and achieving my dreams!!

I need a new phone lol. my iPhone 5S won't even load tumblr anymore so it's hard to come on here and keep up most of the times. sometimes I can't download emails, pics from text messages, or update apps occasionally. it won't update and the little question mark that appears with the letter "i" still shows up lmfao. no new emojis. my phone sucks ASS. but after I buy my tix imma look for a new phone.
