I must have greeted you many times today but let me do it again before this day ends, Happiest Birthday to the boy who made me fall in love with life again. I know it’s cheesy and it’s peak delulu but it’s true.

I first saw you in Return of Superman with Kai because I was so invested with the Park siblings (Naeun and Gunwoo). At first, I was like “Who the hell are these people, are they even that famous? But hey, they’re handsome af?” If my memory is correct, my first encounter of you is back in 2019. I even watched Busted! during the early days of pandemic and Sehun was the first member that got me curious about EXO. Then in 2021, thanks to Facebook’s algorithm, I saw your DFTF MV clip and I immediately fell in love with your visuals and your deep singing voice.

Whenever I want to listen to DFTF, I always opt to watch the MV because I get to see this part! I think if someone asks me my favorite Loey era, it would be DFTF.

Two years later, I never thought I’d get so whipped that I even bought you a cake to celebrate your birthday today. I even cried while writing a caption for my Instagram post! This is the first time in my years of being a kpop fan that an idol made me so emotional. I guess you could call me a fool but I don’t care about what other people would think when I say that you make me so happy that it made my heart soft again. You made a huge impact in my life— you pulled me from my darkest of days. Your existence, your laugh, your sweet smile, your bright eyes, they shone brightly on me that it made me want to be a better person, to do better and be kinder, just like you.

Chanyeol, thank you for being born. Thank you for existing. Thank you for sharing your love for music with us. My wish for your birthday is good health, and hundredth folds of love and happiness. I hope you will be surrounded by good people who will help you grow as a person and an artist.

WHOS READY FOR SOME CENTENNIALS!!!!!! unasked for explanations below once again

This set of designs is different from Ryan's because i basically just traced my old sketches and redid them digitally to give them colour so there are less design details (sorry lmao)

ANYWAY continuing with the "time-accurate" clothing choices, I'm hoping it's more obvious with loey and neas this time. You have no idea how RELIEVED i felt when i saw neas' third overhaul was in the 2000s. I love details but I have been working with suits for like 30 designs by now.

Because I did these back in october I don't really have proper ref images but if you googled men's fashion for each of their respective eras you should get pretty good results and if you don't im sorry💀

Not sure if it's obvious but they're supposed to "age" with every overhaul, yea im aware my ability to draw people older than 40 is nonexistent-

On that note, I have a more in-depth hc for how the "human" of an engine appears which would explain how loey and neas can "age" but the short version is the "human" is a combination of the maturity of an engine's mentality and the engine's actual age

I do not know enough of the Skarloey Railway lore to back my headcanons but I hc that during their early days, the SR was more strict with appearances, hence the suit jackets and whatnot (kinda like how RWS SR engines all have the same livery)

Towards the SR's later days, the change of directorship and the increasing diversity of their rolling stock led to much more relaxed regulations on appearances. The jackets that the overhaul 2 designs are holding would look similar to the jacket that overhaul 1 loey is wearing, which would bear the engine's nametag and the signature red shoulder pad designating an engine's gauge

Also the nametag and specifically the number badge were details added later when I finished my handel and petah designs, yes I love it a lot that's why i mentioend it.

Overhaul 1 neas is particularly different from overhaul 1 loey because for one they're two different decades, but also the time between his first and second overhaul was when neas had to run the line on his own (not to mention the world war woah...)

I haven't really figured out specific height hcs yet but neas and loey are around the same height as each other but grow a tad with each overhaul

? The flirting Hia has been doing all this time has never looked serious to Real. And I understand why he'd read it as Hia playing around! We don't really know yet if Hia has been aware of his feelings the entire time, if he intentionally came on strong (stronger and stronger, really), and to what end - to test the boundaries of their 'friendship'? Or maybe to try to push Real away actually? Or did he think he had nothing to lose because Real won't like him back anyway? His smile dropping as soon as Real leaves the bar table after Hia called them friends was pretty telling in my opinion. In any case, Real developed feelings for Hia somewhere along the way so for Real it slowly changed from a friendly 'this fucker needs to stop messing with me' to a heartbroken 'he doesn't even realize that he keeps stirring up my heart huh?'

The night they both got so drunk, Hia was kidding around yet again - and he pushed it a bit too far tbh:

And Real clearly had enough of it when Hia had the nerve to ask what his problem was, if he feels shaken by his play-flirting or what? And instead of Real saying WELL DUH, he makes the unwise choice of not just fighting fire with fire, like- Fine! Have a taste of your own medicine then! How's it feel, Hia? When Real doesn't just flirt back but make an actual move? -but he even says it like that!

As soon as Hia's drunk surprised brain has moved on from 'Omg we're kissing', he panics: 'I pushed too much and now the friend I have a crush on has turned the tables on me and is fully messing with my feelings which feels awfully cruel, knowing he doesn't like me, has never liked me.' They're almost two sides of the same coin without realizing it because both of them are seemingly hiding behind the 'just kidding' excuse while actually liking each other but having no clue the other one's feelings are sincere.

Real of course is fully aware of his feelings by now, as are we as the viewers cause we've spent more time with his POV. But this episode we get a glimpse into Hia's thoughts, too. Emotionally, there's a lot going on in their fight this episode but Au and Save do a great job in my opinion:

ถ้าเกิดอะไรขึ้นกับมึงจะทำไงวะ /thaa geert a-rai kheun gap meung, ja tham ngai wa/ = If something happened to you, what would [you? I?] do/have done?

- แล้วมึงมายุ่งกับกูทำไม /laaeo meung maa yoong gap guu tham mai/ = And why would you bother with me/get involved in my stuff? - ก็กูเป็นห่วงมึงไง /gor guu bpen huuang meung ngai/ = Well, I'm worried about you/care about you!

- มึงเลิกล้อเล่นกับกูสักทีได้ปะ /meung leerk laaw len gap guu sak thee dai bpa/ = Stop joking/playing/messing around with me for once, will you! เพราะมึงทำยังงี้ไง กูเลยเป็นยังงี้ /phraw meung tham yang ngee ngai, guu loei bpen yang ngee/ = Because you're doing this, that's why I'm like this. -> Because you care about me, that's why I have feelings for you.

To Hia, for someone who doesn't respond to his flirting and has never seemed to like him back the same way, Real cares So. Much. He protects Hia, looks out for and after him, takes care of him, prioritizes him!

That last one almost made me cry tbh. This boy may come in bad boy packaging but he's such a sweet loyal soul, like, he went out of his way to buy Hia breakfast, medicine for any hangover symptoms, folded his clothes after he gave him his own PJs to sleep in, and basically left him anything he might need neatly arranged on the table. All of that after he told Hia last night that he'd stop being so involved, if that's what Hia wants. Real is actually really sincere, they just both made some questionable choices (only some of which can be blamed on alcohol), so back to the fight we go:

- กูไม่ได้ล้อเล่น /guu mai dai laaw len/ = I'm not playing/kidding/messing around! ทั้งตอนนั้น แล้วก็ตอนนี้ด้วย /thang dtaawn nan, laaeo gor dtaawn nee duuay/ = Both then, as well as now!

And I don't know that Hia necessarily was scared because Real lost his temper and thoughtlessly pushed him. He looked more scared in the sense of lost and dejected to me because this isn't them, they've never behaved like this with each other, they've never had a fight this bad, but he's aware that he himself pushed Real too far, emotionally. But that's who Hia is, he pushes and he dares to and he challenges. And Real does what Real does, he pulls back...

...and he doesn't dare to cross that line...

...and he keeps to the status quo.

It's an interesting dynamic. And a familiar one.

(as always, disclaimer: not a native Thai speaker, still learning🙏)

Hia and Real confuse me so much because it's been Hia flirting with Real this whole time and then Real kisses and so Hia runs away and Real gives him space and now Hia is... mad at Real? For... what? Real is trying to figure out what's going on and genuinely has no idea why they're struggling and so he pulls back because what else do you do when the other person refuses to talk? And then Hia gets mad that he pulls back when he... also didn't try to tell him not to leave him alone? I am lost and confused on this boys. They are the worst communicators and are a fascinating contrast to the entire rest of the show.

I do get Hia being scared when Real pushed him down but he was also grabbing and pulling is collar while accusing him of toying with his feelings when I'd be more likely to say that Hia is toying with Real since he's the one who pulled away and ran when Real finally acted on the flirting they had been doing.

Meet Me Every Friday

Pink hair, cute ears, school uniform. The boy Baekhyun met every Friday. Draped his suit jacket over the boy’s shoulders from behind, he said, “It’s getting colder, why are you only wearing uniform, you silly” The boy chuckled, so warm, just like the autumn leaves around them.

Baekhyun had always been a hardworking individual, climbing the ranks of his company at an incredible pace. He was the youngest CEO in the company's history, and as such, he had a lot on his plate. His days were packed with meetings, conference calls, and managing his team.

However, Baekhyun had always been exhausted after work, and it was beginning to take a toll on his mental health. He often felt overwhelmed and stressed out, and he knew he needed to find a way to unwind and relax.

That's why he started taking walks in the park near his office. The fresh air and the beautiful scenery always helped him feel better, and he found it to be a great way to clear his head.

On a Friday afternoon, while strolling through the park, he noticed a boy in a school uniform sitting alone on a bench, reading a book. The boy had a striking head of pink hair and adorable ears. He couldn't help but find the boy intriguing and felt a pull towards him.

"I'm Loey!" The boy introduced himself with a cheerful tone and Baekhyun couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm.

"Byun Baekhyun," Baekhyun stated his full name, even though he didn't need to. It was their first meeting, and the other boy had only given him a nickname.

They exchanged a few words, and Baekhyun was taken aback by how naturally the conversation flowed between them. Loey's smile was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, and his easy-going nature made Baekhyun feel instantly at ease.

Loey is quite talkative, and in the course of their conversation, Baekhyun learned that the boy is a senior high school student in his final year. Moreover, the younger frequently visits the park on Fridays to relax and take a break from studying.

As they parted ways, Baekhyun felt a sense of lightness in his step, his heart uplifted by the brief but meaningful interaction. He believed that meeting Loey had been a stroke of luck, and he hoped that they would cross paths again soon.

On the upcoming Friday, Baekhyun made his way to the park with hopeful anticipation in his heart. He wondered if he would see Loey again. And sure enough, there he was, sitting in the exact same spot, immersed in a book while his pink hair fluttered gently in the breeze.

Baekhyun couldn't resist the urge to talk to him again, and before he knew it, they were having a conversation about their favorite books.

"Meet me every Friday, Mr. Byun!" Loey exclaimed before saying goodbye with a sweet smile.

Baekhyun found himself looking forward to their weekly meetings. They would talk about everything and anything, from school to work to their favorite books. Baekhyun enjoyed spending time with him. Being in Loey's company brought Baekhyun joy, as Loey radiated happiness.

Just like any other Friday, Baekhyun went to the park. It was a routine that he had never known would become his favorite. His steps felt light as he strolled through the park, heading towards his favorite spot where someone special usually awaited him.

"Baekhyun!"

A voice came from behind him, and a gentle tap on his shoulder made Baekhyun turn around.

"Jongdae!" Baekhyun smiled, delighted to see his best friend whom he rarely had the chance to meet due to their busy lives. They exchanged hugs, releasing their longing for each other.
