The Advantages of Hand and Stone Massage
Due to today's lifestyle, some people need help to set aside time to relax after a demanding day. Mounting family, financial, and career demands keep people constantly on the go, and their bodies and psyches suffer from each element.
Since hand and stone massage can relieve pain and release stress, it's a great way to unwind. Hand and Stone in Carmel has the following advantages:
Reduces Daily Tension and Anxiety
Stress and worry are natural to some extent. It is the motivating force that inspires people to take action. However, the disadvantage of stress is that it can persist in the body and appear in our emotions, behaviour, and physical health. Some people plan frequent spa visits to reduce tension and anxiety. When you get a massage, your brain releases pleasant hormones. These hormones help to reduce anxiety.
Improves Mobility and Flexibility
Immobility and inflexibility can reduce our range of motion, causing muscular and joint pain, poor posture, and unintended injuries. Hand and Stone Massage in Carmel benefits almost everyone since it reduces the incidence of accidents and chronic orthopaedic disorders. Ask your doctor for recommendations if you want to experience a hot stone massage at a spa near you.
Improves Immune System Development
For excellent reasons, some people mix holistic therapies with modern health care programs, such as hand and stone massage. Aside from the apparent advantages of contemporary medicine, massage treatment can provide similar medical benefits. It can naturally improve the immune system by increasing the activity of white blood cells in the body, helping to fight disease and lowering cortisol.
Relieve Symptoms of Addiction Recovery
Addiction recovery is a cognitively, physically, and emotionally taxing process for the sufferer. Their loved ones are also suffering. Some rehab centres combine pharmaceutically induced programs with Therapeutic Massage to treat their patients' withdrawal symptoms. Touch therapy helps alleviate joint and muscle discomfort, promote sleep, and enhance digestive function during withdrawals. It can also provide preventative detoxification at the start of recovery.
Conclusion
Due to their ability to reduce discomfort and release tension, the Hand and Stone in Carmel are excellent methods for unwinding. They relax stiff muscles and increase vitality to release stress from the body.

Verses 36-42: Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk. So she told him nothing at all until the morning light. In the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. And about ten days later the LORD struck Nabal, and he died. When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the LORD who has avenged the insult I received at the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from wrongdoing. The LORD has returned the evil of Nabal on his own head.” Then David sent and spoke to Abigail, to take her as his wife. When the servants of David came to Abigail at Carmel, they said to her, “David has sent us to you to take you to him as his wife.” And she rose and bowed with her face to the ground and said, “Behold, your handmaid is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”And Abigail hurried and rose and mounted a donkey, and her five young women attended her. She followed the messengers of David and became his wife.

12th June >> Mass Readings (USA)
Wednesday, Tenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green. Year: B(II))
First Reading 1 Kings 18:20-39 Let it be known this day that you, Lord, are God.
Ahab sent to all the children of Israel and had the prophets assemble on Mount Carmel. Elijah appealed to all the people and said, “How long will you straddle the issue? If the LORD is God, follow him; if Baal, follow him.” The people, however, did not answer him. So Elijah said to the people, “I am the only surviving prophet of the LORD, and there are four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal. Give us two young bulls. Let them choose one, cut it into pieces, and place it on the wood, but start no fire. I shall prepare the other and place it on the wood, but shall start no fire. You shall call on your gods, and I will call on the LORD. The God who answers with fire is God.” All the people answered, “Agreed!” Elijah then said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one young bull and prepare it first, for there are more of you. Call upon your gods, but do not start the fire.” Taking the young bull that was turned over to them, they prepared it and called on Baal from morning to noon, saying, “Answer us, Baal!” But there was no sound, and no one answering. And they hopped around the altar they had prepared. When it was noon, Elijah taunted them: “Call louder, for he is a god and may be meditating, or may have retired, or may be on a journey. Perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.” They called out louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until blood gushed over them. Noon passed and they remained in a prophetic state until the time for offering sacrifice. But there was not a sound; no one answered, and no one was listening. Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” When the people had done so, he repaired the altar of the LORD that had been destroyed. He took twelve stones, for the number of tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the LORD had said, “Your name shall be Israel.” He built an altar in honor of the LORD with the stones, and made a trench around the altar large enough for two measures of grain. When he had arranged the wood, he cut up the young bull and laid it on the wood. “Fill four jars with water,” he said, “and pour it over the burnt offering and over the wood.” “Do it again,” he said, and they did it again. “Do it a third time,” he said, and they did it a third time. The water flowed around the altar, and the trench was filled with the water. At the time for offering sacrifice, the prophet Elijah came forward and said, “LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things by your command. Answer me, LORD! Answer me, that this people may know that you, LORD, are God and that you have brought them back to their senses.” The LORD’s fire came down and consumed the burnt offering, wood, stones, and dust, and it lapped up the water in the trench. Seeing this, all the people fell prostrate and said, “The LORD is God! The LORD is God!”
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 16:1b-2ab, 4, 5ab and 8, 11
R/ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
Keep me, O God, for in you I take refuge; I say to the LORD, “My Lord are you.”
R/ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
They multiply their sorrows who court other gods. Blood libations to them I will not pour out, nor will I take their names upon my lips.
R/ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
O LORD, my allotted portion and cup, you it is who hold fast my lot. I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
R/ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.
R/ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
Gospel Acclamation Psalm 25:4b, 5a
Alleluia, alleluia. Teach me your paths, my God, and guide me in your truth. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 5:17-19 I have come not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it.
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

A Stroke of Luck: A rare 2,500-year-old marble disc, designed to protect ancient ships and ward off the evil eye, was discovered by a lifeguard diving at sea and handed over to the Israel Antiquities Authority. >> 🧿
A marble disc, dating to the 5th–4th centuries BCE, was found during a dive by lifeguard David Shalom at the Yavne-Yam archaeological site near Palmachim Beach. Yaakov Sharvit, Director of the Marine Archaeology Unit at the Israel Antiquities Authority, explains: “From drawings on pottery, mosaics, and ancient coins, as well as from historical sources from the 5th century BCE, we learn that this design was common on ships’ bows and served to protect against the evil eye and envy, aided navigation, and acted as a pair of eyes looking ahead and warning of danger. This decoration is still common today on modern ships in Portugal, Malta, Greece, and the far east.”
The large white marble disc, 20 cm diameter, is flat on one side and curved on the other, and it has a central cavity with traces of paint appearing as two circles around the center. It is identified as an eye motif, in Greek “ophtalmoi,” and such discs adorned the bows of ancient warships and merchant vessels. Lead or bronze nails attached the center of the disc to the ship’s hull.
Although this artifact was once common and one would expect to find many similar artifacts, it is, in fact, rare. So far, only four similar ancient items have been discovered in the Mediterranean: two from the wreck of an ancient merchant ship found at the Tektaş Burnu site off the western coast of Turkey, between the islands of Samos and Kios, dating to 440–425 BCE, and two on the Mediterranean coast of Israel—one from the Carmel Beach and the other, just discovered, on the Yavneh-Yam coast.
“Yavne-Yam was settled for the first time in the Middle Bronze Age,” Sharvit says, “and was settled down to the Middle Ages. Near the ancient mound, there is a natural sheltered anchorage protected by a rock promontory.”
In water surveys conducted by the Marine Archaeology Unit of the Israel Antiquities Authority since the 1980s, finds from shipwrecked ships testifying to extensive commercial activity at the site were discovered. These include anchors of various sizes and weights with one to three holes, fishing equipment, lead weights, and stone anchors. Items used on ships were also found, including a lead cooking oven, grinding stones, stone bowls, fishing tools (bronze fishhooks, lead fishing nets, and lead depth measurement weights), as well as storage jars, amphorae, bowls, and cooking pots dating back to the Late Bronze Age, Persian, Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods!
Sharvit explains: “Many of the pottery vessels were manufactured in the Levant or the eastern Mediterranean, but some were imported from distant Mediterranean countries.” The site revealed many Bronze Age finds, including dozens of gold items (earrings, beads, jewelry fragments, ingots, and jewelry industry waste), as well as a Syrian hematite seal. The finds were scattered in the area where 20 stone anchors, bronze arrowheads, tridents, and two figurines of the god Baal were discovered in the past. The archaeological finds indicate that the anchorage was in continuous use from the Late Bronze Age down to the medieval period.
Do you know what other talismans were used to ward off the evil eye? Share them with us!

right so ! i have never measured the ingredients it's entirely based on eyeballing it and what i want out of the drink that night
decadent hot chocolate
makes about 1 and ½ish servings depending on how big your mugs are, and if you decide to use the measurements or not akna
For the record if you just wye ball the ingredients every time that 100% works and is almsot always good!
1 cup milk (any % should work ? ive used 2% and whole and they both were fine)
¼ cup chocolate (any % i use chocolate chips that are like 60% cacao?? don't use white chocolate or do tho no idea how it'll turn out aksn)
½ cup water
¼ or ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream
¾ (or more) teaspoon salt
cinnamon
¾ Table spoon espresso powder
½ - ⅓ cup cocoa powder
1 Tablespoon (or more) granulated sugar
for the whip cream
heavy whipping cream
powdered sugar
vanilla
start warming water in a kettle (optional really it just speads things up)
in a pot, over like medium high heat pour in milk *
add in chocolate *
let heat, stirring occasionally
you're just trying to melt the chocolate, and get it mixed *
if you dont melt it all the way, or don't mix it in all the way, all that happens is in the last sip you just get a bunch of chocolate so like don't worry if you don't mix it in
add heavy whipping cream
add espresso powder!
add salt, cinnamon, and vanilla, like less then a teaspoon of vanilla *
***(i don't really add vanilla but it does taste good so you can of you want??)
add cocoa powder and mix
continue to let sit on the stone for a little mixing occasionally
*(i usually do more milk then water but up to you!)
*(i use chocolate chips for convenience but go wild)
*(im inpatient so i don't usually wait the full amount of time, you could probably fix this by waiting long ler or partially melting the chocolate before you mix it)
eat while hot and enjoy! this recipe just makes the like. 'Tried and True: if it ain't broke don't fix it' type of hot chocolate. it's good but not decadent
so i added homemade whip cream, and homemade carmel, and marshmallows (not yet homemade want to try so bad tho??), mini chocolate chips, and cinnamon
ive added maraschino cherries before and they're good but sink andksk
so to make the whip cream i have this little like. whipcream single sevre portion machine that u handpump. i love it but most people don't have it
so you can use a bowl and hand whisk, or electric hand mixer (which i recommend using), a stand mixer (its alot to clean for just whip cream but does work, use whisk attachment)
high walled bowl btw
(if im doing that hand mixer i use a smaller sized bowl with high walls. adam ragusa said it best, high walls probably get more heavy whip in contact with your beaters!)
like pour in half the amount of heavy whipping cream that you'll think you want
ao if you want alot of whip cream you don't need that much heavy whipping cream it like triples its size
so in your bowl like even prior to mixing you add your vanilla, and probably only some of the powderd sugar you will end up using
like a less then a teaspoon of vanilla for like >cup of whip cream
too much vanilla makes it bitter so i err on the side kf caution
like 3ish heapedish spoons of powdered sugar
it depends on how sweet you want it, and for this i like it semi sweet so -
whisk and check how sweet it is at intervals. if its not sweet, add another teaspoon or two, whisk in and check again untill desired sweetness
then just whisk . you can go for stiff or soft peaks but don't whisk to long, stop at stiff
(i go for soft but whatever you likw!)
i wouldn't recommend making the whip cream and hot chocolate simultaneously. make the whip cream first and set it in thw fridge, especially if you don't have the little hand crank whip cream maker, bevause whip cream does take a chunk of time to make
so in your mug you poured in you hot chocolate, add your whip cream ! its v good but you can do better
add cinnamon. add alittle extra salt on top. add chocolate. (grated or cut small) add marshmallows. add caramel
its so so good, its homemade, but i didnt make it but i can share the recipe for it !

Uzziah Reigns in Judah
1 Then all the people of the land took Ozias, and he was sixteen years old, and they made him king in the room of his father Amasias. 2 He built Aelath, he recovered it to Juda, after the king slept with his fathers. 3 Ozias began to reign at the age of sixteen years, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jechelia of Jerusalem. 4 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Amasias his father did. 5 And he sought the Lord in the days of Zacharias, who understood the fear of the Lord; and in his days he sought the Lord, and the Lord prospered him.
6 And he went out and fought against the Philistines, and pulled down the walls of Geth, and the walls of Jabner, and the walls of Azotus, and he built cities near Azotus, and among the Philistines. 7 And the Lord strengthened him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt on the rock, and against the Minaeans. 8 And the Minaeans gave gifts to Ozias; and his fame spread as far as the entering in of Egypt, for he strengthened himself exceedingly. 9 And Ozias built towers in Jerusalem, both at the gate of the corners, and at the valley gate, and at the corners and he fortified them. 10 And he built towers in the wilderness, and dug many wells, for he had many cattle in the low country and in the plain; and vinedressers in the mountain country and in Carmel: for he was a husbandman. 11 And Ozias had a host of warriors, and that went out orderly to war, and returned orderly in number; and their number was made by the hand of Jeiel the scribe, and Maasias the judge, by the hand of Ananias the king's deputy. 12 The whole number of the chiefs of families of the mighty men of war was two thousand six hundred; 13 and with them was a warrior force, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred: these waged war mightily to help the king against his enemies. 14 And Ozias prepared for them, even for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and breastplates, and bows, and slings for stones. 15 And he made in Jerusalem machines invented by a wise contriver, to be upon the towers and upon the corners, to cast darts and great stones: and the fame of their preparation was heard at a distance; for he was wonderfully helped, till he was strong.
16 And when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction; and he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to turn incense on the altar of incense. 17 And there went in after him Azarias the priest, and with him eighty priests of the Lord, mighty men. 18 And they withstood Ozias the king, and said to him, It is not for thee, Ozias, to burn incense to the Lord, but only for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to sacrifice: go forth of the sanctuary, for thou hast departed from the Lord; and this shall not be for glory to thee from the Lord god. 19 And Ozias was angry, and in his hand was the censer to burn incense in the temple: and when he was angry with the priests, then the leprosy rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, over the altar of incense. 20 And Azarias the chief priest, and the other priests, turned to look at him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead; and they got him hastily out thence, for he also hasted to go out, because the Lord had rebuked him. 21 And Ozias the king was a leper to the day of his death, and he dwelt as a leper in a separate house; for he was cut off from the house of the Lord: and Joathan his son was set over his kingdom, judging the people of the land.
22 And the rest of the acts of Ozias, the first and the last, are written by Jessias the prophet. 23 And Ozias slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial place of the kings, for they said, He is a leper; and Joatham his son reigned in his stead. — 2 Chronicles 26 | Brenton's Septuagint Translation (BST) Brenton Septuagint Translation of the Holy Bible, 1884. When he takes me home, he surprises me with flowers & deserts, & we eat them & watch a movie until we fall asleep.
Sparkling Water: In a sense, I have physical "types", but I usually only worry about physical attraction after everything else, and I'll probably find someone physically attractive by default if I like their personality. A big one is if they treat me with more respect than anyone else, whether that's a man or a woman, because I date to marry & I'm not spending my life being treated the same or less than a stranger, that's so damaging to my self esteem. But also, someone who is usually kind to others, unless they don't deserve it. Someone who not only loves but is good with animals and children. Someone who knows when and when not to raise their voice with me & in general. Someone who also wants to be married and have kids. There are probably more I can't think of,but I'm already taken anyway so 😂

Rose Hip Tea: I actually love telling this story way too much. I was with this guy I met at v stock in the mall playing Pokemon cards in a league. We were on the 2nd floor of the v stock, & there were these big windows w large ledges by the bookshelves, & I was leaning over it, propping myself up on my hands, & he came up from behind me & grabbed my chin & kissed me, not like a long kiss but not a peck or anything either. It was so romantic & then I got a nosebleed like an anime girl 😭😭😭 I broke up with him like a week later for getting a haircut 😭
Herbal Tea: Something that smells like the beach or the ocean

The Divine Diagnosis: Interpreting Life’s Events | 1 Samuel 25:36-44
Was it a divine event or only natural?
Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller.
In yesterday's devotional, we saw that Abigail's appeal to David works. But now she has to return home to the celebration and tell her husband what she did. Let's see how this plays out in 1 Samuel 25:36-44:
And Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk. So she told him nothing at all until the morning light. In the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. And about ten days later the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.
When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, "Blessed be the Lord who has avenged the insult I received at the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from wrongdoing. The Lord has returned the evil of Nabal on his own head." Then David sent and spoke to Abigail, to take her as his wife. When the servants of David came to Abigail at Carmel, they said to her, "David has sent us to you to take you to him as his wife." And she rose and bowed with her face to the ground and said, "Behold, your handmaid is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord." And Abigail hurried and rose and mounted a donkey, and her five young women attended her. She followed the messengers of David and became his wife.
David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel, and both of them became his wives. Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim. — 1 Samuel 25:36-44
I think it is essential to see the comparison between Saul and Nabal today. They are comparable men—wealthy, entitled, and benefiting from David's protection equally. Both had their lives spared by David, both had females who married David, both women confided in David to help him avoid inevitable disasters, and both men died under God's judgment. The comparison is remarkable.
But the result is Nabal dies. In contemporary medical terms, it sounds like Nabal had an initial stroke and then fell into a coma and died of starvation. However, we cannot avoid David's divine diagnosis. When David hears about Nabal, he perceives a double divine blessing in this event. First, a blessing of vengeance by God for Nabal's insult. Second, Abigail's blessing of protection for holding him back from doing wrongful harm to Nabal.
This is intriguing because we often wonder about God's use of natural means to bring justice and blessing.
God often uses natural events as instruments of justice. For example, in Genesis 6-9, He brought justice to a corrupt world through the flood. Also, in Exodus 7-12, God sent plagues involving natural elements—frogs, hail, and darkness—to confront Pharaoh's defiance.
In the same way, God also uses natural events to grant blessings. For example, in Exodus 16, he provided manna to sustain his people in the wilderness. Then, in Deuteronomy 11, God promised rain for crops as a reward for obedience, using natural weather to nurture provisions for his people.
So, the question remains: Should we interpret Nabal's death as natural or divine? Did God do this? Or was this merely a natural circumstance?
And the answer to this question is "Yes!"
Like Nabal, we will all die. Death is God's judgment for all creation. What bothers us is the connection of death with God's divine providence. Are they connected? Should we see them as one and the same? David's answer is "Yes!"
Those of you who believe in Jesus see the connection here. This is because a spiritual reality is more real than the natural. Your redeemed mind sees the divine work in the natural, and there is great hope for you. While you face physical death, you escape eternal death to live forever with God. When you die, you will be raised into eternal life! This is because those who call on the Lord receive the promise of eternal life in heaven, thanks to Jesus Christ's victory over sin and death.
And for those who do not know this, you can enjoy this blessing right now by acknowledging Jesus as your Savior and Lord and choosing to live under his grace and blessings. I invite you today to trust in Jesus and choose life. We all will die as God has determined. But you can live now and forever with God. Surrender your life to Jesus right now. Acknowledge your sins, call on his mercy, and accept his gift of salvation—live now and into eternity with Jesus. Don't be foolish like Nabal, living and dying only to yourself, thus dying here and spending eternity in Hell. Death comes to us all. Choose life in Jesus and receive his blessings.
If you're ready to make this decision, you can acknowledge Jesus right now. Take this step by saying out loud, "I choose Jesus." And if you just declared that, pray this short prayer with me:
"Lord, I choose life. I recognize my need for You. I surrender my life to Your will, trusting in Jesus as my Savior. I want to live under Your grace and blessings. Amen."
If you made this decision today, write "I choose Jesus" below, and we will reach out to you with free resources to help you on your journey with Christ.
#DivineProvidence, #FaithAndLife, #ChooseJesus
Ask This:
How do you see God's hand in the natural events of your life?
What steps can you take to trust in God’s divine plan amidst difficult circumstances?
Do This:
Choose Jesus.
Pray This:
Lord, help me to recognize Your presence in both the natural and divine events of my life. Strengthen my faith as I choose to trust in Your perfect plan. Amen.
Play This:
I Choose Jesus.
Check out this episode!

Our dream
A rispetto sequence
Our dream. Said it too fine tropes, and hell! Are scarcely was thy nose like one whose lives, other breathe a preciously. This convict lies. Teaching mouth with me.—Let it shouted at once comes or fruits of fresh Rose, and twice their first I was for few or none heard him and fear, At length of flame upon that by this soueraignty he gaine, cloth’d; how waited on; sigh’d, and accept the white-hot.

While the linkt a dead man walked before me: to woo: to what win, the non-elect to say that so oft had brought she laid below the plaining, dying, but she. Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional: August 5th
Tozer in the Morning True Love
Among the innocent victims of this effete and degenerate age, there is none so pure and so beautiful as love.
Next to the word God with its various forms, there is no word so fair in all the language. Yet it may be said without qualification that this beautiful word has so suffered in the house of its friends as now to be scarcely recognizable. For the great mass of mankind, love has lost its divine meaning. The novelist, the playwright, the psychoanalyst, the writer of popular love songs, have abused this fair being too long. For filthy lucre, they have dragged her through the sewers of the human mind until she appears to the world as no more than a blowzy and bloated strumpet for whom no one any longer has the least trace of respect, the mention of whose name brings no more than a wink or an embarrassed simper. By losing the divine content from the concept of love, modern man now has remaining only what we might expect--a brazen-faced dowd whom he courts at all hours of the day and night with songs that should make a chimpanzee blush.
Tozer in the Evening In the Pursuit of God - Preface
In this hour of all-but-universal darkness one cheering gleam appears: within the fold of conservative Christianity there are to be found increasing numbers of persons whose religious lives are marked by a growing hunger after God Himself. They are eager for spiritual realities and will not be put off with words, nor will they be content with correct `interpretations' of truth. They are athirst for God, and they will not be satisfied till they have drunk deep at the Fountain of Living Water. This is the only real harbinger of revival which I have been able to detect anywhere on the religious horizon. It may be the cloud the size of a man's hand for which a few saints here and there have been looking. It can result in a resurrection of life for many souls and a recapture of that radiant wonder which should accompany faith in Christ, that wonder which has all but fled the Church of God in our day. But this hunger must be recognized by our religious leaders.
Current evangelicalism has (to change the figure) laid the altar and divided the sacrifice into parts, but now seems satisfied to count the stones and rearrange the pieces with never a care that there is not a sign of fire upon the top of lofty Carmel. [See 1 Kings 18 for the allusions.-ccp] But God be thanked that there are a few who care. They are those who, while they love the altar and delight in the sacrifice, are yet unable to reconcile themselves to the continued absence of fire. They desire God above all. They are athirst to taste for themselves the `piercing sweetness' of the love of Christ about Whom all the holy prophets did write and the psalmists did sing.
There is today no lack of Bible teachers to set forth correctly the principles of the doctrines of Christ, but too many of these seem satisfied to teach the fundamentals oft he faith year after year, strangely unaware that there is in their ministry no manifest Presence, nor anything unusual in their personal lives. They minister constantly to believers who feel within their breasts a longing which their teaching simply does not satisfy. I trust I speak in charity, but the lack in our pulpits is real. Milton's terrible sentence applies to our day as accurately as it did to his: `The hungry sheep look up, and are not fed.'
It is a solemn thing, and no small scandal in the Kingdom, to see God's children starving while actually seated at the Father's table. The truth of Wesley's words is established before our eyes: `Orthodoxy, or right opinion, is, at best, a very slender part of religion. Though right tempers cannot subsist without right opinions, yet right opinions may subsist without right tempers. There may be a right opinion of God without either love or one right temper toward Him. Satan is proof of this.'
Thanks to our splendid Bible societies and to other effective agencies for the dissemination of the Word, there are today many millions of people who hold right opinions,' probably more than ever before in the history of the Church.Yet I wonder if there was ever a time when true spiritual worship was ever a time when true spiritual worship was at a lower ebb. To great sections of the Church the art of worship has been lost entirely, and in its place has come that strange and foreign thing called theprogram.' This word has been borrowed from the stage and applied with sad wisdom to the type of public service which now passes for worship among us.
Sound Bible exposition is an imperative must in the Church of the living God. Without it no church can be a New Testament church in any strict meaning of that term. But exposition may be carried on in such way as to leave the hearers devoid of any true spiritual nourishment whatever. For it is not mere words that nourish the soul, but God Himself, and unless and until the hearers find God in personal experience, they are not the better for having heard the truth. The Bible is not an end in itself, but a means to bring men to an intimate and satisfying knowledge of God, that they may enter into Him, that they may delight in His Presence, may taste and know the inner sweetness of the very God Himself in the core and center of their hearts.
This book is a modest attempt to aid God's hungry children so to find Him. Nothing here is new except in the sense that it is a discovery which my own heart has made of spiritual realities most delightful and wonderful to me. Others before me have gone much farther into these holy mysteries than I have done, but if my fire is not large it is yet real, and there may be those who can light their candle at its flame.

Reading 1
1 KGS18:20-39
Ahab sent to all the children of Israel and had the prophets assemble on Mount Carmel. Elijah appealed to all the people and said, "How long will you straddle the issue? If the LORD is God, follow him; if Baal, follow him." The people, however, did not answer him. So Elijah said to the people, "I am the only surviving prophet of the LORD, and there are four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal. Give us two young bulls. Let them choose one, cut it into pieces, and place it on the wood, but start no fire. I shall prepare the other and place it on the wood, but shall start no fire. You shall call on your gods, and I will call on the LORD. The God who answers with fire is God." All the people answered, "Agreed!" Elijah then said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one young bull and prepare it first, for there are more of you. Call upon your gods, but do not start the fire." Taking the young bull that was turned over to them, they prepared it and called on Baal from morning to noon, saying, "Answer us, Baal!" But there was no sound, and no one answering. And they hopped around the altar they had prepared. When it was noon, Elijah taunted them: "Call louder, for he is a god and may be meditating, or may have retired, or may be on a journey. Perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened." They called out louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until blood gushed over them. Noon passed and they remained in a prophetic state until the time for offering sacrifice. But there was not a sound; no one answered, and no one was listening. Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come here to me." When the people had done so, he repaired the altar of the LORD that had been destroyed. He took twelve stones, for the number of tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the LORD had said, "Your name shall be Israel." He built an altar in honor of the LORD with the stones, and made a trench around the altar large enough for two measures of grain. When he had arranged the wood, he cut up the young bull and laid it on the wood. "Fill four jars with water," he said, "and pour it over the burnt offering and over the wood." "Do it again," he said, and they did it again. "Do it a third time," he said, and they did it a third time. The water flowed around the altar, and the trench was filled with the water. At the time for offering sacrifice, the prophet Elijah came forward and said, "LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things by your command. Answer me, LORD! Answer me, that this people may know that you, LORD, are God and that you have brought them back to their senses." The LORD's fire came down and consumed the burnt offering, wood, stones, and dust, and it lapped up the water in the trench. Seeing this, all the people fell prostrate and said, "The LORD is God! The LORD is God!"
Responsorial Psalm
PS 16:1B-2AB, 4, 5AB AND 8, 11
R./ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
Keep me, O God, for in you I take refuge; I say to the LORD, "My Lord are you." R./ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
They multiply their sorrows who court other gods. Blood libations to them I will not pour out, nor will I take their names upon my lips. R./ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
O LORD, my allotted portion and cup, you it is who hold fast my lot. I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed. R./ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever. R./ Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
Gospel
MT 5:17-19
Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven."

12th June >> Mass Readings (Except USA)
Wednesday, Tenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green. Year: B(II))
First Reading 1 Kings 18:20-39 Elijah vanquishes the priests of Baal.
Ahab called all Israel together and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. Elijah stepped out in front of all the people. ‘How long’ he said ‘do you mean to hobble first on one leg then on the other? If the Lord is God, follow him; if Baal, follow him.’ But the people never said a word. Elijah then said to them, ‘I, I alone, am left as a prophet of the Lord, while the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty. Let two bulls be given us; let them choose one for themselves, dismember it and lay it on the wood, but not set fire to it. I in my turn will prepare the other bull, but not set fire to it. You must call on the name of your god, and I shall call on the name of mine; the god who answers with fire, is God indeed.’ The people all answered, ‘Agreed!’ Elijah then said to the prophets of Baal, ‘Choose one bull and begin, for there are more of you. Call on the name of your god but light no fire.’ They took the bull and prepared it, and from morning to midday they called on the name of Baal. ‘O Baal, answer us!’ they cried, but there was no voice, no answer, as they performed their hobbling dance round the altar they had made. Midday came, and Elijah mocked them. ‘Call louder,’ he said ‘for he is a god: he is preoccupied or he is busy, or he has gone on a journey; perhaps he is asleep and will wake up.’ So they shouted louder and gashed themselves, as their custom was, with swords and spears until the blood flowed down them. Midday passed, and they ranted on until the time the offering is presented; but there was no voice, no answer, no attention given to them. Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come closer to me’, and all the people came closer to him. He repaired the altar of the Lord which had been broken down. Elijah took twelve stones, corresponding to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, ‘Israel shall be your name’, and built an altar in the name of the Lord. Round the altar he dug a trench of a size to hold two measures of seed. He then arranged the wood, dismembered the bull, and laid it on the wood. Then he said, ‘Fill four jars with water and pour it on the holocaust and on the wood’; this they did. He said, ‘Do it a second time’; they did it a second time. He said, ‘Do it a third time’; they did it a third time. The water flowed round the altar and the trench itself was full of water. At the time when the offering is presented, Elijah the prophet stepped forward. ‘O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel,’ he said ‘let them know today that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, that I have done all these things at your command. Answer me, O Lord, answer me, so that this people may know that you, the Lord, are God and are winning back their hearts.’ Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the holocaust and wood and licked up the water in the trench. When all the people saw this they fell on their faces. ‘The Lord is God,’ they cried, ‘the Lord is God.’

Godless Star chapter two: in between
master list
summary: lance wakes up and makes a place for himself on the ship, then gets kidnaped again.
note: my Spanish is rancid and i used google translate, the key is at the end of the fic
warnings: domestic violence, panic attack, puking, kidnaping, torture (they are trying), general angst,
Screaming from neighbors was a common occurrence for many people but when your neighbors are relatives it gets everyone curious, if not worried. But all three occupants are happy, loving, and healthy. When asked Marco would always dismiss it or blame himself for the arguments.
The entire family was gathered for a dinner under a clear night sky. Marco, Olivia and baby Isabel were there with the rest of the family for once.
Olivia was from Maine and only heard about Cuba in history class before she met Marco on a trip to Florida, she loved explaining what she knew of Cuba’s history to the family, like they didn’t know their own history despite the older generations actually living through the events.
“Oh, Marco, mijo, Cómo estás?” Mrs. McClain asked with worry etched on her face like carved stone. Grabbing Marco’s arms and face to check him over.
“lo estoy haciendo bien, ma” Marco said fondly, taking his arms from her hands. Olivia hadn’t liked that giving a hard glare.
“Maria why are you fussing over my husband like I abuse him?” Olivia asked with a pointed look. Mumbles of “oh brother” “here we go again” and the occasional “can we have one family meal without this?”
“It’s not like women can even abuse men, and if he ever tried I would come at him with my frying pan.” Ending her statement with a smirk, with that she walked away.
“Esa demonio mujer” muttered Luis, his wife Lisa gave him a half-assed glare for that. Little Isabel waddled Over to her papa and made grabby hands trying to say “arriba” and those around her coo’d, the tension forgotten.
Dinner proceeded as normal, the kids taking to long to sit down and being threatened with cold food, prayer being interrupted for many reasons, to finally passing food around the giant table. Lance was sat between Rachel and Marco who had baby Isabel on Marcos other side. Halfway through the meal Marco stopped eating. That wasn’t normal.
Lance looked around to see if anyone was listening or looking in his general direction, no one was. Lance was trying to figure out how to say what he wanted to say without sounding like a lunatic. I can’t just say the buzzing in my hand when I hug you isn’t like the buzzing it was when I hugged you two days from yesterday! Lance was really confused on how to approach this topic with his brother.
Marco realized Lance wanted to ask him something, but it was funny to just watch his facial expressions as he tried to ask.
“What’s up little man? You seem worried.” Marco asked in a quiet voice, he noticed how Lance looked around before trying to ask so he kept quiet. Lances royal blue eyes shot up to meet his own Carmel brown.
“Your not okay and I don’t know how to show I know, because what I want to say is loco. I think you should got to the hop- hosp- gah el, los enfermos sitio. ” Lance’s voice wavered at the end, but he got his point across.
“Well, I don’t think you are crazy, but I know you know things without a reason so can you explain?” Marco silenced Lance’s worries and asked what he was dying to know.
The McClain family noticed Lance’s gift from a young age, with predicting of things from what happens the next day like weather to events years in the future. Getting a one on one prediction was either a blessing or a warning. Based of the need of a hospital visit, Marco was sure something was actually wrong.
“When I hug you - wait do you mean explain how I know?” Lance asked, paused and then said “it’s nice that you don’t think I’m crazy.”
That pulled a chuckle from Marco, he made a big deal of humming in contemplation nodded and looked to Lance. “If you want to explain why you think I should go to the doctor, and how you know something is wrong. Marco offered. Unbeknownst to Lance, what Marco said gained the attention of a few family members al curious as to how Lance knows things.
“Um well, when I hug people, or touch people it’s like a buzzing under my skin. Not in a weird way! Like when mama plays music so loud you feel it? Yah that feeling, people have a color around them to like glowing… but not at the same time?” Lance took a deep breath, more people were paying attention now. “Like the color is on your skin but hovering? Anyway when I hugged you, you nom-normally have a really strong buzz like Veronica, Luis, and others, but you buzz was smaller like grandma E. before she went to the doctor and got better!” That revelation had people gasping and looking at each other in worry, grandma E. was in the hospital after a stroke.
“But instead of no color around your head like grandma, you have no color around your belly. Oh your color is like a purple blue, it’s nice to look at.” Lance ended his little speech with a smile.
Rachel, Lances older twin, whipped her head around and gave Lance a hard look, moved her head to look at her mother and said.
“Do people really not have that every day? No feeling other people’s feelings when you hug or seeing their colors fade when ignored ?” The expression on her face said it all, what she saw as a basic part of her everyday life was somehow odd or magical.
The table burst out in whispers, some of them were shouts, “Of course, both twins have complimentary gifts!” Many nodded their heads in agreement. Luis looked around the table and stood up, gesturing for his older brother to join him.
“I’m going to drive Marco to the hospital, we will tell you the results as soon as possible, cmon.”
“you all believe that bullshit!” Olivia broke out from her stunned silence.
“I know you are going to lose custody and go back to America after the divorce.” Lance said with a righteous attitude, and a smug smile.
“What divorce?“ Asked Marco, concern painting his face. Olivia was red as a tomato from embarrassment, or anger, it was hard to tell.
“I only thought about that a few months ago! I never told anyone, how do you know that?“ all poise had left her body as she went on a rampage of incoherent screams.
“My dreams.” Was the only answer given from Lance as he started playing with baby Isabel with his twin.
Later they found out that Olivia had been hitting Marco in the stomach with a frying pan, and as a result had caused hematoma in the liver. Sadly, when the divorce papers and restraining order were served, baby Isabel was with Olivia meaning no one could get to her until after the custody agreement was made.

Lances first thought after seeing the broken panel was a long list of cuss words on repeat that would have his grandmother rolling in her grave.
The room was getting smaller as his breathing got heavier, his thoughts passed through his head mile a minute, breath! BREATH! Nothing worked. The real panic set in, no food, no way of communicating to the castle, no way to know where he was headed. Lances chest moved in a poor mimicry of breathing, he wasn’t dry heaving but his body was going through the motions. How did he get here, where is here, he has no water, No way to communicate his family- the team. Lance’s breathing stopped, his thoughts slowed from a rampaging waterfall to a trickling stream.
Lance rose from his place on the floor to his knees. when did I get on the floor? He took a deep breath, which was oddly easy given what happened.
The team has allura to pilot blue, and Keith is back in red so I was extra. Did they throw me in here? I won’t put it past them I was a horrible paladin.
Looking around the pod Lance realized it was actually pretty spacious. It was big enough for a loft that was probably for storage. He had been on the floor when he woke up and there wasn’t a bed. As he was in the front of the ship. He was farthest from the airlock door, and in front of the control panel was what looked like glass, but the gold shine hinted otherwise. On the right wall had a door under the loft, and closer to him was a screen the size of an average flat screen T.V. and to the left of him was a wall of cabinets, a shelf and under that more cabinets.
Lance knew standing up would be problem, the nausea from just being on his knees was a lot already. He decided to just shuffle over to the mystery door, inside was a toilet and sanitizer. If I’m going to throw up I might as well do it in the toilet. Resigned to his fate he stood up.
Grabbing the counter Lance pulled himself up. The effect was immediate. Tremors wracked his body, gagging on nothing till something came up.
0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0
Lance stayed in the bathroom for a while after in case it would happen again. It didn’t. Sighing he stood up without the excessive need to puke thankfully. Moving back to the main room he shuffled to the wall of cabinets and proceeded to open each and every one of them.
7 packets of food
1 bottle of the weird sanitizer
4 blankets
2 bottles of mystery liquid
And a set of typical Altean clothing
Three pads of paper
2 pen like things
And 2 med kits.
Lance was fucked, if he had three meals a day the food would only last a two days and a breakfast, having two meals a day would last 3 1/2 days. So Lance resolved to only eat one packet a day.
At least I won’t get cold with all the blankets.
After putting everything back into the cabinets, Lance moved to the other side of the room and taped the screen. It lit up, half in a partial map of the general direction the ship was moving and the other half was a keyboard! Upon closer inspection, the keyboard was in Altean.
Looking back to the map the trip would take 12 quintants or 14 days as 12quintants x 28 hours =336 hours and 336hours/24hours = 14 days. It was always kind of funny how people always thought Lance was dumb, as if he didn’t pass the garrison admission tests like everyone else. This was going to be a pain in the ass to deal with. On top of everything his original plan of one food packet a day had to be halved!
Lance decided to orient his circadian rhythm to the destination time and grabbed all four blankets and head up to sleep in the loft, using one blanket as a pillow, another as a cushion between the metal and his skin, with the last two to use as regular blankets.
Day 1 2 - Lance managed to sleep for a whopping 20 hours meaning he woke up really hungry, after doing the calculations, he could technically eat a whole food packet as he didn’t eat one when he divided his portions. The food packets tasted a little better that the food good at the castle, it was probably some spice that was used as a preservative. For the rest of the 12 hour “day” period Lance wandered around the ship familiarizing herself everything he could.
Day 3 - after eating and going to the bathroom, Lance mainly stared out at the void sometimes getting up to stretch. Lance did learn that if he swiped at the it would disappear and show a radar. It soon became part of his hourly routine.
Day 4 - similar to day three his morning started out the same but instead of just sitting around all day he did a basic exercise routine from his early garrison days. The only difference was instead of trying to do everything as fast as possible Lance did parts of it every hour after checking the radar.
Day 5
Lance woke up to blaring alarms and a shaking ship. What type of fucked up turbulence is this? With a deep sigh he left the safety of the loft. Now able to stand he turned to the wall computer to look at the radar.
“Well that’s just plain rude.” Lance’s voice was scratchy from lack of use. There was a big Galra ship that was shooting at him. It’s not like I can do anything until they get on the ship. Lance decided to just wait until they either explode or board his ship.
It was another hour before they started to board. Lance decided hie wanted to have the element of surprise and got on the loft. When the first sentry came in Lance jumped it. The sentry thankfully had a gun and after a disappointing fight where he was easily overpowered, Lance found himself in an cell.
Nursing a gunshot to the leg, he had to rip his pant leg to make a bandage. The cells next to him had to or three beings in each of them, and four cells down was an alien that was screaming and shaking the bars was causing a big ruckus.
Stick it to the man. Eventually a big galra came and went bringing food to the others. And when he came to lances cell two more guards walked in. Big guy number 1 opened the cell door as big guys number 2 and 3 when to grab Lance. Unable to properly fight half starved and bleeding, Lance willingly went with them.
The others haven’t even come to rescue me. To Lance nothing showed up on the radar and it had been probably over six days sense he woke up in the pod. They really abandoned me, if they were looking they would have found me by now. Lance didn’t even care to map out where the guards were taking him.
Oh shit, Lance started struggling when he saw the room they brought him into. A god damn torture room. A Druid stood in the back of the room preparing something. Lance was able to twist out of one of the guards grip, and became more aggressive to the other guard. Lance forgot about the third guard. Lance felt a hand on the back of his neck and was throw on the floor. The next thing lance registered was that he was tied to the table and all three guards where walking out of the room.
The Druid walked into Lances peripheral al with a knife and a syringe. With skill the Druid moved the knife to Lances neck, barely touching but still a threat. And stabbed Lance with the syringe and started chanting.
The only thing Lance could register was blinding white hot pain. Thrashing violently until his arms and legs were tingling and twitching. The scream he had let out had the ship shaking, equipment fell to the floor and a cabinet fell. Lance could here the Druid curse in some foreign language. After Lance stoped screaming the Druid grabbed a golden liquid ad threw it on Lance yelling “DIE”
Lance didn’t die, in fact he did the opposite, he healed. The burning sensation faded into a simmer and then to nothing.
“What the fuck was that!” Lance screeched. The Druid proceeded to bolt to the other side of the room type on a computer and join some form of demented group call for haggar and her magic friend group. The Druid proceeded to shout something in the same foreign language as before and everyone shut up, haggar said something and the Druid grabbed another vile of the gold stuff and poured it out onto him.
“WHY do you keep doing THAT!” Shocked screeching came from the call.
The empty voice of haggar broke the chaos. “ I will be there soon, give him food.” And hung up.
Key (I used googling translate this time around I am sorry) Oh, Marco, mijo, Cómo estás? - oh Marco, darling, how are you? lo estoy haciendo bien, ma” - I am doing good (I don’t think that’s right tbh) Esa demonio mujer- that daemon woman (word reference) arriba - up el los enfermos sitio - the, the sick people place

Isaiah’s Message of Deliverance
1 And it came to pass when king Ezekias heard it, that he rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth, an went into the house of the Lord. 2 And he sent Heliakim the steward, and Somnas the scribe, and the elders of the priests, clothed with sackcloth, to Esaias the prophet the son of Amos. 3 And they said to him, Thus says Ezekias, This day is a day of tribulation, and rebuke, and provocation: for the children are come to the travail-pangs, but the mother has no strength. 4 Peradventure the Lord thy God will hear all the words of Rapsakes, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God and to revile him with the words which the Lord thy God has heard: and thou shalt offer thy prayer for the remnant that is found. 5 So the servants of king Ezekias came to Esaias. 6 And Esaias said to them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the Lord, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of the Assyrians have blasphemed. 7 Behold, I send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a report, and shall return to his own land; and I will overthrow him with the sword in his own land.
Sennacherib’s Blasphemous Letter
8 So Rapsakes returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Lobna: for he heard that he had departed from Lachis. 9 And he heard concerning Tharaca king of the Ethiopians, saying, Behold, he is come forth to fight with thee: and he returned, and sent messengers to Ezekias, saying, 10 Let not thy God on whom thou trustest encourage thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hands of the king of the Assyrians. 11 Behold, thou hast heard all that the kings of the Assyrians have done in all the lands, to waste them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered? 12 Have the gods of the nations at all delivered them, whom my fathers destroyed; both Gozan, and Charran, and Raphis, and the sons of Edem who were in Thaesthen? 13 Where is the king of Haemath, and the king of Arphad? and where is the king of the city of Seppharvaim, of Ana, and Aba?
Hezekiah’s Prayer
14 And Ezekias took the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and he went up to the house of the Lord, an Ezekias spread it before the Lord, 15 and said, O Lord God of Israel that dwellest over the cherubs, thou art the only god in all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth. 16 Incline thine ear, O Lord, and hear: open, Lord, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherim, which he has sent to reproach the living God. 17 For truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have wasted the nations, 18 and have cast their gods into the fire: because they are no gods, but the works of men's hands, wood and stone; and they have destroyed them. 19 And now, O Lord our God, deliver us out of his hand, and all the kingdoms of the earth shall know that thou alone art the Lord God.
Sennacherib’s Fall Prophesied
20 And Esaias the son of Amos sent to Ezekias, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, I have heard thy prayer to me concerning Sennacherim king of the Assyrians.
21 This is the word which the Lord has spoken against him; The virgin daughter of Sion has made light of thee, and mocked thee; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at thee.
22 Whom hast thou reproached, and whom hast thou reviled? and against whom hast thou lifted up thy voice, and raised thine eyes on high? Is it against the Holy One of Israel?
23 by thy messengers thou has reproached the Lord, and hast said, I will go up with the multitude of my chariots, to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Libanus, and I have cut down the height of his cedar, and his choice cypresses; and I have come into the midst of the forest and of Carmel.
24 I have refreshed myself, and have drunk strange waters, and I have dried up with the sole of my foot all the rivers of fortified places.
25 I have brought about the matter, I have brought it to a conclusion; and it is come to the destruction of the bands of warlike prisoners, even of strong cities.
26 And they that dwelt in them were weak in hand, they quaked and were confounded, they became as grass of the field, or as the green herb, the grass growing on houses, and that which is trodden down by him that stands upon it.
27 But I know thy down-sitting, and thy going forth, and thy rage against me.
28 Because thou was angry against me, and thy fierceness is come up into my ears, therefore will I put my hooks in thy nostrils, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
29 And this shall be a sign to thee; eat this year the things that grow of themselves, and in the second year the things which spring up: and in the third year let there be sowing, and reaping, and planting of vineyards, and eat ye the fruit of them. 30 And he shall increase him that has escaped of the house of Juda: and the remnant shall strike root beneath, and it shall produce fruit above. 31 For from Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and he that escapes from the mountain of Sion: the zeal of the Lord of host shall do this.
32 Is it not so? Thus saith the Lord concerning the king of the Assyrians, He shall not enter into this city, and he shall not shoot an arrow there, neither shall a shield come against it, neither shall he heap a mound against it. 33 By the way by which he comes, by it shall he return, and he shall not enter into this city, saith the Lord. 34 And I will defend this city as with a shield, for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
Jerusalem Delivered from the Assyrians
35 And it came to pass at night that the angel of the Lord went forth, an smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand: and they rose early in the morning, and, behold, these were all dead corpses. 36 And Sennacherim king of the Assyrians departed, and went and returned, and dwelt in Nineve. 37 And it came to pass, while he was worshipping in the house of Meserach his god, that Adramelech and Sarasar his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Ararath; and Asordan his son reigned in his stead. — 2 Kings 19 | Brenton's Septuagint Translation (BST) Brenton’s Septuagint Translation of the Holy Bible, 1884. LIGHT OF LIFE 433
John 1:4
UNDERSTANDING PROPHETIC MANDATES 67: THE PROPHET 5
Amo 3:7 CERTAINLY, THE ALMIGHTY LORD DOESN'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS HE FIRST REVEALS HIS SECRET TO HIS SERVANTS THE PROPHETS. GW
4. Most Prophets have had difficult lives of personal self-discipline, denials and sufferings.
Heb 11:36-38 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings; yes, more, of bonds and imprisonments. They were stoned, they were sawed in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented. The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains and dens and caves of the earth. MKJV
God just called Moses into the cloud and I’m sure he didn’t know he’d be there for 40 days without food or water.
Maybe then he would have told the people.
Such is the life of a Prophet.
Exo 24:16,18 And the glory of the Lord was resting on Mount Sinai, and THE CLOUD WAS OVER IT FOR SIX DAYS; AND ON THE SEVENTH DAY HE SAID MOSES' NAME OUT OF THE CLOUD…And Moses went up the mountain, into the cloud, and WAS THERE FOR FORTY DAYS AND FORTY NIGHTS. BBE
Did you notice that Moses first waited for 7 days before God even had him proceed?
I guess that must have been for his consecration before he was even worthy to ascend the mountain.
5. True Prophets are mostly hated because they don’t commonly say what people like to hear.
Their functionalities mostly involved warning people about impending dangers and judgment.
Jer 28:8 FROM EARLIEST TIMES, the prophets who preceded you and me INVARIABLY PROPHESIED WAR, DISASTER, AND PLAGUES AGAINST MANY COUNTRIES AND GREAT KINGDOMS. NET
Agabus spoke twice in Acts: 1st to warn of Famine and next about Paul’s imprisonment.
This is why people are commonly afraid of True Prophets.
1Sa 16:4 Samuel did what the LORD told him to do and went to Bethlehem, where the CITY LEADERS CAME TREMBLING TO MEET HIM AND ASKED, "IS THIS A PEACEFUL VISIT, SEER?" GNB
6. Lastly here, Prophets are commonly very lonely people because their lives are too enigmatic and complicated to comprehend.
They rarely dwell in the midst of people.
Mat 11:9-10 Or DID YOU ENCOUNTER A TRUE PROPHET OUT IN THE LONELY WILDERNESS? YES, JOHN WAS A PROPHET LIKE THOSE OF THE PAST, BUT HE IS EVEN MORE than that! He was the fulfillment of this Scripture: See, I am sending my prophetic messenger who will go ahead of me and prepare hearts to receive me. TPT
John the Baptist’s family were neither paupers nor homeless, but he separated himself to God.
Luk 1:80 Afterward, their son grew up and was strengthened by the Holy Spirit and he grew in his love for God. JOHN CHOSE TO LIVE IN THE LONELY WILDERNESS UNTIL THE DAY CAME WHEN HE WAS TO BE DISPLAYED PUBLICLY TO ISRAEL. TPT
They are also commonly found on Mountains or isolated places, far from people and dwellings.
They probably just feel nearer to God when they ascend Mountains.
2Ki 4:25 THE WOMAN WENT TO MOUNT CARMEL TO GET THE MAN OF GOD. The man of God saw the Shunammite woman coming from far away and said to his servant Gehazi, "Look, there's the Shunammite woman! ERV
Why treat this issue this seriously?
Many love to call themselves Prophets just because they see visions of the future or related experiences.
Can they “drink the cup” that Prophets drink?
Mar 10:37-38 “WE WANT TO SIT NEXT TO YOU WHEN YOU COME INTO YOUR GLORY,” they said, “one at your right hand and the other at your left.” Jesus said to them, “You don’t have a clue what you’re asking for! ARE YOU PREPARED TO DRINK FROM THE CUP OF SUFFERING THAT I AM ABOUT TO DRINK? And are you able to ENDURE the BAPTISM INTO DEATH that I am about to experience?” TPT
We like “seats of glory” and Labels of honour with engraved tags. We love to be seen as special with boisterous exploits in Ministry.
Apart from the error of pride, whatever honour you will receive as a Minister of the Gospel will have to remain within the scope of your own Ministry.
Rom 12:6-7 God’s marvelous grace IMPARTS TO EACH ONE OF US VARYING GIFTS AND MINISTRIES THAT ARE UNIQUELY OURS. So if God has given you the grace-gift of prophecy, you must activate your gift by using the proportion of faith you have to prophesy. If your grace-gift is serving, then thrive in serving others well. If you have the grace-gift of teaching, then be actively teaching and training others. GNB
There are GIFTS and then MINISTRIES.
If your CALLING is PROPHECY, go ahead, but you’ll definitely have the full experience and lifestyle of the Prophet.
But if it is a mere gift of Prophecy, use it along with your Ministry without tagging yourself as a Prophet. You will go into errors if you do.
Jer 29:9 They are prophesying lies to you and claiming my authority to do so. But I did not send them. I, the LORD, affirm it!’ NET
May God find us all in our individual place of Ministry when He comes, IN JESUS NAME.
Come back on Monday, for the last of this long but insightful Sub-Subtopic.
Keep Shinning!
