04 JUNE 2024: US Weekly, "Inside Kate Middleton's Recovery: She 'May Never Come Back' in Royal Role We Remember (Exclusive)"
According to the second source, Kate’s team is “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back,” noting, “She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.”
[...] The reprieve is a welcome one for the couple. “The announcement that the royals won’t be able to work as much has been unexpected, but it will allow Kate and William to spend more time together,” says the second source. “They’ve been reconnecting and are closer than ever.”
05 JUNE 2024: Tom Sykes of The Daily Beast, "Kate Middleton ‘May Never Come Back’ as She Was: Report" [archive link]
In remarks likely to displease the palace, which has sought a blackout on reporting about Kate’s health apart from official updates, the outlet added that Kate has been spotted out and about with family and on her own.
06 JUNE 2024: William attends D-Day 80th Anniversary celebrations in France.
07 JUNE 2024: NY Post, "Kate Middleton not pressuring herself to see anyone amid cancer battle: ‘Doesn’t care truly what anyone thinks’" [archive link]
“Kate’s recovery is a one day-at-a-time thing,” an insider told Life & Style. “She’s not putting any pressure on herself to do anything or see anyone because deadlines in a situation like this can make the recovery way more stressful. She doesn’t care truly what anyone thinks.” [...] And while her home life seems to be as strong as can be — especially after insiders said that she and William are now “closer than ever” — the same can’t be said for her royal duties at this time. A source claimed this week that Princess Catherine “may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.”
08 JUNE 2024: Emily Prescott, Daily Mail, "Princess Kate rewards 'Girl Friday' Natasha Archer for her loyalty with new top job as senior private executive at the Palace" [archive link]
In a move that has been interpreted in Royal circles as a reward for her loyalty, Ms Archer has been appointed to the new role of senior private executive assistant to Kate and William. Ms Archer, 36, updated her profile on the LinkedIn career website last week to reflect her upgraded status. Previously she was a PA and stylist, and was pictured carrying Kate's bags on and off planes for Royal tours. Ms Archer's promotion follows reports that she personally collected The Princess of Wales from the London Clinic after her abdominal operation earlier this year. After that, the mother of two was brought into the innermost circle of select friends and family members who have been supporting the Princess through her private cancer battle. Sources say Ms Archer, who is married to Royal photographer Chris Jackson, has been dedicated to her employer. She has been inseparable from Kate in recent months, often assisting her as she travels to and from hospital appointments. Now she will have a title and salary that reflects her trusted status.
09 JUNE 2024: Reddit post stating Kate had been seen at the St. Regis in Houston, Texas.
10 JUNE 2024: Rumor then starts that Kate is being treated at MD Houston Cancer Center on Twitter.
Houston Chronicle posts an article with a response by Kensington Palace to the rumor. [archive link]
A rumor that Kate Middleton is being treated at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is false, according to a Kensington Palace representative. Speculation about the princess' location has grown since she announced her cancer diagnosis in March. She began preventative chemotherapy in February, according to Kensington Palace, with no estimated date of when she might return to public duties.
11 JUNE 2024: Tom Sykes of The Daily Beast, "No Timeframe’ for Kate Middleton’s Return to Royal Duties: Source" [archive link]
Another source, an old friend of the family, said that they thought it would be “bizarre” if Kate appeared on the balcony at Trooping the Colour this weekend having declined to appear for her own regiment a week before. “I think this idea that Kate is suddenly going to pop up on the balcony on Saturday is far-fetched,” they said. “It would be wonderful, of course, but more than slightly bizarre given that she bowed out of the Colonel’s review.” [...] The Daily Beast has reported that Kate may not be seen publicly until next year, while the Daily Mail reported that Kate’s friends have said “we might not see Catherine again until the autumn—and only then if she has recovered fully.” Us Weekly alleged that the Princess of Wales’ team is “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back.” The palace has dismissed such reports as speculation. Her office has reiterated that she needs “space and time” to convalesce.
13 JUNE 2024: Richard Eden of the Daily Mail writes about Andrew and Royal Lodge:
There has been some suggestion, it is true, that the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children could move into 30-room Royal Lodge. The Waleses currently live in four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage at Windsor. However, a source close to William and Catherine tells me they are very happy there and have no wish to leave. In due course, they will occupy Windsor Castle. ‘The last thing William and Catherine would want is a load of controversy about their getting another big house,’ says a friend. ‘They already have their large home at Kensington Palace and their Norfolk property, Anmer Hall, in addition to Adelaide Cottage. There was a fair bit of criticism of the cost of renovations to their Kensington Palace home and they would not want to go through all that again.’
Tiktoker said she saw Kate shopping with Charlotte and Louis. [archive link]
Kate Middleton was reportedly seen on a shopping spree with two of her children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, at a popular clothing store. The claim has been made by a TikTok user @lolchesss, on the video platform, who saw the Princess of Wales out and about with her younger ones, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. However, she clarified that she didn’t take any photos or videos in a bid to respect her privacy as the future Queen of England continues her public absence amid a cancer battle.
14 JUNE 2024: Kate announces she will attend Trooping the Colour:
Additional commentary regarding Kate's public statement:
(William made a separate statement regarding Kate's "start to engage with the work and projects," as he was not part of Kate's statement.)
Eleanor Hayward, The Times, "Kate’s ‘bad days’ from chemo will be brutally familiar to others" [archive link]
Kate is having preventative chemotherapy, also known as adjuvant chemotherapy. This is when drugs are given to “mop up” and destroy any cancer cells that are lurking in the body after surgery — to prevent cancer spreading or returning in future. Often patients undergoing preventative chemotherapy receive lower doses than those having it as a primary treatment, reducing the extremity of the side-effects. The length of chemotherapy varies from cancer to cancer. Professor Bob Phillips, professor of paediatric oncology at the University of York, said that the timeframe for chemotherapy treatment was “hugely variable”, adding that it was “traditionally between four and six ‘cycles’ of chemo, each cycle lasting 21 days and consisting of a day or few days of chemo”. He added that there would then be “time for the body to recover from it”, while the chemo keeps damaging the cancer cell. Phillips said: “Generally speaking, the healthier someone is before cancer treatment, the closer to optimal the amount of chemo and the gaps between chemo can be. Generally, the younger someone is, the healthier they will be.” [...] He added that preventative chemotherapy can “be given at lower doses and therefore be easier on the patients."
15 JUNE 2024: Kate attends Trooping the Colour and stands on the balcony for the flypast.
Allison Pearson creates a fire storm with her piece, "Our Fair Lady: Princess of Wales’s selfless display was the tonic that Britain needed"
Two words: Thank you. Thank you Princess of Wales for being an absolute trouper and attending Trooping the Colour on a cold, grey day when lesser mortals with your illness would have stayed home, tucked up in their jim-jams. Thank you for sacrificing the privacy that is so much needed to get you back to full health. Thank you for such a show of support for the King, who is not a well man, on his official birthday, and for giving a boost to the wider Royal family – which has sorely lacked star power since you withdrew from public life in January to have major surgery. Thank you for channelling the gamine beauty of Audrey Hepburn in that wow of a white dress with a jaunty, outsize, stripy black-and white bow. You are Our Fair Lady.
16 JUNE 2024: Kensington Palace releases a new photo of William and three kids for Father's Day.
21 JUNE 2024: Kensington Palace releases a new photo of William and three kids for his 42nd birthday.
(No photo was released for Kate's birthday in January.)
Tom Sykes, The Daily Beast, "William and Kate Will ‘Encourage’ Charlotte and Louis to Not Be Working Royals" [archive link]
They were speaking after a report in the Daily Mail said William not only agreed with his father King Charles’ drive to slim down the monarchy but would go even further. The report cited a friend as saying: “When the older members of the family retire, (William) won’t be inviting anyone else to become working royals. It remains to be seen if he will even want his two younger children to be working royals.” The source said of the report, “It’s absolutely true. The option isn’t there for George, of course, but the children have been kept at arm’s length from royal life. They are exposed to the minimum possible publicity, and that is a deliberate strategy to let Charlotte and Louis choose their own destiny.” [...] Critics, of course, will argue that if the couple don’t want the children to take on formal royal duties, they should stop promoting them, and the royal family should stop using them to market itself. The children are often featured in Wales family photos (most recently their Father’s Day snap with William, and Wales promotional videos, such as those released after Trooping the Colour, which featured the kids extensively. Prince Louis’s facial antics have made him a superstar, and similarly Princess Charlotte is seen as a commanding big sister.
22 JUNE 2024: Kensington Palace releases a photo of William, George, Charlotte, and Taylor Swift:
25 JUNE 2024: Sophie, The Duchess of Edinburgh, is seen wearing the Lotus Flower Tiara, which was previously worn by Kate from 2013 to 2022, at the state dinner for Japan. The Lotus Flower Tiara no longer appears to be in the possession of (or loaned out to) Kate.
03 JULY 2024: William attends the Order of the Thistle service in Edinburgh with King Charles & Queen Camilla.
04 JULY 2024: William spotted on a scooter at Windsor Castle.
06 JULY 2024: William attends the Euro quarterfinal between England and Switzerland.
People magazine (US) announces that William will star in a documentary about his short-lived effort, Homewards, this fall. [archive link]
The Prince of Wales' Homewards program, dedicated to ending homelessness, will be featured in a compelling two-part ITV documentary series that will air on ITV1 and ITVX this fall. Titled Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, the series will chronicle the first year of this five-year initiative. Viewers will follow Prince William, 42, as he launches Homewards across the U.K., capturing the stories of individuals currently facing homelessness and those with lived experience.
Last day of school for George, Charlotte, and Louis at Lambrook School until Wednesday, 04 September 2024.
Kate sends a "personal message" to Andy Murray on Twitter.
08 JULY 2024: Ellie Hall publishes "The Disappearing Timeline of Rose Hanbury" for Vulture (New York magazine). [archive link]
As far as royal scandals go, the Rose-William story barely registers on a list that includes the far more sordid (and substantiated) stories of the previous generation of Windsors, such as Squidgygate, the now-King Charles’s infamous tampon comments, and the whole Fergie toe-sucking thing.
The Telegraph posits that The Duchess of Gloucester may present trophies at Wimbledon in Kate's absence. [archive link]
The Duchess of Gloucester has been earmarked as a likely candidate to present the Wimbledon trophies this weekend if the Princess of Wales is unavailable, as she continues her recovery from cancer treatment. All England Club Chair Debbie Jevans told Telegraph Sport in the build-up to the Championships they would give the Princess “as much flexibility as possible” in determining whether she is able to fulfil her ceremonial duties as Club Patron on finals weekend, including leaving a decision until the morning of the women’s final on Saturday.

Hi, What do you think about the cheating rumors? I stopped watching royals 4 years ago, and I am shocked! What has happened? WTF is Rose back? Is Will stupid enough to get rid of her?
What happened recently? So much happened, anon. Let's see if I can give you the TL;DR.
January 16: Kensington Palace announced that Kate was having planned surgery on her abdomen and wouldn't be making any public appearances or sharing further details.
January 29: Kensington Palace announced that Kate had returned home from the hospital. People were upset there was no "proof of life" photo of Kate.
February 9: The Waleses go to Sandringham/Anmer Hall for the kids' half-term break. There are two sets of gossip from royal reporters. Gossip #1 - Kate is well and healthy and with the family. Gossip #2 - Kate's situation is worse than we're told and it's dire.
February 27, in the morning: William pulls out of attending King Constantine's memorial service of thanksgiving. KP says it has nothing to do with Kate but it's later confirmed that it wasn't true, that William pulled out because of Kate's diagnosis.
February 27, in the evening: Sussex Squad makes conspiracy theories about Kate go mainstream and viral on Twitter/social media. I won't rehash them all here but the rumors get dark and blame William and bring back the original Rose affair rumors.
March 4: Kate and Carole papped in a car around Windsor near the kids' school. Kate doesn't look like Kate, jumpstarting conspiracy theories again.
March 10: UK Mother's Day. The Waleses publish a photo of Kate and the kids taken by William. Sussex Squad goes after the photo for having been edited. Getty, and other agencies, kill the photo. It blows up into a huge thing. Celebrities pile on with their own jokes and memes about editing their photos, including Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian.
March 11: Kate issues a statement taking responsibility for editing the photo and apologizing for it. William and Kate are papped in a car leaving Windsor Castle.
March 12: Stephen Colbert jokes about the Rose affair rumor on his show.
March 16: Kate is papped with William at the grocery store. People claim it's her lookalike double because her hair is too hair and she's too skinny. (WTF, yes, I agree.)
March 22: Kensington Palace drops bombshell video statement by Kate that cancer had been found in whatever was removed during her operation in January and she was beginning a course of preventative chemotherapy. No further work or public engagements for Kate at this time. The celebrities that piled onto Kate during "March Madness" (the conspiracy theories and photo-editing weeks) get served humble pie and issue meek apologies that mean nothing.
April 23: Louis's birthday. As a consequence of the way the media flipped out over the Mother's Day photo, the Waleses publish the birthday photo (taken by Kate) exclusively to their social media and don't distribute it to media / photo agencies.
April 29: The Waleses publish an old new-to-us photo from their wedding for their anniversary on their social media.
May 2: Charlotte's birthday. Same deal with Louis - Kate takes the photo, they publish exclusively to their social media and don't distribute it in advance to the photo agencies / media.
May 12: Camilla is papped at the Badminton Horse Show talking to Rose Hanbury. No one cares.
May 14: Sussex Squad finds the photos of Camilla and Rose from the weekend and bring back the affair rumors. They claim that Kate is dead and the BRF is soft-launching William's mistress as his new girlfriend/future wife.
May 15: Charles and Camilla attend the OBE dedication at St. Paul's Cathedral. So do the Cholmondeleys but because they're not photographed with Charles or Camilla, no one notices they're there and no one cares they're there.
So that's what happened. That's where we are today.
How did the affair rumors start?
Discussion about whether the affair rumors are mainstream and how damaging they could be to William and Kate's reputation
Commentary about Rose

Reminder that the British aristocracy's wealth came from looting and exploiting their former colonies while doing things like pushing the Opium trade in China for example. They are just thieves, proudly parading their stolen loot. These people have no shame. The fact that these thieving, racist, xenophobic, classist aristocrats still have fans is something that amazes me daily.
Rose Hanbury, Marchioness of Cholmondeley, Accused of Possessing Looted Chinese Artifacts
After images were recently widely circulated anew from older stories in the Financial Times, Vanity Fair, and other media about Hanbury and Houghton Hall—the 18th-century estate in the Norfolk countryside where she lives with her husband David Rocksavage, the Marquess of Cholmondeley, and their three children—some social media users have taken particular note of specific pieces of oriental decor, suggesting that they may have been pillaged from China during the late Qing Dynasty, toward the end of the 19th century. “The luxurious life of Prince William’s ‘mistress’ Rose actually came from China,” reads the title of a post last week on Xiaohongshu, an Instagram-like Chinese social media platform. According to the post—and similar ones spread across other Chinese social media platforms like Weibo and Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok) and eventually also on the likes of TikTok, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter)—Hanbury’s husband had inherited the furniture in question from the Sassoons (of which he is a descendant through his paternal grandmother, Sybil Sassoon). In fact, the Sassoons, nicknamed “the Rothschilds of the East,” were a Jewish Baghdadi family that owned and oversaw a 19th-century trading empire, which grew much of its immense fortune dealing in commodities like textiles, tea, and notably opium across India, China, and beyond. As future generations of Sassoons gravitated toward England, they officially entered the British aristocracy when the family patriarch’s son Abdallah was knighted in 1872 as Sir Albert. Since then, the Sassoons gained prominence as wealthy business owners, politicians, and friends of the royal family. While the Sassoons played a significant role in shaping China and were avid collectors of art from around the world, it’s unclear whether they acquired specific items through purchase or pilfering. The height of their business in the country, however, coincided with China’s “century of humiliation,” which started in 1839 and ended in 1945 and was marked by the looting of millions of artifacts—most notably from the Old Summer Palace in Beijing, which was ransacked by British and French soldiers during the second Opium War.

‘Prince George to play official role in the King’s Coronation: Second in line to the throne name as one of Charles III’s four Pages of Honour for May 6 ceremony
Prince George is to become the youngest future king to play an official role at a coronation, having been named one of his grandfather’s four Pages of Honour. T
he nine-year-old will be tasked with carrying the King’s robes alongside three other Pages of Honour - schoolboys Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, 13, Nicholas Barclay, 13, and Ralph Tollemache, 12. All three are the sons of His Majesty’s friends. Meanwhile, the Queen has chosen to include as her own Pages of Honour her three grandsons, twins Gus and Louis Lopes, 13, and Freddy Parker Bowles, 12, as well as her great-nephew, Arthur Elliot, 11.
All eight are expected to wear matching scarlet uniforms and will form part of the procession through the Nave of Westminster Abbey.
Pages of Honour traditionally wear a knee-length scarlet coat with gold trimmings over a white satin waistcoat and lace jabot - a decorative ruffle or frill falling from the collar - white breeches, white stockings and black shoes with buckles. They also carry a small ceremonial sword.
The May 6 ceremony will mark the biggest moment on the world stage for Prince George, second in line to the throne and the youngest of the eight Pages.
His parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, are understood to have thought long and hard about whether to allow him to take on an official role, owing to his tender years. It is thought that they made their decision after discussing it with him in detail to ensure he was comfortable with carrying out such a public duty.
His siblings - Princess Charlotte, seven, and four-year-old Prince Louis, who turns five later this month - are expected to attend the Coronation but sit among the congregation. Prince George is thought likely to join them for the service.
The decision to give the Queen’s family such high-profile roles is said to represent a new era of equality behind palace walls, reflecting the King’s devotion to his wife and the realities of the modern blended family. It is thought that her granddaughters, Lola and Eliza, may also play a role in the ceremony, although further details have not yet been announced.
Palace sources noted that pages are traditionally boys and so only grandsons of a suitable age could be chosen.
Lord Cholmondeley is the second son of the Marquess of Cholmondeley, the King’s Lord-in-Waiting, and his wife the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, former model Rose Hanbury. The couple also have a son, Alexander, Earl of Rocksavage, Lord Cholmondeley’s twin brother, and daughter, Lady Iris, seven. It is understood that Lord Cholmondeley was chosen for the Coronation role in recognition of the fact that his twin is set to inherit their father's title. The family live at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, which is just four miles from Anmer Hall, the Prince and Princess of Wales’s country retreat. The foursome are good friends.
Nicholas Barclay is the grandson of Sarah Troughton, one of the Queen’s Companions and the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire. The Colman’s Mustard heir is a second cousin of the King and a former lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of Kent. Her daughter, Rose - Nicholas's mother - is one of the King’s 32 godchildren.
Ralph Tollemache is the elder son of banker Edward Tollemache, also one of the King’s godchildren, who was a Page of Honour to the late Queen from 1988 to 1990. His younger brother, James, was friends with the Prince of Wales at Eton. They are the sons of brewery heir John Tollemache, 5th Baron Tollemache, and his garden designer wife Alexandra Meynell.
While Prince George will be the only one of his three siblings with an official role, all three are expected to take part in the Coronation procession from Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace. Plans show that George, Charlotte and Louis will all join their grandfather and the Queen as they leave the Abbey following the ceremony. They will then likely appear together on the palace balcony.
At the past two coronations, young heirs have remained in the congregation. In 1937, Princess Elizabeth, aged just 11, watched as her father, George VI, was crowned. At Elizabeth II’s own ceremony in 1953, Charles, aged four, sat next to his grandmother Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.’

Style inspiration: when Rose Hanbury becomes the Marchioness of Cholmondeley
Continuing on my fascination with Brit aristos with a more bohemian bent (but still very natural and elegant), here are some pics of Rose Hanbury with a more polished style befitting her social status:
It’s less overtly sexy but more upscale bohemian. I love the nature graphic in the above dress, it’s very striking. This pic below fascinates me because it’s a bridge between her London nightlife-centric style and her more elegant, soignée style:
When she married, she became mistress of a very renowned country estate, Houghton Hall, and her portraiture became grander. But I like the informality of her outfit here. Not casual, still polished but also not a fancy ball gown that you’d expect:
Here she is with the very wealthy and titled husband, I love the Talitha Getty vibes of her outfit here:
This pic is much more “we are very posh and relaxed.” I wish Rose were standing up, I want to see her dress!
I love that her “ball gown in a fancy place” portrait is one where she is pregnant:
But I love Rose best when she is dressed with romantic but natural simplicity. It is very cottagecore, but when the cottage is a grand estate in Norfolk, I think we’ve superceded the term:
I mean, it’s all right out of a classic novel. Or at least a book about eccentric British style, which is where this pic is from:
Here she is with her daughter on the grounds of her home, looking like a character in a Henry James novel:
Since becoming the mistress of Houghton Hall, her style has become both refined but still romantic. She experiments more with bolder color and prints in an artful way:
Yet she always seems unpretentious, unforced, at ease. I generally think a lot of the Turnip Toff gang dress pretty safe and uninspiring, but Rose has genuine style to me. I have some more recent pics of her but don’t worry — this isn’t turning into a Rose fashion fan blog anytime soon. This milieu isn’t big on publicity and photos aren’t churning out like crazy. But it’s fun to hunt down what I can!

The following is a continuation of other aspects of living expenses in the UK for international students, including mobile and internet prices. Staying in touch with loved ones is perhaps one of the most essential needs that should be fulfilled when a person is studying abroad. Foreign students will need to purchase a local SIM card with call and data charges, internet – Wi-Fi, and television charges, bearing in mind the increasing usage of social networks. For savings offers and the cheapest suppliers of telecom networks, look out. After completing the list of wants for your home and before you buy your Wi-Fi connection, compare the costs.

In this case, any unforeseen circumstance may lead to a negative experience in the United Kingdom, but, knowing all the necessary and unnecessary expenses and preparing a detailed budget, they will be able to have a successful and enjoyable stay.

Magic has a home in all cultures spanning existence well before mankind took to writing it down. Every culture that existed has crafted their rituals and their words and all of it colors history. Those that don’t know dismiss the evidence as superstition and mythology and create their own studies to explain it in ways they can understand. Grimoires and the like are novelties in the hands of the uninitiated and those unable to put the knowledge to use.
One study Hanbury College has become known for over the past years is that of languages both living and long dead, some not even understood today. Faculty and students alike bend their necks over artifacts, translating what is known and telling themselves that it isn’t impossible that they might be the person to finally decipher those tablets and scrolls currently unreadable.
It can be tedious work, some may even find it dull, but perhaps there is a breakthrough that can come out of Westerberg Hall. That is why they all chip away at what they understand and bicker among themselves. Theories may clash but it is all working toward the same end.
Among the recent acquisitions of the department sits a book. It is not unlike many they have seen, simply another tome in an untranslated language to argue over. They now prepare to do so for the next few years to come, hoping to avoid having to ship it off to the next place for research for someone else to have the chance to understand something someone hasn’t understood for centuries.
Perhaps that fate can be avoided this time. Maybe it is time for a breakthrough to come out of Westerberg Hall. But will it be for something good or something unexpected, something of a kind of evil nobody there is qualified to deal with?
