Alice
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/FZhoDY9
by CloverAndStarkley
Note: This is a Avengers and Hamish And The WorldStopper series crossover, but it isn't necessary to have read the books. Just know The Avengers and you'll understand the storyline
Starkley seems like an ordinary town from the outside, but the people there know that it's one of the most important places ever. It's the very town Belasko keeps its secrets in. It’s the very town that six children saved the world in. It's the very town that time stopped in, was overrun by monsters, became a farm for flytrap killer plants; Starkley is more special that people think. And it's about to get even more exciting.
When S.H.I.E.L.D faces a major supervillain they have never fought before, Fury decides that getting Belasko's help is the only option. But while the spy agency isn't so eager to help, the PDF are ready for anything. Including a bunch of family secrets along the way.
When Alice and friends come to save the day, Thor cannot shake the feeling he has about the thirteen year old girl. The girl with raven black hair, green eyes and the sharpest wits. Things are about to get complicated.

this reminds me of a book i read as a kid! it was called ‘hamish and the worldstoppers’ and it was about these monsters called the worldstoppers that froze time to kidnap/eat people, but there were a handful of kids who weren’t affected by the worldstoppers because there was this specific material that was used in their dental fillings that made them immune to the freezing effect. the book was part of a series involving the main character’s dad being part of a secret agency and shit, but i kinda lost interest after the second book. was obsessed with the first one though. i loved the illustrations too.
There was a kids series I saw in a library once, which I never read and which I don’t remember the title of, but the central conceit of which stuck in my brain. The conceit was that there was a secret eighth day of the week only experienced by a small subset of the population, and that day was when the monsters and fantasy shit existed. Which is a fantastic concept. First off it neatly snips one of the big issues of kids fantasy because the masquerade is inherently self-reinforcing- and even if it did somehow become known that there was a secret eighth day, the ripple effects that that would cause in the rest of the week wouldn’t take the world too far away from what we’d consider recognizable. Second, it enforces the common kidslit trope of “wake up, go to school, save the world”- while a series like Animorphs is at least in part about how maintaining that separation would be untenable, part of what’s surreal about this conceit is that you’re never going to get away from the mundane world in a way that matters- you’re spending seven-eighths of your life there, the mundane school crap you’re dealing with on Monday is still going to affect you going forwards even when Unsday rolls around. And third, it allows for a real scattershot selection of who in the protagonists life gets to be in on it and who’s out, which leads to fun dynamics. Your best friend doesn’t get to come on your adventure but you see your Vice principal in there, and he sees you. Your crotchety old neighbor, the woman you see on the bus but never speak to, your uncle but not the one you’re particularly close with. A whole wainscot society with completely arbitrary membership, resulting in unlikely relationships which can then bleed into the mundane world in interesting ways.

Book in the Spotlight: Hamish and the Gravity Burp by Danny Wallace
“Another hilarious adventure from bestselling author Danny Wallace, perfect for fans of David Walliams, Roald Dahl, David Baddiel and David Solomons! This may look like just a completely and utterly ordinary book. But it's not. This book knows something terrifying: that the people of Earth face their gravest, grimmest threat yet! When Hamish arrives home to find his mum and his brother lying flat on their backs ON THE CEILING, he knows there's something seriously wrong (again) in the town of Starkley. What is the strange burping noise he keeps hearing? Why are weird seeds suddenly falling from the sky? And should he be worried about the odd woman with a cone around her neck? All Hamish and his gang the PDF can be sure of is that an adventure is coming. And that means two things: * You have to be prepared. * You have to prepare a sandwich.”
Discover the 3rd adventure in the Hamish and the PDF series by Danny Wallace! Hamish and the Gravity Burp is now available at Treasure Trove! Hamish and the Worldstoppers and Hamish and the Neverpeople, books 1 and 2, are in stock as well!

Hamish and the Neverpeople fanart!
I tried to show Holly's rebellious nature a lot in this picture, with her hair being super choppy because I like to think she cut it herself, and the added piercings. With Alice, I tried to show how she's more stubborn, with the rectangular pupils. I also added a few scars, as she probably got into a few scrapes growing up. I tried to show how similar the two are, with their determination and stubbornness, but also show their differences.

I am a one man fandom over here, so my solution is to make as much fanart and fanfic about Hamish and the worldstoppers as I can. (Which isn't much, since I'm not that great at writing but I'm trying)
READ IT I promise it's good 😔😔😔
