Am I Late? (AU)

Tick Tock. Tick Tock. Thats all Ardian kept hearing as he laid on his couch with Wolverine laying right by him. He had been in a state of depression. Ever since Haleigh texted him letting him know she was engaged. He still has yet to process the news properly.

He honestly couldn't process the news. He lost her for good and it was nothing he could do about it. The news caused him to stay in his house and sleep and eat. Thats all he did was sleep and eat. He let his hair grow which eventually he got twists in it and he let his facial hair grow.

He didn't look like or act like himself. Tick Tock. Tick Tock. Time was getting away from him. Only thing he wanted was to either wake up from this nightmare or just continue to sleep on. Was he happy for Haleigh? Yes. Something in him wasn't letting him show that happiness.

Each day he got a message from his best friend as she kept him up to date. He felt his heart shatter into more pieces. Ignoring her was best for his heart and his peace of mind. Nothing he could do could change how he felt. He was so glad Norbit was on it could help him get his mind off of Haleighs upcoming wedding.

The scene where Norbit was in the church with Kate and expressing himself was on. His phone dinged again probably Haleigh. Picking it up he seen his Mother left a voicemail. Unlocking his phone he went and played it.

"Ardian, you have 30 minutes to get yourself together. I mean it. Get your damn haircut. Shave whatever that thing is on your face. Get your ass in the shower. Then go and get your girl. If I show up to your house and you looking like who did it and ran. I will beat you all the way to the barbershop then to the church. Get it together."

Ardian listened to the voicemail over andp over again. His mothers words taking over the tick tock that was playing in his head. Breathing heavily Ardian went through the text messages Haleigh had sent him. He missed her engagement dinner rehearsal and her bacherlotte party.

That was fine with him gave him time to get back to Ardian. Sitting up he slid his feet into his nike slides and grabbed his keys leaving for the barbershop. Sitting in the Barbers chair he tuned out all the noise. He just thought about Haleigh. He hoped and prayed he wasn't late in stopping her wedding.

When the barber was finished with Ardian, he checked himself out in the mirror and was pleased. He looked like himself again, paying the barber he headed back home and instantly got in the shower. He took an hour to shower so he could honestly get back to Ardian. After he was done showering he got out and wiped the steam from the mirror.

He stared at his reflection his mothers words playing like a record. Get your girl. Brushing his teeth he just kept praying he wasn't late in stopping the wedding. Shuffling out the bathroom and to his room he seen a tux on his bed with a note.

"Your mama sent me to the cleaners to pick your tux up. Do not let Haleigh go again."

Ardian laughed softly at the note his dad left and started to get dress. Bow Tie or no Bow Tie? Opting for no bow tie Ardian kept the few buttons of his white button up open. Putting his shoes on he sprayed Haleighs favorite scent on himself.

He was ready. Grabbing his jacket he told Cuddly to keep charge of the house which caused Cuddly to growl at him. The drive was about 30 minutes and Ardian broke every traffic rule. As soon as he pulled up to the church he hopped out and ran inside the church finding it empty. His thoughts starting to get the best of him.

Taking his phone out his pocket he went to Haleighs text messages. Getting the address to the reception hall Ardian ran out the church and got back in his car. The reception hall was 10 minutes away. With the way Ardian was driving he got there in 5 minutes.

Sitting in his car for a few minutes he let out a few deep breaths then stepped out. Music was playing but it wasn't slow romantic music. It was music he played at a reunion. Was he that late? Taking slow steps he made his way inside the recpetion hall. Seeing all of Haleighs family dancing and smiling caused Ardian to smile. He was so busy watching them he didn't see one of Haleighs family members standing next to him until they spoke.

"Good to see you, Light Bright."

Ardian jumped slightly then turned and looked at Apryl.

"Hey Ms. Apryl. You look good."

"Oh, Ms. Apryl? I'm not your Aunt no more?"

"I don't know."

Apryl smacked Ardian on the back of his neck causing him to flinch.

"Stop playing with me, Light Bright. Your girl is in there. She hasn't danced yet."

Ardian stared at Apryl for a few minutes then headed over to Haleigh. Standing in front of her he smiled.

"I heard you didn't dance yet."

"Nope not in a dancing mood."

Kneeling down Ardian grabbed Haleighs hand.

"I know you pissed at me for missing your party and engagement dinner."

"Why did you?"

"I couldn't sit there and pretend to be happy knowing deep down I really wasn't. I would have broke my own heart."

"Like you broke mines."

"Pigtails, I have one question. Am I too late?"

"No, you're not too late. We didn't get married."

"So what you say, after we leave here. We go back to my house eat some wedding food and cake. Watch Norbit and maybe just maybe you think about giving me another chance."

Despite herself Haleigh smiled at her bestfriend.

"I hate you at times Ardi."

Ardian shrugged standing up and helping Haleigh up. Haleigh frowned seeing the first few buttons of Ardians shirt open.

"Sir, your buttons."

"Ma'am your dress."

"Let another girl come up to you and your teeth hang out your mouth. We going to have a problem."

"We can only have a problem if that means you my girl again."

"Let's dance and your eyes better stay on me."

Laughing Ardian led Haleigh to the dance floor and started dancing with her. Both of them was smiling at each other. Kandice, Tasha, Trinity, and Apryl was standing in the back watching all four of them sporting smiles.

"Our babies got it together."

Kandice spoke up over the music.

"I had to threaten Ardian but he got the hint."

During Haleigh and Ardian dancing Melody, Micah, and Messiah came and started dancing with them.

Haleigh Bowers releases new single ‘Jealous’

Haleigh Bowers, a self-proclaimed word nerd based in Los Angeles, is in the midst of taking the world by storm. Inspired by authors and musical artists alike, she channels her passion for language and storytelling into potent lyricism that probes at the human psyche. She uniquely combines vulnerable introspection and evocative melodies to transcend the boundaries of modern folk rock - undoubtedly leaving you wanting more.

Bowers is set to release her much anticipated debut solo album, Living Proof in the spring of 2022. In the meantime, she will be kicking things off with the release of her new single, 'Jealous'. Born out of a nightmare, Haleigh playfully examines the derailing power of Othhello's "green-eyed monster" - jealousy.

"The lyrics of 'Jealous' are quite literal... I had a dream that my partner at the time was attracted to someone else. We were sitting on a curb and he kept staring at them. I woke up and the emotions of anger and jealousy seeped into my day. I picked up my guitar and started processing what I was too embarrassed to admit - I was jealous. But only in my mind...not necessarily because of the reality of the situation."

I am Fat and I am Worthy

I’m Fat. I happen to use this word as a self-descriptor, and I don't say it to put myself down, and I certainly don't say it in hopes that someone will say, 'Oh no, you're not fat!' Because that's the thing, nobody says to a tall person, 'Oh, you're not tall!' And, nobody says that because 'tall' is not a dirty word.

I was hosting a party at my home a few months ago, when a girl stood in front of me, that I had known for 10+ years, squeeze her stomach and say “God.. I am so fat” before bringing the dark bottle of beer back up to her lips. In my drunken-stupidness, I put down my drink and yelled “I’m the fattest bitch you know!” And stood with my hands on my hips. Her, and a few of her friends stopped and went “Oh no Honey! No no You’re so beautiful you’re not fat!” I laughed and shook my head and said “Exactly. I’m both” and walked away. This speaks wonders of where I am in my life. It speaks wonders about my self love journey and my hopes of where others could be.

My journey of self-love, is long and tiring and just like any other journey, you have setbacks and you have days where It’s not great, but it is possible.

You can’t have a self-love journey, without a self-hate journey as well. I don’t remember the first time I cried because someone at school called me fat, but I do have a memory of a boy in my fifth grade class, hitting me with his crutches, spitting on me down the aisle way on the bus mooing at me and telling me to, “Move, you fat cow.” I cried that day for a long time ( Thank you Austin Backas). I remember making a wish to be skinny on my birthday candles every year from age 11-16.

At 14-years-old, I started down the path of starvation and self-hate that manifested itself into my physical world, rather than just in my head and my heart . This went on for three years. There was a period of time, when I was 16 when I would starve myself, and then run until I couldn’t anymore. This was my way of forgetting my hunger. My size at age 16 was becoming a death sentence. With the mindset, I was living my life in, my doctor told me at my first appointment that I went to alone (16- years-old) that I was going to kill myself if I kept exercising the way I was without nutrition. At the time, this sounded like the perfect thing. To die trying to be beautiful. Now? I'm so glad I stopped. I'm so glad I'm here. I’m so glad I get to see the world as it is today

I wore a shaper for probably three years straight, every day. Whether I was wearing a nice dress or a t shirt, I wore a shaper that physically altered my body forever. I told myself I would look smaller if I wore it, and didn’t understand how much I was hurting myself. I started doing things I wouldn’t normally do.  I hid this from people close to me.

Most people didn’t notice the drastic drop in weight, they didn’t notice that I was finding every excuse in the book not to eat, and to avoid shopping. I avoided photos and events that would include me having to eat, or exercise around others because I knew I would overdo it. I used to get up early before my dad and go for runs, I would run and run in the cold air and I loved it, but I would do it to the point that I would vomit. I wouldn’t stop until then. It wasn't until the summer after my junior year that a friend noticed when we were at the beach and I was running up and down, we sat down in the sand and he turned to me and said “You’re dropping weight like crazy.” And I got a giant grin and said “30 pounds in 5 weeks!” His face fell, he noticed that I thought he was complimenting me. “That’s dangerous.” He said before shaking his head. This was the first time I was ever confronted about my self hate by a friend.

I dated a boy my senior year of high school, who was the first and last significant other who bruised my skin. When trying to end things, he grabbed me in the hallway and said “No one will ever care for you like I do” And I turned with a fist up and chuckled and said “That’s the point.” before I ripped my arm out of his grip. The purple bruise on my shoulder for weeks sparked a fire in me. It sparked an idea that I was worth more. He was popular, He told me how pretty I was when I did my makeup, and dressed up for him, and how nice I looked when I “tried”.  I came across a quote from Milk and Honey that reminds me of this time in my life (looking back on it 4 years later) "When you are broken and he has left you do not question whether you were enough the problem was you were so enough he was not able to carry it" and thank god he wasn’t able to carry it because She is.

At age 17, my girlfriend (still my better half to this day) noticed my shaper. She started to push and poke at the idea of me not wearing it. I shrugged it off and avoided the topic until my freshman year of college. I stopped wearing it. The last time I wore it casually, was my first day of freshman year. I occasionally wear my shaper now, when I’m going to a fancy dinner because sometimes It helps me feel good in a nice outfit, otherwise? I don’t wear it.

I’ll tell you what I do wear though, that helps me feel good: Crop tops, tight jeans, bralette, see through tops, cute underwear, bikinis, high heels, bright lipstick, body suits and many many other things. These are things that society has deemed to be appropriate for skinny women to wear, and what I say to that? Screw it. I love crop tops, and if ellensburg wasn’t so cold, I’d probably wear one every day.

At work, my manager came over to me and said “Maddie, your jeans are too tight” I looked down at my skinny jeans and back up to her and chuckled before biting my tongue. She went to the back room and I looked to my coworkers before laughing. Puzzled, they asked me what's wrong, and I told them what she had said before saying “You know, I wanted to say, yes I’m fat, my jeans are always going to be tight” and we all laughed together and compared how tight your jeans all were. It was nice, for once not to be told “Oh honey, you’re not fat!” It was nice to be accepted, and have my self-love and self awareness be accepted by those around me.

Newsflash, I know I’m fat. I know that I’m not going to fit in a size medium shirt, and I know I’m not going to fit in a size 10 jeans and no I can’t fit into your sweat pants at a sleepover, I have my own in the car don’t worry and no, I probably can’t borrow that hella cute top you just wore, but that’s okay! I Love my body the way it is, and so do my friends. I know my body is good, whether I’m in sweatpants, no makeup and my hair a mess or a ball gown, my body is good. My body is good in a sweater or no clothes at all. I am worthy.

I now am surrounded by some of the most genuine people on this earth. I am surrounded by people who encourage me to be better, and push me to be the most loving person I could be (Because man, who couldn’t love them?). So this is a thank you, to those people who push me every single day to love more, and smile more, and stand out more.

"Melly Mel," Haleigh cooed kissing her baby sister's cheek.

Haleigh picked the three year old up, sitting her in her lap continuing to kiss and blow on her cheek making her giggle. Ardian sat beside them on the sofa, with a smile on his face. Her hadn't spent a lot of time with her little sister, just her little brothers.

"Who's sissy's pretty girl?" Haleigh asked excitedly.

"Meee!"

"And what's your name, pretty girl?"

"Me Mewody Khari Reigns, sissy."

Haleigh raised her hand for Melody to slap. "And can you spell Melody?" Melody nodded repeatedly, smiling and showing all her little baby teeth. "Spell it for me."

"M-e-l-o-d-y. Mewody. Yaaaaay!"

"Yaaaaay! Good job, pretty girl. Mommy told me that you child spell your name so Sissy got you a surprise. Sit with Ardi while I go get it."

Haleigh passed Melody to Ardian and jogged out of the room to get the toy and clothes she had bought for Melody from upstairs. Ardian smiled at the little girl.

"You're very smart, Melody. Who taught you to spell your name?" Ardian asked.

Melody huffed at him. "Mommy and Daddy."

"You gonna spend the night with me and Sissy?" Melody shook her making Ardian frown. "But you brought your bag, Melly. You don't wanna stay?"

"Melody and Sissy stay. You not stay, Sissy mine."

"I can't stay too?" Ardian asked trying to tickle the little girl under her chin. She waited until one of his hands got close to her mouth and bit down hard on one of his fingers. "Ow, fuck," he yelped snatching his finger from the three year old's mouth. She'd broken the skin.

Haleigh came back into the living room with two bags, looking at Ardian and Melody strangely.

"What's wrong with you, Ardi?" She asked sitting on the floor beckoning for Melody to come to her.

"Nothing, was bitin my nails and bit too low," he said cradling his finger.

Haleigh laughed, "I told you stop biting your nails, crusty. It's it bleeding? You need a band aid?"

Melody plopped down on Haleigh’s lap top prevent her from getting up if he dared to say yes. She glared aaay him with her brows furrowed.

"Nah, I'm okay."

Haleigh nodded then started to pull things from the bags for Melody. She got the little girl three different outfits, three headbands, three pairs of shoes and a play make up set.

"You like you things, Melody?" Ardian asked still checking his finger.

Melody ignored him and turned to hug her sister. "Tank you, Sissy."

"You're welcome, smart girl. Ardi got you the make up set, go give him a big hug too."

Quickly getting up from Haleigh’s lap, Melody ran over to Ardian and held her hands up to him. Ardian hesitantly plucked the little girl up and hugged her, ignoring Haleigh’s coos.

"I'm gonna go cook dinner. Maybe if you ask nicely Ardi well open your make up set, Melly," Haleigh said as she got off the floor to head to the kitchen.

"Open it, now."

"Say please, Melody. That's not nice."

Melody put her little hands on his cheeks, giving him a sweet smile. He couldn't help but smile back. Melody leaned her head back then forward, head butting Ardian's mouth.

"Dammit," Ardian swore softly.

Melody giggled and got out of Ardian's lap to grab her toy. "Sissy, him say bad word!"

"Baby, please stop cussing in front of her. My mama will kill you if she goes home repeating any of it," Haleigh yelled from the kitchen.

Melody held the toy out to Ardian wearing the same sweet smile. She had plans to get him and she wasn't going to stop till she had her sister to herself.

"It sure is," Haleigh nodded.

The sisters stopped so Melody could point to and stare at a poster on the wall. They were backstage of the arena at the Raw after Wrestlemania. Haleigh’s mom, her other siblings, aunts and cousins had come along with her, Ardian and Carlito and of course Melody didn't want anyone but her sister.

Ardian and Carlito had gone ahead to meet Rezar and Roman in catering while the sisters stopped off at the bathroom. Haleigh had been to enough shows with her daddy to know how to maneuver backstage without getting lost.

"Alright, pretty girl. Let's go meet up with Daddy." Haleigh told her pulling on her hand a bit.

Melody looked up at her and smiled. "Daddy eat, eat, Sissy."

Haleigh laughed pulling her sister along. "Yeah, he's getting food, baby. Come on."

Wrestlers that had been around Haleigh as she grew up, spoke to her and Melody, who wasn't very fond of anyone talking to her, on their way to catering. The sisters stood in the entry way as Haleigh looked around trying to spot one of the men she was looking for.

"Excuse me, Miss."

Haleigh stopped looking around the room and looked to her left at the person talking to her. She smiled a bit to be polite and Melody glared at them.

"Uh yes?"

"I'm sorry for just walking up on you like that, you just looked a little lost." He told her smiling and rubbing his hands together.

Melody let go of her sister's hand to move around so she could find Roman. She wanted Roman to make him go away.

"Oh no," Haleigh laughed, "I'm not lost. I'm just looking for someone. Thank you though."

"Whoever let you roam around here by yourself is a fool. You're too beautiful to be by yourself. I'm Lio. What's your name?"

"Uh, thanks, Lio. It's Haleigh and I really need to find someone so," she said trying to go around him but he didn't budge.

Lio laughed and Melody growled at him catching his attention. He bent down to her level smiling.

"Hey there, cutie. What's your name?"

Melody held onto Haleigh’s leg and jumped at Lio. "My sissy. You go 'way."

"Be nice, pretty girl."

Lio stood back up, moving his focus back to Haleigh. "She's cute. So what is it gonna take for you to let me take you out?"

"No, um that's not gonna work. I'm sorry, do I not look familiar to you?" Haleigh asked trying to be as nice as she could.

"You look like the girl of my dreams if that's what you mean."

Melody had finally spotted her daddy standing with Rezar, Ardian, Carlito and a few other men. She took off towards them not giving Haleigh a chance to catch her. When she got to Roman she pulled on his pants leg till he picked her up.

"Hey Babygirl," Roman said happily. "Where's Sissy?"

Melody pointed in the direction she came from. "Him move from Sissy, Daddy."

"Is that Lio? The hell is he doin by my daughter," Roman growled under his breath. "Rezar, can you hold her please?"

All three men looked in the direction she was pointing and sucked their teeth. Haleigh had her arms crossed and a frown on her face, clearly unimpressed with whatever Lio was laughing about.

"Nah," Ardian said shaking his head, "I got it. Dad, you'll hold Lito for me, real quick?" He passed his son to Rezar getting ready to cross the room to get to Haleigh.

"You sure? Cause I can handle it, been doin it her whole life."

Ardian nodded, very sure of himself. "I got it. I be back."

As Ardian approached them, he locked eyes with Haleigh, who visibly lit up. She was very happy to see him so she could get away from Lio.

"What's up man? Why you so close to her?" Ardian asked looking Lio up and down.

Lio frowned a bit then started laughing. "Her and I was just chopping it up about this date ima take her on. Ain't that right, Red?"

"No, not at all and my name isn't Red."

Ardian shrugged, unable to fight the smirk on his lips. "Ion know man, don't sound like she goin nowhere with you. So do yourself a favor and go about your business."

"Don't really think we were talkin to you so why don't you step away. Let me finish talking to the beautiful lady."

Laughing a bit to himself, Ardian turned to Haleigh and kissed her lingering for a few seconds then turned back to Lio. She was taken back by Ardian's boldness, she wasn't used to him being that way.

"And I think you're done talking to her. You've embarrassed yourself enough, it's not gon happen. Right, baby?"

Haleigh mumbled a small yes, staring hard at her boyfriend as she switched her weight from foot to foot a few times.

"That's alright, she knows where to find me later when she wants a real man that can give her what she needs," Lio quipped still laughing.

"What is it that you think she needs?" Ardian asked folding his arms across his chest.

Lio grabbed himself through his joggers, "You know that answer already, son."

Haleigh scoffed, disgusted at the audacity. If Lio hadn't already offended her with his terrible flirting that was definitely the nail in the coffin. Ardian swung his arms at his side laughing along with Lio then swung his right fist. His fist colliding with Lio's jaw knocking him to the floor.

Ardian squatted down beside Lio, who wad holding his jaw, ignoring Haleigh and Roman calling his name and Rezar fussing at him in Dutch.

"Disrespect my lady again, in front of me or not, and ima do worse than that next time." Ardian smacked his face lightly before standing back up. He ignored his father's co-workers staring to approach Haleigh. "You aight?"

Haleigh nodded folding her arms once again. "I'm alright, Ardian. You didn't have to do that."

"Like hell he didn't," Roman fussed.

Rezar passed Carlito back to Ardian, Roman passed Melody to Haleigh and both snatched Lio up off the floor. Rezar called Ardian once more.

"Yeah, Dad?" Ardian answered never turning away from Haleigh.

"We talk later."

Ardian nodded as both their fathers left the catering area with Lio in front of them. Haleigh leaned in to kiss his cheek.

"That was nice of you to do that, Ardian. Thank you."

"Don't thank me for doing my job, Pig Tails."

Haleigh nodded then turned her attention to Melody, who was smiling. "What's so funny, Melly?"

"Ardi hit him, Sissy!"

"Yeah," she laughed, "He hit him because he said something not nice to Sissy, pretty girl."

Melody's eyes lit up and she reached out for Ardian. Even though Ardian was praying to himself that she didn't bite him again, he traded kids with Haleigh and held Melody in his arms.

"What's up, Mel?"

"Me like you, Ardi," she giggled kissing his cheek.

Haleigh laughed at his facial expression. "Don't look so shocked, crusty."

"Shit, I am," he said honestly.

"Come on let's go find our seats," Haleigh said leaving the catering area. "And we will talk about what happened later. Alone."

Ardian smirked, "Alone or alone, alone?"

"Alone, alone."

Kai: We don't, Mommy.

Roman: Ten is good. Let's go, trips.

Melinda: Ready to go eat, AJ?

Cookie smiled: Can I call Simba and Milo to show them when I get it?

Yazmine smiled: Oh really? Mommy didn't know that, guess I'll smile more at Daddy.

Melody: Yay! Shopping!

Haleigh grabbed her kids hands: Daddy's tired so we're gonna go shopping and let him stay home after we eat. Deal?

Jey laughed: Cause they palates better than you and Paco's

Rezar: He wouldn't and wet made sure of it. Knew he was gonna have to take care of Haleigh and the kids we knew they would have.

Roman laughed: Don't get too happy about that cause he's still gonna be your shadow too.

The sisters and their boyfriends pulled up and got out heading over to Paco.

Delores: Good morning, dear son. How are you?

Rylee babbled excitedly.

Kyla held onto Yazmine: Listen to them.

Kandice: Awwwe, he really is good with kids.

Amell chuckled: Cause he a kid too.

Haleigh thumped Harmony's thigh then moved away quickly next to Melody: Lil Nico sing from the bottom of his heart like his daddy
