HYTE is renowned for its festivals and events in every corner of the globe, though this year it has deepened its ties with its hometown of Berlin in particular, and its upcoming 24-hour NYE event at the iconic Funkhaus is destined to deliver its most powerful installment to date.

HYTE returns to the stunning industrial grounds of Shedhalle at Funkhaus on 31st December, and to ensure that party goers enter 2020 with a bang it has assembled what is arguably the biggest lineup of elite musical talent ever hosted at a HYTE event, a roster channeled from its uncompromising commitment to the underground and the finest headlining artists it has to offer.

The HYTE trademark is seasoned techno icons playing alongside ascending underground talent. Maceo Plex and Loco Dice perform alongside William Djoko, while Yaya is locked to support Ricardo Villalobos. However, this only scratches the surface of the monumental lineup that is locked to perform at Shedhalle over an epic 24-hour marathon stretch this NYE.

Notably, HYTE is excited to announce that Marco Carola makes his debut appearance for the Berlin-based festival brand on new years eve. Richie Hawtin is set for a welcome return after proving a highlight at last year’s event, while a HYTE Berlin throw down wouldn’t be complete without an appearance from Pan-Pot. Meanwhile, none other than Ricardo Villalobos is helping curate the second room alongside a carefully handpicked cast for an exploration of sounds on a deeper tip.

Also joining this incredible cast are techno and house heavyweights Maceo Plex, Helena Hauff, Loco Dice, ANNA and Joseph Capriati. Meanwhile, wAFF and Solardo help round out the evening’s lineup in consummate HYTE style.

However, it’s all the different elements drawing together in perfect harmony that creates the definitive event experience that is HYTE NYE Berlin. Alongside the world-class lineup of talent, equally, it’s the trademark HYTE commitment to lighting, sound, and production that allows its DJs to truly shine. HYTE just announced techno legend Chris Liebing as the latest addition to the line up of HYTE NYE Berlin 2018, which will take place on Monday, December 31st at Funkhaus Berlin. The techno grandmaster and Mute Records artist completes the line up around previously announced headliners Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Pan-Pot, Amelie Lens and Stephan Bodzin. 

Chris Liebing, the German stalwart, who has been a firm fixture in the global techno scene for the better part of 25 years, will return to the famous Berlin HYTE event for the fifth year running. The techno mainstay just released his new LP “Burn Slow.” Chris has once again shown fans his multifaceted talent. The 10-track album, released via Mute in early September, sees the Frankfurt-based artist explore more experimental pursuits.

HYTE NYE Berlin 2018 will be held at Berlin’s legendary Funkhaus venue. Built in 1951, the colossal East German complex used to host the biggest radio broadcasting site in the world. Today serving as a playground of the city’s vibrant underground scene, the building is a beautifully preserved piece of Berlin’s past, mixing Bauhaus architecture with Soviet aesthetics and industrial vibes. The event will take place at the so-called Shedhalle, a one of a kind warehouse with very rough but beautiful aesthetics, which is part of the Funkhaus complex.

Staying true to their extended party roots, HYTE will once again put clubbers’ stamina to the test, offering them a 24-hour marathon on NYE and NYE to remember. To ring in the New Year in style, HYTE will kick off as early as 18:00 on Monday, December, 31st and won’t pull the plug until 18:00, Tuesday, January, 1st 2019.

It became already a loved tradition: Each year ends with HYTE NYE Berlin. Started in 2014, the annual festival event became a fixed date in the calendars of electronic music lovers from all over the world, well-known for cutting-edge benchmark-setting production, imposing sound and light installations, astonishing venues and line-ups consisting of globe-traveling high-profile talents, acknowledged heroes of the underground scene and the hottest up-and-coming names. And that is the case again for HYTE NYE Berlin 2018: Providing the soundtrack will be techno and house’s finest international DJs and live acts, including Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Anthea, Archie Hamilton, Butch, Caleb Calloway, Djebali, Fabio Florido, Federico Gardenghi, Ferro, Gregor Tresher, Guti, Mahony, Pan–Pot, Richie Hawtin, Soulphiction, Stephan Bodzin, wAFF, Woody and Yaya, and a special guest, which is a close member of the HYTE family and will be announced in the coming weeks.

The venue for HYTE’s 24-hour New Year’s Eve special is once again Funkhaus in Berlin. It is a colossal and iconic East German complex of buildings, located next to river Spree, dating back to 1951 that used to be the largest radio-broadcasting site in the world. Today it is a treasure trove for Berlin’s music culture. It mixes modernist, clear Bauhaus design with monumental architecture and cavernous industrial halls. Both rooms of HYTE NYE Berlin are based in the gigantic Shedhalle, a part of Funkhaus Berlin, a vast warehouse space, with arched ceilings, steel girders, and proper industrial aesthetics, overlooked by a huge gallery. A fantastic space with a raw stripped back feel that will become a perfect adult playground for one night and day. It will be converted with immersive lights and a powerful sound system that will deliver every beat-and hi-hat with HD quality to every part of both rooms.

In the last year, HYTE brought events to New York, London, Miami, Vietnam, Amsterdam, Eindhoven and the MDRNTY cruise on the Mediterranean Sea. Alongside Charlotte De Witte, the phase-two announce also features Philadelphia veteran Josh Wink, stalwart of the Ukranian scene Nastia, as well as Villalobos offsider Sonja Moonear. If I’ve come to learn one thing about HYTE it’s to expect the unexpected. Ahead of the HYTE NYE 2019 marathon, we’re buckling up for another unforgettable weekend in Berlin!

Adam Beyer and Pan-Pot return to their stomping grounds of the Funkhaus this August for the launch of a new warehouse series. HYTE is excited to present a heavyweight showcase featuring none other than the Drumcode and Second State label bosses themselves, performing alongside a curated cast of label favourites that includes Boxia and Michael Klein.

HYTE has assembled a formidable cast for the launch of its new Berlin-based series that promises to rank among the organizer’s finest yet on its home turf of Berlin, set in Room Two of the tremendous Shedhallespace within the grounds of the famous Funkhaus complex.

Shedhalle is the same celebrated venue that hosts its annual HYTE NYE marathon, and equally, the debut of the new HYTE warehouse series is poised to deliver the same calibre of powerful event experiences that has established its annual NYE marathon as a festival essential.

Swedish veteran Adam Beyer has enjoyed a formidable career amongst the techno-elite, standing tall with his revered Drumcode imprint as one of the scene’s most enduring figureheads for more than 20 years. Further still, he’s currently enjoying an unprecedented level of success with audiences around the world that even eclipses anything we’ve seen to date in an illustrious history stretching back to the genesis of techno in the early ‘90s.

This month’s DJ Mag cover story dives deep into the Adam Beyer legacy, who is described as “techno’s uncompromising kingpin.” It explores how this same uncompromising attitude helped launch Drumcode, and its artists, onto some of the world’s biggest stages. Meanwhile, Drumcode itself has developed into one of the world’s most widely recognized techno imprints, renowned worldwide for its trademark sound: “big, booming basslines, slow and funk-driven techno rhythms and dramatic melodies and breakdowns.”

Expect similar big-league support in the form of local techno icons Pan-Pot, with the powerhouse duo poised to offer that distinct Berlin flavour to the event. A fixture in their hometown scene since the turn of the millennium, they’re responsible for their own fabled  Second State imprint that this year hosted their ‘Radio Berlin’ EP plus releases from the likes of Amelie Lens. Representing HYTE in every corner of the world, Pan-Pot will ensure the requisite Berlin muscle is present for the launch of this new warehouse series.

Joining the lineup will be a curated selectionof favourites from each imprint that begins with Boxia, a UK artist who’s just released his debut album A Night In The Life Of on the label. More heat comes from talented Second State favourite Michael Klein. Expect dark and groovy basslines alongside hypnotizing blends from this Frankfurt-based Second State staple.

This 2019 edition of HYTE NYE represents its sixth NYE gathering in Berlin where the underground festival brand will utilize the world-famous Funkhaus once again. The venue became the signature home of the Berlin-based, but worldwide touring festival series, it’s a venue that is steeped in the city’s proud tradition of re-appropriating old spaces and transforming them into hubs of music and culture. A former GDR complex, characterized by monumentality and the typically austere grandeur of Soviet architecture, situated right on the River Spree, which once housed the radio and TV headquarters of communist East Germany.
