emily groaned into the air of her empty office as yet another email rolled across her screen from hr. in theory, the new self-care initiative was definitely a good idea, but she knew her team. and she knew herself. with all the sicarios serial killers still lingering in their minds— a mindful monday break was not priority. they’d skirted around all the previous mandated attempts to unwind due to cases popping up and splitting the team up, but she knew they could only keep that up for so long.
she clicked into the email, the URGENT subject line keeping her from ignoring it. she skimmed the greeting and first paragraph of reprimands for the lack of participation. she got to the next paragraph and instantly paused in dread.
“starting monday morning, the behavioral analysis unit will be assigned a health and wellness agent who will join your team in the field to ensure that you and your team are balancing your work and health appropriately.”
a glorified babysitter? oh the team was going to hate this. it took a certain type of person to weather the storms they did and those types of people did not have healthy coping mechanisms. emily rolled her desk chair back enough to pull out the bottle of wine she hid in a drawer and the glass that accompanied it. if the fun police was coming to town she might as well enjoy this luxury before they arrived.
emily was the first in as always. all that first to arrive, last to leave stuff. but as she walked up the few stairs to her office, she quickly realized she may not have been first after all.
“uh hi? can i help you?” she asked as she stood in the doorway of her office. the woman sat across from her desk turned to look over her shoulder and smiled cheerily. far too cheery for the time of day.
“section chief prentiss, good morning! just the woman i’m here for.” the mystery woman smiled and moved over to extend her hand toward emily. “y/n y/ln, wellness consultant. i believe someone emailed you about my arrival?”
emily’s eyes traveled up the woman’s frame curiously. she was dressed smartly, on the business side of business casual and she looked far too young to be doing the work she was doing. remembering the welcoming part of the email she’d read last week, she plastered on her most practiced diplomatic smile and shook her hand. “nice to meet you miss y/ln. i wasn’t expecting you until this afternoon. please have a seat.”
emily rounded her desk and slid into her desk chair. she watched y/n do the same and subconsciously wondered how someone could look that good this early in the morning. she’d barely had her first cup of coffee and she felt like she was barely functioning. but here this wellness expert was, dressed to the nines and in the office before her.
y/n cleared her throat and slid a folder over to emily with a sheepish smile. “i figured we could touch base a bit on the team and my plans for the time being. and i thought that’d be easier with goals and objectives breakdown.”
goals and objectives breakdown? emily looked from the folder to the y/n and back in a bit of shock. she hadn’t exactly expected there to be folders of information or goals and objectives. she thought they do some meditation and call it a day… but as she opened the folder and saw the detailed breakdowns and plans she realized she was sorely mistaken.
“oh wow, forgive me for my ignorance. but i assumed this would be a sort of once a month morale boosting bonding sort of thing and you’d just sign off on whatever we decide to do.”
y/n didn’t even flinch at emily’s words, only smiled with a chuckle. “well that would’ve been the case a few months ago but based on your teams workload and concerns from outside of this office— the director is looking for something a bit more direct and focused.”
“direct and focused?” emily repeated.
“mmhm, you can see it all outlined there but simply put im here to help every member of your team identify healthy coping mechanisms to combat the work you’re doing. that’ll look different for every member but it’ll be personal. some teams have preferred check in meetings and others like to keep journals. each member can choose how they’d like to work with me.”
emily sighed as she read through the folder and listened to y/n, it was all sounding unnecessary at she was already trying to think of a way to get the team on board. getting rossi to participate was going to kill her. “as you can imagine, i’m not sure how receptive the team will be to these forced wellness sessions…”
“i anticipated that. and i’ve found most teams are far more receptive when their fearless leader is a willing participant. you know leading by example.” y/n spoke suggestively lifting her eyebrow in challenge.
“oh you mean me? you want me to participate in your little exercises so the others will be more willing?” emily asked in disbelief.
“well yes, as much as i believe that you’ve got your own mental health exercises in place— you could humor me with a few sessions.” y/n grinned.
emily eyed her suspiciously, “and if we refuse?”
“well i hope it doesn’t come to that, but after i’ve made my base analysis of the team i’ll have the digression to determine who is and is not fit for field work. and i have a feeling that wouldn’t go over to well.”
“yeah that’s a sure fire way to make some enemies around here.” emily grimaced with a huff.
“thought so.” y/n shrugged but pulled out a black planner and pen and looked at emily expectantly. “so chief, when do you wanna start? promise i’ll make it worth your while.”

Another Post that you needed to get Special permission by Lois Lane who was the "Superman expert" to post.. which was just Superman was caught helping a kid get it's ball back when the kid kicked it up in a tree. and then how the Kid and Superman did a foot race to see who was faster. and Little Thomas Hilga was the fastes boy alive.
Lois has always been so Protective over whatever was said about Superman. in the beginning you didn't understand her need to protect the man of steel. But after discovering the truth of Who was Superman. it was clear why!
you use to babysit the twins when they lived in the city. and they went out for date night. Or they went on mini trips. So when they asked you come over to their farm for a week to watch the boys. since Jonathan was in trouble and they didn't feel comfortable to leave him alone. you happily agreed. and well- Clark flew back home to scream at Jordan for something he did. and you saw Clark.. Clark didn't even have a good excuse to why he was Flying.. But after sitting you down explaining who he was. the Only thing you could come up with was that you couldn't understand why he bothers with he's truck. he could just simply Fly everywhere.
that was months ago. and Now today, you messaged Clark asking for permission and he's Now ex Wife Lois. the week getaway was apparently their "fix your marriage "holiday which ended with Lois confessing she's hating Smallville, and she wanted to go back doing dangerous assignments.. and She has been doing more dangerous assignments, but she still was still incharge of Superman. Mainly for another year before she will decline writing for him. they didn't want to break it off. with superman and Lois right after the divioice so people didn't notice.
But Since work was doen for the day, or well you could probably search for more positivity posts to post other today or tomorrow but why overwork yourself? it was a Hot Friday afternoon, an Hour before you could leave. and it was so boring and quiet in the work room that no one was really working.
"My God looks at that ass!" you turned seeing your deskmate who worked beside you on her desk. was staring at a close up photo of Superman's Ass. on her screen. you laughed softly, "Why you looking at his ass?"
Cassandra didn't turn her face from the screen as she spoke, "I just want to bite it.. Lois is so lucky to have his rumpus ass to herself. Im sure he's happy that her and Clark broke up- if they ever stopped their. fun.. that is."
Rolling your e/c, you felt like they almost rolled out of your eyes socket with how badly you rolled them. ''Oh Please! "you know-.. Im not in the mood for another sexual harassment meeting.. " you shifted away trying to retreat back to your computer. but Cassandra spoke, "God could you imagine oif he was Seflish and lazy in the sack? how disappointing.. probably does the Leo DiCaprio thing and just lays there."
"No way, I've seen walking a old lady across the street.. Superman is probably the sort who makes sure he's partner si completely satisficed before worrying about his own needs." you didn't mean to comment you Should of just nodded in agreement with Cassandra and changed the conversation to a dog you were going to post tomorrow. but you didn't think- it just came out. and Just as Clark walked in completely Stunned at your statement as you truned to Cassandra as you spoke, "So Im posting a dog video tomorrow. of a saint gently pulling his owner off the sofa and stealing the sofa for himself.. you want to see the video?"
"Nah- i hate your fluff pieces.. Hey.. after work- lets go othat new bar. and find you someone to completely satisfice you eever need." Cassandra was married, She doesn't touch but she does Love getting some guy to get her free drinks and trying to set you up. with some random guy for the night.
"as fun as a random hook up is- Call me old fashion but I rather sleep with someone i have a emotional attachment with."
Cassandra looked around the room seeing Clark was back at his desk as She spoke, 'well- Clark is free.. or Tony but trust me.. ive rode that horse before.. Not much to write about.."

"the advantage of sleepign with HR. . he knows if he gets me in troulbe at work. he gets None at home." you shook your head chuckling, "your horrible." she chuckled as she spoke, 'and yet I didn't hear you deny Clark."
you looked up at her as you spoke, 'he's my friend. I babysit his kids!!"
"you could make him a third.." you gasped saying whay as she laughed patting your back, "God your so easy!"
she let the conversation die after that. switcing to look at a photo of the new deputy mayor who was attractive. as you spent the next hour. Hoping Clark was too busy to listen into the conversation.. that he probably heard his name. and heard you both talking about him..
After work you packed to leave seeing Clkar was taking his time he rarely comes into the office. he picked up freelance gigs onc eLois left to help pay for the farm. you got up heading to the elevator saying Night to Clark as he walked over following you to the elevator "hey."
"hey" you said uneasy.. as he spoke, "why were you and Cassandra talking about superman sexual abilities?" your cheeks burned a deep red as Clark chuckled as you explaiend how it all happened as he spoke, "Super tongue isn't a real thing." you laughed saying thats what you said. as Clark leaned lower as he spoke, "those Lois did make comments that she thought it was.." your cheeks couldn't go any redder as Clark smiled seeing you.
he couldn't deny that since he broke up with Lois the Only women who caugh his attention was you. but he always figured you were off limits since you were you.. but listening to you and Cassandra chatting about Superman sexual abilities he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like with you. Clark has only ever been with Lois you snapped Clark out of his day dream of you and him as you spoke, 'can I still come over? or did that conversation completely gross you out?"
Clark smiled weakly, "No of course not, those surprised to hear you talking like that at work." you laughed covering your mouth, "Cassandra started it! I tried to shut it down!" you both lauhged as you spoke, "you mad at me for that?"
he shook his head, 'nah, it's okay honestly those. the boys will be out. you okay with just us?"
"yea of course.. I'll bring the beer?" Clark smile dsaying okay as the elevator door opened as you walked out. Clark realized at that moment that he needed you.. and he was falling for you. he's best friend.

Years of practice made Edge an expert at opening his office door while balancing his laptop bag and travel mug. Janice was already at her desk, typing furiously, a half-empty coffee cup at her elbow. It was to be expected; today was Asgore’s quarterly State of the Embassy meeting and they would all be expected to attend for what was sure to be several hours of a boomingly enthusiastic and uncomfortably familial glut of information that could have been easily sent in an email.
Edge was already prepared with a double espresso added to his daily coffee order. It was one of the few times in his life that he regretted that his biological functions did not include trips to the restroom, and he allowed himself a touch of resentment towards Janice on that account, already knowing she would shamelessly take advantage of her own coffee consumption.
She was already draining her current cup, calling out to him as he walked by, “There’s a package on your desk, it’s already been cleared by security.”
“Thank you,” Edge said and managed not to glare as she poured herself another cup.
As stated, the package was sitting primly on his desk, a small box neatly wrapped in brown paper. The return address was not familiar and despite it being cleared by security, he opened it cautiously. Nestled in a thick layer of bubble wrap was a colorful metal canister and a thick envelope. He opened the envelope first; inside was a lovely handmade card thanking him for helping arrange a recent outing involving the children of New New Home. The assembly at the Ebott Elementary school with a carefully chosen group of Human children had been wildly successful and already the Embassy team handling the assignment was working on another. It was a delicate balancing act between the safety of all the children involved, Monster and Human alike, and the various articles released to the media were almost universally positive.
The gift was unexpected and rather touching, and Edge made a mental note to have Janice send something to the schools from the Embassy. Particularly when he inspected the cannister, whose label declared it to be a gourmet selection of caffeinated salted licorice. Any other candy would likely end up gifted to Janice, but salted licorice was a small weakness of his. The addition of caffeine was nearly scandalous, an indecent temptation, enough that he was more than willing to forgive whoever revealed his secret interests to the giver.
For the moment, he set it aside. Per their agreement with the Human government, all gifts, no matter how small, needed to be declared to prevent any accusations of bribery. Normally he would simply send an email to the HR department, but the meeting was very soon. He'd simply bring it along and show them, and if he took advantage of the extra caffeination, that would be his reward for staying awake as Asgore droned on about the agenda to further the growing bond with their Human neighbors.
It was likely to be his only reward, so he may as well enjoy it.
To his surprise, there was already someone in the meeting room when Edge arrived. Normally, he was the first there, partly to ensure his seat was the best possible, meaning it was near an outlet for his laptop adaptor and partly because the very idea of being late was anathema to him. It wasn’t as if people weren’t perfectly aware of the time the meeting began and had several forms of technology available to remind them. Latecomers were always treated to a hard look and suffered their due punishment of being left with the bran muffins. Early comers get the tastiest treats.
This time, Undyne was already in the seat Edge normally took, her boots propped up on the table as she slouched back in her chair.
“Hey, tough nerd,” she said cheerily.
"Why are you here?" Edge asked her bluntly. He set his laptop at the second-best location next to her, hipchecking her boots to the floor as he went to lay out a selection of pastries for the incoming participants. He did collect a cranberry orange scone for Undyne; as the first to the meeting, she deserved top choice.
She shrugged, accepting the scone reward eagerly and taking a large bite. Around her mouthful she said in a small burst of crumbs. “Meeting, same as you."
"Indeed?” Edge used a napkin to push her crumbs back into her allotted table space. “I ask because I am well familiar with our parental leave policy, as I was the one who approved it. And yet here you are, exactly where you are not supposed to be."
She was laughing before he even finished. “C’mon, a couple hours here and there ain't gonna hurt. You can’t be the only workaholic. Besides, this’ll probably be the best sleep I’ve had in three weeks.”
He had to admit she had a point.
She finished the scone in two more messy bites before pointedly wiping the crumbs into her napkin, then nudged him roughly in the ribs with an elbow. “Wanna see some pics of the little guppy?"
"Of course I do." He accepted her phone, swiping through several photos of a small baby sleeping in a variety of locations; in a crib, in Alphys’s arms, snuggled between them on a sofa. Barely past newborn, he suspected the child’s activity level was somewhere just above that of a sack of flour. He did not ask about the picture of baby nestled into what looked like a roasting pan, that was obviously some parental humor meant for the likes of Sans and Stretch. Pictures duly examined, he handed her phone back, "When is their naming ceremony?"
"Thinking the end of the month.” Undyne flicked through the pictures herself, pausing to chuckle at the roasting pan one and confirming her sense of humor was entirely too similar to those with lower class tastes. “Paps wants to help plan it."
Other people were shuffling in, laptops and large quantities of coffee in hand as they paused to survey the selection of baked goods before taking their seats. Edge watched their choices, noting the popularity of each item. Someday he was going to teach these people an appreciation for bran, but it didn’t seem as if this meeting was going to be his moment. He glanced at Undyne and said with a perfectly straight face, “I’m sure it will be very interesting with Papyrus’s help.”
Undyne snorted laughter. “Yeah, Al already vetoed any balloon sculptures this time.”
Likely wise, considering the monstrous centerpiece at the baby shower. Any further comment was stifled by Asgore entering the room, his bulk filling the doorway as he ducked inside, colorful flyers with the meeting agenda in his hands.
It was only years of practice that allowed Edge to stifle his groan when he saw it. This was going to be a very long day.
It was halfway through the roundtable discussion of whether the Public Relations department’s new quarterly goals met the parameters for the SMART acronym (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound). Janice’s chin was slowly losing its battle against gravity as she jerked upright for a third time and Edge was idly reflecting that making the windows both unbreakable and unopenable on the higher floors was a cruelty disguised as a safety feature. Honestly, it spoke to the unfairness of the universe that teleportation was reserved for the skeletons who least appreciated its usefulness. That was when he remembered the cannister.
Caffeinated. Yes. That would be a gift that far outweighed any he’d given the school. As quietly as possible, he retrieved it from his bag. Undyne was still surprisingly awake, although perhaps that was her becoming accustomed to sleep deprivation, and she noticed the cannister in his hands.
"What is that?" she whispered, below the sonorous drone of Reginald as he went through the list of upcoming press releases.
"A gift." He turned the cannister to show her the label and her face lit up.
"Caffeinated salted licorice?” she hissed, “Hell, yeah, that's singing my song, crack that open, maybe we'll actually be able to stay awake and listen to this bullsh…very informative discussion."
“Good recovery,” Edge murmured and he opened the cannister.
If he’d had even the slightest inkling of what the can actually held, he might have recognized the sound from the beginning. The comical 'sproing' noise could have been pulled directly from one of the cartoons Stretch watched, immediately followed by the propulsion of some form of creature from within the can.
Instinct took over through shock as his state of being went from ‘excruciatingly boring meeting agenda’ to 'fight for your life or die'.
It took less than a split second for him to follow through with the battle protocols his brother had drilled into him since childhood; identify the menacing intruders, isolate them, and deal with them, with extreme prejudice. In quick succession all three were pinned to the wall, a jagged bone construct protruding from each, thrust deep within their fabric and spring innards.
His soul burned hotly in his chest as he panted, dropping to a crouch as he braced for a further assault. All too quickly his vision cleared enough for him to take in his attackers.
…oh.
Hanging limply from the wall was a handful of mangled toy snakes, all of them a cheerful, telling orange felt. Or were, before they’d been mostly shredded by his attack.
Sweat was stinging in his eye sockets as he slowly stood. The fierce pulse of his soul slowed, cooling to the numbness of ice as he turned to look at the table and the people sitting at it, all of whom were watching him silently, their eyes enormous. For the first time in his memory, Edge couldn't think of a single thing to say at a meeting.
It was Asgore who moved first, not to speak but to hesitantly clap, then with more enthusiasm as he called, "Excellent aim!"
The rest of the table slowly joined into somewhat dumbstruck applause, Undyne at his side hooting her approval, and Edge closed his eyes and took a slow, deep breath as he forcibly tamped down the urge to murder his husband.
No, there would be no homicide today. Guilt was a far more effective punishment.

Star Trek AU. Trevor is part human and part alien, a kind of alien who can form mental bonds with partners. Jamie is a regular ole human.
The realization hits Trevor in the middle of a surgery. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say, Trevor’s idiocy slam-fucking-dunks him at the worst possible time, with Jamie’s chest slashed open in front of him on the operating table.
Trevor’s helping Doctor Kariya mend some of Jamie’s ribs from where he got injured by charging alien wildlife. Trevor didn’t witness the accident, only got the teary-eyed report from this pipsqueak of an ensign with a massive crush on Jamie. One of Jamie’s lungs got punctured in the attack. The animal’s array of horns ensured Jamie was bleeding in key areas too.
The worst part is that this wasn’t a dangerous mission. Jamie was only on-planet to gather some samples of local flora. He was particularly excited about a flowering moss that had the potential to…do something botanists found very exciting. Trevor wasn’t an expert. He was only an expert in the tiny little smile Jamie liked to do when something sciency was happening.

Trevor nods. He can’t wipe off his tears until he’s out of the room and de-gloved.
“You guys should report this to HR,” Kariya says gently.”
There’s nothing to report, Trevor thinks, but that’s not quite right.
Trevor doesn’t cry during surgeries. Not for any reason. And when he takes a second to look inward, he realizes the front of his torso, where Jamie took all the damage, is on fire.
Trevor doesn’t have any wounds there, though. Which means what he’s feeling is—

Kariya comes to find him after the surgery. “No complications. His ribs are back to normal. He’ll need PT to build his core muscles back up, and no intense physical activity for a week.”
Trevor finds Jamie in the medbay.

If Trevor hadn’t foregone all his meditation sessions in favor of hanging over Jamie, maybe he’d have noticed. Maybe he’d have realized what a massive breach of privacy he was committing.
