project sekai swearing tier list
Tumblr media
I think the Shinonomes swear a lot, especially at each other (because that's how siblings work) but Akito doesn't do it in customer service mode.
N25 Rin is based on Ena so that explains itself. N25 Kaito is Mafuyu's inner rage and I'll get to Mafuyu in a minute
Nene is a gamer. She swears a lot. Not really during rehearsal but definitely at home and when she's ranting to Rui about anything
Idk man I just think the Rin's would swear. Not over the top like N25 Rin but a decent amount.
Ok so I have this headcanon Mafuyu picks up swearing from Ena and Mizuki and just starts doing it when she's with them or by herself. After the events of her fourth focus she does it more but not too much/without reason. This is why I think most of the empty sekai vocaloids swear. Because the N25 members their based off do it to
If something is going really bad I think Haruka would probably let out a well timed "shit" or smth like that
Airi sweared more in middle school (thanks Ena) but has started toning it down finding it not very "idol like" but she has let swear words slip a few times on stream.
I think Toya (and by extension Kohane and the street sekai vocaloids) picked it up from Akito and An. Len picked it up from Rin
Rui and Emu have nothing against swearing I just don't see them doing it a lot. Like they will, Rui more than Emu, but yeah. Emu finds swearing kind of funny though
Saki also thinks it's funny and picked it up from Shiho
N25 Miku would on some occasions (one time Mizuki asked if Miku could swear and Miku proceed to drop the f bomb)
Ichika doesn't really swear but I could definitely see her saying "damn it" not specifically because of Shiho but she definitely picked it up in middle school and feels bad about say worse. Has said worse on rare occasions though
Tsukasa is against swearing but he's canonically said damn and it's not really that bad so
I think wxs Miku just finds it funny (Kaito disciplined her after but every once in a while she can swear)
I just think Meiko would

in commemoration of curtain call coming to global soon (my tiering hell begins in roughly 2 weeks), can we take a moment to think about the flower imagery in this event + miscellaneous info about rui that relates to this flower imagery. i may be reaching. Keep That In Mind. these are all just my personal interpretations :D also im not very articulate!!!!! and a good chunk of this is rambling!!!!! Thank You For Your Patience.
we all know that rui is on the greening committee! he absolutely adores nature, every single leaf that sprouts from whatever he plants and nurtures. he has read and literally memorized encyclopedias about poisonous plants as a kid and can now classify them at one glance.
additionally. do we also remember in his initial 1* card story where rui throws a caterpillar at tsukasa because he was about to step on one of the flowers (ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED, I TELL YOU. BUT ODDLY HEARTWARMING).
and then he just:
Tumblr media
okay, jay. well, that has nothing to do with wxs and how much they mean to this loser.
what if i reminded you about the. The wxs coloured flowers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
andddd oh oh oh the actual lyrics to donketsu aka the song that changed my fucking life
Don't let the petals wither or let them fall
The flowers of the bouquet I held close to my heart
flowers in this case refer to the fruit that has sprouted for rui from having met wxs: being able to slowly open up to others (a whole other aspect of his character that requires an entire essay atp), bringing the shows he thought he would never be able to perform with others to life, and overall just. everything that he's been able to accomplish because he met wxs and has them supporting him by his side.
during curtain call, he was conflicted between two choices: rejecting an offer from one of the most famous theatre troupes in the country to continue performing with wxs, or leaving wxs and abandoning his position as their director in order to chase new heights and achieve his goal. his goal being to create shows that touch and connect people no matter who they are and where they're from. which will be made possible by joining the network of connections and unthinkable amount of budget and materials arkland has.
rui knew that the rational choice was joining arkland. but a part of him, buried deep inside his heart, still wants to perform with wxs. they have brought so much meaning into his life. he would do anything to keep a smile on their faces and goes to unimaginable lengths to protect them. without a director, wxs would fall apart. it's something that has been repeated ever since their main story: wxs is possible because the 4 of them are there together.
so if you look at it that way, the flowers in the bouquet can also be the members of wxs, too. if rui left, everything that they have achieved together "would be reduced to rubble." they would not be the same. and that goes for if tsukasa left, if emu left, if nene left.
to sum it up: not only does rui think of wxs as precious treasures that never stop shining, but also as beautiful flowers with the ability to make him smile by simply existing. they mean that much to him.
sedate me now

i wanted to say that it's gonna be 2025 and ensekai so maybe proseka will be less hyped and less people will play but then i remembered the movie is coming out oh well!! i don't think so.
BUT I'LL BE ABLE TO DO IT TRUST!! i kept on saying that i somehow managed to have almost t500 on curtain call solo without any coop so i can do everything when it comes to wonderlands x showtime so i believe in myself (I DON'T). my first aim was tsukasa t500 the rest t1000 (maybe nene t500 too) buuuut since i did so well on ohe i think i might . aim a bit higher right .
I STILL WANT TO T100 THE WHOLE WL THOUGH so maybe i'll just focus on emu and nene more since they'll be less tiered? i don't knowww they deserve this t100 too but tsukasakun): we'll see though. i don't plan on seriously tiering any event before wl so i should have much more resources than i managed to gather from between the canary -> ohe gap anyways
I was joking I BELIEVE IN YOU!!! GO GO GO!!! Good luck!!! YOur tiering skills are insane actually i respect 🫡🫡🫡
We should try tiering wl together!! I rly want to tier at least nene for like 1k AT LEAST but hoprfully higher, bc she means a lot to me and ill see how others go! I want them high too 🙏 may the pulls be kind to me too since I want them...

Without having played the game and basing this purely on aesthetics and the last post’s quick rundown, thoughts on the new Touhou bosses:
Misumaru is cute as hell, and I saw an in-game image of her smug pose and goddamn do I like her.  Having seen the quick summary of her character, I’m glad she seems like a genuinely well-meaning person, definitely a favorite for this batch.
Iizunamaru is pretty cute.  People keep calling her Blue Aya, which...isn’t entirely unfair, but truthfully I find this an upgrade.  Not to say I dislike Aya’s design, but I just really like the one.  I have a thing for the dark blues and purples, so the color scheme speaks to me.
MOTHERFUCKING TSUKASA KUDAMAKI!  I’m so hyped about another fox you guys, I love her.  And apparently she’s an absolute shitheel, who put all of this info motion to fuck with people.  God bless you tine chaotic fox lady.  Favorite of the batch bar none, 10/10.
Chimata Tenkyu.  Her appearance is ostentatious as fuck and I kinda love it.  I also really like her concept.  Even if something’s throw away it’s still in some sense in the original holder’s technical possession.  It’s an interesting idea, and maybe this is stupid, but I wonder how much of that ties into the ssame idea as like...Kogasa, where an abandoned item can gain sentience and want to see out its owner.
Momoyo!  Look there had to be one I didn’t like as much.  I don’t care much for her look, nor her concept.  She seems to just exist, and is only involved in this to eat the dragon gems.  Also she knows Iizunamaru.  She doesn’t seem to have much going for her.  I will give props for having a level of being above dragons though.  I don’t dislike dragons, but I do get tired of them being top of the food chain all the time.  Centipedes being higher tier is a cool idea.
So, combining with the first three we got, I’d say my personal ranking of them is:
Tsukasa Kudamaki - shithead fox girl, 10/10
Misumaaru Tamatsukuri - really like her design, and I like the sweeties
Sannyo Komakusa - listen, everyone likes Sannyo, she’s cool
Megumu Iizunamaru - really love the color scheme, like the tengu conceptually
Chimata Tenkyu - honestly I just think she’s interesting, I have nothing else to this.
Takane Yamashiro - I don’t know much about her, but I like her aesthetic.
Mike Goutokuji - Just not as big a fan of the design.  I do remember reading some of her story and thinking that was okay, though.
Momoyo Himemushi - Just really not feelling her on almost any level.
When the game is translated we’ll see how this holds up.

1/4 Do you think Aldairo will explore morre about supernaturals and exorcists, other than the Mysteries and the Minamoto Clan? I get it that since it's a monthly manga and the main character is stuck in the school there is far less space for Aldairo to explore supernaturals, cursed items and exorcists other than the main plot but still. Something that also tickles me off is that the Mysteries are very powerful but not really?
2/4 The Mysteries are far morre powerful than your average supernatural (A Sealed Cape-less Hanako one-shoted The Mermaid, a 'powerful' apparition. A Mystery in they boundary is too powerful for Cape-less Hanako), yet Teru thought a rookie exorcist (Kou) would be enough to take care of them, Kou was even shown knocking out Hanako before he got serious.
3/4 Still Kou was made a joke by Cape Hanako, and when he got Raitejou sealed he was constantly shown being overpowered by the Mysteries (Yako, Tsuchigomori, Mitsuba and Shijima). Teru a top tier exorcist can scare off the Mysteries and easily defeated an off-guard Hanako, throught if Hanako was not caught off-guard and had his cape we don't know who might have won.
4/4 Tsukasa was shown being far stronger than a Mystery in they boundary, Hanako without his seal is likely too since he was dangerous enough to force Grandma Minamoto to use all her strengh and seal him. They both are the only ones so far that would likely defeat Teru, but we still don't know how they compare to Top Tier Adult exorcists or Supernaturals on their level.
Hi anon-san! I'm so, so sorry for answering this late! I kinda get overwhelmed with long asks.. (╥_╥) I just blank out and can't think of anything to answer! But don't worry! What you sent me is actually interesting and I'm ready to share my thoughts about these!
I think AidaIro would still explore more about supernaturals! Like what they are doing now, they're slowly introducing new characters like Sumire and and her past with No. 6. We also learned something new about the Akane family! Though there are only 7 School Mysteries in the school and we're already on the 6th. I think I get what you meant by "the main character is stuck in the school." Since it's in the main plot, they're only limited to the school. But what's cool is there are boundaries in the school. They lead to many different settings, beautiful sceneries too!! So it doesn't really feel that the characters are only in limited spaces ^^
Tumblr media
We still have this from the very first chapter! I wonder what that "something" is? 🧐
And yeah! Each Mystery does have their own strengths and weaknesses.
Tumblr media
Hanako defeated the Mermaid with only one shot with his knife. We could already see how powerful he is.
Tumblr media
So the Mysteries in their own domains are unbeatable. Hmm, I could only think of one thing. Maybe this only applies with the Mysteries to each other? To avoid conflict and keep them balanced. Hanako can't use his Tsueshiro (Haku-joudai) without the permission of the Mystery guarding that boundary.
It's really interesting that Tsukasa somehow defeated No. 3 with his bare hands. Is he really that powerful? 🤔 Or maybe because these "rules" don't apply to him. He's creating chaos and he doesn't hold anything back, which could explain why he appears to overpower the Mysteries.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Seven Mysteries are given a duty to protect the school and maintain it's balance between the near shore and the far shore. This duty was given by the "God."
Tumblr media
But Tsukasa believes that humans and supernaturals should just be however they want. "If that's enough to break the world... then it's better off broken."
It's almost like he's describing the order of the school. Like even if there are leaders (the Mysteries), if the supernaturals and humans choose to be however they want, let's say they choose to oppose each other. And if that's enough to break order, then it's better off broken.
Now I want to share my thoughts about "Teru vs. the Yugi twins"
I feel like Tsukasa would defeat Teru like as I've said, he doesn't hold anything back. If he wants Teru dead then he'll do it.
For Hanako, of course we would hesitate. He was given a duty and he plans on fulfilling it. He wants to remove away his guiltーatone for his sins. If he doesn't fulfill it, then it would all be a waste, huh? Everything he has done in order to maintain balance would be a waste. His desire to atone for his sins would be a waste.
Though I can't really say, we don't really know much about Teru's spiritual power. He caught Hanako off guard in the Young Exorcist Arc, he didn't let him use Haku-joudai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He trapped him in a lightning cage that would affect him since he doesn't have his cloak on.
Also I've read some interesting theories regarding Grandma Minamoto and Hanako! Why did she seal him away instead of just exorcising him? Could it be that she *knows* him that she felt pity for him and gave him a chanceーsealing him away in the bathroom of the school. I think the men in the Minamoto clan are the ones who are usually trained in exorcising supernaturals, not sure about the women.. I hope we get to learn more about the Minamotos and the Akanes!
Oh, and I found something interesting about the artifacts Kou and Teru use.
Tumblr media
Kou's Raiteijou turns the user's spirit energy into demon-vanquishing lightning.
Tumblr media
Teru's spirit blade is mainly only for attack. Kou was surprised that he managed to control the lightning with it. This could mean Teru's spirit energy is quite powerful. So hmm.. 🤔
I'm so sorry that my thoughts are a mess and quite long ;; But thank you so much for sending the ask, anon-san! ^^

Hey I have a question sorry if its too much but for the pick your own 4 star ticket which girls would you recommend from each element (best water/earth/light/dark/fire girls.) You dont have to answer obviously but I was just wondering which ones are the best options in your opinion
9/3/21: THIS IS AN OLD POST. DO NOT TAKE THESE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CURRENT MAGIRECO PLS
Sure! These are my recommendations, so take them with a grain of salt– I wouldn’t call myself an expert here. Also, in my opinion the best character to get will always be your favorite one, and not necessarily the most optimal one.
Additionally, the most optimal choice might not be a new character, but a character you already have. More memoria slots are king in this game.
With all of this said, I’m going to say this: when considering PVE, the best two girls to get will be either Madoka Kaname or Mami Tomoe. Both of them are the best picks due to their cheese strategies, but even outside of that they can both carry you hard into content. I’d say that Madoka wins over Mami slightly due to her element and mp connect/magia, but they’re both excellent choices if you’re looking for a character to improve your game play. They will also always be good to list in your support because of said cheese strats. However, neither of them are a good choice for pvp.
Lastly, feel free to check out these following ranking guides:
Gamepress: PVP Mirrors 5-star Rankings
Gamepress: PVE 5-star Rankings
Fandom Wiki: PVP Magical Girl Tier List Note: will contain JP Spoilers
Tier lists can be sort of iffy, but I think they’re very valuable to pay attention to, even just to read their reasonings– this goes for mirrors stuff too. The Fandom Wiki rates Madoka very low, but its explanation also sheds light on how she can be good for PVE. So if you’re looking for more nuance, take some time and look through them.
ANYWAYS:
Light
Available Characters: Madoka Kaname, Kokoro Awane
For PVE, Madoka is much better than Kokoro. Using only two Madokas on a team is a cheese strat commonly called the Double Doka, and it’s amazing for chewing through hard challenge modes– essentially you connect to a Madoka on each turn so they’re always healing each other, gaining MP, and then later on, effectively using magias every turn.
Even outside of that, Madoka is a great unit in any magia-focused team, due to her aforementioned connect. Her magia/doppel doesn’t just give the team more MP, but it also provides defense, which can help against boss fights.
Kokoro is a tank, and fairly good, but in my opinion tanks need at the very least two slots to actually do their intended job (and also the two memoria). Compared to Madoka though, for pve Kokoro just isn’t as versatile or useful enough.
For PVP, Kokoro is better than Madoka, but this is mostly because Madoka is fucking terrible in PVP and you should never use her there.
Dark
Available Characters: Kirika Kure, Ren Isuzu, Tsukuyo Amane
Personally, for PVE I’d say that Ren is better than Kirika or Tsukuyo. However, this answer is a little more nuanced than the answer to the light question, and ultimately I’d split it between Ren and Kirika. Tsukuyo is basically a much worse version than Momoko.
Ren is a really great unit with a weird connect (and magia) that makes her have a myriad of uses and allows for a little more depth in gameplay. Her weaknesses include really low health and defense (although this is also a strength, see her magia) so you’ll need to protect her. However she has great attack stats and is a very solid choice for dark element damage. Her connect makes a puella combo sort of difficult, but it can help you ignore evades (very useful in mirrors) and also attack a boss up to five separate times while providing an evade itself. Her magia does more damage with the less health she has, which can be great for difficult bosses. All in all, she’s an excellent unit worth having and using that you’ll probably want to have eventually anyways.
So, Kirika. She’s the best tank in the game, period, but she’s also a tank. Unless you have multiple slots on her, you’re probably better off using someone else. Additionally, tanks aren’t always needed in PVE; they’re amazing in hard challenges but you can go by without them in more casual content, whereas a character like Ren (or even Tsukuyo) can be useful in almost every situation. For PVP she’s fucking amazing and can tank the hits and keep going while also providing blast discs.
And then… Tsukuyo. Tsukuyo is a charge gorilla, which is already not that great. She’s best used with her sister Tsukasa, but even then… eh. Yeah…
Water
Available Characters: Rena Minami, Konoha Shizumi, Sayaka Miki, Mayu Kozue
I answered this in an earlier ask, seen here. But TLDR: I think Konoha and Rena are your best options for PVE. Rena is more specialized and can help you with magia teams, and Konoha is more versatile and can fit in virtually any team.
Sayaka is a good tank, but she’s still a tank so she needs a few slots to be good. Mayu is sort of like Madoka but worse and also blue.
Forest
Available Characters: Mami Tomoe, Alina Gray, Mito Aino
Mami is, in my opinion, the best option of the three for PVE. However there is still nuance allowed for here. For PVP, I would recommend Alina, but Mito is also amazing if you can slot her a few times.
Mami has the benefit of double Mami cheese strats, where you use only two Mamis and trade off their connects off of every turn, layering the enemy with binds so they can’t ever attack you. This is really useful for challenge fights (unless the team has a resistance to bind…) and can help carry you. Even without that, her damage is amazing and her connect is still useful as fuck. She’s fragile though and her magia makes her even more fragile than normal.
Alina Grey is a great dps and has a solid connect. She’s a great PVP choice, but you’ll have to be careful with her connect’s chance at stun. I don’t think she can carry you as hard in challenge modes like Mami can, but she’s still an excellent choice and you’ll probably want her at some point.
Mito functions as an interesting sort of tank– she’s balanced type, so she brings more damage to the table than most tanks, and her tanking revolves around evade and taunt. Y’all know how I feel about tanks at this point, so I think she needs a few slots to actually fulfill her purpose, but she’s a solid choice and also just flat-out adorable.
Flame
Available Characters: Momoko Togame, Kyoko Sakura, Karin Misono, Himika Mao
For PVP, the clear answer is Kyoko. For PVE… the clear answer is probably Kyoko, but there is a bit of nuance here.
Kyoko is a blast gorilla (3 blast discs) with great stats, so she’s great for both pvp and pve. You know those events where you have a limited number of turns to kill waves of enemies? Perfect choice right here. She’ll mop up fights quickly and effectively. PVP, which is all about blast, is where she really shines, although you have to be a little more careful with all the water girls around.
Karin Misono is an accele gorilla (3 accele discs) and a support type with an excellent connect. She’s not my first choice for fire– If you’re looking for damage, I think Kyoko is much better, and there are other fire accele girls out there (Rika for example), but Karin still fills a good niche. Do not play her in mirrors unless you want to help others with easy wins.
Momoko Togame is well known as a meme spook, but she’s not as bad as others say. Yes, she is a wretched charge gorilla (3 charge discs) but her connect is goddamn amazing and useful. Charge can be pretty bad but it can have it’s uses outside of pvp. She also can fufill a tank role depending on memoria used, but still do decent damage, making her versatile.
Himika… Well, she’s a tank with VERY low attack. We all know the drill with tanks now, right? She does have a really good connect that can increase blast damage while also keeping your character alive, so she’s decent! However. There is one thing you might want to consider with Himika… Her personal memoria has a passive ability TO INCREASE YOUR CC DROP PERCENTAGE. If you’re like me and you’re constantly CC broke then this is clearly the best character in the history of characters released, ever. Her outfit is ugly.
—-
Okay, I think that’s good :’) Hopefully this helps! Sorry that this was so long, but I wanted to explain my reasoning for each unit to help with making your own decision and not just my ranking– you also have to consider your list of girls and what you’re missing/what you need. For example, Madoka is great, but if you have a ton of accele girls and no blast ones, maybe Kyoko is better. ECT

AJW We Are Running Thru Korakuen Hall 5/26/91 Commercial Tape
This one has links! So you know I'm not making this shit up!
Suzuka Minami & Takako Inoue & Cynthia Moreno vs. Bison Kimura & Mika Takahashi & Miori Kamiya part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb9L6-ybHoc part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7Ok-L8g3Jc Kamiya gets to work tossing Suzuka around before getting piledriven into pudding. Moreno tags in and man it's a shame she was perpetually disrespected by this company. Moreno was a treasure, you rubes. Bison is in full beast mode and she doesn't even have the leopard-print yet! Takako is young and gets stretched a lot. Whatever happened to Kamiya you say? She's Cooga, ya dingus; the dullest part of any late-90s card. Takahashi gets tagged in, puts Takako in an upside down double-underhook STFU WITH A BRIDGE and goes back to her corner so Bison can dropkick some more. The 70s Miles Davis solo of tag-ins. Incredible. Suzuka does a gorgeous vertical suplex to signal to all of us watching that though this is a heatless spotfest, the spots are in season. So dig in. Suzuka's dropkicks are so snappy it's a wonder she didn't get CTE from them. Kamiya must've just been spent by the Cooga era because she busts out tons of fun stuff here. Youth is young on the wasted. Bison, sensing the lack of Classic Tag Match Heat, throws Moreno into the bleachers. Good on her. Takako wants revenge but eats a Bison Chop. This is an interesting era for a spotfest--ie the pre-CTE era--despite it still being built off of the video-gamey idea of "strong attacks wear down more HP". Everybody busts out the weirdest shit they can come up with in the hope something--anything--will do it. But I shouldn't complain much. This is heavy on action, light on pointless near-falls, the screwups are minor, and there are some really fun and odd spots I haven't seen before. And Kaoru Ito is there to moisturize the losers!
Toshiyo Yamada vs. Yumiko Hotta part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfHqj7TdoTY part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtYiI8pb5hQ Q: And kicks?
A: And kicks.
Yamada is as spry and bland as ever and Hotta is still pretending she isn't a violence pervert. But the crowd knows The Truth so Hotta gets 1000000 streamers. Yamada, mad at her comparative lack of streamers, comes out swinging, only to get swung. Hotta brings the UWF realism but Yamada is convinced the puroresu will WIN. One thing they can both agree on is KICKS. The first notable one busts Yamada's nose and we are off to the races--which is to say, we are witnessing the suffering of women who work for men and therefore are never encouraged to have healthily competitive relationships with their peers. Healthy competition comes from camaraderie and a sense of community. Bull Nakano spoke in interviews about how brutalized and casually despised she was by the other wrestlers when she started. The Crush Gals  fucking hate each other irl. Aja Kong was made into a monster heel literally because she was biracial. These things and this match dynamic (hardway blood in basically a TV taping) are all symptoms of the same disorder: misogyny and the market sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Yeah, there's a ton of great work and powerful drama in this era, but how much of it was the inadvertent by-product of an unhealthy working environment? We'll never really know, since there was practically no other game in town--and what game there was (LLPW and JWP) was so consumed by the battle for market dominance, they could only mimic this model. AJW begat Rossy Ogawa which begat Arsion’s weirdly disjointed breed of misogyny which begat Stardom. “Send the girls out there and make them murder each other for the love of the fans! And fuck it! They're somehow also responsible for shilling all their merch, too, just to survive! And they’re little a nude sometimes! As a treat!” This match is pretty fun, don't get me wrong. But it's sometimes hard to distinguish a legitimately competitive match from all of what I just described. Did Hotta bust Yamada's nose cuz she was pissed about jobbing and there was no other outlet in the context of the company to properly express that frustration? Was that frustration even really directed at Yamada? Or was this more of a "Yoshiko shoot"-type situation, in which a wrestler makes a public display of frustration? Hotta turns the shoot into a work for good measure by attacking Yamada post-match. 1991 was 4000 years ago.
Aja Kong vs. Manami Toyota part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI746sByB-g part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnKy0Kp5_MU part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gdv67lFa5M Two of the most compelling figures this era produced--both of whom took the weird and bigoted roles they were given and turned them into powerful characters that transcended that small-mindedness. Aja set out to be a fan favorite despite the booking and it fucking worked. Manami didn't want to just be a pretty baby-face; she wanted depth and conflict. She also trained Tsukasa Fujimoto and Tsukushi, who carry on her legacy of being weirdos with pin-straight hair who love punishment. Aja still sells at this point and Manami is such a string-bean it looks like her boots are weighing her down. Apart from that contextual novelty, this is pretty classic Kong/Toyota. Toyota gets tied in more knots than those catalogued in Moby Dick; eats every kick ever and even takes a headbutt to the lower back. But contrary to their later body of work, Toyota's hope spots don't pop the crowd as much since they're not yet sure she's capbable of fighting from underneath. They like it when she fires up, but they don't yet believe in it. In defense of Aja and Toyota, their work is just as compelling as in 93, 94 or 95, the bookers just didn't believe it yet. It would take the hair vs hair match and Aja's teary performance at the end of Big Egg to convince them of what everyone else on earth already knew. It's as thankless to be out-of-step with the times as it is to be ahead of the times. If you haven't seen this and you're familiar with their higher profile matches, you should. It's more than just a curiosity or a template for later and "greater" things; it's a sign they already knew who they were and how prepared they were to transcend management's expectations. Wild finish and a moving post-match moment, too.
Akira Hokuto & Sakie Hasegawa vs. Bull Nakano & Bat Yoshinaga (2/3 Falls Match) part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En6sdmXeMAY part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQ2crxtgZhY Hokuto's legacy is equally massive but differently complex. Hokuto was never really given an explicit role other than asshole. An early injury earned her a reputation with fans as a wrestler who refused to lie down--despite the fact that breaking her neck and refusing to abandon the match was probably due more to how toxic the work environment was in AJW. Can't blame her, or really anybody under these circumstances. Christ, they all started training when they were barely teenagers; what other reality did they know? But because she was picked by the fans long before management knew what to do with her, she had a far different arc. In the ring, she worked from underneath, but as an asshole. Imagine if Muta was somehow Cactus Jack: a being who existed outside the bounds of normal human morality but also took such a colossal beating it made you feel bad for them. Only a tremendously charismatic, well-drawn performance could carry that off. Hokuto is so hard-headed in every sense it's impossible not to root for her; she refuses to know her own limits and, subsequently, refuses to acknowledge the limits of any of her opponents. Anyhow, AJW was hoping Bat Yoshinaga would be Lil Bull, even though that never panned out. Sakie is comically timid in the pre-match promo and Hokuto seems doubtful but down to clown as usual. Bull comes out in a feathery gown only to reveal a tattered tie-dyed Grateful Dead shirt to let everyone know she a) likes to party and b) is ready for a call from Vince whenevs. Hokuto is fully on her Maeda shit: aloof yet nervy. She's still in her Marine Wolves colors, too. A woman without a country. Sakie looks literally terrified about what she knows is coming. Ten seconds after the bell, Bull clotheslines them both and powerbombs Sakie for the first fall. THAT'S how Bull do. Hokuto is having none of it and top-rope dropkicks Bat's clavicle into a billion pieces for the second fall. THAT'S how Hokuto do. Now it's Bull vs Hokuto, what the crowd was thirsty for. Hokuto gets thrown over the ropes onto the bare floor but rallies and comes back with a suplex and the same dropkick she gave Bat--proving her contempt for Bull. Double underhook driver for good measure, but Bull gonna Bull. Sakie gets a huge pop on the hot tag despite being the obvious Kikuchi in this setting. Bat kicks and stretches Sakie back into her place. In some ways its hard to tell if Sakie's time in AJW is compelling because she is obviously better than how she was booked or compelling on its own merits--and due to her repeated injuries and transition to trainer we'll never know. But either way, Sakie whips. Hokuto helps her get some good licks in on Bull to drive home that despite her crankiness she believes in this young upstart after all. Sakie capitalizes on this heat by delivering a gorgeous flying headbutt to Bat, following by a pair of god-tier heel-kicks. The crowd is SHRIEKING. Bull senses Bat is gonna whiff it, so bum-rushes Sakie to get Hokuto to tag in. Hokuto is rewarded with a German suplex to the base of her skull and a double-team. A few dozen harrowing exchanges later, Hokuto is back on top and Sakie is ready to die for her. Unfortunately, the moment Bull comes off the top rope with a legdrop, we all know the credits gonna roll. Bull leads the crowd in chanting "Bat-o, Bat-o, Bat-o" and it's a shame that never got legs. Bull feels bad about how things ended, so gives them another chance at a fall. Sakie and Bat slap each other instead of kissing.
Weird but fun card full of all your faves before their prime. Have at it!
Wait . Hang on. Plum Mariko vs Chigusa Nagayo (JWP, 2/11/94) is tacked onto this tape! Fuck YES. Lorefice: the beef been squashed. THANK YOU. (jk jk you're still a bigot)
Watch it here, with glorious pre-match training footage cut from the commercial tape: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQLWwEHP4FQ Plum comes out HOT and bloodies Chigusa early. Never seen Plum this vampiric and fired tf up. Chigusa is having none of it and Hulks out because she's deeply cynical about joshi audiences at this point in her career. She also doesn't mind getting blood in her eyes because, of course, she is still Chigusa Nagayo~! (*DVDVR shout-out interrobang) I've talked a ton already about how much Plum rules and how wistful I get seeing any of her matches. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable saying "the business killed her" so instead I'll say "the business let her die." (The business has let many die but few so blatantly.) Chigusa has yet to enter her dom stage so instead inhabits a kind of quasi-Dynamite Kansai persona appropriate to JWP. She kicks less often but smushes necks just the same. She also is 1000x better on the mat. The announcer mentions, in English (?!) this is a full house at Koruken Hall. Chigusa hits pause to talk shit and Plum is OUTRAGED. Chigusa is also rocking a tan that says "yeah, I took some time off to chill tf out, what of it?" Plum thinks she can restart the match with a respectable test of strength (this is Chigusa, she of fightingo-spiritu, after all) only to get immediately clowned by The New Chigusa. The Post-Crush Gal. Plum says "oh fuck that" and throws on the Stretch Plum and DDTs Chigusa thru the earth's mantle. Chigusa is takes a breather outside then demands Plum give her enough room to get back in the ring, thus going full southern heel. Plum caaaan't quiiiite sink in the Stretch so does a quick German for good measure. Chigusa fights from beneath but gets shut down QUICK. Weird that this legitimately feels like anyone's game, given Chigusa's legendary status. Chigusa sets the record straight by soccer kicking Plum's head into the Mir space station (topical). The crowd now hates her. Plum squishes her back to the mat where she feels safe and torques Chigusa's legs until she looks like Brian Yuzna's seminal critique of capitalism, Society. Despite the contortions, Chigusa chinlocks her way to a victory we all kinda knew was coming.

Tips on making your support more attractive to potential followers
Sup nerds! I’ve been wanting to write a list like this for a bit. I’m not going to say that I’m a super expert at getting supports or anything like that, but these are just common mistakes I often see, and hopefully this can help give you a boost! Feel free to offer your own suggestions (or corrections), and I’ll add them here. This is going to be a long post, so I apologize ahead of time.
Important: you don’t need to be a whale to get followers. For example, my alt account that spends no money whatsoever has around 70. You also don’t need the best four stars in the game either. In fact, the most important factor for followers is: memoria slots, and event memoria. But more on that later.
Tip: What girls to use
Remember that followers are like you, who want girls to help carry them in content. When choosing what girls to use, try to think of what you yourself would prefer.
It goes without saying, but make sure your support list is fully leveled and fully awakened if possible. You’re better off having an empty spot than putting a low level girl there in your support. If your only fire girl is a level 23 Manaka, don’t stick her there. Just leave the spot empty.
A really important factor here are memoria slots. A Tsuruno with three memoria slots is probably going to be better than a Kyoko than one. Memoria is powerful and can vastly upgrade a girl-- more on what memoria to use later.
Speaking of Tsuruno, she and Yachiyo are the best girls possible if you’re not spending money. It’s easy to give them memoria slots, they have doppel challenges that reward you for working on them, and they’re decent units that people will want to use. Hinano is less so, but she’s still a decent pick if you have a good number of memoria slots on her and no other girls to choose from.
With this in mind, keep track of what girls will be getting uncapped in the future. This includes: Homura (Glasses), Felicia, Kaede, Oriko, Asuka, Nanaka, Hitagi (not in the game yet), Iroha, Sana, Tsukasa, Kako, and Meiyui so far.
If you’re still unsure who’s good to use, take a look at guides like this, in particular the four star tier list and the five star one. Online guides aren’t always reliable or updated on time, but they can tell you about how the community feels towards certain girls and what you should be aiming for. Personally, I find the previous guides very helpful.
Lastly, in this vein, do pay attention to how the community views girls. Momoko, despite her charge gorilla status, is actually pretty good and well worth choosing... but community perception of her as a useless Meme Spook will mean people won’t use her often.
Tip: Further tips to maximize the potential of your girls
These tips more apply to if you have multiple girls you could choose from.
Structure your girls according to the events. Ideally, you should be editing your support list once an event. For an event like Cross Connection, where you want to finish the turns as tightly as possible, a blast gorilla is much more favorable than accele. However, for something like Mitama’s Training where you might need to build accele for the challenge modes, accele might beat out blast. For example, I might use Darc instead of Madoka for my light spot during Cross Connection, but Madoka instead of Darc during Mitama’s Training.
A character who specializes in damage is better than tanks in terms of support. This isn’t to say that tanks are bad-- far from it. But when choosing a support, players are going to want the unit that can carry them best... which, sadly, probably isn’t going to be Mito or Kirika. You’re not going to need a tank if a good offensive unit can just kill everything for you instead. So, when choosing girls, try to skip the tanks.
There is one exception to offense > everything else, and that would be Madoka. This segues into my next point-- keep in mind common strategies, such as Double Madoka or Double Mami. If you’re lucky enough to have one of these girls, go ahead and slap them in the support slot. People are going to want to use them regardless.
Tip: The “All” Spot
The All spot for your support list is the most important factor here. You want to stick your power powerful girl who has the most memoria slots in it. Of course, other factors in choosing a girl include if you have a replacement for whatever element you’re sticking in there, but generally the All spot is where people look to first for event memoria in events.
Take a look next you can and compare the “All” spot to other ones. You’ll see this is where most of the Darcs and Fates can be found, as opposed to the Light spot. This is because the All spot is where the powerful girls go, so follow suit.
Tip: Event Memoria
Ideally, within the first day you want to slap event memoria on your “All” support. It should be the first thing you do once you get any event memoria at all-- even before you put the event memo on your own girl. To be honest, you don’t even need to put event memoria on anyone but the girl in the All spot.
This is because folks will be looking for event memoria as soon as it starts, and this is probably the fastest and most reliable way of getting people to use your girls. In fact, the most growth for your follower list will be from events.
With that in mind, rolling for more powerful event memo in that event’s gacha will further entice followers to use your girls. Of course, this isn’t always possible. Out of my first one hundred rolls for Suzune (RIP) I didn’t get a single event memo drop. Additionally, the rolls you do on limited banners don’t carry over, so this tip might not be reliable unless you have the stones to spend.
A better tip is to please remember to adjust event memo to events. Don’t keep old, crappy event memoria on a character. This is literally the best tip I can provide for you. Some of the event memoria is good enough to use all year round, but a lot of it can be crap that just holds back your girls. Memoria is the best way to make a good girl better, and it really matters what ones you choose.
What does especially good memoria look like? Well...
Tip: Picking Memoria
Take a look at this memoria tier list, in particular to the “I Made Friends” tier. These are the best memoria in the game, and if you have them, you’ll want to put them on your girls as soon as possible. In general, attack up > damage up.
Use memoria to help shape what a girl will be better at-- Tsuruno is magia-focused, but with some blast up memo she can be as good as a Kyoko. A Mami will MP-building memoria will be excellent for murdering with magia, and a Mami with a focus on AttackUp memoria will just murder with attacks. Try to coordinate the best possible combination for your support.
However, also pick memoria that makes sense for that girl. Momoko should not have a blast-up active memoria and Yachiyo should not have charge-up memoria. Ideally, tanks should have taunt memoria, and squishy girls should not have taunt memoria.
A real pet peeve of mine is when people have a one-slot girl and put an active memoria on her instead of a passive one. DON’T DO THIS, FOR THE LOVE OF MADOKAMI. Passive Memoria > Active Memoria (the exception is if a piece of event memo is active memoria). Passive memoria isn’t just useful the whole time the girl is active, but it also increases her attack stat along with her HP. Active memoria will increase HP and Defense, but not her attack stat. Please, for the star’s sake, make sure you prioritize passive over active.
Of course, there is another exception to this. Some girls have very good active personal memoria-- this ranges from Madoka, with accele draw, to Nanaka with blast draw. I still think that passive > active, even in this case, but if you have two slots it’s more acceptable to use their personal memoria here. But in general remember that passive >>>>> active.
Another one that I see (that makes me rage against the heavens) is to LEVEL YOUR DAMN MEMORIA. Yeah, you might have IMF but it’s level 1 and your girl’s stats are crap. More powerful memoria equals more powerful girls. Please, do this for not only your followers but also yourself.
Tip: Advertise yourself!
This is a more obvious way of getting followers, but it can take some work: advertising! This can include:
- Use the MagiReco discord and advertise yourself (in the appropriate channel). Don’t spam. (Please do not go into the discord and spam. One post is fine. Fifteen in a row is not.) - Advertise yourself in the monthly reddit support thread. The subreddit can be found here. The next monthly thread should be soon! - Advertise how much +bonus you give with your support during events with event memoria through your name! You ever see someone with a name like “Name+4″? This is them saying how much event memo they have. It can be very helpful! - This is the most difficult one, but reach out and connect with people. It can be through reddit or tumblr even-- I’ve made a lot of good friends so far just by asking. And if you swap info and become mutual followers in game, try to prioritize and make sure you use their supports so they can get the daily bonus. Every little bit helps, and we’re all in this together!
Tips: Last Thoughts
I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: ideally you should be looking at your lineup once an event. Pay attention to what people are asking for or needing help on. For example, during Kazumi’s event there was a mission where you had to finish three rounds in three turns. This was very difficult, even with a blast gorilla like Kyoko, and many folks were unsure of how to beat it. However, a Nanaka with blast draw or a Kirika with counter could solve the issue. Pay attention to what people are struggling with and try to be the answer to their problem.
The last tip from me will be to try and log on once a day, even if you’re burnt out. You don’t even need to do anything. This is so folks won’t see you as being gone from the game for a week. Since you have a very limited amount of follows, people will be fast to drop you if you’re not on often.
Closing
I hope this all helps! Again, do keep in mind I am not some follower expert. I only have around two hundred myself. But, hopefully these tips and tricks can help make you more useful to potential followers. Feel free to leave comments on your own advice, or criticism of something I’ve said.
