Fanart for Shin Megami Tensei V! Absolutely adored this game. Finished all the endings. Poured like 200 hours into it. Now, you might say "But Fict, this game really doesn't have 200 hours worth of content...you can pretty much explore all the options in just two runs" and to that I say "Valid but I really like the mechanics and setting and aesthetic and everything and I found the repetition relaxing instead of tedious and I also really really really wanted to fight Satan for real and the final boss music was WORTH IT"

Also I hear there's a sequel coming out soon? Oh boy, can't wait to go demon-collecting to some sick beats while contemplating the nature of time and responsibility and everything again

I originally wanted to have the beads be a mitama reference, but there's only 4 and I wanted six beads so I ended up going with something else.

Now, they're arranged as rough opposites. The white one reads as 直(す) (nao[su]) "to repair/mend" or "to cure." It's also the kanji seen in 直毘神 (Naobi no Kami), the name of a god of purification who quells calamities. They (together with Izunome) were born to oppose—guess who—禍津日神 (Magatsuhi no Kami)!

The red orb is 禍 (maga). Magatsuhi no Kami is a god of calamity who causes disaster to fall upon the realm, born when Izanagi "exorcised the impurity of hell" from his body after a trip to the underworld. However, some believe that appeasing Magatsuhi no Kami can prevent disaster. In such cases, Magatsuhi no Kami is usually enshrined alongside Naobi no Kami (see above link).

As you may have guessed, the "Nahobino" of the game is inspired by Naobi no Kami. Fascinating how they have the Nahobino use the power of the Magatsuhi, isn't it? Purification and calamity...

Anyway! The last two. The green orb is 神 (kami), which can be plainly translated as "god" or "deity." Taken a bit further, it refers to "the divine" and opposed to "the profane" or "the mundane." The blue is 産(み) (u[mi]), "birth." 神産み (kamiumi) as a word refers to the birth of the Shinto deities following the creation of the islands. Taken more broadly, it can refer to the idea of "the birth of a new god."

You can only just barely see it, but opposite of the 産 is 滅(び) (horo[bi]), which can be summed up as "to fall to ruin" or "to be destroyed."

I was originally going to have 神 arranged so you could see its opposite but I couldn't come up with a good enough "opposite." I thought maybe 魔 (ma) which is like, "demon/evil spirit," but one of the kanji for けがれ (kegare) ("impure" "dirty" "blaspheme") would also work really well...but it also might be too similar to 禍? Idk. Anyway it ended up not mattering 'cause you can't see it.

meka has fluffy hair, basically she's the type to style her own hair in a good way, mostly in a ponytail (despite how fluffy her hair is, there are some strands of her hair from the ponytail, idk how to explain it)

homu, however, despite her short hair, she always put it on a ponytail

meka is the only science club member who has the school gyaru aesthetic

School

all members of the science club members dress in their school dress code (the black blazer type), except for meka, she just wears the uniform without the blazer only and a cardigan on her waist and she's good to go. despite how they tell her to wear her blazer because its their dress code, meka doesn't care at all, i mean the school allows anyone wearing cardigans and them not wearing a blazer because either its too hot or they're just uncomfortable of the blazer

ok but i imagine they never wore those jumpers unless its like an experiment or something (idk)

meka's the only clubmate who has a phone chain, that being related to her favorite mecha anime, don't even ask why

ok but i imagine that because meka's whole appearance revolves around her school y2k fashion, this is all because of hoshiko (i hc hoshiko and yaku as cousins, and hoshiko is the only bully who knows meka well, mainly why well... she's the reason why meka's school appearance is like that 😭)

despite that she's also the only science club member with a decorative bag and a scrunchie on her wrist

all members of the science club have badges basically created by hoshiko, well they do appreciate it and kept it because she's basically yaku's cousin, they can't be all buddy buddy all because she's a bully

i take it back at the first one, maybe except for yaku... he's like akito, except; uniform, jacket and blazer. kaga as well, he wears a cardigan then a blazer as well, the only thing that wears the casual uniform is only horo & homu, yeah....

the collar on meka's part, is basically just loosened, usually homu or any science club member would be the one to fix it but meka just like it that way because well... why not :P

meka's y2k, i don't know she gives me that vibe lmao, and maybe the jirai kei style. if she's in a rush, she would wear just the classic casual outfit only

uh kaga & horo's outfit is all fancy smanshy, "oooh fancy pants rich mcgee over here, fuck you 🙄" (-yaku, probably, despite all of the science club members being rich)

yaku's probably like toya, except with the old design or his 2nd anni casual, maybe like tsukasa? with the 2nd anni casual

One piece 30 days challenge : Days 5 : Favourite devil fruit

This wasn’t an easy one, but my favourite is the Ito Ito no mi

The shape of this pear is so round and fascinating. The shape alone sparks joy in my heart. And pears are delicious. Alright, let’s be more serious now. I like how innovative Doffy is with his devil fruit. It wouldn’t be the one I’d pick if I chose a power. 

🍐 In one piece, some Devil Fruit seem to revolve around “thematic”, which means that they can do a lot of things related to the theme they evoke. Like, Horo horo no mi (negativity) or Boa’s / Sugar’s devil fruit. 

🍐 I think Ito Ito no mi as a semantic field that includes following items ; Manipulation - Puppeteering - Strings - control etc. So he could basically do anything that is related to these notions. What I like is that it plays on so many motifs and symbolism. Like, this devil fruit is so theatrical, it was essential to knit the theatrical metaphore in Dressrosa. 

🍐 I like all of Doffy’s name attacks and the fact that they end with “ito” haha. 

🍐 He can fly~ Control things~ Make clones~ A FUCKING birdcage ?? His power is so OP and also aesthetically pleasing which is important for me alright ? It looks so badass. 

I prefer it to “logia” type because it’s sooo innovative and more complex >o< I don’t have much to say on this matter.

Sometimes, I wish I had the dedication to stick with longer story ideas without rushing them. I also wish I had the time and energy to write a book or comic.

This drawing is based on a revamped version of a cringe-y storyline I created back in middle school which was basically me and my class having some fantasy-world-based secret. Like a Walmart off-brand fantasy version of bnha except with ALL of the old anime tropes crammed into one mess of a story written in my extra notebooks. I called it “Haswar Academy” and sometimes “Haswar Chronicles.” Yay inconsistency.

Basically the main character is a nOrMaL transfer student who falls for a ghost/girl from another dimension connected to their school building. He finds out his classmates are in on the shenanigans and already have an adventuring guild with a base that you could access through an  underground passageway. Think someone trying to rip off Alice Academy, Code Lyoko, Haruhi Suzumiya, some JRPGs, and Zero no Tsukaima (which already resembles Harry Potter. Yikes!)  On the bright side, I had the sense of making the two main characters original characters, haha.

Thinking about how I’d redo the setting was actually what made this drawing take a lot longer than what I usually make. 

If I ever revamp this story (likely through a series of drawings and rambles. Sorry no plans for a comic yet), it’d probably involve a smaller group within the school who pretend to be a type of LARP group playing an impressing augmented reality game while protecting the school/the world from outer dimensional weirdness.

The protagonist (His name was Horo? I’d probably change that haha) would still be a transfer student but also from a big tech family who gets pulled into the LARP game due to his dad’s inventions.

I also decided to rework Haswar (a.k.a. the outer dimensional ghost girl in the older version) into a quirky student who unwittingly holds a type of guidebook that heavily influences the supposed LARP group’s situation.

So yeah, that’s my ramble on Haswar’s Guide and Anthology (the picture above, and potentially the new title for this chaotic  plot bunny.)

Oh. And if you’re wondering what inspired me to even revisit this, it’s from watching the over-the-topness of Assassin’s Pride and enjoying the aesthetics/potential it had, even though the plot was kinda rushed and ridiculous in some ways. The catchy opening and the many tropes at once gave me the flashbacks of when I watched a bunch of anime openings/stuff for inspiration of this silly story.

I had no idea Ahlek'zi was mixed! Is the witch his parent or just who adopted him? How's Yabuyabu doing and how far has his wrestlemania spread across the land? Katsuie sounds like a slimy garbage man how does he do this........"work"

He legitimately doesn’t know if the witch is his parent or not (she’s a miqo’te, for the record), and it doesn’t particularly bother him either way. He suspects his father was either completely insignificant, undesirable, or dead by now. But there’s not a huge amount of family resemblance between him and his “mother” either, nor did she have a particularly normal motherly relationship with him at any point. (I haven’t actually gotten my ass on drawing it yet, but while he doesn’t have cat ears/a tail, he does have moon keeper eyes/fangs and would be a little more grey than he looks in-game.)

Yabuqa’s doing well! His wrestlemania hasn’t spread far yet bc he has yet to *cough couhg* actually go to a Grindstone event yet, but. He’s getting there, and I’ll probably play him a lot more actively in Stormblood. Also, he’s been fooling around with that Fereydoun fellow recently... they seem to have met while Yabuyabu was on route to Eorzea, and stuck together like glue since.

Katsuie... god. Half of the time he just tries to wheedle free things out of sympathetic souls, or tell them that he’ll reveal their future to them if they help him out. The other half of the time he’ll actively try to convince people he’s seen their future, and it’s bad. Gotta pay him to find out what and how to prevent it. Don’t worry. He and Ferreous Coffin will keep you safe, provided they have enough to eat. And plus, he knows all the secret far eastern techniques for purifying souls and exorcising evil spirits. (tl;dr, he has a form of the Echo and doesn’t realize what it is, also thinks that glimpses into the memories of other people are actually visions of their futures. He’s made a good career out of it, though.)

Raspberry: I'm not really a flower guy but if I had to pick it would probably be the Dahlia!

Passion fruit: I would describe my style as non-existent mostly lol. If I'm dressing up I prefer pastels and vivid colors but my wardrobe is usually just graphic tees and whatever pants I yank out of the drawer first haha.

Strawberry: Favorite dessert is Tiramisu waaaaay out in first place, i'm a sucker for the stuff. Cheesecake and chocolate dipped fruit is up there on the list too!

Banana: My favorite horror movie of all time is definitely John Carpenter's The Thing. The Descent fucks with me big time because I'm horribly claustrophobic. I'll also throw Evil Dead 2 out there if we're counting that as horror lol.

Pomegranate: I feel the most confident when I'm with my friends. If I had to pick a specific scenario it would probably be when I'm camping or when I throw parties. Basically situations where I'm not necessarily expected to perform or manage things but I thrive in making sure my friends have a good time so I do regardless.
