GOOD BYE 'History Of Kingdom : Part Ⅴ. Louis'

no but their choreo/performance is so much cleaner and more synchronous on the stages for hok6 comeback and I’m so proud of them!! they’ve grown a lot and there’s such a difference in less dancers and props being used for the dystopia stage that they really get to shine and I love that for them!!

Another interesting parallel between 화월가 (Last Flower) and 바람의 노래 (Song of the Wind) is that both perceptions of being left alone are valid and beautiful in their own way.

For this post, I will take the liberty to assume LF is told from k!Louis' perspective (as it came out during HOK5 era) and SOTW from k!Mujin's.

바람의 노래 (Song of the Wind) is all about k!Mujin explaining his loved one that it's okay if they forget him, that it was bound to happen no matter how cruel his fate is. It's a continuation of him being trapped in the magical tree of the land in order to protect it and its people. He does not know what eternity feels like, but he chooses to reassure his beloved instead.

“Even if you don't miss me, it's really okay,

Don't bother waiting, you can forget me and carry on leaving.”

k!Mujin chose his fate. He willingly trapped himself into that tree because it was what needed to be done if he wanted to save a kingdom he did not even know before. There is a sense of beautiful bravery and selflessness about k!Mujin, who sacrificed himself for the common good. He suffers greatly for his decision, but remains at peace and longs for his beloved. Does he regret it ? Of course, but it was what needed to be done.

화월가 (Last Flower) on the other end is full of anger and resentment, and it makes complete sense if it's about k!Louis. Unlike k!Mujin, k!Louis did not get to chose his fate. He simply woke up every day for ages, never getting old, and immortality is a bitter experience for the king. He considers himself to be a child trapped in time and loneliness, after all, what's lonelier than immortality ? You are bound to see all your loved ones die one after the other, over and over again, and all you can to is watch. He is angry at his beloved for leaving him, and hoping to see them again in his next life.

Eventually I will do a fully fleshed out analysis of the Moonlight Flower Tryptic (Promise, Last Flower and Song of the Wind) because they all showcase very similar experiences with different outcomes.

Unlike k!Mujin, k!Louis was unable to protect his loved one, and their absence is unbearable. He also mentions seeing them in the next life, which, as figurative as it can be, could also mean quite literally that this person will reincarnate in the future, therefore k!Louis will be able to see them again. He's suffering from his immortality, if anything he wishes he could just die so the reincarnation process would go faster (spring being a very common imagery for rebirth).

“Will spring really come to me too ?”

He's longing for his beloved, he is also longing for his death : he wants to die. He sings that he cannot live on now that they're gone, that he'll die of grief in their absence.

There is also the unavoidable loss of memory that comes with reincarnation. He's begging his loved one to not forget him and hoping that they will remember as they look through the horizon.

Even if we're under the same sky,

It's a cruel destiny where we can't be together

k!Louis hasn't accepted his fate because he's simply suffering from it. He had no say in his life and only suffers a great deal of pain caused by loneliness.

One king willingly locked himself up and renounced the world around him, the other lives on freely but would rather die and find a new fate instead.

I’m really praying that mujin’s era is different than louis’ was. In terms of like...the amount of events they had to do. Because it’s honestly unacceptable how many fan meets they had to do for hok5 promos. And on top of that preparing for AAA, and other events they went to. They traveled to the US, India, and Japan in like the span of two months??? on top of all the promos in SK.

Part of me feels like gfent is freaking out bc like...Dann and Arthur...have to enlist in like...a year? or two? So they’re trying to fit in as many events and other promos as possible to keep the momentum of Kingdom even after they’re gone serving, and I think they also want to finish the History of Kingdom series while they’re still here, too (which shouldn’t be a problem but they’re really pushing it)

But they have said they’re doing a world tour this year, HOK6 is coming out in March, they have another fan meet in Japan in February...like how is their year already STACKED??? 

And yet they haven’t done the really simple things that I think would help skyrocket their fame/fanbase whatever like being on popular variety shows, or getting a spot on Studio Choom (if rookies right out the gate can get a spot on Studio Choom there’s no reason why Kingdom can’t at this point). Kingdom have talked about how they want to do variety shows, gfent. Let’s go. Take away some of the fan meets and let them do something else.

Also I know Ivan talked about his health during Louis’ comeback and how he went to the hospital and fainted at the hospital. He says he’s okay, that he’ll take care of his health better, but that pisses me off even more because it should be gfent looking out for them. They shouldn’t be making them travel all over the world in a few weeks. And Mujin had that cold that wouldn’t go away for weeks!!! I’m sure the others have their own sickness and struggles and it’s just upsetting.

I just hope they don’t burn out, I hope gfent gets a CLUE during this comeback. You just can’t trust these labels and companies to actually take care of their groups. So, I hope Kingdom speak up for themselves. I hope they can.

Garden of the Gods

pairing: Louis x reader

authors note: hok5 is killing me! after seeing the mv i HAD to write this! also i hope you can't tell i rushed the ending lol

The gardens of King Louis’ court, this is where the gods’ live. Where the smell of oranges is intoxicating, where the ground is soft beneath your sandals, and where the newest party is being thrown. The people at court are dressed in chitons and peplos’, wearing masks and crowns representing which god they’re dressed as. Alongside the flowers naturally grown here there are decor pieces of roses, crocuses, and other bright and fragrant flowers. At each centerpiece in the garden there is burning incense, some areas have frankincense and others have myrrh, giving either a sweet or sophisticated scent.

Walking with stride and purpose, King Louis and his fellow men are the only ones not wearing such attire, they are in normal button ups and jackets. As they can view life from the past, they are expressed as being of a higher status and continue living in the present. "Gentlemen, what do you think?" Louis asks.

"Charming." one of them says, "Very you, don't you think?" "Very me?" Louis turns to see his guests face, carrying a look of amusement.

"Yes, you've always been fond of your dear god, Apollo. Now, instead of keeping the imagery to yourself it's expressed to your court." The guest explains, taking in the details of all the work Louis and his staff put into this.

"I hope this isn't said as an insult." Louis laughs. "Of course not," the king joins in the playful talking, "You are a very unique character, everything you touch leaves an imprint." Hearing this comment makes Louis feel at ease and a little giddy.

They start walking towards the table with drinks, "Pick whichever you'd like, we have wine, orange water, anything you'd like!" Louis offers. "What's this?" The king, with a charming mole below his eye, asked.

"Let's call it ambrosia. It's a wine mixed with honey and some fruit juices, very good! It's to minick the drink of the gods." Louis gleams, he doesn't know if he's ever felt this level of happiness before. Just for a little bit, to stop being king and be himself, a poet.

"As you can see," Louis gestures to his other guests, "We are the gods, at least for tonight, so we must do as they do." 

One of the kings wraps his arm around Louis' shoulders, "Poetic as always."

They make their way into the chateau, you watch them the whole interaction. A habit you've found yourself doing. 

One might think of you as Echo, the nymph cursed to repeat what's been said, a poor girl in an unrequited love with Narcissus. But you are not her. You're someone special, a goddess who was the first of her kind: the Witch. Specifically, the witch Circe. Dressed in a cream chitone with a warm green shawl, a crown of leaves atop your head with undone hair. You're adorned with perfumes of earthy scents, to really emulate the free-ness of Circe. 

Louis recommended it, you would have been dressed as a heroine of sorts. Maybe a Pleiade like Elektra or Maia, or even a character like Cassandra or Eurydice. You didn't think much of playing dress up, but this wasn't so bad. Circe is a fascinating character, hearing Louis talk of her family was very entertaining.

You keep track of time as they discuss whatever business the kings have. It is not your place to know what's being talked about, King Louis only asked you to keep guard and note who disobeyed orders. You remember that day very clearly, Louis just got back from his trip to meet with these kings, "I will be discussing sensitive matters, no one will be allowed near. The price for getting caught will be high treason. Anyone who dares misstep or shake my reputation among these kings will face consequences."

He was so mad even thinking of someone doing that. He gave you and some loyal servants the job of keeping watch of the chateau, noting every person who dares try to ruin this meeting for the king. So far there's been two, they showed up before the kings arrived and did something inside the chateau. 

It's boring for now, but when the meeting is over that's when Louis promised the party to get more fun. He promised some Greek story improv, you're looking forward to the nobles dressed as satyrs. 

About halfway through the meeting some lower noble starts messing around, the guards get called and carry him off. His name is written and will be dealt with within the week. 'I know it's important to Louis but, god, is this boring.' you think to yourself. 'He did give me the luxury to take breaks, unlike the poor servants. Oh well, I'll just get a drink.'

You make your way to the drinks and get some orange water, a Versailles speciality. 

Walking to a new spot to gaze over the chateau, you look around the guests and see what they're up to. This person chugging as much wine as possible, those two getting a little handsy and running off to somewhere private, oh a table of Louis' right hand men, they're more entertained by watching everyone else rather than joining in.

As time goes, Louis and his friends walk out of the chateau, a smirk on his face showing he's gotten whatever he needed from them. He spots you and leads the kings to meet you. 

"Gentlemen, this is a dear friend of mine, Y/N." you flush a little at the word 'dear' 'I'm a dear friend? How dear am I to be introduced that way?' "Ah, gentlemen, it is a pleasure to meet you." You give a small curtsey.

Louis grasps your arm, "Will you show them around, I need to do something," "Of course." The eye contact between the two of you was a little heavy, making you ponder more on the term 'Dear friend,' he said just a minute ago.

As he leaves, you show the 7 kings around the palace gardens, showing them the theater where classic Greek plays are being performed and where the temple to Apollo was, it's only a temple for tonight, usually this was a small dining room where the ladies at court enjoyed meals and parties in the gardens.

"He made a makeshift temple?" One king was humored by this, not humored exactly, surprised and noting how 'This is totally something Louis would do.'

"He's a dedicated follower." You amused them. "What's inside the temple?" This king was a little hesitant to walk inside, "Would you like to enter and find out?" Cue the eight of you entering the Temple d'Apollon.

Inside the temple, everything was adorned with gold and yellow. There were musicians playing the lyre, adorned with laurel wreaths. Every corner had a statue or bust of Apollo, and most importantly the doors had an image of a sun on them. There was an earthy smell of Hyacinth and frankincense. Being in here felt as though you'd step into antiquity Greece, or a romanticized version of Greece.

"Ah, so you've stumbled across Temple d'Apollon?" Louis was at the door with a cheerful smirk. He changed into a yellow off-white chitone, adorning a laurel wreath and a golden archery bow. "You outdo yourself." said a king, 'Woah how did I not notice how tall this guy is?' you were a little shocked staring up at him.

"Now if I am to guess correctly," The king in a ponytail said, "You are your patron, Apollo?" 

"I couldn't find any better fit."

"And who are you?" A king turned to you, slowly they all turned to look at what you wore, trying to pin down what goddess you could be.

"I am Circe of Aiaia, goddess of witchcraft."

"There's even a witch goddess?" 

"A few actually," You said with a smirk. Some eyes lingered on you. "Who else?"

You pondered, "Well all of Circe's siblings are witches, Perses, Pasiphae, and Aeetes. There's also Hekate, you could consider her more of a goddess of witchcraft, the others just happen to be witches." 

Looking outside of the temple, Louis noticed the intermission between plays. "Oh! I think it's time for one of the plays to start, shall I guide your majesties?" Louis said, giving a dramatized bow.

"You go above and beyond, Louis," One laughed, "We'd love to."

The Nine of you walk towards the side of the garden where there are chairs for the theatre. It's a few posts with gold ropes and vines wrapped around it with sheer drapes to give the look of a theater. 

The kings get the seats in the front, Louis making sure you and him sit next to each other. The play starts and, though it's improv and based purely on memory, it's well set up. 'It's a wonder how he always gets things done so swiftly.' 

Louis leans slightly to you, "Do you think they're enjoying the party." It's hard to tell, but there's worry in his voice.

"Of course, for as long as I've seen them they've been smiling and laughing. I don't know how they wouldn't be having fun." You assured him. 

Gazing over at his guests, Louis feels relieved to see them enjoying the play. "See," You say, "They're enjoying their time."

He lets out a breath he's been holding in, "Yeah, you're right." Turning towards you "Thank you, I don't know how much I could've done without your help."

Smiling, you tell him "Thank-you's can happen later, right now we need to tend to our guests."

As you turn to watch the rest of the play, Louis stays still. Still gazing at you, 'Our guests' he thinks, 'Why do I like the way it's said when you're speaking those words?'

When the play ends, Louis walks the guests over to the center of the gardens, a clear view of all the fun being had. 

“Now, I think this is a better welcome to my palace of Versailles.” Louis announces.

“Truly a sight, every turn there is something to be seen.” One king says, but you can’t deduce whether this is a backhanded comment or not.

There’s a light pop, gazing upwards, the fireworks have started. 

One of the taller kings, who looks like the leader of this group, laughs “Everytime I think you’ve outdone yourself, you pull out more theatrics.”

Louis gives a sheepish grin, “Something I just can’t help.” 

As the night begins to end and servants start cleaning up some messes, Louis shows the kings to their apartments, “I would be a horrible host if I didn’t let you stay over!” 

Each of their apartments were personalized to them, mixing elements of Versailles and their own kingdom. Letting them feel at home even in a foreign kingdom.

As everyone settles in, you and Louis are in his apartment. Both slouching onto the couch, you can finally unwind. The air was silent, but with your company Louis feels at ease. He always felt as though he could only be his true self when you are around. The two of you had an unspoken agreement that there was no judgement towards each other, the court of Versailles was filled with one-upping another. There was not a moment where someone wasn’t keeping an eye on you. But in the privacy of each other, those walls could be let down.

You can feel Louis’ eyes on your hand, like he’s contemplating whether it’s appropriate to hold you. 

“Are you okay? It’s been a stressful day.” You ask.

“I’m fine, just exhausted.” he lets out a sigh.

“Should I tuck you into bed, your Majesty.” You joke. He bursts into a laugh, “Can I– can I say something? Something a little more serious?” 

“Of course, what’s wrong?” 

“N-nothings wrong, I just,” he starts. He starts looking around the room, a light pink growing on his cheeks.

“Maybe it was the other kings, maybe it was during the play, I, uh.” He can feel his heart beat out of his ribcage, he’s never been this nervous in his life. ‘I’m a king!’ He thought, ‘King’s don’t get nervous!’

“I’m very appreciative of you being with me.” He stammers, ‘This is sounding so wrong!’ he thinks.

“You’re apprecia-” 

“I’m in love with you!” 

‘Oh no’ Louis thinks, face turned entirely red. You sat there speechless, taking in as much as possible. The silence was very heavy and clouded the whole room.

“I- uh,” He starts. 

“I think I may be in love with you, too.” You begin to blush, “We’ve always had some air of romance together,” you laugh.

“Really?” Louis can’t comprehend what he just heard. 

“Yeah,” You smile at him. 

He falls back onto the couch, “That was so stressful to do!” You burst out laughing. Standing up, you walk over and kiss his forehead, “Well now all the stress is over. Tomorrow should be a breeze.” 

He grabs your hand, “Stay the night?” 

“Of course,” 

You sat onto the ground, directly facing Louis, for most of that night the two of you talked. When the morning came, you were asleep leaning onto the couch and Louis was sleeping on the floor. 

“Your Majesty! Are you okay?” A head servant asked frantically.

Waking up, Louis stretched, “I’m fine, I’m fine. What’s the matter?”

The servant straightened up, “Breakfast is soon, what should be on the menu for your guests?”

“Whatever is our finest, go.”

With that, the servant leaves the room. Louis gets up and walks towards you, picking you up he gently lays you onto his bed. Tucking you in as he gets ready for the day. 

You stir a little, “Don’t worry, get some more rest. I may have to talk about more boring issues with the other kings. Sleep now.”

My character reference sheet for fic AU Louis is complete! He gets three outfits because he’s the King of Aesthetic! Major 18th century vibes.

Outfit 1 (the first two pics) is a blue day suit with a yellow waistcoat, which is his default everyday outfit. I couldn’t decide if I wanted his hair to be pulled back in a more late 18th century fashion or if I wanted it to be long and curly in a late 17th century fashion, so I decided to draw both and he can just wear it however he wants whenever he wants.

Outfit 2 (next pair of pics) is his court suit meant for holding court. It takes partial inspiration from the real attire that French kings wore, but not really. The base layers from the first outfit are recolored, the colors picked from Louis’s Portrait costume from HOK5. The blue cape is very much the blue cape from his Ascension teaser and from the MV.

Outfit 3 (the final pic) is his lounge wear attire, consisting of his normal base layers (shirt, waistcoat, breeches, and stockings) with a stylish pink banyan. His buckle shoes are now wool felt slippers for maximum relaxation. I’m not sure if I’ll write a scene featuring this outfit, but I’d like to.
