interesting thing that i have discovered after moving from job where i am constantly traveling and have no idea where i am going to be next week or six months from now to a stable job where i have an apartment and "normal" schedule is that my general life existential problems seem much more intimidating and intractable. i've had pretty much the same anxieties about the future the entire time, but they feel much easier to dismiss when i'm living out of a duffel bag and taking things one day at a time because that's the only option vs when i have an apartment full of possessions and i have to plan for the future and actually make decisions for myself. before, when it was normal for me to get a phone call at 8 am telling me i needed to get on a plane or a boat in two hours, it felt almost comfortingly like any decisions about the future were out of my hands, and i could just work when i had to and chill the rest of the time. now i'm like, oh. i'm going to have to wake up and continue to do things the way i do them now every day for the rest of my life unless i actually explicitly make a decision to change something about my life, which is something i have pretty much never done without outside influence

Frenchie understands. He's always been good at giving Hughie what he needs. He understands that honesty can be delivered with tenderness. That Hughie doesn't need placating. He keeps Hughie together while he's soft and vulnerable. It isn't seen as a weakness. It's not the black mark on his record Hughie might have worried it would be were he with anyone else.

Hughie shuffles down to press his ear to where Frenchie's heart beats behind his ribcage. He could fall asleep like this, thudded into oblivion by the hot water and the drumming of Frenchie's heart. Wrapped in the safety of his arms.

He smiles. It's possibly the sweetest thing Frenchie could ever say. Hughie often does battle with his self esteem. In this long, losing war, Frenchie is his most treasured ally. He lifts him up in ways that Hughie can never manage to do. He sees all his faults, his weaknesses, and deems them perfect. He wouldn't have them changed, when Hughie would do almost anything to change so much of who he is. It makes being Hughie Campbell bearable.

He pulls away, straightening up to catch Frenchie's mouth in a kiss. His hand wanders, from his face to his slicked back hair. He wishes he could feel all of him at once. "I believe you." Hughie meets Frenchie's eyes and smiles. "I believe you, mon fleur. You make being me worth it."

It's never going to be easy. Or at least Frenchie hopes that it isn't. Some things shouldn't be easy. Hughie should cling to this as long as he can. Before he gets hard and cracked like Frenchie. Frenchie hopes there's a way out for Hughie. He deserves that. A way to be free from this.

So he doesn't have to break himself a little to keep living.

Survival shouldn't be like this, he doesn't think. Not for people like Hughie. Good people. People who had a chance. Frenchie never had one. He wasn't going to pretend like he did. He could bear the brunt of all of this if he needed to. Without even shrugging. He could be Hughie's Atlas.

But Hughie made himself such. Frenchie couldn't pry the world from his shoulders. They were in this too deep. Hughie had to suffer too. He just hoped that Hughie got a chance to be someone better after all of this.

"Bullshitting would only be a bandaid. You do not need a bandaid, mon lapin." It wouldn't be fair to Hughie to give him one, either. Hughie wound himself around him and Frenchie found himself relaxing beneath the warm spray of water with a pleased sigh. It never gets easier to hear it. That Hughie loves him. Frenchie takes it and keeps it careful in his heart where he can marvel at it. He doesn't deserve it, the love.

Some days he wonders how this can be, that Hughie can look upon him and see something worth loving. But that is a private thought for later. He'll bask in it, now.

"I love who you are, Petit Hughie." And that's honest, and true. "Even if it means we are uh-- - In here, every time. It is worth it, to me. To have you. Tu me crois?" Do you believe me?

What’s your favourite story you’ve written?

OH GOD this is hard. I think it depends on the fandom!

For Good Omens, it would be Though I've Done No Wrong, my "what if Aziraphale hadn't interrupted Crowley's confession at the end of season 2" fic. It's VERY angsty but also, so fun to write. And there are two chapters from both Crowley and Aziraphale's POVs!

For Hades, it would be Born to Ride. It's one of my more recent ones but OH my god I love it. I love it to death. It was so fun to write, it was so fun to read the reactions to it, I even got a couple messages from people who hadn't read anything Charmes related before that they loved it! Which made me all gooey inside.

In terms of original stories, a couple years ago I started writing a series of short stories surrounding a postal worker delivering mail in a long post apocalyptic world. She meets all kinds of strange characters who have rebuilt their lives and still need their mail, and she loves to travel, so she figured she might as well help some folks while she's at it. Very fun, very cute, but also very serene and contemplative vibes. I don't think it will see the light of day, but I occasionally like to add to it.

If I were to choose a favorite though hnnnnnnnnnnnnng probably Born to Ride. It's just so fun
