but your first pregnancy w sae.... and he is so so careful and just always on his toes.. if you evn whince quietly.. he is tgere beside you the next second.. checking you. checking the internet if it meant sonething.. he is a little too much of. a health freak.. would buy you high quality fiber and and keeep your diet in check.. "babe youre not eating enuf.." <- get used to it. HE IS SUPER NAGGY w your chips intake. "but im craving" he just shakes his heads.. "youre gonna drink that juice after tgis" LILE HIS LOGIC IS TO CANCEL IT ALL OUT. he's the type to baby feed you.. "one more bite.. say aah" its funny bec he has such a brick face..his eyebrows narrowed.. almost frowning.... and worksouts.. will be SO CRUCIAL.. like you cannot fight him. dw he'd drrss you up.... and mood swings.. sae has trouble understanding sometimes, but his calm nature makes up for it. he is soo sooo patient. like he reads your behaviour a little to well so he takes care of it in otger ways, if not words.. he'd struggle a little too, nights after you've cried your eyes sore bec youre a little overwhlemed, he may not be the best at words, he'd affirm you in simple words, nothing decorative, andntherr is so much sincerity in his eyes that it always work... he knows you'll do a good job, but he'd always have this lingering feeling eating him away if he can be a father your baby deserves, what if he is worse than his own dad, he'd be so quiet and he isnt the type to share but you'd see through it, you always do w himm.. and instead of explicitly telling him, you assure him subtley.. wehn you squeeze his hand during sonograms.. or the time you reminded him, there is no other man, who'd be a better father than him... who you'd trust more than him. his eyes almost glass.. but he'd never cry, until he hold his little baby girl in his arms for.the first time.. no feeling ever compares to it.. and all the little doubts just goes away in her little baby's smile.. he sniff trying to hold back, but s few tears sneak away and you see him smilingg kissing your little babyy. sae lovess holding her, he has a sore arm but he would not out her down, always next to her chest.. and he is super into baby stuff, like the minute somebody else holds his baby a part og him is just clenching. no PAT THAT DOWN !! Put. A HAND ON HER HEAD.. hold her back..... he is cursing everyone mentally bec these people cannot hold a baby. ooh and he is super into chnaging and cleaning and giving her baths, he just wants to do it rite and help you.. :'') and YES HE IS THE DAD WHO TAKES HIS BABY BAGPACK AND STRAPS HER TO HIM FOR RUNS.. AND TAKES HER TO WORKOUT.. your little girl would laugh so loyd seeing her daddy work out, she would giggle, saying dadda in her cute baby voicee... and sae would feel so muvh pridee in his chest, and his team mates just looking at him, bec he is not sneering or deadly lol. Having you was the best thing that happened to him and you giving him his little babygirl, he is healed, loved and whole.

An Akuma transports the Science Kids into a kids show!
*The Science Kids get transported into a very colorful forest where the bees don’t sting you and the snakes have weirdly big eyes. Zoé, Ismael, and Reshma remain human, only with childish clothing and Reshma’s hair is covered by a hood leaving only her pigtails exposed while Jean is a purple rabbit wearing a white belt, Aurore is a blue dog, Cosette is a pink… something in a polka-dotted shirt, and Mireille is a dark blue penguin with a bow in her hair*
Ismael: *Sees he’s wearing overalls* Ugh! What am I wearing?!
Denise: *Now a magenta messenger bag hanging on Zoé’s shoulder* You think that’s bad?! I’m a BAG!
Jean: And I’m a weirdly-colored rabbit wearing a belt. *Pulls an ID out of their quills* And I’m appropriately named Belt.
Marc’s voice: Get me out of here!
*Aurore opens Denise-bag, and out shoots a floating red red with a face*
Cosette: What the- What is that?!
Marc: I got turned into a book! How am I supposed to pick stuff up?!
Mireille: Okay, let’s calm down- And why don’t I have fingers?!
Cosette: You’re a penguin! What the hell even am I?! I’m pink and I have antenna! Am I a wingless butterfly, or something?!
Jean: Wait. Where’s Lacey and Simon?
Lacey: INCOMING! *Lands next to them with a forest green hang glider* That was awesome!
Reshma: Okay, we’ve found Lacey, but what about-
*The hang gliders morphs into a forest green backpack with a face*
Simon: That was awful! I-I was a backpack, and then THAT! It was horrible! We need to get out of here!
Jean: Don’t worry. All Aurore needs to do is find some clues.
Aurore: What?
Jean: Yeah, you’re a blue dog, so you’re good at finding clues.
Aurore: … What show is this again?… N-never mind. Okay, so do I just look around until I see- Oh, there’s a clue on Marc. *Points to a blue paw print on Marc*
Zoé: Right! Books have information. So, Marc, how do we get out of here?
Marc: Well, let’s see. *Turns his pages to a random map* This is strangely convenient. Looks like we have to go down the Rapid River, through the Stench Swamp, and then to Portal Peak where a portal to our real world will be waiting for us. River, Swamp, Peak. River, Swamp, Peak. River- *Cosette slaps him* How long was I out?! I-I was talking and then repeating that!
Ismael: You’ll get over it. And this’ll be easy; it’s just a dumb kid’s show. Now, let’s get moving… Why can I move?
Disembodied Voices: Sing the song!
Simon: What kind of bull-
Disembodied Voices: Sing the song! *Giggling*
Reshma: It sounds like a bunch of kids.
Zoé Oh, it’s one of those cartoons. You know, the ones where kids at home interact with the main characters and make the show longer.
Ismael: Okay, I got that. But, why can’t we move?
Reshma: I think we have to work with the kids in order to keep the plot going.
Jean: Hey, as long as I get to sing, I’m cool with it! Hey, kids! Do you know how the song goes?
Disembodied Voices: Yeah!
Jean: Then let’s sing it together!
*One annoying travel song later*
Jean: We made it to the rapid river! And that song didn’t make things go faster like I had hoped.
Disembodied Voices: Yay!
Marc: *Opens his pages to the map* River, Swamp, Peak! In case you needed a reminder.
Zoé: Denise, do you have anything we can use to get across the river?
Denise: Maybe I do! Let’s see… *The items somehow fly out of them* I have an apple, a spoon, some logs that somehow fit in me, and some boots!
Ismael: Easy. It’s obviously the-
Aurore: Ismael, the kids are supposed to solve this. Otherwise, they don’t learn.
Ismael: … Are you serious?
Aurore: Annoying, I know. I’ve got a little sister. Watch and learn. Hey, kids! Do you know what we can use to build a raft to get across the rapid river? Is it… The apple?
Disembodied Voices: No!
Marc: Could it be the boots?
Disembodied Voicee: No!
Lacey: Perhaps the the spoon?
Disembodied Voices: No!
Cosette: Or maybe, the logs?
Disembodied Voices: Yeah!
Cosette: Very good! Now let’s build the raft.
Ismael: Finally!
Cosette: By counting the logs!
Ismael: What?!
*Each log floats up as Cosette and the disembodied children’s voices count them*
Cosette/Disembodied Voices: One… Two… Three… Four… Five… Six… Seven… Eight… Nine… Ten!
Cosette: We have ten logs! Just enough to build a raft!
Ismael: Oh, thank God! Finally!
Denise: Now let’s count in Spanish!
Ismael: WHAT?!
Denise/Disembodied Voices: Uno… Dos… Tres… Quattro… Cinco… Seis… Siete… Ocho… Nueve… Diez!
Ismael: Okay, if we’re done teaching kids languages-
Reshma: Now let’s count in Hindi!
Ismael: Or we can go across the river?!
Disembodied Voices: *Crying*
Mireille: Ismael! Without their help, we won’t get out of here.
Ismael: Ugh! Hey, kids, don’t cry! Here’s a fun idea! Let’s sing that same dumb song we just sung over and over!
Disembodied Voices: Yay!
Ismael: Of course, you’d like that.
Jean: Let’s get singing!… Someone help me.
*Later, on the raft*
Jean: I’m never singing that song again.
Lacey: *Gags* Is anyone else getting motion sick?
Aurore: Lacey! You can’t throw up on a preschool show!
Lacey: Don’t you think I know that?! *Unzips Simon*
Simon: What are you doing? What are you doing?! *Lacey throws up in one of his pockets* WHY?!
Marc: Oh, that’s just nasty.
*Suddenly, the raft comes to a stop*
Jean: Look! We’ve made it to the swamp!
Marc: *Opens his pages to the map* River, swamp, peak! I can’t stop doing this no matter how hard I try!
Reshma: *Her pigtails extend and take the appearance of rulers. She dips one in the swamp and pulls it back up with the three-inch mark illuminated* It seems the swamp is too shallow for the raft to go through, and far too odorous to walk through.
Mireille: How will we get across?
Disembodied Voices: The boots!
Ismael: Right. Finally! Denise, help us out.
Denise: … Here’s the thing… I can’t find them.
Disembodied Voices: Uh oh! It was Snatcher the Ladybug!
Simon: Who?
Cosette: Ah, there’s usually some kind of small-time villain in these shows. Apparently, ours is a ladybug who snatches things.
Ismael: How did a tiny bug snatch our boots?
Cosette: I don’t know, Ismael. Why am I a possibly a pink wingless butterfly walking on its hind legs?
Aurore: Hey, kids! Do you know where Snatcher went? Is she under the rock? In the bush? Or in the tree?
Disembodied Voice: In the tree!
*The Science Kids turn to see a ladybug sitting on a tree branch with the boots*
Marc: There she is! In order to get the boots back from Snatcher, we’ll need to teach her shame! Can you say ‘Shame?’
Disembodied Voices: Shame!
Marc: Very good! Shame is a bad feeling caused by when you do something wrong, but not many people feel shame for their own bad actions... So we shame over and over them until they feel something! Repeat after me, ‘Snatcher, enough snatching!’
Disembodied Voices: Snatcher, enough snatching! Snatcher, enough snatching! Snatching, enough snatching!
*Snatcher relents and hands the boots back*
Aurore: We did it!
Ismael: NOW BEAT IT! *Smacks Snatcher away with Marc*
Marc: OW!
Disembodied Voices: *Gasp*
Simon: Ismael! You can’t even show moderate violence on a kids show!
Ismael: I doubt that’ll have an effect on the kids. Plus, that ladybug won’t mess with us. Now let’s get through this swamp.
Disembodied Voices: Sing the song!
Jean: Oh, God… Okay! One more time! Please!
*One traveling song later*
Jean: Can someone give me amnesia? Please?
Denise: Too late for that, Jean. We made it to Portal Peak!
Marc: *Opens his pages to the map* River, swamp, p- *Cosette slaps him* Thank you.
Aurore: *Points to a blue paw print* Hey! I found a clue! And it’s right on this- OH, FU-UDGE! THAT’S A BEAR!
*The bear gets on its hind legs and blocks the way to the portal*
Mireille: And it’s blocking our way out! What are going to do?!
Disembodied Voices: Use your imaginations!
Mireille: I… What? Uh… Okay. I imagine that the bear is gone? *Nothing happens*
Cosette: That’s not gonna work. Our childlike imaginations withered and turned to dust long ago.
Lacey: Well, that settles it! Guys, the kids at home have gotten us this far, but now, it’s time for some good-natured moderate violence.
Marc/Aurore: *Big sibling gasps*
Marc: Lacey!
Aurore: Absolutely not! Violence in any amount is inappropriate for a preschool show!
Lacey: Well, duh! That’s why we have the kids close their eyes.
Ismael: Ah, of course! Hey, kids! We’re gonna play a fun game! Do you wanna play?!
Disembodied Voices: Yeah!
Ismael: Super! Now, let’s all close our eyes until I tell you to open them! And remember, no peeking.
*The screen turns dark as the only sounds that can be heard are screaming, buzzsaws whirring, bones cracking, and more screaming. There’s a slight peak at what’s happening and shows Marc biting the bear’s arm, Cosette and Lacey putting it in a headlock, and Mireille about to attack it with a chainsaw*
Jean: *Unsheathing a sword* HEY! NO PEEKING!
*The screen goes dark again, and even more screams are heard until…*
Denise: Okay! All little niños can open their eyes now!
*The Science Kids stand innocently in front of what remains of the bear and grin*
Ismael: Great job, everyone! I knew you could do it! Now let’s get home we can be as inappropriate as we fucking please!
Disembodied Voices: *Gasp*
Zoé: Ismael, we’re not home yet.
Jean: Fuck it! I’m tired of singing the damn song! I wanna fucking curse like a sailor!
Lacey: Know what? Me too! We kicked this bear’s ass, and now we’re going home!
Disembodied Voice 1: Fuck!
Reshma: Oh, dear.
Cosette: Aw, they’re learning how to curse properly! I’m so proud!
Marc: Nope. Don’t be proud. We messed these children up for life.
Ismael: Hey, Jean and I said no peeking. You guys heard us. They heard us.

Boyfriend!Jacob
A/N - I thought it would be fun to do a little boyfriend series where I give my opinions on how each of the members would be as a boyfriend.
Warnings - none
Read More - Sangyeon | Jacob | Younghoon | Hyunjae | Juyeon | Kevin | New | Q | Haknyeon | Sunwoo | Eric
The sweetest man
Okay I see him starting out as friends with his crush first and then asking them out
But I see him as pretty confident when he likes someone
Like he can easily ask a person out if he likes them no problem
You can also probably tell he likes you
He would be extra nice to you
His eyes would be so soft when he looks at you I’m-
He would genuinely look at you like the most precious person in the world
Depending on if you’re younger or older than him
he would be so soft and protective over a younger s/o
and he would be a whole babie for an older s/o
I’m in tears hold on
Plans really cute surprise dates for you
Like you’ll know he was coming over but then he’s like
“I have a surprise for you”
and he made a whole picnic for you guys
Probably writes a song for you brb crying
Would definitely love to support you and your passions
Like you would support his music and he would be happy to see you working on whatever you’re passionate about
and if you’re not passionate about anything, that would be okay as well
probably would help you find your way
very enthusiastic about that
just loveees to help you with anything
You’ll be doing the dishes
he will ask to help
or wait no he would just start helping actually
even if you decline, he will find a way
he will kiss your cheeks often hehe
loves to hug you
wants you to visit Canada with him so he can show you his hometown
very important to him
you’d probably be friends with kevin honestly
and you’d know the members, they think you’re sweet
bc if you’re dating Jacob, you must be an angel toooo
omg talking with him in the middle of the night before falling asleep in his arms
his soft voicee
his hand brushing your hair out of your face as you tell him about your day
I will cry I swear
Can you tell he’s my bias
Perfection in a human who knew it was possible?

Yo okay I'm not sure if I'm literally insane but-
Do you think voices have specific temperatures to them? Like just the sound of the voicee in general? Like one person might have a cold-tone voice while someone else has a warm-tone voice, and its the voice itself that has the warmth, not the way you use it.
Idk its a bit hard to explain my thought process, but i know what my brain is thinking and its weird to say the least but really interesting to me.
Like i have cool voice but my friend has a warm voice and my aunt has a lukewarm voice and my cousin has an ice cold voice- but its not the same conotation of warm and cold in the emotions sense its warm and cold in literally the temperature sense and i don't know how to explain it like- i wish i had a good, well known voice to give an example of...
Oh!! Like Neil Patrick Harris has a slightly colder voice, and (fuck it i can't think of a well known person) Eret has a warm voice. Like its not the WAY they talk that makes it that way- Eret could be giving a horribly harsh speach and his voice would still be warm, or Neil could be having the time of his life, laughing and joking, and it'd still be cold
Idk maybe I'm just a little insane

We were coming to the end of our portrait session at Nelson Mandela Park Public School and some of the staff were pacing a little nervously urging us not to pack up just yet. When they ushered in this kid there was a palpable wave of excitement among the teachers. This was no ordinary student, this was Mustafa Ahmed aka Mustafa the Poet. At this point he was already a celebrity in Regent Park with a growing profile across Toronto. Within the next few years he'd be appointed by Justin Trudeau to a youth culture panel, name-checked by Drake, working with Lorraine Segato and Thompson Egbo-Egbo and named as Toronto's poet laureate. From there he's gone on to collaborate with Brendan Canning, Drake, The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes, James Blake and Valentino designer Pierpaolo Piccioli. He's just getting started. Perhaps the coolest thing about this incredibly cool kid is that no matter how far his art has taken him, he always remains deeply connected to Regent Park. Portrait, as always, by Doug Nicholson. Find out more about the Six String Nation project and book a live or virtual presentation at https://www.sixstringnation.com . . . . . . . #luminatofestival #multiculturalism #toronto #torontohiphop #mustafathepoet #regentparktoronto #CanEd #CanadianMusic #CanadianArt #SocialStudies #CanadianGuitar #nelsonmandelaparkpublicschool #caltoncases #acousticguitar #CanadianTeachers #K12 #keynotespeaker #CdnEd #ETFO #OSSTF #EdLeaders #OECD #VoiceEd #imaginED #sixstringnation #6SN #portraits #portraitphotography https://instagr.am/p/CID-uPmnnQ6/

Unrequited Love
Word Count: 1,445
So I wrote this awhile back and forgot to post it. XD Hopefully I caught most of the mistakes. I wrote it in my notebook the typed it on here, though I’m pretty sure I got most of the mistakes.
The characters you see in this story belongs to my friend (Fawkes and Ayfara) and me (Veran). It doesn’t follow any certain point of the BoTW storyline, it’s just our OCs interacting.
Hope you enjoy!
~~~
Fawkes poked at the fire, being mindful of his feathers, and gave a quick glance to Veran who was ringing his scarf in his hands. With simple grace he handed the half Zora his water skin.
“Thanks,” Veran managed dryly taking a quick sip then another before handing it back to Fawkes. Silence once again surrounded them interrupted only by the cracks of the dying fire.
“I’ll go get some more firewood.” With that announcement Veran stood up, a bit stiff, and grabbed his spear sitting next to him. “Be back in a bit!” He waved Fawkes off and entered the woods surrounding them, slightly conscious about danger.
Taking a few deep breaths, Veran relaxed his shoulders and gather his thoughts. “Okay Veran, just keep calm. You can do this. Just tell him about your feelings and if he doesn’t feel the same then you both try to act like it never happened.” His only answer was the howling of the wind and Veran groaned, stopping in his tracks. Who am I kidding, he thought as he looked down at his webbed hands. He’ll never like me, hell I don’t even like me. Pushing away his dark thoughts, Veran started forwards once more, eyes searching for wood.
~
Veran approached back to the camp, his arms full of sticks that proved worthy to be thrown to the fire. He felt his heart pound with every stop, imagining Fawke’s face lit by the fire’s flames, his feathers taking a golden tone from the light.
A warm smile stretched on Veran’s face as he pictured the scene perfectly. Fawkes would be seated in between Veran and Ayfara, Ayfara and Fawkes would be on the makeshift bench while Veran would be comfortable on the ground his back leaning against the bench. They would laugh and tell stories or sit in complete and comfortable silence.
The camp was just a few feet away and there was the sound of a calm familiar laugh, Ayfara’s laugh. A warm feeling rose in Veran’s stomach, enjoying the sound of her laughter.
“Hey, Fawkes, can I tell you something?” Ayfara’s voice was soft, it’s lowish tone coming off nervous. Veran stopped and listened.
Fawkes voicee was serious but there was a softness to it that felt... intimate. “Sure.”
There was a moment of silence then Ayfara finally spoke up. “I’m afraid that I can no longer keep my feelings for you a secret. You, see, I’ve begun to think of you more as a friend and I wonder if you feel the same?”
Silence, there was complete and utter silence. Veran dared a look trying to steady his arms which had begun to tremble. The two were in a hug, foreheads touching, one of the many ways Rito’s showed affection.
“I feel the same.”
Hearing Fawkes say those words, Veran dropped the pile of sticks, gaining their attention. Ayfara spoke his name with a mix of surprise and regret, but that was all he allowed himself to hear.
Veran turned back were he had come from and ran, ignoring the shouts of his friends along with the the tears that had begun to slide down his cheeks. He didn’t even have to look where he was going, the memory of the same path was burned in his mind, in just a few moments he would be near a lake and at that lake was a call cavern. It’s floor was slightly flooding due to the underwater entrance that laid beneath it and the crevice that played as the cave’s thin entrance. The opening was thin and hard to get through and it would be hard for anyone other then a Zora to make it to the underwater entrance due to it’s depth. It was the perfect hiding spot, hidden and safe.
So all it came down to was instinct as the lake came into view. Slipping of his shirt to give his gills some air, he dived in, going deep enough so that his two friends wouldn’t see him. They appeared briefly exchanging words he did not hear, then disappeared. Once out of sight he swam to the underwater entrance which was a large hole a few feet under water and same to the cave’s surface.
This was the first in a very long long time that Veran felt anything like this. The painful feeling in his chest, like somebody was ripping it out, slowly, rawly. It was like when he was little again after his father had ordered him to run, the words from before cutting deeper then any knife could do against Veran’s scales. Back when he was little he understood what was going on, but at the same time didn’t understand, he had heard and known about death, but he had never seen it. He knew about love, but didn’t quite remember it until it was gone. He thought he knew loneliness until he truly was alone.
The cave was unhappy, it was ugly and cold, but it was safe, safe and alone. It was roughly the same as it was all those years ago, though the markings he had made were more or less gone now. This was the place that kept the bullies from him, this was the place that he hid from the attackers, this was were he first met Misha and Sidon still covered in blood and filth, starving. Veran had been back a few times after being taken in by the Zora’s Royal Family, but had not given this place much thought in the last decade or so.
It was weird, to say the least, that he was back in this cave, sitting in the same place as when he was young, hugging his knees to his chest. When all was quiet around him, he let out a choked sob. What a fool I was, he thought as Ayfara’s confession replayed in his head. Of course he would have no feelings towards me. What a fool I was. Cursing himself silently, Veran rested his forehead against his knees and allowed the tears to fall, mingling with the drips of water that came from the ceiling.
That same ceiling gave off a luminous blue color, giving off enough light to allow the cave to be seen fully. This same lighting reflected off Veran’s scales giving him an illusion of youth. That’s what Fawkes thought as he did a double take when he first entered the cavern, ignoring the heavy, uncomfortable feeling that his feathers had from the water that seeped into them.
Veran had briefly mentioned this place back when they were making camp, Fawkes barely notice the opening until Ayfara had seen it while running around the proximities. She was right behind him, her eyes full of worry.
Neither of them knew exactly what to do, but Ayfara took the lead. “Stay here” she began, placing a firm hand on his chest. “I’ll speak to him.”
She started towards Veran, her footsteps echoing in the water. Kneeling before him, Ayfara cautiously reached out to him as if he would run in fears. “Veran?”
His name hung low between them, the emptiness of the cave carrying it no farther. Veran looked up and Ayfara felt regret swell up in her heart. “Veran, I am so sorry. I should have-”
“Don’t worry about it.” Ayfara looked at him, surprised. Veran smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I’m just glad you’re happy, that’s all that matters.”
Ayfara shook her head. “Your happiness is just as important as ours. I should have told you my newfound feelings for Fawkes a long time ago. I mean you told me, why shouldn’t I do the same?”
Her hand rests on his and Veran can feel the remorse in her grasp. With her gaze still down, he places his other hand over hers gaining her attention. “It’s okay, Ayfara. It was bound to happen, I shouldn’t have applied that unnecessary pressure on you.” There was a moment of silence before Ayfara suddenly pulled him into a hug. Vera held stiff before relaxing and wrapping his own arms around her.
“Though if you guys don’t mind,” Veran’s voice finally echoed in the cave, Fawkes finally hearing their words. “I kind of want to go back home and skip the next adventure. Today has been... exhausting and I just need some time to gather myself.”
Ayfara nodded, still hugging him. “Of course! Fawkes and I will be fine, besides it’s nothing major so you won’t miss much.”
Fawkes and Veran’s eyes meet. With and encouraging smile, Fawkes gave his friends a thumbs up.
Veran hugged Ayfara tighter and returned the gesture to Fawkes. “Thanks.”
I am here for sad Bim.
(Why do yall want plant boy to suffer??)It's almost time for his segment.His heart's pounding in his chest, asking for an exit and his palms are wet with sweat. His teeth are biting into his lip so hard, he's afraid they'll draw blood and he's breathing shallowly from his nose.This is Bim's first time hosting his own show and he swears he's gotten over his anxiety, swears that this is what he wants but.His doubts eat away at him. What if his voicee cracks? What if the audience thinks he's annoying and boo him off? What if he does something embarrassing on air? His stomach twists at the thought and his suit feels too tight, too hot.Bim doesn't want to do this anymore. He thought he did, but the panic coiling in his chest like a snake says otherwise. He wants to run, get as far away from the studio as possible and has his legs tense in preparation to do just that when he feels a hand land on his shoulder. He startles, badly, glasses now askew and hand tightly clutching at his chest."Now, now, don't be nervous", says Wilford, voice light. "I'm- I, uh", Bim stutters, unable to settle himself enough to form a coherent sentence.Wilford chuckles, straightens his shoulders and dusts off the nonexistent dust from his suit. He fixes his glasses back into shape. "Remember, reality bends at your will, not you at its, and nobody will notice a little warping of physics", Wilford hums as he pushes him into position. He gives Bim a last pat on the head before wandering back out to whence he came. There are still nerves crawling around his system, but Wilford's advice is oddly helpful.
charmed-redemption
Rico stood in his home finally unpacked ready to start what he hopes was a new and regular day which was something he hadn’t had since he ascended to his full power. Looking up he heard a sound he wasn’t expecting his phone was going off letting him know that it was time to leave for his morning run.  Mystic falls were a town with a beautiful name yet a dark reputation making this movie all the more interesting. It was his senior year and the Prince of Kemet found himself in a new town all alone. The prince put on a pair of short shorts and a tank top and head out knowing that soon he would need to be at school and start his new life knowing no one. The thoughts clouded his mind making him move more quickly and his power leading him little did he know he would come across a person in need. The sun was beginning to rise set and the moon leaving the sky making things hard to see yet he clearly says someone bent over seeming to be bled. His mind was filled with the screams as he looked and forced him to speak.
“ Vengeance of the furies rise, course from hell through night skies. Come to he who calls you near .. come to me and settle here!”
The witch spoke and for a moment his eyes glowed a bright blue as his ancient power took hold bringing the voicees of the furies from the past in the form of smoke which tore at the creature who he soon realized was a vampire ripping at its throat before finally killing him completely leaving nothing but ash. Though he was a prince he felt like the worst witch having done magic in public but saving a life is more importanttt than keeping magic a secret. Finding a healing grass along with rosemary he squeezed it together to make a salve applying it to the wounds around the neck to help it heal.  Rico knew that someone would soon be there to help but he should leave before anyone saw him little did he know someone already head. Standing he began to move again his ass cheek peeking through the bottom of the shorts heading for the schools to run around the track before school started
Tyler heard about the new kid, and he was obviously intrigued. For starters, he was growing bored of the girls and guys in Mystic Falls already, so a new fresh face could suffice. Second, he heard that the new kid wasn’t... well, he didn’t know for sure, but Bonnie told him he was special.
And then he saw it. He saw what the kid did to the vampire. For a quarter of a second, he was scared, but then it hit him. He was revering this kid’s powers. That was, until he saw the butt cheek peeking out. He didn’t know if this was intentional or anything, but he just smirked, enjoying the view. He intended to enjoy it silently, until he stepped on a dried leaf, making it crunch. “Shit.”
An Interview with Stephen Hurley
Stephen Hurley is one of the reasons why I love Twitter and the concept of creating a Personal Learning Network.  I’ve learned so much from him, I’ve driven by his community so many times, and yet we’ve never met face to face.  Yet, I feel like I know him so well.
Stephen is an educator, creator, and above all a thinker whose work and efforts have really pushed my thinking for so long.  For that, I’m so grateful.
Doug:  We’ve certainly never met face to face but we’ve been connected for so long.  Do you recall when our paths first crossed online?
Stephen: It has seemed like close to forever! I believe that we first encountered each other virtually when I began my journey into Internet broadcasting through #ds106radio. That would have been after the very first Unplugged gathering that Rodd Lucier et al convened at the Northern Edge of Algonquin Park. That event led me to Andy Forgrave and so many others.
Doug: One of the areas where you’ve pushed me is in using more than blogs and text has been in the area of multimedia, specifically audio. This certainly has ties to your years in the classroom. Can you share a bit of your background?
Stephen: You know how to get me talking! I realized that I wanted a career in radio when I was in grade 4. It was the mid-60’s, just after the release of the Hall-Dennis Report here in Ontario. Things were changing. I was in an open concept classroom that year and the teacher recognized something about me that led her to hand me a microphone and cassette tape recorder. I recall being allowed to sit in an area of the classroom for hours at a time (well, it seemed like hours) creating my own “broadcasts”. My bedroom at home became my studio. Radio Shack eventually became a second church and I spent years nurturing an appreciation for the sound of the human voice (not just my own). In high school, I listened to talk radio, applied to become a summer reporter with CFRB and wanted desperately to go to Ryerson for Radio and Television Arts (I still long to enrol in that program). At the time, Ryerson was a Polytechnic Institute, and my parents wouldn’t have anything to do with the idea. This, of course, made my passion for this stuff even stronger.
When I finally began a career in education, the love of audio continued to influence how I taught, and how I spent my time preparing for lessons. I used to spend hours during the year and entire days during the summer months at our District AV/Tech facility, looking for multi-media resources, using their technology to create my own resources and imagining how sound, music and video could be combined to create powerful learning experiences. My assignments and projects would always include a multi-media option and I was always excited when students got excited about exploring the tools and technology available to them for creation.
My love and appreciation for media and, in particular, radio has only become stronger and I’m excited that, today, students and teachers have so many more ways to bring a sense of voice to their work!
Doug: You’re very active with the Canadian Education Association. Can you give us an example of some of the things that you contribute there?
Stephen: I encountered the CEA for the first time when I attended one of their annual symposia in Montreal back at the turn of the century. I knew immediately that this was an organization that I wanted to work with at some point in my career, but it wasn’t until a few years later that the opportunity presented itself. I started blogging for Edutopia in 2008 and it was through that work that Max Cooke, communication director for the CEA got in touch with me to do some writing for their magazine, Education Canada. I took that as an opportunity to reconnect with the organization and submitted a proposal to begin a series of podcasts under the banner, Teaching Out Loud. The idea was to raise the voices and stories of educators right across the country. Well, one thing led to another, and I soon found myself working with the CEA on some fairly robust research and facilitation pieces, including Teaching the Way You Aspire to Teach; The Challenge to Change and, most recently, the EdCan Network Regional Exchanges. Each of these projects has allowed me to move across the country and talk to education shareholders at various levels, listening to their aspirational stories and, in a very real sense, help the organization keep its ear to the ground across the country.
Doug: What prompted you to take the leap into voiceEd Radio?
Stephen: Leap is the right word to use. It’s a great description for most things that I do. Sometimes I make it across the moat, and sometimes I don’t! Back in December, I was reading The Age of Discovery by Chris Kutarna. It’s all about how we’re living in a period of Renaissance and there was one line, in particular, that caught my attention and imagination. It had to do with the idea that, in a period of renaissance, the lines between creator and consumer are blurred. Internet radio is one way that the lines between listener and broadcaster have been blurred.
I thought of my foray into the world of Internet Radio a few years ago with #ds106radio. Something clicked and I quickly began to connect some possibilities.
5 years ago, I started voicEd.ca—a multi-author blogspace dedicated to deepening and broadening some of the conversations that we have about education. It wasn’t a great leap to begin to imagine how that writing space could be transformed by the addition of a radio space.
Within 24 hours, I found myself owning a radio station!
Doug: I was pleased when you asked me to do a regular bit on there and talk about some of the blog posts that I feature on my regular Friday “This Week in Ontario Edublogs”. What made you think of inviting me?
Stephen: That was easy! I had been reading your This Week in Ontario Edublogs feature for a long time and, as I tried to imagine the type of content that we could bring to life on voicEd Radio, you were one of the first people that came to mind. Why couldn’t we use the radio to deepen the story around your featured blogs, their impact and the people behind them. We’ve never met face-to-face, but the weekly conversation make it seem like we’ve known each other for a long time.
Doug: I recall my first attempt at getting connected; I needed to really think about the gear on my end. I had the wrong browser, a microphone that didn’t give the results that you wanted, a reminder to close the door and keep external noises out, and so more including turning the fan off on hot summer days. Now that we have a routine, it’s pretty simple. Just the correct browser and my noise cancelling headphones and I’m good to go. But, things are far more sophisticated on your end. Can you share what’s in your studio to make it work?
Stephen: I broadcast from “the cave” in Milton and it is pretty simple. I have an iMac computer with a 27” screen. That gives me enough visual real estate to keep everything in front of me from a software perpsective.
I also have a PreSonus Firepod that allows me to plug in up to 8 mics. This connects to a simple piece of software called NiceCast. That drives the live broadcasts.
In terms of gathering guests in the room, I use Zencastr as a type of virtual “kitchen table”.
In the next couple of weeks, I’m going to integrate my electronic music software into the mix in order to create some original intro and outro music for broadcasts.
I’m just starting to gather the resources to allow voicEd Radio to head out on the road. At the beginning of November, we’ll be broadcasting live from 3 separate events, and we’re pretty excited about that!
Doug: The results certainly are very professional and I enjoy digging into the archived programs available on the voiceEd site. As I write this, I’m listening to your interview with Paul McGuire. We’ve chatted and you indicate that this is a personal project of yours. All of the setup is totally funded by you?
Stephen: voicEd Radio is a non-commerical/non-monetized project. Currently, it’s completely self-funded. I’m spending the first year playing with concepts and ideas in an effort to create a sense of value in the community. After our first year anniversary, I will begin looking for alternative structures, some funding models and some governance structures that work for us.
I’m actually looking for folks that might have some interest in helping me imagine how BlockChain technology might allow us to create a different metaphor for funding and value.
Doug: So, it’s a project that’s just gone wild! I do recall a conversation that we had once about the music on voiceEd. Many, including me, might guess that you just take license with YouTube but you go the whole distance with licensing. Can you tell us how and why it’s so important to you?
Stephen: I believe in attribution, but I also believe in making sure that I’m contributing to the livelihood of those artists whose work we use. My work on the Board of Directors for Access Copyright has attuned me to some of the copyright issues that are “out there” in the content ecosystem. It’s very important to me that I’m respecting those conversations, as well as the laws currently in place.
From the very start, we’ve had a non-interactive music license with SOCAN. Under our license, 80% of our station content can be music. We play very little music, with the exception of the work of some education-related singer/songwriters. But we also use music clips for intros and outros.
I’m not sure whether we’re in full compliance, but I’m working to explore with SOCAN what all of this means for us and our podcasters/broadcasters.
Doug: Recently, in looking for new blog posts, I fell into the blog area on voiceEd Radio and recognized some of the names there and found a few new names. What does it take to become a voiceEd Radio blogger?
Stephen: Simply a desire to share your thoughts and ideas in a respectful way. Currently we have contributions from some of our radio personalities, and some folks who would just like to write. I’m working on nurturing the blogging side of things in the months to come.
Doug: You even now have a Community Manager. Can you tell us about her and what her duties are?
Stephen: So, Sarah Lalonde is in the second year of her teacher preparation program at the University of Ottawa. She has been involved with voicEd Radio right from the start and has been instrumental in supporting its development.
Sarah has enthusiastically agreed to be our Community Manager. Sarah has embraced our social media presence, creating promotional materials for a variety of platforms, ensuring that social media announcements are up-to-date and helping me program the live stream each day. She is also a great sounding board for some of the crazy ideas that I sometimes have!
But Sarah is also a wonderful contributor to the voicEd community. She hosts her own podcast, is an active participant in others and is a great advocate for voicEd Radio.
Doug: voiceEd Radio continues to grow and you’ve given us an indication that it will expand again in November. What should be on our radar?
Stephen: As I’m writing this, we have so many exciting projects coming on to voicEd Radio. We have a 4-week series coming up with writer Ann Douglas, a six-week series with an Australian-born parent, Lois Letchford. We’re working with the Ontario Ministry of Education to launch season two of our mathematics exploration with Cathy Fosnot. Nancy Angevine-Sands is coming on to do some work on Parent Engagement and, in November, we’re launching the voicEd Radio Mobile—live broadcasting from events around the province and, eventually, around the world.
But those initiatives don’t tell the whole story. What started as a personal project has turned into a community and voicEd Radio is taking on a life of its own. It’s quickly becoming the open-space environment that I hoped it would become. And, as that happens, my name will fade a little more into the background and others will begin to emerge!
Doug: I am excited that we will actually meet. Plans are for us to do an episode of This Week in Ontario Edublogs live at the Minds on Media event at the Bring IT, Together Conference. It’s one thing to use your home studio but how will you take all this “on the road:?
Stephen: So, we’re looking to use the sound facilities already in place at conferences in events. A small USB interface will allow us to take sound right from the mixing board and feed it into a laptop computer. Then, hopefully, we have a live broadcast. I’m excited to explore, take some video of the process and share that with others.
My dream is to create a cadre of people across the country who would be available to do similar things at events in their areas. If I’m able to get some funding for this, we’ll be able to provide some of that equipment for people.
Doug: Recently, you had a Radio-a-thon at Voiced Radio. What was the inspiration for this? How did it go?
Stephen: Ah, 15 hours straight of live radio. What could be better? This was one of those ideas that came up in conversation over the summer. Several of us were thinking about back-to-school and how we might leverage the excitement of this time of the year to gain some traction for voicEd Radio. We actually had to expand our original plan for 12 hours as the requests to participate kept coming in! So, we began at 9:00 am and held the stream for 15 straight hours. It really solidified the community feel for this place, and we look forward to having more of these events in the future.
Doug: Even though you’ve left formal education, family life keeps you well grounded in the day to day education routine. Here’s a chance to brag about your family that you bring into our show regularly.
Stephen: It is a real gift for me to remain connected to the education system through my two boys, Luke and Liam. They are so different in the way that they approach the world that they’re allowing me to see their school experience from two totally different perspectives. Liam has a really vivid imagination and plans each and every day in his head before it even begins. Luke, on the other hand, is a puzzler—he loves codes, puzzles, intellectual challenges and the like. Both of the boys push the capacity of the system in different ways and it has been interesting to watch them grow from children into students. My wife, Zoe, is a middle school visual arts teacher and allows me to stay connected with the day-to-day life a practicing teacher. I love to think at the 30 000 foot level. My family keeps me close to the ground for at least a few hours a day.
Doug: Do you see a time where voiceEd radio gets too big for you and your Community Manager to manage? What happens then?
Stephen: That’s already started to happen. So, I’m starting to rely more on the community to offer ideas, advice and support. We’re just about to launch a request for voicEd Radio folks to contribute to a series of online tutorials under the “PodCamp” banner. We want to be able to gather together to support people that may want to become part of our radio team, but may be reluctant. Technical support, interviewing skills, bringing ideas to life, etc—these will all be part of what we hope will be a dynamic and vivid set of resources!
I’m also on the lookout for an effective way to grow the infrastructure, so that it continues to draw educators, parents, researchers and community members to this space. Lots of work to do, and lots of thinking to do. But I believe that we’re off to a great start!
Doug: Thank you so much for taking the time to share these details with folks, Stephen. I really appreciate it and I hope that people take the time to listen and perhaps even get involved with voiceEd Radio.
Stephen: I appreciate the opportunity to think out loud about all of this. I would encourage people who want to know more, or who have specific ideas about how they might become involved to reach out. Our tagline at voicEd Radio is: Your voice is RIGHT here!
