I decided to make a HH AU cause...y'know....anyway.... now introducing
Reset Resort! A Hotelier Vox AU
- you already know, it's a hotel Vox AU.....but not quite what you're thinking. Kind of a swap between Alastor and Vox, it focuses on the butterfly effects of this single change, rather than a full reversal.
- Most things are kinda(?) the same. Except the hotel is not as run-down and quite more successful. As if S1’s hotel started with S2's reputation and building. It's also more modern/sleek and closer to your typical strip hotel. Much more busy with additional residents coming in and out. Think Vegas-style. It has way too many amenities than necessary, and it's actually an enjoyable place to hang out , but the message for "redemption" might be a bit....lost.
- It’s supposed to be a place where Sinners can (lightly) indulge in their vices without risk of falling into a soul-binding deal on their road to recovery.
- In this AU, movement between Sinners/Winners has been proven. NOT redemption yet. With this “concrete” evidence, Vox considers it "purely a business investment" to sponsor the hotel.
- Because of this "proof", Heaven has granted Hell/Charlie a grace period of an extra year with no exterminations, so long as they continue to monitor the process and Hell provides further progress and evidence of redemption.
Vox is there for the start up of the hotel with Charlie. He sponsors her project with his reach and expertise. His personality is much more subdued, his TV persona taking center stage, except for rare occasions. His temper is not as bad as in-canon. AKA, he’s much more fake and corny in this AU.
Charlie is slightly more mature and realistic in this AU. She studies redemption seriously and notes behavioral patterns/is much more patient and careful with the process. With Vox being extremely efficient and taking over the managerial/facility side of the resort, she is able to dedicate her time fully towards the redemption of sinners and being a therapist. She is still overzealous sometimes because she knows that if nobody else will show enthusiasm/push sinners to do better, then nobody will.
- Vox tried to manipulate Charlie very early on when they first met, and Charlie ended up realizing his kindness was just for his own benefit and has been wary of that fact ever since.
- Their relationship is like: she knows he’s reliable and will do everything she asks, but is doubtful/sad that he’s ingenuine. Vox thinks Charlie looks at him with pity and absolutely HATES it, but he still plays carefully so he can do a repeat and build up her trust again. Doesn't like Vaggie for a similar reason. They just think he's another misguided sinner in need. Neither have fully grasped the idea that most Sinners chose to do-evil(which he certainly has).
- Vox holds a contract with Lucifer. What for? Well... let's say that they're on good terms and are friends. They meet with each other once a week (where Lucifer gets social interaction and updates on Charlie).
I already have sketches for Alastor and Vaggie planned out in this AU~
It's less of a full "reversal" and more so one swap and the butterfly effect that follows. This AU has been my brainchild for a few weeks, so PLEASEEE I'd love to answer any questions or asks....
My AU tag is #au: reset resort
All information can be found under there! Until I make a masterpost or something.
Old design under the cut:

you are the coolest blog on this app i fear...!! new follower who just binged all your alastor fics & am curious if u have any thoughts on alastor (aand maybe giving his soul to reader? ive read so many hh fics where the reader signs contract/gives their soul to them but never the reverse… i think itd be very romantic maybe !!
helloo!! thank you and so sorry for getting to this late... my inbox has been busy lately (and i love it! 🫶)
yk what i think would be more romantic? alastor and reader selling each other their souls. almost like a marriage contract but you know... more Hellish hehe
alastor wouldn't give his soul to just anyone so you have to be very very important to him or his life would have to be on the line. maybe after a huge blowout or fight or something you'd give each other your souls as a kind of messed up devotion? i think that'd be pretty romantic considering they're demons 🙅♀️
alternatively, it's a contract purely for tax collecting purposes and benefits lol

Fauci Still Enjoys Taxpayer-Funded Private Chauffeur, Security Detail
Unelected bureaucrat Dr. Anthony Fauci, now a private citizen, is still enjoying an extravagant lifestyle courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.
Since January 2023, one month after he left the federal government, $15 million in tax dollars have been spent on security services for Fauci, including a fully staffed U.S. Marshals security detail, according to an OpenTheBooks.com investigation.
Through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, OpenTheBooks.com uncovered an "unprecedented" arrangement — officially termed a "memorandum of understanding" — between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Marshals Service that "sets forth the understanding of the obligations and goals [...] relating to protective services for Dr. Anthony Fauci" prior to and after his retirement from federal service.
The taxpayer-funded security package covers salaries and benefits, including overtime pay, for the U.S. Marshals guarding Fauci, a private chauffeur to haul him around in a limousine, and law enforcement equipment, among other expenses.
The multi-million-dollar agreement, which was set to end in September 2024, said the contract could be extended, but it's unknown if it has been. OpenTheBooks.com asked the U.S. Marshals Service for clarification, and they have yet to respond.
The Fauci-related costs come as the agency is struggling to meet the demands of its duties, especially defending current government employees, due to budget constraints.

Some fans think that Harry is going to have a stunt baby because of all the mentions in the articles about him wanting kids. Do you think they'd go that far? I really hope not but he was talking about kids during HH promo and now all the articles saying that he wanted to start a family with Taylor and that he is ready to settle down in his 30s and find the one and have kids. For how long will he get away with this, saying he wants kids but continuing to be linked to tons of women? I agree with what you said about how his future beards will probably be 1 year+ contracts to make it look like he is serious about settling down. So he is 30 now. As he gets older people are going to question him more. I really hope he can CO in the next few years.
Hi, anon!
It's always wise to look at options like this by which purpose it serves. What purpose would it serve to give H a stunt kid?
Harry's image is curated to make him look desirable and available. He's stunting for two reasons, to get attention (he gets papped more and gets more attention when he's publicly in a relationship than when he's not) and to have a beard to make him look straight. His stunts usually serves both purposes, but the PR aspect shouldn't be underestimated.
Constantly having a new relationship will give you loads of PR, but since he's hit 30 fans will expect longer relationship and less flings. Longer relationship is harder to use for PR, unless it's a very public and stunt heavy relationship with a fellow celebrity. Fans will tire of it after awhile and the PR effect is gone. Stunt heavy relationship are also taxing on H.
About a stunt kid, do you mean a kid that's not biologically his? That he pretends to raise and stunts with? Who is the real parents? Who is the mother that H is raising the kid with? Are they together or not? I think that would be very difficult to do, because he could end up in a similar situation to Louis. Be an absent father who is constantly working and touring, who hardly ever sees his child.
Would a child benefit his career? No, it would age him up further and make him seem less desirable and available to his target fans. It would be a nail in the coffin for the one's who wants to marry him. Unless they want to be a step mom, which i doubt a 18 year old wants. Would a child help closet him? Yes, if he wants a more permanent solution to keep a straight image, rather than having multiple gfs, it would be an option. It could prove hard to get out of though, and i don't think he could continue having an androgynous image and act gay on stage. He'd be accused of queerbaiting (don't even bother bi/pan defenders, i'm just stating what would happen). I don't think a kid would be a good idea if he wants to (has to) continue to prioritise his career. So i don't think it has a purpose that will makes things easier for Harry and advance his career. Quite the opposite.
I really hope he's allowed to come out in the next few years too. It will get harder and harder for him to get PR from stunting, unless it's a dramatic one again, and the effect will wear off. We'll have to see how they spin the narrative next.

I agree that her writing is hack. However, I think it’s a little unfair to say Vivziepop’s silence was “convenient” due to contracts and whatever deals had to be made even before the strike. I could be wrong but, she kind of strikes me as the kind that accidentally spoils stuff when they talk about things with passion, of which HH definitely is.
The merch was likely to keep interest afloat in the original show while HB did its thing. It’s not like she did absolutely nothing with HH either, though I think she should have done more in that lead up with Charlie or Vaggie instead of Angel… twice.
I mean she was allowed to make that music video...and that comic...and redesigns...and make Hazbin Hotel merch to support her other projects (I think there's a line between keeping interest and just deliberately making money off of a project you know you won't be able to do anything with for years and Hazbin crossed that way too long ago)...but like any info regarding why the announcement for release got changed posted to Twitter? Or like, some non canon project that wasn't a 40 dollar print of a gay spiders asshole? Nah that breaks the NDA
Im not giving dipshit McGee the benefit of the doubt here I think everyone got grifted for overpriced Angel Dust stands for two years because Vivzie knew y'all would buy them even with a combined 10 minutes of content for the character.

When he retired, Fauci had made $710 million in royalties from Big Pharma (including mRNA) — a fact he tried to hide (also the media).

It wasn’t enough for Fauci, the 21st century Dr. Mengele, father of COVID, lockdowns and the lethal haccines.
Now taxpayers keep paying millions for his bodyguards to protect him from the very taxpayers he culled.
Supreme irony, huh! What could happen if Trump defunds his protection? Ideas?
For the past two years, Dr. Anthony Fauci has received $15,000,000 in taxpayer-funded security services – despite having returned to private citizenship. Open the Books discovered the arrangement within a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. Marshals service and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) via a Freedom of Information Act request.
Up until at least late September, this agreement between the two government agencies has left the American taxpayer on the hook for the costs attached to Dr. Fauci’s lifestyle, which included a publicly-funded chauffeur and a fully staffed U.S. Marshals security detail. The $15 million does not include the costs associated with his personal security from April 2020 to December 2022, which was handled by the same parties while he was still serving in government.
Fauci’s security has been a topic of discussion on cable news and in the halls of Congress, but until now, the details of the secret agreement had not been made public.
According to the MOU, protection was available from January 4, 2023-September 20, 2024. The $15 million covers in part:
Salaries and benefits for deputies and administrative personnel assigned to Fauci’s protective detail
Costs related to transporting Fauci
Law enforcement equipment
The MOU states that the contract could be extended, and it is unknown if it has been. We asked the Marshals Service for clarification, and they did not get back to us within our deadline. We will provide an update if they respond.
The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), who retired in December of 2022, was one of the most influential figures in America and throughout the world during the coronavirus era. Nearly ubiquitous on cable and broadcast news, Fauci became the face of America’s pandemic response. His supporters often spoke of him as a man of uncontested knowledge, consistently labeling him the world’s foremost “public health expert.”

FTC Investigates Drug Supply Chain: Focus on Middlemen Amid Generic Drug Shortages
Federal Trade Commission and HHS Seek Solutions for Ongoing Drug Shortages
In response to the persistent shortages of generic drugs affecting Americans’ access to crucial medications, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced an examination of the roles played by drug wholesalers and companies purchasing medicines for U.S. healthcare providers. Generic drugs constitute the majority of prescriptions in the United States, and the shortages have led to the rationing of drugs by hospitals and forced patients to grapple with limited access to essential medications.
Uncovering Root Causes: Biden Administration Targets Drug Supply Chain Players
Over the past year, issues ranging from manufacturing quality control to surges in demand have contributed to a shortage of vital medicines, including injectable cancer therapies and generic versions of brand-name drugs. The Biden administration, recognizing the urgency of the situation, is now turning its attention to other players in the drug supply chain. The goal is to identify the root causes of ongoing shortages and explore potential solutions.
FTC and HHS Seek Public Input on Middlemen Practices
In a joint request for information, the FTC and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are soliciting public comments on the contracting practices, market concentration, and compensation of two key middlemen in the drug supply chain: group purchasing organizations and drug wholesalers. Group purchasing organizations act as intermediaries, negotiating drug purchases for healthcare providers, while drug wholesalers purchase medicines from manufacturers and distribute them to providers.
The inquiry aims to determine if these middlemen have abused their market power, leading to reduced prices for generic drugs that make it unprofitable for manufacturers to continue production. Such practices may also discourage competition among rival suppliers in the generic drug market, contributing to the ongoing shortages.
Transparency and Public Participation: FTC and HHS Call for Comments
While the FTC and HHS have not named specific companies, major group purchasing organizations for hospitals include Vizient, Premier, and HealthTrust. Meanwhile, Cencora, Cardinal Health, and McKesson account for approximately 90% of prescription drug distribution in the U.S. The public is invited to share their insights and experiences over the next 60 days through submissions on Regulations.gov.
Despite being a critical aspect of the drug supply chain, group purchasing organizations and wholesalers have received limited attention on Capitol Hill. As lawmakers prioritize addressing high drug costs, this investigation seeks to shed light on potential factors contributing to the ongoing challenges in the generic drug market. The pharmaceutical industry’s complex dynamics, including the role of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), are also under scrutiny as stakeholders work towards enhancing transparency and reducing the overall cost of medications.

Minal Patel Sentenced to 27 Years - Genetic Testing Scheme
Lab Owner, Minal Patel, Sentenced for $463 Million Genetic Testing Scheme (STL.News) A Georgia man, Minal Patel, was sentenced to 27 years in prison for his role in a scheme to defraud Medicare by submitting over $463 million in genetic and other laboratory tests that patients did not need and that were procured through the payment of kickbacks and bribes. According to court documents, Minal Patel, 44, of Atlanta, owned LabSolutions LLC (LabSolutions), a lab enrolled with Medicare that performed sophisticated genetic tests. Patel conspired with patient brokers, telemedicine companies, and call centers to target Medicare beneficiaries with telemarketing calls falsely stating that Medicare covered expensive cancer genetic tests. After the Medicare beneficiaries agreed to take a test, Patel paid kickbacks and bribes to patient brokers to obtain signed doctors' orders authorizing the tests from telemedicine companies. To conceal the kickbacks and bribes, Patel required patient brokers to sign sham contracts that falsely stated that the brokers were performing legitimate advertising services for LabSolutions, when, as Patel well knew, the brokers were deceptively marketing to Medicare beneficiaries and paying kickbacks and bribes to telemedicine companies for genetic testing prescriptions. "In one of the largest genetic testing fraud cases ever tried to verdict, today's sentence makes clear that the Department will seek justice for those who put profits above patient care, including owners and executives," said Acting Assistant Attorney General Nicole M. Argentieri of the Justice Department's Criminal Division. "The sentence also demonstrates the Criminal Division's ongoing commitment to fighting telemedicine and genetic testing fraud that exploits patients and drains health care benefit programs." Patel knew the telemedicine doctors' robo-signed prescriptions for expensive genetic testing even though they were not treating the beneficiaries, often did not even speak with them, and made no evaluation of medical necessity. From July 2016 through August 2019, LabSolutions submitted more than $463 million in claims to Medicare, including for thousands of medically unnecessary genetic tests, of which Medicare paid over $187 million. In that timeframe, Patel personally received over $21 million from Medicare in connection with the fraud. "Deception, kickbacks, and bribes have no place in the provision of legitimate genetic testing and telemedicine services to patients who need them," said Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey B. Veltri of the FBI Miami Field Office. "Patel bilked hundreds of millions of dollars from Medicare through a complex testing fraud scheme. He is now paying the price for this crime. The FBI commends the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG) for their close partnership and diligence in working this joint investigation. Our message to those who commit Medicare fraud and steal from U.S. taxpayers is clear: you will be caught, and you will be held accountable." "This outcome sends a strong message that HHS-OIG will not tolerate those who exploit Medicare patients and who pay kickbacks to providers to prescribe medically unnecessary genetic tests, all for illegitimate financial gain," said Acting Special Agent in Charge Julie Rivera of the HHS-OIG. "Our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the Medicare program remains unwavering." The FBI and HHS-OIG investigated the case. Trial Attorneys Jamie de Boer, Emily Gurskis, Reginald Cuyler Jr., Katherine Rookard, and Patrick Queenan of the Criminal Division's Fraud Section prosecuted the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marx Calderon for the Southern District of Florida is handling asset forfeiture proceedings. An asset forfeiture hearing is scheduled for Aug. 25. The case was brought as part of Operation Double Helix, a federal law enforcement action led by the Health Care Fraud Strike Force, under the supervision of the Criminal Division's Fraud Section, focused on fraudulent genetic cancer testing that has resulted in charges against dozens of defendants associated with telemedicine companies and cancer genetic testing laboratories for their alleged participation in one of the largest health care fraud schemes ever charged. Report on Morbidity and Mortality Weekly
The Illness and Mortality Weekly Report provides information on how common morbidity and mortality are in the US. It is made available by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
A recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) called Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) reveals racial and ethnic differences in hospitalization rates and influenza vaccination coverage. The study looked at adult hospitalization rates that were adjusted for age from 2009-2010 to 2013-2014, as well as rates for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN), Black, Hispanic, and non-Hispanic White people.
Hospitalization rates among racial and ethnic minority groups during the most recent flu season were higher than those among White people. According to research, the number of illnesses and hospital admissions in the US each year ranges from nine to 41 million. People from racial and ethnic minority groups, however, had greater incidence of serious respiratory disease. Additionally, infection-related death is more common.
In order to compute the rates for this analysis, information from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), a state-based telephone survey that gathers data on health risks and behaviors, was used. This poll also provides an estimate of the influenza vaccination rate. Data from 291,839 complete interviews were used to estimate vaccination coverage.
Hispanic, non-Hispanic Black, and AI/AN individuals saw age-adjusted rates of influenza-related hospitalization that were 2.1 times greater than those of White adults during the 2021–2022 flu season. For AI/AN people and 80% of Black adults, these rates were respectively 30% and 80% higher.
One of the main causes of death and morbidity worldwide is healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). They take place during patient treatment and are mainly avoidable. 2009 saw the introduction of a HAI Prevention Action Plan by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The major steps hospitals can take to accomplish the national HAI prevention targets are outlined in the document.
The safety of patients in the United States is seriously threatened by infections acquired in hospitals. Nearly one million patients in the US contract an infection related to healthcare each year, according to the National Healthcare Safety Network. The cost of this is projected to be $28 to $33 billion yearly, placing a significant financial strain on the healthcare system.
HAIs are a frequent side effect of hospital care, but there has been a lot of success in the fight against them. Today, a large number of groups are attempting to eradicate HAIs. The National Healthcare Safety Network of the CDC offers a safe online surveillance platform for reporting HAIs by healthcare facilities. To understand trends and enhance patient safety, surveillance is essential.
Data has been gathered from around the country to identify trends as a result of the increasing attention on HAIs. The most efficient use of surveillance data is to direct prevention efforts and focus on best practices. The Inpatient Prospective Payment System, which is run by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, heavily weighs HAIs as well.
For health-related news, contact the Morbidity & Mortality Office of the Department of Health and Human Services. A program promoting resource sharing among state-based departments is one of their most recent initiatives. The phloem has a snazzy new online portal among other things to enable improved departmental communication.
As a result, you may have a ton of health-related news to consider. You will be able to benefit from this statewide program whether you work for the state or the federal government. You'll probably brighten up your coworkers' day a little and maybe even have some fun in the process. Hopefully you'll be able to take advantage of this chance to up your health-related news game. You can soon anticipate a more powerful state-based talent hive. Enjoy the health-related news you will undoubtedly discover until then.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but unless the Hyde Amendment is repealed, abortion is one big item/issue that can’t be covered. I know Warren specifically brought up repealing it as part of her healthcare plan, but that (and birth control, which isn’t may not be totally banned but was/is still a fight) is one of the big reasons I don’t want healthcare exclusively from the government—there’s no guarantee conservatives won’t take power again
rizzzzzzzzzzzahhhhmeddddddd
@uncahier That’s a really good point! What happens if Republicans gain the majority and repeal the system, or appoint people that are conservative. I wonder what guarantee would be created. Would it have to be a bipartisan group? How would you ensure that?
The M4A bill says
SEC. 104. NON-DISCRIMINATION.
(a) In General.—No person shall, on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex, including sex stereotyping, gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy and related medical conditions (including termination of pregnancy), be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination by any participating provider as defined in section 301, or any entity conducting, administering, or funding a health program or activity, including contracts of insurance, pursuant to this Act.
and that the benefits covered under the universal Medicare system include
(7) Comprehensive reproductive, maternity, and newborn care.
which to me would include abortion?
I feel like repealing the Hyde Amendment would be one of the associated pieces of legislation, or at least would have to be.
I think the points that you both bring up are ones that tend to get overlooked - I think there’s an assumption that it’s so popular and wide-ranging that people wouldn’t mess with it, or that it’d be so entrenched they couldn’t, and I don’t think either of those things are true.
Especially since, per the M4A bill, it would fall under HHS and the Secretary of HHS, along with the other department officials.
And I would point to the NHS and other countries where conservatives come into power and chip away and make changes and empower corporations - and those aren’t anywhere nearly as centralized and comprehensive as this would be.

Couple of trump-related swamp things that flew under the radar as he distracts us
The skunk smell has been horrible since 2016, and it gets worse. Can it get even more worse? Yep, so long as trump continues his squatter position in the white house. Read on.
COVID-19 data collection and TeleTracking Technologies and trump connections:
First, remember when the CDC was ordered to stop collecting hospital data on COVID-19, and hospitals were directed to send the data to HHS instead. Turns out, the company that was selected to compile the data for HHS has serious trump connections. NPR first reported on the story on July 20, 2020, under the caption, “Irregularities In COVID Reporting Contract Award Process Raise New Questions.” Excerpt:
An NPR investigation has found irregularities in the process by which the Trump administration awarded a multi-million dollar contract to a Pittsburgh company to collect key data about COVID-19 from the country's hospitals.
The contract is at the center of a controversy over the administration's decision to move that data reporting function from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — which has tracked infection information for a range of illnesses for years — to the Department of Health and Human Services.
TeleTracking Technologies, the company that won the contract, has traditionally focused on creating software for hospitals to track patient status. And there are questions about how it came to be responsible for gathering data in the midst of a pandemic.
Among the findings of the NPR investigation:
The Department of Health and Human Services initially characterized the contract with TeleTracking as a no-bid contract. When asked about that, HHS said there was a "coding error" and that the contract was actually competitively bid. HHS has said that six companies bid for the contract but declines to say who they were or release the evaluations that the department would have done before awarding the contract to TeleTracking. But NPR reached out to more than 20 of TeleTracking's competitors in the fields of hospital workflow management and infection control data and was unable to find a single company that said it had bid on this contract. One major company told NPR that it hadn't even heard about the HHS announcement.
The process by which HHS awarded the contract is normally used for innovative scientific research, not the building of government databases. The contract will pay TeleTracking $10.2 million.
HHS had directly phoned the company about the contract, according to a company spokesperson.
TeleTracking CEO Michael Zamagias had links to the New York real estate world — and in particular, a firm that financed billions of dollars in projects with the Trump Organization. Zamagias founded Zamagias Properties, a real estate investment and development company, in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1987.
In addition, Zamagias was a mentor to a guy named Neal Cooper. Cooper’s father, Howard, was the named partner in a Manhattan company called Cooper-Horowitz, one of the largest privately held real estate debt and equity firms in the country. Cooper-Horowitz handles debt and equity in all classes of real estate and specializes in the hospitality industry. And in that vein, it did billions of dollars of work with the Trump Organization on projects like the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago. From the NPR story:
And there are other suggestions of a close relationship between Cooper-Horowitz and the Trumps. Ivanka Trump has attended a rather famous holiday party the company holds in New York every year. The firm has given to the Trump Foundation. And Richard Horowitz, one of the company's principals, is credited with helping connect the Trump Organization with Deutsche Bank, the German bank that has financed over $2 billion in Trump projects over the past two decades.
YRC Trucking Company and the CARES Act and trump connections:
Here’s an excerpt from a New York Times story, under the caption, “Rescue of Troubled Trucking Company With White House Ties Draws Scrutiny.”
Senator Jerry Moran, Republican of Kansas, asked Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin for help. A struggling trucking company in his state was on the brink of collapse and needed government support.
Eager to assist, Mr. Mnuchin assured the senator that “we will look at that specific company and see what we can do and get back to you.”
That company, YRC Worldwide, had lost more than $100 million in 2019 and was being sued by the Justice Department over claims it defrauded the federal government for a seven-year period. But six weeks after the hearing, YRC received a bailout from the Treasury Department — a $700 million loan in exchange for a 30 percent stake in the business. The company’s stock price soared 74 percent, though it has come down since.
The rescue, which was approved on the grounds that YRC was critical to national security, made the company one of the largest recipients of taxpayer money meant to support businesses and workers struggling amid the coronavirus.
It has also raised questions about whether YRC benefited from a web of connections between the company and the White House that allowed it to bypass the Trump administration’s own rules for which companies should be eligible for federal help.
YRC has financial backing from Apollo Global Management, a private equity firm with close ties to Trump administration officials. In 2019, a group of funds managed by affiliates of Apollo lent YRC $600 million. In April, President Trump tapped YRC’s chief executive, Darren Hawkins, to serve on a coronavirus economic task force and in January, he nominated the company’s former chief executive, William Zollars, to the United States Postal Service’s board of governors. [Keep in mind that trump wants to cripple the USPS in advance of the election. The USPS has several people with the USPS who are politically beholden to trump, including this guy.]
The loan has come under scrutiny from the Congressional Oversight Commission, a bipartisan panel created by Congress to police stimulus funds. Last month, the commission opened an inquiry into whether the company, which ships meal kits, protective equipment and other supplies to military bases, was really worthy of a rescue.
YRC’s loan came from a discrete $17 billion pot of money set up by Congress and controlled by Mr. Mnuchin to help companies that were designated as critical to national security. It was the first company to receive a loan from that fund.

This benefit is obvious, but it should not be overlooked, especially as we age and naturally begin to lose muscle. Strength training is also called resistance training because it involves strengthening and toning the muscles by contracting them against a resistance force.
2. Strength training can protects bone health and muscle mass.
Around the age of 30 we start to lose up to 3 to 5% of lean muscle mass per year due to aging. According to a study published in October 2017 in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, only 30 minutes twice a week of high-intensity resistance and impact training have been shown to improve functional performance, as well as bone density, structure and endurance. in postmenopausal women. with low bone mass - and had no negative effects.
The HHS guidelines also note that, for all, muscle building activities contribute to the preservation or enhancement of muscle, mass, and strength, which are essential to the health of bones, joints, and muscles as we age.
3. Strength training helps maintain weight forever.
Aerobic exercise, such as walking, running, and cycling, is well known as a way to help increase the number of calories you burn in a day, and therefore shed extra pounds. But strength training also helps (even if you don't burn a lot of calories during your workout).
Researchers in the science of exercise suspect that strength training is useful for weight loss because it helps you increase your resting metabolism (i.e. the rate at which your body burns calories when you only spend the day without exercising).
"Good endurance training increases excess oxygen consumption after exercise (COPD)," says Pire, referring to the calories your body continues to burn after a workout. ”[Endurance or strengthening exercise] keeps your metabolism active after exercise, much longer than after an aerobic workout. ”
4. Strength training can helps to develop better body mechanics.
Strength training also benefits your balance, coordination and posture. (7) One study showed that in older people who are at higher risk of falling (and causing a lot of damage) due to poor physical function, strength training reduced the risk of falling by 40% compared to people who did not. they did strength training exercises
5. Strength training can help to manage chronic diseases.
Studies have documented the many health benefits of strength training, including helping people with some chronic illnesses manage their conditions. If you have arthritis, strength training can be just as effective as medications in relieving arthritis pain.
6. Strength training boosts energy levels and improves your mood.
Strength training will raise your level of endorphins (natural opiates produced by the brain), which raise energy levels and improve your mood. (11) "All exercise stimulates mood because it increases endorphins," says Pire. But for strength training, additional research that has looked at the neurochemical and neuromuscular responses to such training provides further evidence that it has a positive effect on the brain.
7. Strength training translates into more calories burned.
Strength training helps you stimulate your metabolism (your body at rest burns calories during the day). But weight training or endurance can help you stimulate your calorie burning during and after training. You burn calories during strength training, and your body continues to burn calories after strength training (just like you do after aerobic exercise), a process called "post-exercise excessive oxygen consumption," or COPD, according to the American Exercise Council. (14) When you do resistance, weight or endurance training, your body requires more energy based on the amount of energy you exercise (ie the harder you work, the more energy is needed). This means more calories burned during training and more calories burned after training, while your body recovers in a state of rest.
8. Strength training has cardiovascular benefits.
Along with aerobic exercise, physical activity to strengthen muscles helps improve blood pressure, according to HHS. (2) The Government recommends muscle strengthening activities twice a week plus 150 minutes a week of moderate intensity to reduce hypertension and reduce the risk of heart disease.
Myths about Strength Training
1. Strength training increases the size and I don't want to look bigger.
The strength training plan presented here is not focused on building muscle mass. In these pages, you will not find bodybuilding staples such as heavy bench presses or rows of dumbbells. In fact, you could have a whole strength training session without lifting a single weight. Also keep in mind that you are naturally limited by genetics and body type. If you are a weak runner who has always had difficulty gaining weight, you may not be able to put on a lot of muscle mass even if you want to. The chances of getting bulky accidentally while following a runner's strength training plan are very small.
2. Strength training will make me less flexible
Athletes who have inelastic, overdeveloped muscles are usually described as "muscle bound." They are characterized as rigid and inflexible. This label is often applied to bodybuilders and bodybuilders and is quoted by cautious athletes who avoid strength training because they do not want to become inflexible. This is a myth -
It is simply not true that strength training leads to shortening of tendons and ligaments or loss of their flexibility.
The truth is that an athlete either stretches and is flexible or he is not. Strength training will not dictate flexibility in one way or another. This is certainly true of the program presented here, which, as we have just discussed, is not designed to lead to large increases in muscle mass..
3. I have to go to a gym and use balls and cars
These training modes can certainly be effective, but there are several ways to skin a cat. You don't have to join a gym and use equipment to train. With a minimum amount of equipment, you can do everything you need to do almost anywhere you want to do it.
4. Strength training will take too long
When I give presentations about strength training for large groups of runners, do I start by asking how many people have suffered a running injury in the previous year? A forest of hands rises. Then I ask, how many injuries involved a layoff of at least a week? Most hands stay up. One month? Many hands remain in the air. Three months or more? Some hands are still raised. Then I ask this question: If you could have avoided the injury by spending only 15-20 minutes, 2-3 times a week, working hard in your own home, would you have been willing to do it?
5. Muscle turns into fat if you stop lifting weights
This is a persistent misconception supported by many examples of former weightlifters who gained weight after they stopped training. But this conclusion errs in coincidence with causality. Muscle cannot turn into fat than lead can turn into gold. There are different types of tissues. But if you tend to eat more to support the extra calorie burning that strength training offers and then fail to call back when you stop strength training, those extra calories will be stored as fat, not because you stopped. strength training, but because you take in more calories than you consume.
6. Strength training is not for women
Obviously, this myth only applies to half the population and, fortunately, it is a myth that is quickly fading. Not long ago, women were considered physically unable to compete in long-distance running and that strength training was considered "insensitive".
Today, this view has been largely replaced by the acceptance and encouragement of women's participation in sports, largely driven by the adoption in 1972 of federal legislation prohibiting sex discrimination in any higher education program receiving federal financial assistance, known colloquially. However, for that minority of people who still believe that sweating, muttering and pushing for athletic excellence is only suitable for men, just take a quick look at the women who participate in professional sports teams, the women's Olympic achievements. And to their success in road racing, to become convinced that there is nothing unnatural in the fight for athletic excellence.
