Just when I thought I was moving on to my next fixation with the fish man of Pressure, this fandom comes back and gets me back in.

Anyway, onto the drawing, this is Brick, he’s from the Horrorfell Au, this specific variation is from a story in Ao3 titled “Tangles” this drawing is just one of the multiple ones on a character sheet I’m working on (yes another one, idk how I’m working on so many characters sheets lately but I ain’t complaining lol) and it’s actually from a scene in the story. (This is just a test of colors btw, the final one in the ref sheet might look different)

don't imagine going shopping with Steel, doing a silly fashion show and finding cool outfits for each other. he's more than willing to ham it up for the both of you, showing off and strutting no matter what you put him in. he loves spending quality time with you like this-- and especially making you laugh with his antics

don't imagine a cosy night in with Mako, draped over him on the couch under a warm blanket while you snack on something and watch movies late into the night. he's asleep for long stretches of each movie, but his cute little nuzzles and purrs when he wakes up with you in his arms is just too sweet. he doesn't get to relax and be vulnerable often, and relishes these quiet moments with you

I know you said nothing could really fix Brick's cracked vertebrae and the disturbed magic there, does that mean healing magic can't be used to fix it? Or because in Horrorfell, healing magic is kinda almost nonexistent because those monsters have dusted?

No, healing magic can't fix it either. Maybe if it had been healed right away, before the injury set, it could've reduced some of the damage, but as it stands the most healing magic could do for him now would be to ease some pain, if and when it flares up.

A little bit like treating a lost finger with an ice pack--might've been more helpful to have that ice on it when the finger could still be reattached, but it's still kind of soothing on the ache even now, and the intent in the gesture (presumably a loved one trying to help you feel better) makes it sweeter~

Favorite fall/chilly weather drink?

Rus - hot chocolate! Especially with lots of marshmallows. Might also really like white chocolate hot chocolate, but he doesn't like it with peppermint flavoring, or really any other flavoring besides maybe caramel.

Edge - spiced lattes. Whether it's nutmeg, cinnamon, "pumpkin spice", "spiced cider", whatever, as long as it's not too sweet too, he prefers his fall beverages with a shot of espresso lol

Stretch - mulled cider 1000%, he loves it soo much. Especially when they put a stick of cinnamon in as garnish? Forget about it.

Void - mulled cider black tea typically, but honestly any spiced tea is usually good with him. He doesn't usually add anything, but on the rare occasion he'll put a little honey in.

Cire (lovefell Sans) - dark hot chocolate with cayenne pepper. Him and his brother both love the stuff, and Lace's recipe is his favorite. The really thick, rich flavored kind.

Dusk (horrorfell Papyrus) - rooibus tea with a little brown sugar and milk. It's simple, and granted can be an any time of year favorite, but it's his favorite thing for a chilly fall morning on the porch, watching the leaves fall.

Blue - buttered rum. He’s got a little bit of a penchant for thick beverages, and he likes the way the sweetness is tempered well by strong, good quality rum. He doesn't drink often, but he makes an exception for buttered rum a few times every fall.

I have a question!!! What would it take to get the more stoic boys (like Ell, Merc, Nemo, Vi and King—and anyone else you want to add) to crack a smile?

So you want to make the stony faces crack a smile, huh? An admirable goal!

I went ahead and picked out the most stoic skeletons I could think of, and the best way to get them to break and laugh for you—or at least grin…

King (Horrorfell Papyrus)  – He’s a tough nut to crack, but if you don’t happen to have a clever wit to banter back and forth with him, using your sharpest ripostes and most stinging barbs, physical comedy is actually your best bet. He’s a bit of a sadist and has just enough of a mean streak to always find it funny when someone falls, or walks into a pole, or really any other form of slapstick as a result of someone’s clumsiness or inattention. He generally has enough grace to rein his visible amusement in, but if you ever see some sort of petty accident waiting to happen, do point it out—or be the clumsy fool yourself, you just might see an undignified snicker.

Merc (Horrorswap Sans) – He actually has a great sense of humor and joy, so he does already smile quite a bit! Just…because of his condition, he has to keep in control of his emotions, so those smiles are small and slow and restrained, lest he feel too much and lose his handle on himself. That said, the element of surprise is crucial to winning the big and real reactions from him, catching him off-guard so he doesn’t see it coming and can’t mount an internal defense against it. Non sequiturs and unexpected punchlines work great for this, but are best used sparingly—both to keep the element of surprise at play, and to keep his discomfort from getting a little melty to a minimum.

Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus) – In spite of his often surly or sour mood, he’s not especially difficult to amuse. Probably his favorite thing, though, is anything that happens to be unintentionally funny—as in, something that was not meant to be comedic but, by circumstance or execution or some other factor, has just completely missed the mark and has worked its way around to funny. Really badly outdated special effects or especially hokey dialogue in shows and movies tend to work well in getting him to smile, but he’s liable to bark out a laugh for signs and billboards and such that should not have been placed next to each other, or if you share with him something stupid and out of touch that a celebrity or politician may have said.

Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus) – He’s only deceptively hard to get a smile out of. He’s often anxious, or in guard-dog mode, thinking about things that could happen, and what he’d have to do in the event of X, Y, or Z, which has the Resting Bitch Face out in full force…but he’s far from a heart of stone. When he’s relaxed and comfortable, he’ll smile about pretty much anything, even just for it being a kind of nice day outside. …But if you want to see him smile even when he's not entirely chill, all it really takes is some kids, or maybe a funny animal. Seeing kids goofing around doing kid things, or a puppy dog up to some puppy type antics, he has a hard time not smiling for that.

Spectr (Transcendtale Sans) – He’s a very, very tough one, almost the poster skeleton for ‘nothing to smile about in my life.’ He’s definitely lost in his own existentialism a lot, or the opposite and trying not to think about more than what’s directly in front of him, which does make it pretty difficult to get a laugh out of him. Still, he can’t quite help himself when it comes to skeleton-based jokes and puns—it’s tired, old material, sure, but very comforting and familiar, and he likes to hear it. It’s not a guaranteed laugh if you hit him with some humerus wordplay, but he’s pretty likely to be smiling behind his mask, and even likelier to throw you a bone and respond in kind.

Tank (Underfell Fruition Papyrus) – With him, it’s a little bit like getting one of those palace guards to crack a smile—it’s not so much that he’s humorless, just that he’s (until recently) not been allowed to show a response…and as a related issue, he’s not at all familiar with social cues and doesn’t always realize a certain response is expected of him. Because of that, one of the best ways to get him to smile is to explain a joke for him, or just let him know that what was said was a joke. It’s easier for him to feel comfortable expressing his amusement if he knows for sure that he was meant to be amused, but as for a specific preference of humor… Well, he actually really likes skeleton-related puns and jokes, too! His brother used to tell them all the time when they were younger and since he wasn’t around long enough to use them to death those are very fond memories!

Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans) – Now he’s the poster skeleton for ‘nothing to smile about in my life,’  and consequently, not very easy at all to coax a smile from. He’s too into the habit of keeping his most important and genuine feelings off his face to be fully comfortable smiling over just anything. If someone knows that something makes him happy, it can be taken away from him, after all. …But if whatever he’s smiling about is something vague, deprived of its context and mysterious to anyone who isn’t in the know… His fastest and easiest smiles are the ones that come from inside jokes, funny moments that maybe he didn’t laugh about at the time, but will freely grin and reference later with just a ‘YOU HAD TO BE THERE’ to anyone else prying for more context. He likes secrets, and the ones he can share with you are the most fun.

Here’s that character reference sheet I was talking about in my other post. I kinda… overdid it with this one (*laughs nervously). I just did this for fun, and to practice doing reference sheets.

If you’ve read Tangles you’d know most of these are from scenes in the fic, if you haven’t read it you’re probably not going to understand the context of these, so you should probably go read it, it’s on AO3!! Moving on, the only one of these that is technically not really in the fic is the one the bottom left corner, with him working on the blanket, but I mean, I can’t be the only who pictured him working on it? Right??

Now that we are talking about the blanket, funny thing is, since English is not my first language, when I read the part about the colors of the blanket I got a little confused and first thought it just talked about just the color Sedona, so ended up making a this version of the blanket with different shades of Sedona.

After closer inspection I thought that it didn’t look “butt-ugly” so I went back to the fic to double check, and then I realized I read over the part were it mentions the others colors in the blanket (oops). I went back and fixed it then, and sure enough that color combination is “butt-ugly”! I also made another mistake, in the upper right corner, I drew a store shelf, but in the story they’re reaching out to a basket, sorry!! I’ve been working on this one for a couple of days, so I just called it done and left it like it is, anyways there’s something called artistic liberties, so guess it’ll be fine.

Also, if you’re wondering who’s the girl, since this is a character x reader kind of fic, I just based her off the typical Shoujo protagonist, you’d be surprised to see how many shoujo protagonists are short haired brunette girls. Years ago I remember realizing this and I thought that since brown hair is very common, that the authors did that because it would be easier for young girls to project onto those protagonists and Immerse themselves in the story.

About the Mechanism that helps him open and close his jaw, I’m no engineer or anything like it, I just thought it would be fun to see a design of the mechanism that could work. Realistically speaking, it probably wouldn’t work but it was fun to design it either way.

Rust grins as he watches you shyly stutter out the words. His one intact socket was lidded while his bone cheek rests in his clawed hand. His chest rumbled as he talked with a slight slur to his voice. “…course ya can, sweet cheeks.” Rust rises from his seat, slipping the hand from his bone cheek as he reaches out to you. Despite his large stature and intimidating aura and looks, his sharp phalange trails underneath your jaw with the utmost care. As if he was touching a baby rabbit.

“…lil’ smooch comin’ right up.” He purrs as he leans down. The rust colored orb in his destroyed socket seemed almost fuzzy at the edge as he got closer to you. But he didn’t place his sharp teeth against your lips, he presses them to the ridge of your nose instead. Gently nuzzling a skelekiss onto your skin. And you swore you heard him purr like a kitten.

Can I request something with your Horrorfell boys? How would they react to separately meeting and becoming friends with someone, only for both to realize they're close to the same person? Could be platonic or romantic, I just want something possibly wholesome.

How neither of these boys realise they’ve both befriended you is a complete mystery.

Besides you, the two really only socialise with each other and neither enjoy being outside.

Pyre prefers sticking to the kitchen and dining room. If you’re his friend (or his crush) he probably spends a lot of time cooking food with you and for you

Hound prefers his room or living room where neither of you have to do much moving. Watching dumb movies is a favourite way to spend your time together

Once the two of them figure it out it’s a little touch and go for a while

Both of them think the other has more malicious intents.

Pyre thinks Hound is trying to prove himself the better, stronger, less disabled brother

Hound doesn’t trust Pyre around anyone smaller and weaker than him. He’s seen his temper before. The damage done to those was horrific.

The two end up clashing with you stuck in the middle trying to explain everything.

Luckily for you, you’re a very good deescalator otherwise the brothers would have traded blows by now

You end up being the bridge between the two, letting them each explain their feelings, thinking’s and thoughts without being trampled by the other

You leave, reassuring each other that you would be back, that yes, you still wanted to be their friend. You just needed to let them talk to each other alone.

Hound and Pyre do come to an agreement. They’re both your friends, they both want to keep you safe (and happy), and thats easier to do if they both keep being your friend

Your hangouts end up looking a little different though

you and Hound sit in the living room goofing off as you make fun of the latest trashy movie.

You help Pyre in the kitchen and come out with lunch, dinner or breakfast and the three of you eat together

Sometimes you and Hound manage to convince Pyre enough to let you all eat on the couch. There’s a lot of begging and puppy dog eyeing him before Pyre gives in

(Pyre secretly watches the movie from the kitchen like a dad. If you call him out on it he’ll disappear for a little while before he turns up behind the couch utterly transfixed on the screen)

Hound constantly try’s to get you to cuddle with him. If you’re both sitting down, you’re cuddling, no question about it.

(Which you don’t mind, he’s huge and fluffy and warm. Even if you do act up a little whenever he drags you onto his lap)

If those platonic feelings ever turn to romantic… well they’ve already been sharing you, nothing needs to change ;)

📓 I need to know what you've been daydreaming about!

This is an idea that also has been popping in and out of my head and I’ve tried writing the notes but then I’m like o(-( ough it’s so complicated to write jdhflgjg

It’s a medieval AU where you’re a princess and HF!Sans is a bigtime criminal who tried to kill some court official maybe, and he’s sentenced to death for treason/other. Sans yells something as he’s being dragged away (about the unfairness of life?) and it intrigues you, prompting you to sneak into the dungeons to give him a visit. He’s surprisingly courteous with you and flirts with you, about how lucky he is that the beautiful princess has graced him with her visage.

He talks about something (which I imagine is something related to the famine in his village) that makes you sympathize with him heavily. You tell him you’re sorry about it happening at all and vow to fix it. He chuckles and makes you promise to do it, saying that if you help his village he’ll come to the execution willingly.

You feel… a little better knowing you can do something good, but the thought of Sans’ death doesn’t sit right with you. You come to the execution place (you aren’t sure why,) and as he walks up to the hanging platform he gives you a wink. And all of a sudden you feel ‘this is wrong,’ and distract the guards, helping to free him. Sans is stunned and doesn’t budge at first until you pull at him to run, and as the guards realize what happens and starts chasing you, you start to lag behind Sans. Sans turns your way and cries “too slow!!”, picks you up and throws you over his shoulder like a potato sack and fights his way out of the castle.

After that chapter, you’ll be stressed out and going “I’m a traitor! Aghhh!!! I’m a criminal too now what did I do!!!”

Sans is going to ask if you regret freeing him, and you say no. He’s, kinda in love, and he tells you he’ll keep you safe and that you’re going to be ok.

The rest of the fic is journeying back to Sans’ village while dodging the law.
