METEOR GARDEN (2018 CHINESE ADAPTATION)
So the ending was Dong Shancai (SHEN YUE) was told by Ximen (CEASAR WU) that she rejected Daoming Si (DYLAN WANG) and he moved to London.
Then Daoming Si appeared making the same demands of when they met. Shancai denied him and he left. Then Daoming Zhaung (HSU DEE) appeared with two backup dancers and danced to the song RIVER (by BISHOP BRIGGS aka SARAH MCLAUGHLIN) which is a popular song in the states at that time.
She then tried to summon Daoming Si but instead got Hauze Lei (DARREN CHEN) Ximen (CEASAR WU) and Meizuo (LEON LEONG) having to choose one of them to marry. They all make their pitch.
After she turns them all down they summon Daoming Si who appears with every other guy that fell for our heroine Shancai including her best friend Qing He (LIN YIN HAO) Thomas (BLAKE ABBIE) and Tian Ye (WANG RUN ZE)
They were married by Daoming Si's sister without Shancai's parents or Daoming Si's evil mother who by this point wasn't trying to stop them in attendance. But the two mean girls that sent Shancai into a blizzard were there. But like @pose4photoml said...they got their happy ending.

♡ :: hii can i get a school au with jay? thank youuu i love you work!! ༉ ゚
⇢˚⋆ ✎ author note: hi lovely! thank you so much for requesting and i’m glad you love my work! it means the world to me <3 i’m so sorry that it took a while to get this out but i hope you still enjoy it! @yeojinscactus (the bonus scenario isn’t my favorite but i think it was cute!)ˎˊ-:
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ────── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .*
my mans, jay
beautiful eye candy in the school, you know?
i know when we have that one attractive person in school
you don’t even have to actually like them
your eyes just gravitate towards them?ಥ_ಥ̥
that was who jay was
putting your books in your locker and you hear jay’s laugh near?
YOU SIDE EYE HIM AS HE WALKS BYE
(DID YOU KNOW PEOPLE CAN SEE WHEN YOU SIDE EYE THEM? BWUIBDIUWHID)ಥ‿‿ಥ
but he’s too invested talking to sunghoon to notice
sunghoon park: best friend of jay park and eye candy number two
jay and sunghoon were pretty popular at school
like F4 minus two other people
and they weren’t jerks (◡‿◡✿)
(just kidding haha i love gu jun-pyo(◕▿◕✿))
meaning lots of people liked them
and had them as their eye candy
i mean sunghoon was handsome FOR SURE
but jay just had your heart ❤(ˆ‿ˆԅ)
if you don’t wanna listen to the sob story about your teacher’s life
just glance over and you’ll see an actual angel
let’s introduce him, shall we?
jay park: classmate and friend of yours, most importantly, YOUR CRUSH
the angel complex is different when he’s your friend pls
jay will literally come at you in class
especially if he sits behind you
english class is literally hell for you (ㆁᴗㆁ✿)
“quit it jay”
you shake your head
“quit what?”
“stop trying to see if my hair can balance your pencil”
(pouty jay) “b-but i just want to try it out,”
“well it keeps just getting tangled in my-”
“WAIT DON’T MOVE I ALMOST GOT IT”
your hair was coming out in CLUMPS because he kept getting this pencil stuck in your hair
you were questioning on how you weren’t balding yet ಥ_ಠ
from tangles
 and stress
the amount of trouble you have gotten in because of this man
“YAH THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT THAT I GOT DETENTION”
“my fault? HOW IS THIS MY FAULT?
“if you didn’t spit your disgusting, chewed up gum in my hair and stick my hair to the chair, we wouldn’t be here would we ?”
“well it’s my not fault that your hair can’t unstick that easily.”
sunghoon came in at the right time to hold you from beating the shit out of jay ᕕ༼✿•̀︿•́༽ᕗ
anyway
back to our regular channel (っ^▿^)
you had a PHAT crush on jay
you and sunghoon were shocked at how jay hasn’t noticed
anyone could see it besides the best man himself
oh did i mention you and sunghoon are good friends too?
he’s the only one to know about you liking jay
you don’t trust a lot of people but sunghoon was like your over protective older brother
he made sure you ate all your meals
always offers to walk you home
carries your books to your class
(to literally blackmail you into doing assignments for him)
when he found out that you liked jay, he did not like it AT ALL
“y-you like who?
“jay park, park jong seong, your best friend that you literally stick with all day?’
“i think i’m hearing you wrong? did you say yang jungwon?” (◕ᴗ◕✿)
the point, sunghoon cool older brother role
stamp of approval ٩(˘◡˘)۶
you would confess to him but you just didn’t know how to?
first, you don’t know if he likes you back
second, what type of confession does jay even like?
the ones that go out all big with ballons and a chorus?
the ones in public with a bunch of people watching?
the ones were you just say ‘i like you’?
AHH IDK YOUR HEAD WAS JUST A MESS
he should start paying rent honestly o(╥﹏╥)o
must be from the pain of having you hair teared out everyday
he just tortures you
in the movies, it always played out that if a guy tortures you
he likes you
well then jay would like 20 other people as well
jay just had natural flirty vibe to him
(playboy shit)
why did you even like this empty peanut shell?(⊙_◎)
he has no smarts
and no sense of read the room
but he has the looks
and humor
GOSH DEIHWIEOHOIENFIOE
you really had to ponder on this
do you want to marry a guy who is an idiot and will make unnecessary comments but has the looks and can turn your frown upside down?
OR do you want to marry a guy who has a 4.5 GPA and will be able to keep his remarks to himself BUT is average and cold?
who do you think will win from this ratio?
of course today was the day that ms. kim assigns us a lab
AND JAY IS HERE
he usually skips chem but for some odd reason
he was here
“i will be assigning your lab partners”
the whole class groans and you cross your fingers behind your back
“please don’t be jay, please don’t be jay, please be sunghoon, please be sunghoon,”
“sunghoon with hana”
sunghoon can feel your deserpate prayers and shoots you an apologizing look
“okay if i can’t be with sunghoon universe, how about jake hm? i heard he’s good at chemistry,”
“jake and yeji”
“I LITERALLY HATE MY LIFE FBWIUBFIOWN”(º﹃º)
“jungwon and areum”
“sunoo and haneul”
“niki with sujin”
“heeseung with juyeon”
YOU WERE PRACTICALLY READY TO EVAPORATE
like you were speaking to the universe,
“heyyy so i’m ready, can you book room 35 for me? i want a window view! thanks”
“jay and (y/n)”
“MY LUCK-”
you had to change your partner
you raise your hand and ms.kim glares at you
“these partners are final! no exchanging!”
you smacked your head against the desk
oh dear lordy
jay comes over, chem textbook in hand
“hey partner”
he winks at you
and you scowl
(I KNOW YOU LIKED IT ON THE INSIDE(/ε\*))
OH UNIVERSE, WHY MUST YOU BE SO CRUEL TO ME?
you were sobbing on the outside
(YOU WERE DOING YOUR LITTLE DANCY DANCY OUT OF HAPPINESS INSIDE(・ε・`))
“for today’s lab, you guys will be experimenting with how certain chemicals react with each other,”
this is gonna be BAD
“i will be passing out a sheet with information of the chemicals that are placed on your desk. please make sure to put on all your gear! “
“but ms. kim, these safety goggles make me lo-”
“i don’t care! this is for your safety hana”
you put on goggles, mask, gloves and coat
you glance over to jay to see him dozing him off
you smack his head
“I’M UP SUNGHOON, WHAT- oh it’s just you.”
“please put your gear on, you might burn yourself,”
jay wiggles his eyebrows
“oh worry about me i see”
OF COURSE I AM YOU IDIOT
“whatever, let’s just finish this lab”
jay puts his gear on too
even in a lab coat and in big goggles, he still looked handsome
“(y/n), are you good?”
jay’s face was WAY too close ʕ◉aᴥ◉ʔ
“yeah i’m f-fine,”
you shielded your face and knocked his forehead back
he pouted before looking at the chemicals
“okay what’s this chemical?”
“that’s bleach. this is technically household bleach so it’s actually a mixture-”
“and what’s this one?”
“that’s rubbing alcohol. isopropyl alcohol, also known as isopropanol, is a colorless, volatile and flammable liqu-”
“what if i mix them together?”
“well i wouldn’t do that, it say-”
guess what he did?
he poured the bleach in the rubbing alcohol
wait for it
BOOM BOOM
.
..
...
RING RING RING
jay had managed to mess up
who am i kidding?
it’s jay 눈_눈
he mixed two chemicals that explode when together
and he set the fire alarm off
“YOU IDIOT, BEFORE YOU POURED IT IN, I WAS TRYING TO SAY THAT-”
“WHY DIDN’Y YOU WARN ME?”
“I DI-”
“ I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT YO-”
“IF YOU WOULD LISTEN TO ME IDIOT”
you threw a book at him
“I TRIED TO, LOOK WHAT YOU DID”
he threw the book back at you-
you guys just kept throwing books at each other BDDJFJFMVKDKCNVK
“I CAN’T HEAR YOU BECAUSE OF THIS FIRE ALARM”
“okay class, please do not remove any of your protective gear and exit to the left of the classroom,”
going to school with jay was intresteing?
never a normal day
sadly
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ────── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .*
the loud blare of the fire alarm rung but ms. kim’s screaming instructions managed to beat the sound. you turn around to glare at jay. you pick up your notebook and throw it to him.
“this is your fault you idiot! if you would have just-” you shout
jay throws the book back at you and it hits your face.
his eyes widen before he tries to contains his laughter “s-sorry i didn’t mean t-too ”
jay bursts our laughing before someone gets a hold of his lab coat.
“YAH WHO ARE YOU- JAKE MY MAN,” jay goes in for a bro-shake
“yeah not right now dude,” jake drags him away outside and jay dramatically puts a hand over his chest and waves goodbye to you.
you roll your eyes before heading out of the door and out the emergancy exit.
a tall penguin’s eyes glance around before seeing your face and letting a sigh of relief. he jogs over to you, “(y/n) don’t scare me like that, i thought you were still stuck in there.”
sunghoon swings his arm over your shoulder. you sigh, “i was stuck in there because jay was arguing about who started the explosion.”
you and sunghoon both glance at the whale cry of jay.
jay was laying on the ground, acting dead while jake was panicking and jungwon rolled his eyes, nudging jay with his foot
“what about him do you like again?”
“i don’t know?”

I have long debated whether or not I should write this, but @rain-hat convinced me that I should. So here I am, penning this diss meta about The King: The Enternal Monarch. Starting off with the disclaimer that I love this show. This is the show that introduced me to the wonderful Woo Do Hwan and for that I can never be thankful enough. But I have issues with the show, and I will enumerate them here. Brace yourselves for a tirade. It’s long, so putting a “keep reading”.
 1)    Manpasikjeok: Let’s start with the basis of the series. The Manpasikjeok. The series never delves into what the Manpasikjeok is. It’s a flute, yes. But it doesn’t delve into the background of this all-powerful plot device. I understand that the Manpasikjeok is a part of the Korean folklore and thus, probably the makers did not feel the need to delve deeper. But for non-Korean viewers like me, it was very confusing. So, before I speak about the details of what exactly bothered me about the flute, I will present the story itself.
After the death of his father King Munnu, King Sinmun of the Silla Dynasty heard the rumors of an island floating toward the temple that he had built in the honor of his father. A fortuneteller told Sinmun that the late King had become a sea dragon and his loyal General, Kim Yu-shin, had become a heavenly god. The fortuneteller also said that if he were to visit the island, he would get an incredible gift. When Sinmun went in search of this floating island, it looked like it had a turtle’s head and a bamboo tree on its back. In the mornings, the bamboo looked to be split into two while at night, it would join. After braving through seven days of storm, the King reached the island. There the sea dragon told him to make a flute out of the bamboo tree. This flute was said to provide magical properties. When the flute was played, enemy forces would retreat, and diseases were cured. Also, the magic flute would bring rainfall if there was a drought and stop the rains in floods. Ever since then, the bamboo flute was called ‘Manpasikjeok,’ meaning a flute that calms down ten thousand waves and it became a national treasure. This is the folktale.
If I am to nitpick, time travel and parallel universes are not mentioned in the folktale. But that is something I am willing to let slide, because you need something to make the story work and the makers chose a mythical object from the folklore. People do it all the time, so I am not going to penalize the makers for it. What I am going to diss them for is the way they spoke about the spirit of the flute. Was it a demon? A spirit? A god? What? Why did it not allow Lee Lim to age? If time passes differently for the owner of the flute as Lee Lim claims, why did Gon’s time seem normal for the most part? The only difference in time seemed to be when the portal was opened and time stopped. So, before Gon opened the portal, time did not stop for Lee Lim. Why then did he not age?
2)      Post series events (part I): Which brings me to the second problem I have with the series. Post-series events. I understand Ta Eul retaining her memories of the alternate timeline because, she was in the portal and thus, remained untouched by the effects of the changed timeline. Fair. I get Gon retaining memories, because he was the owner of the flute. Granted. Why did Jo Yeong retain the memories when everyone else forgot about it? The only explanation I have is that it was because he was in the past timeline when the timeline changed? But the show never bothers to give an explanation for it. Also, if the events in altered timeline happened almost exactly as they did in the original timeline, then Yeong came to Republic of Korea. If Yeong came to Republic of Korea, then he met Jo Eun Sup. As did Gon. Why then did Eun Sup not recognize Gon at the end? Why does Yeong say that Eun Sup will not remember him? Is it because Yeong retained memories from the altered timeline and hence believed Gon when he said that he was going to the other world? Then, it stands to reason that Yeong did not go to Republic of Korea. Then things changed! They did not go exactly the way it happened in the series. Ah! My head hurts.
 3)      Corea and Korea: They are parallel worlds. I get it. But at times, they were nigh indistinguishable. This is @rain-hat’s input and I agree with it completely. Why are the people in Corea dressed like Westerners and why are we not seeing more Hanboks? Why are court ladies the only ones dressed in traditional garb? Also, what is the official religion of Corea?
 4)      The characters: This is going to be a long one, so brace yourselves. I have issues with the characters. I’m going for bullet points, because I have LOT TO SAY.
 ·       Kang Shin-jae: Other than messing with him in all possible ways, what was the purpose of this character. As my editor once said, you must ask yourself what purpose does a character serve to the overall story? The litmus test of it being, if the said character is removed from the equation, does it impact the overarching plot of the story in any significant way? And much as I love this character, I’m sorry to say, his removal would not have impacted the story in any way. Yes, I’m aware that even Meyong Seung-ah does not pass this litmus test, but she does not occupy nearly as much screen time as Shin-jae. I wish they had utilized the character more than just use him as a material to evoke emotions.
·       Koo Seo Ryeong: She is portrayed as a villain/b*tch. Why? Because she has political ambitions and is a woman who is not above playing the ruthless game that the men around her seem to be playing? She is a woman who has clawed her way to the top in a man’s world. Can we please stop demonizing women like this?
·       Jo Yeong: Yes. Surprise, I know. He is the reason I (and many others) kept watching the show. The man who stole the show, the one who carried the show. A startlingly pretty face backed by a phenomenal performance, Jo Yeong is a treat. BUT, for a character as spectacular as Yeong, he was not utilized enough. I wish the show had actually given him something to do when he was in Korea. They wasted a talent like Woo Do Hwan.
·       Jeong Ta-eul: I loved Ta-eul when she first came on screen. Badass, no nonsense, tough as nails cop in her thirties as out leading lady? HELL YEAH! But then she meets Lee Gon and all the things that I loved about her seemed to evaporate. She became a cry baby and I just could not handle that. K-dramas, can you please stop turning the badass female leads into a prop for the leading man’s “bravery and heroism”. (Fervently hoping Nine Tails doesn’t do that, because I love Jo Bo ah’s character there).
·       Lee Gon: Oh, I hate this character with a passion. TKEM gave me SLS like no other drama before or since. I sincerely want to ask Lee Min Ho; just how many versions of Gu Jun Pyo are we going to see from him? Rich, powerful, privileged man who does whatever he wants? I’m getting really tired of it. I like Lee Min Ho, but really, you need to branch out, dude.
5)      Post series events (part II): Speaking of Lee Gon, my man, you posses the all powerful tool to travel through parallel universes and time, and you use it to go on dates? WHAT THE F***? AAAHHGHHKSJJGFHVJHMDSYFHJVHKJNSKLJHG. Lee Lim was right. You’re WASTING it. Ugh. Personally, I felt as though the entire romance plot could have been done away with.
6)      JoGon: The series teased heavily about this relationship and the fandom lapped it up. Beautiful fanart and fanfics emerged. But, I have issues and no, it’s not because they’re a same sex couple. My issue comes from the power dynamics of the couple. It is skewed beyond belief. The dynamic works perfectly when it is a king-bodyguard relationship. But the second it becomes a romance, there’s problem. All the power in the relationship is with Gon and Yeong has almost no agency in the relationship. And I love Jo Yeong too much to subject him to a relationship like that.
7)      Product Placement: Yes, it was tough, but there was a series somewhere between all those product placements.
In closing, this series had the potential to be so much more. Yet, it failed. Spectacularly. I liked and enjoyed this series, but I have so many issues. SO MANY. Do you have any issues you would like to add? Please feel free.

Confessions
SUMMARY: A little light hearted AU of episode 6. Where Geum Jan-Di has rejected Gu Jun-Pyo. But he stills hasn't quite gotten the idea yet. The beach trip is the catalyst for Yoon Ji-Hoo to realize what is right in front of him.
NOTES: I am just trying to soothe my soul here. Nothing major, this series isn’t anything consecutive, Just my series of au’s and fix-it’s.
WARNINGS: Nothing much, possible panic/anxiety attack triggers and piss poor CPR/ medical inaccuracies.
You can read it directly on Ao3 here.
Masterlist // Ao3 // The Misc. Adventures of Geum Jan-Di and Yoon Ji-Hoo
The trip to New Caledonia was a welcome surprise for Sinhwa High's own Wonder Girl Geum Jan-Di and pleasant sidekick Chu Ga-Eul and a must needed vacation for the F4 boys. The flight was long, but smooth. The landing was a little rough causing Jan-Di's legs to shake as she stood up. Ji-Hoo was at her elbow grip light and stabilizing.
"You alright? Ears don't hurt? You're not dizzy?" He asked lowly. Jan-Di shook her head, leaning into his grip slightly.
"No, I am fine sunbae. I am just a little unsteady is all. I haven't flown before so I am happy my first time was with my friends. Jun-Pyo will only make a little fun of me." Jan-Di smiled. Ji-Hoo nodded in agreement, helping her get her carry on down. They were the last two off, Ji-Hoo keeping a hold of her to escort her off the plane.
There were stairs attached to the plane and parked a bit from the bottom was a limo where the others were already getting in. Ga-Eul was patiently standing outside for her friend while Yi-Jung waited to help her into the car. Once she saw Jan-Di she waved and accepted his help into the car.
"You have one very loyal friend there, Jan-di." Ji-Hoo said. He took her bag as they walked down the stairs, hoping to minimizer her clumsiness.
"Yeah. I wish I had her at school instead of Min-Ji, then I would have avoided the sleeping around scandal." Jan-Di said it nonchalantly, forgetting that he had been in France when that happened.
"I am sorry. The what scandal?" Ji-Hoo froze on the stairs. Jan-Di turned to him from the first to last stair, surprise evident on her face.
"No one told you? Oh, you were still in Paris when this happened, sunbae?" She finished going down the stairs, Ji-Hoo following her. "I was invited by Min-Ji to a club. She spiked my drink and set me up with a random student to take pictures. The article was spread through the news, that the scholarship student was an undignified woman. That was also around the same time that I had rejected Jun-Pyo, but we were trying to be friends, so the point was to make it seem like I was cheating on him." Jan-Di grew sullen and quiet. They made it to the car in silence.
"Jan-Di, let's both enjoy our time here, okay?" ji-Hoo said, he much preferred her smiling to her frowning.
"You're right like always, sunbae. It would be rude to bring everyone down with my sadness. This trip is a gift in itself. I should enjoy it!" Jan-Di pumped her fist laughing.
"Aish, are we gonna leave anytime today?" Jun-Pyo demanded pushing the door open from the inside.
"Yeah, yeah. We're coming. Keep your shirt on." Jan-Di waved off his impatience. 'She has grown, not letting him step all over her.' Ji-Hoo thought.
The car ride to the resort was quiet, broken up mostly by Jan-Di and Ga-Eul's comments of appreciation. The two of them pointed out a lot of the pretty scenery and took a few pictures. One memorable moment, Jan-Di opened a window and leaned out to get a picture of the town in the distance. The car hit a bump and with a yelp almost feel out, the F4 all grabbed her ripping her back into the car with various curses. Ji-Hoo casually locked the windows to prevent another attempt, and the girls returned to pointing out interesting things, like almost falling out a car happened everyday.
They got to the resort a while later, the room were small buildings on the water attached with various walkways. Their luggage had already been delivered to their rooms. 'The flight was rather long, a shower and change of clothes wouldn't be a bad idea. If I hurry Ga-Eul and I can walk along the beach for a bit before dinner.' Jan-Di texted her friend explaining her idea. Ga-Eul agreed easily.
The two of them walked the path to the beach, The two of them talking about shared memories and catching up. Jan-Di's habit of getting picked up and harassed by the F4 and others didn't leave them much time to talk. "Jan-Di, are you really not going to date Gu Jun-Pyo sunbae?" Ga-Eul asked. "I know you still have feelings for Yoon Ji-Hoo sunbae. Did you reject Jun-Pyo to go out with him?" Ga-Eul asked again. Jan-Di had always appreciated the way Ga-Eul forced her to see her feelings.
Jan-Di stopped walking, digging her toes into the sand. "I rejected Gu Jun-Pyo because he is rude, demanding and overbearing. I rejected him because I have no romantic feelings for him, but I appreciate all his has done for me. I rejected him because I am sure I don't love him, but also I don't think he loves me. I confuse him, and that makes him want to have me in his life, but he doesn't know how to make friends. That is all we will ever be. And that is okay." Jan-Di explained honestly. She was glad Ga-Eul had asked, she missed talking with her friend. "I asked Seo-Hyun unnie to stay, I told him to go after her. I did that. I was the one who pushed us apart. I only wanted to make him happy. Sunbae had been so sad and I didn't know what to do. I loved him too much to be selfish, even though I desperately wanted to. I don't know what to do. Before, I knew where we stood. Now, he seems more open, more willingly. Like whatever was holding him back isn't there anymore." Jan-Di hugged herself, watching the way the sun reflected on the water. "I don't know where we stand anymore. I don't know what to do, and I feel like I am just pushing him farther away. Ga-Eul, what am I supposed to do?" Jan-Di sniffed, her emotions causing her eyes to grow wet and sting.
"I wish I could help. All I can tell you is to talk to him. If he came back for you, if he and Seo-Hyun worked everything out, then you are right. The thing holding him back is gone. He worked through his feelings already. He is just waiting for you to catch up." Ga-Eul said. She was ashamed she couldn't offer more or better advice. he didn't know that Jan-Di felt this strongly, or was thinking this hard about it. Jan-Di was overly simple sometimes but she was loyal and caring and didn't like making her friends suffer, taking on the burden to get through it on her own. "Whatever you do, be honest. And be strong. He deserves the truth too." Ga-Eul pulled Jan-Di's arms off herself, pulling her best friend into a tight hug. Squeezing tight, she took as much of Jan-Di's weight as she could trying to also lend her some strength. Ga-Eul heard her sniffling something into her shoulder. "I can't hear you if you don't speak clearly." Jan-Di took a deep breath moving her face to perch on her shoulder instead of in it.
"I don't want to lost Ji-Hoo sunbae. I love him. I want to be by his side always." Jan-Di confessed. Ga-Eul smiled at the air and rubbed her back, mumbling soothingly into her ear.
After a while, they sat down on the beach. They watched the sunset begin and talked about what had been happening to Jan-Di. She had hidden a lot of the bullying that had been happening to her, not wanting to concern her friend. They talked so long, the boys from F4 came down calling their names.
"Ga-Eul? Jan-Di? Are you guys down here? It's time to eat. We were getting worried. Come on!" Yi-Jung called seeing them. The two girls waved and hurried over, dusting themselves off as they went, laughing at each other.
"Hope you weren't waiting on us. We lost track of time." Jan-Di apologized, Ji-Hoo looked at her closely. Her voice was waterlogged and he could see the redness around her eyes. 'She's been crying. I will talk to her later.'
"No. We just were coming to find you but you weren't in your rooms." Woo-Bin told her. He also noticed she had been crying. He looked over at Ji-Hoo in concern. Ji-Hoo nodded to show he saw and would take care of it.
"Let's go eat." Jan-Di brightened at the idea of food.
"Is that all you think about? Food?" Jun-Pyo asked, he was trying to joke but it fell flat. Jan-Di's eyes shimmered wetly, she looked back to the beach. "Jeez, lighten up, laundry girl." Jun-Pyo stalked off, the others following him. Ji-Hoo stayed back to walk with Jan-Di. Their journey was slow, Jan-Di barely picking up her feet. "Jan-Di, what happened? Why were you crying?" Ji-Hoo tried to ask.
"Ji-Hoo sunbae, I want you to know something. I am so glad you are back. I missed you greatly while you were away. I have something else to tell you but I need more time. When I am ready, can I find you?" Jan-Di uncharacteristically serious.
"Of course. Geum Jan-Di, I am here for you whenever you need me." Ji-Hoo said. His words seemed to ease some of her anxiety. She stood up straighter and began walking instead of shuffling. It wasn't long before they met the others at the table of the restaurant. Dinner went off without a hitch. Everyone was talking and laughing and enjoying the food. They stayed till close, before Jun-Pyo paid the bill, claiming he invited everyone, the least he could do was pay.
The next morning dawned warm and bright. Everyone decided on a swim and then beach barbeque. Jan-Di was changed and off like a shot, Ga-Eul chasing after her. The others followed at a more sedate pace. Woo-Bin helping Yi-Jung with the catering for lunch. Jun-Pyo stopped Ji-Hoo on the path.
"Hey. It's been a while since we caught up last. Everything okay?" Jun-Pyo asked his oldest friend.
"Jun-Pyo, why didn't anyone tell me Jan-Di was being bullied so much?" Ji-Hoo knew Jun-Pyo was trying to avoid the conversation. He has asked several times how things were going, how Jan-Di was handling his absence but Jun-Pyo dodged his questions every time.
"I-uh-you" Jun-Pyo stuttered. He took a deep breath. "I honestly didn't know. Shortly after you left, We grew close and then she rejected me. I didn't take it well and with your leaving she was seen as the reason for the F4s disbandment. Once I got wind of it I claimed otherwise and that seemed to help. I eventually swallowed my pride to realize that she was right. I love her, she has been the source of a turning point in my life. I can never repay her for that. but I am not in love with her." Jun-Pyo and Ji-Hoo walked a few feet silently. "The news got around that she had rejected me, so the bullying turned into a massive scandal on her character. A girl who pretended to be Jan-Di's friend concocted the whole thing. We only found out because we had our sources. She never told us. Ever. She never asked for help, she never said anything. I know that we consider her friends, but I don't know if she considers us friends." Jun-Pyo spoke honestly, if a little hesitantly.
Ji-Hoo stayed quiet, absorbing what Jun-Pyo said. Ji-Hoo knew it to be tribute to Jan-Di's presence that Jun-Pyo was so serious and caring now. "She said something about the scandal when we got off the plane. We talked a little while I was away, she didn't tell me anything about the bullying. She would talk about you all. She always was positive about what she said." Ji-Hoo said. They were almost to the others, they watched Jan-Di pull her shirt off, hurrying to the water. She plunged right in while the other three got ready slower, putting on sunscreen and organizing their belongings. "Come on, let's hurry. They'll have all the fun without us." Ji-Hoo and Jun-Pyo hurried to the beach, each swiping one of the lounging chairs to settle into.
Jun-Pyo was relaxing watching his friends enjoy the beach. Ji-Hoo was lightly dozing. Ga-Eul was walking along the beach. Yi-Jung and Woo-Bin were beginning to arrange lunch. Jan-Di was still swimming.
"Jan-Di! Come in now! It's lunch time!" Ga-Eul called out to her friend. Jan-Di waved at her but made no move to come back to the beach. "Geum Jan-Di! You need to come back in!" Ga-Eul called again.
She took a few steps into the shallows, worry pitching her voice up. "Jan-Di! That is enough. Come back please!" Ga-Eul called again. She shuffled forward some more.
"Ga-Eul, what's wrong?" Yi-Jung asked from the beach.
"Something is wrong with Jan-Di. She is just flailing in place. She won't come in." Ga-Eul began to panic in earnest. "Jan-Di! I'm coming. Hold on!" Ga-Eul tried to go deeper but was stopped by Yi-Jung. She turned to bark something at him but was distracted by the blur of bronze skin and auburn hair.
Ji-Hoo raced paced her to dive into the water, swimming with speed and grace to where Jan-Di's failing was slowing down. He grabbed her, laying her on her back to wrap an arm around her. He began pulling her and himself to shore. Once she got to the shallows Yi-Jung and Woo-Bin helped carry her to a lounge chair Jun-Pyo readied. Ga-Eul tried to come forward but was held back by Yi-Jung. Jan-Di laid on the chair, limp and unconscious. Ji-Hoo checked her pulse and airways and not finding any, began to do chest compressions. He pressed firmly in the center of her chest. He counted to 30 and then pinched her nose to push his breath into her lungs. 'Come on, love, breathe for me.' He prayed. Pulling away, he saw it didn't work. He bent down and began a second round of CPR. 'Jan-Di, come on. I have something to say. You can't leave me alone already'
The other boys stood in silence, concern freezing them in place. Ga-Eul stood pressed into Yi-Jung's side and shoulder seeking comfort. They watched Ji-Hoo go through the second round of compression, knowing Jan-Di's chance shrunk with each minute. Ji-Hoo bent to being the third round when Jan-Di jerked, water spewing out of her mouth, coughing wetly. Ji-Hoo turned her on her side, rubbing her back in a soothing manner. He crouched down whispering comforting words into her ear, trying to beat the panic he was sure to come.
"Come on, let's give them a minute. We can get ready for lunch. They should be here any second now." Jun-Pyo pulled everyone's attention away from the two. Ga-Eul resisted Yi-Jung for a moment before complying. In no time at all, Ji-Hoo was alone with Jan-Di.
"You're okay. I am right here. You're fine." Ji-Hoo was murmuring. Jan-Di breath was coming in starts and stops, she was shaking. Ji-Hoo reached over and grabbed both their shirts. He threw his one and then gingerly helped Jan-Di into hers. Jan-Di sat up still trying to catch her breath. "Jan-Di, you're fine. You got a really bad cramp from over swimming, I rescued you. I had to do some CPR cause you weren't-"Ji-Hoo's voice broke. "You weren't breathing." He finished.
He wasn't sure what he was expected Jan-Di to do, but lurching into his chest and wrapping her arms tightly around him was not it. She pressed her face into his shoulder, trying to calm her breathing and stop her tears but couldn't seem to. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her in tighter. He didn't like her crying but somewhere deep inside him was pleased her tears were for him, in all the time he had know her, she only cried around him, pride bloomed in his chest at being the keeper of her tears.
"Ji-Hoo sunbae I was so scared. I tried to call out but I kept going under. I thought I was going to drown. I thought I was going to die. I would have if not for you. Thank you sunbae, for saving me again. I am sorry I got your shirt wet." She was speaking into his shirt but her could hear her just fine.
"I am glad you are okay. It would have broken a number of people's hearts. I will always do everything in my power to save you, not matter what. If you being alive end with nothing but a wet shirt then I will do it all over again. Jan-Di, it is okay to be scared. I was scared too. Everyone here was." His words seemed to help and hinder at the same time. Jan-Di pressed closer but her tears had finally stopped.
"We can stay here for a bit. They all are working on lunch. I don't want to push you too hard. I also don't want you getting in the water for a while. You went through a lot today, I don't want you pushing it." Ji-Hoo ran his fingers through her hair, trying to memorize how Jan-Di felt in his arms.
"I didn't plan on getting back in today. I think I had enough ocean today. I just really want some food and a nap." She paused humming thoughtfully. "And a shower" She giggled.
Ji-Hoo held her a little tighter, unadulterated joy thrumming in his veins. "I am so glad you are okay. You have no idea how scared and panicked I was."
Jan-Di's fingers gripped his shirt tight. "I am okay. Everything is fine. Thanks to you. You saved me." Jan-Di's voice was warm in his ear. She leaned back, beaming at him. "Let's get some lunch." The two of them got up, Jan-Di was a little unsteady but with Ji-Hoo's help she made it to the table with no problem.
The group dispersed after lunch to do their own thing. Jan-Di and Ga-Eul walked around the town near the resort. That is where she found a tabloid with the cover story being how Seo-Hyun was getting married. Jan-Di bought it with no hesitation, she would ask Jun-Pyo if there was any truth in the story. On their walk, Jan-Di was drawn to a woman selling flowers. Seeing as she had Jan-Di's attention she explained you only gave the flower to you one true love, and if they accepted then you would live happily ever after.
"Jan-Di, take it. You can give it to Ji-Hoo. It wouldn't hurt." Ga-Eul encouraged. Jan-Di frowned in consideration.
"Ga-Eul, I don't know. Sunbae is like prince charming, he deserves Cinderella. I am just the scullery maid. I don't want to bring his reputation down by getting closer." Jan-Di looked down, eyes dull and flat.
"If I may, You will never know if you don't try. Take one. I hope it is well received." The woman handed Jan-Di a plant. The two girls left, to continue shopping and sight-seeing before dinner. After dinner F4 and the girls were sitting around chatting Jan-Di forgetting she had left the magazine from earlier on the beach chair where Woo-Bin was now sitting. He had flipped through and upon seeing the story of Seo-Hyun turned to Ji-Hoo. Ji-Hoo didn't have much to say on the matter and as such had walked off a while ago. Jan-Di got up decided this would be the time she would begin paying Ji-Hoo back for all the support he gave her. She back tracked to her room and grabbed the love flower.
Ji-Hoo was exactly where she thought he would be, sitting on the boat he had borrowed to take her fishing on after lunch to keep her out of the ocean. She held the plant behind her back, remembering why she was here. She put the plant in the cool sand, standing before Ji-Hoo silently. She was here for him, she would wait for his acknowledgement.
"Why aren't you with the others?" He asked not looking up. He didn't have it in him right now to comfort her if she needed it. 'I maybe over Seo-Hyun noona but it still hurts that she is getting married. I miss her.'
"You are more important. I didn't want you to be alone." Jan-Di told him. Ji-Hoo finally looked up at her, surprise evident on his face. "I am sorry, Ji-Hoo sunbae. Seo-Hyun unnie is so important to you." Jan-Di's voice cracked on a small sob. "Maybe if you go back, you can talk her out of it, maybe you can win her over finally."
"No. We discussed our futures. We aren't meant to be. Some loves are purely platonic. The love Seo-Hyun and I share is. We will always be there for each other, be we can't be the only one for each other." Ji-Hoo smiled at Jan-Di, who had tears on her cheeks. "You just knew her better than I do." The comment seemed to increase her sadness. "He is a French nobleman. He is good for her. I approve of him."
"Sunbae, You have to be happy then, no matter who you choose in the future. I can't bear for you to be unhappy. If you are unhappy then I will be too." Jan-Di hesitated, trying to calm her tears. "Ji-Hoo sunbae, you have done so much for me, I don't have much to offer in return except myself. I will be there for you whenever you need me." Ji-Hoo stood up and pulled her into a hug. He knew that wasn't what she wanted to say.
"Jan-Di, what if I chooses you? What if you make me happy?" Ji-Hoo whispered in her ear. He felt her tense, he held her tighter, and she relaxed again. "How could I not love a woman who cares for me as much as you do? I only regret not understanding how I felt sooner."
"Ji-Hoo sunbae. Remember how I had something to tell you?" Jan-Di asked. Ji-Hoo nodded, walking backwards to the boat so he could pull her down tucking her under his arm.
"I have a secret." She paused. "I didn't want you to go to France, after Seo-Hyun unnie. I thought that with her leaving maybe you would see the simple common girl that was next to you. Then I realized I don't hold a candle to her. Let alone you look at me when she had been there for so long. I decided to instead of oppose you to support you. I decided your happiness was more important than mine." Jan-Di looked over the water, biting her lip. "It broke my heart to see you walk away in the airport and know it was me who pushed you away. I told Ga-Eul when we got here, I felt like I had cause a great rift in out friendship because I got greedy. When you came back, I was okay staying in the background, I knew eventually I would leave your life or you would find someone fitting for it. But you were different. You didn't seem as...distracted. You were more open with me and it made me hope. I grew to understand, the crush I had on you was nothing compared to the love I began to feel." Jan-Di covered her face with her hands, she could feel the heat on her cheeks.
"Jan-Di, My Jan-Di, Are you saying..."Ji-Hoo couldn't finish. He didn't want to assume with her. Assuming led to nothing good the last time.
Jan-di uncovered her face and gathered her courage, walking over to pick something out off the sand. "I am in love with you, Yoon Ji-Hoo. If you please accept this as well as my confession." Jan-Di held out the small white flowering plant, he cheeks as red as flames, eyes glinting determinedly.
Ji-Hoo turned around to grab a similar plant. "Geum Jan-Di. I, too am in love with you. If you please, accept this as well as my confession." Ji-Hoo grinned at the silently crying Jan-Di. He blinked, and noticed he was crying too.
They swapped plants, laughing and crying. They put the plants on the boat, and Ji-Hoo pulled her close once more. "How could I not love you. You care so intensely. I would be lost without you." He pulled her into a soft kiss, pressing his lips chastely against hers, relishing in the closeness. 'Never again will I be cold, with Jan-Di by my side.' He thought.
Jan-Di leaned into his strength. 'Never again will I be lonely, with Ji-Hoo by my side.' Jan-Di thought. She gripped the sides of shirt, enjoying the warmth he put off, the stability, the comfort.
After a few seconds of innocent pressure, Ji-Hoo moved his lips capturing her top one between his. The broke their kiss to hug one another. The feeling of eyes on them had them pulling apart. They turned to see Jun-Pyo angrily staring at them. Ji-Hoo and Jan-Di turned to face them, Ji-Hoo lacing their fingers together.
"How dare you. I can't believe you would take advantage of her like this. You should be ashamed." Jun-Pyo snarled at Ji-Hoo. Jan-Di stepped forward to block Ji-Hoo from his anger.
"Gu Jun-Pyo! We talked about this. You confessed to me once upon a time. I rejected you very nicely. I want us to be friends, Jun-Pyo. I told you then that you were too late or maybe too early. Remember? I wasn't ready for anything you had wanted to offer. Please don't make this hard on us. Support us as our friends. I love you Jun-Pyo but I will never be in love with you." Jan-Di told him. She clung tightly to Ji-Hoo's hand.
"Pathetic. He is only confessing to you because Seo-Hyun rejected him. How can you be someone's second choice? How can you love someone that would treat you like that?" Jun-Pyo demanded. Jan-Di felt Ji-Hoo's grip loosen. She hung on tighter.
"You wouldn't see me as your first choice, Jun-Pyo. Stop deluding yourself. Your business will always be first. Ji-Hoo might have loved someone before me, but that doesn't mean I am his second choice. His loves me. Even with the damage I will cause to his reputation. Ii am a simple commoner, and people will resent that. I am glad to be by his side as long as he will let me, until the day our love may run out. Unlike you. If I was to be with you, we would be forced apart and grow to resent each other over time. I am happy to be by Ji-Hoo's side, for how long that may be." Jan-Di seemed to fun out of steam, her grip growing lax in Ji-Hoo's.
"I am glad to stand by you forever. Jan-Di, I plan on marrying you one day. I have the freedom of choice. You are that choice." Ji-Hoo tightened his grip on her hand. He was speaking to her. He raised his voice to be heard by Jun-Pyo. "Jun-Pyo, please. Accept us. We are your friends. Treat us as such. Don't let this be the wedge that drives us apart." Ji-Hoo pleaded.
"Aish." Jun-Pyo stormed off, leaving nothing but tension and apprehension in his wake. Jan-di tried to shake off Ji-Hoo's grip and attention. She hadn't meant to be so aggressive with Jun-Pyo but she was tired of this coming up. She thought she had made her opinion well know before.
"When you reject Jun-Pyo before, he took it well but no one else did." Ji-Hoo said. Jan-Di looked at him waiting for him to ask a question. 'Her rejection of him offend the female students especially her so-called friend to the point they tried to ruin her reputation. And he had the nerve to think she would rethink her answer.' Jan-Di, what were you talking about earlier with Jun-Pyo?" Ji-Hoo finally asked.
"When I rejected him before, I told him that he wasn't in love with me. In the long run of things, I am nothing but a weak attempt at a rebellion. On top of that if I had accepted then one day I would be left alone and heartbroken because I will never be the most important thing to him." Jan-Di explained. She made to move back to the boat but was stopped by a gentle tug on her arm.
"Jan-Di, that isn't what I meant and I think you know that." Ji-Hoo was patiently waiting for her answer. This time when she stepped back towards the boat Ji-Hoo followed her. "I love you, I don't want you going into this will misconceptions."
"I love you too. I also know that you are a very well know and important person. I also know that I am not. I want to be with you for as long as I am able but I won't jeopardize you or your social standing because I am next to you." Jan-di bit her lip and played with the hem of her shirt.
"I may be of high social standing and have some pull in the upper class but I will not let that get in the way of us. I was serious, I have the freedom of choice being who I am. I plan on choosing you. One thing you need to understand is where Jun-Pyo will leave things to work out with minimal interference, I will be next to every second I can. You are no longer alone." Ji-Hoo explained. Jan-Di stared at him, considering what he said. The idea was a little novel to her, she wasn't one to be easily influenced, but the other girls had slowly gaslit her into believe she was a source of problems among the F4.
"I trust you. I will rely on you, then." Jan-Di sagged against Ji-Hoo, the emotions of the night catching up to her. She blinked slowly, sighing heavily. "I am glad I came along. I am glad you came back. Who knows where we'd be if you hadn't."
"Jan-Di, I couldn't leave you if I tried. You can rely on me. I would be honored if you would. Now how about we go back to our rooms? We should get some sleep so we can enjoy the rest of vacation." Ji-Hoo handed both plants to Jan-Di then crouched before her. "Get on. I'll carry you back."
A little bit later Jan-Di took the plant Ji-Hoo gave her and stepped towards her door. She turned quickly pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth. "Night, Ji-Hoo." She ducked quickly into her room.
Ji-Hoo stood frozen, fingers pressed to wear Jan-Di's lips just touched, a soft smile on his face. "Good night, sweetheart."

Progress
Stray Kids Extra Member AU
Summary: Stray Kids are on the set of On Track and Ollie realized that there was some progress with her and Hyunjin’s relationship.
A/N: Hope you guys like it!
Requests are open! Feedback is greatly appreciated.
Tumblr media
“It’s been so long since I’ve worn a uniform,” Ollie said, tugging on her skirt.
“You’ve worn them for performances,” Felix told the older as he watched the stylists fix her hair. She had dyed it to a light brown for this mv, but they all knew that once the mv was shot, Ollie would have an appointment at the ready to dye it back to some unicorn color. It was a wonder that her and Chan weren’t bald yet.
“Yeah, but I don't know. This feels different,” Ollie paused for a bit, looked at Felix, then shrugged.
They were on the set of On Track, and Ollie was excited to film an mv that came with a plot. Not that the other mv’s didn’t have one, but this one was more concrete. Ollie felt like she was on the set of a drama. And what made her more excited was that she was apparently the female lead, while Minho and Hyunjin fought over her.
Ollie grimaced at the thought. While she knew that the boys would do a great job, she was having a hard time imagining Hyunjin, having feelings for her. Obviously, they were just acting, but she was a bit worried that he would still feel too uncomfortable with her.
He’d be fine, Ollie told herself as she walked over to the rest of the boys, once the stylist was done with her. It didn’t matter how awkward they were, they could easily separate personal from work.
Standing next to Seungmin and Jisung, Ollie looked around as the PD explained the scene that they were about to film. She saw how excited each of the boys were and it only made Ollie even more excited than she already was.
“You’re literally vibrating,” Jisung whispered in Ollie’s ear. She turned to look up at him, grinning from ear to ear. Jisung held back a laugh at the sight. When she turned away from him, she saw Chan smiling at them, just as excited.
“Judging by your faces, I can tell that you guys are ready,” the PD smiled at the group, meeting Ollie’s eyes and smiling even wider. Ollie gave a squeal, covering her mouth, once the sound left her lips. She blushed as everyone laughed.
“Every time,” Seungmin rolled his eyes as the group dispersed.
“Sorry,” Ollie sheepishly said, following behind Jisung to meet up with Minho.
“You’re fine. You’re just excited, and rightfully so. This is pretty cool,” Minho smiled at Ollie, watching her fix her blazer.
“How’s it look?” Ollie asked looking up at Minho and Jisung.
“Great, Noona,” Jisung smiled.
“Yep, perfect for the leading female,” Minho said, patting her head. She beamed at the action.
“Jisung,” Chan called from where he and Changbin were looking something over on the script. Jisung held a thumbs up then turned to Ollie and Minho.
“I’ll be back,” he waved to them as he hurried off towards the others. Just as he left, Hyunjin walked over to them.
“Hey, Jinnie,” Minho smiled at the boy.
“Hey, Hyung,” the younger came and draped an arm around Minho’s shoulder, “You ready to battle it out like Gu Jun Pyo and Yoon Ji Hoo?”
“Dear God,” Ollie chuckled as she watched both boys square up.
“Geum Jan Di is mine,” Minho said, grabbing Ollie and pulling her behind him.
Hyunjin took one look at Ollie then said, “Fine. You can take her.”
“Geez, I feel so loved,” Ollie placed a hand over her heart, sarcastically.
“Listen, I’ve got to be an A plus actor to pretend to have feelings for you,” Hyunjin rolled his eyes.
Ollie shrugged, smiling at him, “Well maybe you’ll win that title today, and be casted for a drama.” He watched as she winked at him, completely unfazed by his earlier jab.
“Okay, that’s enough, you too. Let’s be professional here. This is for Stays, remember?” Minho patted them both on the shoulder, squeezing Hyunjin’s just a bit.
“We can do that,” Ollie nodded her head, hoping that they could, and that it wouldn’t be too awkward. Hyunjin and Minho were chosen as the leads because they were better suited, but Ollie was chosen out of convenience (She was the only girl.) They could switch her out for another girl, but that would take too much time to rearrange and plan out. Hopefully, it wouldn't come to that.
“Yeah, I guess. I mean we play nice in front of Stays all the time,” Hyunjin said shrugging, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
“It’d be nice if one day, you two didn’t have to play pretend,” Minho folded his arms over his chest, shaking his head.
“Yeah, that would be nice,” Ollie awkwardly said, side eyeing Hyunjin, who was looking out to the soccer field.
“Maybe,” he admitted, a light blush dusting his cheeks. Ollie’s eyes went wide at the answer, and looked at Minho, who seemed just as surprised. The two figured it best not to comment on it, as to not scare him away and have him retreat.
“Okay, so why don’t we go down there and get ready to film?” Ollie suggested, pointing out where the PD and the camera crew was.
“Sounds good,” Minho answered, and the two watched as Hyunjin nodded then walked ahead of them.
“Is that progress? I can’t tell,” Ollie whispered to Minho as they started to move.
Minho shrugged, “Maybe? I have been noticing him trying a lot more lately with you, though.”
“Same,” Ollie nodded, looping arms with Minho as they descended the stairs to meet up with the others.
“I think at this point, we should let him come to you. He seems to finally be able to be in the same room as you,” Minho chuckled when saying the last part. Ollie elbowed him in the side, and he grunted.
“Oh hush,” she giggled as they joined Hyunjin and the staff.
“Ready to start?” The PD asked them, and when Ollie looked at Minho and Hyunjin, she smiled. Her smile widened, when Hyunjin returned it.
This was definitely progress.

Kdrama Cliche : Makeovers
How much I hate those makeover scenes, I cannot tell you. They’re always written to demean someone’s appearance and come down to attack on their worth as a person. These problematic ‘makeover scenes’ usually have:
An army of stylists, hairdresser, fashion designer, skincare specialists and what not
An expensive AF store where the ‘makeover’ of the century or STH goes down
A not-so-good-looking girl (as per the writer) who is helpless and forced to go through this makeover
An arrogant ass rich fella, he is the one facilitating this makeover, so that she can be worthy of standing beside him
An endless parade to the changing room, only to get approval of this rich asshole, who just sits there, rejecting every dress the lady tries. Finally settles down on something, internally falling for her ‘changed’ persona, but still being a dick, nodding as if he is doing a favor to someone
Billing shot, because we as an audience need to know how much that fucking ‘makeover’ costed to change that ugly duckling, and how easy it is for this guy to throw that much money
The ugly duckling has to leave the store being all smitten by the guy, the directors want to portray this public shaming of someone’s appearance as the act of caring
The makeover scene is not complete until and unless they show the lady making a mesmerizing entrance to a party/place/gathering or wherever the damn she was supposed to pretend to be the ultimate femme fatale. The guy feels satisfied with the people dropping their jaws, “Well, it was easy, just burned a few thousands dollars and here she is changed completely.”
I am thinking of Gu Jun Pyo giving makeover to Guem Jan Di in Boys Over Flower, while writing this and several other dramas. So please do not defend this. In every sense these scenes are extremely problematic. These need to be scrutinized more since an average South Korean person lives under the constant pressure to look good.
I thought we have came way past those scenes, but the most recent makeover scene I watched was in Suho’s ‘Rich Man’. He was shown outright rude to the lady, throwing a drink on her purposely to make her change a dress. Here
And here in 2020, with the tables turned. It’s a woman who is giving a man a makeover. And see the differences, the writers came up with such great care in order to not hurt the fragile masculinity (don’t read it as Hyun Bin’s, talking about the people in general):
Purpose: To fit well in South Korea, otherwise you are completely fine
Reaction: Not only the female lead is very appreciative of the changed looks but the store staff is swooning over him
Number of outfits changed: Not too many, only three in one store and without those disapproving unsatisfied looks. He was more than 'approved' in the very first outfit itself, if the store staff did not poke her nose and made Se Ri competitive
Payment: It’s not to show that he cannot pay that whopping amount in his entire life, but more in lines with ‘let me repay the kindness you showed back then’
Grand entrance: It straight went viral on internet!!! Because we cannot show a man being an arm-candy of a successful woman, will hurt way too many fragile egos
So yeah, here you have it, wrapped up in sweetness makeover scene.

Author Interview
I reached out to all the amazing and talented authors who wrote for the H3TrappedCollection in 2019 and they were kind enough to agree to answer some questions!
Let’s start with @dangerliesbeforeyou 💖💖
Stories written for the Collection:
Mirage
The one where Shao Fei gets sick
Interview:
How did you come into the Trapped fandom?
I watched the previous HIStory’s in 2018 & so when I saw the teaser for Trapped, I knew I’d have to watch it lol
Who’s your favourite character?
In the Trapped appreciation week, I said it was Tang Yi, but tbh it’s really a combination of him and Shao Fei (& also Hong Ye…) I just love how a lot of the characters are so well fleshed out in terms of their characterisation! (especially for Hong Ye… like a female character!? With dimension?! Madness!)
What’s your favourite trope?
Would it be too cliché if I said ‘enemies to (half)friends to lovers’ lol? It’s just such a fun dynamic to see characters grow from being rivals to falling in love… (it also speaks a lot about the growth of respect and understanding between characters which is actually often lacking in more conventional romantic tropes?)
What do you like about writing for Trapped?
It’s mainly Tangfei’s dynamic that I love to write… whether it’s missing scenes or post-show stuff, it’s just really fun to explore their relationship (as well as the dynamics and relationships of the other characters to them!)
Care to elaborate on your writing process?
… it’s mainly ‘think of a story idea – write story idea – hope to actually finished story idea – inevitably fail and forget to write for 6 months – cycle repeat’ lol… I always find if I don’t finish writing something within a few days then it’s just never getting finished… hence why the majority of my Trapped fics are oneshots lol…
Your favourite Trapped fic by another author?
Ohh man that’s really tough tbh… I’d maybe say ‘you were here, winter is gone’ by starrystars because it’s seriously so beautifully written! And the story is both depressing and super heart-warming! There’s so many brilliant fanfics in the tag though!!
What do you want to write but never had the nerve to?
Multi-chaptered fics that are 100k words long… I just have never had the patience lol… also, smut… I’ve attempted writing m rated stuff in the past but just end up cringing lol… Huge amount of kudos to any author that can write decent smut AND 100k long fics lol!
If you want, please share a snippet of your current Trapped WIP!
Unfortunately, I haven’t really got any drafts… but I DO have a few fic ideas written down in my phone notes which I’ll share (btw if anyone is interested in any of these ideas & please feel free to write them cos chances are I never will lol!) –
A Boys of Flowers insp fic (I just wanted to recreate that scene from the drama where Geum Jan Di kicks Gu Jun Pyo in the cafeteria with Tangfei instead lol…)
Pride and prejudice insp fic (I did actually start writing it… and maybe one day I’ll finish it *sigh*)
Fifi appreciation (it’s what she deserves lol)
Harry potter au (pretty sure this has already been done lol… every ship deserves it’s own few hp aus!)
Something I’ve just written as ‘Grandpa’ where it’s just shao fei roasting tang yi for being a Literal Old Man lol…
I also started writing something where Hong Ye walks in on Tangfei making out… don’t actually know where I was going with that one ngl lol…
Thank you so much @dangerliesbeforeyou for answering my questions!

Chapter 11: Popular Song
Word Count: 677
Jan di smiled looking at the table of finger foods.  It had been since breakfast since she last had a chance to eat.  During lunch she was rushed into surgery, only to be whisked away after a quick shower here.  She quickly loaded up a plate of deviled eggs and a sweet potato one that she was sure Jun Pyo made sure was there for her.  Smiling, she turned around to come face to face with a customer she used to see all the time at the soup store she use to work at when she was in high school.  The women would always order out, giving them the dirties looks in the world.
“I know you from somewhere.”  She smiled, her makeup on point as it always was.  They were both in high school at the time, yet she seemed to only get taller instead of aging.  “Oh yes, you were that grumpy looking one at the soup store my father always made me get.”  Jan di watched her eyes travel from the ground up, she felt the heat slowly coming to her face, the once over that deemed her unworthy to be in her presence.  She had that gaze a lot, she just never thought someone would be bold enough to do it at one of Jun Pyo’s investor parties.  Reaching out she grabbed one of the Sweet Potato rolls from her plate, putting it on her own.  “Why would they let a waiter dress like you in?  Here I thought the Gu Family had some decency in who waits on their VIP guests.”
“Jan Di, Jae-”  Ga eul stopped speaking the moment she looked at her friends face.  Turning her attention to the other woman, she recognized the customer from their soup days.
“Oh, your the weird one!  You two are still working together?  How sweet.”  She lifted her champagne glass, drinking the rest of it that was in the flute, before placing it on the table.  “Be a dear and get me another one.”  She walked away, arrogant as ever.  Ga Eul went to go after her, but Jan Di stopped her.  Grabbing a roll she shoved it into her mouth, letting out a sigh.
“I’m too hungry and tired to deal with her now.  She’s not worth it.”
“But-”
“We can’t cause a scene, you know how much these investor parties give them.  What did you need?”
“Jae Kyung is looking for you.  She had a present from Hong Kong, specially made.”  Jan di smiled, wrapping an arm around hers.
“She’s my favorite of Jun Pyo’s investors.”  Ga eul laughed with her friend leaving the bitterness behind.
The same woman came up to Jun Pyo.  She eyes Jan di, who was standing too close to the host to be deemed appropriate for a hired hand.  Jan di stopped her from saying something, giving a wide smile to her.
“Are you enjoying the party?”  She blinks at her wondering why she would be asking.  By this time Jun Pyo had turned around, his eyes on Jan di first, then turns his attention to the new face.
“I didn’t know you knew anyone here?”
“She’s an old acquaintance from when I worked at the soup shop.”
“Ah, I see.  Any old friend of my wifes is a friend to us.”  Jun pyo didn’t miss the shock that come over her face.  She quickly bowed, excusing herself from their presence.  “So, whenever she gets the courage to try and talk to me again, should I invest in her?”
“Do whatever you like.  If her product is worth the money then do it.”
“Don’t.”  Ga eul came, handing a glass of champagne to Jan di.  “She was rude.  As usual.”  She took a sip of her drink, smiling when Yi Jung put an around her waist.
“Then I promise to never sell her any of my works.”
“I highly doubt she has anything I want.”  Jun pyo kissed Jan Di’s head.  “At least not one that would make me chose someone like her over my wife.”

3 is my favorite number, so how about multiples of 3? Which is gonna be a lot of questions so just do however many you want.
Oh no, you asked for all of them, I’m going to do all of them. :P
3: How old are you and how old do you get mistaken for?
... except this one, I already answered it.
6: Your opinion about your body and how comfortable you are with it
Ah, right into the heavy things! I mean. Sort of. It’s complicated.
See, I like my body. I’m slender without trying, taller than average (even though my family makes me feel short), I’m graceful-- I love to dance, I always have, and that brings with is a certain poise, and an awareness of where my body is at all times, which is both practical and attractive, in a way most people don’t notice. I have incredibly long, dark eyelashes my friends are often jealous of, cheekbones that could cut glass, and thick, luscious hair. I’m gorgeous, and androgyny comes naturally to me. There was a brief time in high school where I wished I had bigger breasts, but I quickly learned that what I have is convenient and that there were plenty of people who found me desirable anyway.
But I’m also trans. I’m nonbinary, I don’t really want the world to perceive me as a man-- though I might prefer it to being consistently seen as a woman. But there are certain things about my body that are dissatisfying to me, and unfortunately, current medical options don’t really interest me.
So-- my body is great, it’s just... not the one I wish I had.
9: What are you really bad at?
Anything that requires me to come up with anything original. It’s why I cosplay instead of, like, write or draw-- all I have to do is figure out how to do something, not what to do.
12: What do you think about the most?
At the moment, Gu Jun-pyo. It varies a lot, overall, I’m just hyperfixated right now.
15: What is your favorite word?
... oh. I answered this one already, too.
18: A reason you’ve lied to someone
Because I didn’t have the social energy to go out but didn’t think they would understand so I said I wasn’t feeling well. I do it often, lol, and there are only a few select people I actually tell the real reason to.
21: Do you believe in love at first sight?
To be perfectly honest I’m not entirely certain what “love” is-- my aromantic ass has a lot of trouble with the concept. So no, I don’t believe one can fall in love in an instant like that, but I admit my own personal bias is in play when it comes to that belief.
24: Opinion on relationship age differences
Depends on the age difference and the relationship. Some of the strongest, most loving marriages I know are between people that have a significant age gap, which would probably fall under the “creepy” umbrella if I didn’t know them. That said, people who prey on those younger than them are creepy as hell and pedophiles can die in a fire.
27: Have you ever wanted someone you couldn’t have?
I’m fairly sure that is a thing in everyone’s life, at some point. Pro-tip: it’s not easier if the other person wants you, too.
30: Have you ever liked your best friend?
I’m sure this is going off of the middle school definition of “like” but it’s still kind of a hilarious question. I have often liked my best friend.
33: What turns you off?
It would be easier to list the things that don’t, tbh.
36: Do you forgive betrayal?
I’m honestly struggling to think of a time I have felt that someone betrayed me.
39: How often do you listen to music?
Less than you might think. I prefer to have movies or shows in the background for noise, other than when I am driving.
42: Favorite type of movie
Scifi/fantasy with a saccharine ending. I’m a sucker for happily ever after. It’s why I watch a fuckton of Disney.
45: Do you fall in love easily?
Emphatically not. I know that I am capable of it, I’ve felt it at least once, but. I don’t call myself “aromantic” for no reason. I don’t feel any desire to seek out romantic relationships and I do not (often) feel romantically attracted to anyone. Doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy being in a romantic relationship, I’m just trying to be more honest with myself about what I am looking for/able to offer.
48: Are you a forgiving person? Do you like being that way?
The answer above about betrayal might give you a hint, but it’s not the whole story. I will forgive anything; I do not hold onto grudges or hurt. But at some point I will just... forget you. I will walk away and we will never see each other again, and you won’t even enter my thoughts after a while-- a very short while, in some cases.
And I don’t know whether I like that about myself. I kind of think of myself as cold-hearted and careless with other people, which... I don’t love about myself.
... that got a bit darker than intended, lol. But! If you want to know the answers to the two-thirds not answered here, send me a thing!

Ok ok so let me give you a summary then 😅🙂
So basically, the series start this way:
On a delivery for her family's dry cleaners, Geum Jan-di saves a student from jumping off the roof of the famously elite Shinhwa High School. Hoping to avoid further scandal, Kang Hee-soo orders her secretary Jung Sang-rok to offer Jan-di a scholarship to Shinhwa. She does not want to accept it, having heard about the F4, but is forced by her family. The F4, made up of Gu Jun-pyo, Yoon Ji-hoo, So Yi-jung , and Song Woo-bin, are the school's richest students and basically act like tyrants. Jan-di tries not to get involved with them, but intervenes when Jun-pyo becomes angry at her new friend Oh Min-ji. He later sends her a red card, causing the others to start bullying her.
That's the official summary I wrote here, cause I'm shit at summaries 😬😬😂
But the point is, Jun di is from a poor family, and before these events she used to go to a normal school, but after she gets the scholarship, she goes to Shinhwa because her family really want her to. And that's where she meets the infamous F4 😂😂 who, are mostly spoiled brats, specially Joon Pyo, and they practically rule the entire school. They have red cards, which are the cards given to whoever F4 doesn't like, for any reasons. And that means the whole school will bully that person until they get dropped out 😬😬 No one really dares to stand against them... Till Jun di comes 😎😎 and not surprisingly, she receives a red cart soon 😬😬😂 and the shit begins 😬😂
Gu Jun-pyo is the leader of the F4 and a student at Shinhwa School. He is the heir of Shinhwa Group.
Tumblr media
And there is Ji hoo, who is also from a very rich family, and he's a violinist :) he's a softie, really. Unlike Jun Pyo who's a little shit and enjoys doing shits 😂 (he's also the boy Jan di has a crush on at first 😂)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is Yi jeong, also very rich, and a ceramic artist. He's also the group play boy 😏😂😂
Tumblr media
And then we have Woo-bin, another member of F4. He's usually with Yi jeong, they're besties 🤭🤭😎
Tumblr media
And at last we have Jun di, a brave funny lil shit 🤭😂
Tumblr media
And her bestie, Ga eul ^^ (who later falls for a certain play boy 🙄😬😂😂) she doesn't go to Shinhwa though. She's just poor like Jun di, but they're always glued together outside of school ^^
Tumblr media
And the last one is Seo-hyun. Who is a childhood friends of F4. She's specially close to Ji hoo. And also, she's about two or three years older than them. She's Ji hoo's first love ( who am I kidding, she's the only one, really 🤷🏼‍♀️😂)
Tumblr media
Sooooooo 😂 yupppp! A malec au with Alec as the rich spoiled nephelim brat ^^ Magnus as the little salty warlock who goes to the Idris highschool and gives him hell 😎😂
And then we have Jem and Tessa as Ji hoo and Seo hyun 🥺🥺🥺
And Clary and Jace as Ga eul and Yi jeong ^^
Also Emma and Jace are besties ^^ so are Clary and Magnus and Alec and Jem ^^
Sooooooo now ladies magic me one please 😍😍😂😂😂
Ok, but hear me out, we need a boys over flowers! malec au, In Idris highschool, with the Lightwood siblings (Alec and Jace) + Carstairs cousins (Jem+ Emma) as F4, Alec as Goo Joon Pyo, Magnus as Jan-di, Jem as Ji-hoo, Jace as Yi-jeong, Emma as Woo-bin, Clary as Ga-eul, Tessa as Seo-hyun Because I wanna see Jem/Alec, Emma/Jace and Clary/Magnus brotp but also because I want to see Jem being a violinist 🥺🥺🥺 (and all four of them being F4 so we can thirst over them obviously 😏😂😂😂)
*crying cause I have no idea what you're talking about* 😭😭😭😭 I do the sound of all those brotps tho!!

Geum Jan Di watched her first friend from Shinhwa High walk way,  she couldn't look away from his back, strong and broad. Jan-Di smiled softly until he was swallowed by the crowd and even then she stood, eyes unfocused fingers rubbing where his lips were minutes earlier. 'Good job, sunbae.' She thought before shaking her head slightly.
The other members of the F4 gang stood watching her, all concerned for their new friend. So Yi-Jung and Song Woo-Bin were contemplating how to cheer her up when Gun Jun-Pyo interjected. "Aish, Let's go. I can cheer you up." He reached for her hand but she skipped out of the way.
"Thank but not needed. I am fine. I will miss him but he promised me that he would be happy this way. I decided I am going to trust sunbae. I am going to head home." Jan-Di declined his offer and that second her phone rang. "Hello? Did you get to your gate okay? Sunbae, did you forget something?" She laughed lightly. She listened for a moment. "No. I was just leaving. I will be fine, I told you that two days ago." Jan-Di rolled her eyes. "Safe travels, sunbae. Call me when you land, yeah? I will call Unnie if you don't." She laughed again, before growing quiet. "Bye Ji-Hoo." She snapped her phone shut, taking a deep breath. "Okay, I am now heading home. Woo-Bin sunbae, Yi-Jung sunbae, Jun-Pyo, thank for letting me accompany you to seeing Ji-Hoo sunbae off. I will be leaving first then." She bowed to them before leaving the airport. F3 watching her as she did.
"You think she will really be okay?" Yi-Jung asked.
Woo-Bin shrugged. "Were they really that close? The had run ins, yeah. but like when did they swap numbers? When did they get this close?"
"Probably Seo-Hyun noona's doing." Yi-Jung said. "Ji-Hoo was saying about how he had plans the other day. Wonder if they had plans together, he had been unreasonably moody a few days ago."
"Enough about those two. Let's go." Jun-Pyo demanded. The other two nodded and they left the airport.
A few days had passed. Shinhwa High was the same, Jan-Di was bullied by the other students but it wasn't as intense, however some of the girls had taken offense at her being the reason of their beloved Ji-Hoo leaving. Jan-Di was trying to balance school, her family, bullies, a job and the demands the F3 members put on her as their 'mascot'. She had been enjoying her lunch when it was rudely interrupted by a screaming crowd. She looked up expected Yi-Jung and Woo-Bin together or Jun-Pyo by himself based of the shrillness of the screams. However there wasn't anyone by their entrance. She turned back to her lunch but was distracted by a shadow on her table and the complete silence of the room. She looked up, swallowing her last bite of food in her mouth. She jumped up throwing her arms around his neck.
"Ji-Hoo sunbae! I missed you! Why didn't you tell me you were returning? Wait, why are you here? What about Seo-Hyun unnie? When did you get back? Did you see the others?" Jan-Di rattled off, letting go of Ji-Hoo. Ji-Hoo smiled down at the girl, who was frantically packing up her things.
"What's wrong?" Ji-Hoo asked. “Didn’t you miss me?”
"It's not my place to offer but I think a venue change will do us both some good. I can feel my skin melting from the heat of the glares coming my way. And you don't like being the center of attention." Jan-Di explained. Ji-Hoo only nodded slightly in agreement, wondering again at how she learned to read him so quickly.
"Since you are only thinking of my benefit, I will suggest the F4 clubhouse. It technically is my place to offer. Shall we?" Ji-Hoo offered his arm and together they slipped through the crowd. Once free Ji-Hoo began answer Jan-Di's questions.
"I wanted to surprise you. That is why I didn't tell you. I came back for a few reasons, Seo-Hyun noona is fine, she told me to tell you hello and also she requests that you text her more often. I got back yesterday but needed to get settled and the guys knew I was coming back. I told them to keep it a secret from you." Ji-Hoo explained while preparing tea. "Yi-Jung kept me up to date on the going-ons over here." He looked at Jan-Di pointedly. she avoided his gaze, able to string a sentence together. She ran her index finger around the rim of her teacup, no longer concerned about her lunch.
"Jun-Pyo and the others kept me company when...I was alone. I would try to get them to lay off but you know how they are." Jan-Di shrugged, still speaking into her cup. "I tried and tried but...but I didn't mind. I will say that they calmed down significantly though, once the newness of me wore off." She smiled up at Ji-Hoo. "Don't worry, I still refuse to call Jun-Pyo sunbae. He seems tense lately though."
Ji-Hoo sat down with a sigh, shaking his head. "I am sorry. I feel responsible for your torment with them. I shouldn't have left." Ji-Hoo took a sip of tea looking into the middle distance. "Jun-Pyo is trying to comprehend where you stand. Not often does he have someone in his life solely for the sake of being there. However your presence may be causing trouble for him as well. We will have to see." Ji-Hoo trailed off.
"What are you saying, Ji-Hoo sunbae?" Jan-Di asked. Ji-Hoo smiled softly.
"I am not saying anything. I know that a girl like you is shaking things up just by being as close as you are. Take no offense, please." Ji-Hoo ruffled her bangs. "Class will be starting soon. I will see you later." Ji-Hoo helped Jan-Di out of her chair, taking the tea tray out of her hands.
"It's nice to know that I wasn't too late." He murmured under his breath turning away. Jan-Di watched him walk away wanting to ask what he meant but decided to keep quiet.
"Sunbae, I need to hand to the science labs, so I will see you later." Jam-Di said.
"Better hurry, don't want you being late on account of me and all." Ji-Hoo uncharacteristically hesitated. Jan-Di waited. "Do-Can-I mean-Can I see you after class? I can take you home after?" Ji-Hoo asked.
"Of course, our spot?" Jan-Di confirmed. He nodded. Jan-Di beamed up at him, eye twinkling and teeth showing. Her happiness making his breath catch. "Ji-Hoo sunbae, I am glad you are back. I missed you."
"What am I supposed to say to that?" Ji-Hoo asked. Jan-di looked up at him in confusion. He huffed a laugh and leaned down bringing his hands up to her cheeks.
Ji-Hoo pressed his lips to Jan-Di's forehead, lingering for a moment.
"I will see you after class. Now get going." Ji-Hoo pulled away, relishing in the stunned look on Jan-Di's face. ‘Is this how she looked after I kissed her in the airport? How did I ever walk away from her?'
The day came to an end. The school halls echoing with the frantic whispers of the students, rumors already flying about what happened at lunch. Jan-Di was glad for the rumors, it turned everyone's attention away from her and back to F4 who had finally been reconnected. She left her last class nerves finally catching up with her. 'I thought I was over him, but he comes back and I am just as lost as before.' She thought to herself. Distracted as she was, she didn't notice Gu Jun-Pyo right outside, The girls were screaming but she missed even that.
"Hey, Laundry-Girl. You really going to ignore me like that? Where are you manners?" He demanded. Jan-Di stopped, turning to him, dropping into a bow.
"Sorry, Jun-Pyo. I didn't see you there. Did you need something? I am in a slight hurry. If it can wait, I will call you." Jan-Di said. Jun-Pyo peered at her closely.
"Are you sick or some shit? You are never this nice to me. What is going on with you?" Jun-Pyo demanded. Jan-Di ran her hands through her hair. She reached out and grabbed his hand.
"Can I ask you a question? Nevermind. I am fine. I have to go." Jan-Di pulled away. Jun-Pyo grabbed her hand again.
"He came all this way for you. He didn't want to leave in the first place. if you have taught me anything, it is to trust in my feelings. Also you are no coward. Just go. okay?" Jun-Pyo said.
"Gu Jun-Pyo are you trying to cheer me up? The great Gu Jun-Pyo is worried about little old Geum Jan-Di?" Jan-Di laughed, her smile not fading. "I'm not scared, I will have you know."
"I know that. I was just reminding you. And I am more concerned you depressed attitude would have on my friends. especially Ji-Hoo if you planned on rejecting him." Jun-Pyo waved off a girl who was trying to get his attention. "Speaking of, you should get going. Don't make him wait too long." Jun-Pyo playfully ruffed her hair. "contrary to this school rumor mill, I am glad to have met you, Laundry-Girl. That is the last time I will say anything on the subject. Now get going." Jun-Pyo nudged her firmly in the direction of the doors.
"Thanks Jun-Pyo. You really are a good friend." Jan-Di finally let her smile fall. "I will be leaving first then." Jan-Di hurried to her locker and then walked down the familiar path to the bench where she first saw Ji-Hoo playing the violin.
As Jan-Di walked she couldn't help but think back on the few moments they had shared together, the many times he had saved her from emotional humiliations and physical hurts. The more she thought on Ji-Hoo the more she realized that she was never over him. She made him leave-pushed him away hoping he would find happiness, not wanting her selfishness to be what brought him sadness. 'Am I what he really wants? Am I only convenient? He is too good for me. Maybe this is a mistake...' Jan-Di stopped a few feet away from the bench.
Ji-Hoo sat perfectly poised and patiently waiting. She stepped forward, the sound of her shoes catching his attention. He looked up, smiling wide, Jan-Di felt her anxiousness ease slightly. "Jan-Di, I am glad to see you again. I have something-"
"Why did you come back really? Seo-Hyun unnie was what you wanted isn't it? what could have happened to bring you all the way back here so quickly. And don't tell me it was me. If I am the cause of your sadness, I don't know what I will do." Jan-Di's voice cracked slightly, eyes beginning to sting.
"Jan-Di, I did come back for you. but you have never once since meeting you ever thought you brought me sadness. You have only brought me happiness. You expanded my horizons, showed me how to look inside myself. This trip to Paris was only to confirm what I already knew. I loved Seo-Hyun habitually. I once loved her but I grew up and at some point realized our relationship was better when platonic rather than romantic." Ji-Hoo said. He stopped seeing Jan-Di's anxiety was not soothed, he pulled her into a tight hug. "I love you, Geum Jan-Di. I have for a while now, it just took me too long to realize that. I was afraid I was too late and someone had swept in during my absence to heal your broken heart."
"No. No one. I made my position as F4 mascot very clear while you were away and spent the few days running from their demands." Jan-Di said. She froze finally understanding what Ji-Hoo said. "Sunbae, are you-did you-I am-what?" She gaped at the older man. He laughed and nodded, tightening his embrace.
"Yes, ma'am. I said what I said. Let me have the honor of dating you, please." Ji-Hoo pressed a kiss into her hair. He tried to keep the nerves out of his voice.
"Ji-Hoo sunbae, you really mean that don't you? You love me? As much as I love you? I was so happy when I heard Seo-Hyun was leaving, I thought maybe you would finally see me. But then I realized I would rather have you as a friend then not at all so I held back. I couldn't stomach the idea of you together, I just kept my brave face on hoping that I would be over you by the time you got back and then you came back and I wasn't over you. I wasn't over you, Yoon Ji-Hoo." Jan-Di's voice broke on a small sob and with it Ji-Hoo's heart. "I love you too." Jan-Di cried. Ji-Hoo pulled away using his fingers to wipe her tears before pulling her into a gentle kiss, tasting of salt.
"Don't cry, my darling. Everything is fine." Ji-Hoo said. Jan-Di sniffled trying to pull herself together. "I am sorry, I made you cry again."
"I'm fine. I am just a little overwhelmed." Jan-Di took a deep breath, shaky on the exhale. "Let's get some tea, yeah?"
"Yeah. It'll be my treat." Ji-Hoo tucked Jan-Di's arm in his and together they walked to his motorcycle.
*******************************************************************************************
So what did you think? a very niche pairing in a very niche fandom. It was just to make me feel better. This will be part of a series: The Miscellaneous Adventures of Geum Jan-Di and Yoon Ji-Hoo.

Boys Over Flowers, episode 6
Let’s keep this madness train rolling!
Things take a turn for the worse. Multiple times. I'm beginning to think it's a rule in this show that no one is allowed to be happy for more than ten minutes of screen time per episode. When we last left Jan Di and Jun Pyo, they were  enjoying a nice lunch together on a beach in New Caledonia. The sun, the  sea, the fine dining, and this:
Tumblr media
Baby oh baby.
Tumblr media
My eyes! They burn! Yet I can't... look... away...
Tumblr media
I'm too sexy for my shirt.
Tumblr media
Ignoring you now. Make it stop.
Tumblr media
Jun Pyo used Strip! It's super effective!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
K.O. After being temporarily immobilized by Jun Pyo's abs, Jan Di rises to face him.
Tumblr media
 Can I tell you something?
Tumblr media
Here it comes, her confession of love. Come to papa.
Tumblr media
There's a snake near your feet.
Tumblr media
!
Tumblr media
The future of Shinhwa, ladies and gentlemen.
Tumblr media
If I'm lucky, he'll keep running and never come back. Later, Ga Eul witnesses Jan Di in some kind of trouble (leg cramps while swimming).
Tumblr media
My best friend is drowning! I'll just stand here and watch. They're in about four feet of water, and Ga Eul's response is to stand in even  shallower water screaming Jan Di's name. What a friend.
Jun Pyo is simultaneously having some kind of flashbacks about being in trouble underwater, so he's pretty useless as well.
Tumblr media
Luckily Ji Hoo watches a lot of Baywatch.
Tumblr media
He's like David Hasselhoff, with half the Hassel and twice the Hoff. Upset by his inability to help Jan Di, Jun Pyo decides to make himself useful and helps prepare dinner for everyone. He even saves a special seat for Jan Di and makes sure she gets enough to eat.
Tumblr media
Clearly she is thrilled.
Tumblr media
As is Ji Hoo. He excuses himself without having touched his food. It seems he didn't remember to pack his violin, which is a shame because this is a perfect "I'm depressed and lonely so I'm going to play a mournful tune on my violin" moment. Instead he talks with a young local girl, who lifts his spirits by giving him flowers for his girlfriend.
Tumblr media
Which reminds him that he doesn't have a girlfriend. Far away from Ji Hoo's never-ending sea of anguish, it seems that Jan Di is thinking that vacation with F4 wasn't such a bad idea after all.  Heck, she practically got a free striptease.
Tumblr media
Yeah she did. Jan Di goes out walking and finds Ji Hoo, still trapped in a spiraling vortex of despair.
Tumblr media
I'd recognize that aura of misery anywhere.
Tumblr media
Are you here to join me in my suffering? They discuss Seo Hyun. Ji Hoo says it’s for the best that she left; it seems that he doesn't consider himself worthy of her anyway. He asks Jan Di to take the flowers he received earlier, but she declines, believing that Ji Hoo should not give up on Seo Hyun.
Tumblr media
blah blah sad blah sad sad blah As Jan Di gets up to leave, Ji Hoo pulls her into an embrace.
Tumblr media
Things are considerably brighter the next day. Good times are had by all (except Jun Pyo, who's sulking again).
Tumblr media
Jan Di and Yoon Ji Hoo go fishing, and appear to have a lot of fun in each other's company.
Tumblr media
Ga Eul fools around with her camera, which, if you look closely, is actually turned off the entire time. Apparently no one on set that day  had any batteries. So Yi Jung arrives and questions her about Jan Di's intentions, specifically, who's she's interested in. Ga Eul plays it cool, so Yi Jung inquires about her instead. Ga Eul isn't pursuing anyone at the moment, but she believes in true love, and she believes that one day she'll find it.
Tumblr media
True love? What an interesting idea. Elsewhere,  Jun Pyo takes Jan Di to see some sort of field that's naturally   shaped like a heart, and tells her that it was something he wanted to show the girl he liked.
Tumblr media
He pats himself on the back, oblivious to Jan Di's troubled expression.
Tumblr media
That night, news of Seo Hyun's engagement reaches F4. It seems that Ji Hoo has known about this for some time. Distracted by her concern for Ji Hoo, Jan Di is in no mood for Jun Pyo's   romantic advances, which are more like "Love me. Soon. Or else." She goes looking for Ji Hoo, and cries for him.
Suddenly, he makes a move!
Tumblr media
And talk about lifeless. It looked like a Barbie and Ken doll kissing. I thought maybe one or both of them had fallen asleep, it was such a boring kiss. Korean TV standards, I guess?
Tumblr media
Anyway,  it happened at the worst possible time. Jun Pyo is enraged and tells Jan Di that despite all the unfortunate coincidences so far, he really wanted to believe in her, and in them. So much for that. He ends their friendship (and whatever else might have been).
Tumblr media
Heartbreaker? Or just broken-hearted?
Tumblr media
It's going to be an awkward plane ride home. Fortunately for everyone's sanity, Jun Pyo leaves by himself without telling anyone. The homeboys are confused and worried.
Tumblr media
Hey, do either of you know why Jun Pyo left early? No? Okay then. So  everyone goes home. Jan Di feels generally awful about everything,   especially about causing pain to Jun Pyo. Fortunately, there is no awkwardness between her and Ji Hoo.
Tumblr media
Still friends!
Tumblr media
Bad news. Jun Pyo announces to the school that Ji Hoo is no longer a part of F4. Moreover, both Ji Hoo  and Jan Di are to be expelled from the school!
Tumblr media
Say what?! He can do that?!
Tumblr media
Dude, that is way harsh!
Tumblr media
I hate my life.
Tumblr media
Gu Jun Pyo has spoken! Don't forget, Jun Pyo's mother is Darth Shinhwa herself, so he can totally do it.
The student body seems ready to turn against Jan Di (again) for splitting up their beloved F4. Luckily, this time Ji Hoo stands up for her and tells her to stay positive (although honestly I don't think she would really mind the chance to escape from Shinhwa Penitentiary, except for the trouble it would cause her parents).
Tumblr media
These two against the terrifying corporate machine that is Shinhwa? I'm not liking those odds.
Tumblr media
At least Ji Hoo’s got his violin. To be continued...

Caught Up Chapter 3 - New Girl
"Nice to meet you, Sir."
"You don't have to call me that. Very well, the team and I are off duty today so you'll meet everyone tomorrow. I have to go."
Lee Hyeri paused and took another look at the station after she walked out of it. She heaved a sigh when she remembered his team leader that she just met awhile ago.
Ryu Jun Yeol
Hyeri thinks he looked strict and arrogant. But their meeting was quite quick so she decided to shake off the first impression and give him another chance. But of course, she's hoping for the best.
"I'll find out tomorrow."
Hyeri arrived in Jangan-gu yesterday and she thought she'll have to immediately report to work, she decided to postpone getting her things settled in her new apartment.
But since she'll officially start working tomorrow, she decided to go home instead.
Being late at work got her in trouble and was the reason why she was transferred. Because of this obvious reason that she decided to rent an apartment that is only 3 blocks away from the station. It's not exactly ideal but she thought it's for the best.
She cannot mess it up again. Not this time.
Not in Jangan Police Department.
She met the old man again earlier.
After 4 years, they meet again.
"Ahhh! I'm not here for him. I'm here to work. Get it together, Lee Hyeri!" She brushed off the thought and went straight home. Day 1.
Fortunately, Hyeri arrived at the station right on time. On the dot. She's not late on her first day at work and it's a good thing. As soon as she arrived, she went straight to her desk that was assigned to her yesterday.
But the other desks around her are still empty. Did she arrived way too early that everyone from the team are late?
She held her head high as she get her things settled on her new desk. She was having her own little proud moment when the door of the conference room parallel to her team's bay came wide open, popping out few men and - to her surprise - including Jin Goo and Ryu Jun Yeol.
"Good morning, Sir." She politely greeted Jun Yeol as soon as he walked up to her.
"I believe I already told you not to call me that." He said with a flat tone.
"Ah. Joseonghamnida.. Sunbae."
"You're late." "Ne?" She was taken aback.
"I said you are late. And on your first day, Hyeri-ssi." "Uhm, I'm not late. I got here on time, Sunbae." "Ahh. You're new. Well, just so you know, I always require my team to be at work 30minutes before regular hours which means you should be here by 7:30 AM. And since it is your first day, I believe should have been polite enough to be here earlier than expected. Right, Ms. Lee Hyeri?" "Uhhhh.." Hyeri is at a loss for words. She knew that being a new transferee will be tough but not this tough.
"I often conduct team huddles before getting to work. Since you are late, you obviously missed the meeting we just had about today's team agenda." "I'm sorry, Sunbae. I didn't know." She said with her head down. Obviously, she got transferred from one asshole boss to another. "Whatever. Okay, since you missed the meeting. You are on desk duty for now." Then he walked past her. At least he didn't asked me to get his coffee. Or so she thought. Ryu Jun Yeol paused, turned to her and said.. "And coffee. You're on coffee duty. Go get everyone their morning coffee then I'll introduce you when you get back. Hurry." Hyeri heaved a deep sigh as she watch his back walk further away from her desk. "Uggghhh? What have I gotten myself into?" "Trouble." "Yah, kkamjjagiya!" "Oh, sorry." A tall, fair-complexed pretty boy smiled and stood beside her. He also saw him got out of the conference room earlier with Ryu Jun Yeol. "Sorry about that, I'm Go Kyung Pyo. I'm part of the team. You're the transferee from Gwangju, right? Welcome to Jangan-gu." Finally. Someone nice enough to welcome me. Finally. "Ah. Annyeong! I'm Lee Hyeri." They shook hands and it was nice to see him smiling the entire time. Kyung Pyo is very welcoming. "Tough first day, huh?" "Tell me about it." "It's going to be fine. Well, I'd love to introduce you to the team but I heard Jun Yeol sunbae said he'll do it after you get coffee so, I'll let him be. He'll be furious if I do it." "Is he that bad?" "I wouldn't say that. He can be a little rough sometimes but he's nice, too. It just gets hard when he's pissed off." "Oh. I should get going, then. I think I already pissed him off enough." "Yeah.." "Uhm, Sunbae. Can I ask you something?" "Sure, what is it?" "What kind of coffee should I get and how many?" Go Kyung Pyo gave out a light laugh that made her heart swoon a little. She liked the sound of that.
Self, stop.
"You can get Americano for 5." "I see. Thank you! I'll go now." "Arasso." She left her bag on her desk, picked up her wallet and immediately ran out of the office to get her team and her grumpy boss some coffee. As soon as she got back, Ryu Jun Yeol introduced her to the team as "the new girl". It was so quick that she didn't catch anyone's name except the ones she already heard like Jin Goo's and Kyung Pyo's. Jun Yeol went back to his office after the introduction that barely lasted a minute and she had to approach the other teammates just to get their names. Around 10:00 in the morning, two of her teammates left the station to check on something that they apparently discussed during the team. Thirty minutes after that, Junyeol left with JinGoo and KyungPyo to checl on something as well. She asked her leader if there's something she needs to do. All she got was a blank stare for 10 seconds and an order saying "sort out the files and cases on my table then go home when you're done." And so she did. Even though it felt like working on a school project instead of working as an actual cop. She finished everything by 2:00 PM and as a sign of respect, she waited for everyone to return. She decided to leave the office and call it a day when it's already 7 in the evening and none of her teammates has come back. Day 2. To make sure she won't be greeted with lectures early in the morning, Lee Hyeri arrived 45 minutes before the regular working hours. One by one, her teammates arrived as she welcomed them with a smile. The last one to arrive was the guy named Bong Sun who arrived 15 minutes before 8:00 AM. "Why isn't he here yet? I thought the huddle starts 30 minutes before 8?" She asked herself.
Whistling with his sunglasses still on, Ryu Jun Yeol arrived at the office at exactly 8:00 AM. On the freaking dot. Just like she did yesterday. He walked past the entire team after waving a hand to them and went straight to his own little cubicle.    Hyeri shook off the annoyance she feels towards her arrogant boss as she prepared herself for the huddle she's expecting to take place any minute now. 8:30 AM... 9:00 AM... 9:30 AM... 10:30 AM... It was at 10:45 AM when he walked out of his office wearing a cap as he called Bong Sun and Kyung Pyo, asking them to come with him. Before they got out, she politely and bravely called him and asked.. "Sunbae!" "Who was that?" "Lee Hyeri. Here!" "Oh. What is it?" "Aren't we going to have a meeting?" "No."
"No?" "Yeah, no." "But you said..." "Yeah. I said, "often", didn't I? I said often, not everyday, Ms. Lee Hyeri. Back to work." Then there goes.. "Back to work." "Back to work? What work?! UGH!" And that's how it went for the rest of the week. She goes to work on time, the meeting is over. She arrives even an hour early, there's no meeting or even a word for the entire day. It was as if he was purposely making her miss a meeting. It was at 10:00 AM of her 10th day at the new station when once again, she arrived early and no meeting was conducted. His asshole boss came out of his office carrying a bag and asked Jin Goo to come with him. She called his attention twice but he kept ignoring her. Then she had enough.. She ran after them and then.. "RYU JUN YEOL SUNBAE!" Her voice echoed through the entire police department that made Ryu Jun Yeol stop on his track. With a smug frowned face, he face her. Without breaking the frightening eye contact, he slowly walked up to her. "Step into my office, Ms. Lee Hyeri. Now." Right there and then, she wished the floor would swallow her down. But then she thought.. It's now or never, Lee Hyeri.

'Should of Love' Son Ye-jin became ill with sepsis
New Post has been published on http://www.whatsupkpop.com/should-of-love-son-ye-jin-became-ill-with-sepsis/
'Should of Love' Son Ye-jin became ill with sepsis
Kim Jung-hyun was shot and bleeded. Hyun-bin and Ji-hye Ji showed tears of despair in their crisis.
On the 15th, the TVN Saturday drama ‘Non-Trial of Love’ (played by Park Ji-eun / Director Lee Jung-hyo) was shown on the 15th episode of Lee Jung-hyuk (Hyun Bin). At this time, NIS agents surrounded the two, and Cho Chul Kang warned, “If you shoot me, you will die.” Lee Jung-hyeok avoided the gun shot by the NIS agents, but Cho-Cheol was hit by all the bullets and fell.
“I sent you all the evidence that you and her were together. My parents would be executed when you went back.” If you dig to the end, your father will be there, so it’s covered. “
He said, “Your father would like you to die here.” “You are like me. There is no place to go. No matter how you go up, you are arrested here, but your parents die. So let’s go together.” Eventually, Lee Jung Hyuk aimed the gun at his head, but was finally captured by NIS agents.
At the hospital, North Korean troops were captured, including Pyo-Soo (Bang Yang-Won), Park Kwang-Bum (Lee Shin-Young), Kim Ju-Muk (Yu-Subin), and Geum Eun-Dong (Tang Jun-Sang). Yun Seri cried as they were dragged away. Yun Se-hyung lucked up the National Security Law and tried to buy his father’s heart again by taking advantage of the fact that Lee was a North Korean soldier, Lee Jung-hyuk. Nevertheless, my father did not get stuck, and Go Sang-ah (Yun Ji-min), “I have a lot of things to do,” showed a relaxed appearance.
The NIS looked at Lee’s whereabouts in the Republic of Korea, but all of them were murky videos. When asked about the reason for coming to South Korea, Lee said, “I decided to take the conglomerate Yoon Se-ri to my country. “But I couldn’t pull it in. All this was my will. The men are innocent.”
Yun Se-ri heard this from the NIS agent and said, “He’s lying now. I’ve never convinced me to stay. I tried to send me from the beginning to the end.” “I never tried to take it, I never tried to take advantage of it. Cho steel came down from the north to kill me, and he came down to catch the steel that had come down in crime. “I should send him safely. I will solve or punish the rest of the problems here.”
Confrontational testimony eventually led to face-to-face investigation. Lee Jung-hyuk treated him cool and did not see his eyes. Lee Jung-hyuk barely noticed the words “Please look at me.” Yoon Se-ri said, “I know why you are doing this. It’s because of me. I’m going to be in trouble if it’s been revealed. “It’s not like that. Listen, you already know, my father is the chief political officer. I’m not anyone there.” Replied.
At the same time, Lee Jung-hyuk said, “If you hadn’t identified yourself from the beginning, you wouldn’t have,” he said. “Your status was great. Lee also added, “Of course, I had an hour together, so I couldn’t say that everything was serious. So I’m talking about this now. “I came here to take advantage of you who fell in North Korea in an accident and took my weakness”, but Yoon Se-ri asked, “Is the person who tried to use me almost get shot by me and come here to protect me?”
“Don’t be mistaken,” Lee said, “Cho Steel was my brother’s enemy, and I came to repay the enemy. So I’d like to stop the funny misunderstanding.” Yun-seri shouted, “Aren’t you going home? If you keep trying to turn it over like this, you become a real criminal. Do you know what that means?” Lee Jung-hyuk asked, “Yoon Seri, it’s more painful to see you now than to blow up my whole life. So please stop.” Yoon Se-ri said, “Mr. Lee Jung-hyuk, you’re going to have a hard time.” Lee Jung-hyeok shed tears when he learned that Yoon-se-ri fell.
Yun Seri was diagnosed with sepsis. Lee Jung-hyuk ran to hear that Yoon-seri was in intensive care because of sepsis and is now in danger. Yoon Se-ri returned to the day she left in North Korea due to a paragliding accident. And I confessed that “the choice to go through everything from the beginning to meet you again. I knew I would make a dangerous and sad choice when I met you and turned around and met you and knew you and loved you.” After making a confession, “I was happy to make that choice.” Lee was standing with a face of shock and despair.
Meanwhile, Gu Seung-jun (Kim Jeong-hyun) is being chased. He hid in the village, where he reunited with the West (Seo Ji-hye) and informed him of the situation he had to leave. Ku Seung-jun, who is sad to the uncle who does not hold onto, confessed that “I lived my own way and lived hard and came to breathe and eventually I was the bottom.” He also put a ring on, saying, “I know a guy like me can’t do this to a girl like him, but I want to give it.” Gu Seung-jun continued, “I’m sorry. That’s right. The ring that you gave me. Give me one chance. “
As soon as the two broke up at the airport, the West was captured hostage, and Gu Seung-jun threatened by phone. Gu Seung-jun said, “It has nothing to do with me,” but torn her plane ticket and went to save the West. Gu Seung-jun appeared at the abduction site with a gun. He tried to save the West by shooting guns at the gangsters, but he was shot and wounded. The hurdle hurried towards the fallen Gu Seung-jun, who looked at the hurdle running towards him and narrated, “I was wrong. There was someone to cry for me when I died. Xidan was eager to catch Gu Seung-jun, who couldn’t open his eyes from an ambulance.

I’m not really a big fan of C-dramas or Meteor Garden, but who will forget this phenomenal drama that started from a Japanese manga until it became a TV series that probably has the most remakes? Taiwanese, Korean, Indonesian, and now a Chinese remake!
The Meteor Garden fever has surely converted people of all ages into fans, not just of the drama but the fictional popular quartet F4! Who would forget Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Mei Zuo, and Xi Men? The original boys brought us wonderful songs that most 90-ish kids would still remember and sing along to, which would definitely lead us back to memories of the Taiwanese version’s immense popularity.
At that time, I remember myself still being a kid, who willingly followed her older sister’s every whim and recorded every single episode on a tape recorder for her. Those were the dark times that I totally got sick of being in front of the television and the drama, but gladly Vic Zhou was there to grace me with his presence. I so loved Hua Ze Lei as a kid. He was my ultimate crush, that was probably why I started crushing on Yoon Jihoo as soon as the Korean remake took over a few years later.
More than that blast from the past feeling though, the hottest topic this 2018 is the comeback the drama is making through the Chinese remake, starring this generation’s most beautiful faces, Shen Yue (Dong Shan Cai), Dylan Wang (Dao Ming Si), Darren Chen (Hua Ze Lei), Connor Leong (Feng Mei Zuo) and Caesar Wu (Xi Men Yan).
Shen Yue feels very familiar to me after her ‘A Love So Beautiful’ drama aired in my country and boosted in popularity. The boys, however, are all new faces to me but I must say the moment I saw them I really felt good to see that they are taking over the F4 role. Maybe because they all just look so handsome and charming that their face value already makes the cut.
Anyway, I’ve been rambling about the randomest things, but that’s just because I feel excited to talk about the 2018 version after just watching it. I’m up to episode 6 of the drama, so I shall share my first impression about what happened from the beginning to that point.
Here goes nothing!
Catchy Start
What caught my attention when I started episode 1 is how it opened the story with Shan Cai asking ‘Have you ever wondered what will happen to you in the future?’ and concluding how her 18 year old self never thought something like that will happen to her while a scene of her throwing a strong flying kick to Dao Ming Si’s face plays in slow motion.
I think that, that flying kick on the face totally brings a huge head start to the drama, causing for curiosity to uproot as they left what happened a mystery and began the generic introduction of characters. Shan Cai being the ordinary girl who will luckily land the role of heroine in one hell of a rollercoaster ride. And there was also–lo and behold–the notorious F4, who seems even more perfectly described in this version (a really much improved background than their earlier versions!) that it is too good to be true. To fictitious, to say.
Nonetheless, the start of the drama really managed to grab my attention, so I’m giving them a perfect score for that.
Same but Different
So, we get the same thing but maybe with a Chinese twist to it? I’m not sure whether it’s because they want it to be different from its past versions, but this one definitely has a very unique taste to it.
They changed a lot of things like:
Shan Cai’s family background – The original Meteor Garden and even Boys Over Flowers portrayed her as someone coming from a poor family that barely made a living. Here, Shan Cai at least came from an average family with a mom that cooks and gets money from delivering takeouts and has a father that works as a bank manager (I think they said that was his job).
In the previous versions too, her parents look really pathetic to me. I mean, the father and mother were both selling off their daughter to Dao Ming Si / Gu Jun Pyo. But at least, the mother in the Chinese version is not that loud and annoying and although she still dotes on Dao Ming Si so much that she can sell Shan Cai out to him, at least, her father is there to become the buffer that stops her antics.
An even more perfect F4 – If that’s even possible! So, I know it’s kind of cliche now that the poor girl falls in love with the rich guy. It’s a common trope among dramas, but of course we don’t get tired of the rich and handsome guys of F4! As in never get tired of them!
And to make it much better–or worse? but that’s up to you–the drama made these four flower boys even more desirable bachelors. You’ll easily know about how different and better they are right from the first episode when a random Junior walks up to Shan Cai, Qing He and Li Zhen and tells them about the popular F4.
Dao Ming Si may be the forever pineapple haired guy (his hairstyle gets even better too!), but he’s now finally equipped with the knowledge of being able to speak three or four languages and a talent for business. The old Dao Ming Si can’t even get a quote right, which was really funny back then. He was handsome and rich, but not so smart. But now he can just be everything, well except for the short temper and his anger management problems plus obsession for Shan Cai.
Hua Ze Lei used to be just quiet and snobbish like a cold prince in the older versions, but this drama made it so that they could explain his introverted behavior as related from the slight autism he had when he was a kid and is supposedly cured by the great Teng Tang Jing. Can you even cure autism? I made my own research and gladly they said a minority portion of those people with autism get cured depending on the severity of their autism and the therapies they go through over the years, but its still debatable. However, giving this drama the benefit of the doubt, this is fiction. I’m not gotta criticize it for not knowing any better. For sure, they know what they are doing.
Mei Zuo and Xi Men – so they’re like the third in command in all the versions if you ask me. I’m pretty sure, in terms of appearance, they are of equal importance. Two obnoxious, overprotective friends with a tendency to womanize. I see women hanging around them everywhere, but that’s their role. It’s the casanovas that are more interesting to watch. However, like I said they are the ‘much improved’ versions: wherein Mei Zuo has an impeccable memory that they can never lose in the card game ‘Bridge’ and Xi Men has a liking for tea, due to his family background.
I’m not sure if this is going to sound nicer and may help them look smarter, but I think this version of F4 is the milder, much civilized guys. I mean, they don’t bully someone so randomly out of the blue and make their lives a living hell. Instead, as it was explained, they are so good at the card game ‘Bridge’ (that they even have a club for that!) that many people want to challenge them and to stop anyone from just randomly challenging them, they set an odd rule that you need to first receive the ‘Joker’ card as an invitation for a Bridge match.
That doesn’t sound like much what would bad boys do, right? It would have been nicer if they stuck to the original, but I guess this isn’t so bad either. At least, if they challenge somebody it would make much more sense. Plus, they look really cool playing that game.
Hello ‘Joker’! – So, bye bye to that red card that Dao Ming Si used to send his victims and say ‘hello’ to the less threatening ‘Joker’ card in your locker. Prepare to lose in the game of Bridge with F4 and eat some slippers as the consequence!
At least, it’s befitting for them to use the card, though, right?
College and Milk Tea – I get it every version of Shan Cai is different that’s why she’s a freshman in the Nutrition course here and she works part time at a milk tea shop called ‘Talented’ with Xiao Yu.
Fights and Reconciliations – Well, I remember Li Zhen–Shan Cai’s newfound friend–also liking Dao Ming Si in the past and because she’s jealous of Shan Cai she intentionally sets her up so that she looks like she slept with someone she met at a club.
The same friend betrays her in this version, but her reason is sort of different and somehow ‘coincidental’ and Shan Cai ends up forgiving her because she’s just that kind of person and Dao Ming Si can never have a say about it or kick her out of university since he doesn’t own it. But at least, all is well. And to be honest, I like how things ended up well between these two friends in this version, since the problem arose from something trivial and it’s just unreasonable for someone to drop out because they were being bullied for some petty reason, right?
Meteor Garden 2018 gets you hooked by these positive changes and makes the drama a bit lighter than its older versions that are leaning more on its dramatic quotient.
However, on another note, I must admit that Shan Cai didn’t experience as much hardship as the old Shan Cai did. Dao Ming Si bullies her in the most childish sense, plotting childish jokes that you can’t call disturbing. I guess, because he’s been sheltered for long enough and didn’t grow up dating girls left and right, that he is having a hard time expressing himself to her and with his very impatient personality makes him extremely possessive of her.
The lack of emotional turmoil boxes the potential of each of them to do even better in portraying their role, however.
So, in a nutshell, Meteor Garden looks totally brand new with the many additions, but still has more room to improve with the acting. Not saying, they aren’t good, but there got to be something more with that actor or actress. So, I’m looking forward to improvement until it’s 48th episode!
Fast Pacing
Is it just me or this drama is moving too quickly that I’m getting worried what more will they show in the next 44 to 48 episodes?
Not that I am complaining about the quick pacing, it’s just that maybe I am not used to it. The Taiwanese version really had a slow, agonizing pace that I would not really stick to it until the end if I had to do a marathon, while this one was just like leafing through pages in a book while only skimming it very briefly, which I think is good but pretty worrisome. Not unless they have more to show that won’t be dragging and not just a filler, then I guess the pacing should be fine.
Total Flower Boys
I can definitely say that this version totally left me drooling at the boys. All of them are really good looking you can’t say they’re a waste. They do have their different charms that set them apart from each other, but in total all of them are likable eye-candies!
I used to be a solid Hua Ze Lei kind of girl, but after watching Dylan Wang portray Dao Ming Si, I can’t help but fawn over the boy. He just fits the prickly, childish and short-tempered rich boy role that’s not too rough but not kind looking either. At some points, he’s cute and surprisingly I don’t despise him for childishly annoying Shan Cai.
The Strong-willed Wild Flower that often bends
You can say that Shan Cai is that heroine who doesn’t easily back down from a challenge. She’s always been stubborn and antagonizing, especially towards Dao Ming Si. She’s been consistent in this love-hate relationship they have that sometimes it’s hard to believe how they ended up together.
But I must say I sometimes feel anxious about Shen Yue’s version of Shan Cai. She’s a good actress and its nice she can easily tear up when an emotional scene comes up, but why do I feel like this Shan Cai is being more fickle now than before? She’s fickle that I find it annoying she lets Dao Ming Si kiss her without a fight even when she likes Hua Ze Lei. I think she sounds more like a pushover or a very easy person, especially when she lets Hua Ze Lei kiss her after just seeing him kiss another girl without any second thoughts and while bringing her along with him at the beach.
A Real Douche
Excuse me for my opinion, but now that I’ve watched this version, I can’t help but think Hua Ze Lei is the real douche here and not Dao Ming Si, who did nothing but devotedly love Dong Shan Cai, I mean, Lei may appear like a cool guy because he’s quiet and introverted and he doesn’t look like he can play any tricks at girls, but the thing is he keeps stringing Shan Cai along–even kissing her cheek without any proper reason and even if he didn’t like her back then when he did it–even if he likes Jing. He even follows her to Paris and lives with her, but just because she doesn’t make time for him and he’s not man enough to be able to save their relationship, that he leaves and shakes up Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai’s blossoming love-hate relationship.
Well, I’m not saying he’s bad, but still for sure no one wants to be the second option when it comes to the person you like. No matter what, a girl needs to have some self-respect and can’t treat herself unjustly by having false hopes that one day this stupid guy will look at you. And Lei shouldn’t be that guy that gives her false hopes just because he knew she likes her and then only goes back to her after realizing Jing doesn’t need him. That’s just plain stupid. Like seriously. I’d rather pick the person who genuinely likes me more and not the person who will only give me the second place. You won’t be truly happy with someone who only puts you second in his life.
Romance
It’s still so complicated like before that it’s unbelievable. I can’t say that there will be such romance in reality, but nonetheless, I totally feel like the chemistry between Dylan Wang and Shen Yue is like second nature to them that you may find them rather unarguably cute together and suited for each other. Together, they make my heart really flutter like a teenager and grin like an idiot nonstop.
Over all
Surprisingly, I think I am being won over by this drama to another level after watching its first few episodes. Of course, I  had  my own doubts upon hearing another remake is on its way, but with some leap of faith that it wouldn’t just be some cheap drama remake, I think that it’s worth the wait and the time I invested on watching it.
I can’t say that it surpassed the other versions, because they all have their different charms. But I can probably say that Meteor Garden 2018 managed to surpass itself.  With its impeccable cast and the awesome production and directing, it surpassed expectations of most Meteor Garden fans.
Plus, add the fact that its very lighthearted in its element compared to the past versions and really much cuter that it must attract, too, the younger audience.
I will not dwell with the fact, though, that it’s pretty long for 40+ episodes times 40 minutes worth of TV viewing per episode and will just enjoy the flow of things while it can entertain me so I wouldn’t overthink about its length being a disadvantage at this time. Maybe they can use it to their advantage too, but who knows? Only time will tell.
Nonetheless, I will recommend this to anybody who just simply loves Meteor Garden at any day. You should try it if you’re up for another Meteor Garden fever and be charmed by the eternal F4!
I will rate this drama 4.7 out of 5 for surprising me and getting me hooked!
See you later for my On going and Final review for this drama in the future!
First Impression: Meteor Garden (2018) I'm not really a big fan of C-dramas or Meteor Garden, but who will forget this phenomenal drama that started from a Japanese manga until it became a TV series that probably has the most remakes?
