Once, you two went walking to allow Taka to fly and hunt something, and the instant an hour passed since Taka took off, Simon became even paler than usual and started to call him back frantically;

You tried to help, but weren't even as near preoccupied with the situation as he was;

He's an intelligent animal, is he not? He will come back where food is assured, that's what your mind was telling you to keep you calm;

Only when he was found stuck in fallen branches you considered your mistake;

(That time you had the worst arguments in history); that however wasn't that articulated, you being one to avoid conflicts

i went a full game without thinking too deeply about it, but now that we’re here…

simon blackquill is kind of…

i haven’t finished the case yet but it is so silly and fun! a great breath of fresh air after 6-3 (which was harder than i expected it to be /pos).

looking back at the series, it’s pretty funny how far we’ve come with attorneys’ attempts at projecting prosecutors’ and defense’s adversarial relationships in court. we went from edgeworth trying to cover up having allied w the defense in 3-5 to simon jumping from the gallery to athena’s aid, right in front of the judge in 6-4. does someone wanna call that out or…?

the whole balloon thing w geiru gave me a good chuckle. good ol’ udgey.

really really loving the banter between simon and athena. it’s pretty clear he dotes on her. her respect for him is easy to see as well. nahyuta fits really well into this dynamic. i’m liking him tbh!

ok, back to the case.

WHY IS HE SO SASSY LMFAO

i love when you think a character is gonna be serious (talking first impressions during DD) and they end up being either a cringefailure or a boyloser, sometimes both.

i’m also really happy with how DD and SOJ have emphasized the diff skill levels between WAA’s lawyers. some of the contradictions athena can’t pin right away are things i imagine apollo or phoenix could spot. now that the initial shock of athena’s gimmick has worn off, i actually don’t mind it. athena has really grown on me. you can tell she’s quite young, so props to SOJ’s writing team for that.

Barok Van Zieks, hm? an interesting historical figure to be sure. our father did claim some relation, but then, he claimed relation to a number of other members of British notability. I never gave enough of a damn to check our records on the matter. As far as I am aware, the man never had children, so it's not as though we could have been actually descended from him.

As for my thoughts on the man, he was troubled. deeply. finding out your entire life has been a lie, based on hiding the identity of a murderer, much less THAT murderer...it would drive anyone mad. Its a bloody miracle he held on.

He was also deeply racist, even by the standards of the time. and before anyone comes at me with some excuse, he was a grown man, and it was his responsibility to deal with his own trauma, rather then impose it on others, others who he knew had naught to do with it. that was a choice he repeatedly made. For that, he receives no sympathy from me.

I hope this has been enlightening for you. I would highly recommend going through the case files he was connected to, particularly in relation to Ryunosuke Naruhodo, who served as a defense attorney in Great Britain during a time that would prove very significant.
