I remember making a post like this a good while ago somewhere, but I can’t seem to find it so I guess I lost it. So guess I’ll try it again.
With how the Pokémon world is in majority a benevolent, compassionate world, I’m very inclined to imagine there are many resources for humans with special needs, like Iasis, even though the anime/games haven’t explored this much (at least not that I remember.
For some reason I just can see grass types being perfect companion and support for people with depression (of course that can be true for a lot more pokémon, not strictly grass types;)
Pokémon that are trained specifically to be “service pokémon” (as in “service dogs,”) such being the case of Iasis’ Skiddo-- Skiddo are said to have been the first pokémon to work in harmony with humans, and in the anime they’re portrayed to feel human’s emotions and feelings when touching their horns-- meaning they make good “service pokémon” by being someone’s emotional/mental support, and being also capable of keeping tabs on people’s emotional state and know when to walk them away from potential stressors;
Fighting types, despite their usually intimidating and mighty aura... helping people in physiotherapy;
Small children being handed a pokémon egg to look after until they hatch as a form of therapy. And/or a method to help them develop their nurturing instincts;
Pokémon trained to remind their humans to take their meds at the right time;
I often see ghost types given a malicious or mischievous vibe to them, but hear me out... ghost types helping people who are grieving intensely or not taking well the loss of loved ones.

I’m quite inclined to believe that within the Pokémon dialect, Raichu likely uses mild or moderate surfer lingo.

Reference/Mock-up of Liko & Ribombee’s Cafe in Alola, where Meir began working at after moving there, and consequently, an establishment Iasis regularly frequents.

If Meir was a gym leader at some point, what pokémon type was his speciality?
While he was rather flexible with his pokémon's types at the time, Meir was visibly more inclined towards Fighting types.
You can even see how majority of his current pokémon either have Fighting in their typing or have Fighting type moves.

I read that Iasis' dad gave her his pokemon to keep her safe from Team Skull hooligans, but has she really ever been targeted by any?
Interestingly, not at all!
Meir’s perception of Team Skull is mostly based on their reputation through Alola, and the very few times some Team Skull thugs tried to start crap at his boyfriend’s cafe. His boyfriend Liko has had problems with Team Skull thugs before given he’s the cafe manager, and Meir got to experience a couple of these occasions after he began working with Liko as well, but Iasis herself has never been involved.
So Meir goes by what Liko and other Alolans say and heed/warn about Team Skull (which is likely a pretty bad rep) and his very few and possibly limited personal experiences. So he ‘educates’ and heeds Iasis about Team Skull more or less the way certain types of parents warn their children about ‘strangers on the internet’-- which is valid but sometimes can be too generalizing and give some good/decent apples a bad name.

While she is better than when she had just left hospital, sometimes Iasis will still be panged with knee pain.
Usually happens when she has to get up from a sitting position. It’s more or less tolerable when she’s getting up from a chair or other kind of seat especially if she has her cane or a pokémon / person for extra support. However if she was sitting at ground level, getting up can come with nasty knee aches because then there’s more necessity for her legs to support her weight to stand up even if she uses her cane as extra support, or has the help of Skiddo or another pokémon or person. Fortunately the pain gradually subsides after a couple minutes.
Her legs may also ache if she has to sit cross-legged, be it on a seat or ground-level.

I feel like Iasis would accept a pokemon battle if it was to make her pokemon happy.
LMAO YES SHE WOULD.
As much as she’s never battled before in her life, she’d never deny her pokémon the enjoyment of one if they were eager for it.
That’s especially true and especially funnier with Raichu because it: A) loves a challenge; and B) isn’t even Iasis’ pokémon at all if we’re being technical.
Even if she’s gonna spend 90% of the battle absolutely PANICKING and possibly googling stuff like “POKÉ BATTLES HOW TO HELP”

I feel like a lot of youngster trainers have tried catching wild pokémon without weakening them first “on purpose” because it could potentially diverge into a “ball-tossing game.”
When kids wants to play, they will find ways to play.
That certainly would apply to Iasis if she went to go ahead and try to catch pokémon herself.

Would Iasis and Ash be friends if they met?
HOO BOY HERE WE GO-
That’s... surprisingly very hard to answer.
Ash’s character is shown to be very energetic, expressive, bright and go-getter. The kind that draws other people to them.
The problem is: Most of these traits would legit have the opposite effect on Iasis. She would be REPELLED by him.
Ash is LOUD, constantly vibrating with energy, and wants to do everything there is to do at once. It would be borderline impossible for Iasis to keep up with him, or want to keep up with him. He’d drain her of her social energy in a matter of seconds and probably leave her with a migraine headache for 80% of the time.
Basically she’d be like “Look I’m sure you’re a cool boy but you EXHAUST me in more ways than one and make me wish for an aspirin, and I do Not Like that.”

I feel like lots of Psychic-type pokémon would get hella alarmed upon walking past Iasis because for real this kid needs lots of therapy and is so mentally strained that a Psychic-type pokémon just chilling in the vicinity would be like “whoa wait a minute wHO’S THAT FUCKIN’ DEPRESSED!?”

Why does Iasis' caretaker have so many bear pokémon? If mean, if there is a reason for that.
There is, actually!
Before becoming a trainer, Meir was born and spent majority of his childhood in an area that had many wild bear pokémon thus locals also owned many bear pokémon (mostly Teddiursa/Ursaring, but occasionally Cubchoo/Beartic would pop up during the colder seasons.)
So he can’t help but have bear pokémon give him a nostalgic feeling. They make him feel closer to his roots.

Ok, Iasis might be meek and a little frail but she doesn’t come without response.
If somebody were to attempt, like, taking her pokémon, they should be prepared to at least earn a handful of hits from her cane.
