i remember on my first listen through of c1 being slightly underwhelmed by jake's responses as hardwon in the flashback when king macgannis is giving him the kingshammer. bc i hadnt really gotten attached to the characters yet and given them too much deep thought lol, so i was like um ok... why isnt hardwon reacting to anything...? this seems like such a big deal, whats hardwon's problem...? but relistening to it now that im hashtag naddpilled i fucking love jake's choice. bc hardwon is such a loud brash guy, he has such a big presence, perhaps inwardly insecure but outwardly confident, especially at 80 episodes in where hes finally gaining more true security in himself w moonshine and bev as his friends. but as a little six year old, baby hardwon has not found those friendships yet. has not been able to step outside the dwarphanage, outside irondeep, and find so many places and so many people and a world so full of love. all six years of his life, hes been teased and excluded and bullied by his peers for being lesser in pretty much every single way, and all the adults in his life either look away or laugh along. ofc hes learned that all attention is bad attention. that no one is on his side. that he just has to shut up and close himself off and only speak when spoken to and try to disappear. so baby hardwon's only dialogue in the entire sequence being quiet one or two word responses, "yes sir" "yes sir" "okay" "okay", almost inaudible, are utterly heartbreaking. the sheer contrast w adult hardwon's force of personality is so fucking delicious. im so fucking crazy

Transformers: Earthspark - Season 3

Personal thoughts and opinions. Spoilers, obviously

1: Breakdown

I am a bit confused by Breakdown’s character in the series overall.

When we are introduced to him, it isn’t as a loyal to the cause Decepticon, it’s as a friend of Bee’s who seems to want nothing other than the freedom to go racing when and wherever he pleases. However, in the last two seasons we see him betray Bee more than once. In the first episode of this latest season, Bee sneaks into the dome with Mo and Thrash specifically to get Breakdown out, and Breakdown turns on him in favor of the other cons. Repeatedly through the show he’s gone back and forth between loyalty to Bee and loyalty to the cons.

I’m willing to accept that perhaps I’m misunderstanding the character right now, but in my (current) personal opinion, he seems incredibly inconsistently written.

2. Tarantulas

There is still no sign of Tarantulas since his first introduction. I am unsure if the character was cut outright due to budget reasons, but I’m disappointed that he does not reappear. A friend of mine stated that he could be dead, but we see no evidence of this in the show. Furthermore, he does not board Prowl’s ship with the other cons to head back to Cybertron. That being said, if he is alive, he is still on Earth somewhere.

3. Fair Maestro

I'm kicking this man right in the balls. He's annoying and he needs to be arrested with multiple unlawful imprisonment charges.

4. Megatron

I don't really give a shit if people like Earthspark Megatron or not, and I don't really care if he could have done more to stop G.H.O.S.T. All I care about is the fact that this man calls Twitch "Little Bird" multiple times and I am just

5. Prowl

First impressions: I want to punch his teeth out. In a way, he kind of reminds me of Knockout - he initially calls the humans 'pets' and refers to them as fleshies multiple times. Due to a misunderstanding, he also physically attacks Megatron.

As episodes progress, he verbally attacks Megatron as well, at last until Megatron saves his ass.

He's blunt, he's relatively rude, and he's rough around the edges, but overall I personally think he's written well, and the show does a good job of keeping him from being a copaganda character.

6. Starscream

This motherfucker got himself stuck in a baby jail of his own making and when we finally get to hear him speak again he's fucking having tea with Spitfire's corpse propped up in a chair across a table from him. Then Jawbreaker bites him, Hashtag kills him, and Prowl arrests him

7. Terratronus

Now we're getting into one of the big things that bother me the most. There is a whole ass green alien dome in the middle of the city. There is a whole ass titan in the middle of the city. Why isn't getting the dome down and making sure there's no civilians stuck inside with cons and a chaos storm one of the Autobot's biggest priorities?

Follow up question, why are the civilians of Witwicky just going about their day to day like nothing has happened?

In this day and age, someone has likely posted video footage to social media. The government should be fully involved by now, yet the most we see is Schloder tailing a road raging Bumblebee after he's infected with the hate plague.

That aside, we do finally get to see Terratronus in all her glory. And also, apparently, the power of friendship can turn this titan into a Valkyrie that can put TF1 Sentinel Prime to shame.

8. The Maltos

I think this bugs me the most, and I didn't even notice until my friend pointed it out. I think they may have whitewashed Mo and Robbie a bit. Not cool, Hasbro

At some point, Alicia switched sides, maybe out of pity for either Mrs. Mainwaring (her husband's former ward) or Frederica. We see her visit Frederica at school against Lady Susan's wishes, for example. Alicia is maintaining her friendship with Lady Susan to help control the damage.

Alicia pushes Lady Susan to marry Sir James, leave Frederica with the Vernons, and even to send Mainwaring back to his wife, which would help both Frederica and Mrs. Mainwaring. Alicia also very conveniently is never able to speak with Lady Susan in person. Alicia knows how intelligent Lady Susan in, so writing lies by letter is probably much safer.

Her husband's gout is just way too well timed to be real. Reginald arriving just when Mrs. Mainwaring is visiting and Alicia is out of the house? It cannot be a coincidence. She was a turncoat and she defeated Lady Susan!

Before the Lies - Chapter 6

A/N: this is the prequel to the beloved Trap of Lies 1700 dark AU. If you are just finding this story i recommend starting there and also catching up on the masterlist here. The events that happen in this story I could not have done without my amazing writers joining me so as you read each chapter make sure you are following them. Each chapterr will be using the hashtag #before the lies. So without further ado...

As the children headed back to the Carter's house, it was quiet. You could hear the horses’ hoofs on the cobblestone and the noise of people talking outside.

Mae was concerned for her friend. They refused to let go of each other's hand except to climb into the carriage. While Mae almost always has something to say, she could not think of anything to calm Jake's heart.

Eric sat across from them, watching Mae and Jake. He wasn't sure why his little sister was so drawn to this boy but he knew they always ended up getting into trouble. This is why he had to watch them. He was only a year younger than Jake, but when it came to Mae, Jake couldn’t be counted on to be the responsible one.  He would blindly follow her, giving into her whims and letting her do as she wanted.  The relationship they had was known to be carefree.  The kind that children could have before the burdens and responsibilities of life were placed on them.  Eric wished that he could still feel that way.  Instead he felt a need to be the one who kept his sister safe, protected from her own mischievous wants. 

Watching Jake look out over the scenery, as the horses took them home, Eric noticed Jake had the same expression as he had in Sir Connor’s library.  Eric had noticed when the boy stood by the large windows with this same expression, he was watching but his mind was elsewhere. Eric also saw how his little sister watched Jake. She seemed to be almost looking for something to cheer him up but failing. As he watched her lean into Jake, he knew in that moment, what they had was more than just friendship.

"Mae, give Jake some space," Eric snickered, as he watched her reaction to his statement. He knew she hated that nickname, but was also aware she would listen when he used it.

Mae sighed at Eric's comment, as she intertwined her fingers with Jake’s.   She knew Jake would tell her if he needed space, but her brother wouldn't stop with his comments out of his imagined duty as her keeper, the one responsible for her.. She lifted her head from Jake's arm and went to slide over on the plush carriage seat. Instantly, he felt her pull away and was brought back, out of his thoughts, to the ride and his fellow passengers. Jake squeezed Mae’s hand and gave her a little tug signaling that she should come back next to him. Turning his head to face the other boy, he spoke firmly, "She's fine how she is, Eric. If I wanted room to think, she would know." 

The two boys never really got along. They both had dealt with each other for Mae's sake. As Jake stared at Eric, he felt Mae’s hand squeeze a little tighter as the carriage arrived at her home.

Once they stopped, Mae got out first followed by Jake. As Eric got out he sighed. His frustration with the two was evident and Mary noticed right away. 

"Eric, why don't you go into the kitchen? Your favorite lunch is being made." She smiled trying to diffuse the situation, knowing  the boys only dealt with each other for the sake of her daughter. 

She watched Maebelle  gently pulling Jake over to the pasture with the horses. "Kids come here please," she calmly yelled for them. She watched them stop and turn around. The more Jake was around her daughter, the more she saw her daughter blossom. She knew if this boy stuck around, there would be no doubt they would end up together. Even at this young age it was inevitable to everyone.

Mary saw how they  looked at each other, as their steps back toward her were at a much slower pace. It was almost like they had a feeling of something happening, well Jake probably did and Maebelle mirrored his concern. 

They all sat down on the porch swing in the front of the house with Mae sitting in the middle. "Jake, darling, your mother had to go on another trip unexpectedly. Until she returns, you will be staying with us, okay?" Mary’s voice was full of concern. She knew how much he loved Janice.  As much as the boy loved spending time with Mae, she could see his wish for more time with his mother.  Mary saw the sadness in his face as Mae held his hand tight looking at her companion.

Jake's attention turned from Mary to the trees in the front yard. He felt the breeze and saw the branches sway. This is what he was worried about. This feeling in his stomach was making him think he would never see her again. That they won't read books together or walk through town holding hands. His mother had told him they could get Mae her favorite flowers for her birthday but now his heart was unsure.

Mae instantly noticed he was deep in thought and squeezed his hand tighter to bring him back "Jake," she softly whispered, trying her hardest to bring her favorite person back to her in that moment.

He turned towards her and saw the concern in her face. The devotion she had for those she loved was untouched by many. He knew she adored him and would do anything for him. "I'll be okay, Mae." His voice was soft, like at the library when she showed concern.

Mary looked at them both. "Jake, darling, let's go for a ride to get you some clothes and the book you've been reading at home," she stated, trying to bring comfort to the boy.

Jake knew he was welcome here in the Carter’s house.  Sometimes he could even pretend it was like a second home for him, but he wasn’t of their world.  Like Janice, he only felt comfortable with this family.  They didn’t belong in this world they visited.

Charles had returned from the day's work and found Maebelle and Jake out in the pastures with her horse. This horse was a pony shire they had gotten for Maebelle just this year. It was a beautiful gray colored female that the girl had named Stone.  She could often be found out here with her horse.

Seeing Jake in the pasture, he  could not help but wonder why the boy was still here but figured Mary was aware of it. He noticed how close the two children seemed to grow more and more over the years and can't help but smile. He walked over to them and picked up Maebelle. He noticed the green made her eyes shine brighter and it spun as he twirled her around.

"Love, why don't you go inside with Mama," his soft smile made her smile back as he put her down. She ran to the house and Jake went to follow but Charles put his hand on the lad's shoulder. Jake turned around and looked at Charles. "Let's talk, my son," his voice was soft but firm.

Charles could sense that the boy was nervous. He was unsure why there was this sudden change in his behavior.  Every other time he was around Jake there were never any issues.

"I-I have a question regarding Mae, S-S-Sir," Jake stammered out.

Jake’s gentle voice  brought him back.  "How do you know she's the one?" 

His  hazel eyes instantly softened and Jake noticed him relaxing  "I promise to answer the best I can, my boy."  Since meeting Jake, he had tried to step up and be there for him, like a father would. Knowing his was not around for some reason. Charles wasn't sure what all happened, Janice hadn't told him or Mary. However, Charles knew he was missing out on a smart, polite, bright young boy.

Charles knew with these two this conversation was going to happen. He was hoping it was going to be a few more years as he was not ready to give his only daughter away immediately when she turned of age. He sighed as he thought this through before answering, he knew Jake was watching him.

"Boy, you better love her like the one that you cannot imagine losing because, trust me son, she is not one to lose. She'll be the love and the fight of your life. She'll be your best friend, be faithful and devoted. She'll make you thank the Father and make you believe in the Son. That's when you know you've got something worth fighting for and one worth dying for," Charles stated.

The older man knew in his heart that if Jake did not stay in Maebelle's life that her fate was already set. Like most marriages, there were arrangements made for certain reasons. While he felt at this point those issues hadn't arised, he couldn't promise they wouldn’t. Charles knew if she had any say in her future it was with this boy, who was asking this question of love of his only daughter's heart already when he was still so young.

Jake took his eyes away from the door where he watched Mae run into the house and looked at Charles. "Are we too young to feel this way?" He was concerned. While he knew Charles adored him like a son, Mae was his little girl.

"Son, when you feel that way, age is just a number." Charles squatted down so he was at Jake's level. "I can tell you this, my boy. She would ride the wildest horse for you, to the ends of this world. If she feels that way now, I cannot even dream how much she would be willing to do to keep you in her life, when you two are older."

Jake sighed and let out but a smile creeped onto his face. He knew it was true, his companion would do anything for him.  They both heard Mary call for supper and headed inside for the night.

This is an open letter for you three written by a couple of unhappy passionate fans.

We write this to you because we know at least one of you has a secret Stan account and creeps on the destiel hashtag from time to time. Don’t lie. (Ahem. Misha Collins. Looking at you, Sir.)

With the subtle hints and possibility of a revival, us here at BarrenHeart (Bee and Jay) have some thoughts on what we think a reboot/continuation/revival would look like if it was done well.

Note: we don’t speak for the whole fandom(obviously). And we don’t even speak for all of the Cas/destiel fans. This is from our observation of the fandom after 15x18 and the finale, plus our own opinions.

Here are our demands suggestions for the potential revival.

--Castiel--

First things first. Castiel is brought back.

And by that, we mean he is either shown to be rescued from the empty, Jack rescues him from the empty, or by some other means, that man is not left there to suffer for all of eternity.

Castiel is a lead character.

Not a guest star, not “and Misha Collins.” No. Misha Collins gets to be in every d*mn episode. He is an equal lead alongside Dean and Sam. Which leads into the next point.

Castiel gets his own storyline.

It can be connected to Dean in some way, but he needs his own arc, y’all. Don't care what that is, but he IS his own character. So, some form of personal growth or whatever needs to happen. He is a badass and deserves a good storyline. Also…

Give this M-- F-- (mother father) his wings back!

Yes, he died without ever having his wings return to their full power. Like? We know he was nerfed so he wouldn't overpower Sam and Dean. Prove to us that he can be a fully powered badass and still work alongside Sam and Dean. No need to get rid of that.

Human!Cas does not mean pathetic Cas.

There is a divide on whether Castiel should stay an angel. Personally, we like human Cas. However, human Cas was shafted in the series. If you make him human in any way, shape, or form, he’s gonna still have to be a badass. Don’t whimp him!

He can be a good hunter/pretend FBI agent just like Sam and Dean!

So, make him one! Let him do more cases. On his own. With other people. With Sam. With Dean. He can fight without powers, too.

Give him love!

For the love of freaking Jack, let that man know he is loved by people. Not even mentioning anything romantic, he still needs platonic love y’all. Let Sam say it, let Jack say it. Let anyone in his family tell him that he is loved. Not once in this series did Cas hear that anyone loved him. So, fix it!

New style, anyone?

Cas needs other clothes! Please now. The black trenchcoat we never saw in-show? Boss. Cas in a black leather jacket? Coolness. Hunter plaid? Do it.

Confession Resolution

Speaking of love, come to some conclusion please about him and Dean. Give a resolution somehow, somewhere. We personally don’t really care how it’s done, but there needs to be something said here. You cannot just drop a confession there and just leave like it never happened. So, talk about it.

Adding this, I swear, if this is bros only, you WILL lose Cas fans. So, think about what you’re doing.

--Sam--

Sam is important!

Now, personally we have a soft spot for Sam. His character arc in Season 1-5 was great. Demon blood, powerful Sam was amazing. So, don’t sideline Sam. Seriously. We are gonna say in an unpopular way (as if this post isn’t already unpopular to some), but Sam got sidelined real hard in the last few seasons of the show. Now, was that what Jared wanted? Don’t know. But, Sam needs his own storyline too that isn’t just revolved around Dean. Figure it out.

Witch!Sam

Speaking of which, let this man be powerful. Sam is best when he has powers. Sorry but also not. He has been given all of Rowena’s (who is arguably the best witch around) spell books and decides to not really do much with it? No. He’s becoming a BAMF witch. Full-out, no word spells and shit. End point.

Sam in Charge

He’s not just a baby brother. He’s a grown man. Give him room to grow. Allow him to be a leader. Let him lead a group of hunters, witches, a whole team of people! He’s strong on his own, too. He's a big boy. Prove it.

He should fall in love.

Like, get married and all that. It’s a part of his arc, so keep it there. No blurry wife, my god! Personally it should be Eileen. She’s a badass. They also have a lot in common! Holy hell. They make a good team. So, keep that suggestion in mind.

Let him have the hero’s journey.

We want a good ending that shows growth for this character! He saw himself as a freak with powers, so…maybe he can use his powers now in a way that in empowering instead? Let him have an ending that doesn't just return to the beginning. Let him have gone through all of this changed for the better.

Don't be creepy.

Still keep the brotherly bond with Dean, but don’t make it weird, y’all. Don’t. Please.

Sam as a dad.

He can have a kid. But, Dean Jr? Eh. You might want to reconsider some other (Bobby) possibilities.

--Dean--

Now, with Dean, I wanna make this clear.

DO NOT K word THIS MAN.

This man here has dealt with unbelievable trauma, suicidal thoughts and even almost died by suicide in the show (okay, it was for another reason, but still!) He dies way too many times in this show. It’s not new anymore. Perhaps, when the show was newer, death might have been a bittersweet ending. But, now. It’s tarnished. It happened too much and the message of “carry on” got tainted to mean “there is only peace when you die.” That’s not okay.

Resolve his issues!

He has so much pain and trauma. Let him seek help. Let your audience know that it’s okay to process these emotions. Let him heal. He deserves it.

Dean’s internal struggles

This is piggybacking a little off of point two, but Dean has a lot of things he needs to figure out. We feel like his journey is more internal. While processing his trauma, he needs to learn that it's okay to be himself. This could include things about himself that he feels ashamed of or scared to admit. Things he may have repressed or suppressed over time. No more hiding who he is or brushing it off or making jokes. Be your true self, Dean. It's time.

Dean’s still important, of course

That said, Dean should still be integral to the overall narrative of the plot. Of course he's gonna go head to head with the Big Bad of the season/limited series, but he really should focus on what's inside first before he can take this monster down.

The Bro bond

No more dependent/unhealthy bond with Sam. Of course they are family and brothers, and will always be close. That's perfectly fine. However, its important to note that Dean was Sam’s mom/Dad most of his whole life. And, well, that never came to a resolution. Please let Dean resolve this issue. Sam is grown and older now, and even though Dean will always feel protective of him as his Big brother, Dean shouldn't feel like his life only revolves around taking care of Sam. There is more to Dean and his life.

Dean is complex

Also, Dean is not only about cars, burgers, and pie. It's like some of the writers forgot this. There are so many things/interests of Dean’s that are really cool and add to the complexity of his character. Keep those things.

He needs to resolve his issue with Jack.

He never said sorry to the kid. Not once after telling Sam that Jack wasn't family. He needs to tell Jack he is loved.

Speaking of which, Dean needs to tell Cas he loves him.

Okay. Who knows if you will make destiel reciprocal at this point.

Do we think Dean would have reciprocated based on context clues and what we have seen in the show? Yes.

Do we think this love is romantic? Yes.

Do we think you'll actually fully make it canon in a reboot/continuation? Eh.

Regardless, Dean loves Cas, so make it known.

Other demands considerations.

‘The found family’ needs to not be forgotten.

All the friends that were made along the way need to be included. What happened with Garth was great, actually. Do more of that. And by that, we mean include Jody and Donna. What are the girls doing now? Wayward sisters anyone? Bring Kevin back. Don't leave him to roam the earth all along like that. Either make him human again like Eileen or send him to rest in Heaven.

No idea if you can get Kathryn Newton back, but it would be cool at least for one episode. Please. Kaia? Resolve her storyline.

Wtf happened? That was not resolved. We love Felicia Day. Charlie’s friendship with Dean is amazing. She deserves a few episodes.

Seriously. What happened to Mark was super disappointing. You gotta bring him back. His death wasn't great. Bring him back and give him his damn line already!

I'm not fully on the Baby!Jack train, but he does deserve a normal life. He's three years old technically. He had no normal life whatsoever. He deserves that. So, give him that.

No, really. Someone's gotta get married. Our pick: Sam and Eileen. Charlie is also a good contender for having a wedding with her partner, too. So there. Weddings are happy. We want a happy ending.

Okay. Now, moving on to the next part of this. The elephant in the room. The thing a lot of us actually want from this, but frankly, we aren't sure if you'll do it.

Explicit Destiel.

If you've read this far J2M, then you're probably wondering when this was going to be addressed. So, here are the stipulations on destiel.

Go big or go home.

Yep. We said it. Make it explicit, full out, no ambiguity.

Honestly, you might be thinking what you could do to make it explicitly canon? Well, since there were tons of people who still think Cas’ love confession was just a platonic exchange between two bros (like wtf? How?), you're gonna have to spell it out for people.

But, some things that we may perceive as romantic, some people may not.

--Like, holding hands could be considered platonic between two men to some people.

--Cheek kissing could also be considered platonic to some people.

Not to say we need Jensen and Misha doing full on *** scenes to prove anything, but something more than a hand hold. Okay? Okay.

What we’re saying is basically, you're gonna have to kiss. On the lips. Yep.

So...I guess you'll have to figure out how you want to do that.

On when to make it canon:

You can decide if it makes sense to make it canon towards the beginning or towards the end. Honestly, there could be an argument for either. If it's made canon earlier, you could prove there can be a relationship alongside the main storyline. If you wait until the end, you'll leave fans wondering if you'll actually do it. But, the kiss being the major event of the finale could be worth it. Whichever you do, remember there are upsides and downsides to both.

Other other considerations:

Just realize who your fanbase is now. We’ve grown and changed. Like Becky, your fans have gone through a huge change in what they want from the show. Is the fandom all on the same page? Nope. Will they ever be? No.

You will not please everyone. That's a given. But, a lot of fans want to see the show wrap up in a better way than what we got. Destiel fans aside, the finale was not great overall. There are plenty of negative finale reviews that have nothing to do with destiel.

On top of that, society is changing. Slowly. The attitudes in regards to lgbtq media is quite different than before. You have the chance to make history. Really. If you make this canon, that will be a part of your legacy. You'll hit the news. I mean, 15x18 wasn't even the finale and it trended #1 that day.

We suggest that if you do decide to make it canon, it’s meaningful and you take the time to do it right.

So, consider your fans. Consider the part of the fandom that trended your show over the election. Consider the fans that trended a fictional wedding on Valentine's Day. Consider Misha/Cas fans who felt slighted. Consider your LGBTQA + fans. Just, think about what the reboot could achieve. What it could mean to a lot of people.

BUT!!!! i love that at the age of FIFTEEN she'd already got the title cruelest konoichi. like. ilu queen. and she's so confident too, like she knows she could wreck anyone's shit, she goes up against MADARA without ever pausing. and i love that whilee on the battlefield she's cruel, as a civillian she's just...lowkey a bitch. like she's scary and people know to fear her but she doesnt actually...bully anyone besides shikamaru. she's also so ride or die for her brothers and i LOVE it.

random headcanon: i have a lot of Thoughts about temari as a mother. i think that she never planned on being one, just like how she never planned on falling in love. it wasn't opposition, just. her childhood was fucked up, she had no good parental role models, she was much more interested in being a konoichi. but then she and shikamaru got serious and shikamaru is the head of the nara clan and he needed an heir. she agreed to it, in a few years, but shikadai was an oops ! so anyway, temari hated being pregnant lmao which is why they only had shikadai. but once he was born temari is like "oh. i'll kill and die for this child." like shikadai wasn't Real to her until she held him (vs shikamaru, who's been obsessed with that child since temari first started showing). temari actually tried going back to work when shikadai was a year old but pretty quickly she realized "fuck this". temari likes working, a lot, but she also likes being needed and she just likes her kid! so she oversaw all his training from the time he was old enough. it was hard at first, because she's never babied him, but she knew that the training she recieved was uh, not acceptable, so she struggled with what pace was actually okay for his age. hinata and sakura actually helped a lot here- hinata also had Fucked Up training as a child and sakura trained with tsunade who is Insane so they were able to figure out what worked best for their children. GOD THIS GOT LONG. anyway. i love temari and shikadai thank u.

Here's a random question for you: I know you're a big (the biggest) proponent of Scanny, but if you had to pick someone else for Danny to have a relationship with, who would it be?

I actually have thought about this! Honestly, my go to after Scott for Danny is Mason, because the younger characters are literally only two years younger than the original characters even if it seemed otherwise a lot of the time. And so given that we never saw Danny and Mason interact due to the whole ‘oh sure, he totally graduated offscreen a year early just in time to not be around for the season that revolved entirely around his specific expertise aka hacking’ nonsense....I can easily imagine a few years in the future, Danny and Mason meet in college or grad school or somewhere they’re on even footing and learn they have mutual friends/experiences/knowledge in common and from there grow into a friendship and also maybe then they’re boyfriends and then husbands and then dads and then grandpas and happily ever after yada yada.

Meanwhile, if Danny encountered Liam at any age, I feel like he would just be like: “No.” And then wave his hand around in Liam’s direction in a circle like to encompass all of him, as he’s all. “All of this is just exhausting, whatever it is. I am too old and too tired to deal with this....vibe you’re emitting.”

LOL I can’t explain it, like Liam and Mason have entirely different energies and I feel that age isn’t even a factor as to why Danny would just not at all have patience for Liam. Like, I don’t think he’d DISLIKE him exactly, so much as just....’I’m going to be over here, and you’re going to stay over there, and I just think that’ll be best for everyone and we’ll all get along great that way.”

Hmm, who else. Controversial I guess, but I actually did kinda like Dethan, waaaay back at the very beginning of it, before that very same season crapped all over any real potential it or even the twins at all had in the show. Given that I’m fine with them and even like them in AUs or fics that diverge before they had anything to do with Boyd’s death, but if that’s at all in canon for a story, I have no interest in them as anything other than cannon fodder. Which let’s be real, you always kinda have a need for in TW stories. 

But initially, I REALLY REALLY liked the fact that there was this (at the time) mysterious new character that was there for DANNY, like, deliberately seeking him out because of real or suspected significance....I was all for that, because I was like yes, excellent, clearly this means they have plans to focus more on Danny and bring him into the core group eventually and also obviously Danny’s gonna turn this guy away from the Dark Side and make him betray his pack of overcompensating losers for Danny and the power of LOVE because who doesn’t love that trope, am I right? Its all so clearly laid out!

Ahhh, to be that dumb again.

Anyway, so in AUs or early canon-divergent fics, I can be all for Danny and a better, more fleshed out and non-jackass depiction of Ethan. But by the time Ethan returns in actual canon, the fact that he’s with Jackson just irritates me in a ‘hooking up with your ex’s best friend is a jerk move and we get it, show, you don’t consider Danny important and never did, jfc’ kinda way. Beyond that though, I’m just like, Jackson can have him at that point, they deserve each other, go Team Jerkwad.

I don’t see Theo and Danny ever happening because I like to think that Danny’s view on scheming, ambitious and boundary-breaking friends with possible homicidal inclinations has changed since Jackson and Ethan’s presences in his life, and he’s like.....”Nah, I’m not doing that again. Two of that type are enough for me, and I’m kinda always gonna put up with Jackson at this point because...look, I had my reasons probably, just because I can’t remember the basis of our friendship now, like....just back off, okay?”

Just saying, I don’t think he’d inherently hate Theo if Theo’s story happens in an AU kinda way where he doesn’t murder and betray his way through the show’s social hierarchy, lol, but Danny would still just be like “Look, whatever your issues are dude, I’m not trying to judge you for them if you don’t make me, but like, go put in some you-time offstage and then maybe we can talk. I am not emotionally equipped to put up with the schemes of yet another person whose whole thing seems to be ‘am I good or bad, you decide, because I sure as hell can’t.’ I don’t care how big your biceps are, that is not going to be a deciding factor for me, not this time, no sir, I have learned from my mistakes, I have had hashtag Growth, and you need to go now, and also please put on a shirt. I SAID GOOD DAY, SIR!”

Danny and Stiles is Lol That’s A No For Me, of course, Danny and Boyd I would be totally down for and can picture them being like, a snark queen power couple who hang back and watch all the drama unfold around them while providing entertaining commentary back and forth to each other but otherwise act like they’re not even there, and when someone annoyed by their running commentary finally snaps and goes “Why are you two even here?” like, I can so picture Danny and Boyd just blinking slowly and looking at them, then at each other, then back at them as if confused by the question. 

“It’s Date Night,” Danny says slowly, in the tone reserved for being asked to solve the equation on the board that’s already got the answer written out right there.

“Okay, fine. But why are you HERE, then? If its your Date Night, like.....go have your date then. Catch a movie. Its all good, we don’t need you guys here at the moment.”

Boyd squints at them. “This IS our date. Whoppers?”

The latter is directed to Danny, as Boyd extends the box of candy towards him.

“Yes please,” Danny says, reaching for a handful.

Exasperated sighs are heard all around the room.

LOL anyway....who else....Jackson tends to be a no for me too, not for any real reason beyond like....I’ve read too many fics where they’re essentially treated as the Mirror Universe version of S/ciles, and you KNOW how I feel about that ship, so like, all even dubiously associated ships are by mere proxy also noped by me. *Shrugs*

Which mostly just leaves Isaac, and....idk, tbh. I’m not inherently opposed to them, and I’ve actually even read a couple of fairly long-ish and pretty enjoyable Danny/Isaac fics. But enjoyable in the sense of like....just as their own thing, a fun romance set in the TW setting/universe, between Danny and an Isaac-shaped woobiewolf. As the few Danny/Isaac fics I’ve found over the years tend to suffer from the exact same thing that’s always kept me from really ever getting into Scott and Isaac as a couple in anything other than theory...

Like, in the fics I’ve tried, I always tend to run into the same tendency to just....sand down all of Isaac’s rough edges and make him this shy, insecure, soft boy who is withdrawn until Danny or Scott bring him out of his shell....even when its based on the events of the show and Isaac’s already been turned into his leather jacket-wearing, snark-wielding, deliberately apathetic werewolfsona. 

And that’s just...not Isaac to me? So if I treat him as an original character basically, I can enjoy those stories, and do, just because there’s sooooo little Danny-centric fic that awhile back, I absolutely spent a good year or so making sure like, I found every last scrap of it, lol. I went spelunking in some deep, dark places in search of even a little spotlight time for Danny, because He Deserved Better and I was willing to put up with a lot to see him get even a little (except for like, blatant and unavoidable Scott hate being front and center in the fic as well. Then I exited with rapidity. I love Danny, but not even for him can I stomach that).

But yeah, otherwise, I very very rarely found a lot of Isaac fics, no matter who he was paired with, where he wasn’t like....constantly soft and vulnerable and the focus of Scott or Danny or whomever else’s regular attempts to comfort and protect him. Which I mean, I love Isaac, and I’m always projecting onto abuse survivors in fiction even if just a little bit, so its not that I object to the comfort and desire to protect him parts, just the sheer unevenness that tends to be present in his dynamics as well. I’ve always said that for me, the true theme of TW was survivor empowerment, that all of these kids had been hurt and exploited and traumatized in various ways and they all struggled individually and together to find ways to cope and to heal, and also to feel empowered enough to protect THEMSELVES from whatever or whomever tried to hurt them again in the future. 

And that’s the element that so often is missing from Isaac’s arc in fics, IMO...any hint of the character who he spent a lot of time and effort growing into on the show. Evolving first into a character who reveled in the power he’d been given and that made him feel safe and strong for the first time in his life, to the point where he was quite frankly an asshole a lot of the time. 

But then from there he grew into a character who came to terms with the reality that as his own power grew, so did the power of the new tormentors he was now often in conflict with, due to the source of his newfound strength...and his strength and brutality and apathy were not at all the tools able to help him find true protection and recovery in his new world. They just weren’t going to get the job done, and that’s when he started to let Scott’s example sink in and take his lead from that, finding the power and strength in committing himself more to others, becoming more of an active participant rather than just a spectator or a henchman who needed orders before acting.....allowing himself to be vulnerable in exchange for the benefits being more open to others afforded him.

Isaac’s growth onscreen from season to season was the very thing that made him so interesting and enjoyable to me....as well as how his bond with Scott did the same thing....so when the former isn’t really present in fics, even the presence of the latter doesn’t really do a whole lot for me. And its the same thing in the Danny/Isaac fics I read, so yeah. There for it in theory, but the execution I’ve found has never done anything to make it any more compelling a ship possibility than any other random ship.

I think that’s pretty much everyone though? Well I mean like, there’s Corey, but I don’t have strong feelings about that possibility one way or another. And there’s Derek, given the whole ‘Miguel’ thing in S1, but you know me, even in future/aged-up settings, I still tend to be ‘what if Derek dated people his own damn age tho, like just for the sheer novelty, let’s explore that some more’.....not to mention that as the show progressed, the more fandom hated on Braeden and her relationship with Derek, the more I spite-shipped them. To the extent that now I find it hard to picture even AUs where they’re not endgame, or if Derek HAS to be in another ship for some reason, then they still were a super serious relationship before the fic and there’s always that hint of her being the one that got away, kinda. 

*Shrugs* What can I say? The enemy ship of my enemy is my OTP. The Art of War, fandom style. I have no problem admitting it, lolol.

But yeah, that’s all of them I think now.

‘SNL’ spoofs CNN’s LGBTQ town hall, Ellen DeGeneres with Billy Porter

Democratic presidential candidates, Billy Porter and an unexpected kiss were all part of the opening skit on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

This week’s CNN LGBTQ town hall was prime fodder for lots of laughs and cameo appearances during Saturday night’s episode.

Alex Moffat’s Anderson Cooper said they were “going to go out – all out,” bringing “Pose” star Billy Porter to the stage, in the first of many guest appearances during the sketch.

Porter served up hilarious introductions for all the candidates, starting with Chris Redd’s Sen. Cory Booker: “He may live in the projects, but ladies, he ain’t no project!”

When an audience member asked whether the politician has always been supportive of the gay community, bringing up a 1992 op-ed where “(Booker) said some very derogatory things about the gay community,” Redd’s Booker said, “I don’t want you to think I’m dodging the question, so I’m going to go now.”

Colin Jost’s Pete Buttigieg, who Porter announced was “representing House of Buttigieg,” had a pointed answer when someone asked: “How do you respond to those who say you’re not gay in the right way?

“I’ve heard that, but there’s no wrong way to be gay, unless you’re Ellen this week,” Jost’s Buttigieg ribbed, taking aim at Ellen DeGeneres and her comments about being friends with George W. Bush.

Porter issued a “Warrening, Warrening!” before welcoming Sen. Elizabeth Warren to the stage.

“Y’all known I’m not a lesbian, but all the ingredients are there,” Kate McKinnon’s Warren joked.

McKinnon’s Warren then launched into a spot-on re-enactment of the real Warren’s interaction during the town hall about gay marriage, before flipping the script and delivering her best burns.

“So, Senator, let’s say you’ve been on the campaign trail. How would you respond if someone said to you ‘I’m old fashioned, and my faith teaches me that marriage is between one man and one woman’?” the audience member asked.

“I would say, sir, tell me your bus stop, ’cause I want to know where you get off,” McKinnon’s Warren said. “If someone doesn’t wanna serve gay people at their small business, I bet that’s not the only thing that’s small. And when people say gay and trans people shouldn’t be included in Civil Rights Act protections, well, I wish their parents had used protection.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda stopped by from “the house of urban deliciousness” as former Obama HUD Secretary Julián Castro, who was asked what he will do to bring queer voices into his cabinet. 

“Well, first of all, gracias,” Miranda’s Castro said. “As a Democrat, I want to apologize for not being gay, but I promise to do better in the future. However, I am Latino, which we can all agree is something. Look, I’m young, I’m diverse. I’m LatinObama, let’s get the hashtag going!”

He continued: “There was once another man who left his mark on this nation’s history,” getting interrupted just as a song from his musical “Hamilton” started to play. “I was going to say Al Gore!”

The final candidate to grace the stage was “the Delaware daddy whose only vice is the choo-choo train,” aka Woody Harrelson’s Joe Biden. 

“SNL” targeted Biden’s gaffes on the campaign trail and allegations of inappropriate behavior. 

Harrelson’s Biden seemingly flirted with an audience member (“Oh, look at you. If I told you you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?”), who asked about his past support of the military’s “don’t ask don’t tell” policy. 

After a long pause in remembering the year of his story (1926) to answer the question, Harrelson’s Biden recounted: “I was in downtown Dover with my father, and we see two well-dressed men, very well-dressed men – you know what I mean by well-dressed, right? Who’s nervous about this story, show of hands? … These men turned the corner and kissed, and I turned to my daddy and I say ‘What the huh,’ and he said ‘Baby, they were born this way.’ And that was Delaware 19-clickicity clack.”

Harrelson’s Biden ended the sketch by asking Moffat’s Cooper if he had “ever been kissed by a vice president before?” before planting a kiss on his lips.
