You're totally right my dude, but Mantis didn't feel her own death coming. Peter felt his coming and for a 17 year old (anyone and everyone else too I guess, but Peter hasn't really had to think about dying before this ((that we know of))), that's pretty terrifying. Yes, its horrible that Mantis could feel something coming, but so did the others. Back in Wakanda, people could sense Thanos coming too (and that's slightly different, I know, but it's still kinda going with my point).
Granted, Mantis can feel a lot more, (and don't get me wrong, Mantis is absolutely AMAZING(x) and Pom is just as fantastic in that role) but Mantis doesn't exactly know what is happening. All she says is 'something's happening'. Mantis feels others emotions (as stated above) and while she has some pretty cool other powers (she can even see the future at times in the comics), Mantis felt the emotions stop, not the actual deaths.
Mantis felt the galaxy disappear from her comnection, but she didn't feel the pain of the deaths bc pain isn't an emotion. She didn't even know that they had died in the first place, just that something was either about to happen to them, or something was happening with her powers (maybe that everyone's powers were going to disappear, but there's no evidence of that that is concrete) that was about to happen to the others with powers.
Peter, though? Peter's spidey sense tells him if he's about to die. Its like a danger sensing kinda thing for what's happening around him, but it also works to keep Peter himself out of danger. It varies in its strength depending on how much danger Peter is in. The thing is though, Peter can't do anything to stop the danger to himself, because it's an unstoppable force. Peter feels himself dying, feels the emotions around him that Mantis is sensing, and Mantis is sensing at least tenfold of what Peter is, I know that, because I'm in no way saying that Mantis isn't having a horrible time because she feels the panic and the despair of the Galaxy, but, Peter feels the pain. Peter feels the death coming because his senses are telling him he's going to die. Mantis doesn't know what the panic is about, why everyone is so horribly upset-
but Peter? Peter does. Peter's senses are going crazy for those he's around's-as well as his own-safety, and he also knows what's coming. He knows that all of the people he's sensing danger for those who are going to die, and he can't stop it.
You're right, Mantis deserves credit for sensing something was about to happen, and I don't want this post to erase her (which is why I just wrote all of this), but that's also why I made my original thing about Peter sensing the danger. Mantis knew something was wrong, but Peter knew what was wrong.
Someone pointed out Peter felt himself fade bc of his spidey sense and yeah, he did.
Everyone else who faded seemed surprised when it started happening to them, unable to comprehend they were disappearing. Even Nick Fury seemed surprised when it happened, getting caught on a curse.
Peter, though? Peter went for who provided the most comfort, in an attempt to try and save himself. He felt his body start to fade before the first ashes fell. He went to Tony because he knew what was happening and he thought that if anyone could stop it, Tony could.
And Tony had to watch as the person he saw as his own child broke into dust while pleading with Tony to help him.
