The last time...
There were one, two, three, and four
And way too much to explore
There was melody in the sun
And a very slow run
There were stories and tales
Smooth and rough trails
Woven but smelly threads
Some not so real trends
Flavours new and old
Walls with stolen gold
New faces with colors old
And old faces with new folds
Some minutes of solitude
And positive attitude
The late-night talks
And very noisy walks
Moments of dreams came true
Souvenirs we sew
Happiness made me cry
I just don't know why
Now this is a sad rhyme
Because it was the last time.
The most memorable school trip! "Class of 2024"
Gwalior diaries!!!!

5 Interesting facts about Diwali
Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, is one of the most widely celebrated religious occasions across the world. Here are some of the most surprising facts about Diwali that you probably didn’t know.
1. The day Lakshmi visits her devotees
Goddess Lakshmi visits her devotees and bestows gifts and blessings upon each of them. To welcome the Goddess, devotees clean their houses, decorate them with finery and lights, and prepare sweet treats and delicacies as offerings. Devotees believe the happier Lakshmi is with the visit, the more she blesses the family with health and wealth.
2. Different Diwali stories
Many see Diwali honouring the return of the lord Rama, his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana from exile, as told in the ancient Hindu epic called the Ramayana. To some, Diwali marks the return of Pandavas after 12 years of Vanvas and one year of agyatavas in the other ancient Hindu epic called the Mahabharata. Many other Hindus believe Diwali is linked to the celebration of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, and wife of deity Vishnu. The five day festival of Diwali begins on the day Lakshmi was born from the churning of cosmic ocean of milk during the tug of war between the forces of good and forces of evil; the night of Diwali is the day Lakshmi chose Vishnu as her husband and then married him. Some Hindus offer pujas to additional or alternate deities such as Kali, Ganesha, Saraswati, and Kubera. Other Hindus believe that Diwali is the day Vishnu came back to Lakshmi and their abode in the Vaikuntha; so those who worship Lakshmi receive the benefit of her good mood, and therefore are blessed with mental, physical and material well-being during the year ahead. But mostly the festival is considered the return of the Lord Rama and Sita after completing fourteen years in exile.
3. On the day of Diwali, Lord Mahavira attained his Moksha
In Jainism, Diwali commemorates the anniversary of Lord Mahavir‘s attainment of moksha, or freedom from the cycle of reincarnation, in 527 B.C.E. Lord Mahavir was the 24th and last Thirtankar of Jainism and revitalized the religion as it is today. First referred to in Jain scriptures as dipalikaya, or light leaving the body, it is said that the earth and the heavens were illuminated with lamps to mark the occasion of Lord Mahavir’s enlightenment.
4. Sikhs commonly called Diwali Bandi Chhor Divas
Diwali, for Sikhs, marks the Bandi Chhor Divas, when Guru Har Gobind Ji freed himself and Hindu Kings, from Fort Gwalior, from the prison of Islamic ruler Jahangir, and arrived at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Ever since then, Sikhs celebrate Bandi Choor Divas, with the annual lighting up of Golden Temple, fireworks and other festivities.
5. It is a national holiday in India, Trinidad & Tobago, Myanmar, Nepal, Mauritius, Guyana, Singapore, Suriname, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Fiji. And is an optional holiday in Pakistan.
Diwali is celebrated around the world, particularly in countries with significant populations of Hindu, Jain and Sikh origin. These include Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Mauritius, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, the Netherlands, Canada, the United Kingdom,United Arab Emirates, and the United States. With more understanding of Indian culture and global migration of people of Indian origin, the number of countries where Diwali/Deepavali is celebrated has been gradually increasing. While in some countries it is celebrated mainly by Indian expatriates, in others it is becoming part of the general local culture. In most of these countries Diwali is celebrated on the same lines as described in this article with some minor variations. Some important variations are worth mentioning.

[ad_1] Paromita Das GG News Bureau New Delhi, 25th Dec. Today, December 25th, 2024, is a momentous day for Bharat. It marks the 100th birth anniversary of one of the most beloved and influential figures in our nation’s history, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji. Revered as a statesman, poet, and visionary, Atal Ji’s leadership and transformative contributions remain etched in the hearts of Bharatiya. His centenary is an opportunity not only to celebrate his life but also to reflect on his unparalleled legacy as the architect of Bharat’s transition into the 21st century. The Context of Leadership: Stability Amid Turmoil When Atal Bihari Vajpayee assumed office as Prime Minister in 1998, Bharat was grappling with a period of political turbulence. Between 1989 and 1998, the nation witnessed four Lok Sabha elections, and the frequent changes in government had eroded public trust in the democratic system. People were losing patience and growing sceptical about the ability of governments to govern effectively. Atal Ji’s ascent to power marked a decisive turning point. He brought much-needed stability to the nation, establishing a government that lasted a full term—a rarity during that era. This stability was not just political but also developmental, as his administration laid the groundwork for reforms that would shape modern Bharat. Humble Beginnings and Profound Insights Atal Ji’s leadership was deeply influenced by his humble beginnings. Born in Gwalior on December 25, 1924, in a modest family, he experienced the struggles of the common man firsthand. These formative experiences imbued him with an innate empathy and an understanding of the transformative power of governance. Throughout his political career, Atal Ji’s eloquence and poetic vision resonated with people from all walks of life. His ability to articulate complex ideas in simple terms made him a leader who could connect with the masses while commanding respect on the global stage. A Visionary for the 21st Century Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure as Prime Minister was marked by far-reaching reforms and bold decisions that propelled Bharat into the modern era. Among his most notable contributions was his emphasis on the Information Technology (IT) and telecommunications sectors. Recognizing the potential of these industries, he spearheaded initiatives that positioned Bharat as a global IT powerhouse. The New Telecom Policy of 1999, introduced under his leadership, revolutionized communication in Bharat. It paved the way for affordable mobile connectivity, bringing millions of Bharatiya into the digital fold. This policy not only democratized access to technology but also catalyzed economic growth, creating new opportunities for businesses and individuals alike. Infrastructure: Laying the Foundations for Growth Another hallmark of Atal Ji’s tenure was his focus on infrastructure development. The Golden Quadrilateral project, an ambitious highway network connecting the major cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, stands as a testament to his vision. This initiative transformed the country’s transportation landscape, facilitating trade and connectivity on an unprecedented scale. Atal Ji also championed rural development through the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which aimed to provide all-weather road connectivity to unconnected villages. These initiatives reflected his belief that infrastructure was the backbone of economic progress and social equity. Nuclear Tests: A Bold Assertion of Sovereignty One of the defining moments of Atal Ji’s leadership was the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998. Conducted in the face of international pressure and potential sanctions, these tests demonstrated Bharat’s resolve to assert its sovereignty and strategic independence. Atal Ji’s deft handling of the global fallout, combined with his outreach to world leaders, underscored his diplomatic acumen. Humanitarian Leadership and Diplomacy Atal Ji was not just a reformer and strategist; he was also a humanitarian leader who prioritized peace and dialogue.
His efforts to improve relations with Pakistan, exemplified by the historic Lahore Bus Yatra in 1999, reflected his commitment to fostering goodwill in the region. Despite challenges, his pursuit of peace remained unwavering, earning him respect both at home and abroad. A Legacy of Inclusive Governance Atal Ji’s governance was characterized by inclusivity and consensus-building. As the leader of a coalition government, he masterfully navigated diverse political ideologies to achieve common goals. His approach was rooted in the belief that dialogue and collaboration were essential for a vibrant democracy. Under his leadership, programs like the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan aimed at universalizing elementary education and the Antyodaya Anna Yojana for providing subsidized food grains to the poorest underscored his commitment to social welfare. These initiatives reflected his vision of a self-reliant and equitable Bharat. An Inspiration Beyond Politics Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s impact transcends the realm of politics. His poetic compositions, rich with themes of love, patriotism, and humanity, continue to inspire generations. His speeches, often laced with wit and wisdom, remain a treasure trove of guidance for leaders and citizens alike. Atal Ji’s ability to remain humble and grounded despite his towering achievements made him a true statesman. His legacy serves as a reminder that leadership is not just about power but about service, vision, and integrity. Conclusion: A Nation’s Gratitude As we commemorate the 100th Jayanti of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, we are reminded of his enduring contributions to our nation.
