Link Click Musical update 177
(Deng Xianling's birthday and more Guo Hongxu CXS)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Official updates: Encore Musicals released a performance schedule till September 1st, you can see it on top of their weibo acc 🌟There's also a birthday clip for Deng Xianling, it's really cool >>
On the other hand, Bilibili World 2024 (it's like a huge convention in Shanghai) announced its guests and events. Obviously LC donhua has it's booth, I don't have to talk about it here. BUT! You know what nobody expected? LC musical will have it's own separate event 🎉Prob a talk + a meet and greet with the actors (Cai Qi, Wang Minhui & Deng Xianling). If anything interesting happens there, I'll make sure to inform you all o7
June 9th, noon: Guo Hongxu, Wang Minhui, Deng Xianling
Let's focus on a birthday girl first, then move on to shiguang.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her crown kept falling off ><
Tumblr media
The very end of the encore turned chaotic ><' They were all running around, ghx was busy taking a video while wmh was high-fiving the audience. First wmh hit himself in the chin on ghx's head, then Zhu Jiayan got distracted by them and almost fell off the platform (Zhang Jiahao caught her 💪). It was silly, nobody got hurt so dw, it just looked like in Looney Tunes.
Tumblr media
And since it's hard to tell 8th and 9th performances apart, have all Guo Hongxu moments in one batch:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wang Minhui truly has an angelic patience for his Xiaoshi partners

lc musical clip list pt.4! i'm calling this one, the birthday special!!
(pt.1, pt.2, pt.3, pt.5, pt.6, pt.7 here)
Why is this the birthday special, well because of this:
51. 28/02/2024, Happy BDay Guo Hongxu! I don't usually upload promovid but uhh he's so cool in this one so, here. Sidenote, Shu Rongbo is very hyper and cute this performance. And Qian Anqi's cute english plss i love her.
52. 03/03/2024 night, Happy BDay Zuo Yiping! Watch also, Cao Muzhi penguin walk across the table, Wu Yihan please watch your steps and don't poke other people's cake!!
(funny coincidence, I happen to watch a Santa Lucia/Mio Fratello clip of Cao Muzhi-Wu Yihan just a couple days before this)
53. 10/03/2024 night, Happy Bday Shu Rongbo and Wu Yihan!! Hehe the way Qian Anqi knocks their heads together and insisted to sing them happy birthday is so cute. Wu Yihan said 'Happy Birthday' before their customary Guiding Light hug. And pls someone translate (or at least transcribed) the closing speech for me, there's a lot of laughing involved, I'm curious. Also, have this bonus stage door clip.
Some funfacts. Since last year they play in the same 4 musicals including Link Click and out of those 4 plays they shared 2 roles. Shu Rongbo played a total of 9 roles while Wu Yihan played 7. (Yes, I am at that level of hyperfixation)
54. 11/03/2024, HBD Teng Chunpeng! LMAO It's you, so of course your promo video would be great! His face during the sofa choreo though. And why are both him and Du Guangyi stomping and jumping on the table so hard. You menaces, please you're gonna break it. The couch trio is also looking cute behind them.
Moving on from the birthdays starting with this special one,
55. 11/03/2024 Valentine's day special, <- Official ver. Forgive my language TENG CHUNPENG DU GUANGYI YOU FCKING TEASE! YOU GEM OF A HUMAN BEING! Have this fancam with the superior angle.
(This makes Du Guangyi the first and only actor who have played all 3 roles in that scene. Congrats!)
56. Special Encore rehearsals/BTS! Special mentions to Teng Chunpeng's fashion sense, Wu Yihan's cute act, Ding Xingchen's falling wig, Zhang Jiahao's IDGAF mood, and Wang Minhui's violent tendencies.
57. 26/02/2024, when I say Cai Qi and Wang Minhui have the best dynamic, this is what I meant.
58. 29/02/2024, watch Ji Xiaokun and Guo Hongxu's "Oi!" "Oi."
59. 01/03/2024, Look at them stumbling through singing "Guiding Light" and it's a Wu Yihan-Shu Rongbo duo which means hug! Also Wu Yihan, why are you a menace at holding hands, this time with Zou Ziyue.
60. 03/03/2024 day, why is there a piglet??? Why are you seasoning the piglet??? Why are you stepping on the piglet?? Why is the piglet bowing?? piglet??
61. 04/03/2024, Bai Zhuoming being extra sassy and playful on the couch makes me so happy. Of course Cai Lu also becomes playful in response. Typical Guiding Light mistake also causes Wang Minhui to crack.
62. 07/03/2024, Guo Hongxu putting up the wrong foot and stumbling on the sofa choreo.
63. 07/03/2024, same performance as above, Ji Xiaokun being annoying <3. When other pairs hug, they wrestle.
64. 10/03/2024 day, Mooom! Cai Qi and Wang Minhui are fighting instead of doing rock-paper-scissors again.
65. 09/03/2024 day, uuuhh Wu Yihan sitting on the counter like that with those lights and shadows during Guiding Light is creepy.
66. 09/03/20204 night, love me some Du Guangyi shenanigans, the way he just gives up on the handshake and walk off the table plss and him teasing Deng Xianling during the closing speech. Speaking of, she brings out the bat and forces their arms to form the heart. Then there's Bai Zhuoming being cute and the little shimmy dance he does.
67. 09/03/2024 night, bonus to the one above. Du Guangyi last minute adlib was unexpected but very enjoyable. Also, I love the contrast between his and Bai Zhuoming's tutting.
That's all for now!
Bonus clip with Bai Zhuoming! The song "Number 7" from "Fan Letter" musical is really good, I'm obssesed. But special performance where they're joined by their alternate cast? And his alternate cast is, Shu Rongbo? Even better!! They're kinda in their own world too. Here's a close up. Their voices go so well together!
(I swear they're playing something on that paper, and that makes it 3 musicals I know where they share the same role. Is it time I made a venn diagram?)
so at which point do i admit this brainrot is slowly but surely turning from linkclick focused to actor focused?

Two Monks
a short story, by me, about a pair of monks and a historic heist
It was a warm, dry day, saved from being unbearable by a gentle breeze, when Methodios and Nektarios made their way to the main building of the compound to take their leave. The pair of monks had spent their lives traveling far and wide across the lands of the east, spreading the gospel as best they could through Persia and India and China, and they had stayed in this place on the western edge of the Chinese kingdoms for long enough.
The monks waited for a few minutes before being admitted into the audience of the local official, Administrator Hou Guanyu. Administrator Hou was a grandiose man and an ambitious one, a large fish in a small pond who fancied himself worthy of the ocean. The room in which he met with the monks was well appointed in a deliberate show of wealth, and the Administrator presented himself with an air of confident authority.
"We have come to take our leave of you, Administrator Hou," Methodios said when called upon to speak in careful, practiced Chinese. "We thank you for your generous hospitality."
Administrator Hou frowned. "Not too generous, I hope. I know I have many things here coveted by others, treasures acquired through our place at the start of the Silk Road. Take your leave of here, but I will have my guards escort you out to ensure that is the only thing you take."
--
"Will you miss me," Liu Xiuying asked as she lay in bed with nothing but the silk sheets to preserve what was left of her modesty, "when you go back to your lonely monastery?"
Nektarios stood, letting the air cool his sweat-soaked skin. "Oh, I will almost certainly miss you earlier than that."
            "Then stay."
Nektarios turned to look back at Xiuying, admiring the way the candlelight caused shadows to dance across the curves of her body. "And what would your husband think of that?"
Xiuying scoffed. "He is a fool. He will think nothing."
"If that is true, then what I'm about to ask of you shouldn't be too difficult."
            "And what might that be?"
"When Methodios and I meet with your husband to take our leave of this place, I need the meeting to be cut short. Something to take his attention."
Xiuying paused for a moment, considering. "Tell me, my dear sweet monk, whatever you seek to do, will it cause my husband harm?"
"Physical harm? No, I don't expect so. But I would be lying if I said I didn't anticipate him ruing this day."
A mischievous grin spread across Xiuying's face. "In that case, I have just the thing in mind. But I must make a request of you in return."
"And what, pray tell, is that?"
She flung back the covers, exposing herself in full to Nektarios' eager gaze. "Come back to bed."
--
A guard burst into the room, interrupting the proceedings. "Administrator Hou! A fire! A fire in the bedchambers!"
"What?" The Administrator's face went from stern and confident to panicked as he stood, rushing out of the room with the guard.
Methodios and Nektarios followed the others outside, dropping back away from the crowd of people moving hurriedly towards the back of the compound. Soon, they were alone, watching the clouds of dark smoke begin to fill the sky.
Methodios gave Nektarios a sharp look. "A fire? Truly?"
Nektarios threw up his hands. "All I said was 'take his attention,' not, 'burn the place down.'"
"It makes no matter now. We have to act quickly."
The two monks crept as fast as they dared through the largely empty compound, moving towards the more carefully guarded areas in the rear until they came upon a small door next to a guards' barracks.
--
Guo Jiahao and Methodios sat across from one another staring at the go board between them. It was an evenly matched game, as many of them had been lately. Nektarios had never managed to get the hang of it, but Methodios was a man of careful planning and strategy and it had only been a matter of time before he was able to hold his own.
"So," Jiahao said as he placed a stone, "what's in this for me?"
"You mean besides the service you'd provide to the Church and the Emperor, who rules on Earth as God rules in Heaven?"
Jiahao shrugged his well-muscled shoulders. The guard was one of the few locals that the monks had managed to convert, but he still gave little regard to the hierarchy of the Church.
Methodios placed his own stone on the board. "Well, as if you needed further convincing, you'll receive gold, silks, and a cask of fine wine. Just so long as you share the latter with the other guards and add a little something… extra to it."
"I see." Jiahao placed his next stone.
Methodios took his turn, placing what looked like another stone onto the board. It was a rookie move, and Jiahao was able to immediately capture it, picking the apparent stone up off the board. "It's a pretty strong soporific, so that should be enough to take care of it. Make sure it fully dissolves"
Jiahao gave the slightest of smiles. "For the Church and the Emperor, I'll make it happen."
--
The door opened to reveal Guo Jiahao. He glanced back and forth to ensure no one was watching before opening the door fully and waving the monks inside.
"Go, hurry! The other guards are asleep now, but in this chaos, someone will surely come to wake them soon."
Methodios and Nektarios made their way through the buildings and courtyards of the rear portion of the compound, moving from shadow to shadow and ducking around corners. If they were seen here, they would have very little plausible deniability, and they stood out as the only westerners in the compound.
--
The two monks strolled through the garden in the early morning, watching the sky begin to lighten in anticipation of the dawn. Around them, the compound was just beginning to come to life, and people were going about the start of their daily business.
They wandered near a woman working amongst the mulberry trees, paying her no mind as they slowed their pace, coming to a stop nearby.
"Wang Mei," Methodios said in a voice only the woman could hear. She began to look up. "No, go about your work, pretend you don't hear me."
"Heard you've got a brother," Nektarios whispered, deliberately looking away from Mei as she nervously pretended to ignore the two men standing near her. "A soldier. Noble work, protecting the imperial court. You should be proud of him."
"Unfortunately," Methodios continued, "he seems to have associated himself with some dangerous people."
"An official who thinks that the Paramount General has just a bit too much control over the Emperor and wants to take him down a peg." Nektarios tutted disapprovingly. "That's a pretty serious thing to get involved in."
"Uncovering such a plot would be rather expedient for someone such as our beloved Administrator Hou, wouldn't you think?"
Mei was shaking, barely able to maintain the façade of indifference. "What do you want?"
"I think you know what we're after," Nektarios replied. "We'll come by for it on the day we take our leave."
"We'll keep your brother in our prayers," Methodios added as the two monks resumed their peaceful morning walk through the garden.
--
The two of them came upon a small building and Nektarios gave a quick knock on the door. Wang Mei answered, holding a silk-wrapped package in her hands.
            "Is that it?" Methodios asked.
Mei gave him a resentful look. "Yes. I've kept my end." She handed the package to Methodios.
"In that case," Nektarios said, "we'll be leaving, and we'll take your secret with us."
"Good riddance to you." Mei shut the door.
Methodios and Nektarios avoided the watchful eyes of servants and the rushing about of guards as they made their way back to the door that led to the front portion of the compound, the one in which they could move about largely unchallenged. As they opened the door, they were greeted with the point of a lowered halberd.
"Well," Administrator Hou said, a small contingent of guards surrounding him, "it's lucky we dealt so quickly with that little fire. If we hadn't, we wouldn't have caught these two thieves sneaking about."
"Thieves?" Nektarios looked indignant. "You mistake us, Administrator. We simply got lost in the chaos."
"The contents of your bags will prove your guilt." Administrator Hou turned to address his guards. "Search them."
--
"Rise."
Methodios and Nektarios stood, taking in the grandeur of the throne room. Compared to his surroundings, the stern man who sat in front of them frowning in thought felt unimpressive. The wealth and power of Eastern Rome was at his beck and call, but in this moment Justinian seemed to simply be a man burdened with the weight of the world.
"What you propose is not something to be taken lightly," Theodora, the actress turned empress, spoke from her place at her husband's side. "The greatest treasure of the far east, this could fundamentally change the balance of economic power to our benefit."
"And it would be an international embarrassment if it fails." The Emperor massaged his forehead with his hand, working over the enormous risks and the enormous rewards. "How certain are you that this could be achieved?"
"We've spent many years in the east," Methodios replied. "We've built contacts, we've observed their methods."
"All that's left is to take it," Nektarios continued. "With a little planning and a little luck, it'll be ours. And by extension, yours."
Some moments of silence passed before Justinian spoke again. "China has kept this secret for untold centuries. I hate to imagine the lengths they will go to protecting it. If you two are caught, this meeting never happened."
Methodios looked at Nektarios, then back at Emperor Justinian. "We won't get caught."
--
Administrator Hou was growing bright red in the face. "You are certain? Absolutely certain?"
"We've checked three times, Administrator," a guard answered. "They have nothing on them of value."
"The life of a monk is a simple one," Methodios said calmly, picking up his walking stick from where it had been tossed aside during the search. "We have seen many of the riches the world has to offer, but they all pale in comparison to the Lord's glory."
"If you would allow us to take our leave now, we would be very grateful," Nektarios continued as he picked up the simple wooden bowl and small book of scriptures that had been dumped from his bag.
Administrator Hou was seething, but he conceded. "Very well. It appears you were found before you managed to steal anything. My guards will escort you out."
The two monks were well away from the compound by the time the guards left them to continue their journeys alone. Once rid of their accompaniment, Methodios looked down into the inside of his bamboo cane.
"Did they survive getting tossed about like that?" Nektarios asked.
"It seems so, but only time will tell." The eggs showed no obvious signs of damage, and Methodios was hopeful. "God willing, they'll be feeding on Justinian's own mulberry trees soon, and making silk soon after that. No more paying exorbitant prices for silk imported from the east. The world will be paying us instead."
It was a warm, dry day, saved from being unbearable by a gentle breeze, when two monks walked with their unassuming possessions across the roads of Asia, making their way home once more.

Camp NaNo Day 3
WIP: Harbinger [War Quartet] Word Count: 967 967 / 150000 Excerpt:
He urged the horse forward. The silence was deafening. No one offered a greeting or welcome. The soldiers fidgeted anxiously as they approached the emperor and his generals. Their darting eyes and creased sweat soaked brows threatened the possibility of escalation. He maintained a slow pace so as not to spook them into conflict but it was the generals whom he fixated on. The men were farmers, craftsmen and merchants. They were too old or too young and none trained properly since their conscription. They feared them because they would be helpless in combat but the generals had served in the army and the government. Their distrust was not unjustified. What was an emperor to the xia? He could see why Guo Chaoxiang had taken the liberty of throwing the minister into the river. “Huangshang,” he greeted. “I come from the Nanchang Sect. My name is He Hongyi.” Dawning recognition flickered in the emperor’s eyes. “Ah.” “This is my eleventh disciple, A-lan, and my sixth, Jiahao.” They greeted him in unison. “I come on behalf on my laoye.” The emperor drew up to his full height. “He has agreed.” “The Nanchang Sect understands.” He nodded. “This dissent has flourished and disrupted the people’s peace. We will not stand by and do nothing in this time of need. We give our full support to your cause.”

⬆I've stumbled upon a profile of Guo Hongxu's friend (?), also an actor, who interacted with some of his pictures and thanks to that I found this stunning set of behind the scenes photos from the promotional photoshoot they did before the premiere. What's interesting, in the last picture you can see the actors were actually using Link Click artbook as a reference :>
I didn't realise earlier, but February 10th will be the Chinese New Years. That's why some actors are posting photos now, to sum up their year of work ^^

welcome to lc musical list pt7, long one bcs i've been stalling lmao (special thanks to the musical gang over at the 18+ lc discord for being the only reason im up to date whilst sick <3)
(pt.1, pt.2, pt.3, pt.4, pt.5, pt.6 here)
103. 04/05/2024 day, yall Shu Rongbo and Zhu Hanbin duo is here(shortest-shortest duo lol), my two favorite voices and theyre good together plss I want more of them. theres also sulky SRB refusing to get up on the table after getting pushed off by ZHB aaaand disastrous clap lol.
(also, it's srb lg completion day. congrats on being the first cxs who has played with all lg) (nvm, not anymore! theres 2 new lg actors lmao, srb is still the closest to completion though)
104. 05/05/2024 day, back to back Zhu Hanbin clip but most importantly, it's LG UPPIESS CLIP PLSSS Wang Yifei lifting up ZHB is perfection, they cute. also, chaotic bow lmao, ZHB just wanted to fix WYF's sprout.
105. 05/05/2024 day, same performance as above, have WYF getting bullied by ZHB into announcing his lost in basketball today (15:1 lmao)
106. 05/05/2024 night, right after ZHB bullied WYF 15:1, Teng Chunpeng came out with 101 points. What the actual fuck man. So have this rare encore of him being tired and less energetic than usual.
107. Basketball highlights week 1, simba Shu Rongbo, mad Jing Yanqiao, Du Guangyi scored with one hand, Ding Xingchen lost his shoe too. and many many others.
108. Basketball highlights week 2, 110 points Teng Chunpeng, summersault Du Guangyi, cheating Wang Minhui. Zhu Hanbin continues to ignore his opponent, he only got goals on his mind.
109. Extra behind the scenes, bcs i wanna point out, on 00:45 Du Guangyi talked about how tempted he was to score a goal during the slow part of the song. On the week 2 highlight (#108, 1:50) he gives in to temptation, and fails to score a single goal lol.
Du Guangyi is the true basketball god btw. he makes the best shots and whomever he picks to win, win.
110. More BTS vids, Wang Minhui is a basketball failure <3, especially whenever he's going against Bai Zhuoming.
111. 18/05/2024 day, Cai Qi and Wang Minhui have a shoelace fight lmao
112. 20/05/2024, It's Cai Qi and Wang Minhui again! This time they're having a puppy boxing fight. Yes, I meant that quite literally.
113. 18/05/2024 night, I think Shu Rongbo was particularly salty about losing(6:8) to Guo Hongxu this day lol.
114. Basketball highlights week 3, Shu Rongbo gets whacked, Bai Zhuoming backwards shot, Teng Chunpeng high pitched screams, and more!
115. 25/05/2024 day and 03/06/2024, have a pair of Guo Hongxu and Ji Xiaokun mic-cupping shenanigans.
116. 24/05/2024, This!!! The most tender hug, head cradle by Teng Chunpeng and Wu Yihan. WYH in general is very giggly this performance its so nice to see. TCP, ofc brags abt his basketball skills at the end and WYH just pushes him out lol. There's Zhang Jiahao sneak pillow attack too.
117. 01/06/2024 night, Wang Minhui and Cai Qi fighting on the table again? nothing new. Wu Hanglu (half successful attempt at) pushing them both off the table though? That's new.
118. 02/06/2024, Wu Hanglu rightfully hunts down Guo Hongxu after he introduces her as Deng Xianling lmao. it's the LG curse to struggle with names.
119. 03/06/2024, "rock, paper, scissors is boring. we should spice it up, whoever lose gets slapped"- probably Guo Hongxu and Ji Xiaokun backstage. Twice, during People Pursuing Light and the RPS song.
120. Basketball highlights week 4, Ding Xingchen scoring with his shoes?? what's with him and shoes. Sulky Ji Xiaokun. Zhu Hanbin's basketball skill is like Du Guangyi without the nonchalance and effortless look. Wang Yifei and Guo Hongxu 0:0 gameplay.
Closing this list with (the last?) basketball highlight we're gonna get. And at 120, pretty number. Next list, we're starting with Guo Hongxu in orange, 3 new actor debuts (theyre really good btw), the return of hug pioneers WYH-SRB duo, and maybe (based on how long the list gets) the debut of TCP-ZHB duo (aka tallest-shortest). So look forward to that!

AH阿 m & f Chinese From the Chinese character 阿 (ā) which has no distinct meaning. It is not normally given as a name, but it can be prefixed to another name to make it a diminutive.
AI (2)爱, 蔼f Chinese From Chinese 爱 (ài) meaning "love, affection", 蔼 (ǎi) meaning "friendly, lush", or other characters which are pronounced similarly.
AN (1)安 m & f Chinese, Vietnamese From Chinese 安 (ān) meaning "peace, quiet" or other characters with a similar pronunciation. As a Vietnamese name, it is derived from Sino-Vietnamese 安 meaning "safe, secure".

Full US Trailer for Dante Lam's Latest Action Movie 'Operation Red Sea'
"This mission is a message to all terrorists." Well Go USA has released an official trailer for an action movie titled Operation Red Sea, made by Hong Kong filmmaker Dante Lam, who last made the action movie Operation Mekong. This sort-of-sequel is about the Chinese Navy's elite Jiaolong Assault Team who gear up and head into action when a terrorist plot to obtain nuclear materials is hidden under the cover of a violent coup. The huge cast includes Yi Zhang, Johnny Huang, Hai-Qing, Jiang Du, Luxia Jiang, Fang Yin, Yutian Wang, Jiahao Guo, and Henry Prince Mak. This also takes place mostly in the desert, despite the "Red Sea" part of the title. ›››
