Third Gundam Reconguista in G Anime Film Premieres on July 22

  Back in November, the third Gundam Reconguista in G compilation film, Reconguista in G III: Uchu kara no Isan (Legacy from Space), was set for a summer 2021 opening in Japan. Now that date has been narrowed down to July 22, and a new visual and trailer are here to preview the continuation. 

  The theme song for part 3 will be "G" by DREAMS COME TRUE. Check out the new promo below.

    The TV anime directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, one of the original creators of the first Mobile Suit Gundam TV series in 1979-1980, was aired for 26 episodes in Japan from October 2014 to March 2015.

  Two years after the broadcast, the compilation film project was announced in 2017. Its 96-minute first chapter Reconguista in G I: Ike! Core Fighter / Go! Core Fighter was released in November 2019, then its 94-minute second chapter Reconguista in G II: Bellri Gekishin / Bellri’s Fierce Charge followed in February 2020. Tomino has served as the general director for the film project.

I finished watching G-Reco III. Just as they said, I believe there was a large amount of new animation. I couldn’t notice much revised dialogue, as I’m less familiar with the second half of the anime, but I noted that Mask did not reveal his identity in the amusing awkward lift scene. To think that neither Bellri nor Noredo realised. After all, he is wearing a mask, but his bearing is considerably different, as well. Even so...

But I forgot just how damn dense the latter half of G-Reco is. For all its additional content, it was still bloody difficult to track all the politics, factions, and character motivations. It doesn’t help that I’m so damn tired today...

Still, it was a nice movie. Once again, the cast distinctly benefited from the new scenes. Neither Bellri nor Aida easily swallow the revelation of their heritage, and Raraiya’s recovery continued its incremental progression. Finally, she’s back on her feet. Noredo was also given a brief, but much needed focus.

All in all, a good watch. Looking forward to G-Reco IV.
