SD Colonies Liberation Organization Mobile Suit XXXG-01D2 "Gundam Deathscythe Hell" (Endless Waltz Ver.)

Decided to pick up an SD to see what it's all about. This was a quick and simple build. The final kit turned out pretty cute and I'm tempted to buy more, but also the stickers are so annoying. Next time I might just paint the kit.

Y'all, I'm losing my damn mind. Some random Joan Cusack sitcom was out here in 2001, repping Gundam Wing Gunpla. Deathscythe, my beloved!

On a more serious note, it does kinda tell you where Gundam was in mainstream culture.

Lego Deathscythe, from Gundam Wing, scaled for playing Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack. The buster shield is a little too big and shiny (not to mention using a tile only found in the Voltron set), but it gets the point across. The previous version was smaller and looked the part better, but lacked the beam blade (just no space!). Might revert back to the previous version and save this iteration for the Hell custom.

Oh boy we are ALMOST there with all the TV forms of the main Wing cast's machines. Wit the RG Epyon due out in October, the only thing that hasn't been announced yet is TV Altron. Wufei's machine last? Wow! What a shocker!

The modern Wing HGs have all been fantastic, with great proportions, color separation, and engineering. This isn't different for the D.Hell either, another solid entry. I do have a slightly interesting thing to mention about it though! It's no surprise that the Build line was a way for the gunpla engineers to get certain bots not yet on the docket made in some way shape or form, and when we got the hilariously named Live Lance Heaven from the Breaker Battlogue line it was plainly clear that the D.Hell wouldn't be far behind... ...right? Well it took a while but we got it... right? Not really! The primary bit of engineering that marks the D.Hell out uniquely from other kits, its wings/cloak, is actually a completely new build from the L.Heaven... guess they didn't like that one as much? The new engineering is, admittedly, much more solid looking and feeling, and lends it to more solid posing as a result. I found that really amusing.

Is it no surprise this is the only real competition against Heavyarms for most people's favorite Wing suit? What a great design, its immediately recognizable, both as what suit it is, and its theme universally, but also quite unique in the way the cloak is done and the silhouette it creates both closed and open.

Taking the pictures against a black backdrop would've been more thematic, but I am lazy so... shrug More shots under the cut!
