Forgot to share on here but @cryptide-travis go Red Reload working today. Red Reload was so broken that they pushed an update a month later, giving us the Blue Reload that got ported to consoles and stuff after. Red has been trapped in Naomi arcade cabinets since February 2003. Until now. Everyone popoff for Travis's hard work!!!! 🥳🎉🎊🎊🎉🎉
The two Reloads can be distinguished by the color of the RELOAD text in the logo. Red was only ever released on arcade cabinets while Blue got several home console and PC ports.
Some GD-ROM files were from redump by MajorPBX and NovaAurora. Archive.org GD-ROM dump HERE. Travis' tweet with a Megaupload download of files to get it running: HERE.
BunniesFromHell shared a video showcasing some of the bugs/glitches in Red Reload. You can check that out over on Youtube HERE.
Red Reload was released in arcades February 04, 2003 and the Blue Reload patch 51 days later on March 26. Some of the glitches include characters have multiple infinite combos (Slayer bloodsucking loop?!?), general instability issues, a hard freeze that requires rebooting the cabinet, visual glitches, and unfair character balancing. It was so bad that a signature campaign was apparently launched by a "well-known celebrity" to pressure ASW into releasing a patch. It worked.

Guilty Gear XX♯Reload Comic Anthology Translation: Exploring New Horizons
This is a comic from the Guilty Gear XX Sharp Reload Comic Anthology, which I have been translating. The original scans of this comic are by @tillman and can be found on archive.org
Not much to say about this one expect that Anji Mito has been being a bisexual menace since 2003 and I love him for it. We will gather here to morn the loss of his silliness in localization. Oh also that comics with Japanese concepts that don’t have an English equivalent are annoying to localize but like…it’s not like they were made for localization. I do this because I love it.
You can read the previous translation here
And the next translation here
Usual disclaimer: I am not fluent in Japanese and all of this is a one Fia job so everything might not be 100% accurate but I always try my best!

Two idiots walk into a bar. The third laughs at them before proceeding to walk into it as well.
Translation assistance: @yomotsu-hirasaka + anonymous
Cleaned and original comics below the cut.
ID in alt.
Explaining the joke:
In Chipp's story path 3 in GG:XX, he gets brainwashed by Robo-Ky (yes, Robo-Ky has brainwashing / mind control abilities in GG:XX. It's played fairly seriously, but I find it funny). This is in order to use his abilities to accomplish the PWAB's agenda— capturing Japanese people.
In the game, Chipp successfully stabs Anji. Anji realizes what's going on and proclaims that he'll bring Chipp back to his senses (which he does not). The joke is that here, Anji is utterly oblivious to what Chipp was trying to do, assuming that Chipp's just trying to help him out.
Specific assistances:
@.yomotsu-hirasaka: Translating Robo-Ky's dialogue into regular text. Checked various small things for accurate transcribing.
Anonymous: Checked various small things for accurate transcribing.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this was awful and the entire reason it was awful is because I hold myself to an extremely high standard...
I noticed that the dialogue was similar to the dialogue between Chipp and Anji at the beginning of their meeting in Chipp's path 3. So in order to get a more accurate translation, I went to check a recording of of the dialogue on Youtube. However, it was just too different in tone and feeling for me to feel comfortable just using it without seeing the transcript.
So I said to myself, 'Let's go open up XX #RELOAD and change the language to Japanese; shouldn't take more than an hour all together'.
It turns out you can't change the language of XX #RELOAD. So I went to access XX #SLASH (because, well, may as well use the Japanese-only game if I'm going to be viewing the Japanese dialogue). It takes a while to access. I open it up, and check training mode quickly to make sure it's the correct version. It's the first iteration of XX. Not the third.
'Huh. Dang.' I say to myself, and proceed to actually access #SLASH.
It turns out #SLASH doesn't have a story mode.
I access XX again, utterly done with all of this, and then realize with dawning horror that I'll need to beat Ky's story path 2 in order to access Chipp's story path 3. Because the writers of XX really admired hedge mazes.
And then I remembered that the Guilty Gear Wiki has the original Japanese transcript along with having the English transcript.
And they had Chipp's full transcript.
It was... An exhausting and tumultuous use of 4 hours. But at least I can access Guilty Gear X Plus, now....? Like I've been wanting....?
Ugh.
Funny comic.
I've been rechecking some translations because I realized I was doing something incorrectly and I honestly forget how much I have to adjust these to make sense in English. More power to me, woohoo.... (<- exhausted...)

Asuka’s gameplay is already looking insane but I really wanna focus on this, how his name changes in the trailer.
You can see that his color scheme also changes with the name change. I assume R# is pronounced R Sharp, although obviously it brings to mind Guilty Gear XX #Reload.
So like, a few things to note here.
R. Kreutz and R. Sharp both have different color schemes, but neither of them are the color scheme Asuka had in story mode.
All of the gameplay we’re seeing is for R#, so what’s the deal with R. Kreutz? Is it not a different thing at all, what’s up with the color scheme? Is it like Akuma and Shin Akuma? Which is which?
Is there a story reason for this? Is R# even the same Asuka??
Nice cape.

. . .
Someone asked me a weird question, and I'm not sure I can give a straight answer but... based on what little I understand:
The Nintendo Wii version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core is based on the original PlayStation 2 port of the game.
The Nintendo Switch version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is "supposedly" based on the Arcade version of Plus R.
I don't have the precise details on this, so I can't confirm it or not.
All I can say is that the Steam version/PC version of Accent Core Plus R is probably the closest to the Arcade version, even compared to the XBox360 version.
This is largely why it might prove difficult to port Accent Core Plus R to the PlayStation 4/5 at this time... since the PlayStation 3 version of Accent Core Plus R is a "bad port" of the Arcade version... they would likely have to make a port of PlusR from Scratch for PS5 (if they ever decided to).
If anyone has more details on PlusR they could divulge to add to this post, I'd appreciate it... but so far, all I can really say is that Plus R itself is fundamentally an "arcade version" of Accent Core Plus (ACPlus was an "append" to the original PS2 port of the game, but later ported to Arcades in a completely different way).
It took nearly a year to "patch" to the PS3 version of Accent Core Plus to a semi-stable "Plus R" build... so that should give you some idea why the PC version is probably the most stable version in existence.
Prior to ACPlus on the PS2, was the unstable builds of Accent Core, which are famous for the I-No Fortissimo Crash bug, among other issues it had.
Prior to that was GGXX Slash and GG Isuka builds, which were based on Blue Reload, which was based on Red Reload which was based on the original "unpatched" Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival.
GGXX had several "Arcade Naomi ports" based on the games I just listed, but they aren't nearly as big a project as Plus R was to reverse-port.
Again, I have no idea if they will ever port this game to PS4 or PS5... but I have my doubts.
It's also why it's less likely to see a modern port of GGX1.5 or Guilty Gear X Plus on anything beyond Naomi/Atomiswave/PS2 console emulation.

“ "Asuka R♯" has two meaningful references. "♯" is the symbol indicating a sharp or major pitch for musical keys. It's also a reference to the first updated version of his series debut: Guilty Gear XX ♯Reload. The "♯" symbol is also referred to as the double-cross (or Doppel-Kreutz in German). It is a pun on the fact that the playable Asuka is a magic doppleganger fighting in the real Asuka's stead. “
i’m gonna throw Daisuke down a well
