playing guillaume's route rn and it's so funny how leopold has approached iolanthe to speak with her personally twice now 🤣🤣🤣 (trying to see if i can get the betrayal route out of curiosity.... now i have thoughts about former crown princess iolanthe vilquine marrying duke leopold stavizzi after a scandalous divorce)

also, leopold saying that he put himself forward as the king just to show how seriously he was challenging auguste in guillaume's route vs. him seeming to be full speed ahead towards taking the throne in his own route.... the major difference is iolanthe's support (and the fact that leopold is v much in love and loves her v much and objectively believes she'd be a good queen)

(yeah leopold is a red flag too but also he makes sure iolanthe is his co-ruler in both word and deed so she still wins)

tbh, i actually like the drama being explored in the sequel since it does address the natural issues that would arise considering each LI's personality and flaws, e.g. leopold and his motivation being revenge

leopold/iolanthe!!! leopold was an unexpected fave LI in rose of segunda based on first impressions and i'm glad to see that his route is so fun in thorns of war. if you play iolanthe as succeeding in the game's tasks, that means she grew from a sheltered noble lady who can play pranks on tea parties to a queen playing chess with everyone else playing checkers. i wanna spin them both around in a microwave. segunda isn't ready!!

leopold.... he trusts iolanthe so much 😭😭😭 i tried lying to him about cashing in the silversmiths bonds and he looked so hurt and betrayed.

visibility points > 9 and going the "purchase goods" route doesn't seem to trigger the traitors ending even if leopold assassinates duke ozol ( --> throne of blood ending) or even if duke ozol grows suspicious (-> the stolen crown ending variant) so i'll try the 'steal goods' or 'report goods' route next time

interestingly, the above (silversmiths guild investigates -> lie to leopold about cashing in the bonds -> reconcile with leopold) somehow got me the missing leopold cg just before the last one of them on their thrones... wonder what's the requirement?

okay got the traitors ending with visibility points > 9 --> report goods as smuggled -> fail at asking sir mathys for help -> 😭.

and the cruellest cut ending might actually be the most depressing of the bunch, right up there with the murderer ending. so, for 'the cruellest cut', fail all your allies' quests in part 1 except for francelli bc you need to purchase the goods -> purchase goods -> 'good evening duke ozol' -> tell leopold the meeting went well. iolanthe goes behind leo's back to the council to reveal all of hus plans and negotiate the stavizzi's surrender in exchange for the guarantee that the vilquine will not retaliate against them. 🫠🫠🫠 ofc leo sees this as a betrayal, coming from the one he thought he could trust the most. 🫠🫠🫠 that line about him returning all of iolanthe's letters unopened and unanswered? 💔💔💔
