In my mind all the Digivolution trees or at least the ones that had logic behind them from the original Digimon World are still canon

Tyrannomon - is a big toothy dinosaur that keeps the fire type moves and even looks like agumon ( not a fan of it being moved to Guilemons tree just because both are red)

Monochromon - is a big toothy dinosaur of a very different type but both are from gen 1 and there were a few less dinosaurs back then I think its kind of a classic. in this case I think Monochromons attribute are split up evolving from Agumon for the dinosaur theme and from Gotsumon because of the rocky earth attribute theme. plus it can evolve into Triceramon which looks like a good alternate

Meramon - keeps only the fire type the polar opposite of Monochromon only keeping the dinosaur species aspect of agumon it is not a great fit since its so humanoid but the logic is consistent that if the agumon is raised differently different traits will shine.

Centaurumon - the only logic here is that early Centaurumon mostly learned fire moves. this ones a genuinely bad fit. truly a random digivolution and not canon

Birdramon- again consistent internal logic it keeps both the fire type and vaccine attribute but loses the dinosaur species therefore completing each way we could divide up Agumons traits, i'll even give this one points because most dinosaurs in digimon become dragons at some point anyway. but it is just too iconic of a birdramon evolution so this one must remain noncanon

A very stupid prompt that a friend just nailed into my head: what if the reptile like digimon needed to take sun just like real reptiles do, imagine a tamer returning to their house and finds their guilemon sunbathing like its the most normal thing in the world

Reptile-like Digimon can and absolutely will sleep in the sun and sunbathe. A lot of it is because they have lizard data deep down - sunbathing is def rooted in their days.

Even if said Digimon use a lot of fire-based moves, they can and Will sit in the sun and just. Warm up. It's nice!!! They're like cats w/ how it is, it just feels good on their skin. They don't really have cold blood, so it doesn't really matter, but they DO love it so... it's very normal for them, but if their Tamer questions it they'll just shrug and say it's nice, they should try it sometime!

6.) Shoutmon

I have a personal fondness for this guy (Guilemon and Agumon go in this category too) but they are the main characters, so they’re always going to be cool in a very traditional, marketable way. Very cool, but not the top.

5.) KingChessmon

He is SO shaped. Just a very round, ornate looking fellow. What silly shoes. What a funny mustache. Very good digimon.

4.) ToyAgumon

Ohohoho. Oh HO hoho ho. One of the Shapes of all time. That is all.

3.) Cutemon

TOP tier. He is PINK, he’s got the headphones and the scarf? A fashion icon. And just when you think you’re through? Peep the tiny little shoes. A digimon who brings it all to the table.

2.) Terriermon

You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like. Terriermon has it all, and reigns supreme as the digimon champ- wait, what? Terriermon is IT, but he’s ranked #2?? What could possibly-

1.) Oh. OH. Terriermon’s evolution, and the absolute fucking apex of digimon. Just when you thought this cute little guy couldn’t get any more endearing? He’s wearing fucking blue jeans. Why did they give him denim jeans? Science can’t understand the lasting appeal of Gargomon, but the heart is won over instantly by this sweet fella’s little pants.

Digimon Tamers: Episode 10

Digimon Tamers was a fun show, watched it from the start as a kid, yet I didn’t remember this body inflation scene until years later. Terriermon, a cute long-eared fellow, is entrapped in ice with Guilemon when in battle with the episode’s antagonist, IceDevimon. Luckily, his partner Henry puts one certain card into use for Terriermon, ‘Expanding Universe!!’/’Inflation Space!!’ (simply called ‘Expansion’ in English).

All of a sudden, as an image of space appears, the white of his body turns negative into pitch black while the green turns white. He starts swelling up, increasing just a little bit at first, instantly attaining a ball-shaped body with the limbs sticking out, the V-shaped green on his chest interrupted against his chubbier face, becoming vaguely heart-shaped instead. Then his whole body grows larger in a second stage, approximately three times his engorged size, the limbs rounder with the legs organised in a straight position. in this second stage, and then to a third point so enormous that the screen is almost totally filled by the sight of his massive belly, the arms and legs spread out distantly. Throughout this, the ice cracks with every stage, and this huge size is what breaks the block apart.

Now free, we get to see Terriermon in a front view. At first all we see is a massive black sphere of a stomach with the arms and legs uselessly standing out. He appears to be sitting on his round rear, presenting a soft spongy look as the roundness looks asymmetrical at the bottom. Terriermon then quickly deflates in one swift action, returning to normal colour in the process, his head (apparently facing the ceiling while inflated) coming into view.
