I saw your tags for my Wynn au nd I just wanted to comment that I absolutely love the idea for a trafficblr au included !!! I have so many more ideas for this au now Ahhhh
Hi omg!! I'm totally gonna ramble about my concept now because its so fun to think about. Its so good to see other Wynn players in the Life Series tags :D
Yeah, me and a friend have been fixated on Wynn for a bit so it's been buzzing around my mind. Since Martyn is already a cameo character (old man Martyn), I've been thinking about it so much. Also, yknow, Grian being a founder of the server. My premise for the AU was Renchanting based. Ren is a respected Paladin of the Ragni army trying to fix the corruption in the Wynn plains and Martyn, an assassin from Nesaak is like. hey. you know that old wizard that got corrupted? Yeah, yeah, I want to undo the damage he did. Let me prove I'm a good adventurer. Let me undo some damage. And Ren is obviously like "okay, dude, tag along anyway, I'm all for it". I think they'd probably meet some other people along the way, make the Renchanting group a guild and such. For the other members: Etho would be a Riftwalker Mage, Skizz would probably (??) be an Acolyte Skyseeker, BigB would be an Archer (maybe Sharpshooter?) and Impulse would probably be some kind of Knight too. If Tango were in it then he'd be a Fallen Warrior because of the damage boosts.
#A lot of this is a draft so anything outside of Ren and Martyn would probably change.#I think the Desert alliance would just be a rival guild in this type of AU.#Scott would totally be a Lightbender Mage OR a Trapper Archer. I think.#Grian would TOTALLY be an assassin too. Probably also a Trickster or Acrobat?#up the ante || asks#wynncraft#While this is about the other series. I am afraid to maintag LOL.

Morana blank intro
Found on Pinterest
Current occupation: The Emissary and right hand of the pirate queen Eris of the xylem sea
Past occupation: assassin kings right hand.
Gender: female
Age: 23
Hight:Five foot seven inches
Appearance:
White hair
Pale as snow skin
Scars on her back and left hip
Tattoos to symbolize her hits and achievements
Brand from going undercover as a slave to kill a target at twelve..took two months to get close enough
Tattoos descriptions: the tattoos are similar to vines unless the target was a high risk target then the assassin can get a rose, skull or crown depending on a few things Briath got a crown tattoo attached to some vines at age twelve... It's the same for all of the assassin guild although she has gotten a few tattoos herself for memorable hits.
Hight: Five foot seven inches.
She was raised by assassin's and has no clue her family tree, it is assumed her parents were slaves as her last name is blank and that's the name given to freed slaves.
She was the right hand of the assassin king until a mission went South and she was left behind by the other assassins they assumed she died....she did not die she was rescued by a pirate queen Eris and served as her right hand until she met a certain shaman by the name of Morana
She was and is a highly efficient fighter in hand to hand but she prefers to use a knife. She sees being left by the assassin guild as as a betrayal because she saw them as family ...... she is also a little psychotic
Briath could probably be the embodiment of trauma warnings she is a ex-assassin who didn't really give up the killing part yet and definitely has some issues to work through although knowing her she probably won't.

Every writer needs to go and read some fairly decent scifi with inconsistencies and plot holes in it and calm down. Nothing takes the stress out of writing like watching KA Applegate completely forget major plot threads mid-series, of Andy Weir have someone detach the gloves of the space suit that he specified doesn't have detachable gloves last chapter, or CJ Cherryh change the laws of the Assassin's Guild once every three books, and go "these guys rule I loved those books so much." Instant stress relief, every writer should do it.
Also if you're having trouble with character names then you need to read Snow Crash and have your brain remolded by two characters named Hiro Protagonist and Yours Truly, and stop taking names so seriously.

Now I need us âpretendingâ to forget about Emil, only to actully forget about it him.
Like, as a punishment we lock him in the basement and forget about him as a joke, send a maid down there once a day to feed him, but then we genuinely forget about with him, because we didnât realize how much work Emil does.
He gets feed once a day from a maid, but thatâs the only interaction he has. (Need some more angst before it gets fluffyđđ)
part 3 of this & 2
i don't know why i love this series so much i want to break emil so bad. i have so much fun writing pathetic emil whump.
cw;; domestic abuse, drugging, unsanitary, manipulation, dehumanization
things had been relatively peaceful since starting the divorce process. a process you had paid the information guild to purposely obstruct and delay while also leaking all the information about. at this point you met the guild master more than your own husband, in spite of emil's attempts. every day you would wake up to find some kind of expensive gift and your maids would inform you that emil was there to see you, to which you would dismiss both. but emil kept trying.
he wasn't even being drugged anymore but the effects had clearly taken their toll on his mind. according to the servants of the main house he wasn't doing his work, he would spend all his time wandering or sitting like he was the living dead, and they even heard him crying. your name and even mention of the queen title had been all but banned by his advisors in an attempt to get him to pull himself together. he wasn't.
the first time you saw him in 6 months was shortly after a meeting with the guild master discussing your next steps to take over the kingdom. you had decided with everything squared away you would go out for a walk by the fountain.
the moon was the only light on the usually vibrant garden, casting it in a somber darkness. the air was cold and heavy with the chilling change of seasons on the horizon so you were wrapped in a shawl. it was the perfect night to find him. your husband was standing on the bridge overlooking the fountain, he was staring down into the water longingly. you could see from his reflection in the water his eyes were sunken and there were bags under them, his hair was messy and uncombed, and he was paler than normal. he looked sickly and the cold blank look in his eyes didn't help.
he didn't even seem to notice as you approached when usually he would be on high alert or draw his sword. or he did notice.
"if you're going to kill me please make it quick." he must have thought you were some kind of assassin but more notably his voice was so soft and weak unlike anything you'd ever heard from him.
"i have no intention of killing you." your voice made his head shoot up with all the speed his weakened state could allow.
fresh tears pricked at the corners of his eyes. "(y/n)..? are you... real..?"
he stumbled towards you his feet struggling to carry him. you reached out and caught his surprisingly light body.
"you're re-"
"what's wrong with you? do you think dying will make things better?"
he flinched and his head fell to the ground.
"i thought you would break eventually and just admit you were wrong. but you'd rather die, hm?"
"i- you- i tried-"
"i don't want your excuses, emil."
he swallowed hard as tears began falling freely from his eyes. he opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. you couldn't help but take some kind of pity on the poor man, your hand running under his chin and forcing him to look back at your face.
"you're so pathetic... this is what the terrible tyrant becomes?"
you ran your thumb along his bottom lip before you leaned in close enough to feel his ragged breath against your lips.
"give up your pathetic life. give everything to me. everything ends when you give it to me."
he tried to lean forward enough to catch your lips but you kept out of his reach. instead of letting him kiss you, you pulled away from him completely. you stood up straight and pulled your arms away from his body causing the pathetic man to drop onto his knees. his body hit the cobble like you'd dropped a corpse but you decided not to care, choosing to turn away instead.
you started to walk away when you heard scratching and clawing at the stone under your feet.
"-ing please. please!" his voice clearly strained to try get your attention.
you stopped in your tracks waiting for him to speak but instead you heard more clawing and shuffling. eventually you felt his head bump into your leg like a cat greeting its owner. his bloody hands grabbed your leg and he held onto you as tight as he could while rubbing his head against your leg.
"emil. let me go."
"please take it... please take everything..."
"let me go."
"you want everything its yours. please."
"emil."
you finally dared to look down at him. he was so pathetic, his tears and blood were staining your pants. you let out a heavy sigh and reached down, your hand running through his tangled mess of hair.
"if you mean that then tomorrow concede your kingdom to me."
his peachy pink eyes looked up at you.
"do you understand?"
he nodded.
"then let go. you're getting me dirty."
he hesitated but he slowly let go of your leg.
âââ
of course your husband came through. he did as you ordered him, meaning you ascended to the title of king ahead of your schedule. while it certainly had its benefits it did leave a few things unfinished specifically on the guild master's end. so after everything settled into place you used your new found power to help staple in the final touches.
your husband who had been so happy to have you next to him again the past few months had to resume the drugs just so your hard work wouldn't completely slip away. he was still walking around like a corpse just a better maintained one. but no one seemed to have the time to pay much mind in the chaos of making you king. no one had the time to wonder where he went near the end of the chaos as you took over. and it was only when it was too late did his advisors even notice he wasn't anywhere to be found in the castle. you had to reassure them that he was currently tucked away from the public receiving the utmost medical care for his poor condition.
you ran a hand through your hair as you descended the dungeon steps, you were currently complaining to your maid about all the tedious parts of your job. there was an undeniable smile on your face though, the pride of having the most powerful kingdom in your hands made even the tedium valuable. your smile only widened twisting into a sick smirk as your torch caught onto the dirty form of your caged husband. he was on his knees clinging to the bars of his cell with tearful dead eyes.
"how long has it been, emil...?"
you walked over and crouched in front of him, he immediately went to push his head against your hand.
"your highness it's been 6 months since your last visit." your maid hung the torch nearby.
"really...? it's been over a year since i started this..."
your maid set about preparing emil's food while you pet him gently.
"i didn't mean to forget you down here."
the poor man didn't even seem to realize as he rubbed his head against your hand.
"oh emil... to think it only took a little over a year to break the mad king. to take everything away from you. to trap you in a little cage like you did my family."
the maid returned with some fresh water and a bowl of porridge. you pulled away from emil as she gave him his food. you watched his pathetic eyes look up at you desperately and you cocked your head to the side.
"your highness he's asking permission to eat."
your eyes lit up as you looked over at your maid. "oh my goodness!! you're incredible! i remember telling you i wanted to train him but to think you really went the extra mile..."
"thank you, sir. it's an absolute honor to break the man who destroyed my home."
your smile didn't fade as you looked down at the pleading former tyrant. "go ahead. but you can't use your hands."
emil hesitated before he finally shoved his face down into the bowl, eating like a pig with slop. it was a disgusting but amusing site, you and your maid had a good laugh at his expense.
once he was done you decided to give him a reward for good behavior. you crouched down in front of him and gently cleaned the mess off his face with a warm wash cloth. it was the closest thing he'd had to a real bath in the past 6 months. he was sobbing as he leaned into your hands.
it didn't last as long as he'd liked and you pulled away again.
"continue training him. id like to parade him around eventually so we should work with that goal in mind."
"you'll have his complete obedience. he won't even think to breathe without your permission."
"wonderful." you ran a hand down through his tangled mess of hair. "... I'll give you a budget so you can properly turn this area into the perfect training facility and our private friend can help you with the details."
"i look forward to it, your highness."
"i do too. when we're done with you you'll finally tell me you love me. you'll thank me for all of this, emi."
all you got was a whimper in response. you left your precious husband down in the dungeon, a forgotten and disgraced king.

TALES OF A DISGRUNTLED CORVID âș ă . MOZE
Quite frankly, you've been assigned an absolute loser (unaffectionate) to work with after your dramatic exit from the Intelligentsia Guild. Whoever said this guy was too silent was wrong, as he verily proves himself as the bane of your existence with his ceaseless yapping. art credits to @code_tesseract on x!! and tagging @ilovechuuy4 as requested :3 pairings: moze + male cryptologist reader (will be part of a series methinks) warnings: male reader, mentions of assassination? may be a touch ooc since this is pre-release writing unfortunately, lowkey crack fic, pre relationship, business partnership of hating each other wc: 1.9k
HONKAI STAR RAIL MASTERLIST
MASTERLIST ă»ăă»NAVIGATION
Thereâs never a dull day when a certain Shadow Guard is your partner for an assignment. Truly, your life always sparkles brilliantly when the information pings on your Jade Abacus; without fail, everything gains just a bit more colour, a bit more vivaciousness. Pathetically fallacious, you mightâve described it as had you taken literature classes: mood hued with such dynamic chromaticity that you fear you might explode into little prismic rainbows. Always such a bundle of joy to be geminate with him.Â
âMust you be so⊠disorganised?â
Oh, who are you kidding.
Itâs always a dull day when youâre paired with Moze.
âGet out.ïżœïżœ A particularly rude gesture materialises in your open hand as you stare at the door he practically kicked down. Apartments in this particular sector of the Xianzhou Yaoqing do not come cheap, and you half-wonder whether heâd eke out coin to console your landlord. Then, with an especially sour, lemon-like expression, you realise he would fork out his own money just to make your life more difficult.Â
When you first got assigned work in the Yaoqing (read: kicked to the curb by the Intelligentsia Guild to gain real world experience), you really did expect your tenure to be plain office work. Letters, forms, public relationsâthese mundanities you anticipated. In fact, you wouldâve relished such tedium; after decrypting endless scientific formulae and pondering your mysterious tomes, engaging in bureaucratic matters would be a piece of cake! A little treat for your weary eyesâif you closed them, you could still see faint imprints of equations in the theatre of your mind.Â
But what you hadnât factored into your (ahem) calculations was just how sharp the Arbiter-General Feixiao was: just how passionate she was about pursuing Abominations and ruthlessly eliminating them, just how frank and swift the Madam General was. You also forgot that out of all the flagships, the Yaoqing were one of the most militarily driven. A blunder most fatal.Â
âThy talents would be wasted in the mere administrative wing,â Feixiao gesticulated. âCome, child, put thy brain and brawn to use and track down these villainous curs most evil.â
âGoodness, Madam General!â youâd cried out pitifully. âMy heart is thine for the keeping!â
Or something like that. Actually, it may have not all been like that.Â
After all, you were kicked out (temporarily! temporarily!) partly due to your penchant for delivering heart-rendering performances to your professors to avoid taking on their extra work. Such moving renditions, that they had to let you go lest you broke their bleeding hearts. Had you known youâd be working in the shady corners of intelligence and decryption, you wouldâve kowtowed to the Guild for utmost forgiveness. Probably.Â
When your path first overlapped with the Shadow Guardsâ, you honestly couldnât give two hoots about the rumours that followed silently behind their own noiseless steps. Your ears had perked somewhat at the gossip your colleagues threw back and forthâthough, who could blame you. The job was no fun!
Weirdo with the crow feathers, theyâd murmured. Heâs so quiet. What a reticent chap.Â
Of course, youâd disagree, and perhaps tack on a loser to the descriptions of Moze. Youâd disagree not with the âweirdoâ, but rather with the quiet and reticent adjectivesâpartly because he really does need to shut up more.Â
And he needs to stick to his rumours more. If this lonerâs made it a point to not work with people, then why oh why did the honourable Madam General decide your ancient science and study complemented his shady skillset? And why oh why does he never refuse her request? (Youâve conveniently forgotten how you always fold when it comes to her.) Youâve always worked alone too, for as long as you can remember; decoding the ancient equations in ruins and solving their gimmicky puzzles using your boundless wits is a job for one.Â
As it stands, the people he investigates, the work he takes care of, sometimes intrudes into the realm of questionable rituals and summonings the Abominations and their ilk oft partake in. Thus do you find your career verging into some gruesome form of forensics as you stare down what would commonly be considered a murder scene: sigils and ancient alchemical algebra staring right back at you. He deals with the human aspect of intelligence: the psychology, the crime, the covert espionage. You deal with the technical fallout: the analysis of antique sciences is your specialty, after all. This has culminated in a begrudging partnership where both parties wish nothing more than to leave it.Â
A business relationship, of sorts, founded on the mutual dislike (a weak description) of each other.Â
âNo.â He doesnât budge from where he leans against the doorframe, but he does have the decency to swing the door closed behind him. Yet, itâs not out of any respect for the hallowed sanctity of your abode, but more because heâs sooo Mysterious and Aloof that none of your neighbours are allowed to view his visage.Â
âYou areââ a quick glance at your watch proves your point. For someone obsessed with keeping tidy, he sure does have messy time management. ââeighteen minutes too early.â
âAnd you still arenât ready,â he counters, pointedly eyeing the loose shirt and comfortable cotton trousers slung over your hips. You yawn, tired already from his yapping. Heâs been compared to a crow for as long as youâve been hereâand perhaps far longerâbut to you heâs always been more like a little dog. Yap. Yap. Yap.Â
This is precisely why I donât work with others, you can almost taste his wordsâhis thoughts.Â
âYou are currently the biggest hindrance to my getting ready,â you grimace. Casting a quick glance over his intricate garb, itâs no wonder he feels getting ready is such a lengthy endeavour: all straps and buckles and tough layers that makes him the walking fortress he is. âIâll be on time.â
He doesnât reply: laconic only when he acknowledges your point as unequivocally right, which is seldom.Â
âAre you going to keep staring?â you snap as you sling the worn shirt from your body. Beneath the soft clothes is muscle hard-won through your frequent collaborations with the Armed Archaeologists in the Guild: days filled with more sparring and their stupid callisthenics than actually finding ruins.Â
âDo you have to dress right here?â he counters, but itâs a futile argumentâthis apartment is barely big enough for you as it stands. Currently, heâs situated by the doorway, but youâre on the unseen boundaries of the living room and the tiny kitchen. Beyond is your bedroom and miniscule bathroom, of which neither have enough space to move comfortably to change. And you certainly arenât going to sacrifice your comfort to appease his poor eyes; heâs seen worse for sure. Though, you doubt heâs ever seen a naked body that wasnât in the context of assassination and the anatomy classes you know heâs meticulously attended for his shady work. Surreptitiously, you snicker at the thought: that there arenât any lovers lined up for this weirdo.Â
You toss the garment onto your couch, precisely because you know heâs grinding teeth over it; and thereâs that tell-tale click of molar against molar. You even whistle a bit as you untie the neat bow holding your trousers to your hips; the fabric pools on the floor, and you donât make any move to pick it up.Â
There it is. His glowerâred-hot and piercing through the flesh and sinew of your backâis heavy in this small space. What you donât see, however, is how his eyes flicker briefly across your body, down the firm step of your legs as you step out of the trousers. Out of context, watching muscle ripple and twist as you strip forces crimson to seep into his face. This is an implication heâs absolutely disgusted withâwith you.Â
âIf you have any more input as to what I do in my home, youâre welcome to pay my rent first,â you finally deign to reply, rummaging in the dresser in your hallwayâwhich he knows has never been neat with all the clothes spilling from the edges. His eye twitches.Â
âYouâre an incorrigible man,â he retorts, carmine flush now from irritation rather than anything else. Irritation from the beginning, because it was never anything else.Â
âWow,â you blink, weighing your options between shirt A and shirt B. The cherry-red with straps, or the Prussian blue with straps, you muse, holding the shirts against your beloved grey cargoes. âYou sound exactly like my professor. Same adjective and everything.â
When it comes to shameless people, there comes the very real risk of insults being nullified by the insulted through them simply agreeing.Â
âNo wonder the Guild kicked you out.â As youâre pulling the scarlet fabric over your head, you pauseâit seems heâs finally hit a nerve. Thereâs a rare smile toying with his lips at the victory: one he doesnât notice, but ghosts across his face nonetheless.
Now, there are many things you could reply to that with. Such as, did your parents give you a reason when they abandoned you? Nay, that is too low of a blow. No wonder you donât have any friends. But he probably grapples with that bitter reality each morning, gnashing his teeth and beating his chest.Â
âBold of you to speak of being unwanted,â you comment matter-of-factly. Both insults it is then, wrapped neatly into an ambiguous tale of these eight words. His smile fades.Â
With a slight gasp, you finally wrangle the tight material onâitâs armour, after all, a specific textile development by the Yaoqing for the protection of civilians and tourists alike, though you arenât considered a tourist by your special work-abacus-plaque. It fits snugly against you: straps for knives sit tight against your forearms, while the harness that provides extra support for your torso rests neatly beneath your chest. The garbâs almost like a compression shirt from your home planet, except the Yaoqing has far more violent uses for it.Â
âDidnât Guard ZhĂ reject you?â He bites out, and it takes a minute for you to realise heâs talking about ZhĂ Hua, the best friend youâd made on the flagshipâand your Shadow Guard drinking buddy.Â
âHuh?â Dumbfoundedly, you pause in doing the buckles on your trousers, losing far more time than youâd bargained for. âA-hua is my friend.â
The diminutive doesnât go unnoticed, which rankles him far more than falling prey to the rumour about you and his fellow Guard. No, both rankle himâlikely because hearing about a workplace romance about you just disgusts him in general.Â
âPfft,â you snort out, finally done with the laborious task of adjusting the materiel and various other gadgets attached to your body. âI have got to tell her about this. Who knew your ability to gather information would be stopped by a rumour?â
The tightness in his chest lessens somewhat.Â
âBesides, everyone already knows my heart belongs to the Madam General,â you sigh, clasping your hands to your chest in a dreamy gesture. Itâs an ongoing joke: you professing your deep adoration of Feixiao after she gives you a pay raise for putting up with the so-called âreticentâ Moze. âWoah, whatâs with the sour look?â
âGross,â he mutters.Â
As you step near the doorway to grab your boots, you lean into his space mockingly: and he recoils back in even more revulsion.Â
âOf course, you wouldnât know.â You pat his shoulder once, condescendingly, then promptly slip your heavy boots off the shelf. âSince thereâs no one who loves you.â
And his glare as you shuffle your shoes on is poignant.Â

Remy LeBeau (Gambit)/AFAB!Reader
DESCRIPTION: You find out about Bella Donna Boudreaux, and you are not happy about it.
CONTENT: Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Threats of Breakup, Mentions Remy's Past (*Using the Original X-Men Animation Series as Ref.)
A/N: This is not my favorite Remy work I've done, but I think it's still pretty good. This is pretty heavy hurt/comfort, and the ending is a little rushed. TBH I wanted to just write this and get it over with. WIPs can only have such a long shelf life! I may eventually update this later.
848 words | Safe!
"RemyâŠ" You walked cautiously into your and Remy's shared bedroom in his apartment near the school, anger bubbling inside you. In your hand, you held a letter from some woman named Bella Donna Boudreaux. The letter was old, at least five years old. You found it while cleaning out one of Remy's closets, finding it in a box on the top shelf when it came tumbling out of the closet. "What is this?"
Remy, who was reading, immediately shot up. His black and red eyes looked at you with so much shock. He looked like a man who got caught. âMa chĂ©rie,â he started.
"What is this, Remy?" you shot, effectively cutting him off. "Who the fuck is Bella Donna Boudreaux?"
"ChĂ©rie, it's not what you think." Remy stood up from the bed and began slowly approaching you.Â
You weren't stupid; you could read what the letter said, and that letter painted a rather different story than your current reality. "I think it's exactly what I think, Remy. What the hell does 'I'll forever be your wife' mean, then? Remy, we've been dating for three years, and this letter is five years old. Are you married?" you roared, your anger almost unmanageable.Â
Your mind was racing with every possible answer that Remy could've given you, and none of them were positive explanations. Your relationship with Remy was the best you ever had; he was kind, generous, and giving, and overall, he was a spectacular partner who always put your needs first. You loved Remy more than you could fathom; this letter was heartbreaking.
Before he could answer, you began to read some of the letter to him. "Remy, mon amour, I miss you every day. Every day you are gone is like a stab in the heart. I still remember the day I last saw you; you looked handsome as ever, mon cĆur." you stopped reading the letter and threw it on the bed. "What the fuck is this?"
"Darlin', that's all old history, Bella Donna isâŠ"
"Your wife, apparently, Remy." you began to tear up. Nothing shattered your heart like reading that letter did. You had read through the entire thing before you confronted your boyfriend, and you knew a love letter when you read one. You started shaking your head, putting your palm up to your forehead. "I can't fucking believe this."
Without even noticing, he got closer, Remy turned you around and gently pulled your hand from your head. His face portrayed an emotion of hurt. As much as you wanted to scream at him, tear him apart, something in you knew that he had some proper explaining to do. "Darlin', listen to me. Please."
You sighed roughly, continuing to shake your head. "Fine. You better have a great explanation for this, Remy. Or I'm done."
He sighs. Remy knew this day would come eventuallyâwhether it be when filing for marriage paperwork or when his past eventually bubbled up to the surface. If he was honest with himself, he completely forgot about that letter; it was shoved in that box with the rest of his past in the Thieves's Guild. Looking at you, his heart was breaking. The last thing he ever wanted to do was hurt you.Â
"Well, darlin', it starts back in New Orleans. The long and the short of it is that Bella Donna Boudreaux was a member of the Assassin's Guild, and I was a member of the Thieves's Guild. We were arranged to be married in an attempt to unite the guilds. Gambit didn't love her, so he walked away from the altar. Bella Donna wrote me that letter as a last-ditch effort to get me back. I don't know how she even found my address, but she sent it. I forgot that I even kept it. I promise I didn't marry her, mon amour. I don't love her. My heart does not belong to another; it only belongs to you." He held you steady in front of him, and he watched how the tears forming in your eyes began to roll down your cheeks.Â
Remy pulled you into a tight hug as you cried. "Shh, don't cry, chérie, Gambit's right here."
"Don't ever fucking scare me like that." you cried. Right now, you hated yourself. There was no way you could deny what you read, but you trusted your boyfriend with every word he said. Remy wasn't one to tell you a lie. Ever since you began dating, he has been nothing but honest and upfront with all that he said. "Mâsorry, Remy. I'm really sorry."
Gently letting go of you, Remy cupped your cheeks and placed a kiss on your forehead. "No reason to apologize, mon amour. You were scared, and that situation seemed nasty. I understand."
"I was just so worried that you were keeping something from me, especially something that would change our relationship."
"I know, chĂ©rie, I know." He cooed, pulling you back into the hug.Â
You sighed, letting the anxiety go. âPlease forgive me.â
He smiled. âGambit forgives yaâ, chĂ©rie. Of course I do.â

All descriptions taken from TvTropes.
Cantarella:
Cantarella is a fantasy manga about the youth of Cesare Borgia, warrior, politician, and second son of Pope Alexander VI. Only here, he's possessed by demons, with a Red Right Hand to prove it.
Death Note:
In the land of the dead, a bored Shinigami named Ryuk decides to create some entertainment for himself by dropping a Death Note into the human world.
Light Yagami, a brilliant-yet-disillusioned Japanese student, sees the notebook fall into his world and picks it up. On a whim, he tries out the instructions held within its pages, and discovers that he can kill whomever he wants, however he wants, by writing their name and (optionally) cause of death into the Death Note.
While initially horrified at his actions, Light rationalises that he can use the Death Note as a force for good by purging the rotten and corrupt elements of society, thus creating a world free of crime and violence. A cult following soon arises around the mysterious assassin killing off criminals across the country, christening him "Kira". Kira's actions soon attract the attention of the international police community, now with grave concerns about the vigilante killings, and the world's greatest detective, an enigma of a man known only as "L".
L becomes determined to solve the mystery of Kira and his impossible killing method, employing increasingly aggressive and risky strategies to get the information he wants. Meanwhile, Light spirals into madness as he becomes consumed by both his egomaniacal "Kira" persona and his desperate need to stay one step ahead of L's investigation. It's a cat-and-mouse game neither man can afford to lose â and both of them want to win at all costs.
Dungeon Meshi:
In a fantasy world of dungeon exploration, guilds go out on expeditions to raid dungeons, hoping to find the mysterious Golden Kingdom claimed to be the ultimate treasure of a particular island dungeon, said to be created by a Lunatic Magician after sinking the Kingdom below the ground. Human knight Laios Touden and his adventuring team are saved from a Total Party Kill by a fearsome beast, the Red Dragon, when his sister, Falin, sacrifices herself to teleport them all out of danger. Now she's in the dragon's belly, and it's only a matter of time before she's digested and it's too late to revive her. Laios and his friends must delve back into the depths to recover her remains â but there's not enough time or resources to buy enough rations for the trip. His solution: take advantage of the sprawling ecosystem of the dungeon itself by cooking the various monsters within into delicious, wholesome, dungeon-sourced meals.
Fruits Basket:
After the death of her mother, young Tohru Honda has been secretly living on her own in a tent. Her life changes forever when she stumbles upon the secret of the estate she is living on illegally: the land is owned by the Sohma family, who are afflicted by a Hereditary Curse that changes thirteen members of the family into animals of the Eastern Zodiac (plus the Cat, an animal who would have been part of the Zodiac but was left out) when they are hugged by someone of the opposite sex that is not also a Zodiac member. Oh, and the family is a hotbed of horribly abusive parents and children with enough emotional issues to make a shrink very wealthy.
Upon being discovered and taken in by the Sohmas, sweet-natured Tohru becomes embroiled in the dysfunctional family's various crises, bringing the outside world to the closed-off family while also having to confront some issues of her own.
Goodnight Punpun:
Goodnight Punpun (Oyasumi Punpun) is a supremely bizarre Seinen manga by Inio Asano about the title character, Punpun. Punpun is a young, innocent, and naive child, who, in some kind of strange stylistic choice, is depicted as a simplistic sketch of a bird despite everyone outside of his family looking like a normal human. He has no real dreams, his father is an abusive deadbeat (at least, he appears to be), and his mother is a drunk who regrets having him, but Punpun has one thing: a pretty girl named Aiko whom he fawns over. Well, her, and an afro-clad and slightly useless god he can summon by chanting 'Dear God, dear God, tinkle hoy!'
The story begins as a Slice of Life comedy, following Punpun through his childhood as he deals with his family life, his school life, his social life, and his budding romantic life. While noticeably dark, it also contains a hint of child-like innocence. However, as the series progresses, it develops into an extremely dark Coming of Age story, with all innocence being wiped away. While the humor remains, it takes a backseat to experiences of Punpun, his family, and his acquaintances as they deal with the hardships of adolescence, adulthood, and life in general. The story is split roughly into four arcs: Punpun's life in elementary school, middle school, high school, and as a young adult.
Running concurrently with Punpun's story is a very odd side plot about a cult-like movement trying to (apparently) save the world through "good vibrations", which some of Punpun's classmates end up involved in. It's possibly even more weird and unsettling than anything going on with Punpun, as it's never quite clear if it's real or the mad ramblings of its leader.
Haikyuu:
In junior high, ShĆyĆ Hinata gained a sudden interest in volleyball due to seeing a match on television, which featured a star player nicknamed "The Little Giant", and yearned to follow in his footsteps to become a volleyball ace despite his short stature. Hinata starts his own volleyball club, which no one joins, and practices rigorously by himself. Eventually he convinces enough people to make up a rag-tag team consisting of a couple of members who haven't even played volleyball before just so he could compete in a tournament. His team is quickly annihilated by Tobio Kageyama - "King of the Court" - and his champion team. After suffering a miserable defeat, Hinata vows to defeat Kageyama and surpass him as a volleyball player.
Upon entering Karasuno High School - the school "The Little Giant" attended - Hinata learns that he's now on the same team as Kageyama. The two must learn to work together so they can restore Karasuno to its former greatness.
Ouran High School Host Club
Welcome to Ouran Academy, a distinguished school that provides education to the children of the rich and powerful. Only the wealthiest families can afford to send their sons and daughters to the academy. Thankfully for those whose bank accounts aren't nearly as inflated, Ouran does offer a scholarship program to any hopefuls who wish to attend.
Enter Haruhi Fujioka, one such scholarship student who dreams about becoming a lawyer like her late mother. Unfortunately, her plans to study hard and keep to herself are destroyed when she happens upon the Host Club. This unusual high school club entertains female students through a combination of flirtatious banter and roleplaying, with each of its six members catering to different tastes in boys; there's Takashi "Mori" Morinozuka, the tall and stoic type; Mitsukuni "Honey" Haninozuka, the bubbly and sweet type; the Hitachiin twins, Hikaru and Kaoru, a pair of tricksters who pretend to be madly in love with each other; Kyoya Ohtori, the cool and aloof type; and Tamaki Suoh, the princely type and the Host Club's leader and founder.
Flustered by her discovery, Haruhi's attempt to leave Music Room 3 ends with her accidentally breaking an incredibly expensive vase. Mistaking her for a boy at first, Tamaki declares Haruhi their errand boy, only knocking "him" up to host status when he sees Haruhi's potential. It isn't until after he gives Haruhi a customer quota that Tamaki discovers she's actually a girl.
Before she knows it, Haruhi is swept up into the Host Club's eccentric world as well as the private realms of its individual members. As their school life unfolds, both Haruhi and the rest of the Host Club will affect each other's lives in ways none of them could have imagined.
Please Save My Earth
Alice is an Ordinary High-School Student and Friend to All Living Things. One day, as she's serving as the Badly Battered Babysitter to the neighbor's trip-and-a-half of a boy, she has a chance encounter with two guys from her school class, and in the course of the discussion, it comes out that they've all been having dreams about being alien scientists on the moon studying earth, all in precisely the same continuity.
Eventually, all seven of the scientists at the base are found to have been reincarnated as Japanese teenagers. Their base â and all its weapons â is still operational, and the seven of them must find a way to balance their obligations from past lives with their new lives on EarthâŠ
Tsukihime:
After being involved in a major accident, the young heir of an affluent family, named Shiki Tohno, awakens in a hospital to find parts of his memory are missing and he can see glowing, pulsing red lines covering everything in his sight, from inanimate objects such as his bed to the living doctors and nurses treating him. Furthermore, he discovers that by tracing something along these lines, whatever they're on will fall apart with frightening ease. Growing increasingly unstable staring at a world that could literally fall to pieces with a mere touch, Shiki attempts to escape the hospital, only to come face to face with a self-styled "Magician", who teaches Shiki about his condition, tries to instill in him the beauty and value of life, and as a parting gift gives him a special pair of glasses that hide the lines from what the Magician calls his "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception". Finally able to somewhat recover, Shiki is soon sent away to live with a branch family of the Tohnos, while his sister is made the new heir in his place.
Years later, Shiki is now a high-school student and living a normal life â that is, until he receives some devastating news: his father has died, and he must return to the main Tohno household at once. As Shiki settles into his new home and altered school life, and attempts to reconnect with his estranged family, he happens to cross paths with a strange blonde-haired girl with piercing red eyes on the street. Seized by an overwhelming, unknown desire, Shiki follows her into an alley, and by the time he has regained his senses finds he has cut her into 17 distinct pieces for no apparent reason before passing out in shock⊠only to then wake up in his bed at home. Was he dreaming? What force could possibly compel him to commit such a horrifying act? Is this somehow linked to his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, or his family's rumored occult past? And⊠hang on, did that red-eyed girl just show up again claiming he murdered her? Despite looking no worse for wear? And⊠does she have a crush on Shiki?!
Umineko no Naku Koro Ni:
Umineko: When They Cry is a kinetic sound novel by 07th Expansion that takes place primarily on October 4th and 5th, 1986, on the island of Rokkenjima. The rich Ushiromiya family is gathering in order to discuss what will happen to patriarch Kinzo's inheritance, since he has been ill in recent days. The protagonist, Battler, has returned to his family after 6 years of rebellion and is eager to reunite with his cousins.
While the arguments about the inheritance ensue, a typhoon traps all 18 people on the island. The family then finds a mysterious letter from a person claiming to be Kinzo's alchemy counselor, the Golden Witch, Beatrice. Beatrice claims that she has been summoned by Kinzo to claim the inheritance, as the family has been deemed unworthy of it. Unless someone solves the riddle of the epitaph on her portrait before 24:00 hours on October 5th and becomes the family successor, Beatrice will claim everything that the family owns, including the ten tons of gold that Kinzo claims will be given to the successor. This is only the beginning of the strange and shocking events that will occur on the island during these two days. Panic, reasoning, romance, heated confrontations and TONS of Mind Screw ensues.
Wolfs Rain:
The Earth sits on the edge of death; years of war between greedy Nobles have reduced the world to a handful of high-tech, Giger-esque cities amidst a barren wilderness. Only a single, small hope still remains: an old legend which says that in civilization's last days, wolves will follow the scent of lunar flowers to Paradise. It sounds promising, but no one has seen either a wolf or a lunar flower for centuries⊠or so they think.
The world's remaining wolves learned how to project illusions that make them look and sound human in order to protect themselves. Four such wolves â Kiba, Tsume, Hige, and Toboe â meet up in one of the decaying domed cities after noticing the scent of lunar flowers in the air. They soon discover the source of that scent: Cheza, a mysterious young girl genetically bred from a lunar flower by a group of Nobles who want to open a gateway to Paradise.
When a Noble by the name of Darcia kidnaps Cheza to use her healing powers to help his ill fianceé, both the wolves and the feuding Nobles behind Cheza's creation chase after him. An obsessive wolf hunter named Quent complicates the feud, as he knows exactly how wolves protect themselves and works tirelessly to kill them at all costs (with the help of his loyal dog, Blue).

Gambit- X-men 97's Romantic Hero
I love Gambit and after watching X-men 97 I'm sure that he's a lot of people's favorite right now. After watching and rewatching, season 1 I think that the writers have set him up as the Romantic Hero which is not just that he's a main part of a love triangle which he is but Romantic in the Byronic literary archetype way of "possessing the qualities of being larger than life, enjoying suffering, being isolated from society, being always haunted by an unseeingly unidentified sin and is known for being quite cynical" according to Brainly.com. Not to mention having a long suffering love interest!
He is not in the series for a lot of time, but his arc through episode 5 and the impact that he has throughout the whole show is monumental. He begins with a splash looking hot in his iconic pink crop top. I mean, there are very few people who would make this look good and he really does. He also comes off as way more interesting than Scott who bores me to tears. I sometimes skip Scott and Jean stuff to be quite honest and that comes from Remy being a good guy, but not boring. He has a sense of humor, a sense of adventure, and an all around down to earth personality. He is a strong fighter and loyal X-men, but even from the beginning he is seen as charming, funny and right. There is less of a threat after Xavier's death and Scott, Bishop and Ororo did have it handled.
Then we get to the club and Gambit is the ultimate lover in that he pairs up with Rogue and then proceeds to look at her lovingly whilst telling her what any worthwhile man would do to be with her. Swoon.
Then we have episode 2 where Rogue and Magneto reestablish their connection. We may cheer Rogue for being able to touch someone, but look at Gambit's hurt and sad eyes. Long suffering relationship indeed. Romantic heroes seem to love suffering and what is more painful and self inflicted than falling in love with someone who can't touch, but also is full of insecurities about love and commitment. I love Rogue, but she's afraid of love and terrified of hurting someone else which shows in how she handles relationships.
Mon dieu, it's freaky Rogueneto telling him what he tells himself, his deepest fears. A good Romantic hero always has demons and haunted by past sins and who is more haunted by his past than Gambit. I have to say here that some people might be thinking who is more tortured than Magneto, but I disagree. Magneto has a dark past, but he thinks he's right. Whereas Gambit is wracked with guilt and feelings of not being worthy of being called a X-man and being Rogue's man. He grew up a Cajun swamp rat from a Thieves guild raised by thieves, assassins and other nefarious people and lived most of his life as a thief. What makes him interesting is the tortured guilt and modesty that Gambit has.
He goes to Genosha because he's jealous and wants to make sure that there is nothing going on between Rogue and Magneto. Magneto even says as much. He wasn't even meant to be there and might have been safe on Earth, but we know what happened to him tragically. Plus we see how he is not cowed by Magneto and willing to ask questions no one else is willing to ask. Another reason why Magneto is not the Romantic hero, is that he is mutant MVP in this show, the heir to the X-mansion and the X-men, asked to be king of Genosha, and etc. where Romantic heroes are on the fringes of society like Gambit, who is a hero as a X-man but not wanting fame, glory, or power like Magneto.
Kurt is so observant and sees instantly the connection the two have and calls Gambit out on being theatrical. Gambit calls himself a scoundrel and yet again dismisses the possibility of a happy ending for himself. Then we get that iconic line of "There is no love without sin. Love is best measured in what we forgive." Gambit again falls into the Romantic hero trope of thinking he is too low for love, but isn't going to necessarily change his ways, just accepts that he is on the fringes of society and all that entails. One of the things I love about Romy is their understanding about one another. They both have murky pasts and are filled with self loathing and self doubt. They are strong attractive X-men but they are best friends because they GET each other.
Oof, the breakup scene. How more Romantic and tortured was this? He showed how amazing a man he was by patiently listening to her tell her story and then at the end not blowing up at her or making her feel like shit, but just wanting the truth from her and showing how much it hurt him. He played the Swamp Rat, because a lot of that was a game, a way for her to feel OK with keeping him at arm's length, dangling on a string, never fully letting him in because intimacy was too scary.
It's scenes like this that make me wonder if they have touched before even accidentally because Gambit as a character is so self loathing that if she touched him even by accident, she is holding so much of that loathing in her which may be something contributing to her doubts. A part of comic!Rogue leaving Gambit in Antarctica was because she absorbed him and was filled with self loathing.
He is such a gentleman that he even kisses her hand and agrees to be friends. And granted that the Magneto and Rogue dance was hot, but that must have been torture for Gambit. Then our Byronic hero becomes a man of action and hot damn we get James Bond level action and heroics. He shows his strength and does whatever is necessary to save his lady. Despite his differences with Magneto, he doesn't petulantly sulk but does what is required of him because he is a hero at the end of the day. He is brave and selfless and chivalrous. He is giving old school knight chivalry here and I'm here for it.
Then my heart breaks as does every other viewer at the death scene and the "can't feel you" line. It's very soap opera-y and dramatic to kill him after breaking his heart, but here we are. Rogue is the long suffering love interest and most Romantic stories don't necessarily have a happy ending. He wasn't even meant to be in Genosha and because of love and circumstance ended up dying tragically as the ultimate hero. He died a hero's death dying to save thousands, but more importantly to save the love of his life.
In later episodes, his death is a catalyst for Rogue taking action and even turning darker. Her love for Gambit shows more when he is gone and is going to be a fundamental chapter in her life. One that might make her think twice about being commitment phobic and using her abilities as an excuse not to feel intimacy and how wrong she got it with Gambit. It was love, true love and she didn't see it until she was too late.
This may just be a chapter in their story and we may have more drama and angst with Deathbit in Season 2, but even dead Gambit was the troubled Romantic lead that made X-men 97 work and be so interesting. Episode 5 was my favorite and probably the best episode next to the finale and that's due to Gambit. We relate to him and feel deeply in his pain, self loathing, jealousy, and love of Rogue. I find Magneto interesting and Rogueneto is fun to read and write about, but Romy is the OTP and Gambit is Lancelot.

The Protector & the Prince (Aedion Ashryver x Reader)
a/n: this character and plotline has been in my head ever since i read throne of glass, so i'm lowkey thinking of making this a series? to explore the character and also her relationship with aedion? because there is a criminally low amount of aedion love out here (i'm happy to provide). lmk your thoughts in the comments!
content: aedion x fem!reader, aelin x reader platonic, rowan whitethorn ofc, spoilers for empire of storms & kingdom of ash, slight au where reader is taken by maeve instead of aelin
requested by anon
The Protector & the Prince
The dawn was chill and damp against your cheeks. Dew rose from the meadow below, kissing your hair and skin. Welcoming you home.
In the rocky hollow behind you, the Bane packed up camp. They were battle-weary, exhausted to the bone after years of fighting in the mountains. Last night at dusk, when the company had stopped, you had just been able to make out the spires of Orynth across the next hill. It had been a trial in will to halt, to take stock, to rest before making the final push across the Staghorns.
Today, you would return to the home you had been forced to abandon, to the people you called your own. To your queen. To your friends. The war had been won, they said. Word had come over the mountains in the form of a white-tailed hawk; the king himself had come to find you and call you home. He had said his queen commanded it.
Against your will and better judgement, the memories of the past decade flowed freely as you and your company hiked down into the vale, then up the other side, crossing the last line of mountains. The loss of Aelin, the fall of Orynth, the Assassin's Guild, the land of Erilea, the return of magic, and the nightmares of war. Yet by midday, Terrasen unfolded before you, green and golden as ever. Your heart strained against its cage, and the Bane's pace hastened to the city's gates.
When you had last seen this city, it had been white and glistening, a kingdom in its prime. You were but nine years old, a nameless child with no family, no wealth, who had been taken in by King Orlon, of all people, to guard his young niece and heir, Aelin Galathynius. Since, your fae lineage had been revealed, and his choice in you had become clearer; only you could have followed Aelin to the ends of the earth as you did. Only you could have kept her safe.
Now, Orynth was rebuilding. The people had begun to return, but their wariness was palpable as they turned from their work to observe the Bane walking down the main thoroughfare. Some bowed, but there was no fanfare. There was little room for celebration as the dust of war settled, and the work began.
Your mind was a muted whirlwind of thoughts. You had little idea what to expect upon seeing Aelin. You hadn't seen her since the day on the beach, when you had been taken by Maeve in her place. The war done, you no longer knew your place.
Besides all this, your heart pounded for entirely different, unwelcome reasons.
Aedion would be here.
Aedion, Aelin's cousin, the Wolf of the North, fearsome general and protector of a fallen kingdom, had always been your best friend. Your first friend in Orynth, the lifeline you held onto while training with Arobynn. Your closest confidant. The only person you needed. And gods, did you need him now, with the uncertainties rising and the past creeping in... As you approached the towering doors to the castle, you actually considered whether you could do this.
The walk up the sweeping marble steps took a millennium. Untouched, no one had been able to steal their grandeur, though the great doors were still missing. One step over the mighty threshold, two steps, and you had yet to collapse. Three steps, and you were blindsided, barreled into with such force you stumbled.
"Y/N," came Aelin's shaky breath in your ear. She clutched you close, her fingers digging into your leathers. You clung to her in turn, holding her as tightly as you could, breathing in the smell of her, free of blood and iron. "You made it."
"Hi," you laughed breathlessly. "Gods, Aelin. Hi."
And suddenly, everything was entirely right in the world. You were home. You were with your best friend. You had made it.
Reluctantly, Aelin let you go and addressed your company. The Bane, ever having been Aedion's to command, had been given to you in the wake of your return to the continent. You had earned their respect, earned your place as their general. But they were, of course, Aelin's to command. Her arm still around you, she thanked them and dismissed them.
Before you knew it, you'd been swept up to a grand chamber, Aelin with you, to wash and eat. Your head swirled with the welcome, with the shock of being back in this place you'd once called home. She spoke softly, bringing news of Rowan, Chaol, Dorian, Elide, and Manon. She skirted talk of fighting, of that day on the beach, and for that, you were grateful.
"How is Lysandra?" You asked, pulling a comb through your wet hair. The sun was setting, but you would luxuriate in this time with Aelin for as long as she'd allow. "I heard she became a sea dragon."
"She did. That, and more." Aelin laid out a tunic on the bed for you, and it all felt too much like evenings at the Guild, preparing for grand soirées (and murders). "Her and Aedion have finally made up. Thank the gods for that - the tension was borderline unbearable."
Your eyes flicked to hers in the mirror, but only just. You blamed the exhaustion for the way your heart stuttered. "I'm glad to hear it. One big happy family, right?"
She snorted. "Yeah, a right happy home we've got."
A knock came on the door, and a servant entered, summoning Aelin to her council chamber. The young queen groaned, but you saw how she straightened - how the mantle settled on her shoulders in a way that no longer looked entirely unbearable. She turned to you, saying, "You should rest, Y/N. Eat up here, and we'll talk more tomorrow."
You turned to look at her in full, smiling faintly, strained. "Tomorrow."
Your queen disappeared. In the sudden dimness of twilight, you were alone.
But, you supposed, there was a tomorrow. That alone was enough to help you breathe.
~~~
Dawn came too early. Despite your fatigue, you'd hardly slept. First, it was the dreams. Then, it was the contemplation. Would Aelin send you away? What would she have you do in service of her court? Would you even have a place? As a demi-fae of no noble birth and little standing, all you had was your training. Your violence.
You supposed that was worth something.
It was what drove you down to the training yard in the gray light before the sun, moving through the familiar dance of swordwork. Before long, sweat poured down your spine. As the sun rose over the yard, more soldiers came to train, though they hardly had a swordmaster to tutor them. Quietly, you placed your weapons back on the racks and slipped away, unnoticed.
It was down the second stone corridor you turned, then, that you first heard the soft laughter, the hushed tones.
"Isn't it too early for this?" A gasp, a giggle. "Surely there's a better place."
"No one will come down here. Besides, it's never too early for this."
You stopped dead. You knew that voice. You'd know that voice anywhere. You'd heard it in your dreams. You'd followed it in your darkest moments, guiding you home.
You turned on your heel and stalked in the opposite direction, chest aching, as the sounds of Aedion and Lysandra's tryst faded behind you.
~~~
Aelin had called a meeting for midmorning, and you were notified last moment. You were still straightening your fancy new attire - silver, threaded with dark vines - as you entered the privy chamber. It was nearly exactly as you remembered. Eerily exact, as it was. You kept thinking you'd see King Orlon leap out from behind the curtains to say it had all been a cruel jest.
Luckily, you'd had plenty of time to right yourself, as Aedion was embarrassingly late. Though you knew the likely reason why, you kept your mouth firmly shut, instead braiding your hair and reporting to Rowan Whitethorn on the state of the Bane. When that was through, and only then, did the doors open once more, and Prince Aedion swept in, not a hair out of place.
"Forgive the delay, Aelin," he said softly when his cousin gave him an arch look. "There were... urgent matters to attend to in the yard."
Rowan grunted, "Those soldiers need a proper swordmaster."
"Which is why we're all here," Aelin said, as if it were obvious. She was clearly bored with the court business, but she looked between you and Aedion as though she were expecting something... more. After an awfully long pause, she continued. "Now that we're all together again, I figured some rearranging of duties is in order. Aedion, the Bane are yours, should you want them. And Y/N, my Queensguard is yours."
Aedion looked satisfied, but you were rooted to the spot with shock. "Aelin, your Queensguard? Why not have Chaol do it, or something?"
"Because Chaol has his own wife, child, and parcel to handle."
"You're more capable," Rowan chimed. "Wouldn't have anyone else protecting my wife."
"I'd also like you to be my envoy to Rifthold, for the time being." You actually had to take a seat. The closest one was a large armchair adjacent to Orlon's massive, ancient desk. "You know the city - and the affairs of Adarlan - better than any of us. And Dorian asked for you. You're a far better diplomat than I ever was."
"You were simply never a diplomat," Aedion said flatly, but his attention was fixed on you. Had been since he entered the room.
"Thanks, I know." Aelin flipped her hair over her shoulder, perching on the edge of her uncle's desk. "Much more of a decisive type, don't you think? Anyways, Y/N, would you accept both positions?"
You truly had to think a moment. You were reeling, your breath coming shortly. You had feared that Aelin wouldn't have work for you, and now, you were to captain her Queensguard and act as envoy to Adarlan? The responsibility almost seemed too much to take on.
Without thought, you glanced over to Aedion, who was still watching you. You caught his scent as you did so, and the desire to launch yourself into his arms after so long apart, after such hardship, after thinking you'd both die, took your breath away. But he was steady as he watched you, and as he nodded once.
You returned it. Rose, squared your shoulders, and bowed to your queen. "I'd be honored to accept both charges."
Aelin and Rowan shared a glance this time, before Aelin said, "Don't answer right now, Y/N, but there was something else I wanted to ask." You quirked a brow. "If you'd join me, I'd have you as one of my bloodsworn. You've followed me through everything, given up everything for me, and there is no one I can count more loyal than you. I would have you by my side, in all things."
The blood drained from your head, but you felt uncommonly steady. You couldn't give her an answer, but you could reassure her that you weren't going anywhere.
You stepped forward and wrapped your arms around her, and she returned the embrace fiercely, burying her face in your shoulder. "My path has always been beside yours. Past and future. Not going anywhere."
Aelin lifted her head, eyes teary and brilliant. "Never again."
Flashes of the smell of iron, the taste of iron, the smothering of iron. Of a cell, of shattered realities, of a white wolf. They haunted your sleeping and waking moments. Had consumed you for so long.
The meeting was, for all intents and purposes, over. After parting, you gave barely a fleeting glance at Aedion, unable to deal with that emotional disaster at present, and strode from the room, already calling for all soldiers to report immediately to the yard.
You had work to do.
~~~
A month had passed, and your life was consumed with dust, sweat, the grunting of fighters, and the clash of steel on steel. You had selected a Queensguard from the soldiers who'd been in the city, but training them was something else entirely. They'd all seen combat in the war, of course, but that didn't mean they even knew how to swing a sword without tearing a muscle. It had been nigh on ten years since Orynth had had an organized militia of any kind. You were starting from scratch.
The men and women you'd selected were, of course, learning quickly. You wouldn't have chosen them if you didn't think them trainable. But they were reaching a plateau, and their progress was slowing. You were spending long hours training under the blistering sun, and even longer hours planning rotations and the coverage of major events in the castle. Aelin needed two guards with her at all times, and given the state of the Queensguard at present, you hardly trusted any of the new additions to protect her without you present.
Aelin's queendom was in its infancy, making it particularly fragile. Anyone could come for her - or the king - in an effort to change the political balance. It was something you couldn't chance, even if both king and queen could protect themselves admirably on their own.
All that being said, it was well into the evening, and you couldn't recall the last time you'd slept more than three hours. Or eaten a meal, actually. You sat back and threw down your quill, rubbing at your eyes. They'd grown weak and scratchy as you wrote by candlelight. The moon hardly helped, casting a silvery glow across the floor of your chambers.
A knock came at the door, and you didn't bother to sit up before calling, "Come!"
"Prince Aedion, Commander Y/L/N," the servant said. A second later, Aedion stepped in, shutting the door behind him in the servant's face.
You were still, watching him from under your brows as he approached your desk.
He stopped before you. "You look like hell."
"Thanks."
"That's a compliment."
"An absolute charmer, you are."
"I only mean to say you've been working hard. Aelin appreciates it."
"I know she does."
He suddenly looked like he was at a loss for words, something he hadn't been around you for... ever.
"Have you slept?" He finally managed.
"Do I look like it?" You gestured to your desk. "Lots to do. And I'm due in Rifthold next week."
"Are you going to take the blood oath?"
You sighed. "Don't you have something more useful to do than interrogate me?"
"I don't, actually," he snapped back, anger sparking. "Nothing more important than making sure you're alright."
"Funny, I thought you had a kingdom to defend. My mistake."
"The Bane are getting well-deserved rest. And thank to you, they're in top shape." He crossed his arms. "You led them well."
"I'd assume you'd know that, considering it was you who wanted me to lead them."
"Only because you needed something to do that would keep you safe."
Silence swallowed you whole as you stared at him. Fury turned your chest cold, your fingers numb. "Keep me safe?"
"You had no business being near the final battle for Terrasen," he snapped back. "Considering what you went through at Maeve's hands, you couldn't have been ready."
"So you sent me to babysit your troops?" You hissed, rising to your feet abruptly. "Are you serious, Aedion?"
Aedion sighed, exasperated. He held out placating hands. "This is going all wrong, Y/N. I'm not trying to upset you. I'm trying to make sure you're okay."
"What, because I was tortured? I can assure you, I'm a big girl. I can handle a few nightmares."
"Because I can hardly believe that you've healed," he nearly shouted. You leaned back. He said, quieter, "Because I know you haven't. You're throwing yourself into work to distract yourself. But it won't work forever."
He couldn't know just how right he was. It hurt, like a raw blister, the way he saw right through you. The way you wished you could bare your soul to him, let him comfort you, let him take care of you. You'd never had that, but you'd only ever wanted it from him. Your jaw was tight with hurt, and with fury.
"I gave you command of the Bane because I needed someone I could trust in the Staghorns. No one else could have earned their respect as you did." Aedion's gaze softened. "And selfishly, I wanted to keep you safe."
"I can take care of myself," you said, rather childishly.
"I know that."
"I don't need you to look after me. Not when you have other people to worry about."
The last had slipped out, unbidden, and you immediately cursed yourself for even saying it. Straight away, Aedion knew. His eyes sharpened, and you were glad to have the desk between you as his eyebrows rose.
"Lysandra," he said simply.
You stared back at him. "It's only natural."
"What? That I... frolicked with her, or that you're jealous of it?"
You scoffed. "'Frolicked?'" Seriously, Aedion? Are we twelve again?"
"We may as well be, for how well I feel I know you right now."
"You've known how I've felt about you for ages, Aedion. I know you have. You're blind, but you're not that stupid."
"Well thank you for that," he said, anger entirely abated. The snark of his remark missed its target. "Honestly, I only knew because Aelin told me."
"She told you back in Rifthold. I know. Before Arobynn was dead. Before I was free of him. Right in the midst of a shadow war." You gave a one-shouldered shrug. "But you always knew me best, Aedion. You had to have known before. But whether you did simply doesn't matter."
"How could it not?"
You straightened under his piercing stare, under the question in his eyes. "Because I have a job to do, and so do you. Aelin will always come before me, and I would never let anything, even you, come before her."
Aedion's mouth curved into a sad smile. "I know that."
Put off by the starkness of his honesty, you added, "And to be clear, I wouldn't be jealous of Lysandra. Her and I have been through enough. She's beautiful, and more than that, she's good. You deserve her."
"Lysandra has gone to Wendlyn."
"What?"
"We... I thought we'd gotten over the deception leading up to you being taken by Maeve, but we hadn't. She requested to leave, and Aelin gave her a job across the sea."
You were dumbfounded. So much so that you had to sit down. Lysandra, Aelin, and yourself had been the only ones to know of your plan to glamour yourself before arriving on the beach that day to greet Maeve's forces. As demi-fae, you had few powers, but one of the strongest was casting glamours. It was part of why you'd been so successful as an assassin at the Guild. Glamoured as Aelin, you'd been the one to be taken that day to Doranelle.
Anything for Aelin. Anything. Always.
Your voice shook as you said, "I will not be your second choice, Aedion."
"I'm not asking you to be," he murmured. "I'm asking you if you're alright."
Nearly. You nearly bent and broke, straight into him. Your mouth wobbled, but you managed to stand straight as you whispered, "I don't know who I am, now the bloodshed has stopped." When he said nothing, you drew a deep breath and continued. "Which means I'll keep fighting until I can sleep through the night."
"That's not how this works," he said evenly, and finally, he reached out, stopping himself just as his fingers grazed your sleeve. "You don't get to do this on your own, Y/N. We've always done this together - let me help you."
"You couldn't understand, Aedion."
And it was true. The things you'd gone through at Maeve's hands, at Arobynn's before her, no one could understand, least of all this prince. But as he touched you, for the first time in years, you felt your will against him falter.
You could have him, you thought. He's right there.
"Let me try," he breathed. His gold-rimmed eyes were desperate, soulful. Full of something you'd hardly dared admit to seeing before. Before Lysandra, when it was just you and him against the world. Desire. Admiration. Love? "Let me take care of you, Y/N. You've spent your whole life caring for us. Let me shoulder the burden, just for a little while."
The space stretched between you and Aedion, infinite. A breath. There was the truth, you realized. And you whispered:
"I'm scared, Aedion."
"I know, sweetheart."
He sensed it before it happened, and was around the desk in an instant, even as you fell back into your chair. Your breath came shortly, your chest crushed beneath the iron vice of memory. You'd failed to realize what it was to be rid of the constant routine of fight or flight, and now, that freedom came crashing down upon you as a wave, crushing your breath into teary gasps of air. Into sobs.
But Aedion was there, perched next to you, drawing you as close to him as he could. He pressed his mouth to your hair, your temple, your cheek, murmuring that he had you. That he was sorry. That Lysandra was only ever a distraction. That he'd loved you since you were children. That he had you. That he wouldn't let you go.
That you were safe now.
When the sobs subsided, you managed to lift your head, to look up at him through bloodshot eyes. He gazed on you fondly, his own eyes limned in silver. His hand smoothed over your hair, a gentle caress.
"You are the strongest female I have ever known," he murmured. "You may feel lost now, but we'll take this on together. Alright?"
"You have some explaining to do," you replied with half-hearted severity. "Frolicking with Lysandra isn't entirely forgiven, I'll have you know."
"Figured it wouldn't be."
"But... Together?"
"As it's always been, Y/N." He leaned in, pressing his forehead to yours. "I swear."
"I'll hold you to it."
"Wouldn't expect anything less from my most fearless warrior."
You smiled, and leaned up just enough to take him by surprise, kissing him softly. With the tenderness of ten years of longing, of ten years of sacrifice and love.
He tasted of beginnings.
Ease of Use:Â â
â
â
ââ
His dukes define dandyism. Laid-back and dignified vampire. A gentlemanly descendent of vampiric lineage, who enjoys genuine combat and haiku as hobbies. He abides by his own code of âdandyismâ and can take nearly anything in stride. When it comes to battle, however, he wields overwhelming strength in great contrast to his calm demeanor. Due to his lifespan as a vampire, all events in human society feel trivial to him. Thatâs only one facet of him, however, as he finds humans and their turbulent emotions in response to such affairs both enviable and endearing. He founded the Assassinâs Guild, only to retire after meeting his immortal wife, Sharon. Currently, he enjoys an untroubled life in retirement with Sharon, occasionally venturing out for some people watching.
New Battle Stage: âAmber Fest with Kind Neighborsâ
The additional battle stage âAmber Fest with Kind Neighborsâ is a town set in the Season Pass 1 additional content âAnother Story.â A festival is being held to celebrate the auroraâs blessings, and special illuminations are on display to give thanks to the gear who saved the town from crisis.
Also related to my last post
IMO comparing Morrowind's faction questlines to Oblivion's and Skyrim's really shows how much the potential for actual roleplaying in later games in the series is squandered and held back because they're too afraid to have conflict between the joinable factions (because doing so might make it hard or even impossible for the player to become the head of every faction which is their right as Tamriel's Most Specialest Boy)
Like... Of course, in Morrowind some factions are mutually exclusive with each other (You can only join one of the three joinable Great Houses), but beyond that there are some factions that technically aren't mutually exclusive but Don't Like Each Other Much and joining both doesn't make it easy for you as a player.
Like. The game doesn't stop you from joining the Thieves Guild and the Fighter Guild at the same time, but both factions do butt heads at several points (because the Fighters Guild is allied with the Camonna Tong, which is the local crime syndicate which isn't exactly thrilled about having competition from the Thieves Guild) and if you want to remain in both some quests require pretty substantial workarounds (and some quests will require to be outright ignored) because... Well that's what happens when you're two-timing for two factions that are at each other's throats.
Similarly, the game doesn't stop you from joining the Mages Guild and House Telvanni at the same time, but there IS a late quest in the Mages Guild that straight up requires you to assassinate every House Telvanni councilor.
Like idk. This is something I've repeated several times but... i love an RPG where you can do ANYTHING but you can't do EVERYTHING.
