The title refers to a Moroccan dance form. Artcurial holds two sales each year in Morocco of Orientalist and Saharan-African art. I tend to show estimates and results in the currency of the host country. Using a website such as xe.com/currencyconverter/ will give you a quick comparison. In this instance, 1000 Moroccan Dirham is roughly 90 Euros.

EP of the Day: Guedra Guedra كدرة كدرة “Son of Sun” EP (On The Corner Records)

There’s no stopping On The Corner Records, not yet anyway. May 1st sees the debut release by new signing, Guedra Guedra كدرة كدرة, with the hot-as-hell “Son of Sun” EP. The Moroccan producer throws in samples from home and abroad into the blender with juke, footwork and other low-end orientated sounds. Indigenous chanting, homemade flutes & synth arpeggios do battle over scattered snares and pulsing basslines. Our favourite track is the sensuous fast-slow half-stepping “Anlo Kinka”, but for now you can hear the pounding “Uggug” and “Juke Lockstep” over on Bandcamp. Next level artwork from Victoria Topping once, again.
