I like to think at first, the contract killer is really grumpy for the first half of the day with Cupid for, obvious reasons. but at the second half of the day, they start to grow really found of Cupid. And when the days over the grey mane member would tell Cupid that they can visit each other for free.

I think what it makes it even more funnier is the idea that Cupid somehow, did not hire just an, Omega of the Grey Mane Club, but rather an Alpha, meaning Cupid hired one of the most experienced members.

So imagine their confusion when this small plush dog is their client. They ask Cupid what their "target" is, however Cupid is completely obviously to the hitman jargon and tells them he just got them to spend time with him so he is their "target", that does not seem or sit right for the Alpha and they already got paid so they hang out with Cupid, even if they are not happy of the situation at first.

And so they do from the morning to the evening, I have thought about the idea, that Ian Snapshot got hired on the same day, to "take out" Cupid (which happened before the dog saved Ian) and so it is an exchange of blows between the Alpha and Ian with Cupid being oblivious to the situation.

(Imagine a scene where Cupid is doing something, and in the background you can see the Alpha fighting with Ian, throwing grenades at each other, hand to hand combat, at one time Ian using a rocket launcher etc. etc.)

However the Alpha is able to fend off Ian, without Cupid noticing the whole day, and in the time were Ian is not trying to cause trouble, they hang out with Cupid, and they indeed grow fond of Cupid and start to like him.

I like the idea of the Alpha hitman that they like his company, and wouldn't mind to see the dog again, but, from now on, for free.

What was it like for Shade and Ian having to kill someone for the first time?

But, tried,not to think too much about it, trying to see their target not as an person...but rather, an objective.

Ian put all the anger he had, for the destruction of his village and being incarcerated in forced labor camp for five years in his thoughts, and imagined that his target was responsible for all of it, it can be said without exaggerating that the person, who ended up being Ian's first kill, was, without any doubt death.

Shade meanwhile remembered everything she had learned as a member of the Grey Mane Club and made short work with their first kill, they either way never saw Shade coming, or had little time to react or plead for their life, when Shade ended it.

They felt numb, both, Ian and Shade thought it would be harder...but..after they did it for the first time...things went easier.

Does the Grey mane club have a base?

They indeed have, it's somewhere located in England, while I don't know exactly, I would estimate it's a bit outside of London, given that they are a, medium to large sized organization with lots of connections, so, it would make sense that they are near the capital city.

For the Grey Mane Club, and especially its leaders it is easy to lay low in the large city.

I can imagine that they also have some outposts in a few other countries, for example in the U.S, perhaps there even a few, which would explain how Shade was able to get to Cupid, rather quickly.

But the main base would still be near London.

Why did Shade joined the grey mane club?

Honestly in Shade's case I can imagine it was a "family tradition" at that, one or more children of the Merango family, joined, trained and worked under the Grey Mane Club.

For a long time she did not question it, even when she got injured during her...work, sometimes it being just a scratch and sometimes it being more serious.

She only started to wonder if that really was the right way, or the one she wanted to continue to go, when she met this little ray of sunshine called Cupid Hound.

A sweet thought I just had is 'Shade Marengo' and Cupid howling together.

Aww that does sound sweet indeed I think that is a nice idea.

Just thinking about Shade looking at the full moon, remembering how she and her colleagues of the Grey Mane Club used to howl at the moon together as a group.

But now, having "turned traitor" she is all alone.

That is, until Cupid appears, asking her if something is wrong and Shade telling him what she was thinking about.

"Well, we can do that if you want!"

And although Shade is at first surprised, she accepts Cupids offer.

Both would then start to howl while the full moon is shining, and Shade feeling less lonely.

I wonder if Cupid's grey mane friend could be one of those things that payoff later on. for example: Imagine if Sam and Cupid are surrounded by wrath soldiers. but then the contact killer comes in to save them.

That is of course a possibility, I really like to think that the Grey Mane member and Cupid remain friends, and I do wonder if perhaps Cupids, view on the world, makes the wolf reconsider their life choices.

I really like the idea that this, or perhaps something similar might happen one day, were Cupid and Sam are in danger and they are saved by the wolf.

An interesting scenario would be, that someone (maybe Carlos) hires the whole Grey Mane Club to eliminate Cupid, and Sam gets of course entangled in it (given that I imagine it would happen towards the end of Roadkillerz), and the Grey Mane member, who is friends with Cupid Hound has to decide what is more important, their loyalty to the Club, or their friendship with Cupid.

They would of course decide, that they value the friendship with Cupid more, helping him and Sam and fighting against their colleagues.

Who knows, maybe at the end, they get invited to join the Roadkillerz for saving Cupid's and Sam's lives.

Perhaps, I, am honestly not sure how frequently they would appear ^^,,, maybe they are more of a character that appear in one episode or something like that, but, who knows.

However, I am certain they would never forget Cupid's kindness, always remembering it.

I like to think at some point. The grey mane member repays Cupid by giving some of their bounty money to him. which is sweet, but also kinda morbid since y'know, money earned by killing someone.

I can imagine it happening in a scene of morbid humor, with the Grey Mane member wanting to repay Cupid, for the hospitality and friendliness the dog has shown to them.

All of the money bills are stained, also probably wet and dripping with blood, with the Alpha saying they just got "freshly paid".

If Cupid knows at this point, I think he would, a bit uncomfortably but still trying to be polite, decline the money.

If he does not, I like to think Cupid asking why the money smells funny and is covered in tomato sauce, but also declining the money, saying they are friends after all.

What is Blaise's opinion on the grey mane club?

Well given the fact that one of their members, nearly killed him, I think they fell at least a bit, uncomfortable around their presence.

Overall Blaise is not fond of contract killers (except Ian maybe because he was a former colleague and friend) because, a journalist encountering a hitman, is rarely good news.

Speaking of the grey mane club. Do they directly interact with other groups (like the rkz and the wrath) or do they keep their distance?

Although the Grey Mane Club, is known mostly for their contract killing jobs, they are basically...morally grey.

They basically do what they are being told, and what they get paid for, no more and no less.

While they don't interact with other groups by themselves, if said groups would hire them to do a job, any job they would do it.

For example if Commander Grizzly would hire a member of the Grey Mane Club to "exterminate" someone, they would do it.

Would Cupid Hound, for some reason rob his own piggy bank to hire a member of the Grey Mane Club to have a friend for a day because no one else has time...they also would do it...

Just two, theoretical examples that came into my mind.

you mention this before, but what exactly is "The Grey Mane Club"?

The Grey Mane Club is an exclusive organization of gentlefolk wolves contract killers, bounty hunters, bodyguards etc. , all members are dressed in grey suits and most of them speak with posh English accents. Said organization was founded in England but it is not exactly known when they were founded, they are traced back to the Victorian era but of course they could be older.

Although the hierarchy is not really well known or understood by those who research/investigate "The Grey Mane Club" (which is done on purpose so that the leaders are not discovered and eliminated) what is known is that there are three ranks.

Alpha, Beta and Omega, with Omega being the lowest ranking members, usually apprentices , Beta being in between and Alpha being the most experiences and skilled ones in the organization.

These people are thought and specialized to use all different kinds of weapons or gadgets to injure or kill their targets. From daggers, to rifles to specialized gadgets like guns that are disguised as pens or umbrellas whose tips are coated in deadly poison. They also use gadgets and tools to make quick escapes if they are discovered.

Blaise really was "lucky" that it was "only" an Omega who tried to kill them because the assassin wrongfully believed they were Sam, if it would have been an Beta or Alpha member of the Club, who knows how it would have ended for them.

How did Blaise know that someone was hunting Sam?

Blaise got earlier a call from an unknown/withheld phone number, with a voice that told them that if they value the life of their friend, they better act and think fast, because "being in the wrong clothes in the wrong time could lead to a permanent lasting consequence." and that's all the voice told Blaise before hanging up on them.

So Blaise Owens, tried to think quickly of what to do, and decided, based on what the "unknown voice" told them, to switch clothes with Sam on the pretense of the "Do and Dare" game.

Despite the voice trying to disguise himself very good, Blaise was very well aware that it was Ian Snapshot who informed them, who only did because he knows that Blaise values the generals life, and even if the hitman does not understand why, the least he could do is give Blaise a "head start".

Also Ian did it because a rival hitman failing in their assassination attempt means he might get more "customers". Ian was in the same establishment as the hitman who would stab Blaise later, who was bragging about his "mission", revealing some bits of information that Ian listened to by eavesdropping.

Blaise was lucky that the hitman, a member of the "Grey Mane Club" was only an apprentice (that was the best the Marauders could afford) or it might have looked, even worse for the old war journalist.
