It was never a common species, the blue-grey warbler that locals called the jack pine bird. A belated discovery among American birds, it was undescribed by science until the mid 19th century—and then, known only on the basis of a single specimen. The bird's wintering grounds in the Caribbean would eventually fulfill the demands of collectors and museums, but the intricacies of its lifecycle remained a mystery for decades, the first nest only found in 1903. As the already-rare bird became rarer, people could only guess at why. There were just so few birds to look for, their breeding habitat inscrutable amidst the dense, impassable woodland of their Midwestern home. The one clue was the most apparent thing about the bird: its affinity with the jack pine (Pinus banksiana).
Over time, more nests were found—not in the eponymous trees, as might be expected for a songbird, but on the ground at their feet. Data points converged, leading to the realization that not only did the bird nest almost exclusively in proximity to the scrubby pines, but only utilized trees that fell within a specific range: new growth, between five and fifteen feet tall, with branches that swept shelteringly close to the ground. Subsequently, it would be noticed that the greatest volume of specimen collection for the bird had corresponded with years in which historically significant wildfires had impacted the Midwest—fires that, for decades afterwards, had been staunchly suppressed. The pieces fell into place, like jack pine seeds, whose cones open only under the heat of a blaze.
With the bird's total population having dwindled to the low hundreds, a program of prescribed burns, clearcutting, and replanting was instituted, with many acres of land purchased and devoted to the preservation and maintenance of suitable breeding habitat. Concurrently, efforts were made to protect the vulnerable bird against brood parasitism by the brown-headed cowbird.
When the first federal list of protected species was put forward in 1966, the name of the small grey warbler was inscribed beside birds such as the Kauai ʻōʻō and the Dusky Seaside Sparrow.
The ʻōʻō, last of the genus Moho, would be removed from the list in 2023 due to extinction, after thirty-six years without a sighting.
The endling Dusky Seaside Sparrow, a male named Orange Band, would die of old age in captivity in 1987, with his species being delisted three years later.
in 2019, fifty-two years after the creation of the Endangered Species Protection Act, the name of Kirtland's warbler, too, was removed from the list: it had been determined that, with a population now numbering nearly 5000, the jack pine bird could be considered safely stable.
Conservationists continue to work to preserve the breeding habitat of Kirtland's Warbler in the midwestern US, as well as its winter roosts in the Bahamas and neighboring islands (though selective logging has replaced actual burning in recent years, due to the dangers posed by unpredictable fires). It's the kind of effort that it takes to undo the damage we've caused to the planet and its creatures—the kind of hope that we need, to not give up on them, or on ourselves.
-
The title of this piece is Prescribed Burn (Kirtland's Warbler). It is traditional gouache on 18x24" watercolor paper, and is part of my series Conservation Pieces, which focuses on efforts made to save critically endangered birds from extinction.

The old year is dead. Long live the new year. Tell us about some stuff you liked in 2024 (music, TV, movies, cool things you did, whatever!) and some stuff you're looking forward to in 2025
Happy new year! I continue to love yuri!! (and also... sonic the hedgehog... which has yuri in it now so really lucked out there)
2024 saw the end of one of my fav new(er) manga to come out recently, Monthly in the Garden with My Landlord! It really crept up on me for how much I've ended up liking it but dang, what a good ride! Sad to see it go but I'll defo keep up with the author's future works!
I've been doing a lot of catch up this year as there are plenty of longer running series' I just hadn't dug into, such as How Do We Relationship? Delicious in Dungeon and This Monster Wants to Eat Me.
Delicious in Dungeon is now so easily in my top 5 favorite manga of all time. Love the group dynamic, love the funniest morally grey elf Marcille Donato, love that its doesn't feel like it drags or goes too quick within its 14 volumes, just love it!! Also wild to see so much Farcille merch in the artist alley this year, it felt like every other table had something and I can't really think of another f/f pairing that's hit that level within the con circuit merch scene. It was a lovely to see!
On the more textual yuri side of thing: How Do We Relationship? Oh geez, of man, and what god damn read! It took me a few volumes to really get into it but the reveal that it's not “story about what happens after you start dating someone” but is actually “a story about what happens after you breakup with someone” is devastatingly good!
Rip to all the college yuri I'll read going forward because every one of them is going to be compared to HDWR, its set the new standard for me haha. It was so good I had to go and buy the whole thing in print as soon as I finished.
Speaking of which, this year I went back to buying manga in print and I'm really glad I committed to that! At first it was more a reaction to the waves of delisting we've seen but It was a lot of fun hunting down deals to populate the Yuri Tower. This corner of my room now legit makes me smile when I look at it, even if I'm going to have to work out how to fit more books on there soon.
(if you're a UK book/comic/manga buyer than I rec scifier.com and worldofbooks.com, they have good prices and if you google for discount codes you can always grab one that's at least 5-10% off)
On the video game side of things I played an old SNES RPG called Eternal Filiana and was sooo charmed by it. The game is based on a 80s light novel that is very much influenced by Lady Oscar's popularity at the time, having its own protag also be a blonde haired women who was raised as a man for plot reasons.
The part that was most interesting to me though was that the André to Filena's Oscar ended up being a woman she marries within the first 30 mins of the game. Filena and Lila can be a bit goofy in the games (b-b-but we're both women??) but they still have some legit sweet moments and having watched the OVA first, which is tries to take itself more seriously, I now have a real fondness for the pair. Here's to the first married yuri couple!
And finally... Sonic. It's been another good year for Sonic! The comics continue to be a fun read and I really liked Sonic X Shadow Generations despite being apathetic toward Shadow lol. He was good in it though and all his levels ripped! Great game! Third film also fun! Very excited by the characters who show up in the stinger :) I also got into making custom figure with my brother this year so that's been a fun hobby for us to do together.
and that's it!! I mean there were other things I played and read, places I went to but whatever!! the post is long enough!!
For 2025 I'm looking forward to the anime of This Monster Want To Eat Me and suuuuper looking forward to The Moon on a Rainy Night! I need them to break the yuri anime of curse of having trash budgets though..... we cannot have another Whisper Me a Love Song situation..... AND WE WONT!! IM MANIFESTING GOOD THINGS!!
#manga musing#hurray yuri!#hurray sonic!#(hurray yuri in sonic? I hope we also see tangle and whisper in more things!)

I've been struggling with my anxiety lately, what with it being an election year and fascism and *gestures vaguely at everything since 2016* (yes I am aware everyone is feeling this, please bear with me for a moment)
So between avoiding the news for days at a time, practicing meditation and frequently backsliding (read: breaking down while 4-7-8 breathing) in my efforts to Keep Calm an Carry On(tm), I've been looking for glimpses of hope for the future because frankly, it's not looking so good right now. But when I see something like this, when I see a small effort that has big implications, I feel a tiny spark. If people are still trying, then maybe there's something to it. If the Cherokee language survived a century of "assimilation" at the hands of the United States Gummint (derogatory) and continues to be spoken today, even if by only a few, then just maybe there's hope.
If people are still trying to rescue the white rhinoceros, if Grey Wolves are no longer listed as endangered, if Robbin's cinqefoil can be delisted, if Amazonian deforestation can be HALVED, if poverty can still shrink, if the studies are right and we hit peak oil THIS YEAR, then maybe I ought to pull my head out of my ass long enough to get out of bed and go about my day. My job, the thing I do to make my living (until my books take off, hopefully) is in an industry that saves lives, so perhaps getting just enough of my shit together to go do that is enough to make a difference. I hope it is.
Reblog this with something that gives you hope. However small the gesture, please share the stories that make you feel like there's a point to it all. Bad news spreads like wildfire, but wildfires can be put out and sometimes, there are flowers.
😭😭
#this fills my jeart with joy#hopecore#hopepunk#hope for the future#hope for humanity#hope for us#spread hope#happy posting#positivity#we have to show that progress is possible

Sec Alivia Regulación Para 12 Criptomonedas En Binance
Understanding SEC's New Regulations on Cryptocurrencies in Binance
The world of cryptocurrency has always been a wild ride, full of highs and lows. With the recent news about the U.S. SEC's decision to regulate twelve specific cryptocurrencies on Binance, it’s essential for both seasoned investors and newcomers to grasp what this means for them.
What's the Big Deal?
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken recognition of the rapid growth and popularity of cryptocurrencies. With that, they’ve set their eye on a dozen cryptocurrencies available for trading on Binance, a major cryptocurrency exchange. This decision is aimed at overseeing the market, protecting investors, and maintaining fair trading practices.
Impacted Cryptocurrencies
According to the announcement, here is a list of cryptocurrencies that are most affected:
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
Neo (NEO)
Cardano (ADA)
Tron (TRX)
Dash (DASH)
Monero (XMR)
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Litecoin (LTC)
Algorand (ALGO)
Stellar (XLM)
Quant (QNT)
VeChain (VET)
These coins have been noted for potential risks and regulatory issues, creating a stir among traders who either hold or are considering investing in them.
Why Regulation Matters
Regulation is a double-edged sword. On one side, it can enhance investor confidence by ensuring that trading platforms comply with certain rules. This can lead to more people entering the market, which could normalize cryptocurrency as a legitimate form of investment. On the other hand, stringent regulations may deter smaller investors who fear hefty compliance costs, or who find the landscape too complicated to navigate.
Binance's Position
Binance has long been in a grey area regarding compliance and regulations. The exchange has made efforts to adapt, such as enforcing KYC (Know Your Customer) policies and striving for greater transparency. The recent SEC regulations may enforce Binance to revise its offerings, potentially delisting certain cryptocurrencies or increasing its compliance investments.
How Should Investors React?
For investors, it’s vital to stay informed. Here are some steps you might consider:
Educate yourself about the specific cryptocurrencies you hold.
Monitor news regarding SEC regulations closely.
Consult with a financial advisor, particularly if you’re projected to invest in any of the affected cryptocurrencies.
Diversify your portfolio to mitigate potential risks.
In Conclusion
The SEC's regulation of these twelve cryptocurrencies marks a significant milestone in the world of digital assets. While change is daunting, understanding regulations and trends can empower investors to make informed decisions. Whether this leads to a more robust crypto market or creates further complications remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: the evolution of cryptocurrencies is ongoing.
Stay tuned to our blog for more insights into the ever-changing landscape of finance and investment technology!

Today I'm Gonna Play: Spec Ops - The Line
I'm not really one to play shooters but I've heard this game pop up with praise from time to time. Using a modern city like Dubai is an interesting setting for a video game. Unfortunately this game has been delisted from all digital storefronts, so I had to find another way to get it. Although I usually avoid spoilers in my posts, I may have to spoil a little for this one as it's hard to write about it otherwise.
TW: The game has a war setting and has heavy themes of PTSD, involving hallucinations. There are also depictions of massacres in the game using warfare weapons.
The last time I've played shooters was back when malls used to have console demos for kids to play. I got to try out a few games like Modern Warfare 1 or 2, and the original Dead Space. They were fun enough to pass time, but never got into this genre. I didn't find war settings to be appealing enough to play through.
This game seems to be a commentary towards those who do find war appealing and entertaining. You play as Captain Martin Walker, a member of the Delta Force squad who's been assigned to help evacuate residents of Dubai after it was hit by severe sandstorms, causing chaos in the city. Blindly speaking, this puts the player on a heroic quest to save people from trouble. As the protagonist and his two teammates march on, they start to notice that things are off. Soldiers are hostile, civilians too if they're not cowering in fear. And all of a sudden there's a mastermind talking behind speakers by using one of the radio towers, mocking the protagonist and his efforts to save the city.
Gameplay wise, I can't say much due to my lack of experience in shooters but this was fun in terms of regular shooting. The game also has a tactical feature where you can command your squad mates to throw frags or attack a particular enemy. I didn't use the latter much but the former was helpful at times. I didn't like the amount of enemies that would spawn in each area however, it felt like it took forever to clear them. But I assume this was done to pad the game, as the story itself is very short and can be completed in a single evening. One feature I liked in particular was that some of the choices you made impact the dialogue and the environment around you, often adding onto the guilt and trauma that the protagonist goes through in the situation.
An interesting aspect about this game is the art direction. Many shooters that I've seen from trailers or images tend to have very grey or muddied colours, whereas The Line chooses to be vibrant instead. Some areas looked quite beautiful despite the situation and that helped give the player a breather to just appreciate what's around.
The main bit of the story, which is about PTSD in war, was done very interestingly. The game makes use of subtle elements in the background or foreshadowing in dialogue which you won't notice the first time, but also makes use of more obvious references in bigger story beats. Showing the type of internal hell that the protagonist goes through due to his actions from hallucinating often made me stop and let it sink in, as I also often thought of real soldiers who would probably be going through this. One of the most interesting methods of narrative design I've seen to hammer this sentiment is by making use of loading screens and the main menu to show the deterioration and denial of the protagonist's actions and how it affects others.
Overall, this was an interesting game to go through that sheds the reality of war and how the common man can view it as entertainment when they don't participate, often glorifying certain aspects of it due to media. I'm not sure if i'll try any other shooters apart from this, but this was definitely worth a try.

William Mason: Investment Prospects in the Mining and Insurance Industries
ASX 200 Strong Reversal
The ASX 200 index showed signs of potential upside following a strong reversal on Thursday, despite closing down 0.3%, which was an improvement from an intraday low of -1.65%. This volatility indicates a gradual recovery in the market after significant declines. Meanwhile, William Mason noted several noteworthy developments in the market, including the business sale and delisting plans of 5G Networks, the intention of Andrew Forrest to join the board of Austal, and regulatory hurdles cleared for the acquisition of Bruce Mathieson on Star Sentinel by casino regulatory authorities.
Market Dynamics Analysis
The ASX 200 index demonstrated robust rebound momentum in the trading of Thursday. William Mason believes this market performance reflects the increasing confidence of investors in economic prospects following a brief market downturn. The recovery of the market is primarily influenced by several factors:
5G Networks Business Sale: 5G Networks has sold its core business to the Managing Director for $3.2 million and proposed a dividend distribution of 15 cents per share before delisting in 2025. William Mason views this move as a strategic adjustment amidst market conditions, and investors should monitor its future dividend distributions and delisting plans.
Andrew Forrest Joins Austal Board: Andrew Forrest seeks to join the board of Austal through his private investment company Tattarang, which holds 19.6% of the shares of the company. William Mason points out that this initiative could strengthen the board of Austal and enhance its corporate governance structure, making it a significant development for investors to watch.
De Grey Mining as Potential Acquisition Target: Sources indicate that De Grey Mining is a potential acquisition target, with Agnico Eagle gathering information. William Mason suggests that mining company acquisitions typically have a positive impact on stock prices, prompting investors to monitor developments closely.
Optimistic Outlook for the Australian Insurance Industry: The Australian insurance industry is poised to achieve upper-end guidance for 2024 fiscal year insurance profits and profit margins, with Gross Written Premium (GWP) growth in line with "low double digits." William Mason believes this demonstrates strong growth potential in the insurance sector, urging investors to focus on leading companies in the industry.
The Federal Treasurer Approves the Acquisition between ANZ and Suncorp Bank: The approval of the Federal Treasurer on the acquisition of ANZ on Suncorp Bank further drives consolidation in the banking sector. William Mason notes that this acquisition could expand market share and synergize business integration, urging investors to consider its long-term impact on the banking industry.
Stock and Sector Analysis
Strategic Adjustment by 5G Networks: the business sale and delisting plans of 5G Networks underscore its determination for strategic adjustment. Investors should monitor its future dividend distributions and market performance to assess its investment value. William Mason suggests that while dividend distribution may attract long-term investors, delisting plans may introduce uncertainties.
Board Dynamics at Austal: the addition of Andrew Forrest could enhance the governance and strategic decision-making capabilities of Austal. William Mason advises investors to track the future development strategies and business expansion plans of Austal to evaluate its long-term growth potential.
Mining Company Acquisition Opportunities: De Grey Mining, as a potential acquisition target, could trigger positive stock reactions. William Mason recommends investors to monitor mining company acquisition dynamics and market responses to seize potential investment opportunities.
Growth Prospects in the Insurance Industry: The robust growth of the Australian insurance industry underscores its long-term investment value. William Mason suggests that investors focus on leading companies in the insurance sector, evaluating their financial health and market prospects for stable investment returns.
Banking Sector Integration and Expansion: The approval of the Federal Treasurer on the acquisition of ANZ on Suncorp Bank is set to drive banking sector consolidation. William Mason highlights that investors should monitor market dynamics and integration effects in the banking sector to assess their impact on the industry and individual companies.
Through in-depth analysis of market dynamics and prudent evaluation using stock software, investors can identify suitable investment opportunities in a volatile market environment, enhancing investment returns. William Mason believes that with scientific investment strategies and timely market information, investors can achieve substantial returns in a complex market environment.

It’s so depressing! And the worst part is how people are so insistent on using these god-awful grey market streaming sites that are agonizingly slow and low quality and just as scummy as paid services since blast you with ads and malware and crypto miners when, with 10 minutes of reading easily accessible tutorials, they could learn how to download the files directly, in 4K quality, with zero ads or delisted items, on their own personal streaming server with professional apps (even on phones!) that can also add subtitles and includes show art, episode descriptions, and even theme songs, in roughly 30-60 seconds each! All it takes is a decent tutorial and not being afraid to do it yourself instead of googling around for a site, and once you learn how to do it you’re done; I’ve used the same methods and many of the same sites for over 20 years now!
Just use BitTorrent!
I cannot believe there's absolutely no way to watch free shows and movies anymore, there are too many paid streaming platforms and pirating websites have viruses and ads preventing you from watching it uninterrupted((.)) id rather follow the rules and purchase media moving forward because it is too inconvenient. Seriously, free and no ads or viruses with 1080p streaming is DEAD.
#I hope this doesn’t come across as condescending#I just hate it when people are totally complacent with such bad free streams when a safe and easy alternative fully predates those#it’s like that Simpsons scene of Marge doing police training and struggling to climb over a brick wall#and Wiggum says ‘women always have trouble with the wall… they never seem to find the door.’#and there’s a whole stream of other cadets slowly and calmly walking through a door on the ground level#I would rather people think I’m an asshole and have a significantly better experience with their media than to be silent#also for people looking for more tips: use a seedbox if you can spare a couple bucks!#they’re way faster and safer since they usually virus scan for you#and most of them will do literally all of the setup for you for <$10 per month#and they even save you by default from the worst thing that can happen if you’re caught torrenting: a stern letter from your ISP

Do you have any tips for building a mori wardrobe? Like basics and essential items. I'm just starting out and I feel like I am all over the place.
For starters, I’d say the most important aspect of building any wardrobe is to find three or four anchor items which you absolutely adore. These are versatile items that can be mixed with other items in your wardrobe to create various outfits. These should be fairly basic, though I personally prefer a little personality in my anchors to spice up some of the more boring items in my wardrobe. I’d recommend starting with a tiered skirt in a light color and a neutral-colored vest or cardigan as anchors for the Mori style.
I’d also recommend staying with three key colors at the start. This will make it easier to coordinate items until you’ve built a larger wardrobe. I personally try to stay away from pure white and recommend natural or unbleached cotton or linen as a good option for base layers. If you prefer the Dark Mori style, simply substitute blacks and dark greys for your base. Greens, browns, and greys are all fairly easy to coordinate as well and combine easily with either Light or Dark Mori.
I’ve included some pictures of various types of garments I consider essential to any Mori wardrobe:
1. Tiered Maxi Skirt: This is the base layer for many feminine coordinates
(https://www.lyst.com/clothing/free-people-tea-tiered-maxi-skirt/)(delisted skirt by free people - highly suggest sewing one instead or shopping thrift)
2. Accent Skirt: This can be worn over the tiered skirt or alone. These skirts usually have faux layering or lace accents.
3. Accent Vest: This is essential for livening up otherwise uninteresting tops. Coordinate with an accent skirt in a similar style for extra pizazz.
4. Knickers: These are usually a thin linen pant with large lace detailing at the bottom. These can be worn under a skirt or dress, or with a coordinated shirt as pants if they’re thick enough. I have a pair that I consider an anchor to my wardrobe.
5. Overalls: I understand these aren’t everyone’s speed, but I adore overalls. Opt for a loose fitting pair in cotton or linen for a Mori look.
6. Lace-edged tank top: The key with this garment is to find one that’s loose fitting and relatively long. I have one similar to this as an anchor.
7. Accent Dress: Admittedly, most of the accent dresses I like are produced by overseas brands and don’t come in my size, so I don’t have many, but I do find them to be fairly versatile as they can be combined with different base layers and outerwear. The closest analog I’ve found in the states is Altar’d State, but I recommend waiting for their semi-annual sales as they can be quite expensive.
8. Accessories!! This is my favorite part tbh. Whether you want to dress to a feminine or fantasy aesthetic, the accessories always make the outfit. Some essentials I recommend include:
a. Oxfords and a sturdy pair of boots (especially if you’re the traipse-through-the-woods kind of Mori)
(https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/371617406721758616/?lp=true)(found on pinterest, linked back to tumblr search that did not return the original image; these appear to be vintage minnetonkas or a similar brand)
b. Scarves and Gloves - these can either be heavy and warm for winter or light and airy for warmer months
(https://www.instagram.com/p/BddC2xPF7hz/)
c. Quirky socks, tights, and boot toppers - these add interest with pants or shorter skirts, and boot toppers add layering.
!!!! BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY !!!!
Have fun with it!
Mori is, to me, an artistic expression of yourself, and everyone’s individual style allows that to shine through. There’s not any one way to wear Mori Kei, and there certainly isn’t a “right” or “wrong” way to do so. Don’t be afraid of change, and don’t be too critical of yourself. The Mori community has been nothing but kind and supportive in my experience, and will offer advise or constructive criticism if you reach out to them.
I hope this helps!

Judge Restores Protections For Grey Wolves Across Much of US
— By Matthew Brown and John Flesher | Thursday February 10, 2022
BILLINGS, Montana (AP) — A judge restored federal protections for gray wolves across much of the U.S. on Thursday, after their removal in the waning days of the Trump administration exposed the predators to hunting that critics said would undermine their rebound from widespread extermination early last century.
U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White in Oakland, California, said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had failed to show wolf populations could be sustained in the Midwest and portions of the West without protection under the Endangered Species Act. The service also didn’t adequately consider threats to wolves outside those core areas, White said.
Wildlife advocates had sued the agency last year. The ruling does not directly impact wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming and portions of several adjacent states. Those animals remain under state jurisdiction after federal protections in that region were lifted by Congress last decade.
Attorneys for the Biden administration defended the Trump rule that removed protections, arguing wolves were resilient enough to bounce back even if their numbers dropped sharply due to intensive hunting.
At stake is the future of a species whose recovery from near-extinction has been heralded as a historic conservation success. That recovery has brought bitter blowback from hunters and farmers angered over wolf attacks on big game herds and livestock. They contend protections are no longer warranted.
Interior Department spokesperson Melissa Schwartz said the agency was reviewing Thursday’s decision and offered no further comment.
Wildlife advocacy groups said the judge’s order would most immediately put a stop to hunting in the Great Lakes region, where Wisconsin officials had come under criticism after a wolf hunt last year blew past the state’s quotas, killing 218 wolves in four days.
“Wolves in the Great Lakes region have a stay of execution,” said John Horning with the environmental group WildEarth Guardians.
Wolf attacks on livestock are uncommon but can cause significant economic damage to farmers when their cows or sheep are killed.
And wolves in some places have reduced the size of elk and deer herds, their natural prey. That has stirred anger among hunters who target the big game animals.
The American Farm Bureau Federation, National Rifle Association and other industry groups had urged the judge not to restore federal protection, keeping the wolves under the control of state officials who allow wolf hunting.
Zippy Duvall, president of the Farm Bureau, said he was “extremely disappointed” with the ruling and that it ignored wolves’ recovery beyond government population goals.
“It’s really frustrating and outrageous that some judge thousands of miles away is suddenly telling us that our own scientific management of the species can’t be trusted,” said Ed McBroom, a Republican state senator from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. “They’re simply forcing citizens to take matters into their own hands.”
None of the Great Lakes states with established wolf populations — Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin -- had scheduled additional wolf hunts prior to the judge’s ruling. All three were updating their wolf management programs and officials said that work would continue.
A state judge in Wisconsin in October had blocked a hunt two weeks before it was to begin, responding to a lawsuit that claimed it was illegally scheduled.
In Michigan, where the wolf population numbers about 700, Republican legislators introduced pro-hunting resolutions but no formal proposal was before the wildlife commission that sets hunting seasons.
Before hunting is considered, Michigan officials want their legal status more permanently settled “given the long history of legal challenges to delisting decisions and the resulting shifting status of wolves,” said Ed Golder with the state Department of Natural Resources.
The status of northern Rockies wolves was not challenged in the lawsuit decided Thursday. However, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in September began a separate review of whether protections should be restored for the region’s wolves, after Republican state lawmakers in Montana and Idaho passed laws last year intended to drive down wolf numbers by making it easier to kill them.
Under the loosened rules, hunters and trappers primarily in Montana have killed a record 23 wolves that wandered outside Yellowstone National Park this winter. That’s sparked public outrage due to the popularity of Yellowstone’s wolf packs among tourists who visit from around the world.
Following the killings, Interior Sec. Deb Haaland published an op-ed this week saying federal officials could give northern Rockies wolves emergency protection if the species is put at significant risk.
“Recent laws passed in some Western states undermine state wildlife managers by promoting precipitous reductions in wolf populations, such as removing bag limits, baiting, snaring, night hunting and pursuit by dogs — the same kind of practices that nearly wiped out wolves during the last century,” Haaland wrote.
Wolves once ranged most of the U.S. but were wiped out in most places by the 1930s under government-sponsored poisoning and trapping campaigns.
A remnant population in the western Great Lakes region has since expanded to some 4,400 wolves in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. And more than 2,000 wolves occupy six states in the Northern Rockies and Pacific Northwest.
Yet wolves remain absent across most of their historical range. Wildlife advocates argue that continued protections are needed so they can continue to expand in California, Colorado, Oregon and other states.
Democratic and Republican administrations alike, going back to former President George W. Bush, have sought to remove or scale back federal wolf protections first enacted in 1974.

Thailand first in Asia to move to decriminalize marijuana
Thailand on Tuesday became the first country in Asia to approve the de facto decriminalization of marijuana, though authorities have left a grey area around its recreational use. Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced that the Narcotics Control Board had approved the dropping cannabis from the ministry’s list of controlled drugs. The delisting by the ministry’s Food and Drug Administration…

Titanfall 3: Is It Time to Abandon Hope For This Sequel?
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Respawn has revealed that they are removing the original Titanfall from digital storefronts and streaming services, and the decision has divided franchise fans who no longer know whether they should keep holding on to hope for Titanfall 3.
For those of you who missed it, Respawn recently revealed via Twitter that they have decided to discontinue sales of 2014’s Titanfall starting…err…yesterday. They will also be removing Titanfall from subscription services starting on March 1, 2022. While Titanfall‘s servers will be kept alive for the foreseeable future, this decision essentially means that Titanfall‘s seven-year run is over.
There’s a lot to talk about in regards to the decision to stop selling Titanfall and eventually remove it from streaming services, but the part of the announcement that has everyone talking at the moment is Respawn’s brief reference to Titanfall‘s “future.”

While there’s obviously not much concrete information available in that tweet (beyond a soft confirmation that Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends will live on for a while), the fact that Respawn references a future for Titanfall beyond those existing properties has given some fans just enough reason to believe that Respawn may finally be working on Titanfall 3.
While that is certainly one way to read that information, other fans have offered a slightly more…cynical interpretation of that statement.
Well if there were any doubt beforehand that we were never getting Titanfall 3 this just solidifies things. A true shame really https://t.co/qFdUj2sI0C

lol people making Titanfall 3 trending up in here, only to news like this Yeah in a world where Apex's ludicrous runaway success doesn't exist. lmao https://t.co/NJQ39ExuSi

It may seem strange to think that a vague reference to Titanfall‘s future would make fans less hopeful for an eventual sequel, but the fact of the matter is that Titanfall 3 hope has been steadily dwindling for quite a few years now. Franchise fans started fearing the worst when Titanfall 2 reportedly turned out to be something of a sales disappointment (despite being beloved by both critics and fans), but it was the success of Apex Legends (a free-to-play battle royale game based on the Titanfall universe) that convinced many people that Respawn would never be “allowed” to make an another Triple-A Titanfall sequel.
Furthermore, members of the Respawn team have shot down Titanfall 3 rumors in the past, even though they love to seem to do so with assistance from some kind of statement like the one above that basically translates to “Hey, you never know.”
While Titanfall 3 rumors pop up every now and then (the game was even included in that recent Nvidia “leak”) the fact of the matter is that every official statement on the state of that hypothetical game has seemingly confirmed that it is not in active development and isn’t part of Respawn’s plans for the immediate future.
Between that radio silence (or worse) regarding Titanfall 3‘s present and future, the fact that Titanfall is being delisted with little to no notice, and the fact that Titanfall 2 fans who have stuck with that game’s multiplayer have long been battling hackers with little assistance from Respawn, you really do start to get the feeling that Titanfall is more of a legacy franchise for Respawn at this point rather than this thing they feel obligated to return to in a specific way.
Having said all of that, Respawn has been consistent in their assertion that the Titanfall franchise will live on in some form (which is essentially what Apex Legends is in its own way). While it’s starting to feel like the only way we’ll get even a standalone Titanfall 3 multiplayer release is if the winds of the genre change and start to shift the industry away from the battle royale craze (which is honestly something that Halo Infinite could help with), it also does seem like Respawn is genuinely interested in repurposing Titanfall‘s universe and ideas sometimes in the future.

QUESTION
Jean Grey is top 50, but for the 1990s Jim Lee version
Jean Grey the MCOC NPC is ranked poorly
We already delisted Jean Grey (X-Men Red) as redundant
Should we remove this listing, too?
Poll
worth noting:
the Wishlist also lists Dark Phoenix, Madelyne Pryor (Jean's sorcerer clone), and similar characters like Rachel Summers/Grey and Hope. That's a lot of Jean-ish-ness
Kabam just finally made Jessica Jones playable. She was an even older NPC
