But what if Sehnyuan is tasked with hosting the sects that have gone to pay a visit to the Emperor? Usually hosting would be the main wife's responsability but, without one, the concubine must do it. Imagine certain peak lords reaction to the Calamitous Beauty that is Shen Jiu.

(And since he is not part of the Emperor's harem, he can kinda go out in public :D)

Shenyuan won't be tasked with hosting the sects since...

Emperor aka his uncle is a paranoid son of a bitch and it wouldn't do to freely give Shenyuan the opportunity to network and make connections with the powerful cultivators because who knows what kind of schemes can get cooked up!

the Emperor has servants that would be placed in charge of such duties; or if not servants, then there's some Ministry of Household or something that can deal with that work

Shenyuan is too young to be put in charge of this kind of important thing! He's only 20; if anything, it would be Shenyuan's dad. But again, the duo here have been careful to cultivate an image of good-for-nothing people who don't bother with politics and only enjoy the arts/women/life and live off of the money and riches that come with being part of the imperial family

Shenyuan (and by extension, his concubine Shen Jiu) do get to mingle with the cultivators though! Cultivators still get to roam and explore the imperial capital and there's dinner banquets that Shenyuan must attend.

As per proper imperial protocol, there are Rules about Shen Jiu venturing out of the household. These include rules set by the Ministry of Rites (and the Emperor) stating how many guards and servants must accompany a concubine of a imperial prince - assassination of an imperial concubine is a threat to the imperial family that can't go unanswered. Then there's also the rules set by the Matriarch / Shenyuan about when Shen Jiu can go out, how he must dress and behave as befitting a representative of their family, etc. (Think Kate Middleton but worse.) It's complicated AF but that's imperial family for you.

NOW IMAGINE SHEN JIU AND YUE QI'S REUNION IN THIS LIFE HAPPENING DURING ONE SUCH OUTING!

Shen Jiu goes into panic mode - not because Yue Qi!! Alive!! Who doesn't remember their previous life!! (Or maybe Yue Qingyuan should remember for more drama?) - but in fear of rumors about how the Cang Qiong sect heir tried to inappropriately touch an imperial concubine and perhaps steal the concubine away for himself. Imagine being in his position with 12 guards all staring at his back thinking 'what the fuck is going on and is the prince going to wear a greenhat', 2 maidservants acting like they are Qi Qingqi's groupies with the way that they scowl at Yue Qingyuan and demand that he do all the proper greeting ceremonies of bowing and introduction and all that shit and "how dare you talk so informally and casually to the imperial concubine!", and 2 other maidservants whispering how they are supposed to inform the prince of what happened on this trip.

I wanted to show how even though one singular person does age and decline in quality of life, society as a whole progresses, making way to new technology and quality of life improvements. As shown in the 3D animation, a futuristic city, flying cars, and a massive Hospital CMC (Colombo Medical Center).

H Mart, 1601 2nd Ave, Seattle (Downtown), WA 98101

I was surprised to see H Mart across the street from my hotel. The downtown Seattle H Mart opened in 2019. It is much smaller than what I’m used to and lacks some important H Mart features: a food court, an in-store bakery, and PARKING. But if you’re in that area, it’s probably the largest Asian grocery store and it has an in-store deli, meat and seafood (not a staffed counter), produce, snacks, frozen food, home goods, toiletries, dairy, alcohol, etc.

I went at night, so the deli was closed and not much was left. I spotted some rice based meals, jap chae, pancakes, fried snacks, and boba tea with popping boba. The color of the boba tea looked artificial.

 Much of the produce was wrapped in plastic.

I did spot a brand of mochi ice cream that I hadn’t seen before, Greenhat. The mochi ice cream is imported from Korea. And they had Happy Bath facial yogurt foam for a really good price, $4.99 (vs. $12 on Amazon).

The store is downstairs with a small seating area upstairs. Prices were higher than average for H Mart in California (not sure if this is a Washington thing or a downtown location thing – or both).
