#Green Seedless Grapes

Not sure if it is mum or sis who bought home a pair of Mango (芒果) which we kept on the tabletop for a few days for it to fully ripen. Then off it goes into the fridge to chill before being peeled and sliced. Juicy and sweet with a little firmness in the texture, just the way I preferred, not the mushy and softness of overripe fruits.

Mum bought this bunch of Green Seedless Grapes (葡萄) from her trip to the market. It cost S$10 per kilogram and there are S$11 worth in this bunch. The berries are extra large with a firm crunchy texture, not to mention juicy and sweet too. Except, that it still has a couple of tiny pips in there so not totally seedless. Seasonal fruits like grapes and most stone fruits cost quite a bit of money over here in Singapore.

The bones have friends! I still like the empty sands better, but I'm not the one who made the tutorial :P Oh well, I'm getting practice in with certain features of Blender that I'm gonna be using a ton in the Tanta Sword Scenes, so I ain't complaining

I tried these Sweetums Cotton Candy Green Seedless Grapes and these were really good.

These grapes were firm and soft while lightly crunchy in texture.

These grapes had a lightly cotton candy sweet flavor but not overly sweet.

I would eat these again in homemade chicken salad.

Rokuya Nagi: Before the Day 2 performance today, IDOLiSH7 is bringing you a look into the different green rooms.

Yotsuba Tamaki: We, IDOLiSH7, told the staff we wanted to do this project, and they suddenly gave us the OK. Isn’t that awesome?

Rokuya Nagi: We wanted to share with you all of the details of what’s going on behind the scenes between rehearsal and the live show. 

Yotsuba Tamaki: We’re using the cameras on our smartphones, and behind us you can see the dancers in the hallway. You guys good?

Rokuya Nagi: They’re waving to the camera for us. Oh! Tamaki, what were you just eating?

Yotsuba Tamaki: [through a mouthful] Fancy seedless grapes from the refreshment corner

Rokuya Nagi: Oh, the gifts from Re:vale. In one corner of the hallway, there are many refreshments like this that we’ve received from everyone involved lined up.

Yotsuba Tamaki: Pudding and other things that need to be chilled are in the fridge. Amazing, right? There’s plenty of fruit and sweets and drinks, too. Over here, we also-

Kujo Tenn: Excuse us for getting into a sudden debate in front of you. 

Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: You could say that’s Tenn’s and Gaku’s fiery passion coming out. 

Kujo Tenn: I’m extremely reluctant to admit this but...

Yaotome Gaku: Hey.

Kujo Tenn: But it’s true that this heated exchange of opinions may just be the warm-up for today’s Day 2.  Actually, it may be one of the requirements.

Yaotome Gaku: Tenn… Alright, let’s keep going all out for Day 2, too!

In my previous Post I talked about why getting Kids a rabbit is a bad idea, at least if its an impulse purchase for occasions such as Easter or Christmas.

In this Post I'd like to elaborate more on some Rabbit specific facts that might help you understand just why I don’t want people to gift animals for Easter.

1. Lifespan.

Many people think that Bunnies only live up to 4 or 5 years, but thats a massive misconception. Bunnies can actually get 8 - 12 years old, thats older than some dogs! (While I was an apprentice in a Vet Practice I recall a 14 year old Bunny that was still doing just fine.) They can get really old with proper food and care. Like Bianca here - who turns 10 this year.

Which means that getting a pair of bunnies, ideally means a 10+ years commitment, so you should critically consider if you can provide a home for an animal for so long.

2. Food and water.

Bunnies should not be given dry food, and no seeds or kernels. Their digestive and dental system is build to chew leafy greens like lettuce, cabbage and hard roots like carrots, parsnips and other vegetables like broccoli or cauliflower. Water should always be offered out of a stone or porcelain bowl, freshly each day, and it should be fully refilled whenever its empty.

A bunny's diet should consist to 60% of Fresh veggies and a bit of fruit, 35% hay, and 5% can be treats such as dried herbs, flowers or *Bunnysafe* dryfood. (Make sure its grainfree, breadfree and free of milkproducts or milkadditives as bunnies are lactose intolerant.) Additionally, seeds and kernels can destroy the roots of their teeth, which are made to grind and mush, something that doesn’t happen with the seeds. This can cause inflammations of the roots, abscesses and tooth deformations as well as give them gastro intestinal troubles.

If you're uncertain about what veggies and fruits a bunny can eat, here's a short list of the most common we feed at the shelter:

Lettuce:

Endivia lettuce

Chicorée

Radicchio

Lollo Bianco

Lollo Rosso

Lollo Bionda

Cabbage:

Pointed Cabbage

White cabbage

Red cabbage

Savoy

Kale

Broccoli

Cauliflower

Vegetables:

Cucumber (not too much, too much can cause diarrhea)

Radish

Horse radish

Carrots

Parsnips

Jerusalem artichoke

Pumpkin (small amounts)

Watermelon (savory treat in summer, always remove seeds before feeding)

Fruits:

Apples (an apple a day is okay for a pair of full grown bunnies, babies can be introduced with slices and slowly be fed more :))

grapes (seedless, green, can be fed without worry)

Banana (Small amounts as a treat now and then, contains lots of sugar, the peel should not be fed as it can cause constipation)

Cherries (MAXIMUM. 2 cherries per bunny, stoneless, too much can cause diarhea)

Berries can safely be fed as long as they are washed, rule of thumb should be maximum a handful though.

And for herbs, everything except for Chives can safely be fed, Chives, in greater amounts, can lead to kidney damage or even kidney failure.

Additionally bunnies shouldn’t be fed Rhubarb (toxic), Onions (certain enzymes in the onion break up the red blood cells causing rapid coagulation and in worst case even death), Garlic (toxic), Avocado (toxic), CHOCOLATE (Theobromin is a killer.)

What can be fed in tiny amounts (1-2 a week) is:

Pineapple - good for breaking up hair in the digestive system due to the Bromelain, mix 10ml water with 2-3ml pineapple juice.

Kiwi - good for the fur and helps break up hair in the digestive system, best fed during molting season, but only in small amounts due to the high sugar content.

Linseed (best fed as powder atop food) for coat and vitamin E, contains Omega-3s.

Chia seeds - (best fed as powder atop food) for vitamins and minerals.

A single rabbit can eat its own bodyweight in veggies in a day, so 1-2kg per day of leafy greens, cabbages and fruits are a must be. Food should always be served where the bunny goes to make its business as they do the loo where they eat. Might sound ew, but if you want a bunny thats mostly house-trained it's only recommendable. Treats are optional but should be small amounts only.

IMPORTANT: You quite literally cannot overfeed baby rabbits on leafy greens and fresh veggies! Throw the food in till the ground is covered, once its empty, throw in more. You cannot overfeed a baby bunny. The same thing goes for old bunnies by the way, they are seniors from 8 years on upwards and should always have some veggies to munch on.

3. Illnesses.

Myxomatosis and RHD 1&2 are the most known disease, but there are so many others too.

Bunnies are highly succeptible for gastro intestinal issues, teeth problems, ear infections, tumors and abscesses, chronic congestion, urinary tract infections caused by sediment in the urine (often caused by too much calcium in the food.)

And the one sickness that about 80-90% of domesticated rabbits carry: EC.

Encephalitozoon Cuniculi, an illness caused by parasitic bacteria (cuni cuniculi) in the bunny's head that can affect its nervous system and cause severe issues such as:

Mobility: Heike here has a lazy left rearleg, caused by an EC flare when she was just half a year old. She turned 2 in January.

Coordination: Elinor (white bunny on the left) is Nils Mom and EC positive. She has the typical cocked head posture that is one of the main symptoms of EC.

Internal organs such as the bladder: Babett needs to get her butt bathed 2-3 times a week because she is chronically incontinent and wets herself constantly.

And chronic congestion: Xena (Gray bunny) is chronically congested and gets her nose flushed with an ACC/NaCl mix daily, as well as daily inhalation treatment.

EC is not curable, it is only symptomatically treatable with a 21 day long Panacur and Vitamin B treatment, antibiotics are given to support the animal as well. Unfortunately EC can shorten a bunny's lifespan by several years depending on how bad the EC flare is. Similar to the Herpes virus in humans many bunnies carry the Virus without it ever breaking out.

4. Bunny safe toys:

Sticks - Maple, Oak, Hazel, Appletree and Chestnut are all very liked and Bunnies love to eat the leaf and bark - the pigments in the bark can make the Urine blood red, that is especially common with maple tree branches and leafs.

Spring has sprung~

Months of hard work has paid off. All of my vegetables, fruits, and ornamentals are in full bloom. The yard is packed with bees and hummingbirds which is a marvelous sight to see. Am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will be somewhat gentle this summer, but I am already in the process of installing shade cloth to protect them.

If anyone is curious as to how I have so many, the answer is simple: careful pruning. I keep the full size trees at half size. It makes it easier to harvest and manage them. I also bunch plants together, so if it says to space them 4 feet apart, I make it 2 feet apart.

Also, if anyone is curious about water usage, the rest of my yard is drought tolerant or well established trees. No grass, so water is only used for food producing plants twice a week while ornamental gets once a week. I use my own (usable) green waste for mulching as well as building above ground boxes which retain water better. Also by having the plants closer together limits evaporation and retains moisture better.

Do you like green seedless grapes? They are my favorite, especially those from California, which have an unmatched flavor. When I was a teenager, I lived in a small central California town surrounded by agriculture. The area was filled with peach orchards and vineyards, as well as other crops like walnuts. Crisscrossed with canals, we would explore the canal banks. On hot summer days, there was a spot we called “the falls” where we would go swimming next to a vineyard. We often grabbed bunches of grapes off the vine and savored them while sitting on the canal bank. Hmmm … that seems lake two lifetimes ago.

Last song: If We Try by the Carpenters. I really love soft jazz and smooth sway to love songs. I recommend a listen to it if you're feeling sad or wanting to get cozy.

Favorite color: I see a lot of sunrises when I get off in the morning due to working at night so I really love pastel pinks, blues, and purples to bright hues of yellow and orange. It changes a lot so I usually say rainbow although I am a sucker for yellow and green.

Last movie/show: The Apothecary Diaries, an anime with a MC who loves testing poisons for cures and discoveries, but gets sucked into the palace after a kidnapping. Very live action chinese/korean drama-esque plotlines while also her sneakily playing Sherlock Holmes to help people from getting hurt. I love it so much and am glad it's on it's 2nd cour!

Next on my watchlist: Too many honestly but the last half of Spy X Family season 2.

Last game: Catan, haha me and my cousins play this way too often but it's an amazing game.

Last book: I can't name one so does a webtoon count? I recently got into the Obsidian Bride which only has a few chapters as it's really new but I love the idea of finding true love while disguised and/or pretending to be someone else for the sake of both parties. I really root for the main character to find an escape from her true past/current situation bc abuse and no one who cares sucks.

Sweet/Savory/Spicy: Savory any day! Potato chips and filling stuff with flavor that tantalizes my mouth are always winners! I have a sweet tooth but it has to be a light or plain kind of sweet. I'm more of a bittersweet or dark chocolate person if that makes any sense. I love spicy too but have a low tolerance. That won't stop me from eating Korean spicy noodles and my tummy regretting it later (say hello to my pattern of needing physical and delicious pain when stressed).

Relationship status: Single pringle but I'd be a hopeless romantic if I gave love a shot. >_< Maybe it's a good thing I don't have the time or money for it currently.

Last thing I Googled: "Muscat grapes" bc I had bought myself a tiny box and was wondering if they were worth the price. Very sweet and easy to eat as it's seedless, but prepare for your wallet to cry a bit.

Current obsession: Knightrook brainrot train if I let myself lay around. In general, any storyline in webtoon or anime that has care, love, and longing for another's happiness basically.

Greatest flaw: I might care too much when I prefer to be a bitch. Basically, committing to things on a whim or trying to make anyone feel better, even if logically I don't think they deserve my time and energy, especially if they've wronged me.
