First doodle since… 2021, I think??? 💀
Meet Perry (Peridot) the Sabrecub from my DQ fics (imagine his eyes are green, hence the name lol)
Next time I draw him, he’ll probably be fully grown. I need to practice my big cat anatomy - and Toriyama’s style ^^;
Update: I coloured him lol

This kitty can and will throw hands.
I just find the idea of a Great Sabrecat having Multifists amusing and took it to its logical conclusion.

WIP Wednesday - The Wives of Shor I: Moth to Flame
Tagged by @tallmatcha and @thana-topsy tyty my friends❤️
Honestly if it wasn't for WIP posts I would have lost momentum a long time ago, but these just keep it building! Tagging @gilgamish Fandom: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Rating: E Category: M/M Pairing: Kaidan/Lucien Flavius Genre(s): Romance (bodice-rippers my beloveds), bildungsroman Other main characters: Inigo the Brave, she/her Breton LDB
Summary: A scene from near the beginning of the fic, Kaidan and Inigo are out fulfilling a bounty. Lucien Flavius is by Joseph Russell, Kaidan is by Liv Templeton, and Inigo the Brave is by SmartBlueCat.
23 Last Seed, 4E 401 A bead of sweat slipped out of Kaidan's hairline and slowly traced its way down the side of his face, along his jaw, to finally drip off his chin.
Midsummer might have been a memory, but the oppressive heat was inescapable on the tundra with little cover. Even having forgone his heavy plate cuirass for just a padded gambeson Kaidan was struggling not to pant from the temperature alone.
Just above the crest of the rise in the foothills behind Honningbrew Meadery, the golden back of the sabrecat was visible in the tall grass. He could hear the tearing of flesh and the scrape of tooth and tongue on bone over the steady drone of insects as it consumed its meal. Beside him, he heard rather than saw Inigo move into a kneeling position as he raised his bow. Even in the midday sun the carved ebony barely gleamed, seeming to suck in all light that hit it. Kaidan readied his own bow and nocked an arrow.
The twang-zip of Inigo's bowstring broke the hush of the clearing as he loosed his arrow, followed immediately by the wet thump of it finding the beast's rib cage and the enraged roar as the saber cat reared up from it's meal and rounded.
Godsdamnit, thought Kaidan as he drew his bowstring taught and fired, the arrow going wide. Inigo's arrow had been deflected by one of the animal's ribs; mortal but not nearly deep enough to kill immediately. Kaidan was on his feet as the saber cat roared again, and charged.
Years of long practice had his sword in his hands before the beast had covered half the distance between them. Blood and pink foam poured out of the wound on its side but it was not slowed, only maddened. Kaidan dodged one swipe of a massive paw and as the sabre cat overcorrected, trying to keep him in its sight he struck: the deadly curved blade of his nodachi pierced the animal's neck.
For a moment it almost seemed as if the cat would rise again, its hind legs and feet contracting and spine curling as it thrashed. Kaidan jumped back to avoid its death-throes, and in a moment it was all over.
"Well done, my friend," Inigo said cheerfully as he came up the hill, still with a second arrow readied. "We make a great team, do we not?"
Kaidan laughed and finally wiped the sweat away from his face. "Kind of you to say that; my arrow certainly didn't help things." He turned to look at the crimson smear in the grass where the saber cat had been feeding. "I'll have to get in some more target practice at the Companions' range while we're in the city." He pulled his sword free from the sabre cat's body, and pulled a rag out his belt to wipe it off before re-sheathing it.
"When you are in our line of work, there is no such things as too much practice," Inigo agreed. "However, we cannot all be the best archer in Tamriel." Inigo was grinning, looking extremely pleased with himself.
Kaidan grunted in acknowledgement and continued up the hill. The grass was slick with blood, and a metallic smell hung heavy in the air.
Most of a goat was strewn around the clearing; it certainly appeared to match the description Nazeem had provided. As Kaidan stepped forward, looking for a bit of the carcass that was large and recognizable enough to turn in as proof they had killed the right animal, his foot stepped on something that made a jingling sound in the grass.
He bent to pull the grass away and saw a leather collar and bell. That will do it, he thought. As he lifted it from the ground, Kaidan froze.
Heavy breathing was barely audible from the foliage at the edge of the clearing, a scant few yards away. As he looked up, Kaidan's blood ran cold.
Two green eyes above long, gleaming fangs stared back at him from the shadow of the thicket. The breathing became a low growl as the sabre cat locked eyes with him and crouched in readiness to spring.
That thing had a mate!
"Inigo!" Kaidan yelled, moving backwards as fast as he could while simultaneously trying to draw his sword - the hilt was still slick with gore he was just getting a grip on it when the sabre cat broke cover. For a horrible moment the sabre cat seemed impossibly big and dark as its leap carried it high into the air, its shadow falling over Kaidan as he struggled to raise his sword in a desperate bid to stave off it's attack.
Twang-zip!
Unlike the other sabre cat, this one simply went limp in the air as Inigo's arrow pierced its eye, snuffing out its life in an instant.
Kaidan managed to dodge out of the way of the falling corpse, but it was hardly a graceful move. He ended up sliding on his backside a few feed down the hill at the end of it.
"Are you alright, my friend?" Inigo panted as he ran the rest of the way up the hill. "I thought she had you for a moment there!"
"So did I," Kaidan drew his hand though his hair, brushing the damp strands that had plastered themselves to his face away in annoyance. He accepted Inigo's offered hand as he pulled himself to his feet. "Good thing I'm working with the best archer in Tamriel. That was an impressive bit of shooting."
Inigo preened. "Thank you. I wish I could say it was intentional. I was aiming for her heart."
Kaidan laughed, the familiar slightly euphoric feeling that always settled over him after a close call increasing his mirth. "Maybe we'll leave out that bit when we tell the story in the Huntsman tonight, eh?"
"Maybe we will, maybe we will," Inigo said, laughter in his voice. "I think we will also leave out you nearly sliding all the way back down to the valley floor on your bottom."

TES Summer Fest 23: Day 1
Hi everyone, here is my contribution to day one of tesfest using the prompt Beast.
Tagging: @tes-summer-fest
Words: 737
Warnings: hunting, slight gore, animal death, canon-typical violence
As the wind blew through the forests along the border of Whiterun, the creatures of the woods went into hiding. Even the sabrecats fled, for a much more dangerous creature was stalking the night.
She felt it run through her veins, invigorating her, as she hunted. Unlike her shield-brother Vilkas, Aela saw the beast blood as a gift. To join Hircine in his great hunting grounds was her idea of an afterlife, though she’d hoped that Vilkas would find peace in Sovngarde. For she had no doubt he would reach it.
Her nostrils flared as she picked up a scent, a deer was not far, just over the hill closer to the plains that surrounded the city. She runs, branches breaking underneath her weight; they crumble as her giant clawed limbs make contact with the ground. Weaving in between the trees, she does not need to be careful. In addition to the fact most are wary of the forests during the day, let alone at night; she had the benefit of being the strongest creature. Aela would save the fear for the rabbits in deer.
Despite how long it had been since her first transformation, Aela still felt the same rush she had gotten that first night. Vilkas, Farkas, Skjor and her; running through the forests. They had been so young then, perhaps even too young, but Gods were they free. They had felt as invincible as they were, having transcended beyond the dichotomy of man or beast.
But over time, the group slowly dwindled, Vilkas feeling cursed by his beast blood and Farkas taking on his brother’s sentiments. For a long time it was just her and Skjor. Aela loved all her shield-siblings, there was no doubt about that. When it came down to it she would not hesitate to give her life for theirs; and many times it had almost come down to that. But Skjor had been different, he had been the first one to welcome her when she joined the Companions and they had shared so much. They shared a home together in the halls of Jorrvaskr, the beast blood and on moonlight nights in the wild, they shared each other.
Though she had gotten revenge for what the Silver hand had done to him, the fact still remained that he was gone. Off to join Hircine’s hunt in Oblivion. And now Aela runs alone, chasing a high that now only she knows.
She spies the deer eating berries from the foliage, it’s larger than she was expecting, its antlers would make a great mantle piece. Waiting for a moment of opportunity, she gets it when the deer lays down, unaware of what lurks in the bushes. But Aela the Huntress is not cruel, she walks slowly, now becoming careful of the branches around her. With expert placement of her hands, she is able to snap its neck before any fear sets in. Her claws dig into its flesh, the blood spraying as she rips through a major artery.
The meat is rich and she thanks Hircine for his gift which aided in her successful hunt. As she is eating she hears the sound of ruffled leaves, she is not alone. Emerging from the dense wood, is a wolf. Instinctively she moves her body forward, arms wide in the air in an attempt to make herself even larger. But the wolf is not scared. Instead, the wolf folds back its ears and gives her a pleading look in between eyeing her fresh kill. The wolf has dark fur, identical to her own in this form, and dark eyes that appear almost soulful in the moonlight. Ripping a chuck of liver, Aela throws the piece at the beast to which it begins chewing on immediately, though its eyes never leave hers. If she was sentimental like Vilkas, she would have believed there was a metaphor to be found here. Wolf and werewolf, sharing a kill underneath the moon. Although she was not as philosophical as her shield-brother, she couldn’t shake a thought that came to her as she watched the wolf watch her. What kind of creatures are we? This thought instead comes out as a long, low howl. One that sounds not of this realm. Looking into the eyes of the creature across from her, its mouth wet with blood, a white glow forming around it, it answers her call. “Well met Hunter.”

Ancardia's Unusual Animals--the Longgui (or Dragon-turtle)
Classification: Beast (chelonian)
Habitat: Deep bodies of fresh water, especially in the Drakalors, Akimmia, and Tvearban lakes.
The Longgui—known in Commontongue as the “Dragon-turtle”—is among the largest extant reptiles in Ancardia and definitely the largest chelonian currently living in this world. Longgui are massive, long-lived, and highly intelligent and cryptic in their habits very similar to the two true dragon species, and while aquatic they are generally not strong swimmers due to their incredibly heavy bodies and will usually simply walk along the bottoms of lakes, large rivers, and estuaries, nearing shore every several hours in order to take breaths. The average longgui has a head measuring a meter in length and a carapace about 4.6 meters long by 3 meters wide. Due to the horns and protruding scale structures on this creature’s head it lacks the ability to withdraw its head into its shell, but this in no way diminishes the longgui’s ability to protect itself. Much like true dragons, dragon-turtles are very arcanely gifted and possess a natural capacity to summon bursts of fire, cold, and lightning in self-defense. As a result, the longgui have no natural predators and their population is mostly controlled by their dramatically slow rate of breeding, limitations in food supply, and a number of isopod and roundworm parasites which can weaken and slow dragon-turtles enough to further reduce their reproduction rate.
Longgui live for an average of 400 years, or until their parasite load eventually overcomes them with anemia and weakness from considerable age. While longgui grow continuously throughout their lives, most of even the giants of the species over 300 years old do not exceed 10 meters in carapace length. Their metabolism as adults in incredibly slow as well, and longgui have been known to sit on barely-submerged sandbars for more than 48 hours at a time doing very little but stretching up for air. About once every decade, a longgui becomes capable of breeding, and if lucky two fertile longgui will be able to make multiple mile journeys to find each other and dig out a suitable nesting site in marshland, lagoon, or natural oxbow lakesides. Longgui nests are constructed of layers of sand or soil and rotten vegetation, the mound often being several meters high and deep, and the longgui will lay approximately 10-12 eggs within. Only about half of these eggs will be fertilized, the rest acting as decoys should any predators burrow far enough into the nest. Longgui parents will generally leave their nests alone, but if interrupted in laying eggs have been known to become highly aggressive. After incubating for several months, the surviving eggs will hatch into juveniles roughly the size of a pie tin; this is the only time in a dragon-turtle’s life cycle where they are vulnerable to predation, and they must hurry to deeper water to avoid creatures like grizzly bears, dire wolves, owlbears, and sabrecats. Once in the water, they graze waterplants and hunt small crustaceans and molluscs in order to grow rapidly in their first few years, avoiding aquatic predators like bull sharks, large catfishes and pike, and the mishipeshu or bunyip (a close relative of the true dragons). Once they reach a carapace length of a meter or more their hard, sharp-edged shells protect them from any more consistent threat of predation, and their ability to use offensive magic protects them far further.
In the event of an elder longgui dying, a great many carrion birds and carnivorous animals flock to the area to scavenge the multiple-ton carcass, much like the lakeside equivalent of a whalefall. Humanoids also flock to the area, particularly alchemists after rare material derived from longgui and craftsmen after the dense and sturdy shell and horns left behind by the majority of scavenging beasts. Alchemists seek the smaller scales present on the legs, tail, and facial area, and must arrive at the carcass quickly before various birds and rodents make off with these pieces. Armor-crafters have been known to use the shell portions to create unparalleled shields and cuirasses, particularly Hill Giants and Frost Giants.

So last weekend was very busy, culminating in…well, we'll get to that.
We arrived at our hotel in outer San Diego and didn't feel much like going out to dinner, so grabbed a few snacks from the hotel shop.
Then there was an early start on Saturday morning as we drove to the coast to go whale watching. This was on a small boat (six passengers) heading out into the Pacific where the Captain had recently seen blue whales. Sadly, they were not in evidence that morning. But we did see a large (Captain reckoned 200) pod of dolphins, which was kinda cool. They weren't doing much apart from swimming around 'socialising' and jumping a little out of the water. Disappointing not to see any whales, but the chances of seeing any were not guaranteed (after all, they have the whole ocean to wander around in) but at least we got to see some wildlife.
After a pleasant lunch in a diner, we rolled back to the hotel before shooting out in the early evening to the local baseball stadium to watch the Padres entertain the Rockies. We didn't have any particular interest in who won the game, but it was the local team by a margin of 3-2 so the home fans were happy. Even I remained happy when I remembered I had left my sweater in the bar just before the Uber drove off, not after!
Sunday was the reason we went to San Diego in the first place - the MLR final. After breakfast (it wasn't a small one) at a place across from the hotel, we ubered to the stadium after having a short chat with the owner of one of the other (non-playing) MLR teams, the Houston SabreCats.
The stadium is very much not what we're used to out in Maryland. It's a 20,000+ seater stadium, with no rain protection…and by default no sun protection. It was a very sunny, warm afternoon! Thank goodness there was a great selection of drinks and food available.
The game itself was slightly one-sided - New England Freejacks comfortably beat Seattle Seawolves by 20-11 but it was still entertaining. We even hung around a while for the post-match set by DJ Marshmello. Yeah, I had never heard of him, but a few people seemed keen.
Final act of the day was to drive to a mall for supper, which was very nice, sitting outdoors in pleasant temperatures.
But, during the afternoon/evening I developed an annoying tickly cough. Which lifted a little by the time I got onto the plane to fly home on Monday morning. On Tuesday morning - after a night of little sleep and a huge headache - I decided to try a COVID test, and guess what? Yes, it was positive. So I spent Tuesday in bed and the rest of the week working from home. I have still tested positive this morning, which is a bit of a drag, as the cold symptoms I have been having during the week have died down considerably today.

Art of Julia, normally a King Cheetah, drawn as a Great Sabrecat from Dragon Quest. Given that she has red hair and spots already it's not too different from how she normally looks, I'm pretty happy with how this pic came out. Art by Kitsunewaffles-chan on Furaffinity.

blackreach & markarth!! <3
from these asks!
thank you for the ask! essay below...💖
blackreach: what's your favourite enemy in the game? what's your least favourite? why?
okay, so, my favourite are draugr; I know they're in every single dungeon, but I really enjoy their lore, how they still retain enough Dovahzul to speak it after death (it makes you wonder why they speak it—was it their first language? a ceremonial language? do they know you're dragon-souled?), and how cool the deathlords look with those horns. I also have fond memories of playing Skyrim for the first time in 2011 and getting wiped out like five times in a row by that first restless draugr you meet in Bleak Falls Barrow
in terms of a least favourite... it's the animal enemies, like wolves, sabrecats, bears, and the like. I always mod my game so that I'm allied or friendly with them just so I don't have to kill them. 🥺
markarth: if you could rewrite one questline in the game, which would it be?
OUGH, TOUGH ONE. there's so much I'd want to do with the main quest or the 'destroy the dark brotherhood' quest but I think my answer has to be the College of Winterhold.
as well as wanting more of a focus on actually learning and using magic so you can't just breeze through the questline with only two spells, I'd want there to be more of a focus on healing Savos Aren's wrongs at Labyrinthian, maybe some interaction with the Synod or College of Whispers, some integration of that missing apprentices questline, an explanation on what the Eye of Magnus is, a less obvious main bad guy, a Mirabelle who got to live, and some connection to the Great Collapse! like, wouldn't it be so cool if you could rebuild Winterhold—magically?
Todd Howard if you're reading I'm free tonight if you want to discuss ideas for the next rererelease of Skyrim

Dragon Quest V - Victory!
On September 24, 2023, I beat DQV. I started this save on the Android version in 2019. I managed to beat Nimzo on my first attempt! My strategy:
I prioritized abilities that can be used without spending MP and items with infinite uses. That meant I mostly used monsters on my team, although I did have at least one twin all the time, so I still got lots of party chat. For most battles including bosses, I only used four party members, although I did utilize all 8 during the final battle. My mainstays:
Ryuka the Hero (LV:37) with Pankraz's sword, Pallium Regale, Ogre shield, Meteorite bracer, and Elfin charm. Mostly physical attacks and reviving with Zing and Kerplunk. I did cast Kaswoosh a few times. Due to my carelessness I had to Kerplunk him early on in the second phase, and he remained dead for most of the fight lol.
"Harry " the Hero's Son (LV:34) with Zenithian Sword, Zenithian Armour, Zenithian Shield, and Iron helmet. Physical attacks and some Kazap, while rationing MP for a few key heals and Kazing. The Zenithian Sword itself is critical for removing magic like Bounce from enemies, although I used that more against Bjorn than Nimzo.
Harriet the Hero's Daughter (LV:31) with Faerie foil, Princess's robe, Scale shield, Happy hat, Circle of Life, Circle of Water, and Dragon staff. Yes, I only used her to cast Puff! with the Dragon staff. I kept her in the wagon until very late in the game, so she was a bit under-leveled for a while. In my defense, Puff! worked great and she's immune to fire breath attacks while transformed into a dragon, which is useful since almost all the bosses seem to use them. I think she got in a few Kacrackles as well.
Goodian the Slime knight (LV:37) with Steel broadsword, Spiked armour, Dark shield, Hardwood headwear, Magma staff, and Sage's stone. I would have him cast Boom on normal enemies, but for big bosses he was the healer. He was pretty fast and couldn't be killed in one hit. Obviously the Sage's stone was a goddess-send; with him healing everyone a little bit every turn, I used relatively few healing spells. I think he also had an Elfin elixir which I used on the Hero's Son and the Yggdrasil dew. The Magma staff doesn't do very much damage, but better than his physical attack while saving MP.
The rest of the party sat totally neglected in the wagon, biding their time and gaining experience points. I was afraid they'd be useless in the final battle, but they proved me wrong. The cavalry:
Mason the Golem (LV:20) with Double-edged sword, Zombie mail, Iron shield, and Hades' helm. You get the Double-edged sword not long before the final battle, and I equipped it to my Golem as an afterthought. It worked AMAZINGLY WELL. Between the Golem's high defense and health, Meditation skill, and Focus Strength skill, the damage dealt far outweighed the recoil. And skills don't cost MP! A surprise heavy-hitter, I think he probably did the most damage out of everyone besides maybe the Hero's Son.
Kim the Chimaera (LV:25) with Cobra claw, Dark robe, and Hermes' hat. Mostly I took her out only to Multiheal, but her Freezing Blizzard skill also came in handy (for the low cost of 0 MP).
Mohicat the Great Sabrecat (LV:32) with Orichalcum fangs, Leather kilt, Iron helmet, and Bianca's ribbon. I hadn't focused on his build at all, so I was a bit worried about his defense, but thanks to his speed and luck he stayed alive for a decently long time. Just Focus Strength and attack.
Drongo the Drag-goof (LV:16) with Iron cuirass and Top hat. He was one of my main party members until I replaced him with a better dragon... the Hero's Daughter. Flame Breath nonstop.
I did find it funny that the Hero's family were widely celebrated for defeating Nimzo and not the good, honest, hard-working monsters. After all that fighting, it's time for the victory celebration!

I love coming up with random head canons which continue to get more and more ludicrous as time goes on, but at the same time feel so damn RIGHT for the characters that I can't see them any other way.
Anyway, that's all preamble to say that once they're all living under the one roof, Erik 100% buys Don Rodrigo dumb as shit cheap novelty t-shirts they sell at the beach for tourists. And Don Rodrigo 100% indulges him and wears them around the house, and sometimes when he has to go into town for something.
They start off innocent enough, like "I like coffee, and maybe 3 people", and ends up with shit that says "same twat, different shirt" and "I shaved my balls for this"
Servantes: >_> Señor...
Don Rodrigo: <_< Hm? What? I'm getting some steak for the cat, did we need anything else..?
Servantes, looking down to a t-shirt that says "certified sex instructor - first lesson free!": ... no, Señor...
