Banned Together Bingo 2020 | FREE SPACE - Crime How-To
Title: Green Eyes Fandom: Supernatural Rating: Explicit Pairing: N/A Word Count: 1759 Summary: It's time for Sam to make his annual trip to Lawrence, KS. Everything goes off without a hitch, but he just doesn't get that rush anymore. WARNINGS: Graphic Depictions of Violence, Gore, Death, Serial Killer, Mutilation, Murder
READ ON AO3
Sam was in a small town in Nevada when he decided to stop at a hardware store and do some shopping. He was on his annual road trip, and he thought it’d be good for him to pick up a few things, just in case. It was cold, so he had his hood up, even inside the store, and, feeling shy, he turned away from most of the security cameras.
Sam found everything he thought he needed to stock up on, paid in cash, thanked the cashier, and left with his belongings.
It was a few more hours till he hit Kansas, especially with a few stops on the way (once to put on snow treads since he was about to hit a lot of ice), but he made it to Lawrence just as the sun was setting. Hungry, Sam found a bar once he checked into a motel, one that was already hopping.
Inside he sat quietly and ate his burger, and fries, and drank his beer, watching the other patrons. Some of them were too rough and rowdy and they made Sam roll his eyes. They weren’t that pretty either. Now the women—gorgeous. But they weren’t what he was looking for. What Sam really wanted was a friend, but no one seemed his type.
Of course not, stupid. Your brother was the bar type. You’re the hang-out-in-a-library-till-closing type.
Sam sighed, and picked at his fries.
Dean did always say you were a nerd.
Still, he kept his hopes up as he finished his food, and then he had a few more drinks, played some pool. He started talking with a particular man who had seemed like the kind of person he’d like. It helped that he seemed drunk enough to be fun, but sober enough to not be a total, wasted idiot.
The man’s name was John. Funny coincidence, seeing as that was the name of Sam’s late father. He asked the man if he could settle for calling him J, and then they talked, and joked, and played pool together. Hell, one guy even tried messing with Sam, and J had him walking away with a broken nose.
“Hey, you want to get out of here?” Sam asked. “Find some beer that doesn’t taste like piss? Maybe some girls?”
“You got a place where we can take ‘em?” J asked, seeming a little wary, but somewhat excited.
Sam held up his motel room key, fist closed around the little plastic rectangle that denoted the name of the motel.
J gave him a high five that turned into a strong hand grab. He grinned, face reddened. “Then hell yeah, man.”
Sam tilted his head to the door. “Come on, let’s get out of here.”
He thanked the bartender on his way out, and then he went out into the cold with J. Sam put his hood up.
“So, strip club?” J asked.
“Nah,” Sam told him, as he walked them over to his car. “The girls there are violent. I don’t blame ‘em.”
“I think it’s hot.”
“I think men should leave them alone,” Sam told him, unlocking the car, and climbing into the driver’s seat.
J got in on the other side. “What, and you do?” he asked.
Sam tilted his head. “Mostly.”
“Fine, then what were you thinking?”
“Another bar?”
J shrugged. “You know the way?”
“My family used to live here. We moved when I was still just a baby, but I come out here a lot to visit my Uncle Bobby. Oh, and I hope it’s okay if we stop at the motel first. I have to grab a few things.”
“Yeah. Cool.”
Sam parked out front, and then paused to put his hair up. It would be much too annoying if it started getting in his face now. Then, making sure no one was around, Sam held a gloved hand to J’s nose, wrapped a hand around his neck, and covered his mouth. He hugged J to him, keeping him from struggling much, and then he passed out. Sam let him slump on him because that was better than having him land against part of the car and cause a ruckus.
After repositioning him (poor J, he’d had too much to drink), Sam changed into latex gloves, and tied plastic shopping bags he’d had in the glove compartment over his feet, needing to carefully use two for each foot, and then keeping them closed with tape.
Thankfully Sam had set everything up earlier. It was getting late. He’d cleared the space, laid out the plastic… everything was good to go. The motel was even fully packed, and another patron would be leaving early in the morning, just like him (what a coincidence), so everything checked out.
It was too late for anyone to notice that he was out, and this was what he did every year, so he didn’t feel any anxiety as he got out of the car, went around to the other side, and eased J over one of his shoulders.
Sam’s knees buckled slightly. God, the man was heavy. He did fit Sam’s type though—at least six feet tall, muscular. Of course he was heavy.
He took J into his motel room and then set to work. He checked again that his hair was tied tightly and kept up under his hood, and then he got out the duct tape. It was hard working with duct tape with the gloves on, but Sam was practiced at this after years of doing it. He taped J’s ankles together, and then taped his wrists behind his back. Lastly, he put the silvery-gray duct tape over his mouth.
Sam kicked J awake.
Immediately the man started struggling, panicked green eyes swiveling, taking in all he could see before landing on Sam, who was now crouched before him.
“Hey.”
J’s eyes widened, and he started screaming. Luckily the sound could barely be heard.
Sam reached behind himself and grabbed his special serrated knife with the wooden handle from the waistband of his jeans. He rubbed his thumb over the pentagram carved right at the edge of the hilt.
“I like you, J,” Sam said, “which is actually why you’re here.”
J didn’t seem to be taking this in, too panicked.
Why did they never want to let him talk these days? Sam wasn’t trying to be rude. He did need a friend, just not permanently. Besides, they couldn’t stick around, not when they had short brown hair that could have been blond in early childhood, apple green eyes, and chiseled features. He saw Dean in all of them, and well, Dean he’d had to take care of. He’d wanted to leave him. Hadn’t wanted to go with Sam to college.
Yes, college had been Sam’s choice, but Dean had raised him. Why hadn’t the selfish bastard realized Sam would need him?
So he made sure Dean couldn’t leave him, and then when their father, John, started getting suspicious, Sam had no problem taking a knife to him too. That work wasn’t fun like it was with Dean. Just a necessity. But the son of a bitch had had it coming. He’d abused him since he could walk.
So here Sam was, finding comfort in J’s terrified presence. He liked seeing these men beneath him, liked looking into their green eyes and seeing their imperfections.
They weren’t Dean. None of them could be, and sometimes, Sam thought that’s what he was searching for.
J wasn’t giving him much fun, had just started hyperventilating as much as his body could with his mouth forced shut, snot was leaking out onto the duct tape. Bored, Sam killed him. Usually, he didn’t like to kill them right away. He liked to cut out their eyes first, but god, he just wasn’t feeling it tonight. What was wrong with him? Had he not worked hard enough on finding his friend?
Feeling a strange darkness inside at his newfound lack of feeling, Sam just set straight to work, cutting out J’s eyes; he kept the blood off his clothes. He’d mail the eyes to the police station, and with what was basically a non-address, it couldn’t lead back to him. Sam would even write with his non-dominant hand. That’s what he’d done to check in, and under the fake name of Sylvester Campbell. He’d gotten good at writing with his left hand, good enough that it looked natural, but different from his actual handwriting.
Finding himself upset at his boredom with this project (where was the thrill? The high? Any of it?), he finished up quickly. He let the eyes sit on the floor, weird, bloody lumps, as he wrote out the correct address on a manilla folder. It just so happened to be one of those ones with bubble wrap on the inside, so the eyes would be somewhat protected.
He put them in, then wrapped J up in the plastic, taping up the seams after folding them over and over on themselves. He picked up the body, placed it in the trunk, took care of the rest of his things, and then got in the car. He didn’t take the bags off his feet yet, but he had changed back into his winter gloves earlier, leaving the latex ones with J’s body.
He stopped at a mailbox, deposited the envelope, and then drove around a bit. The roads were looking better, so he stopped over by the bar again, and took the treads off the tires. Besides, the treads had done their job of confusing the tire tracks. Now no one would be looking for the type of car Sam had.
He was off, and he didn’t stop driving till morning. On the way back north, he’d left the body in the dumpster outside a diner, and for now, his trip was complete.
Sam sat in the car outside his cabin in Montana a few days later, wondering if he should go on another trip. Maybe then he’d feel that high he so desperately craved.
Sam just sighed, shook his head, and turned off Dean’s Led Zeppelin tape, not letting “Ramble On” even finish. Maybe another trip wouldn’t even fix this. Still, it was time to start planning his next one. Sam wasn’t ready to give up the moniker Green Eyes just yet.
Looking for satisfaction, Sam took out his phone, and checked the Lawrence news. And there he was: Green Eyes. He smiled. Okay, so it was still worth it. Just a little bit.

Stoppable Family Vacation - Chapter 2
Chapter 2 - The Stoppable Vacation Curse - Part I
(6:56pm)
Kim went into the den and got out her smartphone from her handbag. She called up the Morgans.
"Hey...um...Tara? I may need your help!"
Tara replied on the other end. She and Jason, along with their 3-year old daughter Emily, have stayed in Middleton.
"Oh sure, Kim! What is it about?" the former blonde cheerleader asked.
"The hubby said the FV words! What am I gonna do?" Kim exclaimed.
"Oh boy. That cannot be a good sign!" Tara replied. "We're going to have to gather the Foleys and the Halls as well and meet up at your place."
"That's probably the best idea. A good strategy must be needed for a sitch like this!" Kim replied.
"I'm gonna also get in touch with the Halls and the Rentons as well." Tara added.
(45 minutes later)
Kim, both Monique and her husband, Jamarcus Hall, Felix and Zita Renton, and Tara, whom came alone while Jason was talking care of Emily, were all present in the basement of the Stoppable house. Monique was now a web designer at the Club Banana website and a fashion consultant while Jamarcus, a former star wide receiver and Ron's team-mate for the Mad Dog football team, was the district attorney. He was playing around with his six-year old son, Jameel. Monique was also 6 months into her pregnancy with her second child at the time, whom was a girl. Felix, meanwhile, was in his new futuristic-like wheelchair, levitating six feet off the ground. The Rentons had no kids...so far.
The basement itself was extra space the family used for a small movie theater with six recliners and a popcorn machine.
"Good, now that I have gathered you all here tonight, I want you to guide through a crisis here!" Kim exclaimed.
"What's the crisis, baby girl?" Monique asked? "Is it about trying to get the latest GWA tixs to the next match?"
"Is it the lootbox controversy that's haunting the latest installment of Everlot?" Zita asked.
"Or is it trying to lock up a power-hungry supervillain?" Jamarcus asked.
"It's neither of those. Ron is proposing that the whole Stoppable family..." Kim said before pausing a bit for dramatic effect "...goes on vacation!"
The Rentons looked at Kim in surprise.
"What's so bad about a vacation, Kim?" Felix asked.
Zita agreed, "Yeah, I think it's great! Traveling down the open road with the wind blowing through your hair!" She simulated this by fingering through her black hair.
Tara and the Hall parents, on the other hand, gasped and recoiled in horror.
"You are totally not serious, are you, Kim?" Monique questioned Kim's rationale.
"What do you mean by that, Monique?" Felix asked.
"Have you seen the AddressBook photos on Kim's profile?" Monique countered back?
"I admit that I have not been on AddressBook for a while." Zita replied. "We're more into the FaceChat type of thing the young people are doing now! With their apps and FaceMine!"
"Oh God! Why are we growing so old?" Felix moaned. "I don't wanna have gray hairs at age 30!"
Kim did a facepalm and said, "Let's just get back to the topic at hand!"
"Very well...where we we?" Tara asked.
"The subject of family vacations and my family problems with them." Kim said while taking out a disc labeled appropriately, 'Past Stoppable Family Vacations'.
The redhead also continued, "And Jamarcus, now would be the perfect time to escort Jameel upstairs to play with Justin and Alexa as the disc contains stuff that would totes be on the disturbing levels."
"How disturbing?" Jamarcus asked.
"Like, R-rated distrubing!" Kim replied. "With really gorchy things that young eyes shouldn't be looking at."
Jamarcus turned to his son and said, "Why don't you go and play ball with Kim's kids?"
"Yay! I love to play ball! " Jameel exclaimed as his father escorted him up the stairs and out of the basement.
Kim then put the DVD in the projector. Jamarcus went back down the stairs.
"With the kids out of the room, let's review on the past vacations of shame."
She got the DVD remote and started to play it.
"Exhibit A, the infamous Honeymoon at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, 2011! Ron not only lost a good bit of the luggage but also...this scene!"
The scene showed the Stoppables skinny-dipping in the nude in a lake when a bunch of racoons took their clothes. They had stunned looks on their faces.
"So here we are, in the nude, and suffered through five miles of walking...right in the most populated national park in the United States!" Kim continued. "We had to avoid the crowds, and Bonnie's paparazzi just to get back to the hotel which, again, wasn't a good play on Ron's decision. It took guts and luck by Ron to recover our marriage to a hotel that I really did like."
Kim then pressed another button, moving the DVD to another chapter.
"Exhibit B, the offical first time we took a vacation as the Stoppable family. Pioneer Town in Arizona, June 2014. Justin was one at the time. It was supposed to be a fun time...but instead, it turned out worse than the gunfight at the OK Corral."
Footage showed Kim, in super-skinny black leather CB overalls with both straps hooked, a button-down short sleeve green shirt, black CB booties, hoop earrings and a statement gold necklace. She was holding Justin on the top of her head.
"I lost my phone so I didn't check the weather. It was hot outside so I was standing in the shade when Ron insisted we take our first family portrait." _
"Hey, KS! Wanna take our first Stoppable Selfie together with me, you, and Justin?" Ron asked his wife. Ron was in the Three Wolves shirt and baggy jeans.
Kim replied, sweating from the black leather of her overalls, "Sure, Ron! But can you make it fast? I think Justin's about to puke!"
"Aw man, why is taking care of babies so hard?" Ron asked, complaining while pulling out his smartphone.
He also added, "Okay, everyone bend over and say 'Ride 'em Cowboy!'"
Kim shouted "Ride 'em, Cowboy!" and then bent over. She felt a large ripping sound behind her back and Justin began to puke onto Kim's hair. Kim's cheeks then began to blush from sheer embarrassment. The belt also broke from behind on Ron's pants.
"Good thing our vacations didn't turn out like that..." Jamarcus whispered in Monique's ear.
"I also forgot, among all things..." Kim sighed, "...to wear my panties that day! And Ron lost his pants as well."
Kim then turned to their next chapter of woe from past vacations.
"Exhibit C. Walley World in California from 2017!"
She then showed a video of the Stoppable family enjoying a photo with Marty Moose, the Wally World mascot.
"For most of that vacation, it was fun...until this part!"
The video footage then showed Justin punching the Marty Moose mascot right in the groin area. Kim and Ron were both trying to restrain Justin. Alexa, however, was laughing.
"Justin then stripped down to his underwear and bathed himself in a mud puddle. We were then given a lifetime ban from the park. No questions asked." Kim groaned.

WICHITA KS DRYWALL REMOVAL
Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving - Drywall Removal
Providing the Wichita KS area with professional, fast and eco-friendly junk drywall removal services. Right now you’re probably surrounded by drywall. This is the standard “building block” used in the majority of homes. Drywall is kind of a blank canvas. Once it is put up, the goal is to cover the seams between the pieces. Paint is then applied and you’ll never know it was once a gray piece of drywall. The one time you’re reminded about drywall is when it has to come down. This will happen as part of any remodeling project. The demolition phase begins with drywall removal and this is an area where Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving can prove to be a huge asset.
Since they began their company back in 2005, Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving has established a police of doing all the work of junk removal. Typically, this means carrying out the heavy objects you can’t manage. Often that could mean making several trips up and down staircases to get to where the junk is living. That’s not a problem. However, Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving takes the removal business one step further by helping you get rid of anything whether it is currently attached to a wall or not! Translation: if it is going on the back of the Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving truck, then the Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving crew will take it down, lift it up or rip it apart.
A drywall removal job begins with punching a hole in the wall. You want to find a spot between the studs. Once you get in there, it is actually easy to crowbar off the rest of the drywall. As the pieces come down from the studs, they will instantly be loaded onto the back of the Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving truck. This will keep your project area clean and that makes for smoother work all around. As long as the studs aren’t load bearing, they can be knocked down too and create an open flow space. Once you’ve reconfigured the layout of a room, fresh drywall will be installed. That’s when you’ll have to bring in other professionals but Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving will make sure they have the space ready to build. Along with drywall removal, Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving can take apart just about anything you want to get rid of. That includes a backyard hot tub or swing set. Before you dive in with a remodeling project make sure you’ve got Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving on speed dial. Drywall removal and junk hauling is simple when you’ve got Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving on your side.
Experienced Drywall Removal For You
Drywall is a material that is important to the building process of homes and many other types of structures. It is used to help form the ceilings and the interior walls of your home. Because of health and environmental concerns proper drywall removal is critical to protecting your family and community. Drywall has been a popular building material for many years but not too long ago it was made with asbestos, and even newer drywall may contain silica dust. Many homes built before the 90’s were built with this asbestos or silica containing material. Thankfully, we are an experienced drywall removal company.
All drywall regardless of its type is dangerous to a person’s health when it gets into the air. This has to do with the gypsum dust that is prevalent in the boards, as well as the potential for silica and asbestos. When they are sanded or being torn down within a home the dust becomes airborne and very toxic to those in the area. This is why a professional drywall removal company is necessary for disposing of it properly.
Wichita Hauling Junk & Moving is the perfect business to do the job for you. We specialize in junk removal of all types including the drywall removal. Over the years we have developed extensive experience with the techniques that are needed for drywall removal. We will even do the demolition for you if you need. Once we are done breaking down the drywall from the structure we will remove it from the premises. Ask us about adding services such as demolition. Our demolition service can be used in the beginning stages of your remodeling, renovation or rebuilding project. We can tear down kitchen walls, tear down bathrooms or knockout walls in your home so that you can get that open concept feel for the space within your home. Appliances and other fixtures within the demolished area can be hauled away as well. So, whether you need to get rid of old drywall or you need a full demolition job, you should call on us to get the job done. We take crap from anyone!
We service Wichita KSbraska Wichita Iowa and everywhere in between!

170811 The War Fansign: Kyungsoo fanaccounts
@hello_apriler: Kyungsoo talked about his pets because so many people were curious. He said he's raising two and when EXO-L said “cute~” he asked why that was cute haha. They’re toy poodles and he named one Ink because it’s black and one Pepper because it’s gray. When he brought the gray one home, the members competed to name it. Baekhyun suggested Dusty
@dyohyun9293: [...] Chanyeol said if Kyungsoo kept a brown poodle, it would probably be called Doenjang
@Dearcloi, @Only_k_s: Kyungsoo was the cutest thing in the universe, seeing him between Chanyeol and Jongin but not pay attention to their games. He commented that the weather this morning was really nice, that on nights like these when the dust levels are low, it’s good to visit a playground or go on a walk in the park or by Han River with your loved ones.
@neri_1227: Kyungsoo said he’d like to take a walk if there was time today, so Sehun asked what he was doing after this. Kyungsoo has two more things scheduled TTT and he’d come to the fansign from another thing too TT
@xoxo_elephant: I said to Kyungsoo it must be hard because you’re so busy, that it looks like you’ve lost weight TTT He asked if it really looked like he did, and that he isn’t trying to lose weight on purpose but seems to be anyway. Don’t lose weight, Kyungsoo TTT
@zzyuuxx: But you know, talking with Kyungsoo in person, his way of speaking was a lot sweeter and softer than what we’ve heard.. I’m not sure how to word this, but his voice is still ringing in my ears.. It was his usual soothing and proper way of talking, but his natural voice is somehow really different
@sehunin_0412: After I got my autograph from Kyungsoo, I told Kyungsoo to ask me where I was going while I moved on ..... Kyungsoo asked me where I was going, and I said I was going to get water [t/n: a reference to EXO’s Knowing Bros appearance]. Kyungsoo beamed and we both laughed haha
@dyo_right_: A friend of mine went to the fansign and told him that her friend was a huge fan of his and requested a doodle on the photocard. She also asked how his shoulder’s muscle pain was doing, but he was so absorbed in doodling that he didn’t reply right away haha. She asked about three times before he said “Yes..? Yes! I’m okay!” So cute ha.....
@do_xoxo0112: Kyungsoo did this after I asked him to doodle on the photocard TT I’ll die TT I told Kyungsoo to always be happy and healthy and he said I’m happy and healthy every day, thank you. I said “ah, really?” and thanked him back TT
@BDGZ_9293: I asked Kyungsoo if he knew his emoticon and pointed it out on my penguin drawing. He said “Yes this one! Can I draw it?” and copied it down very seriously. I didn’t notice he even drew in the eyebrows haha
@doh_haru [jpn to kor]:
Fan: (about Ink and Pepper) Boys? Girls?
KS: Girls!
Fan: Both of them??
KS: Yes. (in Japanese) ‘Both’ in Japanese?
Fan: Huh? Oh, meaning! It’s ‘nihiki.’
KS: Nihiki... nihiki! Thank you.
Fan: (in Korean) Thank you!

Here Are the 2020 James Beard Awards Restaurant, Chef, and Media Finalists

The full list of nominees
Today, on what would have been the 30th annual James Beard Awards ceremony, the James Beard Foundation announced the finalists for the 2020 James Beard Awards, which honors the year’s outstanding restaurants and chefs, as well as food journalism, books, and broadcast media. The announcement was originally scheduled for March 25, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the Foundation to cancel the planned Philadelphia event and postpone both the finalists reveal and the awards themselves.
COVID-19 has left the restaurant industry in a precarious position, to put it mildly. Restaurants are pivoting their operations to stay in business, closing temporarily, and in some cases, closing for good. When the Foundation opted to postpone the finalist announcement, it acknowledged that it did so in part to focus on rebuilding the restaurant industry, awards being the last thing on anyone’s mind. And so it came as a bit of a surprise when on April 27 the Foundation announced plans to move forward with a virtual finalist announcement and, eventually, the 2020 James Beard Awards. Today, the Foundation revealed the Restaurant and Chef Awards Gala will take place in late September, and the Media Awards will take place in late May.
In a post on the James Beard Foundation website, chief strategy officer Mitchell Davis explained that the Foundation consulted with chefs, restaurateurs, and others in the industry and determined that the James Beard Awards finalists, like the list of semifinalists announced in late February, deserved recognition for their work in 2019. “Those we consulted felt the Awards could also offer a glimmer of hope to an industry looking for light in a very dark time,” he writes. Davis acknowledged that it is also a particularly dark time for the media, which will be recognized for the first time in the 2020 James Beard Awards cycle with the finalists announcement.
Given the ongoing restrictions related to COVID-19, the format for the 2020 James Beard Awards is still undecided but they will go on, and “take place” in Chicago at some date later this year. “We want every James Beard Award winner to have a chance to have their moment in the spotlight,” Mitchell writes. “We have partners who support this industry, who support the Foundation, who are willing to work with us to figure out what’s best for all.”
Visit Philadelphia, which stands to lose millions due to the coronavirus pandemic, is still sponsoring the virtual event. Last year, Houston hosted the finalist announcement and although there was plenty of Texas representation on the semifinalists list, including 11 chefs and restaurants from Houston, the city’s restaurants and chefs were completely shut out of the whittled down finalists list. Philadelphia didn’t see the same fate.
Below, the 2020 James Beard Awards finalists.

Given the ongoing restrictions related to COVID-19, the format for the 2020 James Beard Awards is still undecided — but they will go on, and “take place” in Chicago at some date later this year.

Joe’s Weather World: So far in 2019-55% of every day there has been moisture! (THU-5/9)
Ugh! It’s gray…it’s cold…there are wind chills in the 30s this morning…and there might be more scattered showers later this afternoon. May or November? Of course IF we get some additional moisture today…that will make it 8 of 9 days this month alone with something measurable (trace or more) and it would be a continuation of the wet/white 2019. As of yesterday 70 of the 128 days of the year have featured some rain…or snow…or something of a trace or more…that’s 55%. That’s not right!
Forecast:
Today: Pretty cloudy. There might be a few thin spots every so often but with north winds and chilly air flowing southwards…it will be tough to warm-up much. Oh and after about 2 or 3PM there might be some scattered showers on radar coming up from the southwest. Not a lot of rain but maybe something that gets things damp again. Highs near 50°
Tonight: Clouds and chilly weather with lows near 40°
Tomorrow: Better with highs into the 60s (still below average)
Saturday: More showers possible in the morning for a few hours…not a terrible day but a pretty cloudy/cool day with highs in the lower 60s.
Sunday: It should be OK…but cool again with highs in the 60s
Discussion:
Seems sort of strange to start the morning and look at this surface map and see temperatures in the 40°-45° range just about everywhere in the region with low gray clouds and north winds bring wind chills into the 30s.
Today’s high in the lower 50s is more like mid November or early March…you take your pick.
It won’t be the coldest May 9th day in terms of highs…but it should be in the top 5 at least.
Brrrr……
There are some showers down towards OK that are moving towards the NE…that could bring some drops of rain to the region later today. Odds favor only a few hundredths of an inch from this if it makes it.
At least tomorrow looks OK…
Meanwhile my thoughts from yesterday about the risk of at least some rain in the area on Saturday continue…especially during the morning hours. There will be a cold front come through Saturday night and that could even create a few showers as well at some point but whatever happens, especially in the AM will be fleeting and won’t impact outdoor plans much at all.
It’s also not going to have a big impact on the rivers…creeks and lakes but by the same token they sort of have had enough. High water levels are going to be an issue again for the MO River, especially downstream of KC and in the low-lying areas mostly. In the map below the green color represents the flood warnings.
Much of the MO River is again in flood stage…and when looking at some of the local gauges…
While not record highs…some are getting into the Top 5 of highest levels…
It’s not a lot better on the KS side either…check this out from Melvern Lake
Eisenhower State Park at Melvern Lake is up 12’. Highest I’ve seen in 10 years I’ve been going. Had to go down today with water going up and get camper out to higher ground! @fox4wx @MBogowith @KarliRitter pic.twitter.com/nXVxAptQUx

So there is water everywhere around these parts. Some good news…there doesn’t appear to be any more heavy rains coming towards our area for at least a week or so…and at this point there doesn’t appear to be any severe weather of consequence coming either for awhile. It’s been a strange severe weather season in KS/MO so far I think.
It could be worse…yesterday it was snowing heavily up in Duluth, MN…over 6″ in spots
Green grass, white snow. What’s the saying about almost 10” of snow in May?? Oh wait, there isn’t one, because this storm is a record-breaker! #MNwx pic.twitter.com/6N6vKKNJzV

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
and since it’s May…it’s not hard to break records when it comes to snow, even up there!
Several snowfall records have already been broken for the Duluth area. The table in the image shows a list of these records. Stay tuned as the Monthly snowfall total and daily snowfall for today (5/9) are likely to change. #mnwx #mnclimate pic.twitter.com/nYbGyV6kZt

Today's Denver snow is the latest last snow since May 10, 2015 (I'm assuming measurable snow is confirmed today).
Also the 5th time in the last 10 years that Denver's had snow on May 9th or later. #COwx
— Chris Bianchi (@BianchiWeather) May 9, 2019
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
Some of the highest mountain tops out there may see over 2 FEET of MAY snow…my goodness!
Next week will be better…and more seasonable…more 70s coming I think.
That would be good news for the farmers who are dealing with wet fields and delayed plantings…
The Illinois corn panting is especially taking a hit right now.
That’s it for today…stay warm! Our feature photo comes from Tommy Barragan of that cool shelf cloud that moved through the region the other day.

Three very important games for the Sox this weekend - Matt
For the second weekend in a row, The Red Sox and Yankees will go at at it in a three game series. This time around, the Sox will have the benefit of the home crowd. With a day off Thursday, the Sox will be looking to build up steam after a huge walkout win Wednesday night against St. Louis. The fireworks at the end of long games, and comeback victories that the Red Sox seem to live by at times are incredibly exciting, but not exactly the type of hill you want to have to die on going into the end of the season push. Nonetheless, the Red Sox have been playing immaculate ball these past few weeks. They are 11-2 in the month of August, and in 5 of those 11 wins the Red Sox scored 8 runs or more. The Red Sox offense is connecting at just the right time as they look to take a commanding lead in the AL East. A sweep of the Yankees here would give the Red Sox a 7 game lead in the east, and would bring them two games over the 70 win mark for the season to this point. As I see it, the Red Sox can stay on this role and take this series handily if they are able to do a few things:
The guys that are hitting for us need to continue to hit, and the guys that aren’t simply need to pick it up. Eduardo Nunez, Andrew Benintendi, and the young sensation of the last 20 games Rafael Devers, have led way for the Sox so far in their August run. With a combined .355 Average and 30 of the team’s 73 RBIs, they have been the clear highlights of what has been one of the best offensive months of baseball this year for the Red Sox. As for the guys that are narrowly underachieving, Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Hanley Ramirez to represent some of them, absolutely need to start pulling their weight. Not just for this series, but looking ahead as well. Together, those three have slashed a .248 Average with 3 home runs and 15 RBIs. Those numbers, for guys that are supposed to be rocks in the top 5 hitters in the order aren’t going to cut it, especially when some of the others are playing out of this world. Naturally Nunez and the younger guys are going to slow down, which means they have to pick it up to balance it out. If all of these guys can do their part to produce in the lineup, and Pedroia can be mixed back in when he is ready to go, there is no reason for us to not be locked and loaded down the stretch. As for this weekend, the guys that are out there need to find ways to keep getting timely hits, and hopefully before the 9th Inning and Beyond.
As far as our starting pitching goes, I love the matchups and how they play out. Drew Pomeranz has been phenomenal for the Sox the last few months now, and thoroughly solid for the entire year. He turned out a firm start vs. the Yanks last Saturday, Churning out 6 2/3 innings while allowing only 3 runs on 7 hits. It seems like every time he takes the mound, he is able to go out there and put us in a position to win, which is all you can ask for in a starter. With a 7-2 record at home and 75 Ks at Fenway this year, I think he is poised to keep that same maintain that same level of success vs. the Yankees lineup. Saturday night, the Cy Young votes leader in the AL and Sox ace Chris Sale will take the hill, and he has been absolutely dominant in his starts against New York this year, logging a 1.19 ERA and only allowing 15 hits and 4 walks in 22.2 Innings against them this year. Even with these undeniably great numbers against the Bronx Bombers this year, he has yet to log a win against them. With the way the Sox offense has been performing as of late, and with the way that Sale has performed practically all season, the odds look good for that matchup. Who will be throwing for Sox Sunday looks like it is still up in the air, but the Sox look like they will be facing Sonny Gray who recently picked up his first win in the pinstripes against the Mets. Sonny Gray is a talented pitcher who the Yankees were excited to acquire around the deadline, but in his two career starts at Fenway park, the Sox hitters looked like they were excited to see him as well (8.38 ERA). Friday and Saturday the Yankees will have Jordan Montgomery followed by veteran southpaw CC Sabathia going for them. Montgomery displayed great stuff vs. the Red Sox last time out, the Sox will look to get to him early and often as they have now gotten some looks at the young SP. Sabathia has also been very successful in his starts vs. Boston this year, but he is coming off a DL stint, and has looked less than stellar in his last two starts, and will have to prove he can get things going again against a Red Sox offense that has been heating up.
One other major leg of the game I think the Red Sox will need to be solid in for the weekend is the relief pitching. Starting pitching should be able to get us as far us the 7th and possibly 8 innings for most of the series, so closing out games will stillness to be a minor key to victories. The members of our bullpen have been mostly solid in the month of August, led by Fernando Abad, Matt Barnes and Craig Kimbrel giving up a total of 4 runs and logging 23 Ks over that span. This is frankly the only part of the Red Sox game, besides maybe base running, that I don’t have complete confidence In the Sox moving forward. I think that they really do have it in them, with Craig Kimbrel staring to heat up again it seems. Hopefully the rest of them will continue to build on a strong month so far. We definitely need more out of our newly acquired set up man Addison Reed. I think that Kimbrel has had been struggling largely because of not only a tiring arm, but the weight he was carrying at the end of games. No doubt something that he should have to able to deal with. But you want a guy like Reed to take some the heat off the closer, and he definitely has enough talent to succeed in this role, he just needs to find a way to get on the right track, and hopefully a couple of quality appearances in this series can be what does it for him.
Always good to see a well played series between these two long time foes. The stakes are getting higher as the dog days of summer are coming to an end. After all, there aren’t too many things, aside from rings, in Boston sports that are more delightful than watching the Red Sox beat the Yankees.

305 US Climate Mayors commit to adopt, honor and uphold Paris Climate Agreement goals
STATEMENT FROM THE CLIMATE MAYORS IN RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT TRUMP’S WITHDRAWAL FROM THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT
The President’s denial of global warming is getting a cold reception from America’s cities.
As 305 US Mayors representing 61 million Americans, we will adopt, honor, and uphold the commitments to the goals enshrined in the Paris Agreement. We will intensify efforts to meet each of our cities’ current climate goals, push for new action to meet the 1.5 degrees Celsius target, and work together to create a 21st century clean energy economy.
We will continue to lead. We are increasing investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency. We will buy and create more demand for electric cars and trucks. We will increase our efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, create a clean energy economy, and stand for environmental justice. And if the President wants to break the promises made to our allies enshrined in the historic Paris Agreement, we’ll build and strengthen relationships around the world to protect the planet from devastating climate risks.
The world cannot wait — and neither will we.

Providing a new paint coat can have the finest finishing touch for a home or room renovation. In case of crown molding, chair rail, base molding, decorative or casing molding, a new or refresh color can make all the things look sharp. Painting molding is not as easy as it looks. Appropriate preparation of wood is important to make sure that it looks good when completed as well as holds up with time. It is particularly true for the char rail as well as crown molding that are both likely to catch the eye. While white is the most popular color for molding, gray, off white, and even black may also add interesting contrast and provide a more natural wood stain. Some designers recommend painting the trim with the same color as the walls. This approach doesn't provide contrast, but it does introduce depth and texture to the walls.
At Handyman Services Of Wichita, we do painting of all kinds of molding in different areas of a house. Also, you can be assured that we will make the trim correctly and have that looking just how you need it to be. Molding painting needs excellent technique as the molding so often borders the ceiling or the floor. You may also trust the professionals of Handyman Services Of Wichita to offer high-quality work while painting the trim, without any stray marks on the surfaces.

Swiftbonds does not charge for a bid bond (with two exceptions, see below). The reason that we don’t charge for a bid bond is that we will charge for the performance bond if you get the job. The cost of a bond can vary widely depending on the amount of coverage that is required (see below).

Typically, a bid bond and payment and performance bond are done together in the same contract by the surety. The general contractor is the company that gets the bond. It is for the benefit of the owner (or in the case of government contract work, the governmental entity). Learning More About Applying and Finding The Right Bid Bonds For Your Needs
Bid Bonds can be complicated to apply for, especially if you don’t understand how they work. Most individuals consider this as insurance, but it’s actually a type of guarantee that the principal will perform their work properly for the obliged. Insurance companies usually offer a Surety Bid Bond, but you cannot call it insurance because its function is different. Most individuals will require you to get a bid bond before they consider your services as it is a form of guarantee to them.
If you’d like to consider applying for a bid bond or other bonds, you must understand how they work. We will provide you information on the importance of Bid Bonds and how they actually work.
The Importance Of A Surety Bid Bond
Bid Bonds will always be in demand to protect the public because it is a kind of assurance that your obligations and duties will be completed. Most states require you to get a license surety bond to ensure that your company will adhere to state code and laws and you get a contract bond to guarantee that a public project will be completed. A Surety Bid Bond is meant for the obliged since they are the ones that are being protected, but it will also benefit you because the clients will trust you and your work. There are thousands of bonds right now and the type of bond that you are trying to find will depend upon your situation.
The Primary Purpose Of A Surety Bid Bond
Bid Bonds are a three-party agreement between the principal, the obliged and the surety company. The principal is the employer or company which will perform the work and the obliged is known as the project owner. Construction companies will almost always be required by law to acquire Bid Bonds if they’re chosen for a public project. The government will require a construction company to get a host of bonds before they work on a certain project. The bond will ensure that the sub-contractors and the other workers will be paid even if the contractor defaults. The contractor will cover the losses, but when they reach their limit, the duty will fall to the surety company.
How To Apply For A Surety Bid Bond
Bid Bonds are provided by insurance providers, but there are standalone surety businesses that focus on these products. A surety company must be licensed by a state Department of Insurance.
It won’t be easy to apply for a bond since the applicants will have to go through a process that is comparable to applying for a loan. The bond underwriters will look into the credit profile of the applicant, their financial history and other key factors.
It means that there is a chance that you won’t be approved for a bid bond, particularly if the bond underwriters see something from your credit rating that makes them think you will be a risk.
How Much Will You Spend?
You cannot put an exact cost on a Surety Bid Bond because the cost is affected by numerous factors like the bond type, bond amount, where it will likely be issued, contractual risk, credit history of the applicant and more. There are thousands of different bonds available today and the cost will depend on the bond that you want to get. The amount of the bond will be a factor because you could select a $10,000 bond or a $25,000 bond or higher.
If you already have a credit history of 700 and above or very near this number, you can be eligible for the standard bonding market and you will need to pay 1 to 4 percent of the Surety Bid Bond amount. It means that if you obtain a $10,000 bond, you only have to pay $100 to $400 for the interest.
Your Application For A Bid Bond Could Be Rejected
There is a possibility that your bid bond request will be refused by the surety company since it will depend upon the information that they can get from the background check. If the surety company thinks that it will be a risk to give you a bid bond, they will deny your application. Your credit history is one of the most important factors to be approved for a bid bond because if you have a bad credit history, it shows a risk of default on the bond.
You CAN get a bid bond even if you have a bad credit score, but most likely you will pay an interest rate upwards of 10 to 20 percent.
If you plan to get a Surety Bid Bond, make certain you understand what is required prior to deciding. It is not easy to apply for, but if you know more about them, it will be a little bit easier to be approved.
A Deeper Appearance At Quote Bonds in Construction If granted, a Bid Bond is a type of surety bond utilized to make sure that a professional bidding on a job or job will get in into the agreement with the obligee.
