Due to its eyes and ears being covered by its wooden shell, this pokemon experiences a form of senssory depravation that its said to help awaken some dormant psychic abilities.“ -Moveset:     -Horn Leach     -Breaking Swipe     -Meditate     -Forest's curse

PEEKABIRCH ["Peek-A-Boo"- Birch] -Dragon/Grass -The Watcher Pokemon -Ability: Unnerve/Keen Eye - Third Eye(HA)* -Dex: “This pokemon hides among the trees completely motionless for hours, watching pokemon and human pass by. They use their heavy tails and short but wide and strong legs to help keep their long necks straight, mimicking tree trunks. By being motionless all day, while watching in a meditative state this pokemon has awakened a certain level of psychic powers in them, they can read the toughts of those who pass near them and what once were mere body markings now can be used to watch and feel their surrounding, this power often shows through a low glow along the markings in its body“ -Moveset:     -Wood Hammer     -Dragon Hammer     -Extrasenssory     -Miracle Eye

This pokemon are based on Birch trees and their markings that resemble eyes

PEEKABURL is based on a tree burl, a type of wooden growth on the side of trees

Introducing: The Dalcia Region Starters!

I present to you the three starters for my fan-made Pokémon region of Dalcia, to which I am using for an upcoming Pokémon fangame, Soul Link: Ascension!

I just got a new wave of inspiration.... By remaking every Fakemon from Pokemon Quartz.

If you don't know Pokemon Quartz, it's a old romhack (couldn't find the precise date) know for it's weird scenario and awful sprites.

Redesigning them was a very fun.

Those are fakemons #1 to #3, the bulbasaur line replacement.

Because those design are very... Boring, I decided to turn them into some sort of wood-serpents.

I decided to try and design a fakemon during a family holiday reunion to keep me distracted from the fireworks sounds and crying children! This is my actual first fakemon! Idk how hoomans can come up with incredible concepts and beautiful designs so flawlessly! Mine is more of an attempt, a fun one nonetheless.

Harbeary comes from the word Harvest and the bearry pun (bear + berry). They enjoy basking in the light, taking care of their crops until they are ready to reap and consume. Sometimes, they'll do competitions against each other to see who grows the biggest fruit.

Mimovis

Ridia Pokedex #015 - Mimovis Shy Plant Pokemon Grass Type Height: 1"00' It is thought that Mimovis can see the future, but is too shy to share its visions. When it is startled, it folds the leaves on its head in to hide its face.

Inspiration under the cut

Mimovis = Mimosa pudica + novice

Mimosa pudica is also known as the shy, shame, or sensitive plant because its leaves, when touched, begins to fold inward and close.

I decided to give it a small, chibi-reptilian form as to mimic the axolotl; I thought the animal would pair best with the plant's leaf and stem shape.

The green and pink coloration ad patterns comes from the mimosa plant itself, since the flowers are pink and fuzzy. It just happens to be a bonus that Axolotls are pink too <3

And lastly, the style of coloring was inspired Sugimori's old art style for Pokemon.

The Pokedex entry mentioning visions is tied to its oracle evolution, which as of posting this has yet to be revealed, but ties into why "novice" was decided to be a part of Mimovis' name.

Chesacrab, the Blue Crab pokemon.

Chesacrab are a delicacy in it's home region. However, these little guys can pack quite the punch too! (I hope you like that background because its the best ine here lol)

Chesanectes, the Blue Crab pokemon

The meat from this pokemon's body is rolled into balls as a type of food in its home region. Chesanectes won't let you eat them without a fight, however. (Im sorry for making the background blend into the artwork, plz dont smite me.)

This pokemon used to be used for naval warfare in historic times. It's exoskeleton is stronger than Titanium! (As you can see, I finnally learned how to draw texture in Photoshop lol)

Rubfuzz, the warm fur Pokemon

Rubfuzz has an internal temperature of 101 degrees Celsius. It uses it's warm body to survive harsh winters.

Rubrumfur has one of the most expensive furs in the world. Clothes made from it's fur gets hot easily. (These two were very easy to make and I appreciate that)

Ability: Blaze / Vampirism (User heals their HP from half the damage done to Target using fang and bite moves)

Rubrumfang's fur is the warmest in the world! It has an internal body temperature of 900 degrees Celsius. (So many lines, so many colors... never again.)

Peonybred may seem docile, but it's actually very skittish. They run as fast as possible at the first sight of danger. (Can you tell I didn't know how to do lineart for a mostly black designyet? Although I kinda like the fact that it looks less like a black horse and more like abstract shadow horse)

Dandebred, the dark horse Pokemon

Dandebred are said to be able to sense how pure someone's heart is. If a person with an impure heart approaches one, Dandebred attacks. (So my original drawing for this guy was less black then black while still being black [???] so I translated it to it not being a silhouette but also having this weird texture that randomly shifts from light to dark. I always thought this was my blandest design but it ended up interesting?!)

Bleysanbred has very low tolerance for corruption. It is known to rampage throughout the wilderness when it senses an impure heart.

Bleysanbred are used for jousting. Trainers are only able to ride them if their desire for the sport is pure. (I finnaly learned how to do line art for a black object, yay! Although I had the new problem of the other horses looking like nightmares, so I switched up the lighting on Bleysanbred to make it just as mindscrewy.)

Among the creatures of the region there is one capable of creating plants that make its enemies burn if they just touch it, but curiously this has made its sprouts extremely popular in the region's cuisine.

Arkaion Grass Starter

Grass starter of Arkaion, my Pokémon region!

I liked the concept of evolutive convergence seen in Scarlet/Violet with Wiglett and Toedscool. So, I decided to give it a go with the grass starter: they look like a regional variant of Morelull and Shiinotic but, instead, it's a different Pokémon!

Other than evolutive convergence, my other inspirations were bioluminescent mushrooms like Mycena Chlorophos, Mycena Lazulina, the colours are inspired by both the mushrooms species and the foxfire usually being on the greenish/blueish hue. The final stage has a vague reference to the Tesla coil and the lichen "cobalt crust".

Morephos and Mycoscent are Grass type, and upon evolving into Yakohm it gains Electric secondary typing.

Name Origin:

Morephos: Morel (another bioluminescent mushroom) + Chlorophos

Mycoscent: Mycena + Luminescent

Yakohm: Yakoh-take (Mycena Chlorophos' Japanese name) + Ohm (unit of electrical resistance)

🍎Appletun Ability Forms~!!🍎 Finally a break from the Convention Illustrations, I decided to jump on the #abilityforms bandwagon started by @n0rtist ~!! Appletun is one of my fave Pokémon, as most of y'all know, the forms are based around different Apple pie-esque dishes: Ripen takes after baked apples, with a hint of Apple cider, like a fermenting fruit with an extra Applin making use of the soft apple. This results in a smaller form and wonkier movements. Gluttony is based around Apple pie A la mode, making him even more sweet. I made its tail more reminiscent of Applin's, a nod to a hungry wurm. It's covered in cream and is more chunky, being even less energetic. Thick Fat is based around a Tarte Tatin; the ability makes it more resistant against Fire and Ice type attacks, resulting in a more solid body and shorter limbs/tail/ ears. This one is the roundest of them all. It was a really fun exercise in design, changing a design so dear to me .w.!!
