Simultaneously, city life has swept Rohan up and took him by storm. Unlike Chestnut Ridge, stores do not close at 10 pm. No, many places stay open 24/7. There are adults who hang out at the market at night, chatting and laughing. Then, there's the sounds of neighbors in the same apartment complex arguing, playing music, living. Backstory

On July 31st, 2005, Velvet was born along with her younger twin brother. Her parents only wanted a boy, so she never got a lot of attention. She was cared for on and off by her parents and grandparents. Velvet made a strong connection with her grandmother, January, who was a famous singer in her days. Her grandmother was the main reason she wanted to start singing.

At the age of six, she was enrolled to a private primary school with her brother. Velvet became instantly popular for her famous grandmother and dentist parents. She became friends with almost everybody and loved her younger years. In year 3, her grandmother passed away. It was difficult on Velvet as she lost her main caretaker and friend.

At the start of secondary school, Velvet started becoming rebellious. She and Veneer would sneak out of the house to go to parties, smoke, etc. Eventually, the two were caught. As a punishment, they were given too many activities to worry about instead of sneaking off. She really started to despise her parents.

Velvet would skip her extracurriculars and use her free time to hangout with her friends or sleep. In year 12, she started dating. Velvet was dating the goalie for the school’s football team. However, he was a cunt. He was toxic and emotionally abusive towards Velvet.

This relationship was very draining for her. It made Velvet’s mental health really decline. One day, she got into a heated argument, and he hit her. Velvet went to protect herself, but Veneer jumped in and beat the fuck out of him. Safe to say, he never messed with her again.

Around that time, she started her singing career. Velvet would post her songs on SoundCloud, and got a few thousand followers! She felt consumed by the fame and wanted MORE. Velvet convinced her twin brother to start singing with her a bit after. They became insanely famous stupidly fast.

Velvet was blinded by her fame and money, making her toxic and controlling. It was so bad that she had to go to weekly therapy to control herself. She moved out of her parents house and into a beach home for her and Veneer.

She lives with Veneer right outside of Mount Rageous. she’s pretty happy now. She loves her life and how far she’s come.

He was spoiled to death by his parents, but it made him uncomfortable. Ever since he was a toddler, he was weirded out by his parents. However, there was an important figure in his life that made him not uncomfy: Valentino Mazzola Sr.

His grandfather supported his love of dance and acting, but also taught him “manly” things. Veneer was very close to his grandfather. He started attending a private primary school with his twin sister. Quickly, he became popular; not just by his family being famous. Veneer was an extremely nice kid in Primary School.

In middle school, Veneer started to experiment with who he was. He started painting his nails, got his ears pierced, and acted more feminine. But this angered his parents; they said that they didn’t want a gay child. With that, he started becoming very secretive. Veneer didn’t talk to certain people for months on end.

When he got to year 10, his grandfather past away. It was really hard on Veneer. On top of all the stressful activities he had to do; he had to suffer loss. This was when Velvet and Veneer started their singing career. (Ha that rhymed).

He felt so happy that people adored him; he felt even happier his sister was getting the attention she deserved. Due to getting famous, Veneer really stopped caring. He became himself and didn’t give two shits if his parents started complaining.

“I still cry for that teenager that was left with an ultimatum that would unknowingly change the trajectory of her entire life and leave me scarred and traumatized for years. When I told my dad “NO!” I didn’t want to live with him as he threw my mom out of our family home , I didn’t realize at the time that I was choosing death. I meant NO ! I want all of this to end now. NO! can we fix it ? NO ! Let’s press rewind …My innocence was killed that night &I lost everything I ever knew to be true. I had always felt the absence of love but then safety vanished as well. No one ever asked me if I was ok . No one. Not once. I began to look for home in all the wrong people and places. Both of my parents swear they did “their best” with me but the way my brothers were and still are treated , I know that’s not valid. I was denied child support my entire teenage years while everyone else received lavish new clothing &designer shoes , I would get berated if I ever tried any piece of my moms wardrobe on. I remember hearing “YOUR DAD GIVES ME $600 A MONTH, ALL FOR FAT” an innumerable amount of times. So I would walk to this bootleg cd/dvd/ women’s apparel store called “Hot Girls” every single day after school begging the owner to let me work there. It’s lowkey so funny cause it was right across from the police station and he was pirating his ass off 😹😹😹 He finally agreed and I made $5 an hour , from 4-8 , when I got off the bus I would go straight there &all day Saturday. Mutants awaken powers because of fear, aging, puberty, stress, & traumas.

They lived as a common, ordinary human. Nothing that interesting happened to them in those many years of life. Until they were a preteen. However, this was about to change.

Somehow, they awakened their latent mutant genes. The mutations changed their body and bestowed them with powers. They were a mutant this whole time and didn't know. Their powers were latent. They didn’t awaken until they were a preteen. So of course they didn't know.

Some mutants activate their powers at birth. Some mutants activate their powers at a very early state of their life. Some mutants activate their powers even before birth. Some mutants activate their powers due to stress. Some mutants activate their powers naturally. For various reasons. Some are activated due to fear, hunger, starvation, and emotional traumas.

Mutants are born with a genetic mutation that gives them the potential for superpowers. These powers are usually dormant until activated. Some mutants may experience a gradual awakening of their powers. With abilities slowly becoming more refined over time as they learn to control them. A significant emotional or physical stressor can sometimes trigger the sudden emergence of a mutant's powers.  For some puberty is a common time for mutant powers to manifest. Due to hormonal changes and rapid physical development.

This is how she awakened her inherent powers as a mutant of color. Powers that were latent since birth and childhood. A combination of puberty, hormonal changes, aging (into a preteen, teenager, & later young adult esp as a mutant), fear, stress, & traumas. 

Her awakened powers were made even stronger by exposure to quantum energy, dimensional energy, esoteric energy, temporal phenomena, spatial powers, & reality warping. When she was starting out as a rookie mutant superhero as a young adult.  

While a child’s behavior in school may be disruptive. Frequently it is not criminal. It may be a reaction to trauma. As an expression of anger and frustration over stressors in the child’s life. Including exposure to violence.

Since detention causes ex­er­bat­ed health issues, a derailed aca­d­e­m­ic track, is unfair towards minorities, & is costly. Youth do better when they stay in their communities. Youth do better when they stay with their families.

This was fortunately made better by parental involvement, family support, strong family bonds, adult role models, positive coping skills, rehab (for drugs and alcohol), rehabilitation (instead of detention), resilience (ability to bounce back from setbacks and adapt to challenges), therapy, consoling, emotional wellbeing, a sense of safety, learning martial arts, positive self esteem, strong self esteem, positive self perception, a healthy lifestyle (as much as she can with her disabilities), positive social connections, peer support, community, healthy relationships, training (for her mutant powers), future planning (thinking about career goals, college plans, and life aspirations), educational aspirations (goal of graduating from high school and college), personal interests (having hobbies and activities they enjoy and pursuing passions outside of school), academic engagement (feeling challenged and supported in school), & academic achievement (performing well in school and feeling capable in academics).

This was helped by her getting involved in extracurricular activities. Such as academics, afterschool programs, student government, athletics (junior high, high school, & college), internships, art, clubs (hs and collegiate), performance art, volunteering, media (school: journalism, radio, yearbook, television, magazine, & website), role playing (table top and larping), competing in martial arts, music (band, choir, & orchestra), part time jobs (in hs and college), social activism, & community organizations. 

This was helped by finding community with other people of color. This was helped by becoming more connected with her culture, languages, traditions, customs, etc. This was helped by finding community with other mutants. This was helped by finding community with other disabled people. This was helped by finding community with other queer and trans people.
