IT'S A WONDERFUL KNIFE (2023)
Clever wordplay to reuse the title and plot of It’s a Wonderful Life in such a way. They got a little messy with the magic and the plot twisting at the end but it was a pretty fun movie all around. Spunky teens learn the true meaning of Christmas (blood and gore) thanks to an evil angel, it is a wild ride for sure.
⭐⭐⭐.5
Trigger Warning Suicidal Ideations
I thought our killer was going to be a white knight, a Christmas Avenger, but the first person he kills is the grandpa who doesn’t want to sell his land! Oh, ‘cause it is the evil mayor, this is turning into a Scooby Doo caper, he even kills the granddaughter so the land can’t go to her! Her best friend is gonna get some retribution in frying the mayor with a car battery but that won’t bring the granddaughter back. Skip forward a year and everyone is trying to move past it except the best friend because she almost died in the massacre which is a very fair reason to be grumpy!
Winnie (the best friend) is having a tough time adjusting and the people around her are NOT making it easier so she makes a wish about never having existed and POOF! The Angel Killer as he is so affectionately named is back in business killing and killing because Winifred was never there to stop him. His kill count went from about five (5) to 25. She attempts to go to her folks for help but she was never born so they don’t know her and besides, they are wrecked with grief because their only son was killed by the Angel since Winnie wasn’t there to save him.
Winnie befriends the school weirdo who is totally game for a mystical, magical adventure which is very true of weirdos, I can confirm we LOVE a quest. Anyway, Bernie is Winnie's new friend and she has access to the local cinema which is boss as hell and they need to escape there because the killer comes for them that night! Ah! In the morning they attempt Winnie’s family again and it only makes her father more angry and we find out the twist which is that her daddy went baddie after his only son died and killed for his boss I guess? Weak, I mean, wack. He kills the alternate universe mama and goes after the aunt (played by Scream Queen Katharine Isabelle) who is now on our side but dies very quickly.
The girls are able to best daddy dearest but this isn’t enough to make the magic aurora stronger for Winnie’s wish so they need to also kill the original Angel killer who is the Mayor and he has the town under a magic spell of sorts that breaks when he gets murdered by Bernie (which was pretty badass of her). Then the aurora is strong enough and Winnie wishes away but not before the girls share a cute kiss. Waking up in her bedroom, Winnie is happy to find her family the way it was left before her original wish, alive. She remembers Bernie all alone and rushes to her rescue and magically Bernie remembers everything! Okay.
The movie really fell apart near the end, it had magic that was selective, the plot twist I thought was weak, and just in general threw in that Winnie and Bernie were in love instead of best friends which I thought was cute but I love a BFF storyline (sue me).

First Lady of Struggle - Mary McLeod Bethune
“The responsibility rests on us. We can get better results thinking and planning together. We must think about each other’s problems. Let us band together and work together as one big brotherhood and give momentum to the great ball that is starting to roll for Negroes.”
—Mary McLeod Bethune, Remarks at 1st Meeting of the Federal Council on Negro Affairs (Black Cabinet), August 7, 1936
Mary McLeod Bethune in her office at Bethune-Cookman College, 1943: https://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2017843210/
Much of the success of the Black Cabinet was due to the influence of its leader, Mary McLeod Bethune. In 1936, FDR appointed Bethune as Director of the Division of Negro Affairs in the National Youth Administration (NYA). She served there from 1936 until the agency’s demise in 1943. The highest ranking African American in the federal government, Bethune was also the first Black woman to administer a federal program. A forceful and inspiring leader, she helped make the NYA the New Deal’s most racially progressive agency.
Bethune occupied a uniquely powerful position among Black officials in Washington. Before joining the New Deal, she had forged a distinguished career as an educator, women’s club movement leader, and civil rights advocate. Bethune was the founder and president of Bethune-Cookman College and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). In 1940, she would become a vice president of the NAACP. Her speeches and regular contributions to Black newspapers further raised her public profile, helping her earn the title “The First Lady of the Struggle.”
During this time, Bethune became a close friend and confidante of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. She used her connection to ER to bring racial discrimination issues directly to President Roosevelt’s attention and FDR held her in high regard. At Bethune’s invitation, ER spoke at the National Conference on the Problems of the Negro and Negro Youth that Bethune and other Black Cabinet members organized in 1937. In 1938, the two friends co-hosted a major White House conference on the problems of Black women and children.
Members of the Black Cabinet acknowledged the power of Bethune’s dynamic personality and White House ties and usually deferred to her leadership. Her offices at the NCNW served as a hub for Black Cabinet meetings and she provided critical support to other Black racial advisers.
“I am writing to urge your support of H.R. 10340.”
-- Mary McLeod Bethune to Franklin Roosevelt, June 3, 1938
In June 1938, Bethune solicited FDR’s support for a bill to increase federal funding for African American education in the South. A handwritten note from FDR’s personal secretary Grace Tully on the upper right instructed the President’s assistant Marvin “Mac” McIntyre “to prepare reply after taking up with the Congressman who is responsible for it.”

The Magic Transformation of Shadow, the Beautiful Black Cat by Skye McLeod Fairywren, Blogger Via Flickr: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Once upon a time, in a cozy little town, there lived a beautiful black cat named Shadow. Shadow was sleek and mysterious, with fur as dark as the midnight sky and eyes that glowed like amber jewels. He was adored by his owner, who loved him dearly and often marveled at his graceful movements and playful antics. As Halloween approached, the town began to transform. Pumpkins appeared on doorsteps, cobwebs adorned windows, and the air was filled with the scent of autumn leaves and sweet treats. Shadow’s owner decided to decorate their home with a spooky yet whimsical theme, complete with enchanted gardens and magical elements. One evening, as Shadow wandered through the house, he noticed a peculiar glow coming from the attic. Curious as ever, he padded up the stairs and found an old, dusty trunk. Inside, there were various Halloween decorations, including a witch’s hat, a broomstick, and a shimmering, enchanted collar. Shadow’s owner had always believed in the magic of Halloween, and this year, they had found a special collar that was said to bring out the true spirit of the season. Without hesitation, they gently placed the collar around Shadow’s neck. As soon as the clasp clicked shut, a soft, magical light enveloped him. Shadow felt a tingling sensation spread through his body. His fur seemed to shimmer with an otherworldly glow, and his eyes sparkled with a mischievous light. He looked at his reflection in the mirror and saw that he had transformed into a Halloween cat! His fur now had subtle, glowing patterns that resembled swirling autumn leaves, his head was now an orange Jack o' Lantern, and his eyes gleamed with a playful, magical energy. Embracing his new look, Shadow pranced around the house, delighting in his transformation. He became the star of the Halloween festivities, charming everyone with his enchanting appearance and playful spirit. Children and adults alike were captivated by the magical cat who seemed to embody the very essence of Halloween. As the night of Halloween arrived, Shadow’s owner dressed up as a pretty witch, complete with a cute orange & black outfit, and a hat adorned with stars. Together, they welcomed trick-or-treaters, sharing stories of magic and wonder. Shadow, with his new Halloween persona, brought joy and enchantment to everyone who visited. From that day on, Shadow was known as the Halloween Cat, a symbol of the magic and mystery that the season brought. And every year, as the leaves turned golden and the nights grew longer, Shadow would don his enchanted collar, reminding everyone that magic was real and that the spirit of Halloween lived on in the hearts of those who believed. And so, in the cozy town, Shadow the Halloween Cat and his owner continued to celebrate the magic of the season, creating memories that would last a lifetime. 🎃🐾✨ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Written using AI with my details ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bento Mesh Head: LAQ Ivy Bento Mesh Body: Maitreya LaraX Body: Velour Athletic Hair: Alvilde by Magika Ensemble: Grinda (incl. armbands, collar, dress, garters, hat, upper decoration, wings, panties in 4 pretty colors for Lara, LaraX, Legacy, & Reborn) now @ Planet 29 @ maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Planet29/87/126/21 Nightmare Rings: (Yummy) Witch Boots: Wicca's Wardrobe Pumpkin Cat Animesh (Companion): [Rezz Room] Fall Iced coffee: :::ChicChica::: POSE: Criss-Cross Mirrored: {Caress} FALL HOME BACKDROP: irrISIStible

You're in my head
I had plans for the weekend
But wound up with you instead
Back here again
Got me deep in my feelings
When i should be in your bed
You and i go back to like '09 it's like forever
And you were there my lonely nights, yeah, keeping me together
So wouldn't it make sense if I was yours and you could call me your baby
But we say we're just, say we're just
Friends
Just for now
Yeah but friends don't say words that
Make friends feel like more than just
Friends
Just for now
Now I'm over pretending
So let's put the "end" in friends
Friends
Just for now
Yeah but friends don't say words that
Make friends feel like more than just
Friends are not supposed to get too close
And feel emotions that we're feeling now, now, now
We ain't slowing down, down, down
But once we cross the line, there's no denying you and I can never turn around, round, round
Know we'll never be the same
You and I go back to like '09 it's like forever
And you were there my lonely nights, yeah, keeping me together
So wouldn't it make sense if I was yours and you could call me your baby
But we say we're just, say we're just
Friends
Just for now
Yeah but friends don't say words that
Make friends feel like more than just
Friends
Just for now
Now I'm over pretending
So let's put the "end" in friends

Hey Cina,
I know you mentioned before that you don't watch TV so may not get the reference (I only know because reasons.) but you betta NOT do like the writers of McLeod's Daughters where every single original character that started the series was killed off or left town and never returned... :D Seriously though, It's interesting that the TBC picture is of the 'good doctor' especially since he has a dual career in psych and surgery.
I am wondering if he is going to have to physically tend to Darren (again.) AND check in more on Hope who may have trauma regression with the possibility of losing another person she loves especially while carrying life in the early stages. AND Indya might regress regarding accepting graceful aging with the possibility that the love of her life may be reflecting the sickness and death that she was / is afraid of.
Oof!! Okay no, I don't know anything about the McLeod daughters but I do know if the Good Doc™ is fixing his tie, he's about to put in work I fear.
And I'm worried.

Fan Alasdair Dickson on seeing Jeff at Rough Trade Records in London March 19, 1994 via his blog alasdairdickson.wordpress.com, December 14, 2017:
When I caught the No.12 Routemaster into town from Camberwell Green, then descended Slam City Skates’ spiral staircase to the Tardis-like Rough Trade shop in its basement, I’d not yet heard any of Buckley’s music, acting solely on a brief but enthusiastic NME review of his set at the New York Music Seminar the previous year. The article mentioned how a frantic-looking Alan McGee had been spotted running around, trying to sign Buckley to Creation Records before his performance had even finished. Three years earlier I’d fallen in love with the music of his father, Tim Buckley, thanks to a landlady who’d left behind a pile of records she didn’t want, including his debut. I’d hopped on that bus fully aware that I didn’t have money for the return journey, so determined was I not to miss this show.
When I reached the bottom of that staircase I was greeted by an apparently comatose, stupidly handsome man standing roughly a metre away, his hands by his sides, a stratocaster hanging from his shoulders and wearing a fashionably oversized Houses of the Holy t-shirt. Taking my place amongst the modestly sized throng of punters, I realised that I was still in daftly close proximity to the performer, although this was quite normal for gigs in that shop. Buckley’s eyes remained closed and he was motionless, his head hanging slightly forward. One of Rough Trade’s familiar staffers came clunking down the metal steps, holding a polystyrene cup of coffee from Neal’s Yard Bakery. Buckley opened his eyes and took a sip, then placed the coffee on the floor. Very gently, he began playing his guitar, except he was playing so quietly that I initially thought he was just tuning up. Eventually, the circular melody he was playing was accompanied by a high, distant hum that slowly grew in volume. I now know this to be the beginning of Mojo Pin but then I had no idea what it might develop into; I certainly didn’t anticipate the extraordinary vocal range he was about to unleash on us all. It was surreal to witness this human statue yawn himself awake with the aid of his music. In retrospect I’ve often wondered if this was all part of the performance (although he did request a second coffee very soon after the first!)
Buckley pretty much played the mini-album he was promoting, Live at Sin-é. I am, however, adamant that the second song he launched into, with its memorably clanging guitar chords, was Grace; five months later I would hear it for only the second time, when he and his band appeared on BBC2’s The Late Show. (It’s worth looking out for the singer’s reaction when Tracey McLeod mentions his father during her introduction.)
What was striking about Buckley’s performance was how funny he was in between songs; his set could have even been viewed as a stand-up comedy gig bookended by music. If he’s to be compared to his father at all, his comic sensibility should be included alongside any musical parallels; just listen to ‘Dream Letter: Tim Buckley Live in London’ and you’ll hear the funniest comedian in town introduce his next song. The tragically early deaths of both singers, and the mythologies that have grown around them since, are in danger of erasing the light and shade that was abundant at their concerts, ditto Nirvana’s frequent larking about onstage. (”I’m a standard lamp!” – Krist Novoselic.)
The Rough Trade show was punctuated by a running stream of banter between an unnamed Melody Maker journalist, his girlfriend and Jeff. Buckley and the scribe traded faux insults with one another, while the singer pretended to flirt with his partner.
Shortly before launching into his cover of The Way Young Lovers Do, Buckley gulped down more coffee and, in his sharp-toned voice, murmured ”Coffee overdose.” The journalist blurted out ”Kurt Cobain”, in gallows humour reference to the painkiller-induced coma the Nirvana singer had survived earlier that month. ”That guy?…”, retorted Buckley, "…Lightweight!” We all laughed. ”No seriously,” he continued, ”I was so shocked, I wanted to call him and say ‘Oh Kurtis!!! I was so worried!!!” (I shall now lapse clumsily into present tense and describe how, at this moment in my recollection, Buckley has grabbed the mic by its stand and is lurching forward and wailing into it, in a camp and melodramatic send-up of himself.)
That was the only time I got to see Jeff Buckley play live. When his death was confirmed in May 1997, I kicked myself for never having seen him with his astonishing band. I should have counted myself lucky that I got to see him at all and in such an intimate setting, despite the 4½ mile walk home. (📷 Nicola Dill)

Incident Statement #2012739. Department of Espionage.
Testimony: Supervisory Special Agent Eliza Acevedo. Awaiting second signature.
In the early hours of dawn on the 13th of January, killjoy known as "Phantom Spades" (Matthew Walsh, SUBJECT 98) was apprehended and returned to re-education and experimentation. Re-education proved to be difficult but eventual thanks to measures taken by doctor Yulian Ivanov and exterminator E. Subject 98 was returned to working order after the untimely death of Richard Reed and placed in extermination.
A few months later, Acevedo and SSA Alexander McLeod were approached by 98 proposing interdisciplinary work in extermination and espionage. With his background in espionage under [CLASSIFIED], 98 proved to be a valuable asset to the department and was implemented as a duo-class agent. 98 excelled in this position and soon gained access to documents and various forms of intelligence.
At an unknown time, March according to 98 when speaking over the waves, 98 turned defective under McLeod and Acevedo. Unknown at the time, their duties remained with minor adjustments to their medication to aid with their objectives. 98 showed no signs of defecting or malfunction at this time. For a brief period their medication increased following the death of supervisor Grace Navarro to aid with emotional stability.
Shortly thereafter, Yulian Ivanov and Edith Reed arranged a meeting to discuss placement of the experiment within the departments. Doctor Ivanov wished to see 98 return to extermination while espionage wished to keep 98 in the department. A co-supervisor dynamic was formed between the two departments between exterminator Marjorie Kelly and SSA Eliza Acevedo. Again, 98 showed no sign of defecting or malfunction.
When Kelly became unable to fulfill duties as supervisor due to an unknown incident, Doctor Ivanov took over. SSA Acevedo expressed concern regarding the previous history between 98 and the doctor as he was responsible for the conditioning and creation of [CLASSIFIED], but no action was taken. During this time numerous SSA's within the department began disappearing or were found dead. No action was taken and 98 was active in the investigation.
Most recent events include the discovery of previous SSA Alexander McLeod working alongside killjoy known as "Cyber Shadow" (Alyssa Walsh) infiltrating and firing in the anniversary dinner. McLeod has yet to be found and is wanted deceased as a traitor. Damage to espionage is being determined as well as a list of agents who have left the department. Freezing of several blood samples of the 90s class and other experiments have rendered the samples useless to the Department of Experimentation as 98 revealed himself to have returned to the killjoys. The Department of Espionage is not taking new objectives or any further questions until further notice and the reception is closed until all intelligence is regained.
Further ivestigation is required to determine damages and losses from Subject 98. This individual is wanted alive by all impacted departments.
Eliza Acevedo
Supervisory Special Agent.

Crusaders Super Rugby Pacific match Preview
The Waratahs of New South Wales and the Crusaders of Christchurch, New Zealand, will play a crucial match on Friday in Super Rugby Pacific round eight that might determine the future paths of both teams’ seasons.
Both have had unsatisfactory beginnings. Before defeating the Hamilton-based Chiefs in round six, the reigning champion Crusaders dropped their opening five games. The Sydney-based Waratahs had great expectations going into the season, but they have only won one game and are currently sitting one spot above the Crusaders in 10th position in the standings.
Now that the regular season is halfway through, both clubs must win practically every game left to have any hope of making a significant appearance in the postseason.

5 Most Underrated JDM Cars To Modify
Between Drift Tax, Social Media Influencers, and the great import apocalypse, reasonably priced JDM legend cars have become a thing of the past. This leaves prospective enthusiasts to look into less praised platforms to try to find their diamond-in-the-rough, and ultimately the car they will use to cultivate their entire automotive persona, but fret not, the JDM market is full of underrated underdogs that have the potential to catapult you into the illusive 10’s, look tasty on bags, or induce oversteer so snappy that spiral parking ramps will tremble at the very sound of your $100 welded diff. Today we will explore 5 Underrated JDM Platforms to modify… in reverse order.
5. Subaru Forester
The Subaru community has earned the distinction of being one of the most loyal to their platform. Despite headgasket failures, equal-length debates, and industry leading depreciation, Subaru’s bang for its buck can not be overlooked. Often equipped with turbochargers, all-wheel drive, and manual transmissions Subaru is an obvious choice for many, but when we look past the veil of the STi, one model stands above the rest. The Subaru Forester, specifically the SF, SG, and SJ chassis, offers practicality and modularity in a way that has escaped modern commuters. In terms of practicality, this Forester is the ultimate budget camper, friend hauler, and parts hauler thanks largely to it’s wagon. However, where the magic happens… or could happen is right between the headlights. From the factory, these cars came with quite a few engine options, most notably the EJ20T for the SF and SG and the gangster EE20T in the SJ. When paired with one of Subaru’s many 5 speed manual transmissions, this translates to roughly 170 to 230 horsepower making it’s way to the pavement by way of all four tires, and with the right inputs and modifications, that’s fun. Personally, My SG would feature the EJ20T and I’d match it with the full CUSCO Chassis Reinforcement suite and sway bars and bring it down to my level on a set of KSport Kontrol Pro Coilovers. To get the most induction noise possible, I would add a Perrin Cold Air Intake, a Perrin Equal Length header, and an Invidia G200 cat back. To ensure we get the power to the wheels, I would run a McLeod Street Elite Clutch Kit and call it a build, but there’s so much more to do to make your Forester yours.
4. Mazda RX-8
What’s an Iori blog without mentioning Mazda. While I could easily mention one of the 4 generations of Miata, it’s been done. Most of the generations of the RX-7 are quickly becoming unobtanium, so that’s not fair. And despite their development of their new Turbo Inline 6 cylinder engine, Mazda has fallen out of automotive performance grace. However, before the tomb was sealed, Mazda gave us the controversial RX8. While the Renesis didn’t do much in terms of elevating the rotary design, it did serve as both the RX8’s gift and it’s curse. Industry leading engine failures has catapulted the RX8 to Maserati levels of depreciation, meaning a solid running example could be purchased and road worthy for under $5,000. However, the power plant isn’t as important as the RX8 versatility as a high performance motorsport chassis. Truly a car that can be built for any discipline, while boasting the engine bay real estate for JZ, LS, and REW swaps, the RX-8 will forever be tuner car royalty and it’s flexibility is the key of that claim. All swaps aside, my series II RX-8 would breath in through a TAKEDA Retain Stage-2 Pro Dry Intake and out through the A’PEXi Hybrid Mega Evo Catback for maximum flames, but no drone. I would ditch the factory bumpers for the Vertex Lang Full Body Kit, lower it on Tanabe Sustec Pro CR Coilovers, and having performing as well as it looks with a VR Tuned ECU Flash to give my FD3S a run for it’s money. Of course it would be painted Phantom Blue Mica. What about yours?
3. Lexus IS-300
Known by it’s JDM surname, the Altezza, when debuted in Japan October 1998 and announced for release the following year in the United States, was destined to be a low key classic. Picked up by the development team of Need For Speed Underground 2, we got a first glimpse into what the Altezza was capable of. As the 2JZ-GTE dominated the import scene, it’s milder sibling, the 2JZ-GE which powered the IS-300 was vibing in the background waiting for its day in the limelight. Well, that day is finally here. Easily one of the most underrated drift chassis in rotation today, the 1st Gen IS-300 (XE-10) produces enough torque to slide the rear around most grassroots corners and is easily improved upon without breaking the bank. Often called the Honda Civic of the Toyota realm, its simple lines and mass production numbers makes the IS-300 an easy choice for any list of underrated performers. Obviously, my Altezza’s 2JZ-GE would get the full Turbosmart treatment with a splash of Deatschwerks to put me at about 300ftlbs of torque, Endless SS-M Sport brake pads to slow me down, APEXi N1 Type EVX Coilovers to keep me down, and an APEXi WS2 Cat-back to keep the neighbors happy. Before you ask, yes, I would cut the knuckles and retrofit a AgencyPower Handbrake for science.
2. Lexus SC300/SC400
No car fits the monicker of budget Supra better than the SC300/SC400. Similar chassis to the MK-4 Supra, the SC features two very capable power plant options, a luxurious interior, and a resale value so low it’s disrespectful. However, that works in our favor. Available with a big torque V8, but handicapped by its slush box automatic transmission, the SC400 and it’s 1UZ produce an engine note like no other and makes enough power to do just about whatever you would need the car to do. On the other hand, the SC300 is arguably one of the most versatile of the SC platform as it is powered by a 2JZ-GE inline 6 engine that’s begging for forced induction and features manual transmission options. Pair this with the leather interior, digital cluster, and menacing factory stance, you have a car that do VIP or Stance, Drag or Drift, and do it all very well. As for me, I can think of no better use for the budget Supra than holding angle in drift form. That’s why I’d do a body roll delete utilizing Revel Touring Sport Damper Coilovers, support a degree or two of positive rear camber with the Powerhouse Racing Adjustable Rear Control Arms, and keep it classy with he Revel Medallion Touring S Catback Exhaust System. And yes, I would definitely be running a Borg-Warner Pre-Catalytic Converter Muffler (Turbocharger).
1. 1992-2000 Honda Civic
I couldn’t think of a more controversial underrated number one than the 5th and 6th Generation Honda Civic. I know it’s hard to call something underrated when it has the distinction of being one of the most widely modified platforms in history, but hear me out. The late 80’s to 2000 was the Honda Civic’s golden era. Accompanied by the Acura Integra, once these cars hit the used market, the term Lego cars was coined and we began seeing swaps that utilize almost every letter of the alphabet. From B-Series to H2B to Frankenstein D’s to super uncommon ZC swap, you can put almost any Honda power plant in the EG and EK civics without much modification. You can even make them All-Wheel Drive with minimal effort. This and the classic look of the EG and EK Honda Civics, earn my top vote for most underrated Tuner Car. While I don’t have one myself, an EM1 with a H2B (H series Engine, B series transmission), a Garrett G-Series, and a Single Bride GIAS III KING pilot seat, propelled by all 4 wheels is what it would look like if I did. Now, obviously you disagree with me, but let me know what your most underrated JDM cars to modify are. Once you get it, hit us up at Vivid Racing so we can turn your underdog into top dog.
