I had formed some ignorant preconceived opinions about this man before I met him him person. I was reluctant to even talk to him when I did meet him, but I’m glad I did. He installed my Glock suppressor sights while we chatted for about half an hour. He’s an instructor as well as an LEO. He’s also a self proclaimed, “shit magnet” for the local violent and crazy criminals so it’s kinda funny he’s the one who took the guy down.
But it’s not unpredictable. I’d say for the officers in that department, Salazar puts more rounds down range training than any other guy. Like a lot of LEO’s he needs some physical conditioning work but the man is smooth as fuck with a pistol.
As a general rule I’m team ACAB, but I really like Salazar. He’s a real community guy. We even discussed things like whether or not the local cops would participate in gun confiscation, and some pretty spicy topics.
I was very put off by his LEO status at first and wasn’t going to sign up for his training classes. After talking to him my mind has been changed. He’s also helping with the lawsuit trying to defeat the Washington assault weapons ban through the Guardian Arms lawsuit.

Seattle's Music Scene: Concerts, Venues & Festivals
Seattle’s music scene is as rich and diverse as the city itself, offering something for every kind of music lover. From intimate venues tucked away in neighborhoods to large festivals that fill the streets with energy, Seattle is a great hub for live music. Whether you're a fan of indie rock, jazz, or electronic beats, there’s always something happening. Here are some must-visit spots and events to experience the best of Seattle's musical landscape.
The Crocodile – Where Legends Were Made
One of Seattle's most iconic venues, The Crocodile in Belltown has been at the heart of the city’s music scene since the early 1990s. It’s where Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and other grunge pioneers played their early gigs, and it continues to host top-notch acts from a variety of genres. The intimate space allows you to get up close to the action, making it a great place to discover both emerging artists and established acts.
Showbox at the Market & Showbox SoDo – A Seattle Staple
The Showbox at the Market is another historic venue that holds a special place in Seattle's musical heart. Located just steps from Pike Place Market, it offers a unique atmosphere where you can catch everything from rock and pop to hip hop and electronic music. Its rich history and perfect location make it a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Another venue with a similar name is Showbox SoDo. Located in Seattle's SoDo district, just south of downtown and near major sports venues like Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park. Known for its larger capacity, Showbox SoDo hosts a wide variety of concerts, from big-name national tours to local acts, spanning genres like rock, hip hop, electronic, and pop. I saw my first performance there this summer, and I would definitely check out a concert there if you can!
Capitol Hill Block Party – A Music Festival Like No Other
Held every summer in the heart of Capitol Hill, the Capitol Hill Block Party is a must-attend festival for anyone looking to experience Seattle’s thriving music scene. This three-day event features a lineup of indie, rock, hip hop, and electronic music, set against the backdrop of one of Seattle’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Beyond the music, the festival also celebrates Seattle’s art and food culture, making it an unforgettable weekend of creativity and fun.
Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) and Music
While primarily known for film, SIFF also celebrates the intersection of music and film. The festival often features live performances, concerts, and screenings that highlight the power of music in cinema. If you're in town during the festival, make sure to check out any music-themed events that could give you a unique perspective on the city's creative culture.
Bumbershoot – Seattle’s Premier Music and Arts Festival
Bumbershoot is one of Seattle’s longest-running festivals and an essential stop for music fans. Held every Labor Day weekend at Seattle Center, it brings together a diverse range of musical genres, from mainstream artists to hidden gems. The festival also celebrates arts, comedy, and theater, offering a full weekend of entertainment. Bumbershoot has something for everyone, whether you're into rock, hip hop, or something a bit more experimental.
The Gorge Amphitheatre - A Scenic Music Experience Like No Other
The Gorge Amphitheatre is a world-renowned outdoor venue located in George, Washington, along the Columbia River Gorge. Known for its stunning views and exceptional acoustics, it’s a bucket-list destination for music lovers. The venue hosts major festivals from country music, to EDM, offering a unique experience with its expansive lawn seating and breathtaking natural backdrop. Whether you're attending a festival or a single show, The Gorge provides an unforgettable live music experience.
