Hi, i know that not many people like it but.. i really like the fics like enemies to lovers, something with bullying and ect. I just enjoy sad stuff that as time goes on it gets better. Like with the bullying, one is bullied, the other saves the day. Enemies to lovers, they hurt each other at first but then they heal the wounds. Lol this was long. I'm asking for those kind of fics.. if you don't want to answer i completely understand! Have a great day!
oh darling. listen. you are NOT alone. you are not. i love these fics and so does @londonfoginacup! i sent a screenshot of this ask to a gc when you first sent it talking about how i felt bad i wasnât able to answer it right away, and emmu immediately said she could help. i didnât look up anything myself from this rec, these are all ones emmu sent and outside of the...three maybe?...that i havenât read, i cosign it! she even found some i read when i first joined the fandom and didnât have an ao3 to save them to OR i had an ao3 and didnât understand bookmarks yet. so basically, thank you for sending this, and here are the fics emmu recs and i say AMEN! i hope thereâs some in here that are what youâre looking for that possibly you havenât read yet.
they are kind of divided by enemies to lovers that ease into bullying fics as you go down the list, but to be honest iâm just sending them to you in the order that emmu sent them to me haha enjoy!!

Louis Tomlinson, in his third year at university, does not expect nor want the roommate that is being assigned to his room.
Harry Styles, in his first year at university, has just been kicked out of one dorm and doesn't want to deal with yet another snobby, rich roommate.
They don't get along, and that's just how it is, until circumstances force them to reevaluate.

âUm, okay,â Marcel said, sounding as reluctant as Louis and slightly miserable.
âIf- if you want to.â
âSure.â---Louis is the most popular guy in sixth form. Don't get the wrong idea, he's a good guy, and he absolutely won't stand for his friends teasing his neighbour, Marcel.

Itâs besides the point though, because Harry knows he canât allow himself to get close to any boys. He just canât and heâs told himself this multiple times. He has to simply stay away from Louis Tomlinson. But he canât. Harry Styles can never stay away from Louis Tomlinson. Itâs physically impossible for him to.
Love Is a Kitten from Hell by youbeyou
Louis Tomlinson passes himself off as an arrogant prick at his new school to hide the fact that he's terrified of being bullied again. Just when he's getting tired of putting up walls, he finds himself in a local pet shop where he finds a sanctuary playing with the kittens in the front window.
Harry Styles is the popular football player who works at the pet shop, secretly watching the boy he thought was utterly unlikable prove him wrong.
Partnered together for a class project, Harry gets more and more hints that Louis is actually someone worth getting to know. But the real question is, will Louis let Harry in?

Harry planned on going through high school under the radar, but that quickly changes when he bumps into Louis. Heâs clumsy with it, like walking around in a pair of shoes a size too big. His life is defined by uncertainty and tentativeness, and those are definitely not qualities alphas should have.
Sometimes, when Louis ponders it for too long, he thinks that maybe Harry resents being an A just as much as Louis resents being an O."

Louis is more than thrilled to have his own omega and once Harry goes into heat, he explores the boy with fascination and unintentionally impregnates him. Harry Styles may have had his doubts at first, but by the time the gates to the elephant sanctuary came into view he was one hundred percent positive. Louis Tomlinson hated his guts. Like hated, hated. Like loathed-him-on-sight hated.
From what Harry could tell, he hadnât even done anything close to insulting enough to warrant the disdain that was Louis Tomlinsonâs default expression whenever he looked at Harry. It really wasnât fair. Especially since heâd been lusting after the man from the second heâd laid eyes on that pretty, pretty face with those pretty, pretty eyes.

Louis stood next to the bed with a smug grin. In one hand he was holding an empty glass.
About thirty minutes later, Harry was parked outside the football pitch. Louis climbed out of the car, duffle bag slung over his shoulder.
He waved at Harry and blew him a kiss as he walked away. Harry flipped him off.
Or the one where Harry hates Louis, he's almost sure Louis hates him, and they live together. Driving him to football practice everyday is not apart of Harry's plans, but Louis is pretty adamant if it means annoying Harry.

Here's the Truth About Wood Veneers
When you learn that a piece of furniture has a veneer, does it make you cringe a little? Admittedly us, too. But wood veneers, in fact, are a traditional and structurally significant aspect of furniture-making that still come into play in contemporary design. Wood veneers have been used in furniture-making and millwork techniques for over 200 years, says interior designer Cate Caruso, of Studio C, who uses them for all kinds of high-quality custom furnishings. In woodworking, a veneer is actually a paper thin cut of wood that's applied to both sides of a strong core surface, like furniture-grade MDF or substrate material, to seal and stabilize itâwhich is critically important when you're fashioning built-in furniture or anything with a mechanism. The reason is simple: Solid wood expands and contracts as the temperature changes, and your apartment isn't temperature controlled no matter how powerful your A.C. unit is. A dining table, for instance, can be made from solid wood (and many are), but a wood piece with moving parts cannot. With kitchen cabinetry, drawers, and anything built-in or paneled, you really have to have veneers, Caruso explains. A solid piece of wood just isnât always structurally sound enough to fabricate a millwork.
What she is not using is fake wood. Oftentimes, when people see a veneered furnishing thatâs cheap, itâs actually not wood at allâitâs a laminate material, Caruso explains, putting a name to the faux surface that gave all veneers a bad rap somewhere along the line. (Those are made from plastic, paper, or even foil that's been printed with a wood grain pattern that often wears away at the edgesâa sure way to spot them.) But of course, there's also a range in quality of proper veneers depending on who makes them. All woodworking can be done well or it can be done poorlyâbut an expert millworker will make veneers look seamless, with perfect corners, Caruso says, which explains the misconception that a wood engineered veneer is cheap when itâs anything but.
Besides keeping a wood panel stable, veneers have other perks and purposes. They're considered an environmentally conscious option because you're maximizing that log in thin little sheets, Caruso says, and then the core is furniture grade MDF or substrate material. In extreme cases, they can even be cost-saving. Think about Brazilian rosewood, which is rare, endangered, very hard to get, and very expensive, says Patrick Muecke, Caruso's general contractor, who was a millworker for 15+ years before opening his own GC and management company. If you want to do a rosewood paneled room in solid wood, youâd have to be the Sultan of Brunei in order to afford it. The same would go for any project in an expensive wood; veneers would bring down the cost. Beyond millwork, natural bamboo veneers are also required for certain special techniques: Book-matched wood doors (or book-matched wood anything) would have to be fashioned using bamboo veneers because you'd never find wood planks with grains that perfectly matchâit's necessary instead to have a series of veneers cut from the same log. Then there are labor-intensive inlay arts like marquetry and parquetry, which require veneers cut to certain sizes and shapes that are then fit into the top of a structure. A far cry from laminate surfaces, right?
When youâre choosing your residence hall furniture and deciding on the specs, youâll inevitably choose what materials you want.
Should it be totally solid wood or a laminate variety?
If you choose to go with the latter, youâll have to answer another important question.
What kind of wood edge banding do you want?
For many people who are new to buying residence hall furniture, thatâs going to elicit some questioning faces.
Whatâs edge banding? Good question.
Or, if youâre a veteran, you already know how painful the wrong edge banding choice can be. That is to say, peeling, ongoing maintenance, and mounting work orders.
What Is Edge Banding?
So letâs start at the beginning. What is edge banding?
Itâs actually kind of simple, and the video below will help you understand it even better, but this is a simple overview to get you started.
Hereâs the basic non-technical idea.
Plywood, particle board, and other manufactured wood cores like MDF have rough, unfinished, unprotected, and generally unsightly edges.
To account for that, some clever folks developed technologies that allow you to glue different bands of glossy finished material to those rough edges to match the tops and sides.
Those narrow bands or strips are called edging tape, and they range in thickness from 0.018-inch to 5mm thick and in 250 ft rolls.
The thicker edging is used in high traffic and commercial environments because it provides greater resilience and impact resistance. For example, the military requires a thicker â
â solid wood edge banding for maximum impact resistance.
And edge banders are the industrial grade machines that apply the edging tape to the raw edges of the wood panels with a hot-melt adhesive or glue.
The Purpose of Edge Banding
Edge banding serves both functional and aesthetic purposes.
Functionally, edge bands perform some key duties for your furniture. First, it keeps moisture out serving as a de facto seal on the edge of the core material. Second, edge banding improves durability and resilience by providing impact resistance. If youâre using solid wood edging, it can also add to the overall strength of the furniture.
Aesthetically, edge banding covers up unsightly rough edges and creates a glossy finish to match your tops and sides. You can also create radial edges to soften sharp angles.
What Is Edge Banding Made From?
What are the edging tapes made from? There are different materials, and weâll just focus on a few here.
1. PVC is the most popular material for edge banding. Pros: Itâs inexpensive, durable, and boasts a long life. It doesnât require any finishing process. Itâs also easy, albeit tedious, to repair. Cons: You canât recycle it. It doesnât biodegrade. Once itâs blemished, you canât refinish it. (NB: ABSâAcrylonitrile Butadiene Styreneâis an eco friendly alternative to PVC because itâs both recyclable and safe to incinerate.)
When it comes to PVC, we recommend 3mm edging in general because it goes on cleaner, quicker, and with better adhesion. Another advantage is that you get a graceful radius and a nice soft-looking finish. In general, we avoid .5mm edging because the corners tend to be too sharp.
2. Solid Wood is still a favorite in many woodworking camps. Itâs durable, recyclable, easy to fix and refinish, strong, stiff, and economical. Benefits: is more resistant to chipping than veneer edge tape. Solid wood glues are more reliable and less prone to peeling than veneer and PVC. It provides additional dimensional support to plywood and mdf. Climate neutral manufacturing. Cons: Difficult to use for curves.
When it comes to solid wood we recommend 9.5mm on case good tops.
As we explain below, at DCI, we believe the best way to apply wood edge banding is âinternallyâ with a HPL top. Why? Because in our experience, itâs incredibly durable and never requires additional service.
Wood Veneer
3. Wood Veneer, including reconstituted veneer is another common edge banding material. Itâs made from thin slices of woodâtypically oak, maple, ash, walnut, birch, and mahoganyâthat are joined together in a roll using finger jointing. It usually features a heat-sensitive glue backing.
Pros: Itâs attractive, durable, and strong. It provides a clean solid-wood look, and itâs pre-sanded to easily absorb stains and finishes to seamlessly match your wood. Cons: Itâs not heat resistant. Avoid putting it near a heater. It doesnât do well in high-use environments.

Best garden shredder 2021: rid your yard of branches, twigs and leaves
With this yearâs dead bits hacked out, your garden is now trimmed and spruced in readiness for next spring. But whatâll you do with all those cuttings? Or perhaps you have a body to dispose of? Either way, thatâs where the best garden shredders come in.Â
To assist you, weâve called in cluster of well-received domestic models and put them through their paces using a variety of pruned vegetation. And itâs okay; we were joking about disposing of bodies. These domestic machines are nowhere near powerful enough for that.
You're reading: Best garden shredder 2021: rid your yard of branches, twigs and leaves
As we do when weâre rating any sort of garden tool or piece of machinery, such as the best pressure washers, best cordless lawn mowers or best garden tools, weâve also supplied some buying advice below on what you should be looking out for in a garden shredder. This will help you find the right product for your needs.
What is the best garden shredder?
All nine of the models tested are good machines but our top choice is the quiet and keenly-priced Cobra QS2500, a model that is very similar in both design and function to the doggedly determined Bosch AXT 25 TC but quite a bit cheaper.
If youâre on an even tighter budget, the Einhell GC-KS 2540Â is surprisingly effective even if it does scream like a banshee.Â
The petrol-powered Titan 15HP Petrol Chipper Shredder Mulcher, the mid-priced Bosch AXT RAPID 2200, the tall-standing Stihl GHE 355 and chunky Makita UD2500 all have their charms, too.
1. Cobra QS2500
The best garden shredder for value and performance
Specifications
Weight: 26.9kgs
Power source: Mains
Cutting capacity: 40mm
Collection box: 50 litres
Reasons to buy
+Great performance+Exceptionally quiet+Large collection box
Reasons to avoid
âDoesnât cut some larger branches all the way though
Straight to the one spot with a silver bullet, the Cobra QS2500 is our new favourite garden shredder for performance, low noise level and price. Similar in both design and function to our former number one, the popular Bosch AXT 25 TC, this shredder impresses in a number of ways but mostly price, which is way below that of the Bosch.
This writer has used the Cobra QS2500 on a number of occasions and it has excelled every time. On at least two occasions I fed it about 25 beech tree branches with full foliage one after another and it just kept on churning, crucially without making a racket in the process. This model accepts branches of up to 4cm in diameter but I just rammed in any size of branch that fitted the portal. At no time did I have to reach for the reverse button to free up a jam.
Being of the drum variety, the Cobra is exceptionally quiet in operation â in fact it makes less noise than a cordless lawnmower. Its drum simply churns continuously, chucking the remnants of bushes and trees into its ample 50-litre collection box.Â
Granted, the fully-leafed beech branches I tested it with remained in one mangled piece as opposed to being completely cut all the way through, but that didnât bother me because I wasnât considering using the mulched results as garden fertiliser. Instead I simply poured the contents into my garden-waste bin.
If youâre after a top-performing garden shredder that is almost as quiet as a field mouse while being relatively cheap to buy, then this one comes highly recommended.
2. Bosch AXT 25 TC
The best high-end garden shredder
Specifications
Weight: 30.5kgs
Power source: Mains
Cutting capacity: 45mm
Collection box: 53 litres
Reasons to buy
+Superbly efficient+Very quiet+Well designed
Reasons to avoid
âHeavy and ungainlyâNot cheap
Bosch shredders dominate the market and with good reason. Theyâre very well built, efficient and generally reliable. Rather like an enormous, masticating juicer, this quiet, electric-powered 2,500 watt turbine model uses a bladed drum that spins relatively slowly under massive torque, trapping, crushing and cutting branches up to 45mm in diameter against a solid plate.
This model handles both wood and leafy material as was amply demonstrated when I fed it half a fig tree, green fruit and all. It chopped and crushed the whole thing into tiny pieces and deposited them into the box below ready for easy disposal in the garden bin or compost heap â some shredding aficionados will even spread the nutritious remains over flowerbeds.
Rather considerately of Bosch, this heavyweight model comes ready-built with the wheels already attached, so all you need to do is clip in the top hopper, ensure the 53-litre collection box is properly engaged, switch it on and shred. The top of the chute has a wider access than others in this roundup and that makes it generally easier to stuff in branches of a more unwieldy nature, while the included tamper helps release mutinous vegetation.Â
Granted, itâs very top-heavy and quite tricky to move around the garden â the wheels arenât really wide enough apart â but at least it splits in two for easier storage.
If you have a mixture of both woody and leafy materials, this Bosch is your best bet. It justifies its slightly higher price by being extremely effective, easy to use and quiet enough to not disturb the neighbours.
To see how this shredder fares against a top rival product, then take a look at T3âs Bosch AXT 25 TC vs Einhell GH-KS 2440 comparison feature.

3. Einhell Electric Shredder GC-KS 2540
An efficient budget-priced option for seasonal use
Specifications
Weight: 13.5kgs
Motor: 2,500 W
Power source: Mains
Cutting capacity: 40mm
Collection box: No
Reasons to buy
+Good price+Surprisingly effective+Easy to manoeuvre
Reasons to avoid
âReally noisyâRequires some assembly
Youâre not going to get Bosch-like build quality at this price but what you will get is an extremely efficient multi-talented shredder that mulches both woody and leafy material in a thrice. Just be sure to keep tree branches below the 45mm maximum diameter and snip off any extraneous branches or they wonât fit through the feeder portal.
The 2,500-watt Einhell uses a pair of fast spinning blade to cut through vegetation but larger pieces of hardwood and too many leaves will likely block the chute which means reaching for the included tamper. Itâs quite a scary machine, mind, since it literally slices through cuttings and branches in quite a violent and exceedingly noisy manner (thank heavens the blades are well out of âarmâs way). Thankfully, a motor circuit breaker switch cuts in to protect it from overloading.
The Einhell performed surprisingly well when fed a pile of long, thick rose branches, chopping the whole lot up into small 5mm pieces with only the occasional hiccup. Although itâs equipped with a discharge funnel, you will need to place a sheet of tarpaulin or a large plastic trug (B&Q do an excellent range, btw) underneath the chute to catch all the clippings.
If you only do occasional pruning and donât require the brute force of a Bosch or Titan, then this is a good budget-priced starting point. Itâs light enough to easily wheel around the garden, small enough for shed storage and it performed better than some of the more expensive competition.
4. Bosch AXT Rapid 2200
Another, cheaper Bosch classic
Specifications
Weight: 12kgs
Power source: Mains
Cutting capacity: 40mm
Collection box: No
Reasons to buy
+Efficient chopper+Easy to manoeuvre
Reasons to avoid
âNo collection box
If you canât afford the all-conquering Bosch AXT 25 TC, give this cheaper but equally useful alternative a whirl. Itâs a lot more mobile for start though you will need a box, tarpaulin or garden trug (one of those handy round soft plastic garden tidies that garden centres sell) underneath it to collect the ejected detritus.
The Rapid 2200 uses tough laser-cut blades to slice through vegetation (preferably of the harder, drier variety) in a thrice. Itâll happily swallow branches up to 40mm in diameter though you may need to trim a few stems in order to feed those branches of a more ungainly persuasion into the hopper.
This model is quite reminiscent of the much cheaper B&Q model weâre quite smitten with above. But, given itâs a Bosch with a whopping 2200 watt motor attached, we (perhaps ill advisedly) assume it will last quite a bit longer. But donât take our word for it.
You can compare this garden shredder to the other top-rated Bosch unit in this guide in T3âs Bosch AXT 25 TC vs Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 comparison feature.

5. Ryobi RSH3045U 3000W Silent Impact Shredder
A powerful garden shredder with large collection bin
Specifications
Brand: Ryobi
Maximum power: 3000W
Container size: 55L
Power source: AC
Colour: Hyper Green
Reasons to buy
+Mid-tier price point+Big 3000W shredding power+Large 55L collection bin
Reasons to avoid
âNot a looker
This Amazon exclusive garden shredder offers big shredding power and a large collection bin. It does so, too, for a very firmly mid-tier price point as well, meaning it can be bagged for much less than some other premium models.
With 3000W of cutting power at your disposal with the Ryobi RSH3045U 3000W Silent Impact Shredder, youâve got enough grunt to go through all but the largest of garden detritus, with two reversible, hardened steel blades designed to shred branches, brambles, and shrubs to a fine mulch.
The mulch ends up in the collection bin, which as aforementioned is large, and there is a safety plunger that pushes any material fed into the machine into the its blades, thereby allowing the userâs fingers to stay well clear. A strong safety feature if ever we saw one.
The only real down side of this shredder is how it looks, which is not particularly premium, as too the fact that it certainly isnât âsilentâ. You wonât need ear defenders or anything, but including silent in the name is definitely a bit cheeky.
Overall, though, a garden shredder that delivers plenty of bang for you buck.

6. Stihl GHE 355
Great multi-functional model for all garden materials
Specifications
Weight: 30kgs
Power source: Mains
Cutting capacity: 35mm
Collection box: No
Reasons to buy
+Tackles both woody and leafy stuff+Stihl efficiency and build+Easy to move around
Reasons to avoid
âExtremely tallâNo chippings collection boxâMakes quite a racket
Got a garden with a mixture of hard-wooded trees, firs, shrubs and rubbery plants? Step tight this way because this tall-standing, multi-functional model does the lot by dint of a unique âblade rotation reversal systemâ that deals with both hard and soft materials.Â
For leaves, twigs and palm fronds, flick the switch on the front and shove some greenery into the large opening. The blades spin at high speed ripping everything to shreds. Likewise, when it comes to the harder stuff, turn the knob to the branch setting, feed in anything up to 35mm in diameter and out comes a pile of tiny wood chippings ready for the compost heap, the borders or the green wheelie bin.
This model doesnât come with a collection box though it does at least feature a guard hood. Iâd advise placing a garden tarpaulin underneath the exit chute so you donât end up with a garden full of chippings and mulched leaves.
The Stihl GHE 355 is an extremely efficient shredder-cum-chipper but it costs over ÂŁ100 more than the Bosch and, at 1.41 metres, is taller and a whole lot louder. But, hey, itâs a Stihl so you can safely expect it to shred till the cows come home.
7. Dirty Pro Tools Garden Shredder

âBlades blunt quickly
Dirty Pro Tools probably had a massive laugh after they came up with their name, but it is now dawning on them that they are stuck with it forever.
Never mind, their âdirtyâ garden shredder may or may not be âproâ but it is equipped with a powerful 2,500 watt engine that should be able to shred most things short of a crowbar.Â
Users queue up to applaud the way this cheap ânâ chunky chaff chewer gulps down branches up to 40cm in diameter and then farts them out into a large 50-litre box as little wooden chips.Â
Ironically, the more seemingly lightweight likes of leaves can cause it to choke, splutter and come to a halt, so stick to the heavy stuff. You can clear blockages easily enough by unscrewing a knob and gaining access to the blades. Iâd advise doing this with the machine switched off, but itâs a free country.Â
As is the case with most shredders, youâll save a lot of hassle by just getting the olâ leaf blower out, assembling them in a  neat pile, then bagging them up.
At this price youâre not going to be getting the best quality components and, sure enough, one common online complaint with this shredder is that its blades blunt quickly. On the other hand (which I thankfully still have), to get something that shreds as well as this for a shade over ÂŁ100 is quite a rare treat.
8. Makita UD2500
Keenly-priced shredder with collection box
Specifications
Weight: 27.6kgs
Power source: Mains
Cutting capacity: 45mm
Collection box: 67 litres
Reasons to buy
+Pleasingly quiet+Large collection box
Reasons to avoid
âStruggles with moist materialsâPretty damn heavy
This smart-looking electric model is about same size and weight as the Bosch and just as well built, though some assembly is required, including fitting the wheels.
However, it doesnât tackle as many different materials as the Bosch and struggles with anything that has high moisture content like large leaves and soft springy branches. In other words itâs best suited to harder woods and larger branches without too much greenery.
I fed it the same type of rose branches that the cheap B&Q model made such light work of and it jammed up a few times requiring me to hit the reverse button to free up some of the leafy congestion.
Also, it doesnât come with a tamper which would have felt somewhat safer than using a stick to coax in some of the more rebellious stuff. It eventually swallowed the lot but closer inspection of the huge 67-litre collection bin revealed that it had simply crushed rather than cut the branches. And that meant I wasnât able to spread the remnants over the flowerbeds.
However, it made a much better fist of dealing with a couple of 30mm hardwood branches â like the Bosch and B&Q, it accepts diameters of up to 45mm â once Iâd cut off a few gnarly twigs to get the branch through the small hopper opening.
It was pretty quiet, too, which seemed to please the neighbours.
The Makitaâs price falls somewhere between the Bosch and B&Q. Itâs a Which? Best Buy but it loses a bit of ground for me due to its relative lack of versatility.
9. Titan Pro 15HP Petrol Chipper Shredder Mulcher
Multi-talented, petrol-powered behemoth
Specifications
Weight: 103kgs
Power source: Petrol
Cutting capacity: 75mm
Collection box: No
Reasons to buy
+Chips large branches+Tackles most foliage+Lots of power
Reasons to avoid
âExpensiveâHuge and extremely heavyâEar-shatteringly noisy
An altogether more serious proposition, this costly, petrol-driven brute annihilates anything up to 75mm in diameter. Weâre talking proper tree branches here, the kind of stuff other domestic shredders fear.Â
If you own your own forest, or at least have a very large garden with loads of trees and shrubs, this could well be the shredder for you.Â
Just be sure youâre fit enough and have a decent sized outhouse or shed to store it in because, despite having wheels, the machine weighs 103kgs and the feed hopper is about head height. Also, it spits everything directly on to the ground so your best bet is to use a tarpaulin to collect all the chippings or youâll make a right old mess of the lawn.
The Titan comes with two main portals. The top chute accommodates leaves and twigs up to 10mm and uses a âflail armâ system to mulch them into tiny fragments.Â
Look to the side and thereâs a circular portal for branches up to 75mm diameter: simply shove in a branch and out comes a pile of wood chippings of near sawdust consistency. Unfortunately, the side chute only accepts straight branches so some sawing will inevitably be required.
The downside to all this is that the Titan is huge, heavy, ugly and noisy and it uses an electric-start 15hp four-stroke engine that will, at times, require some TLC. If you can stand the racket â and your closest neighbours are either a long way away, or profoundly deaf â then this beaver of the shredding community is right up your garden path.
How to buy the best garden shredder for youÂ
Itâs one thing hacking away at your overgrown hedges, trees and shrubbery but another when youâre then faced with an unwieldy pile of branches, twigs, leaves and other garden detritus that somehow needs to be disposed of. You could spend ages snipping all the twigs and branches to a manageable size for disposal in the green waste bin or at your local council dump. Or you could invest in the best garden shredder.Â
Letâs cut to the chase. These domestic shredders arenât like those machines the council uses when pruning trees in the street, or like the one Peter Stormare feeds Steve Buscemi into in that memorable scene from Fargo.Â
Most of the models here wonât handle anything thicker than 45mm in diameter so you can forget stuffing in a tree trunk. You will also need to snip off stiff twigs and large stubby bits or the branch simply wonât fit through the hopperâs opening slot.Â
Think hard about whether you really need a shredder in the first place and whether you have room. Many people will likely only use it once a year and the rest of the time youâll need somewhere to store it.
There are two main types of shredder: impact and drum. Impact shredders use sharp, fast-spinning blades to cut into garden waste and can process a wider variety of materials, including most hard wood branches and fresh, moist cuttings and leaves. However, they are extremely noisy and their blades will eventually blunt if used excessively. They can also jam up if asked to process too much at a time.
Drum (or quiet) shredders tend to crush the material using a slow rotating, bladed wheel that traps plant matter against a solid plate before cutting it into little pieces. Drum shredders make far less noise but arenât considered as effective at dealing with leafy materials.
Most shredders are equipped with a reverse switch to release trapped vegetation (it happens a lot) and some are equipped with a handy tamper to help force undisciplined branches into the portal of death.Â
Be careful how you insert branches as they jiggle about violently while theyâre being swallowed. If itâs a thorn-covered branch and youâre holding on to it, lacerations are a real risk. Youâre advised to wear gloves and goggles or sunglasses. A stylish, hi-viz jacket is optional.
These are the best pizza ovens

Quality Control in Pharmaceutical Industry| What is Role of QC in Pharma Company
The Quality Control department major important role participates in the Pharmaceutical industry.
The main role of the Quality control department in the Pharma industry is to check the quality of the various products like raw materials, Inprocess samples and Finish products.
Their main agenda to analyse and control the quality of the products at all stages of the manufacturing of API or Drug Products.
In QC done by the Qualitative and Quantitative analysis of specific materials as per Stanard Testing Procedures(STP) or Method of Analysis.
Generally, the QC department divided into four sections. These are
Raw materials
In-process
Finished products
Stability studies
Raw materials:
The materials come from outside industries or suppliers and road tankers to check the quality of the materials as per in-house specifications or Standard testing procedures. These are categories into four parts.
General Raw materials:
These are some chemical analyses like titrimetry and chemical methods of analysis like organic and inorganic acids, bases, salts, etc⊠Ex: Hydrochloric acid(HCl), Sulphuric acid(H2SO4), Nitric acid(HNO3), Caustic soda(NaOH), Sodium carbonate(Na2CO3), Methanol, Toluene, Acetone, Dichloromethane etcâŠ
Key Starting materials:
These are building blocks of drug intermediates or used for the structure formation of compounds or API or Drug substances. The sampling method is different from general raw materials. These are analyzed of both chemical and instrumental analysis. Ex: Fine Chemicals, Drug Intermediates
Packing materials:
These are used for Products/Compounds materials is stored Ex: Fibre drums, HDPE, LDPE drums, Polyethelene bags, etcâŠ
Hazardous materials:
These are harmful or affect on body raw materials to handling in careful safety precautions and as per its Material Safety Data Sheets(MSDS) so vendors or suppliers give a certificate of analysis based on these are approved as per customer COAs. Ex: Sodium Hydride(NaH), Sodium Amide(NaNH2),Sodium Cyanide(NaCN),Vitride etc⊠Some catalysts are also approved as per customer COAs Ex: Raney-Nikel, Palladium/carbon(Pd/C) used for Hydrogenation reaction.
In-Process samples:
online chemical and instrumental methods analysis as per in-house specification & STPs carried out samples coming from the manufacturing blocks or production department to time to gives results after the process continuously.
Finished Products:
Completly analysis carried out as per customer or In-house or Pharmacopia specification and Standard Testing Procedures of the final products. The analysis carried out in the Quality control department divided into two parts.Â
1.Chemical analysis or Wet analysis Laboratory
Volumetric analysis:
These are five types of titrations
Acid-Base Titration Ex: Hydrochloric acid(HCl), Sodium Hydroxide(NaOH)
Argentometric titration Ex: Sodium Chloride(NaCl), Aluminum chloride(AlCl3)
Redox Titration Ex: Sodium thiosulphate, Potassium permanganate
Complexometric titration Ex: Calcium chloride(Cacl2), Magnesium (Mg)Metal
Non-aqueous titration for Drug intermediates and APIs Ex: 2-Amino Pyridine, Isonipotic acid etc..
Gravimetric analysis:
Gravimetric analysis is the mass of an ion in a compound and determined to find out the mass per cent of the same ion in a known quantity of a compound.
Ex: 1) The amount of sulphate as barium sulphate(BaSO4) from sodium sulphate(NaSO4).
2) Content of Nickle in Raney-Nickle catalyst and Palladium in Pd/C catalyst.
Wet laboratory, some important chemical analysis followed that are
Ex: Water content(WC), Loss on drying(LOD), Residue on ignition(ROI), Specific Optical Rotation(SOR), Wt per mL, Thin Layer Chromatography(TLC) etc..
Water Analysis:
Softener water: this water used for boiler purpose to generate steam. Demineralized or Deionised water: This water used for chemical analysis and process Purified water: This water used for the process Three samples are collected to analyse to their specification and Standard testing procedures as per scheduled
2.Instrumental methods of Chemical analysis
Instrumental analysis to analyse quantitative and qualitative investigates analytes using the help of scientific instruments. There is main two instrumental analysis carried out of Quality Control in Pharmaceutical industries.
1) Chromatography:
This technique separates and identifies the mixture of the compounds based on their relative affinity amounts of each compound distributed between a moving mobile phase, and stationary phase. Mostly used instruments of Quality Control in the Pharmaceutical industry 1) High-Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC) 2) Gas Chromatography(GC)
2) Spectrophotometry:
Spectroscopic techniques are to pass a beam of electromagnetic radiation onto an unknown sample, observes to find out the difference between energy levels with reference. Most commonly used spectrophotometers of Quality Control in the Pharmaceutical industry. There are 1) Ultra-Violet Spectrophotometer(UVS) 2)Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR) 3) Atomic Absorbtion Spectrometer(AAS)
These are main used Research development for Analytical development departments 1) Nuclear Magnetic resonance Spectrometer(NMR) 2) Mass Spectrometer(MS)
Stability Studies:
Stability studies conduct for a re-test or expiry or a shelf life period for the drug substance or the drug product and recommended storage conditions. These are analysed as per protocol or stability STP based on schedule 1)Holdtime stability studies 2)Long-term, Accelerated, intermediate condition stability studies
Quality Control department follows Proper online documentation, Logbooks, Registers, Good Laboratory Practice(GLP) and Good Documentation Practices.
After complete analysis, documented respective analysis signed and checked authorised persons to prepare the certificate of analysis approved by Head of the department or Manager.

Maintaining and Restoring Acrylic Sheet
Acrylic is a transparent plastic used on a wide scale due to its ability to replace glass. It is usually available as acrylic cut to size that is converted into useful products such as sales displays, lenses, protective screens, roofing, windows, TV screen protectors, and many others.
But what makes products such as clear Perspex sheet cut to size the favourite of manufacturing businesses all over the world? The secret lies in the unique properties of this thermoplastic:
- Excellent optical clarity;
- Light transmission that is superior to the one of glass;
- Rigidity and good impact strength; if it breaks, acrylic forms dull pieces unlike glass which shatters into hundreds of sharp and dangerous little shards;
- Being easy to process and model due to excellent dimensional stability and low mould shrinkage;
- Can be sawed and cut using tools similar to those used for wood;
- Has a greater transparency than that of glass and will not present a greenish tint when moulded into thick sheets.
These properties make acrylic and its derived products, like Perspex sheet cut to size, suitable for a variety of uses and applications, such as:
- Furniture such as cabinets and coffee tables;
- Sporting equipment;
-Â Aquariums;
-Â Artistic sculpting;
-Â Protection screens used in sports;
-Â Sneeze screens that have become increasingly widely used since the Covid-19 pandemic to reduce the spread of the virus.
How to protect and prevent damage
Products and objects made from acrylic can last for years, even decades if you follow some simple protection rules in order to prevent damage, especially when working with acrylic in the creation of other products:
- When storing products such as acrylic sheet cut to size, it is recommended to protect them with polyethylene film overwrap to keep dirt and moisture away. Sheets must be stored vertically or in special racks leaning at an angle of approximately 10Âș. Plywood panels should be used to provide full support to the material. When acrylic sheets are stored horizontally, they must not be allowed to sag.
- Perspex sheets cut to size are usually delivered with sheet masking; this protection layer should be left on the product to protect the sheet surface. However, if you need to remove masking for detail work, bending, or thermoforming, store the unmasked sheets in the original shipping cartons and avoid unnecessary handling of unmasked sheet;
- Wear rubber gloves when handling acrylic and manipulate it by its edges;
- Neutralise static electricity which can form especially on new Perspex sheet cut to size; static electricity will attract dust, chips, and other small particles floating in the air and will ultimately contaminate the surface. Use an ionising air gun to temporarily eliminate static charges before any operations such as bending, painting, or thermoforming.
How to maintain and clean
The quality of a product comes out as high or low once you start using it. Â High-quality Perspex cut to size will require little maintenance, but when you need to clean your acrylic products, it is important that you follow some simple rules to keep the surface intact and increase the lifespan:
- Start cleaning acrylic by dusting; this operation will remove particles that can scratch the acrylic if you start washing the material right away. Â Use a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and avoid dry or gritty cloths that can create static electric charge and cause scratches.
- Wash acrylic sheets with a solution of mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water. Apply light pressure using a clean, soft cloth.
- If you need to remove oil, grease, or tar, use solutions such as kerosene, hexane, or aliphatic naphtha;
- Never use the following solutions on your acrylic objects: window cleaning sprays, acetone, gasoline, benzene, lacquer thinner, alcohol, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride. These can damage the surface of the acrylic sheet or weaken the sheet by causing small surface cracks.
How to repair or restore damaged/scratched acrylic
If your Perspex or acrylic surfaces are looking a little worn make sure you are paying attention. Follow these 4 simple points to learn how to improve the look of your acrylic surfaces, acrylic sheets or other acrylic products (also commonly known as Plexiglass or Perspex):
1. Make sure the plastic really is acrylic
A clear plastic may not always be made from acrylic; instead it might be a polycarbonate. If the plastic is polycarbonate, it is will no longer possible to remove the scratches.
2. Remove light scratches from acrylic
You will need acrylic polish, preferably specialist acrylic scratch remover that is designed for industrial use, and grit sandpaper, 800 and 1200 grit. Wet the 800-grit sandpaper and run it over the scratch in a circular motion. Repeat with dry grit paper, and alternate between wet and dry sandpaper. It is normal for your acrylic at this stage to look frosty and to display little scratch marks on it. Â Next move onto 1200 grit sandpaper and keep rubbing until all scratches have been removed. Finally, dry the area with a soft, dry cotton cloth and apply acrylic polish. The acrylic will look as if it has never been scratched.
3. Remove deeper scratches
Deeper scratches can require a little more effort to remove, but you can still restore your acrylic sheet to an optimal condition. The method is similar to the previous one, with the difference that you need to start with 600 grit sandpaper and afterwards continue with the same process as described above.
4. Polish acrylic to restore its glossy look
Flame polishing is a great way of obtaining the smooth, glossy edges that we all like to see in acrylic cut to size. In order to complete this process, you will need a hydrogen-oxygen torch with a number 4 or 5 tip. Guide the flame over the acrylic edges, but do this very carefully as moving too slowly or too closely to the acrylic will damage it and bubbles will begin to appear in the plastic sheet. Overheating the acrylic can also make it melt, and going too fast can produce a matte aspect from the edges.

Thursday, 10th of november 2005
awoke in my hotel bed. I opened the window... Seoul stretched out before me.
It looks like we'll have good weather today too.
Yesterday's weather report forecasted cold temperatures, but it feels much nicer than expected. Korea's weather gave us a break, at least for now.
From my window I looked down to the ground. I saw that the hotel had frozen its swimming pool for use as an ice-skating rink during winter. It's only November, so they're still preparing it. A large white sheet covered the surface.
I had stayed in this very hotel when I visited back in February. I remember that I had looked through my window and had seen the same scenery. Perhaps I'm staying on the same floor now as I had then... perhaps I'm even in the same room.
The skating rink had been illuminated from beneath the ice's surface when I had been here before. The frozen glow had been powerfully atmospheric. I had wanted to skate so badly, I almost couldn't stand it. The whole scene had radiated a joyous ambience, kind of like Disney's ice show.
You don't get many chances to skate outdoors in Tokyo. I had hoped that I could skate while I am here, but I'm simply too pressed for time.
"I'll ice-skate for sure this time!" I had even brought a pair of brand new gloves. I'll have to postpone skating once again though. The rink hasn't even opened yet. I'll try again next time.
I left my room to eat the hotel's breakfast. On my way I passed some members of our preparation team who were heading to the G-STAR site.
We arrived late because we had run into a traffic jam on our way to KINTEX.
A group of able-bodied men surrounded me the second that I stepped from the car. The bodyguards escorted me into the building.
The show would start at 10 A.M., so I double-checked the stage and our booth. I mounted the MGS stage and lightly rehearsed. I tested the microphone with our interpreter and our emcee. I sat in a chair and déjà vu hit me! It was TGS all over again!
I proceeded to check the video and sound setups for MGS4's presentation in the SCE booth's next-gen theater. I returned to Konami's booth and slipped into the backroom.
Our bodyguards follow us everywhere. They stick beside us even if we only walk a few feet. They hold posts at the backroom entrance all the time. They even guard me in the bathroom. I know that these guys are paid for it, but I really appreciate how far they go for us.
U.S. and European fans are much more intense than the Japanese. I always make sure that I have bodyguard escorts during each event and autograph session. I've never had this many at once though... three to six of them surround me at any given moment.
I considered checking more of the expo site, but I didn't have enough time. In addition, it wasn't easy to move quickly from place to place. I am so well protected here that I'm like Vic Viper with Option and Force Field defenses activated.
Meanwhile, Korea's first game expo finally opened. Korean companies furnish most of the booths. They all look great. Korea is an impressive force in the gaming industry.
Korea could outrun Japan in the gaming industry at this rate. Asian booths had challenged Japanese booths at TGS, and Japan has already been beaten at E3. Korean booths naturally hold center-stage on their home turf.
On another note... I hadn't noticed that Korean women are so tall! They have gorgeous legs!
The grand opening was so slow compared to my experiences with other game expos. I'm accustomed to the usual rush of visitors at TGS and GC. G-STAR's visitors entered slowly and hesitantly. I heard that the expo hadn't opened until the very last second.
I rehearsed one last time in the backroom with both our interpreter and MC.
Afterwards I ate some lunch. We had sushi bento, Korea's specialty Kimpa (Makizuishi), and my favorite Sin Ramyun (hot ramen). Even Shin-chan tried Sin-chan! It was like a picnic!
I asked our interpreter to listen to my introductory speech. I had practiced it in Korean. I wanted to include the line from Sympathy for Lady Vengeance that I learned yesterday, but I ultimately decided against it. I foresaw too much room for misunderstanding among those who hadn't seen the movie.
She told me that I could say it if an interviewer asks about Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. I still received concerned looks whenever I said it. They'd always ask, "Where did you learn that expression?"
I told them that I had learned it from Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, and they smiled and said, "Oh, I see!"
A large banner hung in the conference hall reserved for the press meeting just outside the main expo grounds. It read "HIDEO KOJIMA."
We have the same interpreter now who had worked with us in February. She does excellent work, so she easily translated my long and complex Japanese.
I mounted the MGS stage at 2 P.M.
I'm thankful that everything was a huge success.
The Korean fans were truly enthusiastic! They were almost as intense as the European MGS fans.
I wound up making a slight mistake with my Korean toward the end of my memorized greeting. Also, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance never came up during the Q&A... I didn't get to say "Neo na jal haseyo" after all.
An autograph session followed the Q&A. We required that all participants have reserved their autographs online, so everything went smoothly.
I was asked to autograph a variety of things. I wonder... did they find them all online? Some people brought limited editions of Japanese items. A few people even brought copies of the MSX2 Metal Gear and Policenauts for the NEC PC-9821. People also brought hardware for me to autograph, such as PS2s, Nintendo DSs, and PSPs.
Several Korean fans actually spoke strong Japanese. They must play their games in Japanese too.
Mr. Sang Young Lee from Phantagram visited me in the backroom early in the evening. We had last seen each other around six months prior. We had missed each other at TGS because we had been so busy. We conversed for about an hour. He seemed as though he's been busy with Ninety Nine Nights.
G-STAR's first day ended at 5 P.M.
Folks from the MGS community had come to help us for one of our events. I thanked them for volunteering to test MGO.
Young, enthusiastic, grateful fans had responded to an internet advertisement distributed by UNIANA. They know as much about MGS as we do, and they love it equally too. They played MGO just as well as KojiPro's staff.
The language barrier tumbled down today and MGS became our common tongue. I would never have expected this at TGS... I'm thankful to share this sort of relationship with my fans. Everyone onstage gathered for a group photo.
We gave them MGS-related souvenirs to express our gratitude. By then the backroom had become another autograph room.
Thank you everyone, and please help us again tomorrow!
I went to a party that evening set up by G-STAR. I saw Mr. Inaba from Clover Studios there.
I left the party and joined some KojiPro staff at a barbecue restaurant for dinner.
Kanpai! Three cheers for G-STAR's first day! This will change Korea's future. I appreciate everyone's work.
Shin-chan and I explained, "We're looking for an out-of-the-ordinary style of leather jacket." We were directed to Tondaemun Market and Namdaemun Market, so we headed there with some others after dinner. We heard that those markets feature wholesalers with really competitive prices. Their reputation has even spread to Japan.
We first headed to Tondaemun Market. The place was so animated! Crowds were everywhere! The hour was so late that I could hardly believe it was real.
I heard that everything here stays open until 5 A.M., so it was still too early to see business in full swing. The real thing hadn't even started yet.
Tondaemun is really outrageous!
We started shopping in the doota building. Many similar looking shops were squeezed beside each other inside. The bustle there was similar to what you'd expect at a department store at midday.
I got a greater shock when I exited the building. Crowds flowed all around me outside. More people seemed to come in cars. It was just before midnight. These downtown streets seem really family-friendly, unlike Shibuya or Shinjuku in Tokyo.
We descended the underground passage leading to stores that specialize in leather and furs. Vendors barked at us on the way down.
"Get your quality knock-offs here!"
"Phantom watches! Phantom watches for sale!"
We apparently couldn't hide the fact that we're Japanese. Was it our clothes? Our group's hairstyle and make-up? However they could tell, they addressed us in Japanese everywhere we went.
"Miss! I can speak Japanese!"
"Oohaa, it's so delicious!" Oohaa? What outdated slang!
We ascended the stairs to street level and arrived at the Pyonfa Market.
"Wow! This is just like Blade Runner! Amazing!"
Food and merchandise sellers' stalls filled the narrow alleys. It looked like it had been packed beyond capacity. This place must feel like a festival every day. It's as vibrant and populated as the New Year's Eve celebrations at the shrines in Japan.
We could buy a slew of different foods here, from Tchigae to Oden. They sold more than just food though. Bags, clothing, and all sorts of items sat on display in storefronts. There was even a shop selling only Bae Yong Joon's brand of socks.
Such life and animation! Even the boardwalk stalls got a lot of customers. Families strode through the streets alongside unchaperoned youths. Such energy! I don't understand why I didn't see any drunks on the street. Just being there invigorated me. The downtown streets never sleep.
I noticed several micro-busses parked on the street. They looked like sight-seeing buses. Were tourists out at that hour?
I thought about this, and then I saw many old women with serious facial expressions--they looked so severe. They carried several large plastic sacks on their backs. I also saw a lot of stuff piled on the street.
Our guide explained to me that the women had come from the rural provinces. They regularly gather a group of people from their provincial towns, rent micro-buses, and shop here. They arrive very early in the morning and shop until the following day. Then they return to their hometowns and sell everything that they bought.
The old women began their serious shopping at the hour I saw them. How colorful!
We ate oden at one of the stalls.
I have wanted to eat oden in Korea ever since I saw Jeon Ji-Hyun eating it in the movie Windstruck.
They offered many different types of oden in shapes made from minced fish. Some were round while others were thin boards. I heard that the seasoning can differ, but it's all still oden. The boardwalk shop also provided skewers.
I decided to try the oden that looked like Japanese Chikuwa. I added some sauce using a brush that they provided. It tasted like Gobo tempura, sans the Gobo.
It was warm and tasty.
While I ate, people flocked to the stall from out of nowhere. Without so much as a greeting, they took oden from the stall. No one spoke a word... they just ate.
We paid for our food after telling the stall clerk what we had eaten. For some reason, I saw more female customers than male. They ate pretty quickly considering the eating method. To drink the soup, you're supposed to ladle it into a paper cup and then drink directly from the cup.
The soup tasted great too.
If you don't want to finish the soup, then you can simply splash it onto the street. You should put the paper cup in a trashcan though. Everything there was self-service.
We finished and then took a car to Namdaemun Market.
We arrived a little too early for the evening boom again. Half of the shops weren't open yet. I felt a strange sense of familiarity as I walked the streets... aha! The place resembled Ameyoko in Ueno.
Someone suddenly addressed us in Japanese.
"Hey buddy--got some leather jackets here."
Unfortunately we didn't see anything that we wanted. We didn't get what we set out to buy, but we got a lot of other stuff anyway.
I feel as though we bought a slice of Seoul's energy itself. I really enjoyed this. I'll definitely return... and maybe then I'll stay until 5 A.M.
You know, those phantom watches still intrigue me... I wonder what they look like....
