Big, Ugly SOB

Warning: typical Walking Dead themes, smut, probably other stuff, be advised.

Part One!

She grabs her pistol and heads out the door of the small shed and does a perimeter sweep before shutting the door. With a deep breath, she starts towards the high ridge. Heaving a sigh, she turns around and writes a note for anyone who may find her.

‘Headed to the ridge. Higher vantage point. Curious about Atlanta but not sure I’ll go.

If you need supplies there’s a day’s worth of jerky and some supplies in here.

Best of Luck’

She truly hoped that she’d find someone she knew. As a patrol officer of King County, she hadn’t run into a single other officer that she knew. Though, she didn’t take the main roads, as she knew the cost.

Hiking up the ridge through the woods, she hears soft talking and the voice strikes her deep in her soul. She knows that voice. The deep southern voice talking low just out of eyesight.

“Excuse me? I don’t mean to alarm you but I’m just looking to join a group--You are one big, ugly, dumb son-of-a-bitch.” There was the owner of the voice. Snorting, she quickly covers her mouth as she sinks to the ground cackling under her hands. Shane’s eyes glance to the old man next to him and back to her as she sits on the ground staring at him with a look of wonder as tears roll down her face.

“Officer Duke?” He hushes as a grin sweeps across his face. Pushing passed the old man, he grabs her hands and pulls her to her feet.

“It’s Lottie. C’mon Walsh.” She chuckles, reaching out and pulling him into a warm embrace.

“It’s Shane, silly gal. I can’t believe it. Look at you. Ugly and big, yes baby girl that’s me.” He croons, holding her arms out wide to look her over. Shaking his head with a chuckle, he turns to the old man and waves him over. “This is Lottie. She was one of the Sheriff’s Deputies like me. Lottie, this is Dale. Dale, Charlotte. C’mon Duke, this way.” He crows, hooking arms with her and dragging her along. As they break into a small clearing, she finds aa small group of people, including Lori and Carl.

“Hey, where’s Rick?” She asks, looking to Shane. His face sombers and he waves her to him.

“He’s gone.” He whispers, looking at Lori with a longing she could only describe as a silent plea of a lover. With a single blink the look is vanished from his face and he pats Lottie on the head. “Come say hi.”

“Lori, Carl, you two look so tired.” She coos as Lori’s face lights up. A blonde across the way eyes her with a disapproving look, but a younger blonde bounds up to Lottie with a grin and a hand shoved out to greet her.

“Hi, I’m Amy. The crabby one is my sister Andrea. That’s Carol and Sophia, Ed’s away in the tent. He’s not much fun. That one is Daryl, he’s a loner. And that’s T-Dog.” In order, Lottie’s eyes meet every face she’s introduced to, and most stick out a hand. Except for the crossbow weilding man, Daryl, she nods confidently to herself.

“I’m Lottie.” She waves, ducking over to Shane and hides behind him.

“Darlin’ I’m gonna head over here and get some water. Find yerself somethin’ to eat and get comfy. You can share my tent. Go get situated. Lori’ll get you acquainted around.” He waves Lori over and Lottie watches the exchange with wide eyes as Shane’s drink in Rick’s wife.

“Thanks Walsh.” She smiles awkwardly before disappearing into Shane’s tent. Spending her first day in the tent with Walsh, she puts her bags in the corner and rolls out her makeshift blanket, made of a couple sweatshirts and tee shirts she had found. Shane steps into the tent and sees her sitting in the corner and his eyes drift to the less than adequate bedding and he frowns.

“Hey, tell you what. I’ll take first shift on watch tonight and you can sleep in my sleeping bag, on the foam pad. It’s better than the rocky ground, Duke.” He holds up a hand to silence her and she feels her face heat up.

“Jesus Christ, I can’t do that--”

“I wasn’t asking. I’m telling you. I’m on watch first tonight, so you have to keep my sleeping bag warm. If not, I’ll--”

“Have Lori do it?” She whispers, and sees it strike a nerve on Shane’s face.

“You shut your mouth about that. Okay? Ain’t nothin’ goin’ on.” He barks, jamming a sturdy finger into her chest plate.

“Sure. I’d be that mad if there was nothing going on too. Rick’s dead, Walsh. Ain’t no shame in keepin’ his wife and son safe. You done good so far.” She assures, laying on her blanket and curling up against her bag.

“Hey baby girl. I said-” he leans down and hoists her up, putting her on his sleeping bag. “-to use this damn thing.” He croons, giving her head a soft pat before taking his gun and stepping out of the tent.

Morning comes and she slips from Shane’s tent and out into the daylight. For only a second, it almost felt like the summer you went camping with the boys on the lake three years ago. Carl was too little so Lori had stayed home and it had just been Lottie, Rick, Shane, and Leon Basset, another man she hadn’t seen since the world ended.

“Mornin’ babygirl.” He croons, patting her shoulder as she walks up to the group of people sitting in chairs in a circle, finding a seat next to her and Lori.

“Mornin’ ugly.” She groans, pushing his hand up her shoulder to her neck where the kink is. Softly, he rubs the knot from her neck without a word.

“Darlin’ get you somethin’ to eat. Lori, can you grab her a plate?” He croons, patting Lori’s knee. She gives Lottie a half-assed mad look before rising and grabbing a plate with eggs and toast. Placing it into Lottie’s lap, cshe huffs under her breath, mumbling something.

“I’m sorry, what?” Lottie asks, looking at Lori.

“Not a damn thing.” She barks, giving Shane a dark look before heading into her own tent a little ways away.

“Yo, Duke. Over here. You take watch up top, I’ll be out and about. You see walkers, more than two, you give me or Daryl a heads up. Okay? And if you see more than that, give us more than a heads up. Okay?” He briefs her like they’re back on the force before leading her up to the look out atop the RV.

“Okay, I’ll holler if I see a bunch. Is someone supposed to take over for me later?” She asks as Shane hands over the binoculars.

“Yeah, couple hours Daryl will be up. Glenn and a few others went on a raid this morning, so when they get back they’ll do a round of watch. When your watch is over come find me.” He disappears down the ladder and she watches through Shane’s binoculars as Shane himself and Lori slip away into the woods out of the line of sight.

Once they reappear, Lori’s clothes are disheveled and Shane’s licking his lips with a prideful smirk on his full lips. Sucking in a breath, Lottie watches a moment longer as Shane takes a moment to tuck his shirt back in and lick his lips once more. Reaching up, his fingers sift through his jet black, fluffy curls and gives Lori--what he thought was-- a sneaky wink. Lottie watches the horizon and sees a white refrigerator truck barreling towards their camp and a red Charger wailing through the quarry, echoing off the walls. First the car comes to a stop and Shane charges them, yanking the relay out that belongs to the horn. Glenn steps out, jittery with excitement.

“You guys, this new guy absolutely saved our asses.”

“Glenn this group is big enough. Quit taking in strays.” Shane hushes.

“But your girlfriend isn’t one? Sorry, listen man. This guy was awesome, some kind of police uniform, not sure. One second,” the small Asian man sprints to the truck and when the binoculars land on the driver, she nearly falls off the RV.

“Holy shit.” She whispers, losing her footing a second time and tumbling over the edge. As she lands on the ground next to Dale, Shane’s eyes drop to her and he lands in the dirt next to her.

“Damn darlin’. New guy that hot?” He chuckles, helping her to her feet and dusting her off. With a quick once over, he finds nothing broken or busted, so he proceeds out to greet the new guy but stops dead in his tracks. Rick. Holy shit.

“Lori? Carl!” He shouts, falling to his knees as he hugs his family. Her eyes land on Shane in utter shock and he just releases the breath he’d been holding. “Duke. Shane.” He drags the two officers into a warm hug and she and Shane reciprocate.

As night falls, she steps into the tent with Shane’s sleeping form and carefully steps over him. Laying down on her blanket, she hears some rustling around behind them, but she goes to sleep. Rolling over, she finds an empty space where Shane was. More rustling. A groan. In her groggy sleep, she ignores the sounds outside and grabs Shane’s pillow.

“Shane?” She asks, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Standing and stepping out the tent, she stretches backwards and is grabbed from behind. “Walsh, knock it off-oh shit.” She gives a whine and tries to run away. The walker tries to bite at her ankles, grabbing her pant legs. “Shane! Shane!” She screams , grabbing for anything on the ground to stab the ugly monster, but she grabs for the only thing near her. A stick. Kicking with her foot and knocking the diseased thing off her, she stabs a stick through his leg. Skittering to her feet she backs into something behind her. Another walker grabs her and she shrieks, this time Shane twists around and fires a rifle into her shoulder, killing the walker. He grabs her up and hoists her over a shoulder.

“Did it bite you? Baby girl?” His shouts become foggy and distant as she floats into unconsciousness. “No! C’mon darlin’. Rick! Rick come over here! Someone please!” His desperate cries echo through the camp as Carol grabs Lottie and carries her to the RV.

“Check for bites first.” Dale barks, jabbing at Lottie with the barrel of his gun.

Early morning rises and she whispers to Shane, who’s sitting next to her, his hand on her arm and head on his arms.

“Shane, Walsh.” He jerks awake and stands erect.

“Mornin’.” He whispers, starting for the door.

“Where you going?” She asks, giving him a soft smile.

“I was just checking on you. I gotta tell the others you’re awake.” He gruffs, heading back to the door.

“Shane.” He stops again, searching her face for something. He walks back to her and leans down, taking her hand into his. “I saw you sleeping.” She whispers, gripping his hand.

“Ya, so I fell asleep there. What of it?” He barks, shifting from foot to foot.

“You were worried, weren’t you?” She coos, smirking at him.

“No. I knew you’d be fine.” He assures, patting her hand.

“Really? That doesn’t really seem accurate, Walsh.”

“Leave it alone.” He grumbles, thumping lightly down the stairs and out the door.

A few hours later, she hears a couple soft female voices talking about her. “…..she’s just lucky Shane’s got a raging hard on for her…”

“.….she hasn’t lifted a finger here yet…”

“.…got attacked and Walsh left the group to save her. Such bullshit…”

“Amy probably wouldn’t be dead if it weren’t for that girl..-”

She steps out of the RV, groaning in pain with every step. Shane rushes her, reaching out to take her elbow, only to be shoved away weakly.

“Babygirl--”

“No Walsh. No more. I can’t deal with this. These bitches over here, whom I can hear claerly in there by the way! Won’t quit bitching about what I haven’t done. So I’ll just be over here.” She barks, pushing Shane away again. He huffs, watching from afar as she staggers over to the bench and grabs the legs of a walker. Grunting, tears running down her face, she sees Glenn grab the shoulders, but when his eyes meet hers he drops it immediately.

“Hey, maybe you should just sit down--”

“No. I’m gonna help. Grab the other goddamn end and lift. With your knees. Jesus christ.” She hoists the body up and carries it across the field. As they sit the body on the ground, her arms quaking, she drops the feet and crumbles to the dirt beneath her.

“Goddamn it.” Shane skids to her side, dust clouding around them as his hands grab her arms. “I just want you to relax. C’mon babygirl. Let me help you--”

“Get away! I can do it on my own!” She screams, shoving him away. “Just please, leave me here, Shane.” She shoves him once more and rises to his feet, heading over to Carol, Andrea, and the hispanic woman.

“You guys better keep your traps shut. She was shot and she was injured, and here you are, not doin’ a goddamn thing, bitchin’ about an injured officer who can’t lift anything. Kettle callin’ the pot black shit now, isn’t it? Leave her out of this shit.”

The next morning the group gets up and ready to leave, Shane leading her to his Jeep.

“Darlin’ get in.” He buckles her seat belt without a second thought.

“Quit treating me like your girlfriend, Walsh.” She mutters, pushing on his shoulder.

“I’m not.” He nips, grabbing her arm and throwing it away from him.

“Oh really? Were you gonna go around and buckle in every woman out there?” She barks back, raising a brow at him.

“Well no--I’m just--”

“You just suddenlt have this urge to keep me safe from harm? Like my goddamn boyfriend? You’re not Walsh, okay? So just quit. I can do for myself.” She drives, letting him head out behind everyone else.

“Okay, babygirl. I’m sorry. It’s just--when I thought Rick was dead, it hurt. Right? A-a-a-and when I saw you come through that brush like an angel, I just-hell, you almost had my ugly ass crying. I was just happy to see you.” He makes conversation while he’s driving. They get to the highway and slow to a crawl. The motorhome stops up ahead and all the others in the group get out to inspect.

As they ravage the hundreds of cars, like time stopped, they find lots of useful things.

“Bet ya’ll ain’t never wanted water so bad.” Shane chuckles, popping the cap on a waterjug and soaking himself. She watches on, laughing to herself as Shane bathes in it. His eyes land on her, grabbing her arms and pulling her to the truck, popping another cap and gently pulling the rag she’d tied up her hair with and shook her curls under the water. “Ooh! Babygirl, you look so good with those wet curly locks!” He cheers, giving her a sopping wet hug.

“Walkers!” The screech is enough to freeze her in her tracks.

“Everybody under the cars.” Rick’s gentle voice carries and Shane grabs her hand, pulling her under a box truck.

“Walsh, look. I can lead them away--”

“Ssh. Shut up. Do you remember that shoot out with me, Rick, and you? And you said that we wouldn’t make it out, and what did ol’ Shane do?” He asks, patting her arm. They lay on the hot concrete under a box truck, the various sharp stones digging into her knees and arm.

“You got us out.”

“And you didn’t think I could did ya? But I did, babygirl. So trust me again. C’mon, darlin’. You just roll your front against my back as tight as you can, okay? We’ll make it again. Trust me. Now ssh. I see a bunch a’ feet movin’. Don’t make a goddamn sound, babygirl.” He whispers, breathing out as he feels her huddle as tight as she can against his back. “I got ya baby. I got ya.” He coos almost as a breath, trying to be silent. “Lemme have your hand.” He whispers, her hand snaking over his ribs and grabs his open hand, squeezing. “Take a deep breath, let it out slow. Show time.” Her mouth bites into his shoulder, he shivers and squeezes her hand tighter. One of her legs slips over his and she’s almost melded into him as one person.

When the horde finally works through, Shane looks over his shoulder to find her asleep against him. Gently shaking her, as she awakes, and looks confused. For a moment, she looks like a glorious sunny day sitting by the lake under a shade tree after a long nap under the summer sun.

“You look like you had a good nap.” He chuckles, rolling to face her, still on the ground and their noses almost touch. “Wow, last time we were this close you remember what we were doing?”

“Yeah,” she laughs, pushing awkwardly at his shoulders. “I think it was some stupid party and we were playing seven minutes in heaven.”

“Yeah, and I got to second base with Haley Duvall that day. You were a prude though. You shut down so fast, even when I tried to score.” He chuckles, leaning dangerously close to press his dry lips gently to her cheek.

“I did, Walsh. Then we went from cops to surviving this ugly ass world now.” She crows, hearing a blood curdling scream. It draws them both from this happy cocoon they were in, and she scrambles from under the truck.

“Hey, also?” He leans so close his voice is but a whisper of hot air over her neck. “Don’t ever bite my shoulder like that again unless you plan to finish what you start.”

“Shane I--” He gives her a dark smirk and a wink, making her body tingle.

“What was that?” He asks as he gaits over to the group.

“It was Sophia. She ran off, Shane. Rick went after her.” He grumbles, grabbing Lottie’s hand and heads for the woods.

“We gotta find that kid.” He states as they slip into the woods.

Some Carlisle Baseball Headcanons for World Series Week

Carlisle is serious about baseball.

He loves baseball because the U.S. is where he really came into his own as a man and a vampire. It represents his home.

Baseball is also his love because it is a game the enjoyment of which is improved by advanced brainpower. Vampire memory and thinking enables him to memorize the statistics of every player in every league and calculate on the fly the probabilities of particular outcomes which keeps things interesting.

He has a baseball card collection of cards he has actually acquired over two hundred years which is worth several million dollars. It is stored in a museum-quality archival space. He acquired most of the cards through bubble gum and cigarette packs.

He delivered Joseph Jefferson “Shoeless Joe” Jackson while he was working in Appalachia in the late 19th century, which has made him a lifelong White Sox fan.

In 1917, he would sneak into the upper deck of Comiskey park where he could sit in the shade. He went to almost every game. The players eventually noticed him and decided he was their good luck charm. They nicknamed him “The Ghost” because of how he vanished after each game.

Edward is a Cubs fan. It is understood that Carlisle must fly the W flag any time the Cubs beat the Sox. He was required to keep the flag up for all of late 2016 and 2017 after the series win.

Carlisle is the person who got the Cullens to play baseball, even though sometimes he’s too busy to play these days. He loves that this is a thing that brings his family together.

Having a catch with his sons (and when he can get them, his daughters) is one of his favorite ways of having a deep conversation.

Bella’s being related by marriage to a AA player was a big deal to him but he didn’t want to frighten her so he didn’t mention how excited he was. But he asked Phil to bring a signed ball to the wedding.

He and Esme joke about their annual “marital separation” during the World Series. But seriously, he is not a great husband during the playoffs and the World Series, especially if the franchise he is rooting for is losing/loses.

He is skeptical of newer franchises but roots hard for older franchises. He has rooted continuously for the Atlanta Braves since their inception in Boston in the 1870s. Atlanta, Chicago Sox, and Cincinnati are his favorite teams.

It is understood that no one in the family is to spoil the outcome of a baseball game, whether by telepathy, clairvoyance, or even just having watched live a game which Carlisle put on the DVR while he was at work. He will sulk for at least a day if he finds out the outcome before he has a chance to see it.

He taught Renesmee to bat in the usual “lean over you and hold the bat with you” way. She is a reasonably good hitter for a half-vampire.

17 Curious Facts About The Cincinnati Reds

The Original Cincinnati Baseball Team Now Plays In Atlanta

Everyone knows baseball’s first professional team was organized in Cincinnati in 1869. What’s forgotten is that team’s disappointing 1870 season, after which the franchise dissolved. Manager Harry Wright moved to Boston, where he organized, with some former Cincinnati teammates, the Boston Red Stockings in 1871. Renamed the Boston Braves in 1912, that team moved to Milwaukee in 1953, and to Atlanta in 1966.

Red Stockings Were Dangerous

The 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings created a sensation by wearing knickerbocker trousers to show off their manly calves, clothed in lurid scarlet, to entice more women to the ball park. Other clubs adopted Cincinnati’s style, but players reported cases of blood poisoning when they were spiked, because the toxic dyes coloring their stockings seeped into the wounds. By the early 1900s, players started wearing white “sanitary socks” under brightly (and dangerously) dyed “stirrup socks” to avoid infection.

Today’s Reds Are Cincinnati’s Fifth Professional Baseball Team

1. The Cincinnati Red Stockings of 1869 dissolved after the 1870 season. 2. A revived Reds, formed in 1875, joined the new National League in 1876, but was expelled from the league and dissolved in 1880 because they refused to stop serving beer. 3. The current Cincinnati Reds team was organized in 1881 to join the rival American Association, then quit the AA in 1889 to rejoin the National League. 4. The American Association returned to town in 1891 with team known as Kelly's Killers, who played in the East End. 5. A short-lived professional league, the Union Association, recruited a Cincinnati franchise, the “Outlaw Reds,” who competed during that league’s only season in 1884.

Too Much Sunshine.

Baseball games have been called on account of rain, snow, earthquakes, darkness and all sorts of factors, but the Cincinnati Reds once had a game called on account of sunshine. The Reds and the Boston Braves squared off on 6 May 1892 in League Park. This ancestor of Crosley Field was built facing west and, after 14 innings of scoreless play, the catchers and hitters complained they couldn’t see the ball as the sun slowly settled behind Price Hill. Umpire Jack Sheridan agreed and called the tie game on account of sunshine. The next day’s Enquirer called the decision “just and sensible.”

Cicadas Are Good Luck

Local maven Joe Hoffecker notes the Reds have played eight seasons during which Cincinnati endured an infestation of 17-year cicadas. During those eight seasons, the Reds won a World Series, two National League pennants and two second-place finishes. The combined won-lost record for those eight years is 633-553, for a cumulative .534 percentage. This bodes well for the 2021 season.

Build It And They Will Come

Before settling in at the corner of Western Avenue and Findlay Street, the Reds played ball at Union Grounds, located approximately where the Union Terminal Fountain is today (1867 to 1870), at a park variously known as Cincinnati Baseball Park, Avenue Grounds, and Brighton Park, located in Camp Washington on Spring Grove Avenue north of the stockyards (1876 to 1880), and at the Bank Street Grounds in Brighton, near where Bank Street ends at I-75 today (1882 to 1883). The team settled at a former brickyard at the corner of Western Avenue and Findlay Street, named League Park (1884 to 1901), rebuilt as the Palace of the Fans in 1902, and as Redland Field in 1912. This venue was renamed Crosley field in 1934.

Ovine Groundskeepers

On the morning of 4 July 1894, somebody opened the gates at League Park and all the lawnmowers escaped. Groundskeeper John Schwab arrived at the ball grounds early to get the lines painted and stands swept for a double header only to discover that a flock of sheep he employed to trim the grass had wandered off. By nightfall, he hadn’t located his errant grounds crew.

Palms Of Seasoned Leather

Second baseman John Alexander “Bid” McPhee was the first major leaguer to play his entire professional career (1882-99) for the Cincinnati Reds. Many years later, Johnny Bench and Barry Larkin also achieved this feat. But there is another curious feat associated with Bid McPhee. He was certainly the last second baseman, and some sources claim he was the last player, to take the field without a glove. After 14 years of outstanding fielding without a mitt, McPhee donned a glove in 1896 and had a Hall of fame year.

Let’s Go Out To The Lobby

In 1913, the hottest concept in movie theaters was the airdome, an outdoor set-up under the stars with a piano player pounding away as silent films unspooled. The Reds organization hopped on that bandwagon by opening Cincinnati’s only roof-covered airdome at Redland Field. The nightly theater sat 3,000 viewers who got to see a feature and four shorts for a nickel. The Reds also leased their ballpark for dances, boxing, wrestling and track events.

Spring Training In A Cemetery

Although the 1919 Reds went on to claim the World Series crown, the year got off to an inauspicious start. Manager Pat Moran hauled the team to Waxahachie, Texas for spring training but found the weather anything but vernal. Constant rain and plunging temperatures prevented play on the field at Jungle Park, so the team practiced on the adjacent railroad tracks or crossed the road and found higher – and dryer – ground in the Waxahachie City Cemetery. It was the “dead ball” era, after all!

Ejected For Napping

Hall-of-Fame center-fielder Edd Roush has the distinction of being the only major leaguer ever ejected from a game for taking a nap on the field. The Reds opened an East Coast road trip on 8 June 1920, facing the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds. The defending world champions played miserably but vociferously challenged an eighth-inning call by umpire Barry McCormick. The ump allowed the debate to go on for a good 15 minutes, so Roush made a pillow of his cap and glove and reclined in the outfield. At length, McCormick ejected a couple of players and ordered play to resume, but Roush couldn’t be roused and was sent to the showers. New York won, 5 to 4.

Three Is Better Than Two

In all of major league history, there have been only three occasions in which two ball clubs played three games on a single day. The last of those rare triple headers involved the Cincinnati Reds. Fighting against Pittsburgh for third place in the National League, the Reds faced the Pirates at Forbes Field on 2 October 1920 for a marathon outing beginning at noon. The Reds took the first two games, clinching their third-place finish. The Pirates were ahead 6-0 when the third game was called on account of darkness.

Postponed On Account Of Lindbergh

In May 1927, Colonel Charles Lindbergh flew alone across the Atlantic Ocean. After returning stateside, Lindbergh embarked on a nationwide tour, arriving in Cincinnati on 6 August 1927. The Reds hastily erected a temporary platform at Redland Field and the gates opened for a standing-room-only crowd to hear their hero speak. So many aviation enthusiasts filled the stands that the Reds couldn’t clear them out to let the paying baseball crowd in. That day’s game was postponed and the Reds and Phillies turned the next day’s game into a double-header.

Up, Up And Away!

On 8 June 1934, the Cincinnati Reds became the first major league baseball team to travel to a game by airplane when they journeyed to Chicago. Manager Bob O’Farrell and 19 players flew to Chicago, some said, in a bid to distract attention from their last-place standing. The Reds beat the Cubs that day, 4 to 3.

Throughout the late 1940s and early 1950s, Americans suspected anyone with liberal leanings of supporting Communism. Nationally televised hearings led by Senator Joseph McCarthy raised anti-Communist feelings to a fever pitch, and no one wanted to be labelled a “Red.” Bowing to popular pressure, the Cincinnati Reds became the Cincinnati Redlegs from 1954 to 1959 to allay any concerns about their patriotism.

Fewer Trains Meant Parking For The Reds

In 1957, both the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants departed for sunny California, and New York City was left holding the bag. That bag contained an unfulfilled offer to build what would become Shea Stadium as part of a futile effort to hold either of the National League teams in Gotham. Snubbed by both, New York determined to build that stadium anyway and attempted to lure the Reds to the Big Apple. Reds owner Powel Crosley Jr. hinted that he might consider such an offer, because he needed parking. Cincinnati rushed a plan to demolish Union Terminal’s maintenance facilities to create more parking spaces around Crosley Field.

Rosie Reds Kept The Team In Cincinnati

Despite winning the National League pennant in 1961, the Reds saw dwindling attendance over the following years. When owner Bill DeWitt let it be known in 1964 that he was entertaining an offer to sell the team to a San Diego syndicate, the Queen City panicked. Among the proposals to boost attendance was the successful formation of the Rosie Reds to encourage women to attend games. The Rosie Reds are still going strong after more than 50 years. “Rosie,” by the way, is an acronym. It stands for Rooters Organized to Stimulate Interest & Enthusiasm.

“Leo! Mikey has an internet girlfriend!” Leonardo popped out from the kitchen and Donnie from his lab. “Catch!”

Mikey’s phone was flying through the air and now was in Leonardo’s hands.

“Mikey, what’s going on? Who is this girl?” Leonardo started reading the conversation.

“Technically, if it is internet dating we cannot assure it’s a woman.” Donnie walked his way to Leo and started reading with him.

“He is my girlfriend!” Mikey took away his phone from his brother’s hand.

“Since when ya have a girlfriend?” Raph sat down on the couch and laughed.

“We’ve been talking for five years now.” They all chocked.

“You been talking to this girl for five years and we never noticed it?” Donnie wasn’t actually buying this.

“Yeah! and give me that.” Mikey grabbed his phone and walked to his room.

“How do you discovered it?” Leo asked to Raph.

In Mikey’s room, he locked his door and called his Babe.

“What’s wrong?” Through the phone line, his girl noticed something was wrong.

“My brothers already know ‘bout us.”

“No Peachy Babe, just, They don’t think you’re really a girl.” Mikey closed his eyes.

“Well, guess who’s moving to New York.” She said with an excited tone.

“We are finally gonna see each other!” He said almost crying of happiness, they talked a little more but she needed to go.

And then, it happened, he realized, he remembered; He was a mutant turtle, how she was going to be in a relationship with a mutant turtle! After those five years talking, I know it sounds delusional but he actually loved her, he knew about her but this time he was going to see her in person, and he was scared. Maybe after seeing him, she would run away scared and never talk to him again. All of these doubts were running inside his head, and he genuinely looked worried; Y/N was moving to New York in less than a month for him, for him.

“What’s wrong with ya?” Raph asked him. “Ya barely touched the pizza.”

“She’s moving to New York, she’s from East Atlanta,” Mikey confessed to his big brother. “And I’m nervous she wouldn’t like me.”

“She had seen ya before, right?” Raph smirk a little, he understood his brother being nervous.

“Actually... No.” Mikey murmured softly, and he looked Raph’s angry grin.

“Are ya kiddin’ me?” When Mikey looked down embarrassed, he sighed. “And what’s the problem?”

“I’m afraid she won’t like me anymore.” Poking the pizza, Mikey sighed as well. “When you meet your girl she was scared?”

“Ya bet, that shortie almost died.” Raph giggled. “But if she likes ya enough, she won’t care how ya look, I say that from experience.”

Her eyes widened, she looked at him up and down, but finally staring at his Baby blue eyes. Mikey looked at her as well, she was such a Beauty! Her legs looked so hot in that orange dress! Orange! She remembered his favorite color! Their eyes meet, he saw many emotions in those cute eyes, but he never sensed fear.

“I’m sorry, if i’m not what you wanted.” He looked to the floor, feeling defeated.

“You are even better than I expected.” Y/N smiled, walking towards him, and placing one hand on his cheek.

“I thought you will hate me.” Mikey placed his hand on top of her, watching how she looked at his three-fingered hand. “I thought you will hate me for being a freak.

“Hey, you’re not a freak, you’re my boyfriend, remember?” She giggled, She was right, she didn’t expected that his internet boyfriend was a Mutant Turtle.

But she definitely didn’t mind.

“We’ve been talking since I was 18, and I just turned 23, so.” Those beautiful eyes looked at him, without judging him. “I gave you five years of my life and time, and I fell in love with everything I knew about you, I heard you fighting with your brothers, and I heard you laughing, crying, and you know.” Mikey blushed, phone sex? How thankful she was of that b-but…Mordred eyed the vase of red roses in the hall - it was close enough, though she’d have to be careful of bumping into Nero or Atlanta for a few days. THE DEGENERATE’S GUIDE TO COLLEGE FOOTBALL TV WATCH ‘EM UPS 2021: PANDEMIC YEAR TWO, SEASON WEEK ZERO

There aren’t many things you can count on in this post-pandemic world set against the backdrop of the ongoing pandemic but you can count on this: WE’RE COMING TO YOUR CITY!!!

StateI feel rusty. It hasn’t been any longer than normal since we had football on our TVs but it feels like the whole of time is just crawling along until the great inevitability. For all the cancellations and makeup dates and weird abbreviated scheduling we got in 2020, there wasn’t much in the way of COVID demonstrably affecting the onfield product. I’m counting on the new forfeit rules to wreak some havoc on the playoff race but I’m also incredibly shitty at predictions.

This is a short docket of games featuring Hawaii and a handful of teams that are scheduled to play in Hawaii this year. Them’s the rules and you gotta like it. I could link to it but basically you can only schedule a game before Labor Day if you have a game scheduled at Hawaii. Hawaii mostly only plays against trash bucket teams so this week is a slate of trash bucket teams.

UConn has been an embarrassment for a while but Fresno is expected to win by 4+ scores in their opener? If you’ve got a pair of doggers you should’ve been wearing them to settle into the dung heap that is this week’s schedule. But you definitely need to trot them out for this horrible yet perfectly CBSSN matchup.

Hawaii @ UCLA, 3:30pm ET, ESPN

I guess this is the marquee game of the week. No wonder this week doesn’t count. Todd Graham vs. Chip Kelly could get at least a little bit wild. Maybe we’ll be entertained? UCLA -17.5 against anybody sounds dicey to me but that 67.5 o/u is appealing.

Eastern Illinois @ Indiana State, 6:00pm ET, ESPN+

I’ve lost track of who is or isn’t D1-A at this point so I checked and this is actually a AA game. It counts as a watch ‘em up for this week but I don’t know how to bet on this type of game.

Alcorn State vs NC Central (in Atlanta, GA) 7:00pm ET, ESPN

This is also a AA game but at least I get why it’s on TV. I still don’t know how to bet on it, though. At least through mainstream gambling channels.

UTEP @ New Mexico State, 9:30pm ET, Bally Sports AZ / KVIA / FloFootball

UTEP -10 is probably the easiest money of the week. They weren’t good good last year but they were better than their bad record and they’re experienced. NMSU didn’t play last year and lost a bunch of starters to the transfer portal. They played two spring games against lower division opponents and split them. Doug Martin has been the Aggies head coach since 2013 and has one single season of more than 3 wins. That was 4 years ago. You do not, in fact, gotta hand it to him. Weird trivia: this is the 98th meeting of these two programs.

Southern Utah @ San Jose State, 10:00pm ET, CBSSN

SJSU was undefeated in the regular season last year and beat Boise State for the MWC title. They have nine starters back, including the QB, on an offense that was pretty good last year. Southern Utah is a AA school. I’m not sure why there’s a line on this game but the Battling Jeff Garcias should jump over 24.5 pretty easily.

Hello and welcome to the newest feature on soberjetsfans.com my life took a turn for the better this week when I was asked to write a piece here on a weakly basis. My name is Scott and I am an falcoholic, I’ve been a huge Atlanta Falcons fan for all my life, my life began the day I saw MC Hammer on the sideline throwing up the 2 legit 2 quit sign.

As we enter week five in the NFL my beloved Falcons are taking a knee this week after the mighty Bills showed their mettle in Atlanta last week. Thursday night the much maligned Patriots travel to Tampa Bay, I expect Tom Brady to lead his team to victory but it won’t be as pretty as his supermodel wife don’t expect the Buccaneers to back down. The bye week is always a sad one for me because if I don’t get to see Matt Ryan throwing TD passes I am forced to seek other stimulation of the football kind so....what do I do? Find lesser teams to fill the void. Buffalo v Cincy nope boring Carolina v Detroit nope San Fran v Indy for Andrew Lucks return? PASS Tennessee v Miami? Gross I could list a few more but I would rather be at a zombie zoo. Thankfully there are a few gems on the schedule this week. The Seahawks travel to Los Angeles this should be an early season test for the young 3-1 Rams. Seattle won’t be able to get their stagnant running game going without Chris Carson, the Rams defense is good enough to quiet Russell Wilson at home. Baltimore in Oakland should be interesting the injury to Derek Carr gives the Ravens a better chance at winning sorry beast mode. The Packers at Dallas will be the game of the week. Can Aa Ron Rodgers dissect the boys at home? This guy says yes. Early rookie of the year candidate DeShaun Watson is at home after putting up 50plus last week. The undefeated Chiefs look to run up their record against a middle of the pack run defense. After giving his first NFL paycheck to hurricane victims it’s hard to root against Houston and Watson. I look for a good game and Watson to be tested early, the Chiefs will roll though.

And the Monday night game will suck so skip it and watch Monday night Raw.

This week the Calgary Flames signed 45 year old Jaromir Jagr, The Minnesota Twins returned to the baseball postseason after losing 100games last year, if sports teaches us anything it’s that the impossible is possible so this week look for the New York Jets to upset the Cleveland Browns..yes I said upset...because every Jets win this year if that happens will be an upset.

So I got a ticket today and got in trouble for two things 1) Expired registration sticker (I had a 2010 registration sticker, I was just lazy and forgot to put it on) 2) I don't have my year yet, but I still had two other passengers in my car. Apparently you can only take passengers under 21 years old in your car after you've had your license for a year. Anyways, my dad is really pissed about insurance rates or something. Do they go up for the ticket I just described? On the ticket, it said the only non-correctable traffic violation was the two underage passengers in the car.""
