There Are Three Things I Don’t Envy
One, I don't envy magical power. Many people gave me a leaf, a stone, saying they went to India or Tibet, or I meditated on a Buddha statue, and then suddenly got peace of mind and a leaf fell on their head. What am I supposed to do with that?
Second, I don't envy people who try to look for inspiration outside. You pay 8000 dollars to attend a yoga or samadhi seminar, when come you out, you're the same person. We have all goodness of human being within. Why do we look for that outside? Some quotes give us tenderness in our mind. It's because the author realized something in their mind, not from the outside.
Third, as a Buddhist practitioner, I don't envy people practice riding on excitement. Many people practice or do retreat when excited. When not excited, everything is forgotten.
What about continuity, stability, single-pointedness of mind? We focus so much on external, materialist things. This includes your devotion to teacher. You demand teacher should think, do what you like. And we extremely attach to the outer form of a teacher, instead of looking at their inner qualities.
To be born as human being, we have and should cherish our immeasurable inner qualities - pure goodness, genuineness. But when look within, we are frightened with so many emotions on surface, then tell ourselves " don't want to look any more. It's too much."

Copenhagen was so much fun. I was there for three days for work, and the organisation treated us well. We had a gala dinner on the first night; went to the opera where they’d organised a band and a lovely singer. The views from the opera house were incredible. We cycled loads, went sightseeing. Tivoli gardens were fantastic, with loads to eat and walk around - the weather was just perfect - the views from the round tower were gorgeous; and on our last night my team and I went for a boat ride, stopped by Soho house for a drink and called it a night. At one point of time I realised how lucky I am to be able to travel the world at just 24. I’ve been travelling abroad since I was born but somehow, this excursion felt different.
My trip then took me to south Germany, to this extremely tiny rural town. I’m with a dear friend who I consider my little brother; I had showed him my city when he was visiting me now he’s returning the favour. It’s so lush green, the air is nippy, with occasional sunlight. The flowers were so colourful, little pockets of pink and purple and red; the lake was so blue and fresh; I felt so connected to nature, and I was so glad to be in this area for a couple of days, away from the bustling city life. We’re participating in a yoga retreat and I’ve been following the Guruji for a while now. The sessions have been fantastic thus far and I’m keen to practice when I go back to India.
I broke my no-drinking streak and have concluded that when in Europe, the Unholy ABC Trinity become redundant. ABC: Alcohol, Baked goods and Cheese. It’s too hot where I live in India to consume and burn these easily plus I don’t prefer drinking in India for the sake of my reputation.
I would’ve loved to stay longer and see Berlin but duty calls so I’m heading back home. At least I got some decent amount of shopping done. I bought a black skirt and a very chic sweater from Selected Femme, two longchamp bags and one Nike top. I bought some stuff for my mum, hunted for shoes for my sibling but then I couldn’t find what I was looking for so I said screw it. I got my friend a bottle of German gin for his birthday at the duty free.
I need to renew my wardrobe and this is the year for that. I’m waiting for the designer to give me my clothes. She’s taking quite a long time and I’m hoping that she’s able to execute the vision I had. im also in dire need of more casual stuff - trousers and comfortable blouses and shirts.
my photoshoot pictures came back and they’re beyond gorgeous. I’ve already updated my LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Soho house app (😣). I redownloaded instagram to see which bitches I need to remove from my account since my last refresh (I only download instagram and reactivate my account to unfollow and remove people).

MODERN WEEK.
name: safeerah jordayne. nationality: indian. hometown: puri, india. current home: she's a nomad. occupation: wellness influencer. yoga instructor. meditation guide. relationship: dating morgan wylde. exes: dated dacey stark for six months, they parted ways due to life circumstances. dated and travelled together with dastan allyrion, they were also friends in school. situationships: a long-term situationship with fiona grafton in the past. a short fling with doran uller in the past. recently had a brief situationship with deimos velaryon, she had to travel to teach a yoga retreat a few months after they met, and they agreed to discuss a relationship when she returned. saf instead met morgan and started a relationship with him. archetype in school: the daydreamer. reputation: good. saf is one of those rare, largely unproblematic influencers. there is some criticism regarding her holistic approaches when it comes to health, but it's minimal due to her not being against conventional medicine. she believes the two can co-exist, but some people are against her advocating for holistic approaches entirely in her videos. known for: being a wellness influencer and her yoga videos on youtube have million of views, her 5-minute meditation tiktok videos will have crossed most people's fyp at least once, her content is more famous than her as a person.
𝓅𝒾𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓈𝓉 / 𝓅𝓁𝒶𝓎𝓁𝒾𝓈𝓉
in school, she did not have a set style, but safeerah has always been fond of wearing a crop top and skirt. her style was quite bohemian. she was restless in school, preferring to chill with her friends. during parties, she was always one of the first people on the dancefloor. she had the vibes of a stoner kid without actually being stoned.
she lives the digital nomadic lifestyle, she is wherever she wants to be in the world. she usually only stays put in the same place for a longer period of time when dating or teaching at a yoga retreat.
one of saf's great passions in life is surfing. she grew up surfing in puri and has a collection of surfboards that are very dear to her. when she was a kid, she almost drowned when getting hit by a heavy wave and being unable to get enough air before the next wave broke on top of her. she managed to get to shore. despite her parents' fear, she was back in the water the next day, determined that she simply needed to understand the ocean better.
besides yoga, meditation and surfing, she is also fond of hiking and dancing. if you visit one of the airbnbs that she rents, there is often indian music blaring from the speakers, the smell of spices as food is simmering in the pot, and with safeerah dancing in the kitchen.
despite focusing a lot on inner peace and balance, safeerah is quite restless and is always be looking for the next adventure. a conventional life has always seemed so boring to her, some would even say she has tried to escape reality with her never staying in the same place for long. it is only recently she has started living life with more peace in her mind.

Several months later, as winter approached, and it was getting cold and uncomfortable, Abbot Nakagawa told me that if I wanted to be trained in traditional Shingon practice, he would allow it—but I would have to do it the old-fashioned way. I would have to do a solo retreat of one hundred days in winter, most of the time with no source of heat, in complete silence other than occasional instruction from him, and with no meal after noon.
With all that had happened, I felt that I was now ready for such an ordeal. My training began on December 22, the day of the winter solstice. The abbot had warned me that part of the old-fashioned way involved certain ascetical practices derived not from Buddhism, but from the shamanic tradition of Shinto, Japan’s pre-Buddhist tribal religion. One of the most common methods that tribal cultures use to obtain visions of gods or spirits is through prolonged exposure to extreme hot or cold. In India, Hindus have the “five fires” practice; in North America, Native Americans have the sweat lodge and the sun dance. These involve heat. The traditional Shinto shamanic practice goes in the other direction. It involves cold—squatting under freezing waterfalls in winter, or standing in cold springs, or dousing your body with ice water, and so forth.
Because Shingon is Vajrayana, the main meditation practice involves working with visualizations, mantras, and mudra gestures. You replace your self-image with that of an archetype, you replace your usual mental talk with the mantra of that archetype, and you take on the physical and emotional body experience of that archetype through making mudras—ritual hand gestures. If your concentration is good enough, your identity briefly shifts. You become that archetype. This gives you insight into the arbitrary nature of self-identity. The technical term for this practice is deity yoga because you experience merging (yoga, i.e., “yoking”) with a mythic archetype.
My current way of teaching mindfulness is, in part, informed by this early Shingon training. I have people observe self in terms of inner mental images, mental talk, and emotional body sensation, the three sensory elements used in the Vajrayana deity yoga practice. I’ve created a hybrid approach. What I have people observe is derived from the Japanese Vajrayana paradigm: self = mental image + mental talk + body. But how I have people observe is derived from mindfulness, which has its origin in Southeast Asian Theravada practice. So, in a sense, I have brought the abbot’s lineage back, although probably not quite in the form that he was expecting.

Ayurveda in India: A Journey Through the Ancient Science of Healing
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems, originating in India thousands of years ago. Rooted in the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between mind, body, and spirit, Ayurveda offers profound insights into maintaining harmony with nature. Today, Ayurveda in India remains a significant pillar of wellness, combining ancient wisdom with modern practices to promote a healthier lifestyle.
The Origins of Ayurveda
The term "Ayurveda" is derived from the Sanskrit words "Ayur" (life) and "Veda" (science or knowledge). This "science of life" dates back to around 5,000 years ago, with its principles recorded in sacred texts like the Charaka Samhita and ayurveda in india. These texts outline various practices, treatments, and philosophies that continue to inspire practitioners worldwide.
Principles of Ayurveda
Ayurveda is based on the concept of three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These doshas represent different types of energy present in every individual. Maintaining a balance among these energies is key to good health. Practitioners of Ayurveda assess these doshas to determine personalized treatments and lifestyle recommendations.
The Role of Ayurveda in Modern Healthcare
In modern India, Ayurveda has transcended its traditional role to become a recognized system of medicine. From herbal remedies to therapeutic treatments, it is integrated into hospitals, wellness centers, and spas across the country. This combination of ancient wisdom and contemporary science makes Ayurveda in India a unique and valuable resource for global health and wellness.
Ayurvedic Treatments
Ayurveda offers a diverse range of treatments tailored to individual needs. Popular treatments include:
Panchakarma Therapy Panchakarma is a detoxification therapy designed to eliminate toxins and restore balance. It includes techniques like oil massages, herbal enemas, and nasal cleansing.
Abhyanga Massage A full-body massage using warm herbal oils, Abhyanga is known for improving circulation, reducing stress, and promoting relaxation.
Shirodhara In this treatment, warm herbal oil is poured gently over the forehead to calm the nervous system and relieve mental fatigue.
Herbal Remedies Ayurvedic medicine uses herbs like ashwagandha, turmeric, and neem to address various health conditions naturally.
Ayurveda and Yoga: A Symbiotic Relationship
Yoga and Ayurveda often go hand in hand. Both systems share a focus on holistic health and balance, emphasizing the importance of diet, meditation, and physical activity. Yoga supports Ayurveda by strengthening the body and calming the mind, creating the perfect foundation for Ayurvedic healing.
The Impact of Ayurveda on Global Wellness
The global demand for natural and sustainable healthcare has led to the widespread adoption of Ayurveda. Indian Ayurvedic practitioners and wellness centers have played a significant role in spreading this traditional science worldwide. The authenticity and depth of Ayurveda in India make it a sought-after destination for those seeking authentic treatments and training.
Ayurvedic Diet: Eating for Balance
Diet is a crucial component of Ayurveda. Foods are classified based on their taste, energy, and post-digestive effects, with recommendations tailored to each dosha. A balanced Ayurvedic diet promotes digestion, boosts immunity, and helps maintain overall health.
Examples of Ayurvedic Superfoods:
Turmeric: Known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
Ginger: Aids in digestion and alleviates nausea.
Ghee: Clarified butter that nourishes the body and improves digestion.
Popular Ayurvedic Destinations in India
India is home to several Ayurvedic retreats and centers that offer authentic experiences. Some notable destinations include:
Kerala: Known as the cradle of Ayurveda, Kerala boasts numerous traditional Ayurvedic centers and serene retreats.
Rishikesh: Nestled in the Himalayas, this city offers a perfect blend of yoga and Ayurvedic healing.
Goa: Famous for its wellness resorts that combine Ayurveda with luxury.
Ayurveda and Mental Health
Ayurveda places significant importance on mental health. Practices like meditation, mindfulness, and herbal therapies are used to treat stress, anxiety, and depression. By addressing the root cause of mental imbalances, family holiday packages in india fosters emotional well-being.
The Role of Ayurveda in Beauty and Skincare
Ayurvedic principles extend to natural beauty and skincare. Herbal remedies, such as neem face packs and sandalwood masks, are used to enhance skin health. Ayurvedic oils and scrubs are equally effective in promoting glowing skin and healthy hair.
Research and Development in Ayurveda
The Indian government has taken initiatives to promote Ayurveda through research and education. The Ministry of AYUSH oversees the development of Ayurvedic medicine and ensures quality standards. These efforts are vital in preserving the legacy of Ayurveda in India.
Ayurveda in Daily Life
Incorporating Ayurveda into daily routines can improve health and vitality. Practices such as oil pulling, tongue scraping, and drinking warm water with lemon are simple yet effective ways to embrace this ancient science.
Challenges Facing Ayurveda
Despite its benefits, Ayurveda faces challenges such as misconceptions, lack of standardization, and limited global acceptance in medical communities. However, with growing awareness and research, Ayurveda continues to gain credibility and trust worldwide.
The Future of Ayurveda
The future of Ayurveda is promising, as it aligns perfectly with the global shift toward sustainable and natural healthcare. By integrating with modern medicine, Ayurveda is poised to play a vital role in addressing contemporary health challenges.
Conclusion
Ayurveda in India is not just a healing system; it is a way of life that promotes harmony and balance. Its timeless wisdom continues to inspire millions around the world. By embracing Ayurvedic practices, we can pave the way for a healthier, more balanced future.

How to Become a Yoga Instructor in India: Your Step-by-Step Guide
How to Become a Yoga Instructor in India: Your Step-by-Step Guide
Yoga, an ancient practice rooted in Indian tradition, has gained global recognition for its physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. India, being the birthplace of yoga, is a hotspot for those looking to become certified yoga instructors. Whether you dream of teaching yoga in peaceful retreats, wellness centers, or on bustling beaches in Goa, becoming a yoga teacher in India is a fulfilling career path. Here’s a detailed guide on how to become a yoga instructor in India.
Step 1: Deepen Your Own Practice
Before you can teach yoga to others, it's crucial to build a strong foundation in your own practice. Yoga is not just about physical postures but also about cultivating mindfulness, discipline, and self-awareness. Spend time learning the philosophy, asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation practices. Develop a consistent routine and explore different styles of yoga, such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Kundalini.
Step 2: Choose the Right Yoga Teacher Training Program (YTT)
In India, various yoga schools and ashrams offer yoga teacher training programs (YTT) that are globally recognized. When choosing the right program, make sure it’s accredited by the Yoga Alliance, an international organization that sets standards for yoga teacher certification.
Key things to look for in a YTT program:
Duration: The most common programs are 200-hour, 300-hour, or 500-hour certifications. A 200-hour course is the standard entry-level certification.
Curriculum: A good YTT should cover anatomy, physiology, yoga philosophy, teaching methodology, alignment techniques, and hands-on teaching practice.
Location: India offers many beautiful and serene places to do your training, with Goa and Rishikesh being two of the most popular destinations for aspiring teachers.
Step 3: Complete Your 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training
The first level of certification is usually the 200-hour course. It’s important to immerse yourself in the training process, which typically takes around 3-4 weeks of intensive study. This course will provide you with a solid grounding in yoga theory and practice, including the correct alignment for poses, the ability to teach others safely, and understanding the yogic philosophy that underpins the practice.
Step 4: Gain Teaching Experience
After you’ve completed your training, the next step is to start teaching. It’s important to gain practical experience by teaching friends, family, or even volunteering at local yoga studios. Many yoga schools in India offer teaching placements for new graduates to give you a platform to start your teaching career.
Step 5: Consider Specialization (Optional)
While the 200-hour training will qualify you to teach yoga, many instructors choose to specialize further in areas such as prenatal yoga, children's yoga, therapeutic yoga, or yoga for athletes. If you feel drawn to a particular area of yoga, additional specialized certifications can enhance your skills and attract more students.
Step 6: Join the Yoga Community and Continue Learning
Yoga is an evolving practice, and continuous learning is a key part of being an effective instructor. Join yoga forums, attend workshops, and keep up with the latest research on yoga and health. Networking with other instructors, attending retreats, and even enrolling in advanced training courses will help you stay informed and inspired.
Step 7: Build Your Teaching Career
Once you feel confident in your abilities, you can begin teaching at yoga studios, resorts, or wellness retreats across India. Popular yoga destinations like Goa, Rishikesh, Kerala, and Pondicherry are home to numerous yoga schools offering both local and international teaching opportunities. Many yoga teachers also choose to travel internationally, spreading the wisdom of yoga while earning a living.
Yoga Classes in Goa: A World-Class Destination for Yoga
If you’re drawn to Goa, known for its tranquil beaches and spiritual atmosphere, it’s one of the best places to study yoga. Goa offers numerous yoga schools, each with a unique approach, so you can choose one that aligns with your philosophy. Some renowned schools in Goa offer immersive yoga teacher training and are renowned for their serene settings, making it an ideal environment to deepen your practice.
Some of the best yoga classes in Goa are:
Purple Valley Yoga: Known for its Ashtanga yoga teachings.
Yoga Magic: Offers both Hatha and Vinyasa classes, catering to all levels.
Yoga India Foundation: A great spot for beginners and advanced practitioners alike.
Goa offers the perfect blend of serene beaches, holistic healing, and yoga-focused communities. Whether you're looking to become a yoga teacher or simply deepen your practice, Goa is a fantastic place to begin your journey.
Step 8: Stay Committed to Your Practice
Being a yoga instructor is about more than just teaching poses – it’s about leading by example. Your students will look to you not only for physical guidance but for wisdom on living a balanced and peaceful life. Yoga encourages personal growth, and as you continue your journey as a teacher, stay committed to developing your own practice and embracing the deeper teachings of yoga.
Conclusion
Becoming a yoga instructor in India can be a transformative experience that connects you with both your inner self and a global community. Whether you're drawn to the peaceful shores of Goa, the spiritual hub of Rishikesh, or the tranquil atmosphere of Kerala, India is the perfect place to begin your journey as a yoga teacher. Follow these steps, find the right yoga teacher training program, and start your path to becoming a certified yoga instructor in India.
Remember, yoga is not just a profession; it’s a lifelong journey. So, embrace the practice with an open heart and watch how it transforms not only your life but the lives of your future students.

What’s the Best Time to Book a Villa in Goa?
Goa is one of India's top travel destinations, renowned for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and unique blend of Indian and Portuguese cultures. While this coastal paradise is popular year-round, the timing of your villa booking can make a significant difference in your experience. From weather conditions to tourist influx and budget considerations, multiple factors influence the best time to book a villa in Goa. Here’s a guide to help you decide when to book and get the most out of your trip.
1. The Peak Season: November to February
Weather: Goa’s peak season is from November to February. This period offers clear skies, cool evenings, and pleasant temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), making it ideal for beach outings and outdoor activities.
Festivals and Events: Peak season also aligns with some of Goa’s most celebrated festivals, like Christmas, New Year, and Carnival, drawing both local and international crowds. The energy is vibrant, with events and parties happening along the beaches and resorts.
Villa Demand and Prices: Due to the popularity of this season, villas in Goa are in high demand, and prices are often at their highest. If you’re planning a visit during this period, it’s wise to book your villa well in advance. Booking two to three months ahead can help you secure your desired accommodation and potentially even save on costs by avoiding last-minute surges.
2. Shoulder Season: March to May
Weather: March marks the beginning of the shoulder season, with temperatures rising slightly. By May, Goa’s weather can get hot, with daytime temperatures often reaching 35°C (95°F) or higher. This season might be too warm for some, but mornings and evenings remain pleasant.
Advantages of Booking in Shoulder Season: Since it’s less crowded, you’ll have more options when choosing a villa and can enjoy greater privacy on the beaches. Villa prices tend to drop, and you may find discounts as property owners look to attract visitors during this quieter time.
Things to Do: Goa’s early summer is a great time for early morning beach strolls, heritage walks, and exploring the quiet charms of Old Goa. If you don’t mind the heat, you’ll get to experience a more relaxed side of Goa, with fewer tourists around and more freedom to explore.
3. Monsoon Season: June to September
Weather: The monsoon season brings heavy rains and lush greenery, transforming Goa into a tropical paradise. The rains create a magical landscape, with the rivers swelling, waterfalls flowing, and greenery flourishing everywhere.
Villa Availability and Pricing: This is the low season for tourism in Goa, which translates to significantly lower villa rates. If you’re on a budget or prefer a more peaceful stay, booking a villa during the monsoon can offer a unique experience. However, some beach activities may be limited due to strong tides and safety regulations.
Unique Experiences: Monsoon season is perfect for exploring Goa’s hinterlands, with its spice plantations, wildlife sanctuaries, and cultural heritage sites. Many wellness resorts and villas offer monsoon packages that focus on rejuvenation and relaxation, including Ayurvedic treatments and yoga retreats. While you may encounter some rain, it’s a tranquil time to experience Goa.
4. Pre-Season: October
Weather: October marks the end of the monsoon season, and the weather starts to stabilize, with temperatures cooling down and rainfall decreasing.
Ideal Booking Period: October is one of the best months to book a villa if you’re looking for good weather without the peak-season crowd. Many tourists wait until November, making October a great time to enjoy the scenic beaches and landmarks before the season rush begins. Villas in Goa are often available at moderate prices, providing good value for those seeking a more private and relaxed atmosphere.
Activities and Attractions: The beaches reopen for watersports, and the coastal attractions are easily accessible. With clear skies and pleasant temperatures, October is ideal for both outdoor and cultural activities, such as visiting the Chapora Fort, Dudhsagar Waterfalls, and participating in local celebrations leading up to Diwali.
Tips for Booking Villas in Goa
Plan Ahead: The earlier you book, the better your chances of securing a villa that matches your preferences and budget, especially during the peak season.
Look for Deals: Many villas offer discounts during the off-season and pre-season. Keep an eye on promotions that provide excellent value.
Consider the Location: Goa has distinct regions, each offering a unique vibe. North Goa is known for its nightlife, while South Goa is quieter, with more secluded beaches. Choose a location based on your preferred activities.
Check Amenities: Villas in Goa come with various amenities, from private pools to beachfront access. Decide which amenities are important to you and select a villa accordingly.
Conclusion
The best time to book a villa in Goa depends on your travel preferences, budget, and the experiences you wish to have. For lively crowds and endless events, book during the peak season from November to February. If you’re after peaceful beaches and fewer tourists, consider the shoulder season or October, when the crowds are manageable, and the prices are lower. Monsoon season is for those who love nature and want a serene escape with a beautiful backdrop. No matter when you choose to visit, Goa has an abundance of stunning villas to ensure a memorable stay.
