What I played this month: October 2020, part 1/2
Part 2
I decided to include the prices this month. Note that they are the prices listed on steam europe so the prices may vary if you play on console or if you are in another country than mine.
All GIF are by me
Overland, 2019, developed and published by Finji, ~17 euros :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overland is a turned-based, survival game set in an apocalyptic future. You control a group of survivors trying to reach the west coast of the US by car. To do this you need to collect enough gas to reach the points of interest while avoiding strange looking zombie-animals.
The gameplay is inspired by games like X-COM. However, I feel like the game is mainly based on luck and not skills. Indeed, each map is generated randomly, which means you can have a map full of enemies or void of it. In my longest playthrough, I managed to play around 50 min without dying and I would say it was 80% luck and 20% skills. You also don’t do much apart from getting gas. The game tells you, you can repair your car, but in reality you can’t, you just have to change the car. You can’t kill the enemies since when you kill one, more respawn. You essentially collect gas and try to avoid the enemies. The characters are also generated randomly at each new game, and they all have the same (almost non existent) personality, which makes it difficult to get attached to them.
The biggest problem of the game is definitely the fact that the game is based on luck. If you are like me you may encounter a “lucky” part where you actually enjoy yourself. It really feels like every time you lose the game tell you, play again and you *might* enjoy yourself!
Overall I feel the game wasted his potential.
Night in the woods, 2017, developed by Infinite Fall and published by Finji, ~20 euros:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s a story based video game with little to no gameplay. You follow Mae Borowski, a 20 year old college dropout who went back to her childhood home because of her depression.
I fell in love with this game! I loved the characters, their relationship, their backstory, and the story in itself. I feel like the story and characters are really well written even if the first part of the game is quite slow paced. They were dialogues that made me laugh out loud, and others that made me cry. It’s been a while since a game managed to make me go through so many emotions, with so little time.
The only passages that I didn’t like were the dreams of Mae, I feel like they were too many and they were too similar to my taste. The last part of the game also differs a lot from the previous parts and touches on new subjects that I can’t go into without spoiling. I liked this last part even if I think sometimes the story was taking its sweet time (note that I don’t have much patience so take this with a grain of salt).
The story deals a lot with mental health subjects, mainly depression, this means the game might not be suitable for everyone. The story presents the point of view of Mae on depression, how she feels mainly, and how she reacts to it and how others react to it. The story isn’t about how she overcame depression but how she learned to leave with it and accept it, passing by a lot of ups and downs. Definitely worth your time and money!
The supper, 2020, developed and published by Octavi Navarro, free (or more on itchio):
Tumblr media
The Supper is a short (less than 20min) point and click game. You follow the story of Ms Appleton, an old cook, who hears a voice telling her to retrieve a treasure belonging to three odd pirates. To do this you need to cook three delicious meals for them. I love the atmosphere of the game, it's unique as well as creepy. I personally loved the character’s design. The point and click part is well done, each enigma makes sense, and is quite easy to understand even if for some items the hitbox is a bit small.
Overall a really nice game. I would love to play that kind of game with a longer story. Props to the guy who designed it!
Fahrenheit : The Indigo Prophecy (Remastered), 2015 (original out in 2005), developed and published by Aspyr, ~9 euros:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I knew this game was weird when I started it, but it’s a thing to hear about the weirdness of this game, and another to actually try it. So let me resume the story, as I understand it. The protagonist, Lucas, murder someone in a fit of madness. But, he didn’t really do it, because at the time he was controlled by a 2000 year old mayan oracle, which caused him to cut his wrist and saw giant bugs trying to kill him. This also awoke the power of the matrix in him, and he is now looking to understand what happened in order to clean his name, by bringing down the illuminati…. This is the script…. So yeah I don’t really know what to think about the plotline. The game is around 8 hours long and halfway through the game, the story takes a sudden shift. The stories go from taking it’s time and being vague to a full on magic show so yeah… The game is a QTE game. There is nothing much to say about the gameplay, it works but there are bugs, like needing to do circle around an object to interact with it, that kind of thing. Other than that some phases require your entire focus, you better not blink. Also from what I read the remaster version (that I played), is absolutely no different from the original version, which is honestly a problem. All of the gameplay bugs should have been resolved in the remaster, but they weren’t. I can accept the bug on the 2005 version but on the 2015 one not so much. I however really liked the cinematic style of the game, even if there again it causes camera problems. The camera is really close to the one we can find in the first Resident Evil but there were fewer bugs of camera in Resident Evil.
Where the Water Taste Like Wine, 2019, developed by Dim Bulb Games and Serenity forge, and published by Good Sheperd Entertainment, ~20 euros :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You enter a tavern and start playing poker. It's the last hand, there is only you and one other man playing, you sure you are going to win, what do you do? Well, you bet your soul with your blood, because who wouldn't, am I right? Oh, and you lost so the devil is now asking you to travel across the land looking for various stories. But you need the best of the best! To do that you need to find stories, observing the life around you, in order to exchange them with other characters, who will offer you better stories. There are different kinds of stories, funny, heartwarming, sad, spooky… All and all the game is just made of a lot of mini stories, some who are goods, others not so much…
There isn't much gameplay, you essentially walk across the countryside looking for something to happen. The narrators are really good and really give life to the stories, and so does the music. Other than that there isn't much to the game. It's a nice game to relax and hear some good stories but I wouldn't play it for hours on end. It's also the kind of game you need to play to see if it's a good fit for you, so try it out and see for yourself!
The haunted doll, 2019, developed and published by Anamik Majumdar, 0,79 ct:
Tumblr media
So… Well, the story is in the title. There isn't much to it, you are trying to flee a haunted doll. But you'll realize soon enough that this doll really isn't a problem at all since it doesn't attack you and you can easily bypass her. This totally destroyed the horror ambiance for me. Other than that, the level design doesn't change from one level to the other so that kills the point of having little to no light since you are always doing the same route. Another problem is the background around the doll given by several pages of text. I personally think it wasn't needed and kills the mystery around said doll. But the biggest problem for me is that I didn't manage to load my save! Also, there is a limited amount of saves (or so I think) and the game only keeps the first 8 ones and not the last ones (also the game automatically saves so yeah…).
I really liked the music and sound design though, I think they really go well with a horror game. I think the game would have been more terrifying if the doll was actively pursuing the player and not standing or moving on a pattern. I also think the maps should have been smaller and more diverse. The game has several problems but none of them are irreparable.

One of the reasons wolves are able to mold themselves into a group of sheep is because the sheep haven't fully separated themselves from the world. We entertain ourselves with the glories and extreme politics of the world that predators can begin to morph into communities because they see the vision of the sheperd is lost in the worldly culture we've adapted ourselves to. Our vision of the shepard is obscured by the stains on our coats that have become the stains of our eyes. If we are not constantly repenting our pelts of darkness begin to stain the whole community which in turn stains the whole world and we create an entryway for thieves and liars to come amongst us because we are not honest with our reality, we are not pushing towards growth outside of the culture we're stuck in. We allow liars to come into positions of power because we like the Israelites of old seek for a Savior who will present himself like a Knight in shining armor ready to conquer our enemies. When in fact, we already have a Savior; we already have a King. He is the Shepard and the Father. The missing piece of that puzzle to solve is not another politician or president, it is you. Everytime we try to point at the liar and the trouble maker outside of ourselves, or on a worldly stage, or in our own community, or our own inner circle God would point his fingers back towards you to align yourself with his doctrine and principles of righteousness because we know better than others. God holds his followers to a higher standard than the rest of the world.
To elect and believe in lies one must be a liar themselves. I have found this to be true of myself. I now ask myself pertinent questions. What is deception? Is this deception within me? I ask myself whose laws am I following? Am I truly following the Savior or am I getting lost with culture? Am I growing spiritually in truth and light or am I getting lost with the battles of the adversary whose sole job is to distract me from my purpose?
Luke 18
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
It takes faith to leave all that the world offers for Christ. The Law of Consecration is the stumbling block of many well-intended Christians. We don't have to be rich materialistically. We can become too rich intellectually and spiritually to make room for Christ to lead. Happiness and contentment has its own dopamine hits that can keep us in our own bubble like the rich young leader whom conversed with Christ. He felt he could not reach the next stage of requirement to see God in the next life, and so he left Christ to be content within his own Tabernacle of riches. It takes personal sacrifices to extend ourselves outside of the bubbles of content we've created even within our own communities. There cannot be order outside of the world without order within ourselves. Christ can't work mighty miracles within us if chaos ensues or comfort blockades personal growth.
Sometimes we ask how can I free myself and we look to others rather than looking within. If Christ has all power, we need to look within. If he says miracles are possible through him, we need to look within to make room for him to abide. All your answers to questions you need can be found at the mercy seat of Christ with your willingness to change at your own pacing with the Spirit. Christ is the Shepard we are meant to follow, so make no idol out of no man. We could easily stain our coats with the doctrine of men. We must stay focused on Christ.
Are you willing to give up everything you think you know to follow your Savior? Are you willing to make a trade off with the Savior? Trade-off what you think is right and ask your Savior to redirect your steps in the path that leads to eternal life. Can you begin with a new slate?
We ask many converts of the gospel if they can give up many of their habits to follow him, but can we do the same? Could we clear our own table and start over with Christ and keep him as our true Shepard? Do we know him not just intellectually but personally like the back of our hand? Many of our internal problems are not because Christ is absent from our lives but from our own inability to recognize him through a multitude of mediums he uses to speak directly to our situation at hand. The world can stain our idea of who Christ is. Culture that stems from society can bleed into the few and spread throughout the church blinding our vision by tampering with the sacrifice of Christ that has always been apart of the true doctrine even after his death. Intellectuals can steer so far from doctrine that they themselves will morph the idea of Christ to fit their comfort ideal Savior.
When I returned to church, went through the repentance stage and am still going through it's stages, I asked God what did he expect of me as I was crying about how hard my life had been. How could I stay in the church knowing what he had known? The answer was a simple, firm, but loving response in the form of a question, "Since when did I lower my standards for you when you were breaking?" It didn't take me a mili-second to answer that question though I felt astounded. The answer was never. Memories of all my blessings in church and from other Priesthood holders all aligned with my Patriarchal Order. God believed in me while many others didn't and I chose to believe the many others while Gods voice and message for me remained the same. I looked around at the wrong voices, some were unfortunately in the church, but instead of looking up towards my Savior and Father who were both firm in their expectations of me, I absorbed things that were not true of myself because I looked around instead of up. All things are truly possible through Christ. You would need a daily relationship with him that includes repentance and the power of his Atonement.
Who are we to deny God's power because of our weaknesses?

The Weekend Warrior Feb. 7, 2020 – BIRDS OF PREY: ETC. ETC.
Thank heavens that there’s only one new wide release this weekend, and just as thankfully, it’s a movie that could help revive an ailing box office that’s been all about Sony’s Bad Boys for Life, Universal’s 1917 and Dolittle for the past few weeks. I never got around to seeing last week’s Gretel and Hansel, and I might still if I have time, but The Rhythm Section wasn’t that bad, and it certainly shouldn’t have bombed as badly as it did, making less than $3 million in 3,000 theaters. Yup, last weekend wasn’t great, and it was only partially due to the Super Bowl.
Tumblr media
Clearly, it’s time to move on to this week with the first “superhero” movie of the year, the follow-up to one of DC Entertainment’s biggest outings but also meant to be its own thing, which is BIRDS OF PREY: AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF HARLEY QUINN (Warner Bros.). It stars recent Oscar nominee Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn, the Joker’s girlfriend/therapist, who is branching out on her own with her own supergirl group, which includes Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winsted), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Renée Montoya (Rosie Perez) and Cassandra Cain (at one point, called Batgirl), played by Ella Jay Basco.  Robbie first played the role in 2016’s Suicide Squad, which earned over $300 million domestic, which some might point to the popularity of Harley as a comic character, but you could also point to things like the fact it starred bonafide box office star Will Smith (whose most recent movie Bad Boys 2 is currently the biggest movie of the year. Birds of Prey also stars Ewan McGregor and Chris Messina, as two well-known Bat-villains, Black Mask and Victor Zsasz, making their big screen live action debuts.
Unlike Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey is Rated R as DC and Warner Bros. have seen the huge success of the recent Joker movie, as well as the two Deadpool movies as proof that R-rated comic book movies can still do well even without the teen and tween audiences that usually go to see them. Presumably, Birds of Prey will attract more women due to the characters, although I’m sure there will be some men who who are just as interested due to the connections to the DC Universe. I’m just not sure this will be as big a draw to men as some of those other movies. I’ll have my own review on the blog a little later today.
While I don’t think Birds of Prey will open as big as Joker– let’s face it, the characters therein just aren’t nearly as well known, even Harley – I do think it will do quite well, making somewhere in the $60 million range, maybe more if the reviews are as positive as the early raves that were posted last week. (Having seen the movie and with my review on the way, I don’t think it will fare that well among real critics. You can read my own REVIEW here.)
Either way, Birds of Prey will the weekend with relative ease, although we’ll have to see how Sunday’s Oscar celebration affects all the movies’ business towards the end of the weekend.
This week’s Top 10 should look something like this…
1. Birds of Prey, Etc. Etc (Warner Bros.) - $64.5 million N/A (up $1.9 million)*
2. Bad Boys for Life (Sony) - $9.7 million –45%
3. 1917 (Universal) - $6.3 million -35%
4. Dolittle  (Universal) - $4.7 million -40%
5. Jumanji: The Next Level  (Sony) - $3.7 million -38%
6. The Gentlemen (STXfilms) - $2.9 million -48%
7. Gretel and Hansel  (U.A. Releasing) - $2.8 million -55%
8. Little Women (Sony) - $2 million -35%
9. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Lucasfilm/Disney) - $1.7 million -46%
10. The Turning  (Universal) - $1.3 million -55%
* UPDATE: I lowered my prediction a bit after seeing the movie but seeing that reviews have mainly been positive, I think it will help the movie bring in more business before Sunday.
LIMITED RELEASES
Tumblr media
Two genre films that have been playing on the genre festival for the last year or so will open in select cities, the first being COME TO DADDY (Saban Films), the directorial debut by horror producer Ant Timpson, who was responsible for horror anthologies, The ABCs of Death and The Field Guide to Evil, as well as popular genre flicks Turbo Kid and The Greasy Strangler. In the movie, Elijah Wood plays Norval Grenwood, a young man called to the remote cabin of his estranged father (Stephen McHattie) who he hasn’t seen in 30 years, since his father walked out on his mother when he was just five years old. Once he gets there, he learns that his father is an abusive alcoholic, and yet, nothing is really what it seems. I saw this at the Tribeca Film Festival and mostly enjoyed it, and I really like Timpsons’s sensibilities as a filmmaker but it really starts to go off the rails as it goes along. Some will definitely enjoy that.
Tumblr media
Severin Fialla and Veronika Fanz, the Belgian filmmakers behind Goodnight Mommy, return with THE LODGE (NEON), a creepy thriller in which a couple kids (Lia McHugh, Jaeden Martell) go to a remote cabin near a lake for the Christmas holidays with their new stepmother (Riley Keough) after learning a lot more about her dark past before meeting their widowed father (Richard Armitage). There’s so much more to this movie than what you can see in the suitably eerie trailer, and I certainly will not spoiler any of the experience, although personally, I found this to be more of a downer than Hereditary, a movie that I absolutely loved. This one might take another viewing for me to really get behind it, but other than the performances, the overall look and eerie feel and the twists, it’s pretty dark and depressing, so I’m not 100% sure Id really want to see it again or can recommend it wholeheartedly.  Either way, both of these movies are opening at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn as well as other select cities.
Ben Cookson’s Waiting for Anya (Vertical), adapted from the novel by the same name from the author of War Horse, stars Noah Schnapp as Jo Lalande, a 13-yearold sheperd boy who joins with a reclusive widow (the amazing Anjelica Huston) to help smuggle Jewish children into Spain during World War II.
From Yash Raj Films comes this week’s Bollywood selection Mohit Suri’s Malang, starring Aditya Roy Kapoor as the introverted Advit, who visits Goa where he meets a free-spirited girl from London named Sara (Disha Patani), who has come to India to live like a vagabond or “Malang.” Something happens that changes as five years later, we meet a vigilante killer cop (Anil Kapoor) and a righteous cop (Kunal Kemmu)… And suddenly, I feel like I need to see this movie. It will probably open in 100 theaters or more.
STREAMING AND CABLE
Let’s start out with the Netflix offerings, beginning with the recent Sundance premiere, HORSE GIRL, the new film from Jeff Baena (The Little Hours, Life after Beth), co-written and starring Alison Brie as a socially awkward woman into horses and supernatural crime whose lucid dreams start infiltrating into her waking life. I haven’t seen it yet but I’m definitely interested in the premise, and I generally like Brie’s work.
I never really got into Joe Hill’s books/comics, but I’ll probably give the series LOCKE AND KEY a look when it debuts its first season on Friday. It involves three kids who move with their Mom to an ancestral estate where a series of keys unlock secrets and powers.
On Wednesday debuts the Netflix docuseries They’ve Gotta Have Us from Simon Frederick and Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY will premiere, looking at some of the important and iconic voices in Black Cinema.
If you haven’t had a chance to see DGA winner Alma Har’el’s Honey Boy, starring Shia LaBeouf, Lucas Hedges and Noah Jupe, based on Shia’s semi-autobiographical screenplay, then it will premiere on Amazon Prime this Friday.
Premiering on Hulu this Friday is Into the Dark: My Valentine, the latest horror feature from Blumhouse as part of this ongoing horror series, this one written and directed by Maggie Levin, who has directed a bunch of shorts. It involves a pop singer whose songs and identity are stolen by her manager ex-boyfriend and pasted on his new girlfriend, which comes to a head when they’re locked up in a small concert venue and things get violence.
REPERTORY
METROGRAPH (NYC):
If you went out to see Makoto Shinkai’s Weathering with You and enjoyed it but haven’t seen his previous movie Your Name (which is just as excellent) then you’re in luck cause the Metrograph is showing it a number of times starting Friday. Thursday might be your last chance to see the new 35mm print of Martin Scorsese’s 1977 film New York, New York unless it’s extended, but the Hal Hartley serieshas been extended through the weekend with reruns of Trust (1990), Simple Men (1992) and Amateur (1994), all good, but Trust is my favorite of those three. This week’s Welcome To Metrograph: Redux is a good one, Lars von  Trier’s 1996 film Breaking the Waves, which will screen Saturday and Sunday nights. This week’s Late Nites at Metrograph is Orson Welles’ The Lady from Shanghai (1947), while the Playtime: Family Matinee sselection is Amy Heckerling’s classic Clueless (1995).
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE BROOKLYN (NYC)
Wednesday might you can maybe get tickets for the “Weird Wednesday,” the Lone Wolf and Cub movie Shogun Assassin (1980) – I’ll be there for the 7pm screening. Thursday night is a screening of the 1932 Dorothy Arzner film Merrily We Go to Hell. On Monday, Video Vortex presents a J-Horror Bloodbath double feature of Demon Within and Biotherapy, both from 1985. ($5 admittance!) Next week’s “Terror Tuesday” is 1980’s Terror Train, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, and then next week’s “Weird Wednesday” is 1990’s White Palace, starring Susan Sarandon and James Spader, picked by Alamo programmer Christina Cacioppo, so you know it’s gotta be very weird! J

FILM AT LINCOLN CENTER (NYC):
On Friday, FilmLinc starts a new one-week series called “Dreamed Paths: The Films of Angela Shanelec,” and I honestly have no idea who that is. It’s a pretty comprehensive retrospective of the German filmmaker’s work, so I’m shocked that I’ve never seen a single one of her movies. Besides her work, the filmmaker will also be showing a few hand-selected films like Manoel de Oliveira’s I’m Going Home (2001), the Korean film The Day After and Maurice Pialat’s 1972 film We Won’t Grow Old (1972).

Tumblr media
The doors slid open and she walked out onto the bridge. I stepped out and stopped in my tracks. The Conquest was an impressive ship and its bridge was a sight to see. The room was oval shaped and the walls were lined with control stations that were responsible for sensor read outs of every part of the ship. There was a floor to ceiling monitor that showed the space station and part of the earth. Several feet in front of the monitor were three connected control stations. One for sensors, one for a pilot, and one for tactical control. Everything was sleek and smooth. The chairs in front of stations were similar to the Tango's except they were black. The floor was covered in a black carpet and the walls were a glossy white. The ceiling was a dome shape with a large circular light at the top. Then in the center of the bridge stood the command chair where the captain sat. It was black with arm rests that had control panels.
"Captain Schmidt, this is pilot Skyler." Joseph's voice brought me back from my amazement. I looked to see that my teammates stood in front of the captain's chair in a semi circle. I smiled at the captain and greeted him with a handshake. Captain Schmidt was tall and had dark skin with a sharp jaw line. He was strong too with a firm handshake.
"Welcome aboard, Miss." Captain Schmidt turned his attention to the Major.
"Are you set to depart, Major?" He asked
"Yes, Sir. All our gear is stowed and everyone except Skyler here has been shown their quarters." The Major said with professionalism.
"Very well then I will signal the Sheperd Space Station that we are ready to get underway. You are welcome to stay on the bridge or I can have someone show you around the ship." Captain Schmidt said with a smile. He wasn't formal like the other officers had been on the earth base. I saw the Major visibly relaxed his stance.
"That would be nice captain but I think for now some of us would like to get a bit of rest." He said as he looked at Julia who looked like she hadn't slept at all last night and it was catching up with her.
"I understand Major. Maybe after you are well rested my Second Officer can give you the tour." He said gesturing to Second Officer Joseph standing next to me.
"That would be great," Major said with one of his charming smiles.
"Of course all of you are welcome to join me and my Second Officer Joseph for dinner tonight," said Captain Schmidt. We said your thanks and we left for our quarters. Captain Schmidt had given the order to get under way and we were moving before we exited the elevator.
We were all on the same deck where the guest quarter was located. I was excited to finally have my own space after spending two months sharing. Second Officer Joseph was the one who showed to me to my quarters. When I walked in all my personal things were already there. The room was nice. It had three sections one for the bedroom, one for the living area, and a bathroom. The floor was white carpet and the walls were a smooth metal with cool yellow lights in the ceiling. The room was small but not uncomfortable. The living area had a couch build into the wall with a viewport looking out into space. There was also a chair and table for eating and a small desk in a corner. I walked to my left to find a glass bedside table next a simple queen sized bed already made and a door that led to a closet. I set my bags onto the bed and went to take a look at the bathroom. It was small but still had everything a girl needed. There was a single sink with a mirror and drawers to put things in. The best part of the bathroom was that it had a tub to soak in. Oh, that would be nice. I could use a good soak before dinner. It had been a while since I had a chance to soak in a tub. So I unpacked my things and then got in the tub. I was just starting to relax in the bubbles when my door chimed.
"JUST A MINUTE!" I yelled as I got out of the tub and grabbed a towel from the closet. I wrapped myself up and tried looking for a robe.
"Dammit! No robe." I cursed to myself. Oh well, I guess I open my door and just hope It's not Captain Schmidt. I went to the door and took a deep breath before pressing the button on the door frame to open it. The gray door slid open and there stood Major D'ivoire. He had been facing the other way waiting for the door to open and was surprised to turn around and see me in a towel.
"Skyler.?.?." He said with curiosity in his voice. His eyes wandered to the towel and then quickly back to my face. He raised his eyebrows as to question my wardrobe choice. There was nothing I could do about my wardrobe so instead of being embarrassed I gave the Major a mischievous smile.
"Major, I found the tub," I said with a smirk and raised my eyebrows as to challenge him to say more. I stepped to the side so he could enter.
"I see that," he said as he stepped into the room and the door closed behind him. "Did you enjoy yourself?" he asked.
"Yes, I actually did. Now stay here." I went into my bedroom and closed the door behind me. I started to get dressed when I heard the Major in the other room.
"Corbin has already left with Julia for the dinner and Jay has decided to have dinner with the security officer instead." his voice was slightly muffled through the door. I went into my closet pick something out. I had brought several nice dresses from formal to casual. I decided on a floor length blue dress with a cape like piece. I took a look in the mirror and smoothed out the dress. Well if a girl is going to dress up She might as well dress up.
Tumblr media
"So Why didn't you go with Corbin and Julia?" I shouted through the door.
"To be honest I kinda felt like a third wheel. I told them that I was going to make sure you weren't going to be late." He shouted back.
I chuckled at his response and attended to my hair. I left my red hair down and smoothed it out with my hair brush. My hair wasn't curly like my mom's hair was but it was straight and thick like my dad. It was nice and long and stopped shortly above my butt. Once I was satisfied with how I looked I walked out. When the door opened the Major stood from the couch where he was sitting. He looked me up and down and his eyes widened.
"Well, how do I look?" I asked after he failed to speak.
"You...look....amazing....I mean you look good. No wonder the name Blue fits you so well." He said recovering his composure.
"Thanks. You ready for dinner?" I asked heading towards the door. The Major was right behind me as I opened the door and walked through not waiting for his response.
Though I was already out in the corridor I managed to make out his response. "Absolutely."
Dinner was nice the Captian was a very entertaining host and the food was pretty good. Captain Schmidt had a chef on board who prepared all the food and he was rather talented. The conversation varied from our mission and what we might find to Captain's stories of exploring the stars. After dinner was finished I walked back with Julia to our rooms. She talked about Corbin and how flirty he was and how the ship had nice research equipment. Once we reached our quarters we said goodnight and parted ways. I got dressed for bed and did my nightly routine and found it easy to fall asleep among the stars.

Houston is home to many interesting activities and attractions.
The city offers things to do for outdoors enthusiasts (Buffalo Bayou), families (the Houston zoo and children's museum) and lovers of art (the unique Art Car Museum and superb Menil Collection). Shoppers will enjoy the massive Galleria and even have an impressive and sober Holocaust Museum Houston. Visitors can learn about the origins of "Houston, we've had a problem" and NASA's astronaut program at Space Center Houston or enjoy prehistoric exhibits and colorful butterflies at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. And we can't forget Tex-Mex: The city teems with superb Texas-Mexico fusion cuisine.
[toc]
1. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
In Houston, there's no better place to see riders than the Houston and Rodeo Breeding Show. As the season begins (usually from late February to early March), crowds flock to the NRG Stadium to see the daily rodeo showing a variety of competitions, such as horse riding, bull riding, wrestling. steering wheel, ramps, barrel racing and more.
Breeding programs, which also take place during the rodeo season, have traditional events such as pet auctions, scrambles, and horse shows.
2. Hermann Park
Those who want to feel like a local should take a trip to Houston's Hermann Park. The park borders several different city neighborhoods, attractions, universities, and local institutions, meaning you'll find plenty of green spaces and amenities that will appeal to all ages.
Hermann Park boasts a playground, pavilion, picnic area, lake, garden, golf course, children's train, pedal boat, and trails. Moreover, the park is also home to the Houston Zoo.
Besides the zoo, the McGitas Perennial Garden and Miller Outdoor Amphitheater are among the most popular attractions in the park. The McGitas centennial garden covers 8 acres and has 50 different species of plants as well as lots of flowers, shrubs and other greenery, including a rose garden and forest garden.
The Miller Outdoor Theater is an entertainment venue that features year-round movies, plays, performing arts, cultural presentations, and musical performances.
3. Houston Museum District
The expanded Houston museum is by far the city's largest cultural property. This district features 19 museums, which include popular spots such as the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, The Menil Collection and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Located south of Downtown Houston, The Museum District stretches from the southern edge of Midtown and includes Hermann Park. The area garners about 7 million visitors per year thanks to its diverse array of offerings and the fact that admission to 11 of the 19 museums available is free, year-round.
4. Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston
The astronauts were exchanged with control at this NASA space center, about 25 miles southeast of downtown Houston.
Opened in 1963 as the NASA human space center, the center still acts as one of the country's major space centers for personnel training, research and more. Travelers interested in learning a little more about the space center's history can check out the visitors center adjacent to the facility, Space Center Houston.
5. Houston Museum of Natural Science
Located in the Museum Area near the Houston Zoo, Museum of Fine Arts and the Genocide Museum, the Houston Museum of Natural Science offers numerous permanent exhibits. Visitors can explore everything from dinosaur fossils in paleontological halls to emeralds, rubies, and sapphires in gem vaults to interactive exhibits in the chemistry room.
The museum's galleries cover a wide range of topics, which is why this attraction is a popular site in Houston - there is something for everyone. The building also has a few special exhibits, such as the Astronomical Center and Cockrell Butterfly Center, although these have additional costs.
If you have to pick one, travelers say the butterflies are pretty impressive. Cockrell Butterfly Center is home to a rainforest sanctuary surrounded by glass with exotic flora and hundreds of colorful butterflies.
6. Buffalo Bayou
So no mistake, the name "Buffalo Bayou" refers to the entire 52-mile waterway starting from Katy, Texas, and going to the River Oaks area of Houston. The 10-mile stretch from Sheperd Drive to the Port of Houston Turning Basin is a popular place for outdoor recreation.
Recently, the stretch of Buffalo Bayou from Sheperd Drive to Sabine Street underwent a complete restoration: $58 million was put in to revitalize the area by reintroducing natural landscapes, updating hiking and walking trails and more.
The park is also home to fascinating restored elements, such as The Water Works building, made from a 4-acre abandoned city water system. Today, it is a popular hub for outdoor events and concerts as well as food trucks.
It is also home to public toilets and bike rental facilities. You'll also find a water tank there: Houston's first underground drinking water reservoir has been transformed into an interesting public space.
7. Minute Maid Park
Minute Maid Park, home to Houston Astros of Major League Soccer, is another popular spot during the summer months in Houston. And, as most visitors will testify, you get much more than a ballgame when you buy tickets to the park.
Tourists say that after being hot outside in Texas, the air-conditioned stadium (and roof) is a great relief. Some people also suggested trying to catch a game during the night of the fireworks, because the show was impressive.
Those on the lookout for unique ballpark eats won't be disappointed either. The park offers a wide selection of classics from ballpark classics (like sausages and nachos) to healthy salad bars to Astros Melt (two grilled cheese sandwiches with SPAM and American cheese on Texas toast).
8. The Menil Collection
The Menil Collection is a 30-acre art collection gathered by Jean and Dominique de Menil. The permanent collection has 10,000 pieces of art collected by the couple from the 1940s to the late 90s. The exhibition covers everything from African and Byzantine artworks to a collection of works. Native American art from the Pacific Northwest.
The collection also houses an impressive collection of modern art, which the museum calls a "spiritual aspiration in the abstract ambition of modern art". Over decades of photography, impressions, surrealism, and sculpture this part of the collection is a repeat visitor's favorite.
Because of its emphasis on how art affects spirituality, The Menil seeks to provide a quiet and contemplative environment for people to view the collection. As such, photography is not allowed in galleries but is welcome in entertainment rooms and corridors (without flash).
9. Holocaust Museum Houston
If you're looking for an educational stop to add to your journey, consider the Houston Genocide Museum. The exhibits include everything from footage taken during World War II and inside concentration camps to a wagon in 1942 to transport victims.
But the museum also tells of resistance efforts, and in the end, exhibits a Danish fishing boat that has rescued more than 7,000 Danish Jews from their deaths.
Recent visitors said the museum was specially designed, adding that the exhibits are thought-provoking and informative.
10. Children's Museum of Houston
This museum, like its name, is all for the little ones. Exhibits include Tot * Spot, for children up to 35 months of age, complete with mirrors and ball holes and pillows.
Older children will enjoy exhibitions such as the Invention Conference, a small engineering workshop or EcoStation, an indoor/outdoor area where children can do everything, from collecting bugs to brushes rubbing leaves.
Then there's the FlowWorks interactive exhibit where kids can play water games and stand in the middle of an 18-foot Cauldron (perfect for those hot summer days). The museum's most popular exhibition is Kidtropolis: a small city for children, run by kids who imitate a real city. Children can get a job, get paid, sit in the city council, shop for goods and more.

The 14th International Risotto Festival
TOP CHEFS TO COMPETE IN HOUSTON’S INTERNATIONAL RISOTTO FESTIVAL NOVEMBER 10, 2019
Popular culinary event to raise monies for BEAR & Houston’s CPS Kids
HOUSTON, TX (October 21, 2019) – Fans of fine food and wine are cordially invited to attend one of Houston’s finest culinary festivals. The 14th International Risotto Festival will be held on Sunday, November 10 from 2 to 6 pm at The Houston Design Center. One of Houston’s finest gourmet food festivals, this event includes an afternoon of delicious Italian foods prepared by some of Houston’s greatest chefs along with fantastic wines PLUS music and entertainment, exotic cars, a charity auction, activities for kids and VIP book signing with acclaimed Chef Chris Shepherd.
Some of Houston’s top chefs will be competing in this year’s competition including Danieal Berg – b.b.italia, Scotty Campbel – Bertazzoni, Nat Campbell – Chef de La Vie, Francisco Casetta – Casetta Catering, Angelo Cuppone – Roma, Fadi Dimassi – Fadi’s Mediterranean Grill, Maurizio Ferrarese – Ristorante Cavour at Hotel Granduca, Nick Fine – Underbelly Hospitality, Patrick Guererra – The Art Institute, Dillon Kao – Ol’ Railroad Cafe, Brandi Key – Alice Blue, Jeff Samoska – Local Group Brewing, Lulzim Shimaj – 51fifteen Cuisine & Cocktails, Laura Taylor – Bisou Continental Cuisine, Johnny Wesley – Poitin Bar & Kitchen, and Ja’Nel Witt – Sonoma in the Heights.
This year The International Risotto Festival will benefit BEAR…Be A Resource for CPS Kids. BEAR is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that provides hope and help for abused and neglected children and the caseworkers who protect them within Harris County. Each year approximately 16,000 children are involved with Child Protective Services (CPS) in Harris County. Unfortunately, more than 1,000 of these children are removed from their homes under emergency conditions. When these kids are placed in temporary care, the small stipend the County is able to provide may not cover all of the child’s expenses. Some expenses such as hygiene items, clothing, school supplies, “extras” like holiday gifts and funds to set up a kid graduating from high school are a real stretch for some families. This is where BEAR steps in…BEAR’s programs serve children in the care of CPS throughout Harris County by providing emergency supplies: diapers, clothes, shoes, car seats and cribs, formula, school uniform/supplies, and more. Costa Blanca Bowls Roundup WE 10 November 18
Country Bowls Club by Jo Richardson The Flamingos travelled to Greenland’s on Monday in good spirits. Our old sister club is blessed with some fine bowlers and so the morning progressed with each rink being keenly contested. By early afternoon, however, the game had taken on a different look and the Flamingos went on to record another fine away win. Results are; Rink 4 – Sylvia Rennie, Dave Smith and Jim Rennie 11 – 21, Rink 5 – Pat Ray, Peter Robins and Brian Ray 30 – 21, Rink 6 – Ben Noke, Pat Emmet and Ray Emmet 20 – 13, Rink 7 – Dennis Wade, Les Turner and Phil Warrington 20 – 21, Rink 8 – John Jukes, Derek Jiggins and Geoff Paylor 23 – 28 Friday saw the Gecko’s arriving at the club to a green that had experienced a wild hailstorm through the night and Graham, the owner of Country Bowls, working the carpet brush to clear the sitting water and make the green playable. After a couple of hours of hard work the game was back on. San Miguel were tough opposition coming to Country Bowls from a great win against the top of the league team Mazarron Miners. The Gecko’s played hard and fought to the end in very difficult high winds resulting in a great win. The Gecko’s winning teams were Pat Patton, Den Wade and Brian Patton. 26 – 10, Ben Noke, Pat Ray and Brian Ray. 22 – 18, And Brenda Jiggins, Derek Jiggins and Ray Emmet. 18 – 13. With a total of 95 shots against San Miguel on 88,the Gecko’s enjoyed a welcome 8 – 4 win. Our second game on Friday were the Cubs away to Vista Bella Conquistadors on a very windy afternoon. Whilst the bowls ran straight on one hand and swung far on the other, it took both teams all their skills and talent just to play to the jack. A closer game could not have been predicted with Country Bowls taking the shot difference of 6 and winning on 3 rinks. Overall score 8 – 4 to the Cubs. Winning rinks Joel Fernandez, Craig Dyson and Andy Bryce, Chris Stevens, Dot Davies and Peter Robins, and lastly Rob Hallam, Dave Smith and Niel West. A great week for Country Bowls, congratulations Cubs on a great win. Onwards and upwards. Peter Parsons, Don Fowkes and Barbara Forshaw had admirable draw at 20 – 20. Then away went the Pathfinders to play Vistabella  Eagles and came away 12 – 0 winners much to the delight of Captain Jean  Perchard and Hubby Terry who won 18 – 11 with  help from Margaret Sadler. Not to be out done Barry Sadler, Dave McGaw and Desna Lowe won 26 – 14. Dave Hadaway, Bernie Carr and Jean Tregoing won 18 – 12 while John Withers, Mike Lowe and  Reg Jackson managed one less 17 – 12.  Garth Slater, Paul Tregoing and Trevor Hancock had a nice 22 – 14 win.  This puts the Pathfinders at the top of the Discovery League. Tuesday was Race Night; It started out as Rat Racing and has since progressed to its present form of Monkey Racing. I daren’t comment how it got that name.  Over eighty people attended and it was an extremely funny and jovial evening with all punters having a great time. Sue Freeman was the overall Champion Jockey closely followed by Trevor Hancock.  Thanks to all members who put in the time and effort to make it such a success.  Not much success in the Winter league when we travelled up to Javea being beaten 10 – 2.  Our winning rink was Don Fowkes, Peter Parsons, Jean Fowkes and Jan Parsons, well done to them.  Come Friday and in the Southern League Div  A the Ospreys cut the Greenland Oaks down to size with a 12 – 0 whopping.  Rumour has it that the Captain might not get another game this year the way things are going. Roy Hart, Don Fowkes and Barbara Forshaw won 31 – 9.  Peter Parsons, Wendy Latham and Anne Stone 18 – 15 winners.  Mike Stone (the man in form), Cliff Rawlinson and Janet Parsons had a fine 15 – 10 win.  Alex Whyte, Jim Reeves and Kathy Manning came back to win 23 – 18.  Shirley Hadaway, Phil Pape and Margaret McLaughlin had a good win 21 – 10. COSTA BLANCA BOWLS ROUNDUP 6 MARCH 17
LA MARINA REPORT BY BARRY LATHAM
The Pathfinders found their way with great win of 10-4 at home against Monte Mar in the Discovery Division. John Rae, Bernie Carr and Mick Fitzgerald 19-13. John Mallet, John Morgan and Gina Hindle 20-8. Colin & Lynne Armitage and Peter Bailey 18-8. David Taylor, Dave McGaw and Lorita Rae 18-13.
The Explorers travelled to play Quesada Pearls but met a strong team and lost 10-4 although they only narrowly lost the overall score by six shots. Our winners came from Peter Parsons, Phil Pape and Carol Smith plus Alex Whyte, Shirley Hadaway and Janet Parsons.
Winter League at home to BBC and although we lost, it wasn’t a disaster as we achieved four points. Colin Armitage, Dave Taylor, Richard Robinson and Lynne Armitage beat that brilliant Jeff Richards. One of our oldest players, Alan Castle led his rink of Phil Pape, Carol Smith and Kathy Manning to an 18-16 win. The Berleen Boys did it again winning by one. So well done Alex Whyte, Jim Freeman, Mike Surch and Dave Bulfield.
Friday here again and little trip down the road for the Dolphins to play La Manga Crusaders and they surprised a few folk by getting four points. Don Harrison, Reg Jackson and Trevor Hancock a 16-11 win and the travellers return, Barry & Margaret Sadler that is plus Garth Slater with a two shot advantage. Well done the Dolphins.
The Seagulls at home to the San Miguel Cougars lost in a very close game by two shots. Our top rink was Dave Taylor, Gina Hindle and Lynne Armitage. The other two winning rinks won by just one shot each so well done Terry Perchard, Berni Carr and Barbara Forshaw plus John Morgan, Clive Pratt and Dave Bulfield.
The Sharks are the tops this week with a 14-0 beating at home of the San Luis Tigers. Should just about get all the triumphant names in. So well done Alex Whyte, Dave Hadaway, and Maureen Kidd. Dave Lewis, Jim Manning and Margaret McLaughlin. Margaret & Rob Finlayson plus Hilary Cronk. Peter Parsons, Tom Spencer and Andy Bartlett. Alan Castle, Phil Pape and Janet Parsons. And our top lot, Shirley Hadaway, John Mallett and Kathy Manning.
EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB.
The Pintos started their week with a home fixture against La Siesta Apollos and what a glorious day it was. It was a tight match on play, with most of us I think playing some good woods, but also some that we could hardly believe, a little tricky I think. But we did hold off the opposition to take the rinks 5-1 and the overall shots. Meanwhile the broncos were playing away at Horadada against the Falcons and had a tough match, but played well enough to come away with 2 rinks, always a good away result.
Friday found the Mustangs playing at Quesada against the Swifts and a very pleasant morning it was in good company. As you would expect the Swift took advantage of the home mat, but the Mustangs did manage to come away with 2 rinks and not a great deficit in overall shots. June Whitworth, Jane Hamill and Stew Hamill 20-22. Bob Morgan, Keith Cunningham and David Whitworth 15-18. Ann Taylor, Malc Sykes and Jim Gracie 12-21. Irene Thomson, Jim Taylor and Eddie Thomson 18-14. Barbara Jones, Sheila Cooper and Geoff Jones 8-22. Henry Ryder, Jan Bright and Richard Lee 21-11.
Meanwhile the Raiders entertained Greenland Cedars and both played well to take 3 rinks each, with the Raiders taking the overall shots by a small margin. Gill Bartlett, Bob Easthope and Rob Clark 19-12. Ann C Taylor, Shirley Edwards and Bob Taylor 21-13. Pam Harris, Malc Elmore and Brian Harris 23-7. Marion Haynes, Diane Yates and Dave Haynes 12-14. Ria Dukker, Peter Blackburn and Keith Longshaw 14-20. Tricia Elsam, Tony Robinson and Graham Day 11-28. The Apollos travelled to the notoriously difficult El Rancho rink to play the Pintos and only managed to win on one rink. Our winning rink was Beryl Styring, Norman Adcroft and Alex Morrice who mastered the conditions to win by 18 shots to 13.The overall shots score being 85-131.However, despite this loss the Apollos still have a good chance of finishing as league runners up.
The Pioneers entertained the Emerald Isle Moonrakers and in a close contest the rinks were shared with Moonrakers picking up the overall score by 109 shots to 96. The winning rinks for La Siesta were Hilary Clarke, Molly Russell and Rab Logan 31-8, Penny Porter, Alan Ralph and John Clarke 20-12 and in a nailbiting finish Ken Stringfellow, Rod Edgerton and Johnnie Ryder won by a single shot 19-18.

The Hoopoes were away against league leaders San Luis and won on a single rink thereby gaining 2 points. The winning rink was Robert and Ann Heath together with Tony Dalton and John Ball. Barbara and Bill Cooper with Sue Jordan and Mike Edwards needed a hot shot on the final end to gain a valuable draw, and they nearly managed it getting 7 on the final end, thereby losing to a single shot.

COSTA BLANCA BOWLS ROUNDUP - 25 FEB 17
EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB
The Pintos, on Monday, played host to the Greenland Sycamores on a horrendous day for bowls, with a strong gusting and cold wind. But the Pintos having the advantage of the home mat, adjusted to the conditions sooner than their worthy opponents and took 5 rinks and the overall shots, well worth getting out of bed for.
Meanwhile the Broncos travelled to the Emerald Isle to play the Moonrakers in very difficult conditions on an away mat, but although they came away without a point, the ones I spoke to this morning had enjoyed the experience and one or two had been close matches.
Friday morning brought the Vistabella Conquistadors to El Rancho to play the Raiders, alas the opposition failed to provide a full team and conceded one rink, but took two, and hence the Raiders took the points by 10-4. Helga Schiffman, Gill Bartlett and Rob Clark drew the conceded rink and I am sure would rather have played. Pam Harris, Malc Elmore and Brian Harris 19-14. Marion Haynes, Diane Yates and Dave Haynes 13-18. Edward Elsam, Tony Robinson and Graham Day 18-10. Ngaio  Baldwin, Bob Easthope and Gary Newson 23-14. Tricia Elsam, Peter Blackburn and Keith Longshaw 16-23.
In the afternoon the Mustangs played host to the Emerald Isle Claymores, struggled a little without complaint, to master the speed of the mat. Though they played well and took 2 rinks, although some of the scores had large points differentials, the game play was close.  Judy Foley, Keith Cunningham and Geoff Jones 15-10. Barbara Jones, Sheila Cooper and Jane Hamill 15-22. Ann Taylor, Malc Sykes and Jim Gracie 34-8. Irene Thomson, Jim Taylor and Eddie Thomson 33-7. Maxine Wright, John Skipper and Rod Wright 14-21. Henry Ryder, Jan Bright and Richard Lee 26-6. For membership details contact Brian Taylor on 965077093 or  at [email protected] or Carolyn Harris on 966774316 or at [email protected]

LA MARINA REPORT BY BARRY LATHAM
This week has started off a bit like last week. Oops. The Explorers wended their way to the place on the hill only to lose 11-3 at Vistabella Albatrosses. I’m sure there is a saying about Albatross. Margaret & Rob Finlayson plus Maureen Kidd managed a draw, Jim & Kathy Manning and Reg Jackson drew while our winning rink comprised of Dave Hadaway, Arthur Cronk and the inevitable Anne Stone.
Next came the Pathfinders who went to play at San Miguel Comets and lost 10-4. Two winners were John Rae, Mick Fitzgerald and Lynne Armitage 18-10 and David Taylor, Dave McGaw and Lorita Rae 22-16.  Hooray for the Raes.
Okay so they don’t need us, extra holiday then. Well done to the Winter League at home versus San Miguel with a10-2 win. John Mallet, Peter Parsons, Roger Stacey and Maureen Kidd won19-15; the Armitages  and the Taylors combined together to get 25-12 win; Dave Hadaway with his happy girls, Kathy Manning, Barbara Forshaw and Janet Parsons won18-15 and Alan Castle, Phil Pape, the Butlers won 22-9. No mention of Anne. San Miguel won the Berleen.
What a good Friday. All three teams winning. The Sharks played away against Vistabella Lanzadores and a close game it was, one rink drew, two others lost by one and one won by a lot. The big winner was Alan Castle, Phil Pape and Janet Parsons 32-6. The other winners were Margaret and Rob Finlayson and Hilary Cronk; Alex Whyte, Dave Hadaway and Dave O’Sullivan while the ones who drew were Roy Hart, Peter Parsons and Andy Bartlett.
The Dolphins entertained La Siesta Blues and won a closely fought match with the two points for the overall score. John Rae, Dave McGaw and Roger Stacey won 18-15; Brian Duff, Martin Butler and Maria Duff won 19-11 while John and Shirley Withers and Angela Butler made sure we won the overall with a 27-6 win.
Last but not least the Seagulls nearly got their revenge when La Manga Crusaders visited us. 12-2 winners we were. Len Daniels, Steve Hindle and Berni Carr 29-12; Keep it in the family, Sue Daniels, Mike Stone and Mo Taylor 32-11; John Morgan, Clive Pratt and Dave Bulfield 31-6; Colin Armitage, Arthur Cronk and Anne Stone 23-10; Dave Taylor, Gina Hindle and Lynne Armitage 22-15.
LA SIESTA BOWLS CLUB BY ROD EDGERTON
The week began with no fixture for the Pioneers and so the only match involved the Apollos who had a home match,in very windy weather, against Emerald Isle Neptunes.Despite convincing wins for Barbara and Jack Cooper with Vic Mahomet 32-6 and Irene Laverick with Pat and Brian Harman 20-12 the only other point came from Ann and Robert Heath who rescued a draw 18-18 with a final end getting four shots. The overall shots being 97-110.The points 9 to the Isle 5 to La Siesta.
Mixed fortunes in The Fed 4’s with the Hoopoes gaining a 6-2  home win against Montemar whilst the Parakeets lost away at Horadada by the same scoreline. Wins for the Hoopoes came from Rod Edgerton,Bill Jordan with Florence and Mike Edwards 23-7 and by Val Dalton,Norman Adcroft Jack Cooper and George Richardson 18-14 whilst Ann and Robert Heath with Tony Dalton and Vic Mahomet lost by a single shot. The winning rink for the Parakeets,in tricky conditions, at Horadada came from Joy and Brian Gardiner with Tony Campbell and Jean Cooper 17-14.
The Winter League saw the visit of Vistabella to our home and they gained revenge from the reverse fixture with a 10-2 win. Our winning rink was Joy Gardiner,Trish Reilly with Bill and Sue Jordan who won 25-15.Bad luck for the rink of Ann Edgerton, Jack Cooper,Pat Reilly and Mike Edwards who lost by a single shot in a match that was in doubt until the skips delivered their last bowl.
The Blues travelled to La Marina to play the Dolphins and suffered a narrow 8-6 reverse the shots score being a close 85-93. Winning rinks for La Siesta were Ann and Robert Heath with Pat Harman 23-9,Joy Gardiner,John Taylor and Jean Cooper 16-8 and Barbara Cooper,Vic Mahomet and Mike Edwards 14-12.
Not such good news for the Golds who lost their away match at Emerald Isle Outlaws without recording any winning rinks. On the day they faced some excellent bowling by their opponents.
Finally, some good news to report one of our stalwart members Roy Millward is at last out of hospital and on his way to recovery, although not yet available to receive visitors. We look forward to seeing both him and Sheila back on the rink as soon as possible.
