Jaggery-Infused Laddoos: A Traditional Treat for Modern Moms
Motherhood is a beautiful journey filled with joy, challenges, and moments that require strength and resilience. One of the key challenges that new moms face is maintaining their energy levels and health while caring for their newborn. Nutrition plays a crucial role in supporting recovery and well-being after childbirth, and one timeless solution is Jaggery Laddoos—a traditional Indian sweet made from natural ingredients that offer incredible health benefits for modern moms.
Jaggery Laddoos are not just a delightful treat but also a powerhouse of nutrition, designed to nourish the body with essential vitamins, minerals, and energy. Infused with the goodness of jaggery, ghee, dry fruits, and whole grains, these laddoos have been a go-to postpartum snack for generations of mothers. Let’s explore how these laddoos continue to meet the needs of modern moms while honoring the rich traditions they come from.
The Power of Jaggery: Nature's Sweetness
Jaggery, also known as "gur" in many parts of India, is a natural sweetener made from sugarcane juice or palm sap. Unlike refined sugar, which is stripped of its nutrients, jaggery retains essential minerals like iron, magnesium, potassium, and calcium, making it a much healthier alternative. Jaggery Laddoos provide sweetness without the harmful effects of refined sugar, offering new moms a guilt-free indulgence that supports recovery.
Here are a few reasons why jaggery is a perfect ingredient for postpartum nutrition:
1. Boosts Energy Levels
After childbirth, new moms often feel fatigued and depleted due to the physical demands of pregnancy, labor, and breastfeeding. Jaggery Laddoos provide a quick energy boost thanks to their natural sugar content. Unlike refined sugar, which causes sudden spikes and crashes in energy, jaggery releases energy slowly, keeping moms energized for longer periods.
2. Rich in Iron
Many women experience a dip in haemoglobin levels after childbirth, leading to postpartum anaemia. The iron content in jaggery helps replenish haemoglobin and supports red blood cell production, reducing fatigue and promoting overall vitality. Consuming Jaggery Laddoos regularly can help prevent iron deficiency and keep new moms feeling stronger.
3. Improves Digestion
Digestive issues are common after childbirth, with many women experiencing constipation or bloating. Jaggery acts as a natural digestive aid, helping to stimulate the digestive enzymes and reduce bloating. It also promotes smooth bowel movements, ensuring that moms feel more comfortable during their recovery.
4. Detoxifies the Body
Jaggery is known for its ability to cleanse the body of toxins. It purifies the blood, improves liver function, and helps flush out harmful substances, making it a great addition to the postpartum diet. By incorporating Jaggery Laddoos into their daily routine, modern moms can enjoy a natural detox that enhances their overall health and well-being.
Why Jaggery Laddoos Are Perfect for Postpartum Moms
Jaggery Laddoos are more than just a sweet treat—they are a complete package of nutrition and energy, carefully designed to meet the postpartum needs of modern moms. The combination of jaggery, ghee, nuts, seeds, and whole grains creates a superfood that promotes recovery, supports lactation, and provides sustained energy.
1. Promotes Healing and Recovery
The postpartum period is all about healing and restoring the body after the strain of childbirth. Ghee, a common ingredient in Jaggery Laddoos, is rich in healthy fats that support tissue repair and strengthen the joints. It also lubricates the intestines, aiding in digestion and helping new moms feel lighter.
Additionally, ingredients like gond (edible gum) found in many Jaggery Laddoos are known to promote tissue regeneration and boost bone health. These traditional ingredients help the body heal from the inside out, making Jaggery Laddoos a must-have for postpartum recovery.
2. Supports Lactation
For breastfeeding mothers, adequate nutrition is essential to ensure a steady supply of milk. Certain ingredients in Jaggery Laddoos, such as fenugreek seeds, sesame seeds, and flaxseeds, are known to enhance milk production. These natural galactagogues help new moms provide the best nourishment for their babies while keeping their own health intact.
3. Balances Hormones
The postpartum period is often marked by hormonal fluctuations, which can impact a mother’s mood, energy levels, and overall well-being. The healthy fats and omega-3 fatty acids found in ingredients like flaxseeds and walnuts in Jaggery Laddoos help balance hormones, promoting emotional stability and reducing the risk of postpartum depression.
Healthy Ingredients in Jaggery Laddoos
The magic of Jaggery Laddoos lies in their simple yet nutritious ingredients, each of which contributes to postpartum health and well-being. Let’s take a closer look at the key ingredients that make these laddoos so beneficial for modern moms:
Jaggery: A natural sweetener loaded with iron and essential minerals, jaggery helps boost energy, improve digestion, and support postpartum recovery.
Ghee: Rich in healthy fats, ghee supports tissue repair, lubricates joints, and aids in digestion, making it a vital ingredient for postpartum nutrition.
Dry Fruits (Almonds, Cashews, Walnuts): These are packed with protein, healthy fats, and essential vitamins that boost energy and promote healing.
Flaxseeds: A great source of omega-3 fatty acids, flaxseeds support hormone balance and promote lactation.
Sesame Seeds: High in calcium and iron, sesame seeds help strengthen bones and support milk production in breastfeeding mothers.
Fenugreek Seeds: Known to enhance lactation, fenugreek seeds are commonly used in postpartum recipes to support breastfeeding.
How to Incorporate Jaggery Laddoos into Your Daily Routine
Jaggery Laddoos are a versatile snack that can easily be incorporated into a new mom’s daily diet. They can be enjoyed as a quick breakfast with a warm glass of milk, as a mid-morning snack to keep energy levels up, or as a dessert after a meal. Consuming one or two laddoos per day is usually sufficient to meet nutritional needs without overloading on calories.
For moms who prefer convenience, many brands now offer ready-made Jaggery Laddoos that maintain the traditional recipe while catering to modern lifestyles. These laddoos are made with high-quality, organic ingredients, ensuring that moms get the best nutrition without any added preservatives or refined sugars.
Conclusion
In today’s fast-paced world, modern moms often find it challenging to prioritise their own health while juggling the demands of motherhood. Fortunately, Jaggery Laddoos provide a delicious and nutritious solution that bridges the gap between tradition and modern convenience. With their rich combination of natural sweeteners, healthy fats, and nutrient-dense ingredients, Jaggery Laddoos offer new moms a delicious way to rebuild their strength, support lactation, and boost overall well-being.
So, whether you’re a new mom or looking for a healthy, energising snack, Jaggery Laddoos are the perfect blend of tradition and nutrition—helping you stay strong, energised, and nourished through every stage of motherhood.

Rehabilitation for Alcohol: How it Works and Why it’s Effective
Alcohol addiction is a pervasive problem affecting millions of individuals and their families worldwide. Breaking free from its grip can feel overwhelming, but the good news is that professional alcohol rehabilitation offers a proven pathway to recovery. This blog will delve into the process of alcohol rehabilitation, its stages, and why it remains one of the most effective methods for overcoming addiction.
Understanding Alcohol Rehabilitation
Alcohol rehabilitation is a structured program designed to help individuals detoxify their bodies, address the underlying causes of addiction, and develop skills for long-term sobriety. Unlike trying to quit alcohol on your own, rehabilitation centers provide a safe, supportive, and professionally managed environment.
Rehabilitation programs are typically tailored to the individual, ensuring that the unique physical, psychological, and emotional aspects of their addiction are addressed.
The Process of Alcohol Rehabilitation
The journey through alcohol rehabilitation typically involves several key stages, each playing a crucial role in recovery:
1. Assessment and Intake
The first step in any rehabilitation program is a thorough assessment. During this stage:
Medical professionals evaluate the severity of addiction, physical health, and mental well-being.
A personalized treatment plan is developed to cater to the individual’s specific needs.
This phase helps build trust and set realistic goals for recovery.
2. Detoxification (Detox)
For individuals with a dependence on alcohol, detoxification is often the next step. This process involves:
Eliminating Alcohol from the Body: Detox helps the body clear alcohol from the system, preparing it for the therapeutic phases of rehab.
Managing Withdrawal Symptoms: Withdrawal can be challenging, with symptoms like anxiety, tremors, nausea, and in severe cases, seizures. At a rehab center, detox is conducted under medical supervision to ensure safety and comfort.
Medications, If Required: Sometimes, medications are administered to ease withdrawal symptoms or reduce cravings.
Detox is a critical phase that lays the foundation for long-term recovery by stabilizing the individual physically.
3. Skill Development and Education
One of the key goals of alcohol rehabilitation is equipping individuals with the tools they need to avoid relapse. This stage often includes:
Life Skills Training: Managing stress, improving communication, and rebuilding relationships.
Relapse Prevention Education: Recognizing triggers and developing strategies to cope with cravings.
Healthy Lifestyle Habits: Incorporating fitness, mindfulness, and nutrition into daily routines to support overall well-being.
Why Alcohol Rehabilitation is Effective
Rehabilitation centers are widely regarded as one of the most effective ways to overcome alcohol addiction. Here’s why:
1. Comprehensive Approach
Rehabilitation programs address addiction from multiple angles — physical, emotional, and psychological. This holistic approach ensures that the root causes of addiction are tackled, not just the symptoms.
2. Professional Guidance
Trained medical professionals and therapists guide individuals through each phase of recovery. Their expertise minimizes risks during detox, provides tailored therapeutic solutions, and helps patients stay on track.
3. Structured Environment
Rehab centers offer a structured environment free from distractions and negative influences. This helps individuals focus entirely on recovery without the temptations or triggers of daily life.
4. Peer Support
Being surrounded by others facing similar challenges fosters camaraderie and encouragement. Sharing experiences in group settings helps individuals feel understood and less isolated.
5. Long-Term Strategies
The skills, coping mechanisms, and lifestyle changes learned during rehabilitation equip individuals to manage life’s stresses without turning to alcohol. Aftercare programs further reinforce these lessons, ensuring sustained recovery.
Choosing the Right Rehabilitation Center
Selecting the right rehab center is crucial for a successful recovery. When evaluating a facility, consider the following:
Reputation and Expertise: Look for centers with a proven track record, experienced staff, and positive reviews.
Personalized Programs: Each individual’s journey is unique, and the treatment plan should reflect that.
Holistic Services: Centers offering holistic therapies like yoga, meditation, and art therapy can enhance the recovery experience.
Aftercare Support: A good rehab center doesn’t just focus on recovery during the program but also ensures continued support post-rehabilitation.
NuLifeLineCare Rehab is recognized as one of the leading alcohol rehabilitation centers in India, offering all of these features and more.
Final Thoughts
Alcohol addiction is a challenging condition, but with the right help, recovery is entirely possible. Rehabilitation centers like NuLifeLineCare Rehab provide the expertise, environment, and tools needed to overcome addiction and build a fulfilling, alcohol-free life. By understanding how alcohol rehabilitation works and its benefits, you or your loved one can take the first step toward a brighter future.

Understanding Detoxification
To find a detox near meit's important to consider your specific needs and preferences, such as the type of detox (e.g., alcohol, drug, holistic), the level of medical support required, and any other special considerations like location or amenities. Here's a general guide on how to find a detox center:
1. Understanding Detoxification
Detoxification, commonly known as detox, is the process of removing toxic substances from the body. It is a crucial step in the treatment of substance abuse and addiction. Detox can involve medical supervision, medication-assisted treatment, and supportive care to manage withdrawal symptoms and ensure safety.
2. Types of Detox Programs
Inpatient Detox: Patients stay at a facility where they receive 24/7 medical supervision and support. This is often recommended for those with severe addictions or those at risk of serious withdrawal symptoms.
Outpatient Detox: Patients visit the facility during the day but live at home. This option may be suitable for those with less severe addictions or strong social support systems.
Holistic Detox: This approach focuses on natural and alternative therapies, such as acupuncture, nutrition therapy, and mindfulness practices, in addition to conventional medical treatments.
3. Finding a Detox Center
Online Searches: Use search engines and online directories to find detox centers in your area. Keywords like "detox center near me" or "substance abuse treatment near me" can be helpful.
Consult Healthcare Providers: Your doctor or healthcare provider can recommend reputable detox facilities based on your medical history and specific needs.
Contact Local Health Departments or Substance Abuse Hotlines: They can provide information on available detox services and programs.
Insurance Providers: Check with your insurance provider for a list of covered facilities.
4. Evaluating Detox Centers
Accreditation and Licensing: Ensure the facility is accredited by reputable organizations and licensed by state or local health authorities.
Staff Qualifications: Look for centers with experienced medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and therapists, specialized in addiction treatment.
Treatment Approaches: Review the detox methods and therapies offered to see if they align with your preferences and medical needs.
Aftercare Support: A good detox program should offer or refer to aftercare services, such as counseling, support groups, or rehab programs.
5. Preparing for Detox
Medical Evaluation: Undergo a thorough medical assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and treatment plan.
Personal Arrangements: Make necessary arrangements for time off work, childcare, or pet care if needed.
Packing Essentials: If attending an inpatient program, pack comfortable clothing, personal hygiene items, and any prescribed medications.
Conclusion
Finding the right detox center is a crucial step toward recovery. By understanding the different types of programs and what to look for in a facility, you can make an informed decision that best supports your journey to sobriety.

Running for Mental Health: How It Transforms Your Mind
In a world that demands constant connectivity and offers endless sources of stress, finding a refuge in physical activity is more important than ever. Running, with its rhythmic stride and breath, emerges not just as a physical endeavor but as a potent tool for mental health and wellness. At Aguante, we understand the transformative power of running, led by passion, and we're here to support your journey every step of the way. Here's how running can revolutionize your mental health, complemented by Aguante's premium activewear designed for comfort, performance, and style.
1. Running Catalyzes Positive Mood Changes
The "runner's high," a state of euphoria experienced during and after running, is attributed to the release of endorphins and endocannabinoids — the body's natural mood elevators. This biochemical boost can lead to reduced feelings of depression and anxiety, promoting an overall sense of well-being.
2. Improves Sleep and Circadian Rhythms
Engaging in regular running can help regulate your sleep patterns and improve sleep quality. This is crucial for mental health, as a good night's sleep supports cognitive function, mood regulation, and stress recovery.
3. Encourages Nutritional Awareness
Runners often become more attuned to their bodies' needs, including nutrition. This heightened awareness can lead to better dietary choices, which not only support physical health but also have a profound impact on mental wellness. A balanced diet can improve mood, energy levels, and overall mental health.
4. Enhances Emotional Resilience
Regular running teaches you to cope with discomfort and to push through tough moments, building emotional resilience that is transferable to dealing with life's challenges. Learning to navigate these moments in running can make you more adept at managing stress and setbacks in other areas of your life.
5. Supports Mindful Living
Running encourages living in the present moment, promoting a mindful approach to life that can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. It teaches runners to focus on the here and now, appreciating the moment rather than worrying about the past or future.
6. Running as a Journey of Self-Discovery
Running often becomes a path to self-discovery, pushing boundaries and revealing inner strengths and weaknesses. It's a reflective practice, where long runs can become meditative sessions that help runners understand themselves on a deeper level.
7. The Role of Running in Digital Detox
In an age where digital overload is common, running presents a valuable opportunity to disconnect from devices and reconnect with oneself and the environment. This digital detox can significantly reduce stress and mental fatigue.
8. Offers Social Connectivity
Although not a direct benefit of running itself, joining a community of runners can enhance your sense of belonging and provide social support, which is vital for mental health. Running clubs, events, and social runs are great ways to connect with others who share your passion.

"Learn How to Manage Pain During Detox: Strategies from the Experts at Banyan Treatment Center"
Many individuals may find their bodies go through significant changes when they begin the detox process. While the major focus of detox is for a person to cleanse their system of drug and alcohol pollutants, it also can bring physical and emotional pain along with it. To help manage this pain, there are several methods individuals in recovery can use to make the process more comfortable and bearable.
One way to help manage pain during detox is by developing a high quality sleep routine. Sleep can be a hard thing to accomplish when going through detox, but it is a crucial element that should not be forgotten about. Working on sleep hygiene, like avoiding screens before bed or setting a bedtime can help an individual establish a more consistent sleep schedule.
Nutrition can also be fairly effective in managing pain during detox. Eating a balanced and healthy diet can assist in coping and strengthen a person's body to face the detox period. Foods high in sugar and complex carbohydrates are typically best as these can fuel the body and help it to recover. Supplements and vitamins can additionally be beneficial for those looking to boost their bodies while going through detox.
Hydration is another aspect that should not be overlooked. As toxins are purged from an individual's body during detox, it needs an adequate amount of fluids to assist in this process. Keeping a water bottle nearby and taking sips throughout the day can help promote the body's natural functions and alleviate pain.
Despite these strategies, some people may find that detox pain is too unmanageable with these methods. If this is the case, consulting with a medical professional like the experienced and sympathetic team at Banyan Treatment Center can help. Through the process of medically-supervised detox, individuals safely receive the resources and tools they need to reach sobriety. To learn more about the detox process and how to best approach it, visit Banyan Treatment Center's website.
In conclusion, pain during detox is manageable with certain tips and suggestions. Here are three key takeaways:
Developing a good sleep routine can help diminish detox pain.
Eating a healthy and nutritious diet can strengthen the body and ease the detox process.
Staying hydrated is essential for the body to expel toxins.
For further resources or if pain during detox is too unmanageable with these tips, please visit Banyan Treatment Center.

Trout Nutrition
"There are some key nutrients which science shows are essential for our long-term health and wellbeing yet low in our UK diet; Omega 3 oils DHA and EPA, Vitamin D, Antioxidants, Iodine, Vitamin B12… the list goes on. This same science has led to Public Heath England (PHE) recommending that we all eat at least two portions of fish every week, one of which should be oily. Enter British Trout!
Sport recovery, lack of sleep and healthy ageing – pink is good!
Trout is a fabulous source of pink Astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant and a precurso of Vitamin A. Every system in our body uses oxygen for essential day to day functioning, our ‘metabolism’. As vital as this is, the by-products of metabolism are potentially toxic, leading to cell damage if not removed by antioxidants. This cell damage is the natural ageing process but can also increase risk of chronic disease like heart disease and stroke, Type 2 Diabetes and Cancer. Fortunately, we constantly make antioxidants – our daily detox system! But, when our antioxidant need is much greater – stress, medicines, sport recovery, and even lack of sleep for example, relying on our food to provide extra antioxidants becomes really important.
Trout and Omega 3: the 101
We know from many years of research that two types of Omega 3, DHA and EPA are essential for our health and wellbeing. This is because they are crucial in the structure of many cell membranes, vital for the correct functioning of all our body systems. 60% of our brain tissue is DHA whereas EPA is especially high in the cells of our immune system and those lining blood vessels. DHA and EPA therefore have key roles in reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke, inflammatory disease, correct brain development even before birth, and more recent research suggests associations between a higher fish intake and reduced risk of neurodegenerative diseases like Dementia.
What about plant sources of Omega 3?
Plants provide a type of Omega 3 called ALA. Enzymes in our body must covert this ALA to the more beneficial EPA and DHA. However, this is a slow process producing far less EPA and DHA than that found in Trout. Plants also tend to be high in Omega 6 – important for our health but requiring these same enzymes for its conversion, reducing our ability to produce EPA and DHA from plant sources still further. For this reason, Public Health England recommend we try to eat Omega 6: Omega 3 at a ratio of no more than 6:1 and is why fish like trout is highly recommended twice a week. When fish is low in our diet this ratio becomes more like 10:1 with far less benefit for our long-term health.
Vitamin D – the sunshine Vitamin that we need more of…
In 2016, PHE recommended that we should all take Vitamin D supplements over the winter months when direct UV exposure is very low. 95% of our Vitamin D comes from exposing our skin to the sun – cloudy British summers, high use of sun blocks and less time spent outdoors are all reducing our ability to make Vitamin D which is essential for good bone density and a strong immune system (little wonder colds come visiting over the winter!) Very few foods contain Vitamin D with oily fish like British trout being one of the best sources.
What about Iodine?
It’s a little known fact that Iodine is required for brain development too – a ‘parent and child’ study released in the Lancet in 2015 demonstrated that children born to iodine-deficient mothers had lower IQs. Milk is one of the best sources of iodine – encouraging children to eat fish if they’re not big milk-drinkers can help to ensure iodine levels, which are also needed for healthy growth, are as they should be.
What about pregnancy?
Because of the important roles of DHA in brain development, the need for Omega 3 doubles during pregnancy and is even higher with breast-feeding. PHE recommendations of one portion of oily fish each week takes this need into account and ensures no risk from PCBs. Whereas some seafood is not advised during pregnancy, British trout is low in mercury and is a good choice to benefit from other nutrients which are important for foetal development too." -

Why Wouldn’t Your Nutritionist Have An Eating Disorder? (Margaret Wheeler Johnson, Bustle, Aug 22 2022)
“Fonnesbeck didn’t have long-standing food issues; her eating disorder had emerged a few years before, when the weight she gained during her first pregnancy didn’t magically vanish after she gave birth.
Thanks to her job at the Ranch, where she had worked since getting her degree in 2006, she knew how to drop the additional pounds.
She exercised compulsively and cut out any foods that weren’t nutritionally dense.
When she began to have digestive issues, she eliminated more foods. Soon, though, she was eating only five foods total.
Her joints ached, she was having regular migraines, and she fractured her pelvis. (…)
“Cut this out and you’ll feel better,” she remembers telling them, even though there is still no good data showing that people without diabetes or a severe dairy allergy need to eliminate either.
“It wasn't really evidence-based practice,'' she says now. “It was coming out of my own fear.”
One of the clients Fonnesbeck treated at that time was struggling with disordered eating and thus particularly vulnerable to putting Fonnesbeck’s restrictive recommendations into practice.
The dietitian was so deep in her own eating disorder that she didn’t recognize that her client was in trouble.
What’s striking for Fonnesbeck now, in recovery, is that she didn’t even realize she wasn’t giving sound advice. “I really felt like I was.”
If you've seen a nutritionist in private practice, you may already suspect that Fonnesbeck is not the only dietitian to have practiced with an active eating disorder.
You sit across from a probably slender, probably white woman who extols the energy and clarity you’ll have when you follow the meal plan she recommends.
She tells you not to worry if it seems like not that much food.
“Detoxing” from gluten, dairy, sugar, and processed food will curb your cravings for them, and you can always fill up on Scandinavian fiber crackers with the consistency of pressed mulch. (…)
“Eating disorders bring people into the dietetic[s] field.”
It’s easy to see why: One common eating disorder symptom is frequent and obsessive thinking about food.
Other dietitians say their eating disorders were triggered by dietetics training itself, and the culture around it.
"I did not have an eating disorder until I started studying nutrition," says Jessica Serdikoff Romola, a registered dietitian in New Jersey who traces her orthorexia back to her first semester as a dietetics major. (…)
Meanwhile, undergraduate dietetics programs are not required to teach future dietitians about eating disorders, and most of the dietitians interviewed for this story recalled fewer than three class meetings mentioning them.
"It was always talked about as this really rare thing that you'll never see," Mitchell says.
(The worldwide prevalence of eating disorders more than doubled between 2000 and 2018, from an average of 3.5% between 2000 and 2006 to 7.8% between 2013 and 2018.)”

ALCOHOL DETOX: THE FIRST STEP TO RECOVERY
Alcohol detoxification refers to removing alcohol from the body through a forced withdrawal phase. This is also the time a patient can begin a rehabilitation program with the help of a licensed medical practitioner. They may also start administering other drugs to aid in the reduction of symptoms of alcohol withdrawal during detoxification.
In order to recover from alcoholism, one must typically first undergo a detoxification process. A person can undergo detoxification in a rehab center on an inpatient basis or as part of a rehab plan that includes outpatient rehab. Many of the time, alcohol are given the option of trying moderation before abstinence. If this practice fails however, they will also advised to totally abstain from alcohol use.
Detoxification can be medically assisted for those at risk of suffering severe withdrawal symptoms in the absence of alcohol and those who need further assistance to get through the whole process. A variety of medications are prescribed to ease symptoms, and doctors monitor vital signs and an individual’s overall well-being. Usually, a physician will prescribe a medication for withdrawal along with the detox. Antabuse, for example, is a medication which makes people ill if they consume even a small amount of alcohol.
Once someone becomes sober, there may be other issues and conditions they begin to experience. Addictions often result from an individual struggling with or hurt by relationships, anxiety, depression, or abuse. Alcohol abuse can mask these problems. Patients undergoing alcoholism treatment can get help with the conditions in which they are struggling, as well. An individual who is diagnosed with a mental health problem in rehab also has the option of receiving dual diagnosis treatment, which addresses both the mental issue and addiction.
A primary component of recovery from alcoholism is therapy, no matter whether a person is suffering from a mental illness. A therapeutic approach helps alcoholics identify and deal with stress factors that lead to an increase in urges to drink. A group setting may be used to teach and practice relaxation techniques in inpatient treatment. However, in outpatient treatment a therapist and patient can explore and practice different methods of stress management, and the patient may be given homework assignments.
Professional often follow a holistic approach when addressing alcohol addiction. they don’t just address a person’s drinking habits, thoughts, or behaviors; they also promote healthy relationships, exercise, and nutrition. It is also possible to benefit from Alcoholics Anonymous. They provide literature and support group meetings that allow users to discuss and express worries in a safe environment.
Although alcoholism is considered incurable, that does not mean that people with it are unable to quit drinking. Sobriety is a good thing for many alcoholics following the initial treatment phase. During that time, they are encouraged to continue their participation in therapy and support groups to make sure there is no sign of relapse. That helps them deal with their urges to drink, and also any problems that trigger them. Ongoing support will reduce the chance of relapsing.

Should You Be Worried About the Corona Virus?
With the media blasting us about the spread of Coronavirus it is concerning for all of us so that we know our risk and how to protect ourselves. So, let’s look at some actual information about this type of virus.
If you recall there was a similar scare about the SARS virus in 2004. SARS stands for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. Coronavirus is a form of SARS. It appears to have started by jumping from animals to humans in Wuhan, China and is known to affect bats. Like almost all flu viruses it is most dangerous in the very young and the very old. These age groups are at the greatest risk for developing a respiratory complication such as pneumonia, and that is what causes death.
Viruses themselves are somewhat self-limiting. Unlike bacteria, viruses are not actually “alive”. They act by penetrating the cell membrane in the host and using the machinery of the cell to replicate and make more viruses, which causes the cell to burst, releasing more viruses to spread. They usually come on fast and are resolved in a few days.
Antibiotics don’t work against viruses because viruses are not living organisms. The best way to prevent viral illness from spreading is to have a strong immune system that does not allow the virus to take hold.
Plant medicines have a distinct advantage over chemical medicines. The body can recognize and incorporate plant medicines easily, and disease-causing organisms do not develop immunity or resistance to natural substances. There are times when antibiotics are necessary because they swoop in. The downside is that they knock out everything in sight, like renegade mercenaries, rather than work with the immune system itself. A healthy immune system is able to target just the disease organisms. Plant medicine can help because it has properties that can actually protect the cells from being taken over by an invading virus, supporting a stronger immune response, but not harming the body or healthy cells.
Red-algae is one type of a virus-fighter and Licorice root is another. These plants have specialized types of lectins that make the cell wall stronger to resist a virus, and also prevent the virus from hiding from the white blood cells in the immune system. Licorice root even works against SARS-type viruses, such as Coronavirus. https://plantmedicines.org/plant-medicines-fight-wuhan-coronavirus/ Yes, some lectins are helpful, despite what you may have read lately. https://draxe.com/nutrition/lectins/
Mediherb makes a Licorice Root tonic that is very pleasant to use, so if you are concerned about your risk, let me know. Licorice root is also an adrenal tonic and should be safe for anyone in small doses of 1-2 teaspoons per day. If your immune system is compromised for any reason, or you have to travel abroad, this may be a wise precaution. Mediherb also makes Viranon, which contains St. John’s Wort, Thuja, and Licorice Root. Echinacea is another powerful preventive herb. For younger kids I recommend giving them Chewable Congaplex daily, from Standard Process. Many kids like licorice, so liquid Licorice Root is easy to add in, with a little Stevia or Monkfruit for taste.
These are just a few of the natural products you can use to keep your body strong and to improve recovery. Coughs from respiratory infections can be particularly difficult to kick, but natural medicine can end the hacking by supporting the lung tissue. Email me to find out what I recommend.
Meanwhile, there are several ways to make your immune system stronger to fight any infection, viral or not.
· Limit sugar. Your white blood cells are the “Pacman” that go after disease-causing organisms, eating them for lunch by engulfing and eliminating them, and they become much less active after you eat sugar. Eating sugar throughout the day can really keep your immune system suppressed. Maybe the reason flu spreads in office settings is because of the cookies, candy, and junk foods that are shared among co-workers. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/does-sugar-really-suppress-the-immune-system/
· Limit and manage stress. When stress becomes chronic, the immune system is hampered, as well. So, find ways to give yourself a break so you can decompress. Get some mild exercise, spend time with friends, walk in Nature, keep a good joke book handy so you have some belly-laughs, take a tea break and turn off your electronic devices, stop watching the news media, play with your pets. Adaptogenic herbs (tonics to for the adrenal glands to balance stress hormones) like Ashwaganda and Astragalus can help, also. https://www.rn.com/featured-stories/stress-inflammation-immunity/
· Get plenty of sleep. The body gets a chance to reboot during sleep, and depriving yourself of this can make your immune system weaker. Make sure that you are getting good quality sleep, also. If you wake up numerous times or are not refreshed in the morning take measures to improve your sleep.
· Avoid toxic environments. Remodeling projects, artificially scented products, and chemical cleaning products can expose you to toxins in your own home environment. There are ways to help your body to handle the exposures, and a good detoxification program is vital for anyone living in a developed country due to the environmental hazards all around us. Toxins weaken the immune system by causing the detox organs like the liver and kidneys to become congested and may even do cellular damage to these vital organs.
· Take immune support measures. Increase your fruit and vegetable intake to at least 5 servings or more per day. (1/2 cup is a serving size) Avoid trans-fats in fried foods and packaged foods. Eat organic food as much as possible. Include immune support supplements daily. Vitamins A and D, as contained in Cod Liver Oil, have a host of benefits to the immune system. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/9-benefits-of-cod-liver-oil#section1 That’s why Cod Liver Oil has been used medicinally since 1794 by physicians, but the mention of its use goes back to Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine.
At this point, it seems unlikely that the Coronavirus will sweep through the world like a disaster movie scenario, despite the fear-mongering in the media. If you contract flu it probably isn’t Corona. If flu of any kind takes hold rest and stay home so that you don’t spread the virus to others who are sleep-deprived, eating too much sugar, and stressed.
And, feel more secure knowing that, just in case there is a spread of Coronavirus, and conventional medicine has no answers, you can turn to natural medicine for help.
